CALLA VICOIRE ELLIS !?
'let's join forces. we've got our guns and horses.'
'let's join forces. we've got our guns and horses.'
hey there! so, tell us all about you... let's start off with the basics. what do we need to know?
"Oh wow, big question. What do you consider basics, because I consider them to be blue, green, red... All right, I'll start with my name and it is Calla Victoire Ellis. People usually just call me Calla, or if you want, Cal. But that makes me sound like a man, and I'm ninety-nine point three percent sure I'm female. I'm twenty-two years young, but unfortunately I have a babyface. It's tragic, really. Like the rest of my big happy family, I'm on the dark side. That sounds spooky, doesn't it? Like I should be wearing a cloak and wielding a light up sword. Wait, the Sith don't get those brown cloaks, they get nifty black uniforms. Oh, right, interview. So yeah, family is the big Firetamer clan, and I'm proud to call myself one, too. I'm ah...bi-sexual, I guess. I don't discriminate, so for anyone out there I'm an Aries, April 10th, baby."
so, a little birdy told me that you're pretty gorgeous... describe yourself.
"What do you mean a birdy told you, can't you see the gorgeous right in front of you? Okay, I'll be serious for just one moment. I should start by saying my hair's usually a hot mess, blond and reminiscent of a past-his-prime Albert Einstein. I'll put it up if I'm working on something that can get all over the place, but it's usually hanging around my shoulders doing nothing. My eyes are blue, but they have this kind of grayish hue. I think I'm of average height. Is five-foot-six average? And jeez, I can't remember the last time I've weighed myself, but I think I'm healthy. Don't have any tattoos, but I do have a nose piercing. And my ears pierced, too. As for my style, I like to try out new things every day. Sometimes I'll dabble in designing, but whether a garment is a success or failure is up to the judgment of the people who see me that day. I do say that I clean up well."
i'm sure that your personality is something else completely, tell me all about your self, can't wait to hear it!
"So flattering, you're making me blush! I'm very confident and headstrong, I suppose. Always telling people what I think about this or that, very opinionated and passionate. I like being in charge and messes. Love those string cheese things, and doodling, and anything to do with art, really. I also like hamburgers, colorful things, breathing fire, and my pet sugar glider. My favorite thing in the world has to be the smell of turpentine. Not too hot on people trying to do things for me or people trying to tell me to shut up. Speaking of hot, don't like humid days. Let's just say I don't like extreme weather in general. Not particularly keen about sitting around, either. Oh, I also don't like those huge ads on the side of buses, they're just annoying. And so are oranges. I just really don't like oranges. And tonics.
I am really good at just speaking my mind and being honest. Some people may not consider that a good thing, but I don't see anything good about not standing up for something you believe in. I am an exceptional artist, if I do say so myself. I have sharp wit and can think on my feet, but I guess that just ties in with the whole creative aspect. I'm not good at keeping control of my temper. It causes problems. I just say that I'm opinionated. Another thing that gets me in trouble is the fact that I have a one-track mind, and once I'm set on something, there's not changing my mind, even if you have something to say about it. And the thing I am absolutely worst at is math. Cue the thunder sound effects, because it has to be the worst subject God ever gave to this world.
What I really want to do with my life is make a mark in my lifetime, not after I die. And I don't want to have to cut off my ear to make that mark. Privately, though, I have a bit of a drinking problem. I mean, it's nothing big enough that people have to worry about it, it's just my business and I keep it to myself. It's a weakness I don't like to expose, and that's that. I am afraid it might get out of hand, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I just like to live in the moment for now."
i would love to hear about your past, i'm sure it's oh so interesting...
"As you know, I come from the Ellis family, top dog Firetamers. They're amazing people, I should have you know right off. My mother Bidelia popped me out with my sister, Ashlin, and I guess instead of a coin toss, they decided to keep up both. I already had a sister a few years older than me. Pretty much from the day I was born, I always had ways of...expressing myself. Like all children, I suppose. The whole writing on the walls with Crayola and getting paint all over the floor. Colors always appealed to me, caught my eye. And I liked making things too, sculpting out of Popsicle sticks after devouring a box of them. I'm pretty sure my parents regretted teaching me to speak in words, because then my passionate gibberish turned into demands and proclamations of independence. I was kind of a handful, I suppose.
Especially when I started training with my fire. Boy, those were really fun times. Probably not for anyone who came around me when I was particularly mischievous and wanted to practice, but it was so exciting. There was nothing better than playing around with flames, even though sometimes I wasn't the safest with it. But that's all in the past, I'm better now. Family gatherings were the best thing about my childhood, I have to say. I've always loved my family, because they were people just like me. They are all cool people, though of course there's the odd balls and all that. I've just always been close to them and appreciated them in my life.
Then Darby was born, and she was just the cutest little thing. Not that the others weren't, I love my sisters, but her cheeks were just so pinchable. But we soon realized that she was like the black sheep of the family. She didn't really get a handle on her powers until she was fourteen, which was really late considering the three of us were already skilled in that area. I think that bothered her, because she sort of...changed after a while. In subtle ways, but I'm her sister, I noticed! She's still adorable and cute, though, and I need to remind her of that. She just needs to get out there more, to have fun.
Schooling had never been a problem for me, I always pranced through the door with my grades and showed them off like a male peacock with his feathers. So college was just the next step. I went to University, and guess what I'm majoring in? If you didn't guess Art, then this interview has been completely pointless. It's my passion, my calling, and the way I express myself. For the rest of my life, I'm going to be an artist. But I don't know what kind yet, since there's so many mediums. Sculpting, painting, animating... It's ever-expanding!
Unfortunately, it's not the only thing I do in my free time. I have a weakness for the bottle. I know, it's unhealthy and dangerous and I know all that. It's just a part of my life. And I'm responsible, I don't let it control me. I take care of my pet, I keep in touch with my family, I go get coffee with my friends. ...Sometimes I just happen to wake up on a table in a strange house that I don't know the address of wearing some other girl's underwear. It happens, you know? All artists have their vices, right?"
who is the amazing mastermind behind the likes of you?
"It's Stark! My other babies are Nell, Nathan, and Mia."...is there food in here?
