Sara was cute when she thought about something, which was very obvious. Her face was a mixture of curiosity and determination. Whatever she was trying to figure out, she would; Cade had absolutely no doubt about that. The question was, what was Sara trying to figure out? Hell, she was downright adorable, if Caden just wanted to get to the point. Cade had dated a good number of girls in his life, and never had he described one as adorable. There were so many things that were different about Sara, different in a good way. And to be perfectly honest, it was nice. Invigorating, even. He found himself wanting to spend time with Sara instead of counting down the minutes until their time together was over. The fallen angel couldn’t even think of the last time he had been this happy. Just a simple happy; there was no elaborate reason for it. He was happy to be with this girl next to him, his spirits lifted without Sara having to do anything. He’d only ever felt like that with one other person, and sometimes Cade wondered if he had imagined it. If he had been so in love with the idea of love that when he had realized he had a crush on Maggie, he was all primed to go overboard. Had he told himself to feel a certain way because that was how it was supposed to be? It had been so long ago and Cade was young; he honestly had no idea. With Sara though, he was absolutely certain that that wasn’t the case. Everything felt genuine.
Which is why he felt such the strong need to not scare her away, to not lose her before they even got to know one another. It’d be absolutely awful knowing how great Sara could make you feel, only to have it ripped away. And he was so afraid of that happening. If there weren’t such a stigma around fallen angels, Caden would have no problem telling her what he was. But the second he mentioned it, guaranteed bad thoughts directed his way, because the mindset was that all fallen angels were rotten in some way or another. Once that initial impression was there, it’d be a huge challenge to work past it. And even if Sara – by some miracle – didn’t automatically assume the worse, she’d want to know why he was no longer a guardian angel. And in Cade’s opinion, that could cause a whole new batch of problems. The blonde didn’t want to talk about a girl he had thought he was in love with so many years ago in front of Sara. First off, it still was a tender spot for Cade, no matter how long ago it was. He didn’t want to become moody and upset because of the topic change. It also didn’t seem right to discuss it with Sara. Not yet at least, when they still didn’t know each other. On the other hand, it’d seem odd that Cade was so secretive about the reason he was no longer welcomed in heaven, if it was something Sara wanted to know. With so many problems in that course of action, the only other thing Caden could think of was not telling her, pretending he was a human until she flat out asked, which still wasn’t a great approach. It was basically lying without the intention behind it, and who knew how Sara would take it? He didn’t want to think about this right now; he just wanted to spend time on Sara and keep his focus on her.
Bright blue eyes turned their full attention on the girl, nothing else calling for their attention. “Sara Michaels,” Caden repeated, like he was trying to commit the name to memory. He actually just liked saying her name. It rolled nicely off his tongue. Sara might’ve thought it was boring, but he certainly didn’t think so. “I like it,” he told her, not to make her feel better about her own name, but because he did. The blond continued to repeat the name in his head, putting it with different accents because he enjoyed playing with sounds. Eventually, Cade realized he never answered her original question. “Salvatore,” Cade informed her. “That’s my last name.” Every so often, Cade had to change his last name. He tried to do it every ten to fifteen years, because the less he changed it, the more likely he’d remember it. And it was always the same names, used in rotation. He had to; it’d look weird otherwise. Caden never changed his first named though, simply because he was afraid that he wouldn’t respond to anything else. If it ever got so outdated that it was obvious, then Cade would think about going by something else, but not until then. He was glad that he had chosen to go by his actual last name this time; it was one less half truth to tell Sara.
“I’d love to show you around,” Cade responded, liking the idea of helping someone out. When Cade moved to a new town, he always found the essentials first; the club, the bar, and a place to eat. The rest came after. While he never specifically looked for a book store or the library, he had been dragged there on multiple occasions by Owen. Thank God he had, or Caden wouldn’t be able to tell Sara where either of those two places were, even after living here for two years. Sara kept asking Cade questions that required him to stop and think. Where had he lived before? He honestly couldn’t remember what he had told other people who had asked. That was the problem with lying and the reason Caden tried to avoid it as much as possible; it was too difficult to keep everything straight. Of course, there were things he couldn’t be completely truthful with, but he tried for everything else. “A small town in New Jersey that no one who hasn’t lived has ever heard of,” Cade said finally, hoping that Sara wouldn’t ask what small town because he didn’t have the name for one.

her hand remained on his arm for a few moments longer to help get her point across, before she then released her grip on his arm, in case that should make him uncomfortable. The mermaid remained silent, attempting to still figure out what Cade was. He just had to be a human, that much she was going to assume right now, since he hadn't mentioned to her being a supernatural, so it only made sense. Her thoughts delved into this a bit more, before he suddenly spoke, repeating her full name. God she loved how he said it, made her smile, blush somewhat too. Sara grinned and nodded, "That's me." she paused when he said he liked it, and catching his tone of voice, he meant it by just her name, how he liked it. Her features contorted into a soft laugh, and she mused, "If you do, that's just fine." she winked, "I like your name too..Caden Salvatore." she tried it out on her tongue. Yes, she did like the sound of it, and how it easily flowed off of her tongue and into the atmosphere. How it flowed. It was certainly different, but she didn't mind it, it just added to what made Caden, Caden. Yes, after he had answered her inquiry about his last name, it was obvious to her now that something was bothering him. Call it women's intuition, but Sara definitely knew something was up. Her eyes locked onto the other blonde's for a few moments, silently telling him he could tell her anything and everything, but she wasn't going to push. She didn't find the need to, if she just pushed someone, most of the time they'd just close up and probably never open up to her again. Nevertheless, Sara wasn't one to do that either, just didn't get them anywhere but back to square one. The mermaid could sense the excitement of the street fair as they approached it. All the fun games, the children getting cotton candy, couples going on rides together and everything. She fell closer to Cade - as humanly possible without one of them tripping so that they wouldn't get separated. A soft smile fell onto her lips when she spotted the Ferris Wheel. She'd been on one before in Florida with her father and her step-mother when they first arrived in Florida. Sara hadn't been too excited about moving again, but she adjusted as she always did, and that had been the same place too, that she had met Harry. Nerves got the best of her thinking about him, and her eyes darkened slightly, the emerald hue darkening. Harry was out of her life though and now, even if she didn't really want to admit it, or say it to Cade's face, he was in her life now. And in all reality, Sara really wanted Cade to be in her life. She didn't want him to freak out and run away from her, it was probably - easily - being selfish, but Sara wanted to spend as much time with him as possible. As long as he wanted to do it as well. Blushing softly, the blonde looked to Caden quietly when he spoke about showing her around, and she smiled, "Wonderful." At his comment on the place he had lived before, she laughed lightly - she just couldn't help it. It sounded like the town her grandparents on her father's side had been born into, somewhere in Conneticut that no one knew about unless you lived there, with like a population of less than 2,000 people. Sara mused, "I understand, don't worry...the same thing goes with my dad's parents and where they were born." The mermaid scanned around the street fair quietly, her eyes landing on a place with various fish in smaller bowls for sale. Interesting, but nonetheless it had caught her eye, plus with some random jewelry for men and women carved from things from the sea. Noticing some of the fish just sitting in their bowls, she inquired the vendor when they walked by, "Mind if I ask how you get these fish?" The guy, looking taken back slightly by someone having asked that, cleared his throat before answering, sounding like he was reading from a script, "Sometimes they wind up in my nets when I fish, injured. Other times, like now, they're fish I just can't take care of anymore." The man shrugged and spoke, "For you, you can have one half off." sliding in a weird smile after that comment. Pausing, Sara stepped back towards Cade's side more than she'd thought she did, slipped her arm through his silently, and she smiled softly before answering, "Umm...maybe later." Softly nudging Cade, Sara had them continue on through the street fair and she looked to him quietly, wondering what was going on in his head that seemed to be eating at him. Nonetheless, she inquired, "Anything you'd like to look at, or go on a ride?" [/BLOCKQUOTE][/BLOCKQUOTE][/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TAG icy! Cade hadn’t realized it was so obvious that something was bothering him. It usually wasn’t, but then again, he wasn’t one to worry about things. Once nagging, anxious thoughts started to plague his brain, he pushed them away and pretended they didn’t exist. Caden prided himself on being a generally happy person and didn’t like when he strayed from that. If he let apprehension eat at him, he’d become depressed. It had happened before and it had taken a lot for Cade to get out of that deep ditch. He told himself that wasn’t going to happen again, and here he was, back in the same position to potentially become depressed. The fallen angel had to stop thinking and worrying. Instead, he’d throw all of his attention towards Sara and keep his mind off of other things. “Thanks,” Cade said to Sara’s offer, a light smile on his lips. He wasn’t going to say nothing was bothering him because it’d be a blatant lie, but he also wanted Sara to know he appreciated her offer. He’d take her up on that someday, but not right now at this very moment. The rest of the day, he was going to happy. Cade was going to focus on Sara’s wants and needs and make sure she had a good time.
