Besides every one of the members of her pack had a life and jobs that kept them plenty busy. She could attest to that herself seeing as most of her time was spent keeping up with the running of her spa. Babysitting was not a part of her duties as alpha, or at least not in her book it wasn't. And she highly doubted any of the girls or Larson would appreciate having that tight of a leash kept on them either. Hansen never had exerted that much control when she'd been alpha and if she had Kenzie wouldn't have stuck around for long. What they did do, though was watch out for each other and check when something seemed amiss.
So when Harper failed to show up for the weekly pack meeting held in Jaz's tattoo parlor warning bells went off in Kenzie's mind. The girl had never missed a meeting since she'd known her and that was pushing three or so years now. The two of them were fairly good friends, had always gotten along even back when Kenzie was the newbie of the pack. It was hard for Kenzie to tell sometimes just who out of her pack is actually loyal to her or if they still wished Hansen was in charge but she got the feeling Harper was happy with the change of leadership. She doubted their old alpha would have been as concerned with the girl's disappearance but then again after everything that had led up to them being attacked by the group of radical hunters her opinion of Hansen had sunk considerably.
In a way it almost made Makenzie a bit wistful if only because the pair use to be such close friends. She'd been the one who had changed her, saved her really, and the thought that they would ever end up at such odds had never once crossed her mind. People changed though and Kenzie knew that, better than some probably, but it still stung. She was well aware that some of the girls considered her to be rather cold-hearted and unfeeling. There was no denying she could give off that vibe and she hated that fact about herself at times. Because those two adjectives weren't anywhere near accurate, if anything she cared too much and in this world that could get you burnt pretty quick. So the walls came up and the thorns came out instead and if it meant being called a bitch or hated then so be it. Better than the alternative, at least in her mind.
Really that side came out most in situations involving some sort of conflict or argument and the girl simply refused to back down. For the most part though and especially with people she knew well and enjoyed being with the happy, softer side was shown most. Hope1 and Phillips saw it more than the others probably but she was working on opening up more with the rest of her pack too. The first six months as alpha had been her doing her best to simply keep them together period after the trauma of losing almost half the original members in the attack. There had been no time for sitting down and crying, no time to wallow in self pity or despair, not for her at least. And in the end it had been worthwhile considering where they were now, building up their numbers again and getting over the hurts and scars.
Until this. Wanting to put her own anxieties in check, Kenzie had called Harper's roommate after the meeting had wrapped up. It was possible the girl had simply got caught up in studying or perhaps actually fallen asleep for once instead of pulling another all nighter. Plenty of reasonable explanations for her absence that night. After hanging up with the roommate though she was more concerned than before mostly because not only had her roommate not seen her for a few days but said that when she'd come home a few nights ago Harper's room had been a mess, things knocked over and not at all how Harper normally kept it. Kenzie being Kenzie she hadn't just let things drop there and brought Phillips with her over to Harper's apartment to check things out herself. Thankfully the roommate wasn't exactly the neat freak sort and had left things pretty much how she had found them.
The first thing both she and Phillps had noticed was the scent of silver. Faint but there and detectable to their heightened senses. The only thing they found that didn't belong to Harper (or at least not according to the roommate) was a black handkerchief. There was another smell on it that was putting Kenzie off too but she couldn't quite pinpoint what exactly the odor was. It made the hair raise on the back of her neck though and that was all that mattered to her. She and Phillips had left soon after and once she was back at her apartment above the spa, Kenzie paced the floor for a bit, trying to decide what to do next. Something was wrong, that much was very clear to her mind. She had already called Cam once to see if her the guy knew anything about where his sister might be but he didn't pick up. Half afraid she might be over reacting Kenzie decided to go for a jog to clear her mind, get the frantic worries under control and approach it in a more rational manner.
