Katherine and her family did not get along. The Carruther clan was constantly at odds with each other, always a fight going on and always yelling in the house. Katherine constantly looked for outlets to stressful home life and found them in having a lot of.... let's jut say... she got around before she was immortal too. Along with that, she relieved a lot of her stress through causing basic trouble, much like she still does.

But, whenever young Katherine went home, her problems always awaited her. She'd walk in the door and get yelled at for no reason she knew of. Being a bit hotheaded and short tempered, she had retorts flyng right back to her parents. When they were done ripping her a new one, Katherine would retreat to her room for peaceful silence, though it never lasted long. Her mom and dad would soon get started on each other or her brother and, despite them having a large house, the Russian voices carried up to Katherine.

Mark Carruther's Sr., a rather corrupt bussinesman of the time, was hated by most and feared by many. The adults' hatred for the Carruthers seeped into their children and people Katherine's age hated her family as well, which meant they took it out on Katherine. So, it was no wonder when Katherine, tired of the hatred, went in search of a way to let her worries go.

Her breath came out in a fog as she moved over the terrain of Siberia. She was on a hunt and wasn't leaving the dark forest she was in until she'd found what she wanted. The pain going on in her life had become too much for her and she needed an outlet. But it couldn't be death. A sound caught her ears, the sound of a lonely howl in the crisp night air. Katherine smiled briefly as she quickened her pace, this was what she'd been waiting for. Her feet crunching leaves and snow underneath her as she ran, she weaved expertly through the trees she'd memorized over her life.
Reaching the origin of the howl, she slowed to a stop and catiously looked around. The wolf wasn't in sight but she knew he was still around. A rustling suddenly sounded behind her and she spun to see the beast who would help her. The wolf's muzzle hung open slightly, its hot breath billowing from his mouth as his eyes drank her in."Please." She pleaded. "I want the pain to stop." The wolf didn't utter a word. His ears catching her voice with a few flicks, he didn't move. And then, he did. And in a few heartbeats, Katherine's life had changed forever.
