The past few months had been the best of the fallen angel’s life, which was saying a lot considering he’d been alive (or close to it, depending on your definition) for over a hundred years. It was slightly depressing to think that that was soon to come to a close, that in a life that spanned eternity, there was nothing left to look forward to. Caden was absolutely certain of the fact that the best part of the rest of his life was already happening. He knew it the moment he turned his head to look at the blonde lying next to him. Sara was everything Cade could’ve asked for and more. Much more. So much that he didn’t deserve her, not in the least bit. She was this amazing, sweet, and caring girl. The fallen angel was beginning to hate himself for even thinking of breaking her heart and knew that the self-loathing would only grow. He had to do it for Sara’s sake and the only condolence he could take from the whole situation was that someday Sara would forget about him and move on. She’d be happy and would live a life much better than the one he could offer.
Because what could he give her? Caden would always look twenty two and Sara would continue to age. That didn’t bother him, her aging. While she was beautiful, her looks weren’t the only thing that Cade loved about her. Looks, from his point of view, didn’t matter; the person did. But it might matter to Sara. Sure, everything was fine while they were both young. They’d have to move often, him only being able to stay in the same place for so long before someone noticed something was up. Sara wouldn’t want to move around so much, not when she was an adult with a life. What happened when Sara was in her forties, and Cade looked young enough to be her son? Sara would outgrow him someday, would want a man who had gone through years of schooling and had a good job and could provide for her. Someone who could relate to her and who would go through the same experiences. Hell, Sara might want kids someday and Caden didn’t even know if he could have kids. If by some miracle it was possible, then what happened when the kids grew up, became his age and eventually older? He had already let this draw out too long, was too selfish to see what the better option would be. All those months ago, Cade should’ve walked out of her apartment instead of staying and making breakfast. Looking back, even on that morning Caden knew something was different about the girl and he should’ve listened to that little bit of intuition, the tiny bit that was shouting ‘get out of here now, you idiot’ instead of stomping it down.
Now though, now he’d do the right thing. He’d walk out of Sara’s life, trying to make it as clean a break as possible. Those were the type that healed the best and the quickest. She would be upset but she’d get over it. He had to tell himself that. The blonde continued to stare at the sleeping girl, completely overcome with guilt. She looked so innocent and oh so vulnerable. He was a monster for doing this to her. Things would be easier if Caden thought of them in that light. He was the bad guy, the villainous man hurting an unassuming girl for no reason. The fallen closed his eyes tightly, trying to ignore the immense pain that was radiating through his body. He promised that he wouldn’t leave her, and here he was, deliberately breaking it. This image of Sara would be the one he held onto for centuries. Taking a deep breath, he opened his blue eyes and looked at the blonde once more, running his fingertips lightly along her cheek and tucking a stray lock of hair away. With a small amount of courage that he could muster, Cade pushed himself from the bed and silently looked at Sara for what he was certain would be the last time. There was a chance that she stirred slightly and Caden couldn’t stop himself from leaning over and pressing his lips softly to her forehead. After a moment or two, he turned and headed out to the kitchen.
If Caden were a man – the brave and courageous and honest one that Sara deserved – then he’d stay and wait until Sara was awake so he could do this in person. But Cade wasn’t that guy. He was cowardly and weak. The young Salvatore wouldn’t be able to take the look on her face as he said he was leaving. She’d try to convince him to stay and his resolve was already fragile at best. He didn’t want to make a scene. That would go against the whole “clean break” idea. The situation with the least amount of incident would go over better. So instead of waiting, Caden slipped his shoes and jacket on, grabbed a sheet of paper, and quickly scrawled Sorry on it. It was all he could do. With one last glance towards the door that led to Sara’s bedroom, he made his way out of the apartment, car keys and plane ticket in his pocket.

i'd give up forever to touch you 'cause i know that you feel me somehow If you told the mermaid that it had been over three months since she went out to a party last. She wouldn't believe you. She'd think you were nuts. It hadn't been that long. It didn't feel like it. Time seemed so perfect and wonderful when she was with him. With the one she couldn't see her life without anymore. He was becoming a part of her life and she was enjoying it too much. She just never wanted it to end. Call it selfish, and maybe it was, but Sara never wanted to let Cade go if she could help it. Unless of course he wanted her to, she would, but that didn't mean she wouldn't fight for it. They had spent last night for example just chatting away the night on her couch in her living room, the soft lights that illuminated the tanks she had dancing softly along the walls, making splotches on their faces while they talked about anything and everything. Her classes were off for the day, due to it being a federal holiday of course. The blonde snuggled into the bed more as the world of dreams scooped her back into it. It was a pleasant dream. She and Cade were back out on the houseboat, which she was sure he didn't seem to mind, and they were swimming, her taking him down to show him some of the beauty of the ocean that humans never got to see. She'd made sure he was fine first, and led him down there, making it smoother on both of them, mostly him so he didn't stress too much. Then other times where they just sat together, holding each other, making it confusing to tell who was really holding who.
She wasn't sure what was going to happen. Sara preferred not to think about what could happen with Cade. He'd stay twenty-two forever, and she'd continue to age. Eventually with time he could be mistaken for her son, not her lover. Well by that time, Sara had a nagging doubt in her mind, he might leave her. No, she stamped that worry out. Cade wouldn't do that, he wasn't like any other guy in the world. He was absolutely perfect, and absolutely genuine. Personally she didn't know what she'd do if she lost him. Well, he'd lose her first. To time. Damn time, she had thought a few weeks ago. If only there was some way that she might be able to postpone herself from aging. Mermaids did age slower, of course. But that was only for so long, only another decade or so on top of humans, but otherwise, it was nothing compared to what Cade was going to live and going to see in his immortality. Her stomach clenched slightly in the middle of the night as her thoughts and dreams ran rampant. He won't leave. She told herself. That worry was smothered when she turned over, facing Cade's side of the bed they shared pretty much all the time, and they just slept a lot. It was a relief. The physical part only seemed to be like a side dish. They gave each other everything, and Sara had constantly barraded her step-mother about Cade, how she was going to bring him to meet her parents - when he was absolutely ready. She was personally hoping in time for her birthday soon, but she wasn't sure. Waking up slightly when her thoughts got too bothersome along with her dreams, the mermaid's brilliant green eyes landed on the peaceful features of Cade. It was the middle of the night. She wouldn't dare bother him. Just smiling towards him, even if he couldn't see it, the mermaid sighed softly, before glancing through the small crack in her door, before she soon drifted back off into sleep.
Morning came. Way too early. Sara wanted to sleep more, be lazy today. Maybe not even really dress. As usual her hand fell over to Cade's side - he had a tendency to usually wake up before her. Once in awhile she'd be him up, but that was because she either had her class or someone was calling her. Upon feeling an empty side, she frowned slightly, and leaned up, hair ruffled slightly from sleeping, and a curious look fell on her features as she slid out of bed in her pjs, eyes checking the bathroom before heading out into her apartment more. Pausing, eyes wide as she noticed some of her fish looking her way, she called out softly, "Cade?" She felt her stomach churn and the mermaid gulped back the vomit that threatened to jump out of her stomach. Her nerves were getting the best of her. Calming herself, she presumed he was out doing something. Most likely. Suddenly. Bam. The note. She didn't want to read it. Her fears got the best of her, should she? Carefully, she grabbed the piece of paper as if it were a bomb in her hands. Sara glanced towards Nemo, one of the few clown fish she had, who was keenly watching from the closest corner of the tank to her he could find. Swallowing back the nerves, she opened it, read the single word and dropped it. That single word did more damage than she had thought it would. Just that one word, and Sara felt like she had lost her tail. Like she'd lost a major part of herself. He's gone, she thought to herself, slouching against the wall and sliding down it, landing on the floor.
He left. It was that simple. He was gone, out of her life. It was so much sooner than she had thought. She thought they could have more time together. But no, Cade had left. Just left. Just the note, the note and memories, and pictures they had taken over the course of the months. She eyed the piece of paper, and felt anger rise up, wanting to burn the paper. She wouldn't though. Couldn't bring herself to do it. Shakily, she stood up, and was surprised when she felt something streak down her cheeks. Was that what she thought it was? It was. Tears. Blinking, she wiped them away, and scowled at them, as if they were thinking of getting her legs wet. They were salt water. Placing her hand on a table, feeling as if one of her legs had been broken, she looked to the piece of paper on the floor, and around her apartment. Where had he gone? Why? Why now? It might be better though, she tried to reason with herself. It would be better in the future. But she didn't want anyone else! For her there was only Cade. Call it puppy-love or what-ever, but Sara knew she wouldn't look at anyone in the same light again after him. She had told him the incident about Harry, the incident about why she'd moved here. He'd accepted that, and it changed nothing. She'd accepted him for his past. The two of them moved on. She couldn't move on though. That much she knew. Wouldn't be able to from this. Shivering slightly, Sara looked around quietly, "Cade..." she whispered his name, knowing he wouldn't respond, but for some reason, she had done it anyway. The plane trip had felt like an eternity, which was slightly ironic coming from someone who would wander the earth of eternity. Caden had known it’d feel like that though. The plane ride itself wasn’t all that long to Italy; it’d only take a day or so of travel total. Returning to his home country was probably the most predictable move he could’ve made, but with feeling so lost, he needed surroundings that were familiar. So no, the physical plane ride was relatively easy. The difficult part was thinking of Sara. Thinking of the distance being put between them with each passing minute was making him physically sick. How could he have done this to Sara? His sweet Sara? He couldn’t think like that anymore. She wasn’t his; she’d move on. The fallen found himself wondering if Sara had woken up yet, if she had seen the note. She had to of read it already; he’d been flying for a good three hours and she would’ve woken up by now. What was she thinking? Feeling? He hadn’t left an explanation thinking that it might make things messier. Sara would try to take blame for this when it was in no way her fault. It was his, all his, for not being what Sara needed. Did she hate him now? He’d be able to deal with anything but that. And then again, he wouldn’t know. So if that was her way of dealing with everything, then that was perfectly okay. Caden wanted her to deal with this as best as possible so she could move on.
