This time to get away from everything and just focus on one thing; kicking his own ass in the gym. Though he didn't mind doing the normal routine of weights or jogging on the treadmill his preferred workout was kickboxing. He'd been doing it since he was in his teens and it the moves were second nature to him by this point. It not only combined a great cardio workout but gave you some great defensive moves if you found yourself in a tight spot. Which he did, rather often actually. Not that physical strength was something he was ever lacking in kickboxing skills aside. Being a werewolf kind of just automatically gave you an edge in that arena so to speak. Granted his trips to the gym kept him in better shape than some could boast though, werewolf or not.
Standing on the mat in front of the punching bag, Trent finished wrapping his hands, still sporting a scar on his palm from the cut he'd gotten at work a few weeks ago, the sight of it reminding him of the person behind the reason for him needing to get away for a bit. Part of the reason anyway that is. He didn't feel like she deserved getting all of the credit for his current mood. Delaney Tate. The once hunter who had ended up on the receiving end of his werewolf form and was now roaming the planet in ghost form. More specifically doing her damnedest to make his life miserable. Surprisingly enough she hadn't tried to kill him yet though that was likely still in the plans no doubt.
For now though she seemed happy to pretty much make herself at home in his apartment and generally being a pain in the ass. Except for those few times they'd ended up in bed together that is. Who didn't enjoy angry hate sex after all? They were both rather passionate people in general and ridiculously stubborn to the point neither would give in and heaven forbid losing an argument. Not that they ever really planned on it happening but all it took was a shouting match and then one thing would lead to another and bam! Angry hate sex. He supposed it was something of a messed up situation, what with him having killed her in the first place only to be sleeping with her now as a ghost. But that wasn't actually what really even bothered him.
See Trent wasn't a stranger to casual sex and hook ups. In fact you might say he was very much on friendly terms with those particular things. Go out, flirt with a girl, go home with said girl, leave right after the deed is done, never think of it again. It was a fairly simply equation really. No strings attached, no emotions involved. He was damn good at it too, or so he'd thought until little Miss Laney had entered the picture. Because for reasons he couldn't even begin to explain something was different. Trent couldn't even pin point what exactly what but the fact that she was on his mind as much as she was (and not just out of irritation either) told him plenty. And he didn't like it. Not one bit. She was an annoying, stubborn opinionated person that drove him insane most of the time. Nothing more. Which was exactly what he was telling himself over again as he finished strapping on the hand wraps and positioned himself in front of the punching bag. Soon after his frustration was being taken out on the object in a flurry of well aimed kicks and punches. Why pay for a shrink when this existed? |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Oh, I need somebody, needed someone I could trust The Words: ENOUGH The Outfit: here The Notes <333 Jude had become a bit of a health freak over the past couple of months. Well, to be more precise, she had always been concerned over her physical health but in the past couple of months, she had become almost obsessive over it. See, things had been going well for the hunter. Very well. And while it made her happy as all get out, it also turned her into a ball of nerves. For as happy and optimistic as Jude could be, she always doubted her life and herself. She could tell people things would work out genuinely believing it and then turn around and tell herself that she needed to prepare for the worst.
She was always afraid she’d mess something up somehow and never had the confidence in herself that she wouldn’t. And right now with everything going so great with Chandler? Jude couldn’t trust herself to not make a wrong move and bring their whole relationship tumbling down. Every time she was on her own and had free time to think, her brain wandered to that. Which of course meant she started to worry about all the little mistakes that she could make that would cause issues. Basically, it was too much stress on the poor girl’s brain. The only way she could think to get rid of that stress was exercising.
So to the gym Jude went and now on a frequent basis. She was typically the job outside kind of girl but she had found that that still left her with too much free time to think. If she was running by herself outside, she never really focused on working out and it meant her mind wandered to the exact things she didn’t want to think about. When she was at the gym, there were so many different things to focus on; machines and people and just so many different things. The hunter could always find someone to chat with while on the treadmill or lifting weights or something. She was always uber friendly like that.
