Okay, so I think that this kind of thing could be fun! We would set up a series of challenges in writing, that test all kinds of skills that we as writers may have, and challenge ourselves. At first I was thinking like a general writing thing, where we only have one stage and one winner, but then how the hell would you pick a winner fairly? Anyway, I propose doing a series of challenges, have a deadline for submissions, so like this;
Challenge 1: Poetry Challenge 2: Stories under 1000 words. Challenge 3: Stories over 1000 words. Challenge 4: Play/Script Challenge 5: Use of different perspective from your usual writing, so if you usually do third person, try writing in second person. Challenge: Putting all the winners from the 5 previous challenges and voting on one and a runner up. And any other challenge you may so wish to add within reason.
I think because people have different skill sets, more of a range of people can win this thing and feel confident. There would be polls to vote for favourites, and the voters would have to give valid reasons for their choices specific to the writing in that section, and not the popularity of the person who wrote it.
Plot twist; everything has to be set in the world of Nightmare! So, it doesn't have to be your characters that you play now, but it can be. It can be about anyone/anything you like, there would be no themes because that would make things restricted, and you would have a whole load of creative freedom over this.
So, what do you guys think? Feel free to add ideas/add constructive criticism!!

First of all, let me just say that I LOVE THIS IDEA. Seriously, as someone who's been a creative writer for years and years, this speaks to me on so many levels, and writing was one of the reasons I started roleplaying in the first place. So, I totally think we should do this. Few questions, though: 1. Are we doing it tournament-style, where each 'challenge' has a winner, and then maybe all the winners compete in a separate challenge, and then we vote on the final winner? OR are we doing it where each challenge has a winner, and then we pick a winner from all the separate categories. I think that might be harder to do the second way, because comparing a poem to a 2000 word story is like apples to oranges, a little bit. 2. What do the winners get? A spot on the OTMs? A post of their choice from Jury? I kid on the last one, but if I won, that's what I'd want. Scarlon and Callary forever.3. Will this challenge be open to members only, or can people who have been part of Nightmare in the past and have gone now for whatever reason decide to come back and participate even if they don't have an active character? (Starky, for example... although I'm sure there are others who would probably be interested if you contacted them.) RE: Edit: I think the anonymous idea is really the only way to do it - this should be all about the writing, in my opinion. And that's it! I really hope this gets approved, because I think it's a wonderful idea.

TO CJ:
1) The first one could work better. Have a separate challenge for all the winners, where they don't have a restriction, so if you wanna do a poem to can do a damn poem haha XD 2) I was thinking posting all the winners in the OTM's bar, and/or getting something they like within reason; so, like, graphics, eternal glory, free pass to a character of their choice, whatever haha. 3) Well, I think members would be priority, cause we couldn't contact the people who have left, you know? But if they decide to peek in, they'd have to at least make an account, but I would make it members based. 4) The anonymity thing wouldn't work unless we made people not write about their own characters or make them change the names or something.
TO ROSE:
There would be a few weeks space between deadlines, so you'd have plenty of time and no pressure! glad you like it though!

I've alreday done a couple of these I mean uh- YEAH LETS DO IT! I suck at poetry but it should be fun! I do have one question- I get the setting is Nightmare, but can we change a couple of plot things? Say I changed my story to where the supernaturals won the war and all the humans are slaves or something? Cause I've written about that already haha <3

Mhm, it's in the world of it, so the species and stuff, and the friction between sides. You can totally do if the supernaturals won or something <333 that could be really cool