------------------------------------
It had been exactly seventeen days, six hours, and fourteen minutes since Caden had walked out of Sara’s apartment with only a one worded note to explain his disappearance. Make that fifteen minutes. He’d continue to count too, knowing he’d never lose track of his biggest regret. It was something that would crush him until some other angel decided to put him out of his misery. It was all he thought about anymore. Sara. How was she doing? What was she feeling? He supposed he could ask Owen or Christian to check up on her – both of them knew he was in Italy – but he didn’t want to cause any more disturbances in her life. What kind of person would he be if he left Sara so she could have a normal life, only to have little spies watching over her? First of all, he’d be extremely creepy. But he’d also be selfish, trying to keep tabs on her without being directly in her life. All Cade wanted to know was if Sara was okay. He didn’t expect her to be back to her happy self, but he hoped that she was at least dealing with everything in a healthy manner/ Going to class, hanging with friends, taking care of herself.
Currently, he was lying on the floor of his bare apartment. There was literally very little in it. No furniture whatsoever, besides a wobbly kitchen table with an equally unstable chair and a mattress that could’ve been original to the twenty year old building. He had left almost everything back in his old apartment (even his beloved Xbox), taking only a couple outfits of clothes so he wouldn’t look like a total bum, the minimal essentials for hygiene, and his favorite picture of him and Sara. Caden should’ve left it as well, knowing that things like that, physical reminders, were always dangerous. If someone were to ever find it and start questioning him, his secret could be revealed, but he couldn’t part with the picture. It went everywhere with Cade, always folded up in his pocket and within an arm’s reach. He felt absolutely no motivation to do anything, only moving when absolutely necessary. His landlady had already come knocking on his door once or twice to check on him. She was a nice lady, very traditional and set in her ways. The first day Caden had gotten here, she had warned him, in Italian of course, that he better not be bringing in different girls every night or she’d kick him out of the room and keep his deposit. Like she had to worry about that.
Caden glanced at the clock on the wall and did quick mental math to figure out what time it was where Sara was. She’d be in class right now, though it was about to end. Who knew what other plans she had afterwards? His stomach growled for the umpteenth time, telling him he better get his sorry excuse for a man up and find some food. Cade sighed and stood, dusting off his back but making no more attempts to look presentable. What was the point? He didn’t want to attract attention. Anyone’s. And if he didn’t have to go out, he wouldn’t. But Caden had been living on a diet of very simple microwavable meals and he had run out, leaving him no choice but to head to the store. He took one more look around the sparse apartment and then walked out the door, locking it behind him. The fallen’s hand went straight to his pants’ pocket, where his picture was safely resting.

i'd give up forever to touch you 'cause i know that you feel me somehow The rest of that day had been torture. Sara didn't know what to do. She didn't even feel like eating anymore. But no, she'd called her dad and step-mother, and asked them to come to her apartment. The mermaid laid sprawled on the floor in her kitchen when they arrived, still in her pajamas. Scrambling up, she fell into her dad's arms, feeling the tears streak down her cheeks. She couldn't tell her father, because what if he ever met Cade? Like if they ran into each other on the streets? No, there wouldn't be such a thing, she knew Cade was smarter than that. But by the look in her dad's eyes he already knew what had happened and before Jasmine stepped in to calm him down, Sara knew he could have (tried) to kill Cade if he had dared to come close. Sara did get herself ready, taking a three-hour bath in her bathtub, allowing her fins to stretch. That always helped a little bit. But it didn't this time. This time she just needed Cade. That's all she wanted now. Just him. Those gorgeous blue eyes. After getting out of the water and into moderate real life, the mermaid felt like she was on auto-pilot. She just fell silent and drew into herself, before managing to crack somewhat and tell her father what had happened. But she didn't say why. Cade went that far to protect his secret, and she wouldn't do anything to betray his trust. Even if he had left. Curling up on the couch with Jasmine draping an arm over her, Sara whispered, sighing into Jasmine's shoulder, "I...I'm not sure what to do, Jasmine." the woman cooed in Spanish to her, then to her father, saying she was young, she'd be fine. But no. She wouldn't be fine. They wouldn't get it. Cade was pretty much everything to her, and now Sara didn't even feel like eating anymore. She just wanted to be with Caden. Forget them if they said this was like this with every young person. She was twenty-one for goodness sake, going on twenty-two. Cade was the one.
That she realized with a violent thrust of a knife to her heart. Shivering, Sara curled up into the sweatshirt more. Ugh, she was actually wearing one of these things. She looked to her parents silently, before her father, the ever wise one suggested she going swimming for awhile, maybe go visit her cousin in the nearby village off the coast. That's what Sara did the next day. After her classes she ran to her houseboat, tying her hair up into a neat ponytail, keeping it out of her face. The blue only rang one thing to her. Cade. The air. Cade. The boat. Cade. Towels. Cade. Everything in her life was now reminding her of him, and it pained her. The mermaid swallowed back the pain as she looked to the piece of driftwood they'd found on the beach one day and had carved their names in it. Biting her bottom lip, she turned off the boat, and turned on some lights to make it look like people were in it, at the twilight hour as she then dove sleekly into the water. She knew her cousin here would know more about witches and such. Sara's brilliant green eyes blinked as she dove down, her tail throwing her through the water with ease. Fish only peered at the mermaid curiously as she soon approached some houses out of coral and such. Visiting the cousin, appropriately named Helen for some reason, Sara felt somewhat better and caught the name of a witch, Antonia who lived in...Italy. Just thinking of that caused her pain. Cade was probably there.
---------------------------------
It had been over two weeks she was sure since she had last seen him. Now, her annoyance was higher than usual. Of all the languages she had learned, she learned Spanish. Granted she knew like eight words in Italian, but that was it. Inhaling calmly, she shook her head. She had been here for four days, wandering around different cities in Italy, well - she'd been enjoying it somewhat, but the primary goal was clear. Cade. Find him. Nothing else mattered. The worst part was she got hit on by a few guys when they realized she didn't speak very much Italian. How wonderful. Sara now was leaving her hotel - once more - hair down and wavy, jeans and a blouse on - ready for the day. She wanted to find him. She had a good feeling. With her Italian dictionary in her pocket, she'd learned to ask if someone had seen a blonde guy around here lately. So that had to help somewhat. As the blonde walked along some streets, looking to the different small stores, her eyes keenly focusing on one thing. Cade. Was he here? Hadn't he said he'd been raised here? She surely prayed he was here. And she had never been very religious either. Closing her eyes, Sara barely realized she'd bumped into someone, another guy. Muttering an apology in broken Italian, she pressed on her way, hearing him call out, "Oi, you Americana?" She ignored it though. No sense in drawing attention. Wonderful. She thought to herself. She was looking for a guy who had been born and raised here, knew this place better than she knew the city she currently lived in, and had spent the past few decades pefecting being able to blend in.
Sara sighed heavily, and pocketed her dictionary, feeling someone watching her. Or maybe she was being paranoid. The image of Harry flashed in her mind, before Cade's image suddenly appeared, and she felt immediately calmer. Grinning weakly, the mermaid looked to the people around her, listening to them speaking their rapid Italian. Ugh, was she out of her league? Put her in water with them and she'd be fine, but out here on land, she felt like she was running out of air. Running out of time to find Cade. Sara's ticket to return was only three days away. She'd gotten help from her dad so soon, and she was here on research or what-ever. Either way her dad had found some way to help her out of her classes for awhile after seeing how affected she had been by Cade's disappearance. Sara's eyes then lifted just as she caught a glimpse of blonde hair through the masses. No, it couldn't. Could it? Picking up her pace, the mermaid brushed past people, feeling her hopes soar before she could stop them, tell them it might not be him. It had to be, her gut was telling her yes. There. It was him. Just as handsome and perfect as he had been about three weeks ago. What would he do if he saw her? Would he be happy, angry? Her thoughts were interrupted when someone bumped into her and spoke with a thick accent, "You looking for someone dear?" She flinched and eyed the guy, probably a few years older than her. He grinned a slightly weird grin, enough to give her the heebie-jeebies.
"Found them." she answered as he smiled politely to people eying them, acting as if he knew her. To hell he did. She wanted to see Cade. Dodging around him, she gasped when the guy caught her arm, and Sara turned to see Cade's head disappear slightly in the crowd, "Cade!" she shouted. With her luck, Cade had cut through a smaller street-way, and therefore less people. The majority of them, Sara and this guy. Sara turned back to him, thankful she'd done cheerleading and reached to sock him one. Crap, he'd caught it! Wide-eyed, her mouth hung open slightly. No, this wasn't supposed to happen. She had to get to Cade. He'd help. He'd make everything better. Sara wanted to tell him there could be a way. She could fix things. But she wanted him to be happy. Would he be to see her here? Throwing a leg up and managing to clip his kneecap sending the guy to his knees, Sara whirled around, hair flying, "Cade!?" she screamed, panic flying through her. Had it been her imagination? It couldn't have been. Sara took some more steps towards him. They were meant to be, weren't they? There was no doubt in her mind. The crowds, being surrounded by the Italian language – Caden had never realized how much he missed it. Sure, America had been nice; a good change. But it was nothing compared to Italy. Even this though, being engulfed in his native culture, couldn’t raise his spirits. He charged through the streets with little regards to anyone else that might be walking as well, head down and hands shoved in his pockets. It was so much unlike him, the rudeness. Then again, he hadn’t been anything like himself since arriving in Italy. The fallen wanted to make this trip as quick as possible with as little attention as possible. But even in his current mood that was very obvious, people kept being drawn to him like moths to a light. He honestly had no idea what it was, though had the notion that it might’ve been his blonde hair. While there were natives to Italy that had blonde hair and fairer skin, it was uncommon in the southern portion of Italy. Many people mistook him for an American tourist, a fact he had deduced while listening to people talk about him in Italian. In fact, it had just happened. There had been two girls walking in the opposite direction, both of whom started cooing about how handsome he was, how gorgeous his blonde hair was. Caden didn’t understand how anyone could get that impression of him; his hair was messy and he was in a desperate need of a shave. He had worn the worst clothing he could find from the small duffle bag that had accompanied him – a ratty pair of old jeans and a faded t-shirt. His damn blonde hair in sea of brunettes. It stuck out like a traffic cone. Cade’s hand, the one not clutching the picture in his pocket, went to run through his tangled mop of hair and he contemplated dying it. It would certainly help him blend in more. So he made the decision; he’d be a brunette by the end of the day.
