Today was the day. Theon had been coaxing butterflies out of his stomach for the last three days, making sure that everything would be perfect, because he was a bit of a perfectionist. This was a new trait that he had discovered, but nonetheless, he wanted to impress Keller. This would be his first real date, and the only advice or pointers Theon had gotten had been from romantic movies and books he'd read. The former angel knew that he wasn't exactly a hunk of a man like the romance novels so proudly boasted on the covers.
As far as men went, he was much less... masculine, but he wasn't without he charms. He thought. He hoped. As long as he was good enough for Keller, that was what mattered most, because Theon found that he actually really liked her. Their conversation at the bar had been basic, but it had lasted hours, and he'd gone from being no so far into her good graces with his 'knight in shining armor' routine to someone she actually agreed to go on a date with. It was a slow progression, but Theon knew he had all the time in the world, at least. Although he certainly hoped it wouldn't take that long to win her over. If he could win her over at all.
The night before, he'd spent three hours prepping to cook the night before, and most of the morning cooking. Theon found that he really enjoyed the preparation of food, and while he'd never tried it on anyone but himself, he hoped that it'd be sufficient. He'd made sandwiches with homemade bread, fruit salad, and brownies for dessert.
It was a simple lunch, nothing lavish, but he'd worked really hard on them, and hoped they'd be good enough for Keller. Since it was winter, Theon wanted to pick a place that they could eat a little, talk a little, and then have fun without worrying about the elements. But something about a homemade picnic lunch was intimate and sort of romantic to him, and he hoped Keller felt the same way, since it was the idea he'd originally pitched to her.
Theon had asked Keller to meet him at the Skating Palace at 12:30, and after he'd showered, dressed, and made the last touches on their picnic lunch (including putting everything in a cute little basket he found at a thrift store). The walk to the Skating Palace was nice, peaceful, and Theon left with plenty of time to spare so he'd arrive promptly. He wasn't the kind of guy who believed in being late, and even though it might have been okay for the woman, his date, to be 'fashionably late' as the saying went, Theon held to his morals that were left, and hoped that everything went smoothly. The butterflies he'd been trying to chase off for so long returned as he approached, and when he got close enough, he saw Keller waiting outside. Theon jogged a little to catch up to her, giving a silent prayer to anyone that might be listening to help him be suave, be cool, and be someone that she'd want to keep being close to. Theon's face lit up when he saw her, and when he got close enough, he felt a little bad that she had been waiting, even though he was early. And it was cold outside. ”You didn't have to wait in the cold for me, you know,” Theon said, flattered that she had waited at all. ”But I'm flattered, and it's really good to see you.” Theon's breath came out in billowy puffs of steam, and he helped usher her inside, careful not to be too pushy, but just wanting to get her out of the cold.
When they got inside, Theon looked toward a little table by a window, and noticed that it had just started snowing. It just keeps getting more perfect.
[/color] Theon started walking in that direction, then changed to walk backwards. ”I know you said having an indoor picnic is a bit strange, but would you perhaps like to sit by the window with me, watch the snow?” It was a good idea to him, but the most important thing was that Keller liked it. Theon smiled again, hoping that his boyish charm would sway her, because he really didn't have much else. Theon was trying to not get distracted by the snow, but it was just so beautiful. He hadn't seen snow before, at least not so close... but the thing that really got him was that as beautiful as the snow was, something about the way Keller looked outside of her element in the bar was magnetic. The former angel barely gave the snow a passing glance, because he was too caught up in her. Theon knew he'd have to count his blessings for this one, even if he still wasn't sure how he'd got her to say yes, or why she agreed in the first place. Whatever her reason, Theon was just happy she was there, with him.[/blockquote][/justify] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OUTFIT:[/color] Here!NOTES:[/color] I'M SO EXCITED, THEY'RE GOING ON A DATE!!!! <333333

She guessed it was an actress gene. Or not, since none of her family were actresses, but that was besides the point. She was a tall woman, and when wearing heels towered over most men, and that would make her feel a tiny bit awkward. She honestly could not remember how tall Theon was, but she hoped that the height difference wouldn't be too great, as she slipped her heels on easily. It was much too cold to wear a skirt or a dress, but she put together a classy outfit that showed off her best assets, but was nowhere near slutty. She could tell that Theon didn't go for girls who dressed trashy, or well, she assumed anyway. Not that her outfit was only considering what Theon would and would not like, she was more making an effort for herself. She liked to look good, and she liked to be comfortable, and dresses and skirts in this weather were not options. She let her blond hair hang loose around her face, her make up pristine. If she was going on a date, might as well make an effort. Scarlett couldn't deny that she was a little bit excited. She didn't know Theon well, and this was kind of the point, to get to know another person. He seemed nice enough, somewhat endearing, and it was a surprise that she so readily agreed to this date. She chose to walk to the skating park. When Theon called her the Friday morning, she had completely forgotten that she had given that stranger her number, if only because she had been so distracted with auditions and working at the bar, so the call had come as a nice surprise. She figured that some fresh air would do her good, so grabbing a handbag, she put all the things she'd need in there; phone, keys, lipstick, purse. She liked to be ready for anything really. Walking out of her apartment, she was glad that she had a jacket on, as it really was rather cold. Her heels made sounds on the pavement as she walked. A lot of women didn't know how to talk right in heels, but from the moment that Scarlett had realised that she would like to be an actress, she had started practising all the things that actresses should know, and walking in heels was one of them. Theon had said to meet him for half twelve, but glancing at her watch she realised she was early. With a small shrug, she leaned against the wall of the skating rink to wait for him, a slight shiver overtaking her body after an especially cool breeze. But it seemed like she didn't need to wait long, before her eyes settled on an approaching Theon. The boy cleaned up well, she had to admit as much. Scarlett shrugged a little bit as he spoke to her, her arms folded over her chest to keep warm, but a smile was on her lips. "Don't even worry, I haven't been waiting long." She promised with a small nod, letting the breeze blow at her hair she looked to the dark haired man. "It's good to see you as well, it was a pleasant surprise when you actually called." She laughed a little, her bright green eyes on his features. It felt a little bit different, looking at him in the daylight. He was certainly attractive. Not butch or anything, but classic in his looks, with dark hair and dark eyes. Not that it was about looks to Scarlett, she refused to date those pretty guys who didn't know how to treat a woman, even if they did look good. Sure, she wouldn't date someone she wasn't physically attracted to either, but looks really weren't the important part to her. Scarlett followed him inside easily, feeling much better as the warm air from inside the building washed over her. Her eyes followed the males gaze, and she felt a quirk of a smile on her lips. He literally made them a picnic inside. She could honestly say that she's never had a date such as this one. Her eyes focused on the snow which started to fall. She had always liked snow, made everything look beautiful. When he asked if she'd like to sit by the window, she tilted her head and grinned brightly. "Well now, I thought you'd never ask." She teased him a little bit, linking her arm in his as they headed for the table. He let him pull out a chair for her, and her eyes were back on the window, and the snow falling. "Such a perfect day, it always feels like a perfect day when snow falls." She spoke lightly, before glancing back up to her male companion. Scarlett regarded him just as easily, licking her lips a little as she ran a hand through her hair. "So, are we going skating after this? Because if we are ... I have to warn you, I can't skate." She would have blushed if she was less confident, but she just beamed brightly at him. Even if he couldn't skate himself, she could already tell it would be a lot of fun just messing around. She liked to have a good laugh when on a date, something about conversation being so easy going and making her laugh. So, messing about would also be the perfect thing. She put the purse down and looked very relaxed, and actually like she wanted to be there. OUTFIT hereNOTES vbfdhvkf dying over my pic! [/style]

Theon was still stunned at the fact that Keller had agreed to come with him on this date at all. Normally, he didn't think that he had much "game" when it came to the ladies, and he'd never really practiced or anything, so the fact that Keller actually agreed to go on a date with him was still jarring, to say the very least. And when he approached her waiting outside, he was a little shell-shocked. Wow, she's beautiful. Theon did a double-take from her heels all the way to those brightly shining green eyes that seemed to be looking at him in a rather appreciative manner. The former angel wasn't really sure why she was looking at him like that because certainly there were other men out there, and men she'd dated most likely that were far more attractive than him. But, Theon fully subscribed to the feeling that looks weren't everything, and personality made up for a lot of other shortcomings. Not that Keller had anything to worry about at all in the looks department, because as far as Theon was concerned, she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen.
