[style=width: 400px; height: 3px; background-color: lightgreen; margin-bottom: 5px] [/style] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------this seems impossible [/style][style=font-family: 'Verdana';background-color: #d3ccc6; width: 400px; font-size: 9px; color: #515453; text-align: left;] Although there were a couple of differences, Weston pretty matched his whole stereotype. At the moment, he was trying to figure out the one about the whole ‘shopping’ business. Like any other guy on the face of the planet, he loathed clothed shopping. Going line after line and trying on all the stupid things. He would much rather buy it and figure out if it fits later, but then it ended up being a little bit of a play on him. There were very few times you would ever find Weston Lee Patton inside the walls of a department store unless he was quite literally kicking and screaming. Even when he was a little boy, he would a little brat in all of the shopping areas. His mother was always furious, but his father understood. After a while, they just stopped bringing him and he would get things for birthdays and Christmas. Which was also a tricky part since his birthday was so close to Christmas, but it meant more for him at once.
Special occasions called for it. His newest female friend- Jenna- needed some clothes. The first time he met her, she had on a very nice fur coat. Turns out that was just about it. Whenever meeting her after that event happened, he found that her clothes were… alright. He wasn’t exactly an expert on style, but he knew her clothes were a little ragged. He also discovered she didn’t have a lot of money and only income that came in was what she got working at the bowling alley. It was a little bit of an obligation, but it was Christmas! He was going to get her what she needed. The only problem was that if Weston went in the store by himself and just deciding to search the isles, he would pick what looked like the best t-shirt and be on his way. He wanted a little more than that. If he was going to get a gift- he was going to get a mother fucking awesome gift.
Which meant he searched his phone. For some reason- his best friend was busy, so he had to go with his other resources. It was amazing how many women Weston actually didn’t know until he looked through his phone and discovered all it. He thought he knew plenty of people, but none of them seemed the type to go out with him. Some he was too afraid shopping would be too much like a date. As Weston had been a little dating whore when he was in high school. He knew what all of it meant and the impressions he could accidently give. He lead women on all the time. Although those were a little different leading ons, but all the same. Finally, the name came to him and there he was outside of her house, waiting. She came from a giant mermaid family that was all about properness and such. His parents were both mermaids, but that was the extent of his little family tree. He was sure if he had to ask her dad’s permission, he could get it. Hopefully it wasn’t going to come to that.
He rang her doorbell and leaned back in case the door opened his way. That was always a nice impression. Getting hit head first with a door swinging your way because you didn’t have the sense to step back. It was pretty cold out. He had his little beanie hat (don’t make fun, kept his head warm and that was all that mattered) and a big jacket. His hands were deep in his pockets as he bit his bottom lip. Winter had been much nicer other places. He had been tempted to go on a cruise or something, but a cruise by yourself had to be one of the worse things he could do. All of the checking in and having to go ‘yeah, just by myself’. Weston was a thriving social bug and he survived on social activity. Without it, he was just this lost puppy standing in the street. He heard the door crack open and he gave one of his million dollar smiles. Here went nothing. Hopefully she could provide some sort of guidance of what women want.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] Am I bright enough to shine in your spaces? Antala was busy practicing a rather difficult piano part when the bell rang. Normally she'd jump up and run to open the door, curious for any type of distraction from from her obnoxious family, even if they had servants to open the door, but now the mermaid was too busy focussing on her piece of music to even notice it. Ever since he rmeeting with Luka and especially Jamila's departure fromt he mansion, Antala had engulfed herself in extracurriculars, projects and music, above all music. Normally she'd talk to Jamie about the obnoxious Luka Lahey who annoyed her in every single possible way, if they met on accident and even went as far to annoy her in her mind and dreams. Rational Antala should be familiar with the signs, she had had them before with the bad boy type, but she was far from ready to acknowledge those when it came to the inglorious fallen angel. Plus, it wouldn't matter. The mermaid's attraction would pass and she'd never allow Luka to know about it, nor share her feelings in any sort of fashion. The girl had long ago noticed her weak spot for assholes like Luka Lahey and knew it was a lapse she ahd to take care of. A perfect dsughter did not fling with bad boys, especially not when they weren't merpeople. Jamie had never seemed to care, hooking up with whoever she wantd, but ANtala was not like that, as much as she wanted to sometimes, she could never be like that. she was scared, not ready to face the world, nor the consequences of her parents' wrath. she was scared as a fuck to prick through the Adrastos' safety bubble and yet so curious. But the fear won and miss Adrastos didn't take the leap, like her older sister had. Her slim fingers gently and gracefully descended on the piano keys, her eyes scanning the sheet music with one of Chopin's murderous compositions on it. she allowed herself to be taken away by the music and stop thinking. antala always had the tendency to overanalyze things all the time. she had to stop that.