This time, however, when Jude entered the gym, she found a friendly face. Or well, maybe not quite so friendly but someone she knew at the very least; Chandler’s brother, Trent. Jude was forever hearing awful things about him, but she didn’t believe them to be entirely true. It was hard for her to believe that people were completely evil unless she saw something that would prove it. And even then, Jude was likely to make excuses for that person. It took a really long time and a lot of effort to break her trust, probably one her biggest downfalls in the long run.
Even though Trent was Chandler’s brother, Jude figured it’d be the best think to keep her mind off her worries. Trent was the opposite of Chandler in pretty much every single way possible and what better distraction was there than someone who didn’t remind you at all of the thing you were trying to not think about? So Jude headed straight for Trent, a giant smile on her face. It was how the hunter greeted pretty much everyone, regardless of whether or not they liked her. In all honesty, it was really hard for Jude to tell the difference. She was kind of under the assumption people liked her unless they blatantly told her they didn’t.
But the closer Jude got to Trent, the more obvious it became that he clearly wasn’t in a good mood. Quite the opposite, in fact. He looked pretty pissed off, though over what, the girl didn’t know. Being Jude meant she was going to attempt to play therapist and see if she could help out in any way because she hated seeing people grumpy. “Hey there!” she greeted, making sure to stay clear of his kicks and punches aimed at the punching back. “You look like you’ve been happier,” Jude observed, really not sure what type of reaction she’d get out of him. She probably should’ve thought a little more about what she wanted to say before walked into the situation. |

Each jab and kick seemed to ease away a little more of his frustration and he was finally notthinking about anything other than his current activity. It was a good feeling, just putting his all into the effort he was exerting and not giving two shits about anyone or anything else around him. Beads of sweat were already beginning to form upon his forehead, dampening the dark almost curls at the edge of his hairline. Physical activity, cure all for a bad mood, at least in his case. Even in a slightly irritated mood though he wasn't the type of guy to hole up by himself or avoid contact with the rest of the world. If anything he tended to throw himself out there to get his mind off of whatever it was bringing him down or in this case making his blood boil.
So when the sound of a familiar voice ring out in his direction he didn't try to ignore it or give a 'back off' sort of glare. On the contrary! Especially after seeing just who the voice belonged to. Jude McElhaney, adorable if not crazy person who was entertaining as hell in Trent's opinion. And most importantly, dating his brother, Chandler. Or at least he was going with that assumption. Boy barely saw the kid and when they were in the same room together it was usually a forced occasion involving some sort of family gathering. Small talk was exchanged but usually nothing more.
Trent couldn't say he was entirely ok with the way their relationship was so very strained but not enough to really do anything about it either. You probably couldn't find two more opposite siblings if you tried. Trent was the athlete, Chandler the scholar who earned straight A's. Growing up Trent had always loved shifting with their father and learning that side of their ancestry. Chandler had always tolerated it but it wasn't too hard to tell he wasn't all that into it like Trent was. Him being so much smaller (in wolf form at least) than Trent always seemed to intimidate the kid and honestly had his brother scratching his head because the guy was a moose in human form. Trent was no shorty by any means but even he had to look up a bit to look the guy in the eyes.
Suffice it to say communication between them was not often or much so when he assumed they were dating it was only because of things he'd heard from Harper and Cam mostly. He had to give it to the kid, he had damn fine taste. Dressed for a workout she honestly didn't even need in his opinion, though he figured she was likely here for the other benefits aside from losing weight. The wide smile that had been on her face turned into a more scrutinizing look the closer she got though, obviously picking up on his mood, not that it deterred her from continuing towards him. Another thing he liked about this girl. She was ballsy. Didn't beat around the bush. Her remark concerning his mood actually brought a little quirk of a smile to the corner of his mouth, not missing a beat in his kicks and punches as he returned sarcastically, "What're you talking about? I'm happy as a freaking clam,"
Giving one last hard punch to the bag in front of him, he stepped back, breathing a little harder than when he had started but not overly so. Glancing at her, he raised an eyebrow quizzically, "Flying solo tonight I take it?" A lot of the women who worked out here seemed to find it necessary to bring a gaggle of friends with them, not that he was complaining about having hot women to stare at. Still he liked the fact that she wasn't the type to follow the norm. Even though he'd only met her a couple of times he got the impression she was the sort who bucked at that type of thing. Which only made him like her more as a person. Yep, he would bet a good chunk of money they could stir up some trouble if you set them loose in the proper setting.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Oh, I need somebody, needed someone I could trust The Words: ENOUGH The Outfit: here The Notes <333 Personally, Jude never understood why Chandler and Trent didn’t get along. Clearly, Jude liked both of them. She entirely adored Chandler and she found it hard to comprehend that others didn’t. But she also really liked spending time around Trent. He was blunt in a way that most people weren’t and it always cracked Jude up. Besides, he seemed like a pretty good guy too, as long as you didn’t catch him at the wrong time. But Jude figured that was how it was with everyone. Everyone had bad days. They couldn’t be blamed for it. And with such two wonderful brothers, Jude couldn’t get why they weren’t best friends. She had tried asking Chandler about it, but it didn’t seem like a topic he was too comfortable with so she didn’t push him.