"I'd really hate to have kept you waiting," Theon said, relieved at her words. "I do try to be punctual where I can. Did a lot of prep work and cooking last night, just to make sure I wouldn't get behind schedule. You don't have any food allergies, do you? I tried my best to make everything simple." The former angel couldn't help but ramble a little bit when he was nervous, and he was nervous, swaying a little on his feet in front of her. Fortunately, it probably just gave him the appearance of being cold, and he was all right with that because the temperature seemed to have gotten colder on his walk over to the Skating Palace. As Keller continued, Theon warmed himself by the inevitable blush that crossed his cheeks when she said that his call was both pleasant and a surprise.
"I did say I would call you; I've been looking forward to this date all week," Theon confessed. It was the truth, and while he fully believed in telling the truth and tried to make himself be honest as much as was physically possible, he didn't want to seem to eager and overzealous. Keller didn't seem to think his words were a bad thing, however, and a few moments later, they were heading inside and out of the cold. Just in time, too, because snow started falling shortly after. As romantic as it might have been to experience those first few snowflakes together, Theon knew there would be plenty of time for romance later in the date, as long as things went according to his plans, however loose they were. Keller was amenable to his choice to sit by the window, and together they made their way over to one of the unoccupied table. Most of the people that were present in the Skating Palace were, naturally, out skating, so Theon and Keller had a quiet little section of the place to themselves, at least for the time being.
The dark-haired man set the picnic basket on top of the table and opened it. "I hope you brought your appetite," he said, grabbing two plates, napkins, and plastic silverware and setting a place for her and himself. Then, he grabbed the sandwiches he made, the Tupperware container of fruit salad, and saved the brownies for later. They would be a nice surprise after the main part of the meal had ended, and he tried to be wary of how much to pack in the main course just so they could be sure to have room for dessert. "So, the sandwiches are fairly basic, but I made the bread myself, and the fruit salad as well. Please, ladies first," Theon said, gesturing to the food he'd set out, and turning his head back to the snow for a moment: it was really starting to come down out there. They'd probably be indoors for quite a while, not like there weren't things to do in the Palace.
When Keller was finished getting the food she wanted for herself, Theon filled his own plate and smiled. "I think the snow's really beautiful, don't you? Although it looks like we might stay in here a while, after we're done eating. If that's okay with you. I know past the picnic we didn't plan for much," Theon said. He was better when he had plans, but sometimes, he knew it was good to be a little spontaneous, and maybe she'd even appreciate his attempts to be. After what seemed to be a moment's pause, Keller brought up the notion of skating, and Theon grinned. He'd been rollerblading, but never ice skating, so it would be an adventure for them both.
"I won't laugh at you if you don't laugh at me," Theon said. "I have absolutely no experience on the ice, and the closest I've ever gotten to ice skating was rollerblading, and I feel that those two things are not even closely related." He smiled at her and took a bite of his sandwich, pleased that she seemed to be enjoying her food. But, curiosity got the best of him, and he had to ask.
"So, how is everything? You can be honest with me; I accept criticism wholeheartedly. After all, how can you improve without critique?" Cooking really was something he enjoyed, and he'd longed for the opportunity to have someone to cook for other than himself. However, he did know that Keller was a guinea pig of sorts, since he hadn't really tried anything out on taste buds that were not his own. But the ingredients were pretty basic; he hadn't put anything exotic or strange in there, because he wanted to play it safe. Theon wanted the date to go off without a hitch so maybe, just maybe, there could be a second date with this gorgeous woman in his future.

It wasn’t really secret to say that Theon was good looking, in a more boyish than butch manner, but muscles didn’t mean anything if the man behind it was dumb as nails. And Theon certainly was far from that. He had charm, and his awkward shyness drew her to him. It was a strange feeling, but not one that Scarlett didn’t like. However, to some people ‘a date’ was a really big thing, but to the blonde it was more to see whether she was compatible enough with someone and just have a good time. Not really nervous or anything. She was surprised to say that she had been excited for this one, possibly because of the sheer eagerness of the person she’d be spending her time with. He certainly was not the ‘sex on the first date’ kind of guy, and that was … refreshing. That there were no expectations like that of her, she embraced it and it made Scarlett feel good. Scarlett shrugged a little at his words. “Really, my own fault for being early, you were completely punctual.” She nodded, and chuckled softly as she heard his words. Not many people put this much effort into first dates, and once more Scarlett was taken aback by how much she was enjoying that someone was putting in effort for her. Not in a selfish manner, just it was a nice feeling. “Nope, no allergies. I love my food, really. I would never swap a good meal for a salad or anything though.” She laughed a low, musical laugh as she walked beside the male, and her words were completely true. Yes, she liked her figure, and it was important to keep it well maintained for the acting, but there were other ways to do it, like exercise, or being on your feet all day working. She wouldn’t deny herself food, it was just a ridiculous notion, and as much as she loved the media, she would criticise it for the promotion of unhealthy living. “I really appreciate you cooking though; I hope it wasn’t too much trouble.” She spoke softly, her green eyes on his facial features, as if studying him. A pleasant laugh escaped her lips when he admitted to looking forward to this date. “Aw, you’ve got too high of an expectation of me that I’m not sure I can reach.” Scarlett grinned and licked her lips. “But I shall try not to disappoint.” She winked. She didn’t know how she felt about someone thinking she was more amazing than she actually was, because she just didn’t want to leave them disappointed. That would certainly be a blow to her ego. Once they were inside and sitting by the window, she pursed her lips a little and cocked her head to the side. “But of course, food is really one thing I wouldn’t deny, so you’re in luck.” She nodded and watched as he set the places, wondering if she should offer to help, but it seemed like he was trying very hard to make things perfect so she let him. She eyed the food with a smile, because really it looked amazing, and there was a nice mix of everything. “Is cooking like a hobby? Since you’re like the only person I know who makes their own bread.” She commented lightly, moving to place some of the food on her plate, just as much as she was sure she’d eat. Scarlett waited a moment for Theon to fill his plate before grabbing a piece of fruit and putting in her mouth, chewing slowly as she listened to the male speak. “I love the snow, but I’m all for staying inside for a while.” She agreed and shrugged a little with a smile. “Relax, Theon … Really, everything is perfect as it is and I can see you’re worrying. This is one of the better dates I’ve been on, so you don’t need to stress about it.” She hoped that the sounded reassuring, and that her words would put him at least a little bit at ease. Make him relax and sit back, because she didn’t want to feel like he needed to impress her, because really he didn’t. He was nice and sweet and cooked for her, and that was enough for Scarlett. She took a bite of her own sandwich