"antala, someone at the door for you. a merman"
she got distracted from her music by the unpleasantly shrill voice of her oldest sister aquana, whose eyes glittered at the idea of seting her youngest sister up with a handsome merman. it drove the brunette nuts, since she had no time for dating and she had always hated the pressure her family laid on he . now that aquana was engaged to be married, jamila as lesbian as one could be and the fact that nobody really cared about akakios (poor hermes), the focus on antala's lovelife was crushing her. she was constantly being told that if she kept this up, she'd become an old spinster, unloved and unmarried, though for antala marriage or no marriage would make no difference on whether she would or would not be loved. the girl had accepted the fact that she would not get married out of love, that she'd never know what it was to kiss someone you loved and who loved you back, that the moment she'd lose her virginity would be a drag, but antala tried to push the moment forward as long as she possibly could. so her forehead wrinkled as aquana mentioned the merman at the door, here to see her. she was suspicious that her oldest sister tried to set her up again with one of those boring pricks like her fiancée. well antala wasn't having it. she opened her mouth to whine a dismissal at aquana and her blind date, but before she could do anything, the girl was already hauled down the stairs. antala whined once more, but it was of no use.
grudgingly opening the door to answer the unwanted stranger, the mermaid's face brightened as she saw who it was. "Weston! What the hell are you doing here?" she said with a smile, her tone of voice not hostile but curious. anyone knowing weston patton even the tiniest bit knew that he was a big guy with a tiny heart, rough on the outside but fluffy on the inside. antala had to admit she distantly enjoyed his flirting and though he was actually the kind of guy she had a thing for (the bad boy type), surprisingly enough she had never felt the need to act hostile to this particular merman, mainly because despite his big words, he was actually a big teddy bear, sweet as a pie. and yet the tiny brunette was intruiged. weston had never visited her at her house before (luckily, she might add, aquana was insufferable enough as it is already), so she wnated to know why he did this time. without even so much as a call. antala's encounters with the male were more sporadic than frequent and she still needed to figure him out, but she knew he wasn't here to come in and have a cup of tea with her prying family members. "Hmm. Lemme guess. Field trip day?" the mermaid said with a mocking smile, tapping her finger against her cheek. usually when weston called or visited her, he needed her forsomething, crazy as it sounded. sure they had contact sometimes, but mostly when they met up, it was because of some 'crisis matter' or because he needed help. and mostly because his best friend wasn't available at time. but hey, he was her own little piece of tamed danger, so why would she refuse? antala held up a finger to indicate 'one second' and retreated back into the house to put her coat on and push a beanie over her brown curls. As she reappeared, the girl called a goodbye into her big ass house, to tell her folks she was gone, closed the door and slid her arm through weston's. antala dug her hands in the pockets of her coat and gently tugged him along. "so what is it this time?" she asked lightly, suggesting he'd better cut to the chase as for why he needed her. words: 1019 - tags: westonnnn - outfit: link |

[style=width: 400px; height: 3px; background-color: lightgreen; margin-bottom: 5px] [/style] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------this seems impossible [/style][style=font-family: 'Verdana';background-color: #d3ccc6; width: 400px; font-size: 9px; color: #515453; text-align: left;] Showing up without warning was kind of a bad habit of his. He supposed going to Callas all the time, he just liked to show up to the Ellis house. There was always an irking feeling that the Ellis didn’t really like a mermaid showing to the door unless it was part of Antala’s family or something. That was alright though. He was pretty much used to it after all of these years. This door that was knocking on he was sure wouldn’t mind him. Weston tried to make a first good impression, half expecting for a father to come at the door staring him down. Alas, he saw the woman he was looking for. What he thought was a sister in the background was frowning deeply at him, but Weston was trying to ignore it. It must have been some sister thing. Not to mention that what he knew of Aquana was that she was kind of a bitch. Weston wouldn’t know though. He had only really talked to Antala. All these interesting ‘A’ names. Weston was named after that one guy off of that one TV show, he was certain.