Though she normally stuck to the more populated routes at night this time she didn't want the distractions of people and traffic and veered off towards what was commonly called the Old Town by the rest of Manuka's residents. There were still plenty of legitimate businesses open and operating despite the reputation it had as been abandoned mostly. Probably not the best route for a woman to head alone but she could take care of herself more than capably. Werewolf non-withstanding. She was about ready to turn around and head back towards home when she caught whiff of it. That same smell that had been on the handkerchief in Harper's bedroom. Suddenly realizing where she was standing it hit her. Gunpowder. That was the odor that had been nagging the back of her mind. Manuka Gun Club was right next to her and though she doubted any human could detect the raw scent its pungent smell was burning in her nose. Harper didn't own a gun, didn't need to for obvious reasons, at least as far as Kenzie was aware and she certainly wasn't the sort to frequent this place anyways. So how had that handkerchief happened to be in her room?
There had been rumors, very vague ones mind you, that The Plague used this place as some sort of headquarters. There were also rumors they made their base at The Estates and the abandoned warehouses as well. Kenzie had kept away from sticking her nose into it too deeply as she didn't want trouble for herself or her pack. However, if they were responsible for Harper's unexplained disappearance she'd stick more than her nose in until she got exactly what she wanted which in this case was answers. She wasn't stupid though and despite the fact she was standing right there in front of the entrance, going in now was hardly a wise move. Instead she hurried back to her apartment and picked up the phone, cringing slightly at the number she was about to dial. Of all people he was the last one she wanted to call but he would be her best ally in this if her suspicions proved true. Besides the man was engaged to her after all, albeit not by his choice, but all the same he deserved to know. Holding the receiver to her ear she waited as it rang once, then twice, and three times. "Come on, Montgomery pick up your damn phone..." She muttered under her breath, a hand running through her hair in that nervous tell she hated so much.

He was planning on going down to Florida for the weekend to gather his thoughts and be more in tune with himself for his next big fight, which was coming up the following weekend. He was more than ready physically, but a lot had gone on in the past week for him to be completely unfocused. First Lorenzo had decided that it would be a good idea to go hunting on the outskirts of town when they had already made an alliance with the family out there and agreed to stay off their property. It had taken close to four hours to calm the Blackheart family down and get them to forgive Lorenzo who “forgot and was starving”. Wyatt wanted to beat the living hell out of Lorenzo, but he knew it wouldn’t do any good since he was dull and only ever did what he wanted. Wyatt did warn him though, that if he stepped foot on their land again, he would no longer have a pack to come running to for safety.
Then, just a few hours later, he got a phone call from Danno telling him that he had gotten into an accident out on his boat and needed him to come get him. He was out in the middle of the freaking ocean and Wyatt still hadn’t trained that day and had a session with Davey later that he would now miss, which he hated doing because the kid really honestly loved fighting with Wyatt and Wyatt loved helping him grow as a fighter. But he called Davey and spent the next two hours finding Danno and bringing him back to shore. He had gotten a clean cut break in his leg that wasn’t healing fast for some reason, Wyatt hadn’t looked into what reason that was, but instead asked no questions., and his motor wasn’t starting. So he had to take Danno home and give him some medicine and eventually his leg healed up and by that time it was midnight.
Today their pack meeting gathered a few days early because he was leaving. He had put Danno in charge while he was gone seeing as he was second in command and adjourned on that note. After all of his goodbyes he drove home to start packing. He would have taken Danno with him, but he needed someone he trusted fully to be here in case something happened. He didn’t fully trust Lorenzo, especially after the stunt he had pulled with the Blackhearts, and Jerrett, while honest and true, wasn’t yet strong enough to hold down the fort if something went wrong with two of the guys in the pack. He wanted Jerrett to be tougher than he was, but then he wouldn’t be…Jerrett. But he was a good guy and Wyatt did trust him with helping Danno.
As he finished packing, his phone rang. He dug his hand into his pocket and looked at his display screen and stared in confusion for a few seconds. Then he realized that if he didn’t answer, it’d go to voicemail. And while it probably would have been better to let the call go to voicemail, he answered it primarily because he had a sudden eerie feeling wash over him. “Hey Mack. I thought I told you: I can’t go out with you; I’m engaged. Look, I know you really want me and all, but this is just a little desperate,” he said jokingly, even though he knew this was no call for a little chat. Mack never called him. They had a mutual respect for one another, but little else. In fact, he thought she was a little uptight and seriously needed to loosen up. She couldn’t take a joke at all and always had something sassy to say. Wyatt found it quite enjoyable to mess with her as often as he could because she never realized that that was exactly what he was doing.