and listened to him with a small grin. Swallowing, she laughed a little. “Well, that means you’ve got more experience than me. I’ve never been rollerblading, it just … wasn’t a thing I wanted or needed to do, so I never really thought about it.” She said, easily telling things to him about herself because she felt comfortable in Theon’s presence. Scarlett took another bite of sandwich and ran a hand through her hair, leaning back in her seat. “The food is beautifully cooked, really. You should be a cook if wanted, because why not?” Scarlett took a moment to think on that before she looked at him. “What do you do anyway? I know you know where I work and things, but I never caught what you do…?” As much as she didn’t mind telling Theon about herself, she was interested in knowing him too. It was habit, letting people talk about themselves and silently listening, so she never really told many people many things about her. Leaning forward a little, her eyes caught sight of the snow outside. “Later, after the skating, I suppose we should have a snow fight. Do you accept the challenge?” She grinned a little teasingly at him, because the snow seemed to be setting beautifully, so why not? It would be a good way to have some more fun after the food and the skating, and of course, talking. OUTFIT hereNOTES hopw this is okay <333 [/style]

Post by THEON JACOBI ALASTAIR on Mar 17, 2013 9:18:53 GMT
The former angel was relieved at how easy-going Keller seemed to be. Apparently, he was destined to be the nervous one on this first date. Part of him debating on spilling the beans about this being his first date ever, but he didn't know if the gorgeous blonde would find it to be strangely endearing or just kind of creepy. Either way, he was happy that she seemed to be happy, and hopeful that she was just as excited, although much cooler about showing it, as he was. ”I suppose it's a good thing that I didn't plan on being 'fashionably late' then, isn't it?” Theon joked, hoping that his wacky sense of humor would come along favorably to her. Theon knew that some people would probably think he was weird or impossible to tolerate with all his strange little quirks, odd mannerisms, and funny way of dressing. There were some men in town that he'd seen and decided were the definition of machismo, and he just wasn't. Before, when he lacked a physical body, fashion sense and physical stature had been nothing to worry about. But now, he tried his best to create a physique that people would like and find attractive (even if he was a bit on the small side), and clothes that made him feel stylish and comfortable. When her eyes fell on him, though, he felt like the most dapper, handsome creature in the entire universe.
As they made it indoors, Theon made sure to get the door for her, and caught her comment about having a decent appetite, and not skipping real food for salad. The curly-haired man smiled. He could certainly appreciate that. ”I spend my time watching a lot of old movies, and while I'm admittedly not well-versed in modern women as much, I find it refreshing that you're sort of... old-fashioned classy,” Theon said, thinking aloud and realizing that his thoughts were jumbled and really only made sense in context to him. So, he decided to clarify. ”I mean, sometimes young ladies today are concerned that men won't like them as much if they have an appetite, and to me, that couldn't be a more incorrect train of thought.” Again with the rambling, but he laughed off the comments nervously and ran a hand through his messy mane that he'd worked so hard to style and make look nice before deciding that it was a lost cause unless he decided to quite literally become a mass of hair gel.
After he set the plates and put the food out, he found that he relaxed a bit and just enjoyed Keller's comments, and hoped that her appreciation of his food would continue after she actually tasted all of it. It hadn't been any trouble for him to cook, because it was just something nice that he thought would add to the overall quality of the date. It was something unique, perhaps, that would make him stand out from other guys she'd dated, which was something he desperately wanted to do. Theon was quite certain that he likely wasn't her 'type' of guy, but he didn't want to let that get him down. She had chosen to go on a date with him for some reason, and even if he didn't know what that was right away, and didn't have the courage to ask, he found that he was content with the fact that she was there with him, and not some other guy.
”Cooking is, well... I suppose one could refer to it as a 'hobby.' I mostly just cook for myself, though. I'd like to have someone around to enjoy my cooking, which is probably why I sprung it on you,” Theon said, then smiled. ”You know, to make sure my taste buds aren't failing me, and I'm actually as decent as I think I am. Though I'm nothing spectacular, and most of what I've learned has come from The Food Network.” It was his little secret that wasn't so much of a secret anymore, since now she knew. Hopefully, she would be impressed all the same. The former angel craned his head around to look at the snow as they began to eat the food he'd prepared, and was pleased that she liked it as much as he did. Even though he wasn't used to snow, he thought it was absolutely wondrous. Keller told him to relax after their conversation (and his nerves) kicked in to a full swing, and he blushed a little. Sometimes, he could be guilty of being just a touch overzealous. ”All right, all right. But only because you asked.”
He relaxed a little more when she told him that he had more experience than her on rollerblades, at least. That meant they'd be on even keel, and Theon rather liked that idea. That way, if they both made fools of themselves, they could laugh about it together. ”As a gentleman, I will happily sacrifice myself to the ice to help keep you from falling if need be,” Theon said in an overly dramatic, chivalrous gesture that was a total joke, because he decided that he really liked hearing her laugh and seeing her smile. Although, he really was going to do his best to keep her from falling – dates wouldn't be memorable if they resulted in injury. At least, not the good kind of memorable. He found himself blushing again when she complimented his cooking, and they finished the meal. The amount of food had been perfect, because they managed to finish it all. Theon gathered up the trash, and planned on stowing the picnic basket in one of the lockers they'd likely have to rent for their other personal items. The man ducked his head a little so she wouldn't see the extent of his blush, and his response came out more shyly than he'd anticipated. ”That's very kind of you to say, Keller. I, well, I haven't really decided what I actually want to do as a career. I've mostly just been picking up odd jobs here and there for money – maintenance, house chores, cleaning, landscaping, those sorts of jobs.” He was hoping to find something that he could be passionate about eventually, but so far, only one idea had been truly appealing to him, and that was something that Eleyna had mentioned.
”Believe it or not, I'm actually considering going to medical school. Perhaps not to be a doctor, but a trauma or ER nurse – somewhere that I could be helpful,” Theon said, deciding that he liked the sound of it just as much as the thought. It wasn't as glamorous as Keller's job, but he liked the idea of helping people, since it had been what he was basically groomed for by his parents. Theon knew that joining a profession that allowed him to save humans would make his parents proud, even if he couldn't tell them about his plans.
So far, everything was going really well with their date, and as they moved away from the table and Theon paid to get their skates and lockers, the blonde suggested another activity after they finished up on the ice. Snow fights. ”I've never done one of those before, so I fully expect you to decimate me. But, challenge accepted!” Theon said with a bright smile. Then, he grabbed his skates and the picnic basket, and wandered toward the benches to change into them and put his stuff away, excited to get out there and try something new.