He was just about to the store when he heard his name being yelled in a familiar voice. This wasn’t the first time it had happened to him in the past few weeks. Cade was calling them hallucinations, because that had to be what they were. He’d think he heard Sara’s voice, caught a glimpse of her as she disappeared into a crowd or around a corner. The first few days, he had followed the hallucinations blindly, trying to figure out where she had went or his head would whip around, trying to find the origin of the voice. He was disappointed every time, not to mention he was beginning to seem crazy, and had finally learned how to just ignore them. So this was no different, just his imagination playing tricks on him again. The only difference was that this one seemed louder, and if possible, more real. His mind was getting better at this; soon he’d be completely convinced that she was there with him and not safely at home. Caden deserved it though, deserved the torture his mind was becoming oh so good at. He just hoped the same thing wasn’t happening to Sara, that she was – for the lack of a better word – adjusting better than he was. He wouldn’t forgive himself if she had to go through this too. Not that he ever would be able to do that for leaving her.
It was when the soon-to-be-brunette’s hand landed on the door handle to the store that he heard his name again, this time with a more urgent ring. He couldn’t be imagining this. Cade had never heard Sara’s voice with that tone, but knew instinctively that it was her’s and also that he wouldn’t be able to make something up like that. Abandoning his whole “forget the hallucinations” campaign, Caden turned away from the store and started heading back into the crowd. The whole way he was telling himself that this was all for naught, that he’d only realize this was a particularly strong hallucination and that he’d be convinced that he was completely crazy. Still, he couldn’t stop himself from going back. People gave him annoyed looks and commented on how rude Americans were these days as he pushed through them, going against the flow of bodies. Whatever. They could believe what they wanted; he’d forget how annoyed they were in a few minutes anyway. Their reactions didn’t matter, not when he was so intent on trying to figure out why Sara’s voice had seemed so strong. He was retracing his steps when he came within a few yards of someone that could be Sara’s twin. Of course, from this distance, it was very possible that it wasn’t so; he just wanted it to be. His mind was playing tricks on him and eventually he’d realize that this girl wasn’t Sara or that she was just part of his imagination.
Caden’s heartbeat quickened anyway and his breathing came in shorter gasps as he got closer to the Sara impersonator. He stopped a few feet short, amazed that it still looked like Sara standing there. This had to be a cruel trick. There was no way Sara was here. The fallen couldn’t stop himself. “Sara?” he yelled, sprinting the last few feet until he reached the blonde. Hands went instantly to her face, though in a gentle way that was opposite of what his hurried motions suggested. “I’m not imagining this?” he said, though it turned it more of a question than he had intended. He couldn’t be. Her smell was just right, the perfect combination of her shampoo and a beautiful summer day at the beach. Cade was never sure how she had done that, but she had. Sara’s eyes were the exact shade of emerald and were ones that he thought he’d never be able to look into again. There was no way this could be some figment that his mind had conjured up; it was the real Sara.
A violent wave of emotion hit him – love, surprise, pure joy, guilt, self-loathing, panic – so quick and sudden that Caden was almost knocked to his knees. It must’ve taken only a second for everything to happen, from the time he had reached Sara until now, but it felt like forever. His breathing was slightly labored and he felt completely shaken. There were so many different questions running through his mind, so many things he wanted to ask her, but they were all fighting for a turn and became a jumbled mess of English and Italian that couldn’t leave his mouth. His blue eyes were focused on her green, trying to convey any sort of message, until he heard a noise behind Sara and glanced around her. His gaze went from the guy on the ground to the look on Sara’s face. That had been the panicked look on her face; this guy had done something to her and Sara had defended herself. An overwhelming burst of pride towards Sara came over him with a following surge of anger directed at the guy. In a faster speed than Caden had though possible, he was around Sara and grabbing for the guy, moving into one of the many alleys that loved to branch off of Italian streets. He had the guy by his shirt, holding him up against the wall with a strength he didn’t know he possessed. The fallen lifted the guy and slammed back against the wall, threatening him in Italian so Sara wouldn’t be able to understand if she felt the need to. He had no idea what the guy had done to Sara, but felt ready to seriously injure him for even thinking about it.

i'd give up forever to touch you 'cause i know that you feel me somehow Sara couldn't believe it. She felt as if she had been dreaming. She had to be. There couldn't be much of an explanation for seeing Cade. But yet there he was, proving her wrong. It really was him and she just wasn't imagining it. God how she wanted to hold him again. To be able to be near him and be sure he was completely and one-hundred percent happy. To make sure that nothing would ever hurt him. Though she had a feeling if it came down to it, Sara would only be able to probably dodge things, while Cade could just throw them away and get it over with in a heart-beat. The blonde shook her hand free of the guy as he had attempted to draw her in once more. But no, she did shake it free, eyes wide when Cade approached her through the masses. It was a dream come true. He had seen her. She would be able to be near him again. Run her hand through his hair, calm his frazzled nerves if he had had a rough day for what-ever reason. All Sara wanted to do was be sure he was happy, and was he? Was he here? Worry settled into her gut, though it vanished the moment he was within an arm's grasp, and she hardly realized she was smiling as brightly as she was. The second he paused, she instinctively took a step his way, and she then nodded when he said her name, sending pleasant chills down her spine. As it always did. She loved it when he said her name, it made her feel safe. Like she was wrapped just in a bubble of protectiveness and nothing wouldn't harm her or Cade ever again. She knew if someone dared to hurt him, she'd get them - if emotionally or mentally, since Sara had a feeling Cade could hold his own in a fight.
Her first thought was, he's here. Cade is real. He was alive, and okay. He looked okay, and worry creased Sara's brow for a moment and she nodded slightly into his hands, wrapping her own hands around his, enjoying being with him. She swore it had to be a dream. Opening emerald eyes to meet the opposite, gorgeous blue hues of the fallen angel, her own personal angel, Sara responded, "No...neither one of us is imagining it." she reassured, feeling a tear or two escape her eyes. She couldn't articulate how she felt in this very moment. It was as if they were back on that Ferris Wheel, just in their own little bubble once more, not needing to worry about the world. It was just them. But too soon did Cade move, and Sara turned slightly, surprised as his speed, obviously the guy from before had managed to regroup himself. Inhaling in shock, Sara opened her mouth to start a protest against the violence, but something held her back. Wide-eyed when Cade slammed him into a wall and a string of Italian flowed from his lips, she flinched slightly. Even if she couldn't understand those words, she'd prefer not to be on the receiving end of that threat. In English or Italin or any other language. Suddenly finding her voice once more, the mermaid spoke, "Cade..." The last thing she wanted was for him to get hurt. It would be okay as long as the guy didn't think of coming after them. Then she wouldn't hold Cade back. But right now, he'd already had his kneecap busted most likely, and a decent twist to his arm, but she had a feeling he could probably take that. Not from Cade though, he had the angel strength in him still it appeared. Approaching him, Sara tensed when the guy chuckled in Italian, "Didn't know she was your girl. Just thought she was a lost little American." He sneered and Sara scowled, before it disappeared from her face, worriedly glancing around their surroundings as she placed a hand on Cade's arm, looking to him patiently, calmly, "Cade...it's all right. Let's just go. Leave him." Her hand squeezed the blonde's ever so slightly. She was the one not thinking and just wandering around by herself. But, well - she couldn't really help it. And after being here some days if this was the only incident, she figured she was moderately lucky. Pausing slightly, Sara tugged gently on Cade's arm, before casting a look once more towards the man, who seemed content on just staying there, she led Cade away and through some side-streets. She didn't care where they went, just away from the man. The mermaid stopped and turned around, quickly throwing her arms around Cade, wanting to just close the space between them already. God she had missed him. She didn't care if he had on a pair of ratty jeans or a t-shirt. That was only clothing. This was her Cade. She'd found him. Feeling a few tears stain his shirt, she drew away, blushing softly, "I'm sorry." she raised her gaze, and then leaned up and her lips met his for a few passionate, gleeful moments, before drawing back, smiling like the fool in love that she was. Hesitating, worry found her once more now. Would he be upset that she was here? Or even angry? She certainly hoped not. She just wanted to be with him again, to be sure Cade would always be happy no matter what. The question burned at her tongue, why had he left? But she hadn't wanted to ask that now. No, she had to keep telling herself over and over this was really Cade. He was here and alive and in her arms. Right near her where she wanted him to be for eternity (if possible). There was a way, she thought, and she wanted to try it. Looking to his violently-gorgeous blue eyes, Sara sighed softly, "Cade...I..." she couldn't voice it. Her voice failed. Lifting her gaze, she patiently wiped at the drying tear stains she'd left on his shirt, "Sorry." she mused, apologizing not only for the tears, but just for....everything. Everything that had happened if she had done anything wrong, she wanted Cade to know she was sorry for everything. All she wanted, was for things to be as they were, if possible, before then adding, "I...really missed you..oh so much." but she had a feeling he too had a lot of questions. It didn't matter to her. She was too relieved and too happy right now to worry about anything else than the perfect blonde in front of her. [/blockquote] TAGGED ! Caden felt more reassured when Sara confirmed that he wasn’t just imagining things. His stupid hallucinations had been way off mark anyways, something Sara being here was quickly proving. His version of her voice sounded like tire screeches next to the real, sing song melody that she used to talk. Cade couldn’t begin to imagine how he would’ve been able to live without her touch. He hadn’t even realized how much he had been craving for it, how empty he had been, until she grabbed his hands. The fallen hated the sight of tears though, regardless of whether they were happy or sad ones. He didn’t like seeing her cry. Keeping their hands linked, Cade reached up and wiped the few tears away with his thumb. There, that was better. “Please don’t cry,” he said quietly, wanting to prevent it if at all possible. And then he was leaving Sara, surprised by the fact that he was even able to. Apparently protecting her and keeping her safe was much more important to him than actually being able to hold her. Not that he didn’t want to. He’d just feel better about it if other things were taken care of.
He couldn’t hear if Sara had protested him going after the guy. His blood was pounding in his ears and all focus was on the guy. That comment, it made Cade want to kill the sleaze ball. Not just because he had tried to make Sara a target, but because he would’ve done the same to any lost American tourist. There was more of the old Caden returning, the one that had too big a heart that kept him from tolerating those who wanted to hurt others. And in all honesty, there wasn’t a damn thing Cade could do to keep him from pulling the same stunt on some other unsuspecting girl. He couldn’t exactly take the guy to the police – he hadn’t done anything yet. And, well, killing him would be illegal. The only thing Caden could do was hopefully scare him silly to the point where the guy wouldn’t even think about doing it again, but it didn’t seem like that would happen based on his comment. Cade slammed the guy against the wall again, shouting at him more. He was about to punch him in the face until Sara placed her hand on his arm and all of his attention went back to the girl. “Oh Lord,” he muttered before dropping the guy as suddenly as if he had been bitten by the dirt ball. Caden glanced down at his hands, unsure of how he had lost control. Cade didn’t fight, never had. He had somehow been lucky enough to avoid World War I and was dead before World War II. Solving things violently was his way, and here he was, wanting to smash some guy’s face in. “Sara…I don’t…” he began, trying to get her to understand that he didn’t fight but gave up seeing as how there was a mountain of evidence against that statement. Instead, he just let Sara lead him out of the alley.