Somehow, Sara was even prettier when she blushed. Cade hadn’t even realized it was physically possible for her to be more beautiful than she already was, and there she went, proving him wrong. While Cade wasn’t entirely sure what had happened to make her cheeks turn such an appealing pink color, he was ready to try anything to make it happen again. And then she laughed, and it was such a beautiful sound. It was light and musical, like chimes in the wind. Caden found himself wondering how much of that was because she was a mermaid and how much of it was just Sara. Well no, scratch that. Either way, it was just Sara. Her being a mermaid was part of her, yes, but it didn’t completely define her. It was part of who she was, not all of it. He winced, realizing how out of place his surname sounded smashed into an English sentence. “Yeah. My last name is strongly Italian.” When Cade had moved out of Italy, he had given everyone the English sounding version of his last name, trying to downplay his Italian roots. It wasn’t that he was ashamed to be Italian or anything. Hell, he loved claiming that he was full-blooded Italian. The reason he never introduced himself with the Italian pronunciation was because it would only make his name sound more unusual than it already was. An unusual name was much more likely to leave an impression than say, Smith, and leaving a lasting impression was not a wise choice when you lived forever. Even with the English pronunciation, it was still odd. If Cade weren’t so stubborn about keeping his actual surname for as long as possible, then maybe he would fit in better. He’d have to remember that the next time he changed his name.
He still must have appeared obviously worried about something. The look in Sara’s eyes said about as much when they met with his. This was such an odd sensation, thinking about having to hide your emotions. It wasn’t something Cade enjoyed, because he wasn’t that private of a person. He loved being around people, getting to know them, making friends. Caden just didn’t want Sara to worry about him, nor was he particularly ready to share. As a temporary fix, he’d ignore it. All of it. There would be no thoughts about being a supernatural. Just Sara and only Sara. Speaking of his blonde companion, Cade couldn’t keep the smile off his face when Sara took a step closer to him. He would have put his arm around her waist if he didn’t think it was too forward. The fallen angel really wanted to take this slow and do it right. No mess ups if he could help it. Everything was perfect so far and he wasn’t about to let that disappear because he was careless. Because that would be Caden’s luck, for him to ruin things in a blink of an eye. He typically wasn’t unlucky; that chose to happen only when things were going really well for the fallen. It was more of a reality check than anything.
The blonde’s eyes roamed the festival, trying to see all it had to offer. Cade felt completely in his element, surrounded by a crowd of people. He almost didn’t notice that Sara had stopped to talk to a vendor. Already, his attention had been moved off of her. Cade cleared his head and focused on the conversation that Sara was having with the man. Sara and her fish. The thought brought yet another smile to the fallen angel. And though Sara’s side of the conversation was cute, Caden didn’t like the vibes that he was getting from the man. He stared at the vendor while he talked to Sara, giving him a warning look. Had Sara not looped her arm with his, he would’ve put her arm around her waist, forward or not. Cade felt like he should’ve said something to the vendor, but he didn’t want to pick a fight in front of Sara, not if he could help it. Besides, Sara seemed to want to get out of there, and Caden had no argument against it. “Is everything okay?” he asked, referring to the fish and to Sara after the interaction with the creepy vendor. A worried look clouded his eyes, all concern directed her way. He glanced back out at the crowd again, trying to stay aware of their surroundings. All of his attention was turned back to Sara when she asked what he wanted to do. “It’s all up to you. You’re the one who’s new to here,” Cade said. He wasn’t trying to be a pain; he just wanted to make sure that they did something that Sara would have fun doing.

to know what his smile could do. God she loved it though. She wanted to see more of it. It made it seem like it wasn't quite as chilly as it was - though it was already starting to turn to spring, one of her favorite times of the year, excluding summer because she could practically live in the ocean for weeks at a time without needing to worry about classes or something. Grinning and feeling like a young girl, Sara heard his response and she nodded, reaffirming, "I mean it...anytime." a gentle look fell on the mermaid's features. As they continued to walk away together, and away from that creepy vendor, Sara shivered it off, allowing herself to just mold into the norm, and letting herself just enjoy this time with Cade. Too much, but she didn't care. She really did like him, and loved this time with him. Sara grinned shyly at that thought, well - she did, and she certainly didn't mind saying that aloud, only though if Cade asked her outright though. She wasn't one to always express things, especially if she feared for ramifications, like she did with this certain thought. The mermaid sighed in content. That was one word she didn't fling around a lot, especially when it came to her and other people. Content, sure, but happy was a better word. She really did like this with Cade, and it felt so...natural, and complete. Like she had been meant to do this. Blushing at this thought, hardly realizing she was blushing, Sara looked to Caden when he spoke about his last name, and she paused, before grinning weakly and mused, "I'm sorry, I probably don't do your name much justice without any Italian in my voice." she smiled lightly, letting him know she was just playing, but it was true. The Italian was clearly evident in his name, even Caden sounded Italian, though don't quote her on that, since she wasn't sure about that, she blamed her Dad, he was pure American and her mother well...pure mermaid, though her father, Sara's grandfather was from the Mediterranean, so what-ever country he'd come from then, that's what Sara most likely was a mixture of, that and Dutch. Brushing back her hair slightly, she then reached into her pocket with her hand that wasn't linked with Cade's arm, and with a practiced hand, the blonde tucked her bangs up back with a bobby pin, keeping them neatly out of her features. Green eyes landed on Cade's blue ones, and she mused softly, "Do you miss your old town compared to this bigger city or no?" Her eyes landed on his for a brief moment as they left that vendor, her eyes landed on the nearby ocean, and a smile fell along her features before she could stop it. Maybe when it got warmer, she could take Cade out into the ocean with her, she knew if she got a witch to give them a potion, or just give him a tank, he could stay down in the water with her. Smiling at this thought, Sara looked to Cade quietly and inquired, her voice not betraying - hopefully not - her ideas in the future, "Do you like to swim?" her sing-song voice inquired lightly, as she couldn't help but grin lightly, and added before he could answer, "Just purely curious." Then his inquiry about her being all right, and everything being okay. Pausing, her eyes flicked back to the vendor who had watched them for a moment before returning to his work, and she shivered, shaking the feeling off and she responded, nodding reassuringly, "Y-yeah...it's all good." For now, she internally added. All Sara knew that if the chance ever rose, she'd grab those fish and take them back out to the ocean where they should be. She wouldn't spend money on them to take them...actually, she would. Mentally running over the amount of cash she had, she added, "Yeah...it's okay...just getting rid of the heebie-jeebies." she reassured him, giving his arm a gentle squeeze to reinforce that. Sara's attention remained solely on Cade, trusting him enough for them not to run into something inanimate, which would be her luck if she didn't fully pay attention. Though if she were to run into something just because she was too busy looking to Cade, that would be perfectly all right with her, she'd go days without swimming if it meant she could be with him all those days. A smile fell on her features at this, before she looked around as he spoke about it being up to her. Never one to fight, Sara scanned the random vendors nonchalantly, before pointing towards the rides and such, "Those? I've actually...never been on a Ferris Wheel before..." she admitted, grinning weakly, and added, "Oh...and...if we see something from up there, I want to show you something." she grinned. Would Cade like the boat? She hoped so, that would be a fun weekend thing - her and her planning. Already making plans to see him again, would he take her up on that? Hope wedged itself into her eyes, the mermaid not realizing it as she looked to him quietly, then back to the line they had fallen into for the wheel, the blonde looked to the blonde next to her, and felt the blush daring to creep up onto her again, fortunately it didn't reach her cheeks, just her neck slightly before she managed to keep it down, not wanting to blush too much and feel like she was in middle school in Washington again. "So then, Cade..." she smiled weakly, eying him curiously, wanting to know as much about him as he was willing to share, "Do you go to the college here then? Well...one of the two?" Sara didn't care which one, but she was just curious, wondering if she'd ever seen him around campus before. God she felt so lucky just to be right here with Cade. It felt...nice. She felt so happy too, it was amazing, and she wanted to hold onto that as long as she could - without being too weird. Wrinkling her nose slightly at that, Sara spoke, unable to hide the smile in her voice, "Can I pay for my ticket?" She was one who was always willing to pay for herself, but to her right now, she suddenly realized, she didn't care about anything else, just Cade, and if he was happy, and their time together... The blonde really wished Sara would stop saying that he could tell her anything. It wasn’t that he didn’t appreciate her offer. In fact, Cade couldn’t even put into words how good that offer made him feel. He was pretty sure that never once in his life had anyone said something even close to that to him. Cade figured that it was because people always thought that things couldn’t bother him. He was much too happy all the time, always thinking about other people. Everyone just assumed that he was never bothered by anything. To be completely fair though, Caden always put up that front, always pretended that he wasn’t worried. Hell, he might’ve even started to believe it himself. And the fallen angel wasn’t so sure why Sara had been able to recognize that something was eating at him, but she had, and it was nice knowing he could count on her to talk. But the fact that Cade wasn’t ready to talk, was too willing to hold back, made him feel horrible. Like he wasn’t good enough for Sara. Already, he was starting to think that, even after only spending the morning with her. How could he justify stealing more of the mermaid’s time, already knowing that? And yet, Caden was going to do just that.