Tilting her head, she let her blond hair go behind her shoulders, her smile genuine because it would be oh so obvious if she was faking. “Oh, Theon,” She started, placing her hand on his shoulder gently. “It would have been worth the wait.” She flirted with a small smirk and a wink, letting her fingers trail down his arm before she carried on walking inside, grinning when he opened and held the door for her, because he was such a gentleman. Scarlett liked that, men who knew how to treat a woman, but still wouldn’t let women walk all over them. There seemed to be this notion that someone couldn’t be a gentleman without being weak or a pushover, yet Scarlett knew of many men who could be just that and genuinely splendid guys. Sometimes she really hated stereotypes, much like the ‘blondes are dumb’ ones that she gets at work also. People come in thinking that they can spout crap at her just because she’s blonde and works at a bar. The good, or maybe not so good for them, thing is that she can totally hold her own and she isn’t afraid to drive customers away because she didn’t need douche bags in her life. Scarlett quirked an eyebrow at Theon’s view of women, and she had to admit that he was right. Sometimes girls just wanted to please a man, but for Scarlett that seemed kind of ridiculous. The way she saw it was, that if they couldn’t handle a woman at her Hulk, they didn’t deserve the Bruce Banner. As for first impressions, she didn’t like to pretend that she was something she isn’t. Some girls just don’t have the confidence that Scarlett has, but she knew that everyone should be able just to be themselves. “That’s true, which I think is ridiculous. If a guy likes you, then he likes you for you and not how much you eat.” She shrugs her slim shoulders, walking side by side with Theon, just about as tall as him in her heels. Height wasn’t a bit thing, but Scarlett was sometimes amused when the man was shorter than the girl, it was a humorous sight though there is definitely nothing wrong with it. “I suppose you’re just one of the rare kinds of men.” Scarlett chuckles as they sit by their table which the male had prepared. The day, and the date, started off so well Scarlett couldn’t help but thing that something will go wrong, though she knew that would be the last thing she should be thinking. When they finally started on the food, Scarlett’s laugh was delightfully amused. “Well you know, you have got to start somewhere, and TV is a good help with that.” She agreed and licked her lips absent mindedly as they started eating, thoroughly enjoying the food prepared. It tasted really good, though Scarlett wasn’t too hard to please in the food department as she liked to eat almost anything, but she could also appreciate good food. “Whenever I watch TV I just like to watch a lot of movies. Classic and Hollywood ones, really, they might be for a passive audience but I learn a lot.” She spoke, telling him a few things about herself in return for him telling things about himself. She only said the things she was comfortable with, not wanting to reveal the fact that she wanted to be an actress just yet because, well, what a cliché dream. Of course, not when you sell your soul for it, but she was in no rush in becoming big just to fall. She’d get her moment, because Scarlett knew she was just as talented as those girls in movies. Maybe it was because she could relate to some of them, and she didn’t want to do it for the fame, but she knew that fame would be a perk when it came down to it. It would beat the hell out of working at a bar, that’s for sure. Another laugh. She was laughing a lot, it seemed, which was pleasing as she hadn’t expected to have such a good time, but she was. There was something about Theon, from his mannerisms to his words that made her be drawn to him, which of course rang alarm bells in her mind. Since Annie and her old friend Tommy she hadn’t been comfortable with letting people close, because she tended to lose them, and it was heartbreaking each time. However, she decided not to dwell on that. “I’m a woman, not a damsel in distress; I can totally break your fall.” She teased, because yes he was a gentleman, and Scarlett was simply someone who didn’t care that he was a man, she could take care of herself and take care of him. Sometimes that was the issue for men; their bruised ego’s when a woman didn’t really want to be looked out for because she could do it herself. However, she knew she’d let Theon break her fall simply because it was a bit of fun. As they put away the basket, Scarlett grabbed her handbag and listened to his words, nodding. “I think you’d make an amazing addition to a medical team.” The blonde said honestly, green eyes on blue as she spoke, a smile on her full lips. “You seem to care about people a lot, but I think that might be a drawback too.” He bit her lip, not wanting to assume things, but Theon could correct her if she was wrong. “Because you care so much, it would be hard to deal ... with some things.” He cleared her throat because she knew that people died in hospitals, and Theon seemed like the kind of man who would take them hard because being a nurse he should have been able to help them, even when they couldn’t be helped. Scarlett moved to sit on the bench beside him, slipping the skates onto socked feet. She stood, wavering a little as she struggled to hold balance for a moment. “Oh God, if I can’t stand on these on ground, how on earth will I stand on ice?” She asked, a little anxiety in her tone, yet excitement too because she’d be trying something new. Once Theon was done with his own skates, she moved to take his hand and entwined their fingers together, squeezing gently. “Together.” She motioned to the ice, before starting walking towards it, tugging at Theon to follow her, and she held on tightly to him as she made her first steps on the ice, her legs not really knowing how to keep balance, but soon she could at least stand a little on the ice. She smiled brightly, cheeks a little flushed at how much of a bad skater she was, but not everyone could be good at everything. “I’m gonna fall ... I just know it.” She snickered, moving to place her hands onto the banister, and faced Theon. “Well, you picked the perfect date to make me look like a waddling duck.” She laughed, not really minding because it was just a bit of fun, and even she couldn’t look attractive all the time. Mild flirtation was something that Theon was certainly not used to – he had never really been in contact with women, even though he was certainly attracted to them. Ever since he had landed on earth, his appreciation of the fairer sex had been something that he had mostly kept to his own thoughts, and crushes on actresses and other TV stars certainly weren't an uncommon occurrence. However, before Keller came into his life, he hadn't really taken any definitive notice to one woman within the confines of his current location. His friend Eleyna was gorgeous, but Theon knew that a friendship was all that was written in their future. Keller, however, set his nerves on fire and made him feel things that he thought were only possible in the romantic movies he watched when he was home alone, looking for some outlet to ease his loneliness. ”I'm flattered you feel that way,” Theon said, trying to hide the slight waver in his voice that rose up when she touched his arm, trailing her fingers gently across the material on his sweater. Thankfully, he felt fairly confident that he hadn't given too much away at just how much the small contact had affected him.
Even though they were so early into their date, Theon couldn't help but marvel at just how easy it was to talk to this woman. During their first interaction, he hadn't exactly been what most people would call confident, and he still wasn't a perfectly composed picture of the same emotion. The former angel was able to open up more, and felt comfortable letting Keller know tidbits about himself, his opinions, and his views of the world and life. These views were still fairly new to him, since he was only starting to adjust in a way that sometimes felt like he was born all over again. This world was certainly different than his place of origin, but the people he had met thus far had done nothing but make it easier for him to discover who he was in a variety of different situations. And Theon rarely shied away from the opportunity to gain some knowledge. ”There are so many things to like about women,” Theon said honestly, although really, he meant the comment to mean her specifically. Saying so, to him, seemed like it would be a little too forward, and he didn't want to embarrass himself. ”I've never understood man's propensity to get hung up on minor details. I suppose you might say that I've gotten accustomed to looking at the 'bigger picture.'” His view was certainly different than most, but there was something special about being unique. At least, that was Theon's hope.