It’d be a lie to say that the fallen angel was expecting Sara to hug him. He had thought she’d yell at him, hit him, or at the very least give him the silent treatment. She had the right to be angry with him and he completely deserved it for leaving her with no explanation. Not to say that he was complaining. No, Caden wrapped his arms around Sara’s frame just as tightly, laying his forehead on her shoulder and just taking a couple of moments to completely soak her in. He was still wondering what was going through his head when he had thought that he could live without this for the rest of his existence. The fallen angel hadn’t even noticed the tears on his shirt until Sara was apologizing for them. The blonde would’ve told her to not worry about it, that it was just an old shirt, but Sara was kissing him. It was something that Cade had longed to do since he realized that it actually was her who had called his name, but was afraid that she wouldn’t want him to. He kissed her back, just as deeply if not more so. Caden was trying to pretend that nothing had changed, because that was exactly what it had felt like when their lips met. He wasn’t ready for Sara to pull back, wasn’t ready to try to talk things out. He wanted to stay in the emotional realm, deal with that first and then head over to the logic zone. Sara was apologizing again. “You have nothing to be sorry about,” Cade argued, realizing that she meant for more than just his shirt. He didn’t want her to apologize; nothing was her fault. It had been him, entirely him. Knowing that Sara had missed him, though, meant so much to Caden. It was counterproductive to what he had hoped would happen, but still couldn’t help but to find delight in that statement. He couldn’t express how much he had missed Sara, so instead settled on pressing his lips against Sara in another deep kiss.
Eventually, Cade pulled away, when he thought that they both needed air. He couldn’t keep doing that though, avoiding the subject simply because he didn’t think he was ready to talk about it. “Let’s head back to my apartment,” he suggested, wrapping his arm around Sara’s waist, holding her against him as much as he possible could, and beginning to head in the direction of the place he was taking residency in. It wasn’t a place Caden necessarily wanted to take Sara, seeing as how it wasn’t the most glamorous place, but it was the only place he could think of that was safe to talk. This all still felt like a dream, like Sara was just going to disappear and Cade would be left grasping air. He had to keep glancing at her, just to make sure that she was still there. He didn’t really care if he ran into people or not at this point. They could move if it was that big of an issue. How could he have ever thought about hurting this young woman? It had to make him the worst person in the world. Maybe that was why he had been kicked out of heaven; they could tell his core was rotten and realized they had made a mistake making him an angel. That didn’t matter right now though. Caden pressed his lips to Sara’s hair and stayed like that as they walked, until they reached the apartment building.
The landlady happened to be puttering around on the main floor, doing chores. There wasn’t much to do; she was always cleaning. The older Italian woman just liked to see the comings and goings of her tenants. Speaking of, she sent Cade a stern look, her eyes traveling to Sara’s face. He quickly explained in Italian that she was his girlfriend coming for a visit. Caden wasn’t entirely sure if he could call Sara that anymore or not, but it just made it easier and as far as he knew, Sara couldn’t be offended because she didn’t know Italian. “Ah, la fidanzata!” She exclaimed, shuffling over to the two blondes. She reached up and pinched Sara’s cheek like any other grandma might while cooing in Italian and then made motions that suggested they should come in. A knowing smile stayed on the Italian woman’s face as Cade led Sara up to his apartment. “Sorry about Carlotta,” Caden said in an attempt to try to keep things from being awkward. “She really likes you. I think she approves.” At least that was the impression the fallen had gotten, considering the fact that she had nothing but compliments to say. Finally, they reached his apartment and Cade’s whole body conveyed that he was embarrassed by the apartment. “It’s not much,” he commented quietly, looking away and rubbing the back of his neck with the hand that wasn’t attached to the arm around Sara. Caden led her into the kitchen, waiting until the last second to remove his arm from Sara’s waist. He pulled the kitchen chair out, silently offering the only seat in his apartment to her and then sitting on the counter himself. The blonde was hoping that Sara would come sit on the counter with him, but was worried she might need the space. Besides, once she heard what he had to say, then she might want to keep distance between them. “I’m so sorry,” he settled on saying, unsure of where else to begin.
NOTE Holy moly. So much babble. Sorry about that. Hope you enjoy it though <3333

i'd give up forever to touch you 'cause i know that you feel me somehow The mermaid shook her head at Cade when he had dropped the man. Not in a disapproving way, oh no. If Cade hadn't done that, Sara most likely would have done something on top of what she'd already done to his kneecap right between the legs for him. But no, Sara had stopped Cade, and she mused, "Don't worry, Cade." her voice soft and soothing, wanting to calm Cade down as best as she could. His anger was understandable, she felt her own anger boil, though their entire conversation in Italian was lost on her, she would admit she absolutely loved the sound of how the Italian tongue rolled off Cade's lips as effortlessly as she could swim. It was just natural to them. Natural to Cade and natural to her, just different things but they still had something that they seemed to be born to do. Like, she thought, they were born to be together, to make each other happier than the day before, even if that were possible, which Sara wasn't sure. Just being able to see Cade in the photos kept her spirits up enough to tell her Cade was at least alive somewhere. As long as he was happy, she told herself multiple times in the hours and weeks they had been apart. She had felt like a ghost without him, just a body moving around, going to class, doing her research and homework, swimming in the ocean. Which she would add wouldn't be the same again after Cade had gone swimming with her and giving him an oxygen tank had helped they discovered, even if he couldn't die, Sara couldn't imagine what it would feel like not being able to breathe. Ugh, that would suck majorly she thought. But that was all in the past. This was the now.
She was hugging him, god she never wanted to let go. The blonde just wanted to curl up safe in his arms till the day she died. She rested her head calmly on his chest, soaking the angel in when he spoke, arguing against her. What she'd expected. Grinning weakly into his shirt, the mermaid lifted her head slightly and inquired, "You know I'll still feel a little sorry either way." Green eyes gleamed brilliantly, making her think of their first well, morning together when they had spoken. How he had told her flat-out he'd carry her back to her bed if she dared to get out of it again. She had been so tempted to test him on that, though after seeing him with that guy, Sara doubted that she'd be able to out-run him or out-maneuver him on land for that matter. Yes, it was best just to go with it, not that she wouldn't, Sara would do anything Cade asked her to do - as long as it wasn't illegal, though she knew he wouldn't ask her to do anything that horrible. He was too wonderful for that. Their lips met once more and Sara could feel her knees go a little weak. If they hadn't been in public she would have most likely melted right into his arms. This kiss, every single kiss they shared was wonderful, and as always it ended too soon, even if both of them needed air, Sara hadn't wanted it to end, as cliché as that sounded, she really didn't. But her arms were still connected to him, reminding her that he was still really here. She was still really in Italy here with him, and she had actually found him after these many days just wandering, looking and asking random street vendors. The mermaid perked at the thought of going to his apartment and she nodded, eagerly following him, staying right at his side, not wanting to be too far from him ever again. These thousands of miles were painful enough for her, let alone just a few feet would not be fun. With his arm around her waist, Sara felt at home. Felt that no matter what Cade would always be there for her when she needed him most, just as she would be there for him when he needed her most, or even just for a little thing too. The mermaid looked up to him quietly, not caring about the other people around them, as if she could understand their whisperings in Italian anyway. Sara sighed in content when his lips met the side of her head, and she rested her head lightly on his upper bicep and his shoulder, where her head met him body. This was bliss right here she knew. No one she felt like, could really experience what she felt every time she was near Cade, every time he even looked her way. As they reached what she could assume was his apartment building, she looked and her eyes widened slightly when they landed on the elderly Italian woman who immediately spoke in Italian. Holy cow, Sara thought. She'd never be able to catch onto Italian unless she lived here for a few years and just spoke it all the time. Grinning lightly, politely towards the woman, she couldn't help but giggle slightly when she pinched her cheek, making her think of her step-mom's mom, her grandmother, who acted just like this woman did. As they headed upstairs, Sara threw out in Italian, having practiced, "It was nice to meet you." She beamed towards that, glad she had seemed to have gotten it right. One time she'd accidentally asked for a trip to the airport rather than to downtown. That had been fun to explain to the driver, and saying she wouldn't mind paying the Euros for the trouble. Looking to his brilliant blue eyes, Sara could feel her annoyance bubble deep down in her stomach, though melted over that nicely was pure bliss and joy. She'd found him. "I'm glad to hear that she does...and thanks for the short translation." Sara smiled gently, giving him a gentle look. It was true, sometimes people liked to translate word for word, when really she just figured to get the point across and it was all good. Keeping close, he opened his door and she shrugged softly, "I like it." she did. Simple. It fit Cade quite a bit as she couldn't see him living lavishly, not that he couldn't if he didn't want to, but that it just wasn't his personality. Sara didn't think Cade to be the type to live in luxury when he didn't absolutely need to. That, she respected greatly, as most people who could afford stuff or what-ever liked to flaunt it. Hovering as he offered her a chair and sat down on the counter, the mermaid looked to him silently, as if to say, "you think I want to be this far from you when I have the chance to be right next to you?" as she hopped up onto the kitchen counter next to him when she heard his apology. Reaching up, running her hand gently through his hair, Sara spoke, "Your apology's accepted, Cade." Figuring he'd feel better if he heard it. Her hand fell to his hand quietly, running her thumb gently over his hand in an attempt to see if she couldn't ease his pain. Swallowing, the mermaid lifted her gaze to meet the blue hues of the ocean in Cade's eyes, "I..." she paused, trying to find the words she wanted to use, "I can't believe...I really found you." she confessed, feeling a blush claw at her cheeks and neck as she glanced away, noticing she had lightly leaned against Cade when she sat next to him. The blonde fell silent though, allowing Cade to speak all that he wanted, as she had a big feeling he wanted to talk. Giving a gentle nod, Sara looked to the perfect man beside her, still wondering how she'd gotten this lucky, even after all this time. It was true though. It was real, Cade was as real as she was, and she never wanted it to end. [/blockquote] TAGGED ! Caden was feeling ridiculous, the whole scene basically straight out of a book or movie. That didn’t happen in real life, the macho fight scene or whatever it wanted to be called. At least Sara wasn’t completely appalled by it, because there were girls who would’ve been. They would’ve just written him off as some arrogant hot head who took any chance to pick a fight when he wasn’t. That was the problem with first impressions; you couldn’t pick them, no matter how off basis they were. Because Cade was anything but a person who went around acting tough and picking fights. He was much more likely to try to work things out through talking than he was to punch someone. Unless, of course, something really pissed him off like it just had. Those moments were few and far between though. And luckily, Sara wasn’t one to judge. His nerves about her reaction to his almost fight were completely settled the second she said ‘don’t worry’. Sara was saying that because she actually meant that he didn’t have to and not because she thought lying would be best in this situation. She wasn’t that type of person. The tone of her voice screamed safety and in that moment, Caden felt like he was going to breakdown. From, well everything. The stress and pain from not seeing Sara for weeks and thinking that he was never going to see her again, the surprise and relief and overwhelming guilt from her sudden appearance. It was all too much for one mind to bear.
