Rose is, primarily, a creature of emotion. Whether she's happy or sad, angry or elated, it's extreme. There's rarely any middle ground. She thinks that her being half-faerie probably has a lot to do with that, since her siblings are also quite emotional. They think that something about the fact that faeries feed on emotion, and the weaker nature of humans probably don't mix that well, hence the extreme feelings. Rose, her older brother Fane, and their little sister Ione are all half-faerie on their dad's side. Their parents met when their mom was in her early twenties, and Fane was born not long after. Rose was born four years later, and while their parents weren't married and didn't live together, their dad was a part of their lives. However, five years later, after Ione was conceived, they saw less and less of him. This caused their mother's mind to start to deteriorate, and they now live with their grandparents, who, though uninvolved, are aware of what their grandchildren are.
Rose attends the local high school, and wants to be an English teacher when she grows up. She loves books, sunshine, ice cream, quirky clothes, and can hardly function without her ipod. She has two pets whom she loves dearly, a tabby cat named Graymalkin and a raven she rescued when he was a baby, who she named Nevermore. (Told you she's an English geek.) She can't stand girls who wear a kagillion pounds of eyeliner, tomatoes, hollister jeans, or not understanding things.
She both loves and hates being part of the supernatural world. She thinks it's fascinating, and loves being a part of a whole other world that so many people are oblivious to, but because she is half human, she often feels out of place, whether with humans or supernaturals. She's also incredibly worried about her or her family being pressured into choosing sides in the impending war.
For the most part, she's fun, quirky, a bit hyperactive, and very outgoing. Her sibling tease her for being more human than faerie, but she does have her dark side, and it's never a pleasant thing to encounter. She likes having lots of friends, and is willing to give anybody a chance, but if you mess it up, it takes a lot of work to win her over again- she's been known to hold grudges for years. She also has a bit of a temper, and if you annoy her on a bad day, chances are she'll scream at you.
She's very outgoing and rarely acts afraid of anything, but inside, she's actually very self conscious, and always worries about not living up to people's expectations or making a fool of herself. She's the kind of person who hates to let people see her cry.
Of course, she does have a very few people who know this about her. Her big brother Fane is one, and the other, her best friend, Aaron Callahan. They met when she was six and he was ten, in a fight over the last copy of a limited edition Flash comic book. Depending on who you ask, either Aaron came out of it with a black eye, or after he successfully knocked her down and sat on her, he caved and gave her the comic. I think we all know which one REALLY happened.
She recently discovered- all too late- that she's somehow fallen in love with her best friend. Now that he's married, she's become something of an emotional wreck and is more of a faerie every day. still undecided in the war, her emotional state leaves her very open to trickery, and persuasion. Only time will tell what will become of her.