A small blush covered his cheeks when she called him 'rare' because he really didn't have a good jumping off point for analysis on what the typical man was in this world. Of course he had some ideas, and had even met a few 'modern' men, but he really just tried to be himself and hoped that people would appreciate what he had to offer, even if it wasn't typical. The blonde let out a musical kind of laugh that was enchanting to him, and they started their meal together, conversation becoming sparse for a moment until it picked up again and the former angel discovered that she actually enjoyed his cooking. At least she didn't think him watching The Food Network was a silly way to learn the art of cooking – he thought it was rather useful.
A smile burst onto his face when Keller shared her television preferences because they were very similar to his own. ”I adore movies. Some of the older ones really speak to me – the 'classics.' The actors back then were just so... elegant,” he mused. ”Do you have favorites? I'd have to say that Casablanca and It's a Wonderful Life are two of my favorites – but I've learned that I have developed quite the penchant toward romance.” Maybe he was sensitive instead of a more 'rough and tumble' sort of man, but he hoped that this quality would still make him attractive to a woman like Keller. Truly, he didn't know her preferences, and it didn't matter to him – as long as he was on her list.
Their picnic lunch ended, and after they cleaned up, they made their way toward the skating rink. Keller's comment about not being a damsel in distress wasn't a surprise to him, but he certainly hadn't meant to be patronizing with his comment about catching her, should she need him to break his fall. ”I never pictured you as such – and it makes you all the more special to me.” His words were honest, and he hoped that he wouldn't offend with such honesty, but it was a terrible habit of his to simply speak candidly. When the subject changed again to his interest in the medical field because of his desire to help people, Keller brought up a point that he had considered since his random encounter with Eleyna, who was a doctor in a hospital and had given him the same thought to dwell upon. ”With people dying, you mean,” Theon said, unafraid to speak the truth aloud. It was a sad fact, but something he knew all too well of reality. After all, most of his fellow angels had been humans or other beings that had died for some reason or another, but had been a good enough soul that they were drafted to the heavens to continue good works.
”You cannot change the course of life or what's to be, but if I could even help one person live a longer life or give the gift of having just a little more time with the ones they love – that would be worth any loss. I would just do my best to remember that every day.” Theon gave a little smile and then they made their way over to the benches, seeming to drop the heavy subject for the time being and make their way toward an activity that would be challenging, but hopefully fun as well.
Once they got their skates on and secured tightly, they both tried to stand. Theon was a little steadier on his feet, but Keller seemed to be a little less steady. Theon wondered if he should grab her arm or her hand, but deciding against it – he thought that it might be smarter to allow her to make the first contact, if she so desired. ”It's like learning to walk all over again,” Theon said, laughing brightly as he finally started to wobble, and made his way toward the ice with his date. ”You'll be fine,” Theon said, looking into her gorgeous green eyes and hoping that his confidence in her would give her what she needed to take the first step onto the ice. Together. Just as she said. The first touch of her hand against his, and their fingers entwining with one another gave him chills, and he had to correct his posture so he wouldn't fall before he even got on the ice, due to a sudden weakness in his knees. Together they worked on gliding forward, and Theon kept a grip on Keller's hand, but not too tight. So far, they were doing just fine, and the smile on his face at their success showed how truly happy he was.
”You won't fall, and if you do, I'll probably fall with you, so we'll both be completely embarrassed and uncomfortable together,” Theon said, finding that there was a hidden double entendre in that sentence that he wouldn't consider until later. Keller still seemed to have anxiety, and commented on how he'd chosen a date that would make her look awkward. His voice got a little softer, but he knew she could still hear him, and spoke freely.
”I think you look beautiful.” Then, with a sudden hit of bravery, Theon raised her hand to his lips and placed a gentle kiss before starting to move a little more confidently on the ice, helping her keep her balance with his hidden strength that one might not know was there unless it was showcased. The day was already starting to be full of surprises.

It was a funny notion, of people feeling flattered simply because of something someone said, but she understood the notion. She always felt good when she was complimented, not in the horrible superficial way, but genuine compliments that made her smile like an idiot. The aura around Theon brightened just a little at the waver of his voice, and that gave Scarlett confidence. Some people thought that just because she had confidence that she didn’t have insecurities, and God, she had many. Much insecurity, such as, what if someone she grows to like only likes her for her body? The way she looks, to look pretty on their arm? She realises that Theon might not be like that, hell, she can almost a hundred per-cent say he isn’t, and it makes sense that she is drawn to him like this. His aura, and whatever slivers of thought that she doesn’t manage to tune out seem so genuine, and therefore her own smiles were more genuine than they were most of the time. Scarlett looked curious as he spoke about the fact that there were many things to like about women. He certainly was ‘the bigger picture’ kind of guy, that was obvious to see, and to Scarlett that was an attractive quality. “Yes, well, don’t forget that there are many things to like about men too.” She smiles and winks at him, licking her lips as she looks around the place they were in, enjoying the atmosphere the both of them were creating. “But minor details are sometimes important too.” She says, shrugging a little. “Sometimes it’s the little things that you can’t forget, and they all matter as much as the bigger picture.” She said, revealing some of her own mind, thoughts and all that were her own. It was funny, how much Scarlett didn’t mind sharing things about herself to Theon. She knew he would listen, take her words into account like they mattered. That reassured Scarlett a lot about being there, because Theon was here for her, not what men usually want to happen at the end of a date. As they ate, their conversation turned to movies and she grinned back. It was nice that they had a similar taste in movies, proving them to have more in common than they had at first, and she liked it. At the question turned back to her, she smiled and leaned back in thought. “I’ve always loved Film Noir. It’s beautiful, and I would strive for a femme fatale role, because they are portrayed as strong women who aren’t dictated by a man, even in the nineteen-forties.” She blushed a little at the revelation, not really having had an opportunity to share her preferences on the Film Noir genre to anyone, and she was loving the fact that she could now. That it was welcomed. She laughs a little. “I suppose I may be a bit sceptical with the romance, since it’s never how it is in the movies.” Scarlett smiles, thinking back to those she’d dated, not a single person coming even close to the movies, but she hadn’t wanted them to. She wanted to be an actress, yes, but she knew the difference between reality and TV, where everything is much too perfect and much too easy. Scarlett rolled her eyes a bit at his words, a teasing gesture rather than rude. “So I’m special to you, hm, Theon?” She asks, a musical hum in her tone as she takes a step closer to him, green eyes on his. “In such a short while you’ve known me?” She asks, actually curious as to how it was possible, but found herself thinking that there was certainly something special about Theon here, and it was the little things that she’d mentioned before that are creating the bigger picture. But then they were talking about Theon being a nurse, and she bit her lower lip when he knew right away what he was talking about. Scarlett wasn’t brave like Theon was, she’d never be able to deal with the death the way he seems to be able to. Having so much hope of helping those who don’t have long to live, she would just not be strong willed enough to do that. “I think that’s amazing ... I’d never be able to even think about being around death. It’s hard to deal with for me, even if it helps someone.” She admits softly, her voice quiet as she looks thoughtful and shakes her head after a moment. When they finally headed out to the ice, Scarlett agreed with Theon’s words with a nod. “Damn right. And babies fall over all the time.” She