And then Sara was in his arms, like she knew the exact moment he needed to feel her there. With her head rested against his chest and his chin sitting lightly on the top of her head, everything felt right. At least, it felt right as long as he ignored every outside thought that wanted nothing but to ruin the moment. They fit perfectly, standing there like that, like they were made to do that. Maybe they were. Cade had decided long ago, probably after their second or third date, that Sara was the one for him. If someone were to ask him about Maggie now, he’d say Maggie who? She wasn’t even a thought on his mind anymore. No, it was Sara and only Sara. It had taken him almost a century to find her, but she was well worth the wait. And the fallen knew that he could live for a hundred more years a thousand more years and never meet anyone like her. As sappy and overused as it was, Sara was his one and only. He would’ve stayed as lonely and depressed as he had been for the rest of his life, knowing he had given her up. The fallen never would’ve been complete, not with such a crucial part missing. And no one could say he was being young and dramatic; Caden had lived longer than most humans and felt like he knew what he was talking about. He was surer about this than anything he ever had been in his life. Something deep in his core was telling him that Sara, for a lack of a better word, was his soul mate.
“I know,” Cade said with a lightly crooked smile, his arms squeezing her just a bit tighter. She was stubborn in a quiet way, not overly stating her beliefs or arguing with anyone, but still firm in her opinion with little budge room. “But I still have to say it because there is nothing for you to feel bad about.” The blame was all his, as Sara would soon find out. But for now, he’d enjoy the walk with her before he completely ruined her opinion of him. Because if all else was ignored, he was here, in the most beautiful country in the world with the most amazing girl to have ever lived. And it was a wonderful day, sunny and bright with weather that was not too hot or too cold. “What do you think of the beautiful Italia?” He was honestly curious of her opinion on his home country. Did she love it or hate it or didn’t have much of an opinion? The blonde was wondering if it was some place she’d want to spend more time visiting. He wished that this trip had been on better terms, that he’d have the chance to show Sara around Italy and very possibly his actual hometown.
The fallen beamed like a proud parent when he heard Sara use Italian and correctly as well. “That was really good. Where did you learn that?” he asked, wondering where the sudden interest in the Italian language came from. He knew that it was rather similar to Spanish and there was the possibility that she just found it easy to learn it. Even the accent sounded good, a common aspect people seemed to botch every time they learned a new language. He laughed slightly when Sara said she was glad that Carlotta approved of her. It was the first time he had laughed in weeks, the first time he had even felt the urge to. “You wouldn’t have been allowed in if she didn’t.” Italian women always seemed to be extremely stubborn. Even if Sara didn’t understand Italian, she would’ve known immediately if Carlotta didn’t like her. That woman was not one who hid her feelings. Caden found himself smiling lightly when Sara said she liked his apartment. “You don’t have to lie. I promise it won’t hurt my feelings,” he joked, knowing that Sara wasn’t lying and wasn’t saying it for his benefit.
He couldn’t explain how happy he was when Sara came and sat with him on the counter. The fallen angel should’ve expected that she would, but it just felt better knowing that she had. Caden closed his eyes as Sara ran her hand through his hair and then her thumb over his hand, savoring those small touches that he had missed so much. “You shouldn’t accept it, Sara. Not just like that.” He wasn’t scolding her; he just didn’t think that he should be let off the hook so easily. Cade opened his eyes and stared hard at Sara, trying to convey that. He hated himself for what he did and she shouldn’t be okay with just an adequate apology. And even though he knew he wasn’t good enough for Sara, he couldn’t stop himself from pressing his lips to hers when she mentioned finding him. “I have no idea how you did it,” he said after pulling away but staying close enough to lean his forehead against her’s. There was a small, crooked smile gracing his lips. “But you’re just amazing.” The fallen angel stayed where he was, staring into Sara’s eyes. He felt like he could just stay like this. But his guilt was getting the better of him and he couldn’t keep ignoring it.
Sighing, he moved back and his eyes shifted to the floor. “I owe you an explanation,” he said finally, trying to find the best way to word things. But there was no good way to word it. Caden just didn’t want Sara to hate him. He couldn’t help but think that as much as it hurt him to say, it had to hurt her twice as much hearing it. Cade didn’t want to break her heart again. “I’m not good enough for you.” He paused again, getting his words in order. “Sara, I love you. So much that I can’t even express it. I don’t want to hold you back from your life and it’s going to happen someday. I just thought that getting over with the separation now would make things easier later.” The blonde glanced back at Sara with a puppy dog look almost, before scrubbing his face with his hands and then resting his face in his hands, elbows resting on his knees.

i'd give up forever to touch you 'cause i know that you feel me somehow The mermaid watched the blonde with fond eyes at his words, then perked at his inquiry of what he thought of his home country. Having hardly looked around, though only somewhat because she had been looking for him day in and day out, she grinned sheepishly then answered, "I absolutely love it. The history, the weather, the food, the people. I really love it here, I definitely want to come back." she spoke, then paused, "I do though, plus it's surrounded by a bunch of water too." Sara flashed a bright smile towards the angel. Her angel. Her Cade. Not in the possessive sense, but in the sense that, he really is hers. She was his, and he was hers. Just the little bond that they shared, and she never wanted it to break. She knew he'd broken it when he left, but Sara was eager to restore it, to try and make things better with him than they ever were, which seemed to easily be the case. Even if she had been ticked at him for awhile, it all melted away when she landed in this gorgeous country, and she just - forgave Caden. He did have reason behind it, but she figured he could have told her, nonetheless, Sara understood. She would had done the same thing had she been in his shoes. Maybe this was being selfish though. She was staking herself to the ground for Cade, and once she died, it would only cause him more pain, pain she didn't want to ever be the cause for, but she would ultimately. Cringing at this idea, the mermaid quickly shook it away before it rooted itself into her brain and she was doomed to think about it for the rest of the time she would be in Italy. That would happen and she wouldn't be able to fully enjoy her time here with Cade in this beautiful country he got to call home. She'd admit, Sara was partially jealous. "Umm...my dictionary, and being surrounded by it helps tons." she answered to his question about how she'd learned it. Sara smiled innocently, and inquired, "Probably like you learned English? Or...were you raised with both or just Italian?" There, a little question on languages for him. He was skilled, she'd noted, with mimicking people's accents and such, probably a result of him having been around as long as he had been. She couldn't imagine all the places Cade had been to in his life, all the wonderful things he had seen. She only hoped she'd be able to do that someday, with him of course. Be her guide in a sense. Nevertheless, Sara wanted to be with Cade till the day she didn't have a breath left in her body. She wanted to be able to wake up to his handsome, perfect self and then go to sleep by his perfect, handsome self. Every day and she would be happy for eternity/the rest of her life on this earth. She squirmed playfully at Cade's side when he mentioned her lying. Oh, Sara hated lying, as she could see Cade did too, which was such a relief, as she had known so many guys to lie to everyone and anyone. Cade was too good, too good for her it felt like sometimes. "It suits you." she stated simply in her defense, placing a hand opposite from Cade underneath her leg when she had fully gotten comfortable on the counter next to him, green eyes meeting the brilliant baby-blue-hued eyes of the angel next to her. She hesitated at his words of accepting the apology, and she frowned slightly, not towards him, but towards herself. Pursing her lips, Sara added, "I would like to know....why." she spoke softly, her voice not condescending or accusatory in any way. She was just purely curious as to why he had left, and why he had chosen that day if there was any reason of importance of that to him. Her worrying was stopped abruptly when Cade pressed his lips to hers. God if only he knew what he did to her when he kissed her like that. Like it might be their last one, she wanted to never stop kissing him if she could. But alas that wouldn't happen, they both needed air eventually, and Sara was just perfect sitting by him, being super close to him as possible. That thought was crushed when she felt him move away, and she looked to him as concern decided to show itself in her features when she then heard him start to explain. Her heart jumped at the "I love you" part, while her mind listened to the rest of it. Good, she had all her attention on him, and half of her attention on one thing he said, the other half on the other thing(s) he had explained. So, he thought he was holding her back? Sara tilted her head slightly towards Cade, a curious look falling onto her features before the blonde then watched him move after he finished speaking, his face in his hands on his knees. Sighing softly, she closed her eyes for a moment, running a hand calmly through his hair, "I love you Cade." she spoke first, looking down to the spot on the floor he'd looked at before lifting her gaze to lock onto the man in front of her. Sara paused, getting her words in order, attempting to figure out how to explain what she was thinking without going completely off-topic or off-board, "I don't want to imagine my life without you in it, Caden." She loved his name, she wanted to say it again, but restrained herself. "Even if you think leaving will be easy....it won't...for either one of us." she paused, squeezing his arm gently, running her hand down the side of his face and then brushing back some of his hair, "I can't see myself going on with my life without you Cade." She sounded so naive, so childish. Cade was immortal, she was just...temporary. She hated that word. Pushing it away, Sara closed her eyes, and looked to him, "I know it may sound...selfish..but...I don't ever want to lose you Cade, I just don't want to go a day without seeing you." That sounded a bit better. Her thoughts tumbled over each other, and she knew she wanted to say more, but how? She couldn't voice them right now, maybe she could soon, but all she knew was that she definitely didn't want to lose Cade ever again. As the thought of immortality appeared in her mind, Sara fell silent, and then quickly pressed her lips to Cade's once more, enjoying the pure bliss and pulled away gently, "You're not too good for me, and don't try to convince yourself or me otherwise. You're absolutely wonderful." [/blockquote] TAGGED ! kel love! <3LYRICS ! song - artistWORDS ! plenty ^^NOTES ! ^^ <33OUTFIT ! LINKAGE!CREDIT ! The fallen angel was glad Sara liked Italy. It was completely perfect, this amazing girl and the most beautiful country in the world. “It really is incredible,” Caden agreed. He smiled at her comment of it being surrounded by water. “You’ll love the beaches here. We’ll have to go check them out.” Cade still couldn’t believe that she was here with him. It was all so surreal, when even an hour ago, he had thought that he’d never see her again. And here she was, in his arms. The blonde half expected her to just disappear into thin air, to just leave him here all alone. Caden wouldn’t be able to take the separation again. How could he have thought he’d be prepared to completely walk away from her? Now though, Caden was sure he wouldn’t have been able to do it. He would’ve given up and gone crawling back to Sara, begging her to forgive him for being stupid. And if she hadn’t, he would’ve spent the remainder of her life trying to make it up and the rest of his feeling horribly guilty about it. It was so horribly selfish of the fallen; he had left for Sara’s sake but would return for his own because he was much too weak to be without her. How pathetic; he couldn’t even do the right thing.
