You know those people who seem aloof from the world? Those who seem cold and uncaring to the misfortunate of others? That person who sends shiver down your spine because there is just something... off... about her? That would be Katharine, or Kat as she likes to be called, for you. She is not normal. She defies the laws of physics and nature. She doesn’t belong to one species or the other... she is... a soul caught between two worlds, neither wanting her, both disowning her as their own. So it really is no wonder that Kat isn’t your best socializer or even very friendly. After three hundred years of being driven away by all that she loved, who would expect anything else? It doesn’t help that its possible she doesn’t even have a soul, being an immortal hybrid as it is. But Kat has learned to cope in the world she was thrown into. She is a highly trained, professional assassin for hire... and she enjoys the empowering sensation taking the life of another brings her. Fencing is her specialty, swords her vessel for death and destruction. She is really quite a good swordswomen and quite adept at overpowering her opponents despite her small stature.

Years of training have given her the grace and deadly prowess of a cat. She enjoys feeling in control but also enjoys a challenge, a good fight, from time to time. She values intelligence and wit and loves flowers, especially exotic ones, and the night. She feels most at home in the dark. As an assassin, keeping her emotions under lock and key is very important, but this has rarely been a problem for Kat, seeing as she sometimes isn’t even sure she feels emotions. She is good at her job and as of yet as not failed to complete an assignment. Fire is her favorite toy and her best friend. When she is bored, you can often find her playing with fire, despite all the warnings against doing so. Her own fire can’t hurt her anyways, being a firetamer. Her one main weakness is probably the soft spot she has in her heart for animals. She loves animals, especially exotic felines. From a young age she was tutored in many types of dances and her fluid movements as she walks and especially when she fights is probably mainly due to that fact. She is a good dancer and is quite good at using her body as a tool for seduction. Like most people, she dislikes boredom and feeling out of control and she can’t stand cheaters - she doesn’t like rules though and dos believe that some are meant to be broken.

Kat has one other prevalent weakness and that is that when she becomes stressed or anxious, her ability to block out the thoughts and feelings of others sometimes overwhelms her... usually making the stress and anxiety worse. This happens very rarely, but it has been known to happen. For mainly this reason, she dislikes crowds and likes having her space. Despite her small size, she is incredibly athletic and has a relatively high endurance for physical activity - this actually becomes quite apparent in her appetite for sex, though very few can meet her expectations so she has kind of given up on the whole love affair. She just can’t find someone who she could imagine wanting to spend forever with and who can keep her hooked and interested for more than... an hour. Despite her skills with a sword, she is also good at several types of martial arts... though she still does prefer a sword as her weapon of choice. This hybrid also has a high tolerance for pain and hates people who are sexist. Kat is a strong person but when forced to socialize, another weakness emerges. She isn’t very good at socializing, mainly because she simply doesn’t care for people in general, but she also tends to turn to sarcasm when she feels unsure of how she should be acting.

There once was a young japanese woman who belonged to the high society of Japan. She was from a family who was held in high regard by the king and queen. She was a firetamer, and known for her charm and beauty. And yet, she remained unmarried well into her twenties, something considered bizarre for her time. Her high rank though and the wealth and status of her family saved her from her reputation taking a dip. In fact, people even whispered that she was saving herself for the emperor’s son, who was said to be looking for a bride and considering the young firetamer as his bride. But it was not to be. Victoria was kidnapped and snatched away from her life of comfort at the age of 25 by a dashing immortal who wished to have the beauty as his wife. He was a pompous fool and hadn’t expected Kat’s mother to put up a fight. But she most certainly did. After a year, during which he had forced her to marry him and had raped her against her will, Victoria managed to flee and return home. She was then pregnant with child and her family shunned her because she had ruined their prospects for gaining more favor by her marrying the emperor’s son.

Disowned and pregnant, Kat’s mother fled Hong Kong and moved to a large city to the north where she was forced to scrape by by degrading herself as a prostitute and escort and when she was too pregnant for that, a waitress. When Kat was born, her mother promptly handed her over to an orphanage, blaming the child for ruining her life when it was really her own beauty which had been her downfall. Abandoned to the harsh system of being an orphan, Kat was instantly turned to the worse side. She was not cheerful for she never had any reason to be cheerful. She was constantly shipped from one orphanage to the other. No one wanted her. Everyone around her felt wary and uneasy as the black haired child stared with unnaturally blue eyes at you as though she knew your every wish and desire, your every fault and fear. When Kat was twelve, she discovered her ability to control fire and the strange black mark first began to appear on the right side of her face. This strange new alternation to her features and nature once again made her even less likely to be adopted.

When Kat was sixteen, she ran away and fled to Hong Kong, unaware that she was heading for the place where her extended family resided. After a few months of making a living there through the luck... or unluck... of being chosen by a wealthy nobleman to join his herrem, her grandmother came across her by chance and saw the mirror image of her daughter in Kat’s eyes and thus decided to take her under her wing. Unfortunately, now, instead of being disowned, she was being used a tool by her adoptive family to gain success. They stated that she was their neice, pure Japanese by blood, and once again tried to get her to win the eyes of the emperor’s younger son by dolling her up and teaching her all the things a fine Japanese lady of the time was supposed to know. She became a beautiful young lady, her all-knowing eyes mesmerizing the royal courts about her. Like her mother, she drew eyes as she moved across the dance floor or moved through the crowd of wealthy nobles. She was a young beauty and many men asked for her hand in marriage. Kat loved the dresses and dolling herself up and showing herself up almost as much as her family did.

The attention scared Kat though, who was unused to it, and she ended up fleeing when she was in her early twenties, unable to stand it any longer when the emperor’s son publicly began showering her with praise and love, wishing to gain her family’s approval for marriage. A few years passed where she then began to realize thats he was no longer aging... It was around that time that she learned more about her herritage and the different species in the world. After a few more years, she became certain that she was a hybrid between a firetamer and an immortal as she had been able to read thoughts for as long as she could remember. She continued on with her life, fending for herself as time passed. Finally, one day a man, an immortal, took her under his wing and convinced her to work for him. It started out as small things, mainly stealing really, but it eventually turned to assassinations. Kat did it willingly, thrilling in the power it made her feel as she got to determine who lived and who died. She eventually grew sick of the immortal who had hired though and realized that she could do better on her own... so she stole a huge chunk of cash from him and set up her own buisness in America as an assassin for hire.

After a few years, she became reknowned and fears as one of teh most deadly assassins in the world - no one knew who she actually was - she was just known as “The Black Cat.” Through her new secure spot in society, she did as she pleased, cashing in money by the millions - it seemed there were an awful lot of people in teh world who wanted one or another person dead. And that has been her life. She has discovered more about herself through the centuries but as time passes, she seemed less and less sure of her humanity... and she feels as though her emotions are being repressed and burrowed deep down more and more. Sometimes it worries her... but most of the time she gives it no mind.