reminds him with a soft chuckle and clings to his fingers, loving the feeling of his warm hand against hers, and she squeezed his fingers. She was used to hand holding, and as far as she could tell, Theon wasn’t really used to intimacy. But then they were skating, albeit wobbly, but they were moving and that made her laugh, her face alight with happiness. “Good. Wouldn’t wanna be alone in making a fool of myself.” She teases and smirks a little, her eyes on his face as she comments about looking awkward. The kiss on the hand was unexpected, as well as the flutter in her stomach and she grins. “You look beautiful too. But no one can pull off the ‘I’ve just hit the ice face first’ look.” She moves to take both of his hands as she was growing to be steadier on her feet, moving in a slow circle as she dragged him along with her. The blonde woman moved towards Theon, running her hands along the insides of his arms before placing them around his neck with a grin, hoping that the touches weren’t too forward, but then she wasn’t entirely used to holding back. Scarlett moves close enough to him that their chests are touching, faces close but much too far away and smiles brightly at him, cheeks slightly flushed from the proximity and the activity. “Hello.” She chuckles and moves slowly across the ice with him. “Tell me something more about you. Something interesting, not like what’s your favourite colour or anything.” She murmurs, their bodies still moving as she licks her lower lip. “Cause I really want to know you.” She tells him, intensity in her tone because she did want to know Theon more, he was more interesting than she had expected, and God was she glad she came on this date. Hell, she was glad that he asked her in the first place, her out of all people when he’d never asked anyone out in his life. That made her feel very good about herself. Scarlett moved slender fingers to play with the hair at the nape of his neck, tilting her head as she kept her gaze on him, wide eyed and honest. OUTFIT hereNOTES vnknvkfj these two<3333 [/style]

Keller was genuinely fun to talk to. Even though Theon knew she was young by earth standards – but then again, so was he – she seemed to have so much knowledge and wisdom that just followed her around. The conversation that they shared was as intelligent as it was playful, and the former angel found that he was really enjoying taking the time to just learn about her, and take in little details to which most people wouldn't be privy. Theon felt special that Keller was comfortable enough with him to open up at all, and was starting to become rather fond of her naturally teasing nature, since she made little comments about nearly everything. ”It is my opinion that women are more beautiful, but I suppose all living beings have their pros and cons, regardless of gender. I happen to be of the mindset that every living thing has a special purpose and qualities to respect and enjoy.” To some people, he would sound strange, because Theon knew that there was plenty of hatred, plenty of intolerance in the world, but he just wasn't wired that way. His parents had taught him acceptance and love from the very beginning of his existence, and those were the teachings he wanted to bring into the world, since he was apparently going to be stuck on the earth for eternity. It was a fact that still left a bitter taste in his mouth sometimes, but he was quickly discovering more good beneath the skies, and more reasons to embrace his fate instead of hold onto anger that surrounded the situation. Now, it was all beyond his control, anyway. So why not make the best of it?
”An astute comment – I quite admire those who see the bigger picture, or even acknowledge that one exists,” Theon said, giving Keller a gentle smile. Truly, he knew how vast the world could be, how things that were deemed 'insignificant' by others could end up proving to make a difference. How just one person might not be able to change the world, but could still do their part to change pieces, to influence and leave a footprint or legacy behind – to inspire others to follow in those footsteps and be an example. The world was, in and of itself, a 'bigger picture' of every little thing that existed, good and evil, big and small, and the fact that the blonde knew and accepted these facts was... inspiring, for someone like Theon who lived by these teachings and this integral belief system that he held so dear. ”The thinkers and the open-minded people such as yourself will be the ones who bring about real change in the world.”
As conversations had a tendency to do, theirs shifted to a venue where they got to know more about each others' personal interests. Theon was pleased to learn that he and Keller had similar taste in movies, and thought that perhaps – if this date ended up going over well – they could arrange a sort of 'movie night' together. Theon looked into her bright green eyes and smiled. ”I think you'd play an excellent 'femme fatale.' Not only do you have a more classic beauty, but you just seem like you'd fit right into the Film Noir genre as a powerhouse leading lady.” Theon still hadn't quite gotten used to complimenting people, but he always tried to do so in a way that was honest. It was more cruel, in his opinion, to give false compliments just to manipulate or to fill a space or gap in conversation than it would be to say nothing at all. So, he used them sparingly in most situations, yet with Keller he seemed to find them spilling forth from his lips more frequently than he was used to. Every word, however, was completely true. ”Ahh, movie romance. I would like to think that it could exist in the same way, but I am an old-fashioned sort of man.” What he wouldn't give for the ability to be more debonair and suave like one of the leading men in the Film Noir genre, to be able to sweep a woman off her feet. It was his attempt to do so with Keller, and as they finished their meal, Theon hoped he was succeeding.
Already, she was special to him. Theon hadn't made too many connections in his time on earth, and while he did consider himself to have a budding friendship with Eleyna, and had a few smaller encounters with other citizens of Manuka here and there, he was still very much alone. But his being alone had no reflection on why he enjoyed Keller's company as much as he did – that enjoyment stemmed from her very existence in his life, inherent traits that were all her. ”Is that strange or something? To think highly of someone who one has only known for a short time?” The former angel was still trying to get the 'hang' of modern formalities and adjusting to the ways of the world, but he knew he'd pick up on all the little nuances soon enough. At least, he hoped that he would, and wasn't afraid to ask for help if he could get an answer without sounding like he was a complete alien or unnatural presence in the world. From his knowledge, most humans didn't know that supernaturals existed, and even those who were also supernatural beings didn't always know of the existence of so many other species. For all he knew, Keller was completely oblivious, and it wouldn't do to inform her of things that might make her paranoid of what could be lurking out and around each corner.
The couple took to the ice, and even though Theon was a bit wobbly, he tried to play off of his fighting training and balance from other various sporting activities in the hope that he wouldn't make a fool of himself. Holding Keller's hand was pleasant in multiple ways – the contact and that it helped keep both of them a little bit steadier. As corny as it would probably seem to say aloud, they seemed stronger together as a singular, mobile unit, and the thought made the dark-haired man smile. ”You think I'm beautiful?” His voice wavered, ever so slightly, as his dark eyes traced her face. Of course, he didn't release her hand, and considered for a moment that he'd never heard the term 'beautiful' being used to describe a man before, but he rather liked the thought that she would consider him as such. The shock was obvious, but passed as he slipped back into a place where he was very comfortable with her, gliding across the ice and starting to be a little more at ease, both with the activity and with the blonde.
”If I share, it would seem only fitting that you do the same, Keller.” He teased her a little, then considered all the things he could tell her. He'd only discovered a few things about himself, and didn't have things that were deep or personal that he could tell her without giving too much away. Then, he thought of something, and looked at her. ”I don't want you to be sad if I tell you this... because it's more serious than playful, but... I'm an only child, and I am very close with my parents. But they live very, very far away now and I – I've been very alone in Manuka since I moved here several months ago. You're sort of the closest person to me here. One of even fewer that I find myself starting to trust.” He laughed, a little bit quietly, and slightly ashamed at how honest he was being on an emotional level. Then, he turned to her and held her a little closer, his breath falling slightly toward her lips due to the chill in the air. ”Does that count?”