But it could also be because Jude was used to her siblings. She was the youngest of five kids and the only girl. Of course it had meant endless teasing for Jude. Her brothers thought it was hilarious to poke fun at the baby sister and tickle her until she almost peed her pants. They still got along though. As much as Jude’s brothers liked to torture her, they were the only ones. They were super protective over her when it came to anyone else and she couldn’t help but love them. Jude had just kind of thought that was how everyone was; you might not always like your siblings but they were family so you had to love them. Then again, none of it was really Jude’s business. She just thought it was a shame they didn’t get along. Didn’t mean she couldn’t hang out with both of them though.
“Yeah? You looked pretty angry when I came over here,” Jude teased, a smile on her face. “But if this is you happy, remind me that I don’t want to meet you when you’re angry.” At least he had a sense of humor. Jude always loved when people did. Otherwise they just kind of seemed boring and grumpy to her. She knew it was wrong to assume that about people – she hated when people assumed things about her – but what was she supposed to think when they didn’t joke or smile or seem to find really anything funny? But she didn’t have to worry about that with Trent.
He asked another question though and Jude shrugged. “Just trying to get my mind off of things,” she admitted. “Thought a work out would help.” But honestly, it wasn’t really going how Jude thought it would. She had started talking instead, which meant her mind was going to wander towards exactly what she didn’t want it to. But well, that was kind of typical Jude; her plans rarely ever went as she planned. She always ended up veering off course, even when she had the best of intentions. That was just what happened when you had little conviction to follow through, she guessed.
Maybe this was good, though. The hunter doubted that Trent wanted to play therapist for her, but he was hear and who knew Chandler better than his own brother? Even if he didn’t want to really talk about something like that, maybe he could at least tell her she was being ridiculous? Jude guessed she was kind of asking for a lot out of someone she barely knew, but Jude had a habit of doing that. She kind of forgot what was socially acceptable and what wasn’t. She just kind of did her Jude thing and went about her way.
“I’ve kind of been worrying I’m not good enough lately, ya know?” Jude started, pausing to try to figure out what she wanted to say. “It’s kind of always there but…anyways. Chandler went to the zoo with some best friend I’ve never met and I guess it has me a little worried.” The hunter let out a nervous little laugh and shrugged her shoulders again. “Sorry for dumping that on you. I’m just being silly. Do you want to see who can run faster on the treadmill?” Jude had realized that once she admitted what had really been bothering her, she didn’t want to talk about it anymore. Instead, why not a little friendly competition?

She was just about as blunt as Trent though in a more innocent way maybe and the girl was straight up hilarious. Not to mention gorgeous. Yep, he was more than happy with the little bro's pick and if he hadn't been already finding himself stuck on a certain petite blonde he likely would have flirted with Jude more just to piss him off. Cause pissing each other off was apparently how they liked to show each other they cared. He wouldn't actually try and steal her away or anything. Even he had his boundaries and that was not a line he would ever cross.
Besides the picture he'd gotten of Jude so far told him that she was a one and done sort of girl. Which was a good thing seeing as Chandler was Trent's polar opposite when it came to woman (and well most everything else in life) and bouncing from girl to girl wasn't exactly something he remembered to be a habit of the guy. Trent had always teased him about his lack of game with the ladies throughout high school although (and he would vehemently deny it if asked) he'd beat up a few kids after hearing them bad mouthing Chandler in the boy's bathroom one day. Just because they didn't get along and he picked on him more than anything didn't mean just anyone else could. You mess with Chandler (or any of his family really) and you messed with him.