Her question wasn’t in any insulting manner. Her face was bright and she seemed excited that it was him instead of… whatever else could have possibly been at the door. He’d have to ask about all of that later when the pair were out of ear shot. Please let her be available. Weston owed this chick quite a lot for all the events he had pulled her out of and needed help with. She always did it with a few teasing remarks. Remarks he was able to handle rather well. His eyes peered behind the door for a moment before smiling, ”Basically looks like I’m going to have to owe you… again… this is only my third owing.” That he could remember. There were some that were questionable, but you know, if someday she ever needed him for something, he would be gladly. But she didn’t seemed to need anything. One thing he did like about Antala was that she was very strong. Didn’t care what others really thought about her. Just wanted to curl up and read. Like the Disney princess. Yes- Weston watched Disney movies. He had a childhood, give him a break.
Yeah, she basically called it. Didn’t refrain from him sticking his tongue out at her quite immaturely like the good Weston Patton was known to do. She left for a couple of moments. Weston stood at the end of the door, keeping himself away from whoever else was in the household. He was a social butterfly, but Weston was a little more careful around large families like this. Especially the large family that happened to be of his species. Before he had arrived at Manuka, he could honestly say that he had never once met another mermaid that wasn’t his parents. He always thought he was just this weird mutation. That the stories his parents told him as a child were just something to make him feel less like he was alone. The marines were worse. Having to roll around in the mud all the time. His upper body strength had to be increased so that his legs weren’t going to touch. He had been rather impressed- now looking back- that he had lasted as long as he did. Most mermen would probably be out by the first couple of months in the rain. Weston lucked out. All until the faithful day.
Antala came back moments later, wearing a beanie as well. Making him laugh. By her outfit, he was glad that he picked her. See, that seemed like something that a fashionable woman would wear without it being ridiculous high heels and leather pants or something. He walked arm in arm with her, hopping off of the steps, glad that she was basically agreeing to do this without even hearing the assignment yet. His green eyes glittered brightly as he thought of Jenna. Yes, she was going to have something. He had actually worried about this a little. He didn’t want her to think that… he thought… that she was some charity case. That wasn’t it at all. Weston just thought the woman should have some nicer things. Especially in this cold weather. It was a health thing. Yeah! That’s what he liked to tell himself over and over. Something about her. Didn’t even know of what.
Biting his bottom lip, he said, ”I need to go clothes shopping for a friend of mine for Christmas. I think you can guess that I’m not all that… fashion weary. And you’re a girl. So I just need to get a few opinions.” Stopping in front of his truck. She could very well just laugh at him and turn around to go back into her really big house, but he hoped she would stay. Weston opened his passenger side door, as if her getting in or not was going to be her simple answer to this. ”Pleasseee.” Weston added, making a bit of a goofy smile across his face. Trying to appear like a small child asking for the fruit loops instead of the chex mix.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] Am I bright enough to shine in your spaces? there was something about weston patton that made antala smile. sure, he was a bad boy like they all were, but he wasn't as bad as damon was, or as annoying as luka was. luka lahey literally made her blood boil with all these ironic 'supposed to be funny' remarks, his smart wit and.. well, who was she kidding, she actually pretty digged all that. but shush brain, she couldn't let herself believe that. antala hated him, with damn fiery passion, ever since he had come to ruin her day in the park, standing in her sun. his dog was really adorable though, she had to admit that. his voice kept nagging in the back of her head, taxing her, observing her, waiting for more sarcastic remarks to dish her way about behaviour and for some weird reason she just couldn't get him out, no matter how hard she tried. and she tried hard, really. antala just figured she'd try to avoid him as much as she possibly could, and would be mean and hostile to him if she saw him on accident or whatever. though that hadn't worked before, she was sure the bitch mode wouldn't be amusing for him forever. Or so she hoped.