When she started working at the bar, he was such a close friend to her, and no one could see that. But he had the most beautiful heart, and the most beautiful view of the world, and the blonde knew that that was why she was so drawn to Theon. Since Paul, she hadn’t seen someone so appreciative of the earth and everything in it, and she missed that. The open minded views and seeing all the things in people that a lot miss. “You remind me of someone that I used to know.” She admits to him, a small smile playing around her lips. “He was a good man, but the world wasn’t good to him. I hope that the world is better to you, Theon.” She says, genuinely because Paul was treated horrendously, and it caused his suicide and Scarlett had never been the same after her friend died. It made her not want to get close to people, yet she couldn’t help but want to get closer to Theon. She didn’t mind the almost serious turn of conversation, since there wasn’t always going to be the light and teasing comments, and it was good to know that they could talk about things like that in such a mature manner. Not to mention that she wasn’t expected to be anything. Or rather, Scarlett didn’t feel like Theon expected her to be intelligent, or dumb, or only flirtatious. She was free to be herself and that felt good. Not that she would ever be anyone else, but it just made her tired of the attitude some men had, good attributions or not. “And I’m sure people admire you.” Scarlett said softly, with a small nod on her head that said that she couldn’t think of how people couldn’t. Of course, Scarlett knew that there was no way that Theon was a perfect man, maybe a little naive since some people barely possessed any good in them worth noting, but she had to admire the hope and the faith that he had. She had some of that too, but not nearly as much, and sometimes she wished she could be more like someone like the man in front of her. If this didn’t work out for what this date was supposed to be, Scarlett knew that she would be glad that she’d got to meet the man. She laughed then, a light amusement in her green eyes as he said that someone like her could bring any kind of change in the world. That wasn’t true. She’d sold her soul so she could be an actress. There was nothing remarkable about that. The most that she could do with her open mindedness was defend someone when they were being ill treated. “I don’t think I was made to change the world in any way, big or small. I will just get on by as best as I can, chase my dreams, and let the world change itself around me.” Even if she might not like the changes that would come, Scarlett truly believed that she would be okay with whatever came. She loved talking about movies, and she was glad that Theon accepted the subject so willingly. There had been a few times when she’d gone out on a date for the guy just to keep changing the subject to himself and his interests, and let’s just say that those dates were never the ones that lasted long at all. But they seemed to have a balanced way of speaking and it just flowed, and Scarlett was rarely as surprised as she was then. She felt her cheeks rosing up to a faint red at Theon’s compliments, and even though she was a woman that usually rather willingly accepted compliments like that, she couldn’t really this time because being a leading lady is a dream that still seemed too far away. “You’re very sweet, Theon, let’s hope you’d have the same opinion of my ‘leading lady’ skills if you saw me act.” She chuckles, tilting her head to the side a little in amusement. By now, she knew that Theon was genuine in his words, yet how could he possibly know? “I just get to hope your right.” She chuckles, the truth ringing off her tone because that’s all she wants; To be amazing in this field, to be known for it. Sure, many girls have the same dreams of being an actress, and Scarlett couldn’t tell you what made her different, but she knows what will; she will make it and it won’t be just a dream any longer. Scarlett nodded at his hopes for ‘movie romance’ being possible, but the blonde didn’t believe that it could. Not really. Movie romance always worked out in the end, yet in the real world that wasn’t how it worked. You saw heartbreak every day, people move on to someone who appreciates them. Sometimes the people abused in a relationship never get away, and so on. Scarlett liked to think that she was realistic in her expectations of relationships, because she didn’t want it to be like the movies. Whatever happens happens, and she’d be stronger for it. “I’m going to have to mildly disagree there. Maybe there could be possibilities for romance to be like the movies, but the real world is much crueler. Sometimes you might love someone with your whole heart and have to let them go forever, or even not give up as much people do in the movies and still win. I suppose you can hope, but still be realistic about it.” She gave a small shrug of her shoulders, because she genuinely didn’t know how far she’d go for someone she fell in love with. How much she would be willing to give up, but that might have been because she’s never been in love and doesn’t know what that feels like. At his question, Scarlett had to stop and think. She held his gaze, a soft little sigh escaping her lips, more thoughtful than anything else. “Well you see, it’s ... not strange, just it’s not good.” She reasons, hoping she picked the right words as she brushes some hair off her face. “The fact that you have only known a person for a short while means that you don’t know much about them, you know? And sometimes, if you think too high of a person straight away they end up disappointing you and you wish you’d gotten to know them better before you made up your opinion.” She explained her thoughts in a straight up way, and she didn’t mean to sound pessimistic, she didn’t want to put a downer on anything, but she wanted to explain her opinions. Sometimes that was the fact that people didn’t like about Scarlett. She could be very opinionated, sometimes even judgemental and when people found that out they thought her levels of charm to go down. Some people even still liked her for it, but then she had a lot of flaws and God, did Scarlett know that you could never please everyone. It was basically impossible. The expression on Theon’s face mirrored her own surprise as his expression because, really? He didn’t see it? The blonde wouldn’t describe many people as ‘beautiful’ but that was certainly one word for Theon; appearance, and, as far as she could tell, personality wise. “Not only women are beautiful, Theon.” She tells him softly, giving his hand a squeeze and she smiled warmly at him. “But yes, I do.” She confirms it, and she can’t decide why. His appearance, yes, but it was the innocence in his eyes for one. The wide eyed look of wonder that made her think of such a way, and she was pleased with her deductions of that. But they flowed together well, helping each other balance as they skated across the ice, her slipping more than him and causing her to go into a fit of giggles before they were close to one another on the ice, her arms wrapped around his neck in a kind of dance, yet it wasn’t. Then she was asking him to tell her about himself, and despite herself, she was very curious about the answer. “I can be fair.” She nodded, agreeing to the little deal and looked at him with expectation and curiosity. His words didn’t cause an expression of pity or sadness on her face, it brought the smallest of smiles to her lips and she nodded. “It does very much count.” She murmured and raised a hand to brush a thumb across his cheekbone. “It’s okay to be close to your parents, but maybe moving here is your opportunity. To find a love for new people, make friends as close as family, and you won’t be so alone. Though, I am honoured to be as close to you as you say, Theon.” She tells him honestly, because she was sure that if this didn’t work out romantically, she would still love to be his friend. There was just something about him that she didn’t want to give up, something she needed in her life and was sure she wouldn’t find for a long time. But then it was her turn to speak, to tell him about herself, and she can’t say that she didn’t find the closeness or the breath on her lips distracting, but she just took a moment to think. “I’m ... not the kind of person who accepts friends easily. Quite the contrary, I like to distance myself from people because I lost the closest friends to me.” She looks down for a moment, away from his eyes and shakes her head. “But that seems to be difficult with you, despite myself I really like you, and I really hope that if anything, we can be friends.” She said, not saying that she was ruling out possible romance, but she felt that being honest with Theon would go further and be more appreciated than making things up to make herself seem more interesting. “You know, I wasn’t sure what I was expecting from this date.” She laughs softly, green eyes bright once more. “But it’s exceeded whatever expectations I could have had.” It was true; it was going so well, better than anyone could hope, and Theon was nothing if not a gentleman and she knew that there were no expectations of her after this date, and she liked that feeling. She realised, she would definitely like to see Theon again. With a bright smile, she let go of him, moving to skate away, looking back over her shoulder with a wink, she crooked her finger at him. “Catch me if you can!” She laughed her skating wobbly but she had a head start, though she really wouldn’t mind if he did catch her. Actually, it was quite the contrary. OUTFIT hereNOTES 1826 words. officially the longest post i've written. you're welcome. [/style]

While he was still oblivious to a lot of different, emotional-based responses, Theon was picking up on a sort of melancholy sadness that slipped over Keller's face when she told him that he reminded her of someone she used to know. The former angel supposed that he got the same sort of expression on his own face when he talked about his parents, his family, where he was before he was on Earth, although he could never really come right out and tell most people. He considered himself fortunate enough to be able to open up to Eleyna and tell her things, and knew that she would listen and offer really sound, sage advice, but he hoped that he could get to the point where he could eventually talk to Keller about it, too. Of course, there were still a lot of factors that he'd have to figure out of get over, depending on who she really was. They were still getting to know each other, and while she was incredibly intriguing, and maybe even mysterious in a tempting sort of way, Theon was pretty certain that she was a human. Unlike Eleyna, she probably knew nothing about the supernatural world, so he didn't know how he'd go about beginning to tell her that he wasn't exactly from the same world as her. He hadn't been born on Earth, and this planet was never meant to be his home. Theon's purpose had been to live in the heavens forever and become a guardian angel, just like his parents, only visiting Earth to keep a watchful eye on various charges. He hoped that she could know all his secrets someday, and desperately wanted to earn her trust enough so that she could tell him all of hers, as well. As it was, they were off to a good start. But still, he didn't like to see her sad. ”This man you say I remind you of... he was close to you?” Theon was careful about asking these questions, and gave a soft little smile when she expressed a hope that the world was better to him. ”I believe that life can be positive if you choose to steer your existence that way. I've had... a lot of bitterness, but I feel that if I seek out positive things, and make my existence worthwhile, it will stay that way. Being around you helps, too. With the happiness...”