He gave a bit of a smirk at her rebuttal concerning his mood glad that she clearly wasn't intimidated by the look on his face earlier. Most people probably would have gone the other direction to avoid the possible wrath. She'd guessed right though he'd been angry, though more at himself than anything so therefore being presented with the bubbly, smiley person that was Jude didn't bother him in the least. In fact he was glad for the distraction because despite his best efforts at putting all those unwanted thoughts to the back of his mind they hadn't been going away. Not quickly enough for his preference at least. Damn that woman for being so good at sarcasm and sex.
"I'll make sure to let you know so you can steer clear," He said with a wink, adding with a grin, "Although personally I think I'm a gem to be around no matter what mood I'm in at the time," Granted there were probably few people who would agree with that statement said in jest though it was. Chandler for one would likely give a pretty loud scoff and Delaney too no doubt although that woman wouldn't admit to liking anything about him under threat of death (however, ironic that figure of speech was for her now). Pulling of his gloves absently as she answered with a shrug about hoping to get her mind off of thing with a workout he gave a 'ahh gotcha' sort of motion with his head. "Must be the day for it then cause didn't really help me much either," Not at all actually. This conversation with Jude was doing a better job just in the few moments it had been since they started talking.
Throwing his gloves on the bench behind him, he started unwinding the bandage style support wrapped around his hands, a slight tilt of his head being given at the uncertain start to her next sentence. Tossing the one set of bandages aside he began working on the other, suddenly understanding the context of her first remark about herself at the mention of Chandler and this mystery friend of his. "Took this friend to the zoo huh? Well I wouldn't worry too much cause legit the least sexy place he could have picked if something was up. Kids everywhere and the aroma of animal shit," The words were stated with a scrunch of his nose and a shake of his head, hoping that'd help further her assurance to not worry too much. Not that he would have pegged Chandler as the type of guy to do that to his girlfriend. That was more up his alley really.
"And dump all you want. It makes me feel important," He returned with a playful grin. "I wouldn't worry too much about it unless this friend starts getting more attention than you in which case you hunt her down and kick her ass," Her challenge was met with an even wider grin. "Oh, sweetheart, you're gonna regret asking me that," If there was one thing Trent loved it was a challenge and competitive person that he was there would be no letting her off the hook either. Thankfully Jude seemed equally competitive and obviously had as little worry about the embarrassment factor as he did. Chandler was probably going to wish he'd kept her away from him soon enough seeing as the likelihood for trouble was high when they were together.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Oh, I need somebody, needed someone I could trust The Words: ENOUGH The Outfit: here The Notes <333 Hearing that from Trent really did help Jude. See, it wasn’t that Jude didn’t trust Chandler. She trusted him unconditionally and more so than just about anyone else she knew. So it wasn’t like the hunter was afraid of him cheating on her behind her back or anything because she knew he’d never do that in a million years. She would have to not know him at all to begin to think that that was a remote possibility. What Jude was really afraid of was that her faults would get to be too much for Chandler to handle. She knew that her forgetfulness and clinginess and high energy could drive people mad. Eventually there was a breaking point where a person decided they wanted nothing to do with her anymore.
It was a constant fear of Jude’s that that day would come with Chandler sooner rather than later. She was afraid that if he was hanging with other girls who were normal, he’d really see the contrast and that day would come sooner. Jude wasn’t saying that she didn’t want him to have friends either though, even though it kind of sounded like that. She wanted him to hang out with whoever he wanted to. The whole thing was beginning to sound like a mess, though most of it could be attributed to the fact that Jude’s mind was a mess.
Honestly, all of this probably wouldn’t have been bothering her if things weren’t so perfect between them. That was the scariest thing to her. Who didn’t want a perfect relationship, right? But it was something Jude had never really had before Chandler. Everything before him had been a mess, seeing as how her love life had been riddled with one night stands and boyfriends who couldn’t seem to limit themselves to one girl. Jude had been conditioned to prepare for the bottom to fall out at any given time. But it wasn’t like that with Chandler. There weren’t any cracks that she could find, no faults. She had grown so used to being comfortable with Chandler, to not worrying about anything, that it was like she was trying to find something to worry about. Because at this point in their relationship, Jude really wasn’t sure what she’d do without Chandler in her life and she had never quite been that dependent on another person.
