Lauren has always known just what she was. Her mother, you see, is also a mermaid and therefore told her daughter about her gift when she was still a little girl. She has never been ashamed of her tail, in fact, she loves it and wouldn't change the fact that she isn't like every other girl she knows. And while she's learned to be careful when it comes to being around water when others are present she pretty much goes about life like any other normal citizen. By chance she happened to come across another of her kind, a young man named Judas, and though he has made it quite clear he hates what he is she has made it her mission to help him see himself in a different light. Outgoing lets herself be who she is.

Lauren was born in a small town in Florida Orlando, with her mother Emily and her small Shiz tzu Bella the only thing she knew about her so called father was that he was a Human and his name was James nothing more and nothing less. At a young age Lauren knew her mother was a Mermaid and the genes passed down to her, her becoming a Mermaid as well and loving every minute of it. Her mother told her one thing and she never forget it to never show her tail to humans; even though she very highly agreed she still was loyal and obeyed her mother. The first time out in the open she swam and grew her tail for the first time a beautiful teal color she saw someone else and knew her secret was over until Lauren saw Judas and knew that he too was also a Mermaid/merman; however right off the bat he hated it and ever since now she is trying to get him to be proud of what he is.Not knowing about her Father if he was her real father or not turned her to become depressed for a short time thinking that he wouldn't even care about her; this upsetting her mother she showed Lauren tons and tons of letters from her father asking about her and her mother making her feel tens times better and maybe she can even meet him.

RP SAMPLELauren woke up from a soft murmur of singing from her mother and smiled as the light shown in her room, she was only 14 years old then and knew darn well what she was and what she wanted to be all along. Waking up out of bed she glanced in the mirror as her hair was partly wavy and frizzy she gave it a good shake and slipped on her Little Mermaid slippers tapping her silver locket around her neck. Turning slightly she noticed the perfect water hitting the waves of the ocean and walked over to her other window glancing down at her small pool. Remembering the last time she swam out in the open left her with a small shake for her not very fond of the memory. It was a cloudly day and she wanted to get her Teal tail out in the water before any early risers would surf or go for a swim.Letting her feet touch the cool water she felt herself sitting down and a few moments later her tail lightly bating the sand. While she was out far she noticed a semi-large boat and began to swim away from it but not until she was turned upside down and her tail was caught on something -rope- struggling to get away she knew what the men wanted, to either hurt her or worse. Luckily while the men were distracted she got free and swam as fast as she could home never swimming in the open again.at least 200 words.