Wyatt shoved his toiletries into his suitcase and began zipping up the bag, but when Makenzie told him the reason she was calling, he froze. Even if Makenzie only suspected Harper was missing, it was enough of a reason to go looking for her. He suddenly felt guilt wash over him. With everything going on lately, he hadn’t even noticed his own fiancé missing. And while the two didn’t necessarily want to marry each other, they were still supposed to look out for one another. He had promised the Way’s her protection from the day they met until the day they died and now she was missing and he hadn’t even realized it. Wyatt told Makenzie to get a few of her girls and to meet him at the gym. He hung up with her and called Danno, Davey, Lorenzo (reluctantly), Goose, and Gavin and told them all to meet him at the gym, explaining only that Harper might be missing and he needed their help tracking her down.
It only took him a few minutes to get to the gym, as it was only a couple blocks away from his house. He was the second to arrive after Goose. Goose began asking loads of questions, but Wyatt told him that he’d explain everything once everyone had arrived. And when that time finally did come, he caught everyone up. Mack and her girls hadn’t yet arrived and Wyatt was growing anxious.

In fact she was usually the one people were yelling at for not appearing to be concerned enough. Honestly she was just very adept at keeping those sorts of feelings hidden inside instead of projecting them for everyone else to see outwardly. Probably one of the many reasons she was considered by some to be a bit of a cold-hearted bitch. It wasn't that she didn't care she just didn't like when others could see just how much she did. Made you more vulnerable that way, an easier target for hurt so to speak. Or at least that is what she'd learned growing up. Putting up a more stoic wall made things so much more simple and easier to deal with really. And being the alpha of this pack also came with certain expectations. You weren't supposed to freak out when things went wrong. You were the one everyone else was looking at for guidance and comfort. If they saw you panicking then all hell would break loose.
That was one of the main reasons she had not called any of the other girls just yet. It was only a suspicion after all and honestly when it came to her pack Kenzie knew she tended to think the worst before she actually knew if it was true or not. Thankfully she had a head on her shoulders that enabled her to not react before confirming those fears were legitimate. Going for a run normally was enough to clear her head and this time was no different at first until she'd been hit with deja vu from her visit to Harper's apartment earlier that day. Even that could have been a coincedence but knowing what she did about that particular place and knowing Harper as well as she did it seemed almost too much of one to be an accident. The more she dwelled on it on her way home the more it was beginning to worry her and finally had her making the decision to call the very last person she would normally ever ask for help.
As much as she disliked the man she had to admit he had a good head on his shoulders and wouldn't just sit around and let her words go in one ear and out the other. Certainly different than the last alpha that pack had been stuck with before him. Kenzie had only been alpha of the girls' pack a few months when Wyatt had taken over but she had still seen how Tyson had interacted with Hansen the few times they'd been in contact with each other and she'd never liked him. She may not have cared much for Wyatt either but it was on an entirely different level than Tyson. Wyatt was, well, aggravating and cocky but he wasn't cruel and always put his pack's interest before his own well being, much like herself. She could respect that even if she didn't much care for his attitude. Besides there was also the very important fact that he was engaged to Harper, not voluntarily, but still she figured if anyone would know or needed to know about her fears it was him.
One, two, three and then four times his phone rang and she was getting ready to hear the chime of the voicemail kick in when he finally picked up. He'd barely said two words before she was rolling her eyes. Typical. "Don't flatter yourself, Montgomery," She retorted flatly, half wondering why she was even bothering with this man. She knew exactly why though because as soon as she had explained her suspicions to him he was instantly in action mode. Each of them were going to gather a few of their pack members and meet up at the gym as soon as possible. Kenzie called Phillips, her beta, right after as well as Hope1, Bandy, and Stewart. She hadn't been able to get a hold of Indy or Larson and the others who were left were not fighters. At least not for the type of situation Kenzie feared they might find themselves in later on tonight.