He smiled again, this time a little brighter. It sounded like she was asking him how he had learned English. “My mother absolutely refused to teach us English. Both she and my father knew it, though my mom’s was more of broken English. My dad had to know it for his job and my mom had picked up on some of it. But she didn’t want us to taint our Italian roots.” He wouldn’t tell Sara, but his mom had always kind of looked down on Americans and their culture, which is why she didn’t want her children to learn English. It wasn’t without reason though; her brother had immigrated to America and brought his wife and baby with him. They had been treated with nothing but hostility and hate and they had been confused as to why because had the situation been reversed, had a young American family walked into their town, they would’ve found open arms. It didn’t mean her mom hated Americans – she just wasn’t very tolerant of their nastier values and didn’t want her children under those influences. She would’ve absolutely loved Sara though, Caden was sure of it. “When I was an angel,” he started. Cade hated talking about when he was a guardian angel and avoided it if possible, but he didn’t mind with Sara. “I was introduced to so many different languages and I picked up on a few phrases from all of them. That was when I started to learn English.” By the time he had fell, he was pretty good at English. There were some phrases that he hadn’t had down and when he said something that Americans thought sounded weird, he could see a bit of that same hostility some got around foreigners.
Sara’s little wiggle was absolutely adorable, much like every other habit she seemed to have. Caden wondered if she realized how cute everything she did was, how much he loved to see it and how he waited for those little moments. Of course she’d want to know though, as she should. Sara deserved an explanation and he would give it to her. She wasn’t rude about it at all, just curious, and Cade appreciated. It was hard enough trying to justify what he did and it’d be ten times harder if she was already against anything that would come from his mouth. The mermaid, even if she didn’t realize it, was much too good of a person. She was the type who should become a guardian angel. She’d be excellent as one, very kind and caring and compassionate, never judging and always trying to keep an open mind. He felt ashamed of himself just sitting next to her, which he figured was part of the reason why he felt the need to hide his face. He knew he had repeated the sentiment a billion times, but he just wasn’t good enough for her. There were so many others out there who could be.
And even as he thought that, Caden knew it’d kill him if she ever was happy with another guy, despite the fact that that was what he wanted. He couldn’t help but feel insanely lucky (and slightly smug that it was him with the young woman and no one else) when Sara said that she loved him and ran her hand through his hair. The blonde raised his head to make eye contact with her again, unable to look away from her beautiful green eyes. If the fallen had to pick a physical feature that he loved about her, it’d be her eyes. When people talked about windows being eyes to a person’s soul, they had no clue until they caught her emerald ones. They were the true definition of expressiveness. He couldn’t even begin to explain what her words did to him when she mentioned that she didn’t want to think about her life without him in it. Cade liked knowing that she shared the same sentiment; it filled him with such joy that even that word didn’t cover it. The other problem was that it caused issues in the fact that, how was Caden going to convince her that he was going to do nothing but bad in her life? Because he still believed that, even if he didn’t want to see her go. Ever.
“I never thought it’d be easy,” Cade objected, not wanting Sara to have that assumption. Leaving her, it had been the hardest decision in his life. Even worse than the one he had made when he had the choice to stay in heaven or get sent to earth. “That’s why I had snuck out like a coward instead of sitting down and explaining things. Just looking at you, Sara, I would’ve given up. My resolve for this wasn’t strong at all. I thought it was best if I just left.” And there she was, trying to make herself sound bad when she wasn’t at all. “It’s not selfish, at all.” He felt the same exact way, word for word. But he as trying to ignore that so he could do the better thing for Sara. Because he didn’t doubt what Sara was saying, but was afraid that someday that sentiment would fade simply because it was something that was too good to last. “But don’t you see, Sara? You’re going to grow up, outgrow me. You’re always changing and I’ll always be an immature kid. You’ll grow up and become a marine biologist and want a family. And I’ll just be this with a different name.”

i'd give up forever to touch you 'cause i know that you feel me somehow As the fallen mentioned that she would love the beaches, the mermaid didn't have a doubt in her mind that that was true. She could see herself tanning happily on the beach right beside Cade, just enjoying wasting the day away. As she thought about this a dream-like look fell on her features. Yes, she certainly would need to do that, and now she was partially thankful she'd brought her swimsuit in the first place. She figured she wouldn't be doing much swimming, more looking for Caden while she was here, but there were tons of beaches, so she figured she probably should, that way she could blend in while she looked for him at a beach. It had made sense at the time, now, she just knew she wanted to go anywhere and everywhere with Caden, it didn't matter as long as he was right beside her. Feeling her fingers gently caress the hand of Cade's that she had encased within her hands, the blonde nodded solemnly, listening to Cade's words. It seemed to suit the stubborn mother Sara had pictured his mother to be, but she could see her being a lot like Beatriz, she had hated the idea of learning English, but when she met Sara's father, everything seemed to change and she wanted to learn English so bad, by now she was pretty good, but with some phrases like "brinner" Sara had grown up hearing, she wasn't sure of, as Sara figured Cade probably didn't know some "slang" either like she did. But that seemed just like baby stuff to what Sara imagined Cade has seen over his lifetime on this earth. The relationships crumble, people become friends, lovers, marriages, wars, hatred, greed, guilt, compassion. Everything good and bad, he had to have seen, she felt so young next to him, but yet never felt more accepted before in her life for who she was as a complete person.
The mermaid's attention remained solely on Cade and she smiled softly, "I would have loved to have been able to meet your mother." she smiled genuinely, she wasn't afraid of meeting Cade's mother if she had to, but then again this wasn't any normal love story. She could grow a tail and swim in the ocean for weeks and years at a time, Cade could throw people like rocks and never age. This certainly wasn't a typical love story for either one of them. Something Sara had prepared herself for as she began to notice just how much she really cared about Cade over these past months they'd been together. "You seem to have it down, except for some slang." Sara grinned lightly, giving Cade a reassuring squeeze around his hands. It was true, but unlike Cade, Sara didn't have all the time in the world to pick up on things like he could. Well...her mind pointed this out once more. She could, but it would require both of them agreeing to it. She knew she certainly was, but would Cade? Worry appeared briefly over her features before she managed to brush it away. It was true, Sara would give up everything, time mostly to be with Cade. She could act like she was older, she could probably pull off being 26, and out of college to land a job. Green eyes met the beautiful blue ones of Cade, and she kissed the tip of his nose happily, unable to resist. He was just so darn cute, adorable, handsome, wonderful, perfect and she could go on and on, but she'd stop herself right there before she went on anymore. Smiling lightly, the blonde tilted her head with slight concern as she then felt her smile fade slightly, giving way to a more somber-looking expression on her features. As the fallen began to speak, Sara heard his first comment, and she nodded gently, feeling her hair fall past her shoulders as she did so, "I...didn't think so." She agreed, she knew she would never be able to leave Cade. If she had to, she would have done it the exact same way, like a coward and hope for the best. Would he have come after her like she'd done him? Her eyes met his and she shortly had her answer. Of course. The mermaid was strong in her beliefs, though quiet, but she was strong with them and she knew that Cade would come after her, she believed they had been meant to be together no matter what, and that included time. Sara listened intently to what Cade had to say, and he then started to continue, as if trying to convince her to leave. That he wasn't good for her and that she shouldn't let him hold her back. Emerald eyes gleamed brightly, silently telling Cade she was stubborn in her silent ways, and she wasn't leaving, not without a very good, non-argumentative, logical reason. Pausing, picking her words, the mermaid answered, capturing both his hands with hers, wanting to be as close to him as possible, "Cade..." she sighed his name, letting it smoothly roll off her tongue before she ran a thumb gently over his hands, in a calming manner, "Oh Cade...I know I may grow, but I will never outgrow you." She figured he knew what she meant by that. Just because she may get gray hair one day - if she didn't go see that witch - she would still love Cade just as much as she did this very moment. Looking down to their hands, she spoke, "It's just..." she wanted to tell him, give a hint to her thoughts, see what he thought, "I've heard witches can do amazing things with a potion...especially ones who know what they're doing." She felt a shiver course down her spine, "I want to be with you forever Cade, I don't want time to separate us if I can help it." There, that gave him a hint to what she was thinking. She was already decided on the matter, but she was wanting to know what Cade thought, after all she wasn't sure what she'd do if he said no and stood by that. Pushing that thought away, Sara lifted her head - if Cade hadn't - and locked her gaze with his. Cade was absolutely wonderful, and she still wondered how she happened to get this lucky to be able to have Cade. [/blockquote] TAGGED ! Caden couldn’t wait to take Sara to explore the beaches. The Mediterranean was unlike anything Sara had ever seen before. Or at least he hoped it’d be. The first time he had moved to the United States, the blonde had headed out to California, thinking he’d enjoy living by the beach. He was sorely disappointed when he was met with cold, dark, and slightly murky water. It was nothing like the beaches he had grown up on, which had clear blue water that you could look into and see the sand below your feet. Plus, there was a mermaid colony off of one of the more sheltered beaches. Or at least he believed there was one. And the fallen knew that Sara had been looking for her mom. There was a possibility that that she could be there, though he wasn’t entirely sure how likely that was. Especially considering the fact that she could prefer spending time on land with humans. It was a shot in the dark, but the woman had to be somewhere, right? Speaking of mothers, Sara mentioned that she wished she could’ve met his. “My family would’ve absolutely adored you,” Cade assured her, unable to keep a smile off his face as he imagined what his family’s reaction to her would’ve been. “My mom would’ve fawned all over you, constantly trying to make you eat because she’d think you were too skinny. My dad would’ve treated you like his own daughter, but he probably wouldn’t have been as outright affectionate just because he wasn’t like that. My sisters would’ve adored you and would’ve told you all my embarrassing stories.” He wished that they were still alive. He had that feeling every day, but it was particularly strong at this moment.