But with Weston she did not have to be hostile or protect herself for anything. they were friends, if anything, and she did not have those unwanted feelings for him. he was a cuddly bad boy, a tough guy with a fluffy interior and it was why she liked him the way she did. he was a merman, she did not have to worry about what her parents would think of him, although she was sure aquana had gotten the wrong impression so far, or wanted to believe that way, but antala would not explain anything about it. weston and her were just friends and he was the only person apparantely who needed her for something. even if it was probably for something silly, knowing weston. he had something that made her trust him and not put on her defense walls. she liked him, she really did. "Oh please. You have at least five ownings so far." antala chuckled, shaking her head at him, her brown curls jumping along her face. field trip days with weston were always fun, she knew that much.
linking their arms together was so natural, it was something she did not even really think about anymore. they hopped off the stairs like the goofy pair their were, yolo all the way, and were about to move away when the door opened again. antala swirled around, turning weston along with her in the process, so both of them were staring in attina's cold blue eyes, as she observed the two of them. "antala, what time will you be back?" the woman said, her eyes scanning weston from head to toe, before her eyes fell on the little detail of their linked arms. antala cautiously freed her arm from his, digging her hands in the pockets of her jacket. "erm, i don't know mom, before dinner anyways." she said with a faint blush, as if she got caught doing something illegal. with a small okay and a nodd, attina merged into the house again, sending shrudders over antala's spine. "sorry about that." she said with a smirk, sighing a little.
this whole quest in 'finding antala a lover' was really getting on her nerves. but at least she had other things to focus on now. "I'll grab that." the brunette warned as he poked out his tongue to her, her finger raising at him in a stern manner. she could be the stern momma type if she wanted to. linking her arm with his again now that attina was out of sight (though antala knew she'd be thoroughly inquired about this merman when she got home) she listened to him speaking about this friend who needed new clothes for christmas. she smiled at the look in his eyes. "must be a very special friend, wes." antala said, wobbling her eyebrows teasingly at him. she knew weston did not want to be in a relationship, so she was just fooling around with him. but who knew, maybe this was different. antala waited extra long in front of his truck, until he said the magical word please. "ofcourse i'm coming weston, no need to beg." she said with a roll of her eyes, sticking out her tongue at him in the playful way she sometimes (surprise surprise) could have. dropping herself on the car seat, the girl let out a sigh as she caught aquana peeking through the curtains to observe them. "i just wished they stopped trying to match make me. driving me nuts. maybe i should just pay someone to be my boyfriend to get them off my back." antala said with a sigh, fastening her seatbelt, looking at weston. wait, weston... could he? oh, don't be stupid antala, the girl thought, dismissing the idea again. it was just too ridiculous to even consider. "so, off we go I suppose?" she said to him with renewed energie, a geniune smile on her face.

[style=width: 400px; height: 3px; background-color: lightgreen; margin-bottom: 5px] [/style] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------this seems impossible [/style][style=font-family: 'Verdana';background-color: #d3ccc6; width: 400px; font-size: 9px; color: #515453; text-align: left;] Five ownings? Weston felt like that was actually more accurate, but he couldn’t recall what he asked her to do. Really, he wasn’t afraid to ask for help. In high school, he wasn’t really fond of it. Made him look weak, but in the eyes of no one else, Weston was very known for asking for help. That was something that had to be learned. His pride wasn’t worth what would be lost if he were to humiliate himself. That was his train of thought. After so many years of practicing, it was easy for Weston to think of an excuse of why he did things. Sometimes he was asked in a manner that made him almost feel ashamed. So when he came with a logical reason, it wasn’t questioned any further. Guys trusted him and his word on how to do things the right way. Not really proper, but part of the unspoken code between men who were admired.
Still, with all of that being said, Weston wasn’t the one to back down, ”Oh- no, no, no. You can’t outsmart me miss bookworm, I keep track.” It was a lie, but that was okay. Surly Antala was going to know that much about him. Couldn’t keep a tease down. He thought that the pair were just going to slip into his truck, and off to the weird boutiques they went, but it seemed the job wasn’t quite finished. As she was slipping away from the front porch, another door opened. Weston stayed cool and professional, not wanting to leave any terribly bad impressions on a family that seemed rather uptight. He wouldn’t really mention that to Antala, as it would have been rude. Even if it were true, the only person that was really allowed to make fun of her family was herself. Weston would complain about his crazy mother sometimes, but if anyone dare insult her, protective Weston would kick in. So he kept his mouth shut like a good boy.
He tried to make himself even look pleasant. Not just this little manslut walking around with a beautiful woman on his arm- especially since it was her kid. Antala’s mom scared the crap out of Weston, and it was hard to scare a man who looked at fear as a challenge. He still made himself look confident. Strong man. See? He certainly had more pecks than most women did. At the end, he gave a friendly smile, ”I won’t take her long mam, I promise.” It was true. Shopping couldn’t take that long, could it? Just grab a couple of things and go? Although Antala wasn’t his date, he did have practice on having to talk to parents all the time. Weston didn’t date now, but he used to be the little dating monger all throughout high school. He had two long lasting relationships. One he really liked before loving, and the other he loved and married. See how that turned out. When they both walked out, she apologized. Oh please, that was so much better than one of his first girlfriends with the seriously over protective father, ”Aw, nothing. Just protective parents.” At age, what?