It wouldn't have taken Kenzie long to get to the gym but she had to pick up Stewart who was on the other side of town. Thankfully she'd had the foresight to have Phillips explain everything to the other girls and by the time they reached the gym they were all caught up and ready to go. Wyatt and his boys were already there waiting and it was obvious he was on edge. "I'm going to assume you already caught them up on what I told you earlier?" She questioned him, her tone neutral. Any dislike for him and all her fear for Harper had been pushed down like usual and now she was simply focusing on the task at hand which was finding her missing girl. Eying the pack members he'd brought along she felt a ripple of distaste at the sight of Lorenzo but the rest she liked. Danno and Goose especially.

The pair didn’t necessarily hate each other, but they also didn’t like each other either. There was mutual respect and pretty much nothing else. To Wyatt, Mack was kind of high mantinence and thought a little too much of herself. She was easy to get mad though, so for him it was an easy way to entertain himself for a few minutes. He was usually pretty easy going, but sometimes the girl just got under his skin, so to pay her back he pissed her off. It was a mutual deal and Wyatt thought it was the best he was ever going to get out of her seeing as there would never be a friendship between the two. They just weren’t compatible enough to be around each other for very long.
But in a time like this, all bets were off. Harper was missing and any type of bitterness between the two went straight out the window. Both were more worried about Harper. They could both put their differences aside for her, maybe the only person who could actually do so. Harper was what brought them together today, or rather the lack of her at least. Hundreds of scenarios were going through his mind now and he had no idea what to do with himself as he stood silently waiting for Mack and whoever she was going to bring finally arrived.
Danno was next to him with his arms crossed under his chest, just as silently until he turned to Wyatt and said reassuringly, “She’ll be okay.” Wyatt simply nodded. If Harper turned out dead there would be no one to blame but him. The girl was his fiance and he should be more protective over her even if there was no sort of connection between them whatsoever other than friendship and respect. She was going to be his wife. He needed to be there for her no matter what and protect her from situations exactly like these.
At the moment, he was certainly glad to have military training. He and Danno both were in the Navy together and knew different tactical strategies that would come in handy tonight when they went to get Harper. Goose was here because he was trustworthy, a good fighter, one of his best friends, and smart as can be—though he sometimes didn’t show it. Under most cercumstances the two would have been the only ones he called, but he needed more manpower for this. If they were going to be going up against the fucking Plague, they were going to need more than just three pairs of male hands to go with whomever Mack brought.
Finally she and her crew arrived. Stewart, Phillips, Hope1, and Bandy all walked with Mack who had a slight worried expression on her face, though she tried to hide it. Phillips and Bandy were alright enough, he didn’t have any issues with them, but he hardly knew Hope1 at all and Stewart was too quiet to ever say a word to him. He had no idea why she hadn’t at least brought Indy with her, but he didn’t think of that too much before he stood and greeted them with a nod. At Mack’s question he had to hold back the heavy sarcastic response and instead replied with, “Yeah, everyone’s caught up. Danno and I will figure out a plan once we scope the place and figure out how many people are there and whether or not Harper is actually there, who she’s potentially wih, and how easy they’ll be taken out.” [/color] Wyatt and the boys walked to the exit and started heading towards the gun range. He matched his stride with Kenzie and asked, “Mack, what exactly did you see when you were at the range? Was anyone around or was it deserted?” He wanted to be a little ahead of the game and know exactly what it was she saw so he could be more aware of what was going to happen. He didn’t want any surprises. They were what got you hurt, or worse, killed. Post by MAKENZIE EVE MYERS on Jun 29, 2013 3:20:54 GMT
[style=line-height: 100%; width: 400px; letter-spacing: 1.7px; font-family: courier new; font-size: 28px; text-shadow: 1px 1px 0px #000; color: b7b7b7;]WE'LL NEVER FADE AWAY IT DOESN'T MATTER IT'S ALL JUST TO SAVE YOU There was one thing Kenzie liked about Wyatt and it was that he didn't simply disregard her opinion on the basis that she was simply being an overly emotional woman who had no clue what she was talking about. She'd been given that response plenty of times before in her life and wouldn't of necessarily been surprised to receive it from him but he never had yet. Granted she could count on one hand the number of times she'd come to him with any sort of concern or worry but still it was appreciated nonetheless. Honestly she wasn't even a hundred percent sure about this whole thing herself but something wasn't right, her gut was telling her that much and if it came to Harper's safety or risking looking foolish she would chose the latter option any day.