It might have been a little forward to tell her that she made him happy, or that he felt happiness in a stronger, almost palpable sense whenever they spent time together, because they really hadn't spent much time together, and it was probably too soon. But despite not fully understanding the way that the human – or mostly human – world worked, Theon had a fairly decent grasp on his own feelings and emotions. Sometimes, they tricked him, or he displayed inappropriate ones for situations that weren't exactly fitting of anger, sadness, joy, etc, but he was still learning about how propriety worked, how to function normally, and that was a hard task. Keller, for all the good he saw in her, seemed to think that she was only so relevant to the larger world, despite his telling her otherwise. Of course, he didn't know those sorts of things for sure – he wasn't omniscient – but it was just a feeling he had, that she could be influential in a lot of ways, and hoped that she'd find it complimentary. ”The world will always change, so at least you're accepting of that. But Keller, who are you to say that you're not meant for something larger by chasing your dreams and doing things exactly as you are? The lives you might one day touch, just by doing something you love... you could be an inspiration.”
The way they could just talk to each other, and she was so intelligent made the nerves he'd originally felt about going on a date with Keller ease significantly. No matter what topic they came up with, it seemed that they were open to discussion and taking an interest in the other's viewpoint, even when they disagreed. Which Keller did, politely, with his idea of 'movie romance.' There was a part of Theon, a hopeful, naïve part that did wonder if it was possible, but he knew that part of the reasons why guardians were needed in the first place was because there was free will, and human error. Humans made mistakes. All beings, except for guardians, were all but expected to make mistakes, and in the movies, everything seemed so perfect, like no problem was too big to overcome, and the former angel supposed that maybe it was idealistic and surreal to consider such a thing. Still, he hoped. ”There are many cruelties in the world, but don't you believe that true love conquers all? That real love, pure, soul-shattering love, is worth any sort of sacrifice? That seems to be a general theme to many movies, and could help people overcome the cruelties of the world.” He had seen angels lose their wings for love, which was no small feat, and nothing to be overlooked. He knew that his own parents would have accepted their fate and fallen had they not been allowed to keep him by the Elders and others who made the rules by which all guardians had to abide. Theon had heard stories of war heroes dying for their love of country, for family, for love, for a woman or man, and that seemed to be some sort of ultimate, poetic sacrifice that he didn't choose to undermine. Maybe it was rare, but he'd wager that it wasn't impossible. After all, that was the kind of love that part of him hoped he would one day find.
Theon appreciated that Keller always seemed to be so honest with him, speaking to his musings about already feeling close to her in a logical sort of way that wasn't offensive, and didn't make him feel bad for feeling the way that he did. Not at all. ”I would say that I cannot wait to learn more about you, make my feelings a little more justified, but I'll be as patient as I need be.” Theon said, wanting to tell her also that she likely couldn't disappoint him if she was being real with him so far about what kind of woman she was. So, he gave her a quirky little happy smile, and they made their way out to the ice. They skated around, a little tentative at first because they were both so new to it, and a little shaky on their own legs, but that lent itself to allowing for more contact. Their hands touched, their bodies were close together, and Theon knew that he would do his best to catch the gorgeous blonde if she started to waver or fell. He wasn't always so well-versed in heroics, but this date was already one of his most memorable experiences, and while he knew that she didn't need a hero, didn't need a knight in shining armor, he wanted to be a gentleman. A good man, someone that she would continue to be interested in, since he didn't see his desire to get to know her and continuing to spend time with her fading any time soon.
The former angel even found himself trusting her enough, even though he had such a problem with trust, to tell her veiled information about how he'd left his parents, and how he missed them terribly, and while he didn't expect to find comfort in her answer originally, she ended up giving him a sort of clarity and peace that made his glum expression turn to quiet understanding and contentment. ”They would not want me to be alone, I know this much. And all of this... it seems to vast to not have some sort of purpose for me. I'll find my way, eventually, and make a life for myself without them. I only hope that it'll be something they could be proud of – that's all I ever wanted, was to make them proud of me.” Eleyna seemed to think that so long as he continued to bring good into the world, and be himself, and the man they'd raised, they would be proud of him. Still, he was the type of man to always want to do his best, and bring forth as much good as possible. The world needed it, what with all the cruelties and other darknesses that seemed to be spreading and lurking around every corner.
Keller's detail about herself was also serious, but gave him hope. She wanted to be his friend, and he beamed, his entire face lighting up from the expression. His dark eyes traced over her beautiful face, and for a moment, he was at a loss for words, but eventually found them. ”I'm honored to be in your life at all, Keller. As a friend, or... for anywhere you have a place.” He blinked, and then was surprised when she gave a compliment about the date exceeding her expectations, and before he could respond that he felt the same way, she was skating away rather quickly. His heart shot into his throat – she looked awfully confident, sure of herself now, and was moving really fast. Would he be able to catch her? Theon laughed, the curls bouncing around his head as he took after her, flailing his arms in an attempt to balance himself, and then he caught her. It took them a few laps around the ice, but there she was, in his arms, pressed against his chest as he held her from behind. His grip wasn't too tight, because he just wasn't that kind of guy, and he wasn't brave enough to be forward, but he caught her. ”So... it appears as if you've been captured, Miss.” Theon's words were a little shaky, because the proximity of her body so close and pressed against his was making his head spin, just a little. This was something he had never felt before, but he had to say he liked it. Perhaps even... more than like.