Weston let out another laugh and perched his eyebrow, ”You couldn’t reach me shorty.” There was a small challenge within his statement, almost standing straighter just in case he was going to have to dodge a hand. It was easy to kid with her, which was one of the reasons he liked to chat with her so much. Not being able to kid with someone was really hard for Weston, as the guy just liked to smile his way through the rest of life. That was one of the reasons he was in the profession that he was in. Helping people and being able to be social. It wasn’t exactly enough for him to be living large in a mansion like the one that Antala lived in, but he was happy enough.
A crooked smile appeared on his lips. She was special. She was different than the usual friend that Weston had. Still, she meant it differently, so he tried not to react than more than that. Weston didn’t want to get into an entirely large conversation about how she was remarkable. ”Just a friend to get a Christmas present for. Helping her out.” Trying to help her out. Weston didn’t like saying things like that because it made her sound like a charity case. That wasn’t it. He just felt like he needed to… make sure she was okay. The night they met, she was being attacked, and he saved the day. It seemed ever since then, Weston had wanted to watch out for her. At her yes, he grinned largely, ”You’re the best, thank you so much.”
Weston got in and looked over at her. Yeah, that had to be annoying. If Antala wanted to be single and free, damn it, let her. He couldn’t imagine the Ellis clan trying to set Calla up. The thought made him chuckle a little bit. She looked over at him for a little bit, and it didn’t really hit him what he could have done. He probably would have later, but now, he was trying to focus on the terror ahead. ”Ah, just wait. You’ll find the perfect little merman and everyone will be happy. Come on, it’s the written law of the universe.” It seemed that way in supernatural families. Or they put on a really good show. ”Yep! I’m prepared.” Trips to the shops where it was women’s clothes always ended badly.

Post by ANTALA ROSAMARIA ADRASTOS on Jun 16, 2013 9:43:57 GMT
[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] Am I bright enough to shine in your spaces? When you were an Adrastos, freedom did not really come with the package. You were supposed and expected to listen to the rules Attina had set up, or you would be disowned. Antala's aunt Ariel was a great example of that, since she got disowned and shunned for marrying a human, and Antala was never allowed to see her hybrid cousin, who was loathed by the rest. The brunnette couldn't imagine what it would be like to be that person herself, the loathed one, the one nobody wanted to talk to and whose existence got ignored. the mermaid didn't do well with self-dependence and doing things on her own and the protective bubble of her family was one she enjoyed, even if it meant putting her own desires and needs aside and subdue to the wishes of her mother. she had never learned to make her own decisions and do her own thing and standing on her own feet freaked her the fuck out. not because antala wouldn't manage because she wasn't a big baby either, but just because she was afraid to fall. antala wasn't like jamila, she did not have the guts to go against her mother and rebel, that wasn't who she was.
but that didn't mean she wouldn't call you out on your bullshit when you had any. her friendship with weston was a weird one, since he did get her feisty, like all bad boys did, but he also got the sweet side at the same time, like she was acting jokingly feisty to him. She curved an eyebrow at him as he said he had counted, letting out a laugh. "Weston, please, you can't even count to three." antala said with a wink, teasingly smiling at him, as they descended the steps towards the car and antala just wanted to leave as quickly as possible so she wouldn't have to face her mother. unfortunately she did. attina adrastos had the uncanning ability to scare the shit out of anybody she ever brought home, may it be those sporadic decent guys she liked who liked her back, friends, they were all terrified to meet her mom. it was a hard and annoying ability and antala had to admit that even she herself was rather frightened of the head of the family. and she was her mother. because antala knew if she didn't obey the rules, it hardly meant anything to attina. children and men were for reproduction of the bloodline, especially men had no other purpose than that. then why you still had to marry a proper guy was something antala didn't get but it had probably to do with money, status, whatever that shit, and of course he had to be a merman. because no blood would be mixed and no more loathed hybrids on this earth. jamila already had made a pretty bold statement by being a lesbian, and hermes had a hard time anyways, so all focus was on aquana and antala, and aquana fit her role like a tee, but antala was struggling. she was struggling so hard.
