PHOENIX'S LIFE
Phoenix's story is not a normal one. She did not have a family to grow up with. She lived in an orphanage, but thankfully it was a supernatural orphanage so there was no need to hide anything. The supernatural orphanage was set up strangely, but to Phoenix it was home. From the moment she was in the orphanage she felt okay with it. Most kids hated the idea of being in an orphanage and that their parents didn't want them. Phoenix never had that feeling. It never had bothered her and she knew that it was for a good reason. Her mother would have never left her without good reason. The good things about supernatural orphanages were that the parents when giving away the child was forced to fill out an application with their species, their gender, their reason, etc. So Phoenix knew from the beginning that she was a shapeshifter and that her mother gave her away for two reasons. One reason was because she was only sixteen and a single mother and the other reason was because hunters were after her. Even though Phoenix always wanted her mother to be with her she knew that it was best that they weren't together. Phoenix also made sure to never share this information because well...she wasn't supposed to know all of this. These papers were filed away, but Phoenix couldn't resist looking at them. The curiosity was killing her. But the knowledge that her mother left for her own good kept her from resentment. It kept her happy.
Even though Phoenix was a timid, quiet child she was always reprimanded for running away and causing trouble. The young blonde was always confused. She never did anything!? Well...maybe she did in those times when she blacked out and never remembered anything. Phoenix had no idea how it happened or what she did during that time. It was strange though. Sometimes she'd wake up in the strangest places that she had never even seen before. Phoenix guessed that the police had gotten tired of her by the age of eight because she was always going there so they'd drive her home. It wasn't her fault though. She had no idea where she was or how to get home. But sometimes it seemed better to just stay in the unknown places because when she got back home the glares and the talk. Phoenix just guessed the other kids were jealous that she got to go out and they couldn't. It wasn't like she wanted to get out though!? Phoenix hated being lost and being scared. Though it was nice to be alone. Phoenix was a bit anti social or so she was told. The other kids just didn't understand her and she was scared they wouldn't like her. The kids weren't as bad as the talk that they adults gave her. It was always the same. It consisted of how she wasn't allowed to go out without permission and that she could have been killed by hunters. And how she was being stupid and ungrateful because she had been saved by her mom so she wouldn't have to worry about hunters her whole life.
The thing was that Phoenix didn't get was why a hunter would want a shapeshifter that couldn't even shift. That's right Phoenix couldn't shift. She knew that it was probably a coming of age kind of thing because all of the other kids started to realize their abilities when they hit around 13 to 16. Phoenix was 17 though and she never shifted. She knew she was supposed to choose her animal or something, but no matter what she did she couldn't shift. Phoenix wanted ask the other shifters, but well....she was scared. Phoenix was always scared and many of the kids thought she was mute because she never talked to anyone. Many times she just sat on her bed and read ahead in school. So it was needless to say that she was smart, but she wasn't a genius. She just worked harder than most children because she had nothing else to do. Sometimes Phoenix liked to pretend that the reason she was never adopted was because she was so shy, but she knew the real reason was her constantly running away. Yes, that still happened. Phoenix never outgrew it and it only got worse as she got older. Phoenix blacked out more often and ended up in places she had never seen before. Sometimes they weren't even in Manuka. The strangest thing was that sometimes she was covered in blood. It was frightening and horrifying to the shy girl. Of course ran away as fast as she good and got rid of her bloody clothes as soon as she could. All these disappearances caused Phoenix to cut herself off from the other kids. She didn't want to be a freak to them out and she didn't want to lose them when they realized how weird she was.
When Phoenix was 18 she left the orphanage and graduated high school like a normal teenager. Phoenix bought her own apartment with some of the money she had from the few miscellaneous jobs she had that she eventually lost from the disappearances she had. Thankfully Phoenix received a scholarship to North East University. Phoenix was surprised that she wasn't kicked out though because she always ended up in missing half the classes and would find herself in places she wasn't allowed to be in. They kept her though and her scholarship stayed. So that's where Phoenix is now. In North East University still blacking out and ending up in weird things. And even to this day she's can't shift, but has excepted the fact that maybe she never will shift.
SAPPHIRE'S LIFE
Sapphire's life was not any more normal than Phoenix's. It was probably even more complicated. So you're probably wondering, what happened when Phoenix blacked out? Sapphire happened. Yes, Sapphire and Phoenix suffer from multiple personality disorder. And yes, Phoenix can shift. She shifts into Sapphire. I know this is probably really confusing, but stay with me and let's start from the beginning. Let's hope we can fill in all these holes.