He smiled when Sara mentioned the fact that she didn’t have an Italian accent so she couldn’t pronounce his surname right. “It’s perfectly fine. Kind of prefer it that way.” The young man couldn’t count how many people had butchered his name because they pretended to speak Italian. Or at least have the Italian accent. It always made Caden cringe slightly, hating that not only did people think they were doing an okay job at pronouncing it, but also the fact that he felt like he was sticking out like a sore thumb. He respected that Sara had just said his last name the way she knew she could instead of trying to fake an accent. It was a breath of fresh air, to say the least. But Cade could also say that it showed so much about Sara’s character. She was a genuine person. Sara was Sara. She didn’t conform to other people’s ideas or how they expected her to act. It seemed like too many girls were that way in this day and age. Scratch that. Girls had been like that since Cade had started dating back in the 1920s. There was always a mold for girls to fit into. That was how “perfectness” was judged. And girls who decided to not follow that path were rare. Here Caden was, standing with a girl who wasn’t going to shove herself into a stupid old mold anyway, and she was still perfect. The intensity of that thought, of Sara being perfect, was so strong that Cade was slightly surprised he had thought it. He meant it though, with every fiber of his being.
“No,” Cade answered, probably quicker than expected. It was true. He didn’t miss that stupid small town. He didn’t miss anywhere he lived, except for Italy when he had been living there with his family. The young Salvatore didn’t ever feel connected to the various places that he lived in. They were never home to him. Sure, Caden met people that became some of his greatest friends, people who he loved like family, but they never actually were. He figured that was what he needed, something permanent surrounded by people he loved. Because when Cade moved, he never expected it to last; it was always temporary, until he began to look too young for the part he was playing. “What about you? Do you miss wherever you lived before here? We somehow skipped that little fact of information, your previous hometown.” He laughed when she asked about him swimming. It was like playing twenty questions or something, but Caden didn’t mind. Not as long as she didn’t ask a certain question. “Let’s put it this way. I know how to swim, but it’s not all that graceful.” Cade couldn’t help but cringe slightly when he said that, a light grin toying with his lips. The mental image of him swimming wasn’t a very pretty one, but he’d be willing to go swimming with Sara as long as she could deal with his slight floundering.
When Sara had said that she had never ridden on a Ferris Wheel, Caden was honestly surprised. How had she not been on one before? It was a one of a kind experience, and one that just about everyone had. “It’d be wrong for me to deny you of that experience,” he said, his arm that was linked with Sara’s pulling her a slight bit closer. Cade wanted to unlink arms, simply so he could slip his around her waist. He wasn’t sure what kept urging him to have her closer to him, but it was there. And after a slight hesitation, the fallen angel did untwine his arm from Sara’s, only to place it around her waist a second later. The touch was light, one that said that if Sara wanted to, she could step away. Caden wasn’t forcing her into anything that she was uncomfortable with; he refused to push her. If Sara stepped away, then his feelings wouldn’t be hurt – mostly – because he’d understand that he was moving too fast. Or that he had completely misinterpreted everything so far.
So Cade had lied. There were two questions he didn’t want Sara to ask. One was very obviously what he was. But the second was about college. “Ah, I don’t go to college,” Caden said self-consciously, rubbing the back of his neck and glancing away, clearly embarrassed. Unlike other immortal creatures that Cade had met, he didn’t continue to go to college and learn different things. He honestly wasn’t one of those people who wanted to spend eternity in school. Not to say that he didn’t attend college every so often; Caden had originally studied as an engineer and as things changed, he went back to school. It was such a pain to forge all the transcripts and paperwork to get into college that he didn’t want to bother if it wasn't necessary. He went back every ten to fifteen years as things changed so he could stay current, but didn't go overboard. Cade had hated school the first time he went through it, so why would he continuously put himself through it. But now, saying that he didn’t go to college, made him feel like a lazy slacker bum, someone who clearly wasn’t worthy of having this beautiful girl standing next to him. The fallen angel really hoped that Sara’s opinion of him didn’t plummet, but he wouldn’t blame her if it did. “Are you enjoying college?” he asked in a lame attempt to get the focus off of him.