because there was still this guy who was always pestering her in her mind, with his smug grin and his blue eyes and- goddamn now she was doing it again. why was it so hard to get luka lahey out of her head? it was never hard to get rid off a bad boy. and the timing couldn't have been more unfortunate as the door swung open and attina's darkblue eyes observed her hanging onw eston's arm. oh shit. that would certainly be misinterpreted. great, just great. she watched her mother as weston gave her his polite answer, and she smiled inwardly because she knwe this was typically weston. even if he was introduced to a mother dragon who was about to bbq him, he'd still be nice and polite. "really mother don't worry about it. weston and i are just going clothes shopping for christmas. that's all." she said, polite and gentle as ever, because attina would rear in anger if she ever did so much as raise her voice a little. every tone that was different than polite and gentle and above all accepting what attina had said, was deemed impolite and rude. and not a tone you should have when talking towards your mother. attina's dark eyes flashed from weston to antala once more slithering back into the house without even so much as a word, she did not even nod or turn her back on them. at weston saying she was just protective, antala curved an eyebrow at him. "weston, my mother is ominious as hell, even i am often terrified of her."
"Uhu, sure, 'just a friend'." antala said with a laugh, clearly half mocking, half teasing him, but she dropped it afterwards. and then off they were into the car and the subject of antala's love life and her controlling family came up to surface, making her frown and get her mood all icky and stupid. she hated how her family thought they could control who she loved and didn't love and while she had accepted the fact that she'd never marry the guy she loved or know what it was like to be loved but that her mother would betroth her to some stranger with nice bloodlines, she just wanted to finish college. she wanted to be able to live a little before going off in some loveless marriage like her mother had and her sister would too. she knew her first kiss would be with some guy she didn't know nor love, that losing her v-card was going to be a painful drag, she knew and accepted all of it. she just wanted to not have to face it yet. "hah, i don't believe in fairytales. apart from that, they probably believe you're my boyfriend now anyways.." antala continued, as the thought of weston being her fake boyfriend occured to her again. maybe it would work. maybe he would help her and her mother would get off her back. i mean.. she could always ask right? pondering a little more on it as they got on their way to the boutiques, antala bit her lip, looking at him again, before twisting in her seat and thinking just to hell, let's just try. "weston.. weston i gotto ask you something, but it's a rather weird request so you're perfectly allowed to say no, alright?" the brunette said, biting her bottom lip. for some reason she was rather nervous that he would freak out on her, even though she knew weston really wasn't like that at all. but what if her question to him would freak him out major time? she didn't want to lose him as her friend. "I- uh, i keep on thinking about ways to get my parents off my back, and the only thing i can think of is when i pretend to have a nice merman boyfriend and since currently they probably think we are involved anyways.. would you maybe.. help me out?" an awkwardly nervous smile followed, helplessly and awkward as she was asking this, but maybe, just maybe he would say yes. and maybe it would work. words: 1206 - tags: westonnnn - outfit: link |

[style=width: 400px; height: 3px; background-color: green; margin-bottom: 5px] [/style] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------this seems impossible [/style][style=font-family: 'Verdana';background-color: #d3ccc6; width: 400px; font-size: 9px; color: #515453; text-align: left;] Being a merman wasn’t exactly something he was super proud of. Not that he was ashamed of it, but out of all the supernaturals he could have been, the whole one step away from being a singing musical playing merman wasn’t the best he had come up with. No, he hadn’t gotten to chose. If he would have chose, he probably would have chose to be a firetamer. Nothing was more badass than someone controlling the cursed fire all around them. Still, it wasn’t a bad thing he was a merman. He completely loved to be in the water. That was something you’d never take away from him. He couldn’t do it very often for obvious reasons, but when he was able to, he usually went to the little island off of the city lines or in the abandoned old gym that no one went to. He also picked the apartment he was in for the giant bath, originally meant so a couple of people could have some… personal time. So for someone like him, it was perfect.
Still, he couldn’t imagine dealing with what poor Antala had to deal with. She couldn’t do anything without her mother sniffing it out like a blood hound. His parents had been pretty forceful on his sports, but other than that, they had been rather flexible. Weston enjoyed his freedom. He enjoyed being able to walk around when he wanted and where he wanted to. All of these opinions would have to be kept to himself though. It wasn’t really his place to say what he thought of her family. She grew up with it, so it must have been just expected of her. Hard, but expected. How anyone was able to just go through that with a smile, he wasn’t sure, but there had to be some system that worked, or all of the children would be rebelling. Weston was sure there was some of that going on, but he didn’t keep up with the large family politics unless he really had to.