For as long as Sapphire could remember she was in the orphanage. She didn't exactly like the kids there. They all looked at her weird and when she tried to talk to them they ignored her like they didn't know her. They had to know her! She had been there forever. She was like them. Her mother and father didn't want her. Whenever she asked the people that ran the orphanage why her mother gave her up they acted like they didn't know her either! They even asked what her last name was and when she told them it was Tyler they accused her of lying. She wasn't lying!? Why would she lie? That was why Sapphire ran away a lot. She didn't want to be in there. They didn't even know who she was. And she didn't care if she would get in trouble. She never did though. They never found out. It was weird though. Sapphire blacked out a lot and didn't know what would happened when she did. All she knew was that when she did she ended up back in the orphanage. Obviously they found her and brought her back. That bothered her a little, but at least she wasn't yelled at. That was a relief. She hated being yelled at.
Sapphire was eight when she met her first love. He was a hunter boy and the only one that ever got to call her Flicker. He actually gave her the nickname. To him the name Sapphire was weird so he came up with Flicker. She guessed it made sense because Sapphire had Fire in it which was a flame and flames flickered. It was strange, but Sapphire found everything he did adorable. Anyway, Flicker was a pretty awesome nickname. From the moment she saw her she was in love with him. He was her everything. They were best friends and soon they were hunting buddies. By the age of nine the hunter boy shared the way of hunting and told her all about the supernaturals world. He told her how supernaturals were terrible and needed to die. Even though supernaturals did nothing to her she hated them too. She hated them because he did. She wanted to be able to share things with him and she was afraid if she didn't like supernaturals that he wouldn't like her.
The two didn't kill supernaturals because they were too young, but they tracked them down. Once they turned around eleven though they started killing them. Of course they were a team. They took them down together and became inseparable. The only time they weren't together was when Sapphire went back to the orphanage and it seemed that whenever she did she blacked out. Actually, whenever she wasn't around the hunter boy it seemed like she blacked out. It was strange. But this only made her want to be around him more often. She felt special around him. She felt wanted. It was hard to tell if he felt the same way about her, but it seemed clear to Sapphire when they were thirteen and he kissed her for the first time. That was Sapphire's first kiss because Sapphire never hung out with other guys and all she wanted was her hunter boy. Sure, some of the boys at the orphanage were nice, but none were like her hunter boy. He was perfect. At least to her he was.
Tragedy struck between the two when he moved away from Manuka because his parents had a new target that was far away. It broke her heart and caused her blood lust to overcome her lust for the hunter boy. Sapphire found that by the age of fourteen that her curves were attracting men of all ages. It didn't take her much effort to think of the idea of using her body to kill supernaturals. So Sapphire lost her virginity to a boy in the orphanage after finding out it was a supernatural orphanage. Imagine how stupid she felt, but hey she didn't know about supernaturals for awhile and she barely spent anytime there. Now she had all the time in the world and she decided to kill him. She lost her virginity to him in the bathroom. Maybe not the most romantic place, but it was quick and quiet. Then she killed him. She didn't even care. She cleaned it up nicely and no one knew. Sure everything asked about where he went, but no one ever asked her. Sapphire rarely talked to any of those people anyway so it was almost like she wasn't there.
Sapphire continued sleeping with people then killing them, but when she was eighteen she was finally out of the orphanage. After graduating she decided college was a waste of time and just bought herself an apartment with the money she got when she did a few assassinations. Sapphire rarely worked for people when hunting, but she did occasionally just for money. Something that came with being eighteen was alcohol. Sapphire had never had it before and it changed her life. The club became a normal place for her and ever though she wasn't legally able to drink she never really gave a crap. It was her life and it changed Sapphire. It gave her back her more carefree attitude and laid backness that she had when she had her hunter boy. Sapphire became less of a bitter person and became more enjoyable and like herself. Still she hunted, but it didn't become her whole life like before. Also the club helped her lure the guys in to kill them.
Now Sapphire is doing what she always does. Drink, partying, screw, and kill. The strange thing is that sometimes she'll end up in this apartment full of college books and what not. Sapphire found stuff like this was becoming way too common, but hey blacking out was becoming normal for her. It was her life.