she smiled weakly, it was true though. She did like it. Swapping back to just her normal voice, Sara added, "I bet it's...interesting when people force an accent onto it...." ugh, she could only imagine. Squeezing his arm in a reassuring manner, the blonde's attention faltered from Cade for a few moments as some rowdy boys, probably their age or so then rushed by them, one of them knocking into Sara into Cade and another couple behind them. Thank goodness that couple didn't have a child with them, or else Sara would had to have gone after them. Narrowing her eyes in displeasure, green eyes locked onto Cade's blue ones. God they were gorgeous. She wondered silently if he had any idea as to what those eyes could to to her. Mild surprise fell on her features at the sudden response Cade had given to her inquiry. So he didn't really seem to like his last place he lived, that small unnamed town. Well - she could understand, she did love Florida, but she hated the town, though her hate just built up even more after the "Harry incident." Flinching away from that thought, hardly realizing she had, Sara heard Cade speak once more. About her last place(s) she had lived. Pausing, her mind flew back to where she'd been before. The mermaid looked to Cade quietly, silently reminding herself this was now. Now she was right here in the fair, with Cade. Someone she was really beginning to like - a lot. "Palm Coast, Florida before I came here....lived about two blocks from the ocean." she grinned in memory of that place, and how welcomed she felt when she joined there. Joining the cheerleading team probably helped too. Laughing softly, she then added, "Palm Coast was where I fell in love with cheer leading, haven't done it since high school." she smiled fondly, "Then before Palm Coast, I lived in Seattle, Washington, we moved to Florida awhile after..." she paused, looking away for a moment, hardly realizing she'd started rambling, then decided to just go ahead and finish it off, "Sorry...was I talking your ear off?" an uneasy smile fell on her features before adding, "After...well....my dad married my step-mom." she eyed her blonde boyfr companion quietly, smothering that the moment she realized she had imagined that. Calm down now, she told herself silently. It did make her curious about Cade's family though, wondered what they were like, or, what they had been like. Did he have any siblings? Hesitating, she then inquired, "Any siblings? And no, no worries about your swimming." Staying close to Cade, Sara was careful with her words and questions. She hated to think of the idea of possibly scaring Cade away. That was the last thing in her life she wanted to do. It was just too...wonderful with him. Blushing softly at that thought when she registered it, she eyed him keenly and grinned at his response of her never riding a Ferris Wheel before. Eyes landed on the massive ride silently, watching how it worked, all the mechanics and such necessary to make it work. Suddenly, something she hadn't been expecting happened. Sara didn't mind it - but it surprised her. Somehow she'd gotten closer - probably by Cade's doing - and his arm had then lightly coiled around his waist, silently telling her without words, she could pull away if she wanted. Well - she didn't. That much was simple, without even thinking for another moment, her own arm wrapped itself neatly around Cade's waist back, drawing them close and therefore they wouldn't need to worry about being separated as easily unless someone worked at trying to do that. They approached the massive Ferris Wheel when Cade scratched the back of his neck. An antic of his that made her smile, and grin a variant of the grin girls had for something adorable. A variant of course, since she can't quite label what she thought that was, but it was along the lines of absolutely cute. Didn't go to college? Was he ashamed of saying that? Her mother really hadn't officially gone, due to her and then going back to her underwater world. She - as far as Sara knew - was doing just fine. Cade seemed to be too. As far as she knew. She wouldn't judge though, it wasn't her place, and it didn't change what she thought about him. She still did like him, whether or not he had something on his wall or not. Cade was Cade and nothing would change what she thought about him already, unless it was some drastic, like...she wasn't sure. She knew deep down she wouldn't change what she thought about him. Her face probably betrayed what she was thinking, which was - acceptance, she'd accept Cade either way. They approached the entrance to where they could board, while the person told them to wait for the next available seat spot. The seats were the circular ones, with a small roof, which would still let them see the sky and such, as well as the marina which Sara knew by instinct was nearby. Almost jumping up and down in excitement, she did catch his inquiry. "I do like it..." her voice faded, pursing her lips in slight thought, "It's not what my parents told me it would be like...it's better, much more fun than I anticipated." she grinned lightly, before nodding and smiling politely to the man and woman who were directing the wheel, loading people on and such. Sitting down smoothly in the seats, Sara lightly patted the area next to her, feeling like she was smiling too much. Was she? She wouldn't dare ask. Realizing she'd actually sunk closer to Cade when he sat down, she hoped he didn't mind, if he did, he could move if he wanted. Sara looked to him and then spoke as they started to move slightly, "How about this...maybe you can ask me questions now...and I ask later? Or just keep throwing them out there as they come?" [/BLOCKQUOTE][/BLOCKQUOTE][/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TAG icy! The English accent? Completely adorable. He wasn’t sure where Sara had picked it up or if she had learned it somewhere, but it was cute. “That’s a nice accent you have going there,” Caden commented. He had always envied people who could just pick up accents like they had spoken them their whole life. Caden knew that he had the Italian accent down – that’s what he had grown up knowing. The blonde had also spent quite a few years in England, while watching over a charge, and he had tried to pick up the accent. He mostly had that down, but it wasn’t perfect yet. Luckily, Cade had been able to downplay his Italian accent, giving himself more of an American spin on his words. It helped him fit in. That was about it. While Caden couldn’t speak all that many different accents, he could think thoughts in them. It was a weird concept, but, well Cade could be an odd guy. “But thanks.” Though exotic wasn’t exactly what he was aiming for; it was harder to blend in. Then again, what did he expect to happen when he chose to keep his given surname? He was just too stubborn though. Oh well. Then came the comment about people butchering it and Caden couldn’t help but wince a little bit. “It’s absolutely dreadful,” the fallen angel agreed. Just because it was Italian didn’t mean it needed to be pronounced with that accent, especially if you didn’t have one.
When the guys bumped into Sara, Cade couldn’t help but send a glare this way, only after looking over Sara to make sure everything was okay. He wanted to go over to them, make them apologize for bumping into her, but didn’t want to cause a scene and make Sara uncomfortable. That would only be counterproductive. “I’m sorry for humankind,” Cade apologized in a serious tone. Not that it was just humans; supernatural could be rowdy and annoying as well. They just seemed to be human. Caden couldn’t understand why people – especially guys – felt the need to act like that. They could be at least a tiny bit considerate. Had Cade acted like that, his mother would’ve hit him upside the head. There was no reason to be rude. Ever. Instead of letting himself get upset over that one incident though, Cade focused all his attention on the pretty blonde next to him. Those stupid young men weren’t going to ruin this time he had with her. Since all his attention was on her, Caden had caught the flinch when he asked her about her hometown. He wondered what had caused it, but didn’t ask. Whatever it was, Sara would share if she felt like it. He just wished that there hadn’t been a reason for her to flinch.
“It sounds like a beautiful place,” Cade remarked. It was obvious the blonde was in love with the place. “Wouldn’t take you for a cheerleader,” the fallen angel teased, though he was partly serious. He hadn’t had much experience with them himself, but pop culture always portrayed cheerleaders as slutty, stupid, evil girls. Three categories that Sara didn’t fall into. She was far from them. “You weren’t” Caden argued when Sara mentioned that she was talking too much. “I like hearing about you.” It was much more interesting than Cade blabbing on about himself. That would be boring. It’d probably put Sara to sleep. Because while Caden had been alive – or semi alive or whatever you wanted to classify it as when one was an angel – he hadn’t done much. There hadn’t been exciting adventures or experiences. Wasn’t much to talk about. He’d much rather hear little facts about Sara. She was so much more interesting, and he wanted to know more. But now Sara was back to asking questions about him. Why was she so fascinated by his boring life? “Two sisters,” Cade said as a response, trying to avoid saying anything in the present tense because it would be lying and also trying to keep himself from using the past tense to indicate that they were deceased. This whole ‘say as little as possible’ stint was becoming ridiculous. He should just come clean. “What about you? Siblings?”
The blonde was pleasantly surprised when his companion put her arm around his waist as well. Caden wasn’t entirely sure what response he had thought he would receive, but he had hoped it’d be something like this. He tightened his grip then, preferring that over the very light lay of his arm. Cade wanted Sara close to him. It was such an odd feeling that he couldn’t put it into words. It honestly wasn’t in a sexual way, like most people automatically assumed about guys. He just liked the feeling of Sara being by his side, of him being lucky enough to have that. The fallen angel didn’t deserve it. He knew he didn’t. Especially when he had glanced at Sara’s face after mentioning that he wasn’t going to college and all he saw there was acceptance. She was much too good a person. That thought was pushed out of his head by Sara answering his question, keeping the young man from feeling depressed. He needed the distraction and was thankful for it. “That’s good. What made you choose to go to college all the way out here?” Caden asked, trying to keep himself from thinking of anything but Sara.