She winked and teased him as he gave her a small mocking look. Those kind of comments and flirt teasing he was completely used to. He didn’t even mean to be flirting with her- it just came second nature to him. As easy as talking. Like there was no other way to talk to someone. ”I got to three and a half the other day, thank you very much!” He crossed his arms, as if looking offended, but dropped them at once. People thought that Weston must have had a hurt face for as much as he smiled, but he was so used to it that it almost hurt not to smile. He was a happy guy. His life and career was going well for him. Not very much drama considering all the people around him. He was adored by many. Hated by few. What wasn’t there to love? Even if sometimes, he felt lost in himself, but those were times he never thought about. Out of sight, out of mind type of idea.
The way Antala spoke to her mother was perfect. Gentle and smooth, much like how a servant would have spoken to it’s master. Under that analogy, it did disturb him a little bit. Trying to remain relaxed and calm, he gave a polite smile to the mother, hoping that she wouldn’t reach across and take his head off like her face suggested she might do. However, it seemed her daughter’s words were enough for her and the two were on their way. Weston let out a breath of relief, not realizing he was holding his breath until that point. Women didn’t generally scare him, but no one could really blame him for that. She belonged in the military. No one would be messing or trying to screw with her on the battlefield or in training. When Antala said she was terrified of her mother, he frowned. The relationship shouldn’t have been like that. One scared and the other demanding like that. It wasn’t right. He looked down at his hands before returning back to Antala, ”How do you manage to do anything?” He asked, more curiously than anything else. If she got that look when a friend was taking her out shopping, he couldn’t imagine she was allowed to do much else.
Weston felt his stomach knot up unexpectedly when Antala didn’t believe his just a friend story. Well, Jenna really was just a friend. She’d never allow anything more. Weston knew that for sure. She was one of the first women to question how he acted around his friends and thought that the other him was better than the cocky joker he played off of. Which couldn’t have shocked him more. She was sweet, strong, and independent, yet vulnerable and unsure. She was a mystery, and there was something about her that Weston couldn’t put his finger on. Honestly, he was glad she was still talking to him. ”She is!” He protested in something that sounded like a whine, ”Woman is way too independent. Besides, how am I supposed to be the charming flirt if I’m on my knees for Jenna?” He asked, knowing that if they were like that, that’s probably where he’d be. Weston shook his head. He wasn’t even sure why he’d be like that, but that’s all he could picture. Why was he thinking about it? It brought out those stomach turns again.
He laughed along with her, not really commenting much on her non-fairytale dreams. There was nothing in his bones that said to disagree with her. The happily ever after happened for some people, but not for others. Coming from a man who divorced his one true love, it was hard to have faith in something like that. So he couldn’t really blame Antala for not believing in that. It was something that Weston hadn’t believed in even before marriage. Just wasn’t done. However, she paused and continued. Weston’s face grew more serious as he glanced over at her, not really expecting what she was offering. Weird request? It made him nervous. What could she possibly ask him to do that would be so strange? He listened very carefully, almost seeing what she was going to ask him by the end of the first sentence. His jaw tightened. ”So… you want me to… date you?” Was this a strange way of fake asking him out? Weston wanted to make sure he wasn’t assuming anything differently by her statement, but he didn’t know how there was another way it could be taken.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,width: 350px; padding: 10px; background-image: url(http://i.imgur.com/w6MZf.png);] Am I bright enough to shine in your spaces? Antala had never gotten the need to be the 'better species' or at least feel like it. She had observed all sorts of species, in books, in real life and she knew that every species had their abilities and weaknesses. It was always like that, it was to balance nature and not have all-powerful creatures you couldn't defeat. And though in some occasions it might be insanely hard to defeat them, there is always an option, always a chance. Or maybe she just read books too often, that was true too. Antala loved to read romantic stories, as much as she didn't believe in them, she loved to read them. Jane Austen, all that stuff. Maybe it was her only way to get some romance, since in her own life it was never happening. Guys were scared of her mother, were bad boys or didn't want her, and she often scared them away too. It was easier for her to just stay away from it, since her mom was never going to accept anybody for her anyways, unless it was some fancy merman, but they knew her mother's reputation and most nice, not power-hungry mermean knew when to stay away from a family and staying away is what they did from hers. It was frustrating really, because it wasn't antala's fault that her mother was being like that, it wasn't her fault that their family did what they did, she didn't do all that stuff. her mom was scary, sure, but antala wasn't. hell, she couldn't even be scary if she tried. so why punish her for her mom? it was so unfair and the more antala thought about it, the more it frustrated her, but she also knew how to push it aside, since it had been something she had been struggling with since her teenage years. every girl wants to be loved, but at there is a point where you realize it will not be for you.