Another plus when it came to working with Wyatt was the military training she knew he had as well as his beta, Danno. Both had good heads on their shoulders and personally Kenzie trusted their instincts just as much as her own. Unlike his alpha, Danno was actually pleasant to converse with and he and Makenzie had become what you'd call friends over the past year or so. Even if Wyatt hadn't believed her suspicions there was at least the hope that she could have convinced Danno of them and he in turn could convince Wyatt. Thankfully that hadn't been an issue and this little operation was going ahead full bore as soon as she got off the phone with him.
Unlike Wyatt, Kenzie's whole pack still wasn't entirely behind her as their alpha, a fact that disappointed her, but one she'd accepted and continued to work on as time went by. She couldn't exactly blame the few who were still loyal to Hansen seeing as at one point in time the girl had been a fine leader. She was the one who'd saved Kenzie's life after all by changing her. Unlike a few of them though she didn't feel as if she owed her a debt any longer which had made it all the easier to take over as alpha after that horrible attack had ravaged their number almost in half. It was guilt that seemed to drive most of them in still not giving their loyalty completely to anyone but Hansen as the true alpha, feeling as if they were betraying the person who'd given them a chance in the first place. She had almost felt that way herself in the very beginning but it had faded quickly after seeing the hurt and scars Hansen's increasingly poor leadership had led them to.
It did make it harder though to select who she wished to bring with her tonight. None of her girls were what you'd call warriors though a few could most certainly hold their own in a fight, herself included. Out of those few though only a couple were ones she trusted with her life absolutely, Phillips and Hope1 being two of them. Bandy had been a fairly easy choice even if the girl wasn't necessarily the easiest to get along with at times. She'd been doing better in the last few months though and she and Kenzie had shared a few long conversations that had her feeling confident in the girl. Stewart wasn't exactly her first choice but unable to reach Indy she'd really been left with no other option and the girl was fearless enough with a feisty attitude deep down. What mattered most was she trusted them and they trusted her which is what was going to be essential when it came to working together with Wyatt and his pack to find Harper.
Although after seeing who exactly he had brought with him, Makenzie was more at ease on that subject mostly because she knew and trusted most them as well as her own girls. Save for Lorenzo that is. She supposed he was a nice enough guy but he always eyed her like she was a piece of meat and his attempts at hitting on her only further worsened her opinion of him. Wyatt answered matter-of-factually to her query and laid out a basic plan of action to follow which Kenzie was in agreement with and nodded quickly in acknowledgment. Without any further discussion the two packs set out for the gun club and Kenzie found Wyatt beside her soon after with a few additional questions for her. Shaking her head a bit, she replied thoughtfully, "No, it was empty and there wasn't anyone else around that I could see," A bit of a frown pulled at her forehead. "It was just a feeling but something wasn't right though. And then there's this," She pulled out the handkerchief she'd found in Harper's apartment earlier that day. "Hope1 and I found this at Harper's place and I didn't recognize the scent on it until I passed by the gun club tonight,"
They both knew Harper well enough by this point to realize she was not the gun toting type or would even have a reason to go near the place. Which only further cemented the suspicions in Kenzie's mind that something had happened to Harper. [/style]

[style= width: background-color: 101010; 400px; padding-top: 5px; ][style=height:300px; width:380px; background-image:url('http://i.imgur.com/gltKMiO.png');] you'll always find me right there again [style=width: 380px; text-align: justify; color: acacac; font-family: georgia; font-size: 10px; line-height: 100%;]Putting down people’s opinions because they were women just didn’t feel right to Wyatt. Some of the best officers he knew were women and while they had a harder time than men getting where they were, they did a damn good job of being in command when they did finally get to be in charge. Wyatt had the highest respects for women who could push through hardships and challenges to get where they wanted to be. It was the main reason he respected Makenzie so much. Even though she was sometimes a major buzz kill and she could grate on his nerves, he knew that she was incredibly smart and would do whatever it took to protect every one of her pack members, even if they didn’t have any loyalty to her. She had taken the alpha position from Hansen when Hansen had gotten members of the pack killed and he saluted her for that. Makenzie knew that he respected her and it was returned. So today would go smoothly as long as nothing crazy happened.