Cade followed Sara onto the Ferris Wheel like a diligent puppy. He took the seat next to her that she had offered him, lightly putting his arm across her shoulders. The Ferris Wheel lurched into motion and Caden found himself looking out at the fair, waiting for the point when they’d be at the top and everything would look ten times smaller. His focus was brought back to Sara when she asked how their conversation should continue. “Let’s just let it flow naturally,” he suggested. It had been going pretty well so far, following that method. God, she was beautiful. Caden found himself grinning the stupid grin guys got when they realized the girl sitting next to them was completely amazing and were wondering what they ever did to have that happen. He had to tell her the truth about what he was; there was no way it would be fine for him to not be completely honest with her. So Cade was going to make yet another cowardly decision and tell her while they were on the Ferris Wheel. Why was that a spineless way to go about things? Because Sara would have to hear him out; they’d be stuck in this seat until the ride stopped. The blonde removed his arm from around Sara’s shoulders, just in case what he said made her uncomfortable and she didn’t want him touching her. Caden took a deep breath and glanced back out at the fair, noting how pretty it was, but nowhere near worthy of a comparison to Sara’s beauty. His blue eyes met her’s and in a rush, he blurted the truth. “I’m a fallen angel.” He looked away then and resisted the urge to scratch his neck again, a telltale sign that he was embarrassed. “I promise…what I did to get kicked out of heaven…it wasn’t evil. It was just…stupid.” The haste that the explanation came out probably made him sound horrible guilty and Caden found himself glancing at his feet, kind of hoping he’d just disappear.
Note: They are just too cute to bear <3 I really wanted to use the word 'lily-livered' instead of cowardly, but I didn't feel like it'd fit. What a fun word though.

she tucked a random piece of hair behind her ear, mainly to try and divert her attention for a moment from Cade's piercing blue eyes so she could re-group herself. The mermaid's attention rarely wavered from the blonde with her, wanting to know everything about him that he was willing to share. She wouldn't push - especially if it should come to something Cade wasn't ready to share. She understood, that was probably why. Sara had some dark secrets in her past she wasn't ready to share with him yet either, especially the whole Harry thing, causing her to shake her head slightly, which seemed to be just in sync with when the guys had bumped into her. She didn't mind - they were going to be idiots tomorrow, that's what her step-mom said a lot, that there was nothing they could do but just hope they lived to see their next birthday. The mermaid shook her head gently, "No, you don't need to apologize for them, they'll be like that tomorrow." she flashed a reassuring grin. He'd group himself into humankind it seemed like, or was he just saying that for the ones who weren't like her, just - normal? God she wished she could be normal. She wondered how Cade felt being normal when he was probably surrounded by supernaturals most of the time when he wasn't in his place or where-ever he may work. What-ever he did. That made her curious. What did he do? Pausing, she inquired, "Don't answer if you don't want but...I'm curious...what do you do?" Meaning, like what he did on days, for example, not like this where Sara would love it if she could spend most of the day with him. Of course not holding him hostage, no, that was way too weird, but as long as she could, she'd treasure every moment. Every moment with Cade felt like a century, and she liked it like that, made time go by slower, though when she did think about it, time seemed to fly by with him, something that got her slightly worried nonetheless. Cade interrupted her thoughts, which she was thankful for. He'd caught her in her train of thought which was probably going to get a little bumpy should she have been allowed to continue on with that. It was times like those, like these with Cade that made Sara so relieved she had moved here for college and brought her houseboat with her too. Looking to Cade, she laughed shortly when he mentioned of her being a cheerleader. Well, they all broke stereotypes. Sara had depicted Cade to be the type that maybe enjoyed breaking girls' hearts, or at least not committing to anything to save his life. He certainly broke that, hadn't he. Or maybe she was being naive. Or maybe not. Shaking those thoughts away, Sara commented, "Yeah...it was beautiful down there...as for being a cheerleader, I happened to be Captain." she smiled sheepishly, "It's good to break the mold of the typical sometimes." Cade argued. Oh this could get fun. Sometimes guys - and girls too - would let the other one walk all over them. Cade seemed like he'd be the type who could not only make a girl swoon for him with his smile, but also that he did put up a fight sometimes, a little feisty. Yes, she thought to herself. Cade just seemed too perfect, and she squeezed her arm slightly that was around him, as if to reassure herself he wasn't going to disappear. He was really here. And she really had this good of luck. "Nope, no siblings. Just me." she sighed, "They younger or older?" Sara could only imagine what he'd be like if he had younger sisters. Most likely the protective older brother type who would look out for his younger sisters, or the younger brother who would get picked on - sometimes - by his older sisters, but also helped them out when they needed it. Either situation she enjoyed thinking of, since she could see either one panning out for Cade. They were on the Wheel when she answered about college, "Umm...not entirely sure." she admitted and laughed. "One I guess...is that they have a nice Marine Biology undergraduate program." she shrugged, "Offered me a scholarship, so that helped a lot with my decision too. Plus that I could bring my boat here with me too." She grinned fondly, she loved the houseboat, and she was excited to show Cade it. As the two of them settled down onto the seats in the Ferris Wheel, Sara smiled sheepishly, feeling like she was just smiling too much, though Cade didn't seem to mind it. And god, when he flashed that smile towards her, she could have melted right into his arms. It was wonderful, and she was personally surprised Cade was actually...here. Settled in, the mermaid's green gaze met that of Cade's bright blue one, and then he stated something - more of blurted something she really hadn't been expecting, "I'm a fallen angel." Her initial thought was, that made sense, he was absolutely perfect, but then the fallen part sunk in, and she leaned up, sitting so she was positioned and facing him perfectly, eyes locking onto his as he continued to speak, explaining why he'd been kicked out of heaven, for the stupid reason, so to speak. Her mind began to whirl, as confusion set into her features, though she tried to figure it out, which also probably showed itself on her face. So, he was a fallen, and had been made one due to...whatever this stupid reason was. What was it? "Can...I ask what it was?" Though instead of anger, or betrayal, which she felt none of - somehow - Sara felt - confused, but not hurt in any way, and - curious. Yes, curiosity set in. What did that mean then? Cade was Cade. Just being what he was...but he was a supernatural. That's why he didn't freak when her tail had sprouted. He was like her! Excitement poured into her being, though as she looked down, before realizing Cade too had looked down to his feet. Leaning close, her motherliness coming out, the blonde lightly cupped his chin with her fingers and lifted his head so her eyes could meet his, "What....does that mean?" she inquired, tilting her head, figuring he'd know what she meant. It didn't mean about like what a fallen angel was exactly, the name said it all. But, if that would change anything for them. Not that she was saying there was something, but that if he was going to change his mind, and she - even though she'd never admit it - was scared to death of the idea of losing him. Feeling the atmosphere change slightly as they moved up and around in the Ferris Wheel, it felt like they were in their own little world. Just Sara and Cade. Silently, looking to his hands, her own hands reached out, and coiled her fingers around his, attempting to soothe his nerves, since he seemed pretty...uneasy. Brushing some of his blonde hair aside, Sara spoke softly, her voice barely above a whisper, "It...doesn't matter to me what you are Cade...if you were a werewolf, that's okay." she sighed, and lifted her gaze to meet his, "It's just that..." she eyed him fondly, "I appreciate it...you telling me." she nodded lightly, her leg setting up on the seat she was on so she could easily face Cade, but still be close to him. "It...doesn't change how I feel about you." [/BLOCKQUOTE][/BLOCKQUOTE][/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TAG icy! Cade shrugged when Sara asked him about his typical day; it was just as boring as the rest of his life. “I’ve picked up a couple part-time jobs, so if I’m not at one of them, then I’m playing my Xbox or hanging with friends.” He sounded like such a lazy person. He didn’t go to college, didn’t do much with his life. There were so many immortals that looked down on him for it. They were the ones who thought that he should be out, doing anything and everything to stop evil from winning the war. But as horrible as it sounded, he didn’t want to get involved. Sure, things would be bad if the dark side had won, but it wouldn’t affect him all that much. Caden would much rather have a good time than deal with that. And there might’ve been a small part of the fallen angel that said he wasn’t supposed to be good. That had been why he was kicked out of heaven, wasn’t it? “I’m boring. I’m sure whatever you do outside of college is much more interesting.” And Cade knew it would be, even if he didn’t know what it was. He smiled at Sara’s remark of breaking the mold. “I don’t think you ever fit into a mold.” As rude as the comment sounded, it wasn’t meant to be. Caden thought that Sara was much too original to ever be a copy of someone. He couldn’t begin to imagine why she’d ever want to try to be like someone else. Sara was absolutely and simply amazing.