Trent confirming that Jude was worrying about nothing was helping her to push away the imaginary crack. All Jude really needed was that reassurance, at least a little bit. It wouldn’t rid her of her worries entirely, but it’d distract her for long enough to feel some sort of peace. Long enough until she’d see Chandler again because whenever she was with him, she never thought about things like this. But hanging out with Trent was a really good thing too. The way Jude was thinking, it made it sound like her spending time with Trent was purely selfish and while some selfishness might’ve been involved, she really was glad it was Trent she had ran into and not someone else. He was a good guy, even if it wasn’t always apparent and he really did help to lift her mood.
“Thanks, Trent. Like a lot. Thanks a lot!” Jude said, smiling back at Trent. She really did mean it. Just the couple of minutes they had been talking had lifted a weight off her chest. He just had a way of putting everything into a perspective that Jude somehow seemed hell bent on ignoring. She probably would’ve spent the rest of the day being a nervous mess if she hadn’t had the chance to run into him and she was very grateful for that. She didn’t really know how to express it well enough though, other than with her oddly worded attempt at a thank you.
Jude didn’t have to remain to sentimental for long, seeing as how Trent picked up on her challenge almost instantly. The hunter placed her hands on her hips and tilted her head in a boastful sort of manner. “Oh yeah?” she challenged, a smile on her face. “I think you’re wrong about that. Race you there!” Jude shouted, suddenly tearing off in the direction of the treadmills. She looked like a giant five year old, dodging in and out of machines and other gym patrons. There was a high chance that the girl would never grow up.

Granted he also enjoyed getting on certain people's nerves too but only if you weren't someone he cared for much. Jude, on the other hand, was someone he did actually really really like and he didn't like hearing that worry in her voice when it came to her relationship with his brother. They might not have been as close as some brothers but he'd grown up with the guy and honestly if anyone knew him it was Trent. And if there was one trait he could say Chandler had it was loyalty. He wouldn't have cheated on Jude, or any girlfriend, no matter how bad things might have started to go between them.
Which, judging from the glowy look in her eyes when she mentioned the kid, were going absolutely hunky dory despite her worries. He was glad his brother had found someone like Jude. The guy needed some crazy in his life. And by crazy he meant off the wall, laugh out loud funny and all in all a hoot to be around sort of person. People like Jude were really some of Trent's favorite to be with because they were almost always up for anything and would literally just go for it. Yeah he was pretty sure if he and Jude were left alone for any amount of time they'd either end up in jail or lucky to make it back home in one piece.
Her enthusiastic thank you's really did make the werewolf feel good that his words had seemed to genuinely helped lift that cloud hanging over her head. She was such a bubbly happy person normally that it seemed a shame she have to spend any amount of time sad or anxious. Chandler really should have considered himself lucky that Trent hadn't met her first because could there really be anyone more adorable and as much of a little kid still than Jude? He might have been more disappointed that she was already taken and obviously adored his brother had he not had a certain blonde ghost on his mind these days. She was a bit more of a challenge than Jude in terms of earning even so much as a smile that wasn't given sarcastically. A fact he actually enjoyed way more than he probably should have, oops.
"No problem," He returned with a grin, clearly quite satisfied with himself even if it had been given genuinely. "I'm here Tuesdays and Thursdays, evenings only," A teasing tone was added in then and he smirked mischieviously. Really the idea of him actually giving out advice to any poor sap who wandered in was a terrifying idea seeing as he'd just as likely encourage any terrible ideas than caution against it. The playful grin only widened as she accepted his counter challenge and he took off after her as she tore away towards the treadmills. He didn't have a hard time catching up to her though in her defense he did have a slightly unfair advantage in terms of speed and agility thanks to those wolfy traits of his. Still they reached the machines at almost exactly the same time and he jumped onto the closest one. "First one to reach the fastest speed without falling on their ass wins,"