Now came the part where Sara would hate him. Cade was sure of it. Because now was the time when he was being purposely deceitful when he had promised himself that he’d never lie to Sara. “Yeah, I knew there were witches that could turn people immortal.” Christian had told him about it a few weeks ago or so when Caden had told him just how serious his feelings were for the amazing mermaid, long before Cade had ever considered leaving. The Immortal had recommended a specific witch that he knew he could trust and at first, Cade was ecstatic. And why wouldn’t he be? The prospect of being with Sara forever was much too good to believe. At that point, he had already known that he’d spend the rest of Sara’s life with her and knew that the day she died would be the day he went and pissed off some angel just so he could die too. Because after being with Sara, he couldn’t imagine a world without her in it. Knowing that she could be alive forever, with him, had made him happier than he ever thought possible. But then he started to think about it, and the more Caden mulled over it, the more he realized he couldn’t do it to her. “You need to understand that this life isn’t all smiles and rainbows.” The fallen caught Sara’s gaze with his holding it for a few seconds before glancing away. He wanted to protect her from all the evils in the world, but the best way to get his point across was being brutally honest and telling the facts straight instead of trying to sugarcoat them.
“Things would be wonderful for the first couple of years. But I’ve already been in the same spot for two years now. I probably have another three to five years and then I’ve got to move again. That’s what your life becomes, Sara. Counting down until you have to move again.” For Caden, moving had never been much of an issue. He never had too many things, typically keeping his belongings to what would fit in his car in one trip and that was about it. And sure, moving didn’t sound all that bad if you tried to ignore other details. “Every time you move, you have to start all over again. New identity, new back story, new details to keep straight. You have to be careful that you don’t slip up and make a mistake. In a handful of decades, your parents will be dead. Add a few more decades and everyone you’ve grown up with will be dead, too.” The fallen sighed, hating having to be so harsh. He wanted to tell her that everything would be perfectly fine if she was immortal with him, but he was afraid of it not turning out what she wanted it to be. He’d feel completely awful if she changed because of him, only to be miserable for an eternity.
“Don’t you see? It isn’t living, Sara. You want to be a marine biologist, but every time we moved, you’d have to start over. Go through college again, pay for it all. And for what? A degree that you might only get to use for a year or two before we moved again? You’d never get to have those friends that you knew for most of your life. And I don’t know if it’s even possible to have a family.” That had to be the worst part about everything, the fact that you started with a blank slate every few years. He hated thinking about the fact that he’d someday just vanish into thin air without telling anyone where he had gone. Like Owen. Caden hated thinking that he’d someday have to leave the kid he’d come to love as a brother without even being able to give him a heads up or any sort of explanation. How could he ask her to become immortal if he knew he was subjecting her to all of this? Cade was afraid he was giving her the wrong impression though, that he didn’t want her to spend the rest of time with her. “I want to spend eternity with you, but I’m not going to do it at your own expense.” He’d much rather spend a short amount of time with her and have her completely happy than spend forever and only having her be partially so. Caden hoped Sara understood, that she wasn’t too angry to see the logic behind his thinking. He straightened up and put his arm around her shoulders, pulling her as close as possible without her actually sitting in his lap and lightly kissing the top of her head.

i'd give up forever to touch you 'cause i know that you feel me somehow God she couldn't wait to see the oceans here. Granted she saw them somewhat driving around on the coast to get here, and when she flew in, but that she knew wouldn't be the same when she actually got to swim in them. Practically beaming like the sun, the mermaid's attention didn't ever falter from Cade as he then spoke of his family and what they'd do. She couldn't help but smile, as she could see Cade just standing off to the side of when all this happened, and especially the stories, look away and do that adorable thing he did when he got embarrassed, rub his neck. Reaching up with her hand, she placed her hand in some of his blonde hair on the lower part of his head, calmly running her fingers through the locks she could reach, resting her arm on his shoulder. Emerald eyes watched the ones that she knew could only compete with the ocean on a perfect day, where the brilliant blue of the water gave way to the forms of being crystal clear. Cade's eyes were absolutely wonderful, and Sara couldn't imagine not ever being able to look at those when she needed something to cheer her up on a day if it happened to be raining for instance. "I can imagine your pain...." she mused, meaning both thinking of her family, as well as the pain of when his sisters may have told embarrassing stories. She fortunately didn't have siblings to share stories with like that, but she had older step-siblings and younger ones, though they just hadn't been around for when she was growing up, they'd gotten there when she was in her senior year of high school, since Beatriz had been fighting to get her children back from her ex-husband in Mexico.
Feeling her skin suddenly feel cold for some reason, though it was quite nice and warm here, Sara couldn't help but get the chills. She wasn't entirely sure why, but the mermaid was intent on figuring out why she'd gotten them, she settled as she just then heard Cade mention about this immortal life. A look fell along the mermaid's features, as if daring him to think she hadn't thought about this. The mermaid had done her planning - as she tended to do - she had done a list of cons and pros on the flight, as well as just thinking over it. She'd have to say good-bye to her dad and step-mom, whom she both loved very much, but she didn't want to say good-bye to them, and especially Cade. She hadn't wanted to talk to her dad about this, mainly because she knew he would do the thing he always did - support her no matter what her decision would be. Pausing, Sara opened her mouth before he mentioned the life wasn't rainbows and smiles, she then added quickly before he could continue, since she didn't want to interrupt him, "I have my boat...Cade. We can stay on there for times too, stop in little towns to restock when we didn't want to deal with the documents..." she spoke. It was true, the boat was pretty new, and she knew houseboats if they were taken care off could go for decades. She fell silent, finding her hands drawing away from him as she searched for a rubber band quickly and in a haste, tied her hair back, wanting to keep it out of her face for the time being, as she listened, feeling like she was not only being taught, but reviewing what she had already thought of. Sara had taken it upon herself and thought it over. It wasn't like marriage - oh no - it was something that would last forever, she would last forever on this Earth with him, roaming with him, discovering new things. Continuing to listen to him, Sara could feel an emotion start to boil inside her that was an emotion that was extremely strange to her. She rarely felt it, and she liked it that way, but sometimes she got it, and she wasn't sure what to do with it. The feeling began to get bigger and bigger, boiling inside her system, making her blood boil with annoyance, this emotion was so foreign. Dropping her hands from his, Sara slid off the counter then, and turned back to Cade, almost feeling like she was a child asking for a cotton candy bag that she knew she'd never be able to get. Feeling him pull her close and kissing the top of her head, which she found absolutely adorable, but nonetheless, the mermaid was fearful for losing Cade to time. Tucking a short stand of hair that had escaped her rubber band behind her ear, the blonde spoke, placing both her hands on the counter on either side of Cade, closing the space between them, "It's your definition of living, Cade. Not mine." she stated, feeling her metaphorically root herself to her spot and thoughts, "I've thought about it Cade, I have. I had lists and lists and reasons why I should and shouldn't." she sighed, but managed to keep her eyes locked onto his, "What if I want to spend eternity with you, Cade? And I'm willing to give it up?" she asked, hoping he wouldn't be able to find a way to poke a hole through that, especially since it was how she felt, not an actual fact. "I'm willing to do it, Caden." She loved his name - no time to think about that now. The mermaid tilted her head gently, looking up to the blonde in front of her, "I'm used to moving, Cade. I've become accustomed to making the types of friends where I will hang out with them, but they will never be the type where I will tell them what I really am." For some reason, Sara felt like she was fighting a lost cause. It was a feeling she didn't like, and she wanted to win this. God did she. Or technically she didn't need Cade to go with her, she could just go to the town she'd heard the witch was in, and she was sure just ask around, after all it was a tiny town she'd heard, one of those towns where everyone knew everyone, someone would most likely know of Antonia. Sara had heard her name more than once, appeared she had quite a bit of a reputation on this side of Italy. The mermaid dropped her hands from either side of Cade, and took a few steps back, emerald eyes looking at him affectionately, though right beneath that she knew he'd be able to see, would be fear. Fear for the pain she'd cause him one day. Fear for Cade for when/if she died, what would become of him? She tensed when she felt a tear or so escape her eyes before she could stop it, and she confessed, her head sagging, "I don't want to cause you any pain, Cade." she admitted, "I know I will cause you pain when I die, and I don't want to ever do that." The thing she wanted to do, was be sure Cade would be happy, healthy and safe. She knew if an angel came after him, she'd do everything in her power to convince the other being otherwise. Taking a careful step towards him, never wanting to be too far from him, Sara's eyes met his, never wanting to not be able to look to his gorgeous eyes when she wanted to, when she felt like it, "I just..." she sighed, the sigh escaping her lips shakily, "I'm sorry." she smiled weakly, "It's just, I don't want to ever cause you pain, ever. I do want to spend eternity with you Cade." She felt she was being spoiled right now. Or selfish. Selfish seemed more like it. Neither of them didn't want to lose the other one, so why didn't it make sense? Sara approached Cade carefully, shaking away her tears calmly, "I don't want to ever be away from you, I'm willing to do what I need to do, Cade, to keep us safe, protected. Willing to move when we need to in order to protect ourselves." her voice faded, almost ready to put up the white flag. Sara looked to Cade, regrouping herself, and muttered an apology again. The fallen couldn’t explain the feeling that ripped through his body when Sara jumped off the counter. The only thing he could think of was a sudden sense of loss and desperation and he wouldn’t be surprised if the expression was written all over his face. He had known that she’d be angry because why wouldn’t she? Caden had kept something from her that, had he told her, could’ve prevented this whole situation. And even though he had known that, he still hadn’t thought she’d actually act on that anger. Not to say that Sara never did, but in all the time that he had known her, she had never once gotten overly angry. Hell, even this whole time he had been expecting her to do something, but she always seemed to overlook his mistakes and just accept him as he was. Now though, it was obvious that he had crossed a line. Her stance and expression said it all and Cade regretted trying to keep the chance of her being immortal from her. Sara didn’t need protecting, not as much as Caden liked to think she did. She was a strong girl, very capable of taking care of herself; he just had a knight in shining armor complex. And of course Sara was able to uncover the very information he had wanted to hide. She was a supernatural with all the same access he had to their hidden world and people talked. Especially about something as big as an immortal potion. With all this talk about soul mates going around, it was only natural for an immortal being to want his or her non-immortal partner like them. At least the mermaid hadn’t reacted negatively to the fallen angel pulling her closely to him and kissing her hair. Cade was certain that he wouldn’t have been able to take her rejection, not at this point.