“You’re an only child?” Cade asked, partly not believing it. All only children that Caden had met were bratty. Correction, most of them. But even the ones that weren’t were slightly selfish. Their thought process usually began and ended with what would benefit them the most. And here Sara was, yet again proving the stereotypes wrong. She was possibly the sweetest person that the fallen had ever met. Sara was so generous and caring, always worrying about the other person. Or that had been the impression Caden had gotten from her. He wasn’t even aware of the fact that someone could be like that when they hadn’t grown up with siblings. Cade had just kind of assumed a personality time like that came from having siblings. It would seem that a whole bunch of Cade’s thinking was backwards. “I’m the youngest,” he said in response to Sara’s questions. “I used to be tortured by them when we were kids.” They were the type of sisters who were best friends – practically inseparable – and they used to gang up on their younger brother all the time. The blonde couldn’t even begin to count how many times he had been forced into dresses or had make up painted all over his face. The only thing he could say to defend himself was that he at least made a rather pretty girl. Not that he really wanted to know that information, nor know it first hand.
She wasn’t horrified of what Caden was. Not even a little bit. Unless Sara was good at hiding what she was actually feeling, but she didn’t strike him as the type of person who made it a habit to hide their emotions. Sara just looked…curious. And it was much more than Cade could’ve wished for. There was a bubble full of possibility and hope growing in him, erasing any and all reservations he had had. And then came the question of what he had done, which caused everything to come to a screeching halt. What was he supposed to tell her? That he had fallen in love with someone, and then things didn’t go as planned? That he was seriously beginning to believe that it actually hadn’t been love? As lame as all that sounded, it was the truth and it was exactly what Caden was going to tell Sara. He was tired of half-truths. “I thought I had fallen in love with a human in the early 60’s.” The fallen angel’s face darkened considerably and the pain was evident. It might’ve happened almost half a century ago, but it still hurt to think about it. “I’m realizing now, though, that I wasn’t really in love.” Cade’s blue eyes met Sara’s quickly before looking away. He couldn’t rightfully tell the blonde that it was because of her that he was reconsidering his past. It was much too sudden for that, and Caden didn’t want to scare Sara away. She was already absorbing so much and he didn’t want to push her over the edge.
His eyes met Sara’s again when she lifted his chin up. Cade wanted to know what she was thinking, what was going through her mind at this very moment. Then Sara asked what it meant and Caden was at a loss. “I guess it means whatever you want it to,” he answered, unsure of what else to say. Because that was what it came down to. Now that Sara knew what he was, she could make an informed decision. It was all up to her, and whatever she decided, Cade would respect. His eyes probably conveyed how much he hoped that this wasn’t just an act, that she truly accepted him. It felt like Sara did, especially when she twined their fingers together. And then she completely confirmed that it hadn’t changed anything. The blonde wanted to ask how she felt about him, but couldn’t form the words for it. In fact, he couldn’t even think coherently. Caden felt like he was being overtaken by emotion – as lame as it sounded – and just acted. His hand went to Sara’s cheek lightly. There was a moment or two of a pause, before his lips met hers and Cade felt a moment of pure bliss. And slowly, reality began to catch up with the fallen and he dropped his hand and pulled away. His eyes anxiously searched Sara’s, hoping he hadn’t made a huge mistake. What the hell was he thinking?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - she smiled lightly, inviting him back on another date, since she knew that had already planned like two. The mermaid listened to his comments gently and shook her head, "Nay, just as long as you have fun with what you do. As for me, I'm either at school, work, hanging with friends or swimming." she smiled sheepishly. It was true though. Most of her Saturdays were devoted to swimming in the ocean a lot, and sometimes going to visit a cousin she had found in a nearby town underwater. Then Saturday nights she'd come and hang with friends, or now, Sara would be more than happy to change up her Saturdays to be able to happily spend them with Cade. Hell, she'd skip school to spend a day with him. The surprise looked cute on Cade, then again, every look looked adorable on him, though she wouldn't use that word to his face, it was what she used in her decisions. "Yeah...sometimes I liked it, other times I didn't." she shrugged lightly, and gave Cade a sympathetic smile when he mentioned being the youngest. Ugh, she could only imagine if she was the youngest out of three, with her luck it would have been boys too, and they would have been - with her luck again - the type who would want to know all about Cade to deem him ok for their baby sister. Another moment where she was glad about not having siblings. A hand raised to graze against the pearl necklace around her neck as they sat on the Ferris Wheel together now. Her hands intertwined with his, it would be hard to find someone's fingers if someone were to look at them, and Sara was pretty glad it was only them around, just them in their own little world. What she liked most too, was how when she was with Cade, all her worries and such just faded away till it was just him and her there in their own little bubble. Though as her mind began to work, the bubble freaked and seemed to shrink, closing in on Sara - mentally of course. Cade was a fallen, that meant he had to have done something horrible, right? But he seemed so wonderful, scratch that, he was wonderful and Sara couldn't imagine him doing anything wrong with his life. Absolutely nothing wrong. The mermaid tilted her head slightly, feeling some of her hair escape the hold of her shoulders and fall in front of them, her green eyes watching the gorgeous blue ones of Cade. They reminded her of an ocean after a storm, wonderfully blue and brilliant, she couldn't really compare them to anything else, and she wouldn't dare. To compare them to something else would destroy just how gorgeous they were. Her mind then wrapped around his comment, fallen in love with a human? Sara was human - mostly. Did that change this? No Sara, she warned herself, don't over-analyze anything now. She just had to take his word for it, but her worrying was halted when he added he now knew he wasn't in love. God, so he was basically cheated out of his wings? Sadness overwhelmed her for a moment for him, before both sadness and then - whatever else she was feeling. She couldn't describe it. Sara scowled slightly, not at Cade, just in general as her mind began to piece things together. It did make sense now, then - was it true, he had those scars from his wings? She opened her mouth to ask that, but refused, her thumb, she then realized, was running along the back of Cade's hand, telling her he was still there and not just some figment of her imagination. If that were true, she'd go check herself into a mental ward. Sara knew it wasn't, she told herself. Cade was so real, much more real to her than anything right now in their own little world they had been brought into. Of course, she thought, an exasperated sigh escaping her lips. Whatever she took it to be? Eying Caden quietly, Sara answered, "It is to me...what it is to you. It hasn't changed anything for me....how I feel about you." she admitted, glancing away for a moment, hoping to get the blushing under control. Okay, she did really like Cade. Really liked him, and she was scared of that, but at the same time, she was so ready to just dive in without thinking it was amazing. The rush. It was nothing like she'd ever - his hand touched her cheek. Her thoughts slammed to a stop causing them to fall over each other. Sara felt like she was in one of those movies, but no, this was real life, and her thoughts suddenly just went on pause the moment their lips touched. God this rush was even better! The bliss abruptly ended after a moment when Cade suddenly pulled away, his hand along leaving, disappearing. Her hands instinctively tightened around the one she had been holding onto slightly, a worried look falling on her face, had she done something wrong? Then she saw it in his eyes, no - he thought he had done something wrong. Smiling weakly, Sara dropped her leg and sat next to Cade, green eyes meeting blue ones and she spoke, suddenly feeling bold, a random bold streak she got once in awhile, "You okay?" she asked, realizing how dumb that probably sounded. Shaking her head, Sara then cupped Cade's chin with her hand once more, giving him a soft-stern look, as if for him to tell her what was going on, before she - she wanted to try it again. The mermaid paused, before then grinning weakly, and soon - returning the kiss. She gave him a smooth peck, and drew away, though still remaining in close contact with Cade, not wanting to be too far from him if she could help it. "I...really like you Cade..." she confessed. No way would she say anything else but that for now, as it was too early, and she was definitely not scaring him away. "It doesn't bother me that you're a fallen, you're still...Cade." she added, giving him a weak grin. Oh yes, kissing him was definitely something she was going to get addicted to. It was going to be something she figured she would want to do when-ever she felt like it, especially if it felt like that all the time. She had a strong feeling it would. Squeezing his hands lightly, Sara looked up to wonderful Cade, thinking, wondering how ever she deserved this, but she was so happy. Pure bliss. Sara was already planning more dates. It was amazing, how quickly the two seemed to connect. Caden knew that, logically, things were happening quickly. Hell, they had only met yesterday, woke up in the same bed this morning. And they were now getting to know each other. What a backwards approach. And yet, it didn’t feel fast at all. Cade felt like he had known Sara for forever, even if it had been less than twenty four hours. It had never happened before and Caden found himself wondering what made Sara so special. But he didn’t ponder that thought too long; who cared what was different this time? All that mattered was that it was different and he liked it. “Either’s fine with me. Whenever you’re free.” Cade was sure that he couldn’t keep the happiness out of his voice. There wasn’t even a reason to try so he didn’t, but even if he had felt the need to, he doubted it would be possible. Sara just put him in such a good mood and it was impossible to pretend otherwise. A word quickly flittered through Cade’s mind, one that he had heard kicked around but didn’t believe. Soulmate. The whole notion was ridiculous. It was improbable to find that one person out there who was right for you. In the off chance that it did exist, then he was sure that that was what he and Sara were. There was very little in the way of other explanations.