So far the two packs were getting along well. Everyone here, surprisingly including Lorenzo, was listening with intensity so that they could get the plan in their heads and would execute it with ease. The plan seemed like a good one, but he was still nervous about it. Harper wasn’t a fighter, so if she were to get caught by hunters, she’d be damned. He didn’t really know what went on when a werewolf got caught, so it could be anything from torture to get information out about the rest of their pack or experimenting to see how far their limits were when it came to silver or any other weaknesses they had. Or it could be death. If Harper died because he wasn’t watching out for her closely enough then he didn’t know what he would do. He knew he would get hell for not being able to protect her from both families, and he would go into a dark place of guilt. But he would somehow get vengeance because Wyatt wasn’t one to sit by the wayside while people he cared about got killed. And he would be backed by two packs.
But Wyatt decided to have an optimistic view on the whole situation. If he went in thinking Harper was already dead he wouldn’t feel as strongly about getting to her, but if there was a chance he could save her from anything then he wanted to get to her as soon as possible. And when they agreed to see all of the obstacles they’d have to cross before getting his fiancé safe, they were on their way. Wyatt had had to get a few people out of a burning ship once with Danno, so they both knew what to do. They didn’t have a lot of time and they would have to go about this with the utmost care. He was ready to get this over with and have Harper safe.
Mack didn’t like a few members of the group he brought—okay, well she didn’t like Lorenzo, but neither did Wyatt. So they shared the same disliking towards him, which was something they had in common (for once). Wyatt didn’t like him for multiple reasons, but Mack’s reasons were much more fun. Because he was a complete womanizer and thought he was the hottest thing since Brad Pitt, he thought every woman wanted him. But Mack so obviously did not want anything to do with him, which only made him think she was playing hard to get. It was sometimes entertaining to watch Lorenzo try to go after her and constantly get shut down. Wyatt respected her more because of it, which he would never tell her personally.
He wished Mack saw at least one person there at the gun range because he didn’t know what exactly it meant when she said she didn’t see anyone there. Everyone could be inside or harper could already be dead and they were already gone by now. He decided the latter was not an option and set it deep into his mind that they were all inside. Mack’s gut feeling was enough to go on that something was wrong though. He trusted her gut and nodded when she explained that she just knew something was wrong. He knew exactly the feeling she was talking about. He had had it on a number of occasions as well.
Wyatt took the cloth from her and smelled it. He recognized it instantly as gunpowder, but then got the smell of something else on it: Harper. He’d know her scent from anywhere. Wyatt handed her the handkerchief. “Doesn’t the Plague usually meet at the gun club?” he asked. If they were dealing with the plague then they had more to worry about than just a couple of hunters. They were a big group of hunters who were ruthless killers and if they wanted information about packs in Manuka they probably wouldn’t have much trouble getting it from Harper. He was pretty sure she had a low tolerance for pain and would do anything to get them to stop—not that he blamed her. He hadn’t been tortured, but he knew how painful it was when touched by silver. He prayed that Harper wasn’t being tortured with silver.
Suddenly he wished he had someone to comfort him even a little. But he knew Mack was just as troubled. If she were feeling anything like he was, she would want some kind of comfort, too. So he put his hand on her shoulder and said, “Everything will be fine. We’ll get her home safe.” He gave her a quick squeeze on the shoulder and dropped his hand beside him.

