OVERALL
If you ever just sat back and watched Winter, you would think someone had super sized a five year old. She's this bright blob in constant motion. She doesn't know how to sit still ever, or stand in place. She's constantly dancing around, and is an unsufferable klutz. She's louder than she ever needs be, and an eye sore with all of her bright colors. Easily amused by things like facial expressions, and anything that makes a pretty sound. She's a happy person, cute and adoreable and completely loveable who tends to bring out the maternal instincts in everyone she meets.
Inside of her is a monster that threatens at every silent moment to escape the shakles of her bright colors and twinkling music bracelets. If anyone ever really watched her, they would notice how dead her eyes the moment she sits still, how her lips fall into a sad frown the moment she stops forcing a smile on her face. Winter suffers from a depression that she fights with every day in silence. Depression that makes her feel alone and empty accept when she's acting like a happy child.
Because of her own depression, she knows what it's like to feel sad and alone, and how horrible the feeling is. She knows how much it hurts and while she's never found an escape from it, she loves people everyone, and she never wants anyone to feel alone or like no one cares about her. So she acts, and she reminds everyone she's around that when they're alone she's there and she loves them. Hoping maybe someone day that the act will work, and not be an act.

OVERALL
Did you know that if you know someone with depression or an anxiety disorder your chances increase signifigantly that you too will have one or both of these disorders?
By just knowing someone who has the disease, or mental disorder whatever you wanted to call it your chances increased. Winter has never found an evidence to prove it, but if knowing someone with it improves your chances, than be born to a parent who was constantly striken with both must
Winter has never found any evidence to prove it, but if just knowing someone with it improves your chances, then being born to a parent that has both must just seal the deal of your doom forever. After all we learn how to behave from our parents. Kirsten tried, really and honestly she did, Winter couldn't count on two hands how many different medications her mother had tried during her lifetime, nor could she count how many times her mother had sought alternative medications, drugs/sex/booze. By the time she was five years old, Winter knew how to tell when the sadness had crept over her mother, when another long rest was coming where her mother wouldn't be able to leave her bed again for days. She knew who to hang up on as well when the men with things that made her mother act funny called. She knew more than any child should have at such a younge age.
Yet everytime her mother would fall into the sadness, she could hold her children close and kiss the top of their heads and whisper that they'd saved her life. That she loved them both, and it was just another day when the shadows as her mother called them were winning the war for her mother. With her mother, all but a vegitable during these times Winter grew up quickly, she learned at a younge age how to take care of a house, how to clean and cook properly, and how to take care of someone else, while her older brother was her partner and took care of other things like yelling at the men who came to the door. It was a fast life that dragged on forever.
Yet Winter never complained, she never thought of it as hard, she just thought it was what was supposed to happen. Nothing ever changed her thinking until she was in middle school, god knows how old she was at the time, but she'll never forget the day she was first asked, "Are you happy?" how the questions went on for what seemed like hours that people were worried about her, that she seemed sad. The day the fear started to grow inside of her that she would become her mother, and others would have to take care of her. That she started to form the happy Winter, so that no one would ever question her happiness.
Winter adapted, she became happy on the outside, and she grew up. Her mother grew worse and her brother left her to go and live his own life and try to out run the sadness, and when her mother had her last visit of true clarity. She saw what she had done to Winter, the tired way Winter looked at her, and she thought of how much of a burden she'd been, and she killed herself. After that Winter promised to never let anyone see how she actually feels. She's happy and she's cute, and she believes in love and rainbows and nothing ever makes her sad and she never stays in one place long enough for people to learn when her laughs and smiles are fake and that's life because she makes someone else happy and takes away the sadness.