Cade had no idea why he was thinking Sara hadn’t gone into this unprepared. It was just like her to make a list of pros and cons, to weigh every option before making a decision. Her mentioning of the houseboat was only evidence of that. The blonde never would’ve come up with that thought on his own and having the houseboat would certainly make things a bit easier here and there. But even then, he still couldn’t think that she was making the correct decision. It was because he had been stuck in this life so long and he had been so unhappy with it. On a day to day basis, he seemed absolutely joyous, like nothing could bring him down. And he was like that, around other people. It was when he returned to his apartment and was alone that he realized how much he hated being where he was, what he was. The whole living forever thing did get old after a while. Maybe it had been because he was alone. Things could be better if it was both of them together. Caden didn’t want to base the decision on how things could be though. The couple had never fought (other than now, it seemed), but what if they did a hundred years in and got into such a bad argument that they never wanted to talk again. He doubted it’d happen, but there was always that possibility and he would forever hate having ruined Sara’s life over nothing. That was what it all boiled down to, his opposition, the argument, everything. Cade didn’t want to ruin Sara’s life. His heart did a small half skip as Sara leaned close to him again, her hands on either side of him on the counter. The blonde just wanted to forget everything for now, be happy that she had found him and basically be lost in the moment. It took all his willpower to not lean forward and kiss her but instead concentrate on what she had to say.
Sara was willing to do it, do it all, for him. And that was exactly what Caden didn’t want. He didn’t want her to have to throw her life away that she had here all because of him. He didn’t want her to have to be willing to do anything. The fallen wanted to give Sara as normal of a relationship as he could and didn’t want her to have to change at all. This was when the feeling of him wanting to be just a plain old human became extremely strong. It was something Cade had always hoped for, ever since he became a fallen angel. He never wanted to be supernatural, would’ve been perfectly fine staying a human. Even if it meant he’d be dead right now. Of course that feeling had evaporated the second he realized he loved Sara and all he could think about was how lucky he was that he had had the opportunity to stick around on earth so he could meet her. And now that stupid feeling was rearing its ugly head again, like it was mocking him. Like it was all a joke, the idea that him and Sara could’ve had a normal relationship and now reality was trying to set in. “You shouldn’t have to change for me. I don’t want to be the one who drags you away from everything.” Caden could feel his hands becoming fists and he quickly shoved them under his thighs, hoping Sara hadn’t seen. He wasn’t getting angry at her. Not at all. He wasn’t even sure if that was possible. Rather, the young man was angry at himself, hating himself, for having to be someone who was difficult. “And just because you’re used to something doesn’t mean you’re okay with it. Moving is horrible and you’ll get lonely after a while. I know I’ll be there with you, but we’d drive each other insane if all we saw and all we talked to were each other for the next millennium.” Cade was trying to stick to the things that he could argue with right now. Sara’s feelings were set and there was no way he could change them at all. But maybe if he threw enough logic her way, it would win those over.
That thought was in complete vain. Caden could see the planning and scheming going on behind Sara’s brilliant green eyes. It didn’t matter what he had to say. It had never mattered. The mermaid knew what she wanted and would go along with it whether or not she had his support. And there was absolutely nothing he could do. Sure, he could try to get to Antonia before Sara did, try to make the witch see his thinking and convince her to not help Sara. But why would he even bother doing that? For one, the witch probably wouldn’t listen. Secondly, Sara was an adult. It all came down to her decision and her decision alone. If she went through with it, it wasn’t Cade’s place to meddle. She took a few steps back and Cade felt that weird mix of fear and desperation again. He watched a tear roll down her cheek and felt self-loathing mix itself into the equation. The fallen was certain his heart was breaking, knowing he was causing her enough pain to make her cry. What kind of person was he? The blonde wanted to comfort her, but Sara had stepped away from him. Did that mean she didn’t want him to come near her? He kept himself firmly rooted to the counter, waiting for a signal that came when Sara took a step towards him again. Instantly, the angel was off the counter, closing the distance between them and wrapping his arms around her, attempting to sooth her crying. “You need to stop apologizing,” he said, a light smile playing at his lips, though Sara couldn’t see it. “There’s nothing for you to be sorry for. Sara, spending forever with you is honestly the best thing that could ever happen to me. I just don’t want you to have to give up everything for it to happen. I can’t rightfully take you away from your parents, friends, and the life you’ve built.” Cade wasn’t worth all of that loss.

i'd give up forever to touch you 'cause i know that you feel me somehow She had wanted to find him. She had wanted to tell him that she had been hurt he left, but she was looking past it, it wasn't Cade's personality to leave people when they needed help. She had needed help, his support and what-ever he was willing to do. As horriblly cliché as it sounded, Sara felt like she couldn't live without Cade as her daily dose of a drug she knew would only get worse as time moved on. Time. Why did it have to try and keep them apart? She knew when she got older, they'd have to go with the act of being mother and son, and she shivered at the very idea of having to call Cade her son in a new town. That way at least they could probably stay there longer than they could now with Cade, both of them being young as most people tended to believe "older" people and Sara could get away with it. It was the very thought of leaving him behind that frightened her. Not knowing what he'd do, how he'd feel, who else he'd go after and fall in love with. Her soul-mate with another woman made her blood boil, though no evidence was shown physically. She didn't want to tell Cade that she was mad, even if she wasn't necessarily mad at him she refused to let him know she was as mad as she really was. It wasn't that the mermaid was pissed at him, she was pissed at herself for getting her hopes up. What had she expected, Cade to jump up to the idea? Her naive side say yes, of course! But her logical side said no, that he had given her the signs that he hated immortality, that he didn't want to be like how he was and didn't want to live forever. He already was though, and Sara wanted to be right there with him till the end of the world.
Sighing softly, the mermaid corrected herself, "I'm sorry." she spoke, then added, green eyes meeting the wonderfully-hued ones of Cade, "I want to give it up, Cade. I'm ready to, I want to." she repeated, feeling as if she were falling and she wouldn't have a way to get back up unless he helped her. Her hands instinctively reached for Cade, wanting to be closer to him, at the second he jumped up off the counter, and closed the space between them, sending pleasant chills down her spine. God, she loved him so much. Sara didn't want to even think about when she would leave Cade, if she ever could possibly do that. If he made her stay mortal, she'd make sure that if they could to maybe have children, if it just worked out. She had always wanted children, though if it meant being immortal with Cade to not have children, Sara was happy to give that up, after all she could always adopt, and then eventually the two of them would need to tell their adopted child about not only being adopted, but why they seemed like such young parents. Look at me, she thought silently. She was always planning things out for the future. She felt herself move close to Cade as his arms wrapped around her frame, and her own arms mimicked his movements, not wanting to be too far from him, mashing their atoms together. She smiled gently into his strong chest, resting her cheek on it, her face to the side, "It doesn't mean we couldn't socialize, Cade." she mused, poking a finger at his statement on only talking to each other. It didn't mean they had to isolate themselves, they could socialize, but just had to keep the "work" type of relationships with people and try not to get too close. She clung to his shirt, closing her eyes, getting an image of Cade in her head that she wished she hadn't imagined. It was him, wandering the earth a century from now. She'd most likely be dead from age, having most likely lived a happy life with him, but she couldn't get the image of the immense sadness and grief she saw on his face. How could he let her do that to him? Closing her eyes, she tried to will it away before she let the water works happen again, which she preferred not to happen three times in the same day. That would most likely be a new record for her. She didn't particularly enjoy the thought of just bawling on Cade's shirt, ruining it some more and she didn't want to have him see her cry again today. But the image haunted her like a bad dream she couldn't shake, and the mermaid clung to Cade closer, tighter as if she were hanging onto him for dear life. A sigh escaped pink lips as she remained there, Cade in her arms and her in his, soaking up the moment, barely hearing anything else but Cade's breathing, her own breathing synced together nicely. They just suited each other, they had been made for each other, and not very many people she thought got to say that they found their soul-mate. She was proud that she could. Snuggling deeper - if at all possible - into Cade's form, Sara practically smothered herself on Cade, wanting to just enjoy a moment or two of bliss before she was yanked back into harsh reality. Upon hearing his words, she opened her eyes and lifted her head from his chest, peering up at him from her position, not letting go, and she spoke calmly, "What can I do to prove to you that you're all I want? What can I say?" she asked, almost begging. He just told her he wanted to be with her forever, but didn't want her to sacrifice everything she had. The only things she had was Cade and her family now, she'd moved too many times in high school to really bother staying in contact with people, and her internship now and her job and such took up a lot of her time, getting money and such instead of socializing. Her parents would understand, well - her dad and step-mom, she doubted she'd tell her mom, if she could find her, though she knew she was around here, around Italy, Sara wasn't too worried, she had never met her mother, and only wore the pearl necklace she was wearing now, to remind her that her mother was out there somewhere, safe and sound. Clinging to Cade lightly, the blonde looked to the perfect blonde in front of her, asking her luck how this had happened. How she had been so lucky to be able to meet Cade, and for him to like love her back just as she did him. Letting Cade answered, Sara kept her head peering up to the fallen quietly, wanting to know what was going on in his head, "Maybe...maybe the witch...she could help us." she spoke absent-mindedly, though she just meant, and she hoped Cade figured out what she meant, that maybe the witch could be a good medium between the two of them and offer advice or something. Shrugging it off, Sara lied her head against his chest once more, smiling softly as she remained there, never wanting to let go. [/blockquote] TAGGED !