She wasn't used to asking for help or honestly really even having anyone to call on for help if she had been the sort anyway. It had been ingrained in her from a little girl that she was to be submissive and put her future into the hands of a man who might or might not respect it. In her case it was the latter option and in running away from him she had broken that first link of the chain that had her wrapped in that sort of thinking. From that point on she had relied on one person, herself. It was simply easier that way because she at least knew she could trust she wouldn't be let down. Problem with that was when you ran into situations where the issue was bigger than one person could handle. That was when she got herself into trouble because it didn't matter how impossible it was she would try and handle it anyway. Often to her own detriment even if she did manage to pull it off.
Thankfully with age came wisdom and years of lessons learned and by this point in her life she was not above searching out help if she knew they could honestly provide it. And Wyatt andd his pack most definitely could do that. Even if he hadn't had the connection that he did with Harper there was no doubt Kenzie would have still called him to ask for his help. Whether or not he would have given it as readily were it not Harper's life on the line she couldn't say for certain but she wanted to think he was the type of man that would have. Either way he was here now and she was glad for it.
Granted the fact that he'd brought Lorenzo as part of the rescue party irked her a bit but logically it was a smart move seeing as the man would be an asset. Didn't mean she had to talk to him or even acknowledge his existance though. In fact she quite pointedly did just that, smiling and nodding at Danno, Goose, Davey and Gavin in turn as the gathered together. If there was one thing about Makenzie it was you knew exactly where you stood with her and she made no bones about her feelings. In this case he was the sort of man she absolutely loathed, reminded her of her ex-fiance to be honest with the way he thought he was every woman's dream come true. Which apparently meant she was supposed to instantly melt and fall into his arms with one cheesy pick up line and bicep flex. Hansen had surely seemed to be quite cozy with him from what Makenzie recalled.
This alpha, however, was not so easy. She would play nice for tonight for Harper's sake and work with him if she had to but that was all she would do. The one thing that made her feel slightly better about it was the fact she knew Wyatt as well as Danno and Goose were well aware of her aversion towards the man and would hopefully keep her from having to punch him in the balls at any point in this little rescue mission. Which was coming together quickly and efficiently now that they were all gathered and ready. She wished as badly as Wyatt that she had actually seen something, anything, there at the gun club. It'd certainly make things easier to plan if you knew what you were walking into even slightly. All she had was that instinctive feeling and thankfully he seemed to be ok with going on that alone. She really should probably give the man more credit for being a decent person than she did but then again Kenzie was certain as soon as she did just that he'd go and do something to make her want to ring his neck again.
She could tell by the look on his face when he sniffed the bandana that he smelled it too and voiced her fears a moment later. A grim expression was in her eyes as she nodded slightly. "Rumors has it they've been meeting there for months but no one can seem to confirm it for certain," Tonight would prove the truth of it for sure. The Plague was one of the most skilled and secretive groups of hunters in the city. The Gun Club was just one of many rumored places they met but no matter what Kenzie was certain that was where Harper was being held, Plague or not. The unease in the pit of her stomach continued to grow with each passing second and a part of her wanted nothing more than to just pick up the nearest object and throw it at the wall (or Lorenzo if he happened to be in the way) in utter frustration and worry.
The woman had a good deal better control over her emotions than to give in to that compulsion, however, and simply set her jaw all the firmer. The feeling of a hand resting gently on her shoulder brought her head around quickly, half expecting it to belong to Lorenzo and was surprised to look into Wyatt's blue eyes instead. The annoyance that had arisen initially disappeared instantly and a faint smile tugged at the corner of her lips, appreciating the words of reassurance he offered. "I know we will," The words were punctuated with a nod, a return reassurance of sorts that she believed in both of them and their pack members ability to get Harper back safely. They started out for the Gun Club a few moments later, coming from the back rather than the direction Kenzie had been in the street earlier. Seeing as it was in the part of Manuka known as the old town there was a good section of woods behind the buildings which provided good cover. Good for both them and the Plague if they were here using the building as a front for their meetings.
The closer they got the stronger that same feeling from before became, the hair of the back of her neck rising as they stopped short of actually getting too close just yet. There was still no sign of other people around or even any sounds as it was closed by this point to the general public. To anyone else walking by it was just another business locked up for the night. Glancing to the side she sought out Wyatt, deferring to him as the better leader when it came to the tactical end of things.