His mind focused back on the conversation, pushing all thoughts of soulmates out of his head. There was no reason for that idea to be taking up space. “I couldn’t imagine growing up as an only child.” His house was always full of so much energy. Too many things were going on at once to concentrate on all of them and while things might’ve been hectic, at least it was always entertaining. Truth be told, he hated living alone in his apartment. Hated the silence. There was always a radio or TV blaring somewhere in simply because he was much too used to living with noise. Silence was scary. “I don’t know how you survived,” Cade commented with a slightly lopsided smile. Of course, for Sara, growing up as an only child was completely normal. Had his family still been around now, they’d probably frighten her off with their loudness and chaos. It was completely overwhelming if you weren’t already used to it. Again, Caden noticed Sara touched her pearl necklace and he was curious as to why she kept doing that, what the necklace meant to her. He wouldn’t pry though; who knew what he’d dig up that Sara didn’t want him to know. If she ever felt inclined to explain the meaning behind her gesture, then Cade would be all ears.
The fallen angel did really enjoy being on the Ferris Wheel with Sara, liked believing that they were in their own bubble for a little while. Completely separate from the other riders and festival goers. He felt as if this was perfect for them – being separated from the massive group of people – simply because they didn’t matter right now. This was between him and her with very little need of other people. And it kept the whole thing from feeling casual, almost like a joke. The air between the two blondes was intense, but it somehow seemed better than it would’ve been had they have gone anywhere else. Caden watched the mermaid’s long hair slip past her shoulder and he reached out with the hand that she wasn’t holding to push it back behind her ears. There was no reason to hide such a pretty face. His hand might have lingered for a moment or two more than necessary, and Cade self-consciously smiled before returning his arm to his side. He had to stop doing that, stop assuming that Sara was okay with something because he was. Forcing his opinion upon her wasn’t going to help either of them in the long run.
Cade caught her scowl, unsure of what it was directed towards. He would give anything to be a mind reader right now just so he could know what Sara was thinking. Those Immortals were one lucky species. He really wasn’t all that jealous, actually. He didn’t want to be able to read everyone’s mind, nor would he feel particularly comfortable with reading Sara’s. Caden just wished he could know what Sara was thinking so he wouldn’t feel so uncertain. Uncertain about everything. Maybe if he just had a slight bit of an inkling, he wouldn’t be worrying so much. No, he probably still would; it’d just be nice to know that that worrying was unnecessary. A pressure was lifted off his chest when Sara said it didn’t change anything. As relieving as it was, Cade wanted to argue that. Of course it changed things, if she thought about the concept enough. He didn’t want things to change, no, but that didn’t mean that it didn’t happen. She would probably start analyzing things more and forming a better opinion once she was alone and distanced from Cade. He just happened to be clouding any good sense Sara had. Typical, problematic Caden.
The blonde was unable to answer Sara’s question after the kiss broke. He was much more than okay. He was at such a high level on the mood meter that he wasn’t even sure there were words to describe it. The fallen was pretty sure that the kiss hadn’t upset her like he was afraid it might. If it had, she would’ve…who knows? Slap him or something. Make it known. And here she was, lightly holding his chin and giving him a look that showed that he had been completely off base when making his original assumption. Even though he thought she might, Sara’s kiss surprised Cade. It wouldn’t be right to say that it had been unanticipated, just that he was still amazed Cade that this was all happening to him. When she pulled back, Caden leaned forward so their foreheads were touching. “I really like you too,” he admitted with a bright smile, though it was a redundant statement because it was already obvious that he did. She was making him feel goofy and Caden was afraid that a look somewhere along those lines was on his face. When Sara mentioned that him being a fallen didn’t change anything, he couldn’t help but move back a slight bit, put a little more distance between themselves.
See, Cade wasn’t completely comfortable with the fact that he was a fallen angel. He’d never really accepted being an angel either. Maybe it was because he grew up as a human with no understanding of any of the supernatural, or maybe it was because he didn’t think he was deserving of it. Either way, it was odd thinking that Sara could just accept it when he couldn’t. “It doesn’t bother you that I was born over a hundred years ago? That I’m older than your grandparents?” Caden really didn’t want to bring these thoughts to Sara, but almost felt compelled to. Cade had a slightly self-destructive streak. Once things started to get good for him, he typically and unknowingly sabotaged them. That was what was happening now and as much as the fallen wanted to stop it, his mouth kept going. “It doesn’t bother you that I’ve died and by all rights should have stayed that way?” His tone had become slightly emotionless. There wasn’t any anger behind the words, but more of a desperation. Caden didn’t want Sara to have a problem with any of this, but figured she’d probably would if she put it in the right context. “This is unnatural,” Cade added quietly, more to himself than to Sara. Because in all intents and purposes, it was. He shouldn’t exist right now, shouldn’t be able to just sit here with this amazing girl that he didn’t deserve.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - she smiled, raising her brows curiously, then adding, "If you want, bring your swim suit and we can head onto the boat." She almost said "houseboat" but she just called it her boat. It got her out onto the water and that was basically all she needed, just that this one came with a kitchen and two bedrooms and a living room area too. Plus a bathroom which she had to clean out if she and say a friend went out on the water for the weekend, just hanging out in the sun and enjoying the water while they wasted away the time. Now she wanted to have all the time in the world though to spend it with Cade. She'd of course finish off college, but Sara knew she'd be thinking about Cade when she was in a lecture over something she might already know as she had a habit to read ahead of the teacher. Falling silent, the blonde laughed weakly at Cade's comment on being an only child and how she had survived. Tilting her head curiously, the mermaid responded, "I'll admit, I think having a house always full would have been nice...but I did survive, plus my step-mom always made a point to spend time with me and...keep me busy with stuff, especially when like, her nieces and nephews would come. Teach me more Spanish." she laughed softly, remembering when a 12-year-old girl was able to speak better Spanish than an 18-year-old could. Course it was Esperanza's given language, it wasn't Sara's, though she was learning it, she liked to think she had it down after 6 years of studying it. At least enough. Grinning fondly, she looked to the handsome blonde to her side, squeezing his hand without realizing it, as to reassure herself that he was still here, "You'd probably be bored if you grew up without siblings I bet....right?" she inquired gently, telling him without words that he didn't need to answer if he didn't want to. Sara fell silent after that, as she then swapped back to the main subject at hand. Cade and what he was. Her heart thumped slightly in her chest and she prayed the fallen didn't hear it. Who knew what other abilities he had, he could probably read her mind - which she wasn't sure how she felt about, maybe it just depended on how much he did it and what he did with what he heard in her thoughts. Yes, that definitely seemed right. He really liked her back. Sara could have jumped for joy, if she didn't feel weighted down by the immense pain she felt. Not an emotional pain, but a pain that she couldn't put into words what she thought about it. What did she think about this? Caden had decades of experience on her, and she used to think, used to of course, she knew everything, and only being 19. Here Cade was, proving her wrong, he was over her father's age (which would not be a thing Sara would ever tell her father), and her grandparents! Well at least the ones she'd met, her step-mom's parents and her dad's parents. Not her mom's parents. Not yet anyway. She