The way weston and her were acting towards each other was nothing new to her and she didn't seek anything behind it either. unlike some girls antala knew the difference between friendly, teasing flirting and real romantic flirting, and they were doing the latter, she wasn't either. somehow despite him being a 'bad boy' in some sort of way, she had never been attracted to him, not like that. don't get her wrong, she loved him and thought he was an amazing guy, but something just didn't do it for her. maybe he was secretly too sweet or their conversations went too easily and they too easily fell into the friend pattern, but the brunette was fine with it. she was more than fine with it, since more complications besides her mind being full of luka fucking lahey, when he shouldn't be there at all, was enough for antala to process and work on, especially since she didn't get why that infuriating asshole was there as much as he was anyways. maybe that was thing with weston that got her to not actually fall for him, he wasn't an infuriating asshole. it was so crazy how she could so easily fall for someone like that, not that she was falling for luka, hell no, but those kind of guys were her weakness, and they were always the guys she had to kick out of her mind, but she could do it. she had taught herself how to do it, since she had been doing it since she was way younger. and being an innocent bookworm usually did help with those guys since they weren't interesting enough and tala completely got that. she was rather boring and quiet, unless you get her more alive and feisty side out, but not many did. but mr. patton? oh yes, he definitely did. which is why they could have so much fun together without being actually involved in any way beyond friendship. "oh, weston, i'm so proud of you!" she said with a chuckle as he said he counted to three and a half the other day, giving him a pet on his shoulder.
her face fell a little when he asked her how she did anything at all, since the truth was, she didn't do a lot of things her mom didn't approve of. "uhm, i don't do a lot really, just what my mom says i should do and sometimes i hang out with some friends. not really interesting, i don't party or anything either. only when i go to my sister's apartment i have a little more freedom. but i'm used to it, so it's not that bad." the brunette answered his question, lying a little, since yes she was used to it, but yes, it was also bad. she wanted to explore the world, fall deeply, madly in love and be her own person who she had always wanted to be without her mom disapproving anything, and yet she couldn't. she could only attempt to be a clone of attina and aquana, without really succeeding. antala just didn't have it in her to be a cold, heartless bitch. the girl observed her friend's face as he talked about jenna and being on his knees for her, letting out a chuckle. "you like her! you do!" she said with a teasing grin, playfully bumping her shoulder into his. love stories always intrigued her and fascinated her, especially since she'd never have one herself. so she just watched other people fall in love and imagine how it would be if it would happen to her, even if it was never gonna.
and then they were in the car and her question slipped out, it was more a slip up than anything, a crazy idea that would probably never work, nor did she think weston would ever agree to something like that. the moment it passed her lips, antala wanted to take it back, especially seeing his face, but she really couldn't by then anymore. now that she had gotten this far, she could better just ask it and she had already stated she would have no hard feelings if he said no or anything and she really wouldn't. she bit her lip, shaking her head when he asked her if she wanted him to date her. "well, fake date me. only in front of my family." she explained extra thoroughly, since she didn't want to have any miscommunications about her feelings for weston, since besides friendship she didn't have any. she just needed her mother off her neck and out of her business a little. "you see, my mom's main goal is to find me a suitable merman and get me married, but i just think that if i found a suitable merman on my own, she'd get off my back and i'd have more freedom to the stuff i like and feel less pressured by her. and since you're my friend, i trust you and you're pretty compatible judging by how my mom behaved towards you.. but it was just an idea." she tried to explain herself, awkward as ever, cursing herself for even bringing it up, brushing a hand through her dark hair. "you don't have to kiss me or anything, or be my boyfriend when there's not anybody of my family around, i just need them to think i have a boyfriend so they get off my back." the girl let out a sigh, looking over at her friend, her dark eyes touching his blue eyes as she tried to read his expression. "so, would you help me? please?" she knew this was a lot to ask of him, which is why she had made it pretty clear he could say no if he wanted to, but secretly she hoped he wouldn't and all her problems would be over.