sighed, trying to find her words, feeling Cade's hand suddenly lift and brush some of her hair back, emerald eyes lifted in slight surprise, though - appreciation as he then lingered there for a moment longer, it was so gentle. So affectionate. He really was too good to be true, she told herself. Pausing, Sara spoke, her eyes falling down to look at her hand that was intertwined with Cade's, as she felt the small movement around them, telling them they were still moving on the Ferris Wheel, "I...it's...in...the grand scheme of things age...I suppose doesn't bother me that much." She frowned, pursing her lips slightly, finding the right words, "I just don't want to...lose....you." she admitted, glancing away for a few moments. She shook her head, frustrated. Why did Cade have to go and ask that? Well, it was good she figured. She could use this, figure out what she really did think of his age. So, he was immortal. Then...what did that mean for her? Was she just entertainment till she grew old? Her nerves clenched and her stomach and hands followed suit at this idea. Just...what did that mean? Worried eyes lifted to lock onto Cade's for a moment, noticing him keeping the distance from her, she didn't move backwards, or forwards, just stayed right as she was, not wanting to frighten Caden in any way shape or form. "We're all unnatural in some way, Cade. Maybe this is just...your way." Well that didn't sound very good. Sighing, Sara quickly added, "It's just...in the end, it doesn't matter to me. I suppose somewhat it makes me...curious...but not necessarily bothered that I will be creeped out by what you know that I don't. I suppose..." she paused, her voice fading as she figured it out. Any time she thought of stuff like this, sometimes she liked to sort through things first, which could take awhile, depending on what it was about. Since it was with Cade, she had a feeling it could take awhile, especially because he just meant so much to her, in such little time, it felt like they'd been together for months and months now. "Were you expecting me to be bothered by it?" she blurted, without meaning to. Realizing she had, Sara shook her head, hair shifting slightly and she spoke, "Don't answer that...please. I...I just want you to know that...you are who you are Cade....I...I don't think less of you or more of you because you've seen things I can only imagine..." she lifted his hand she had, and ran her fingers over his skin, as if testing it, "It...must have been hard." she whispered, figuring he'd know what she meant, by seeing ones he loved die. God, she could only imagine. Oh God. Was she being selfish? He'd just told her he liked her, and here she was, looping him in and then he may have to lose her too! God she didn't want that to happen, she really didn't. Was there a witch who could help? Freaked, Sara gulped, and looked down, feeling....ashamed of herself. She was going to hurt Cade eventually, unless she found a way. She never wanted to do that. Not in a million years... The fallen angel already knew that he would be looking forward to Monday for the rest of the weekend and that he’d want it to never end once it got there. He was already dreading the fact that this day would come to a close and was planning on drawing it out as long as possible. Unless Sara got sick and tired of him, which wouldn’t surprise Cade. His sisters had always told him that he had that type of personality people could only stand in increments of time. Now, they had been a little biased, seeing as how he was their younger sibling and all, but Caden had taken the comment to heart and always worried about being too much. He wasn’t going to think about that now; they’d cross that bridge when they came to it, if they did at all. “Lunch it is then. Monday.” He silently added that he’d be counting down the hours but thought that might be a tad creep, but he would do it all the same. There must be something wrong with him. There had to be. Cade was never so…sappy. Not that he had known of. He never had a girl on his mind so much, not to the point where she seemed to be in every conscious thought and most likely subconscious as well. But even if there was something wrong with him, Caden didn’t care and didn’t want it to change.
He almost missed Sara’s comment about bringing a swimsuit and heading out onto the boat. Caden wasn’t sure how he felt about boats. He had never really ridden on one, mostly because he was afraid of going out deep in the ocean and falling off the boat. Sure, the blonde couldn’t drown, not now with being a fallen and all, but that didn’t mean that it’d be a pleasant situation. “Promise not to make fun of my swimming?” Caden asked, knowing he’d look like a drowning fool next to Sara. Asking her to not make fun of him though was pointless. Sara, even if she found his swimming skills pathetic, wouldn’t point it out to make fun of him. She was too much of a sweetheart to make him feel bad. He still felt the need to say it, knowing an audible promise would make him feel surer. It didn’t matter all that much. They were already moving onto another topic. “That’s nice,” Cade said, commenting on the fact that there were at least children in the house. “They’re kind of like part-time siblings. There when you want them, gone when you don’t.” Though Cade doubted he could’ve done it. Sara mentioned that he’d be bored without siblings and he smiled in response. He would’ve gotten into so much more trouble than he did as a child and he probably would’ve made his mom go prematurely gray.
Caden was becoming very tuned into Sara’s motions and it was odd, him being so perceptive. He wasn’t one to focus on the smallest details. Sure they were important, but he was a more of a big picture kind of guy. Except for when it came to Sara, as it was beginning to appear. The slight frown caused a mirror image on his face and he really hoped that he hadn’t been the cause of it, but didn’t doubt that he was. Again, Cade found himself wishing that he knew what she was thinking, if only so he could fix that frown. It’d appear as though he wouldn’t have to wait long though to figure out what was on her mind. She seemed to voice her worries rather clearly, if that had been what caused her to frown. “I’m not going anywhere,” the blonde promised her, squeezing their interlocked fingers tighter in a tempt to reassure her. Just the thought of losing Sara sent shivers down his spine. He would never be able to survive that. It’d be much too cruel, to meet someone as wonderful as Sara, who felt as if they were a part of you that you hadn’t known you were lacking only to have them ripped completely out. And yet, here he was, trying to make Sara find some sort of fault with him so she could do just that.
There was no reason why he should be lucky enough to be on this Ferris Wheel with her. There had to be others who were more deserving of her, not some ex-angel who shouldn’t be up moving and breathing and living. Sara’s hand tightened around Cade’s and his eyes met her worried ones. He was struck for the third time with the desire to know what was on her mind. “What are you thinking about, Sara?” He asked, though in a quitter voice than he had been using in their conversation, trying to give her the hint that she didn’t need to answer but he was deeply curious. Whatever was causing her stress, Caden wanted to make it stop so she could be worry free. Though it seemed like she was trying to make excuses for him being a freak of nature, and he couldn’t stop himself from trying to poke holes in them. “It’s not just unnatural. I should be dust in some decomposed box buried deep in the ground of Italy, not here. It’s like being a freak among those who are already considered strange.” Cade ran his free hand through his hair and glanced down at the people below them, slightly jealous of their carefree lives. Why couldn’t he just be a typical supernatural, something born that way instead of being an accidental one?
“I was expecting it to bother you,” the fallen replied, ignoring Sara’s request that he didn’t. “I still don’t like thinking about all of it.” He mind as well get one of the biggest reasons out there; he still couldn’t cope with being an angel a fallen angel. How could he rightfully ask someone else to accept him when he couldn’t even do that for himself? His gaze returned to the people down below, like he was trying to collect his thoughts before continuing. Then Sara ran her fingers over his hand and he turned his full attention back to her. She mentioned about something being difficult and Caden wasn’t entirely sure what she meant until he picked apart the sentence. “It’s not actually as hard as you’d think,” Cade said, and then realized he sounded absolutely heartless. “That didn’t come out right. I mean, I missed my family. I still do. But the whole time I was a guardian angel, it was almost like I was detached from earth. I had other angel friends and I was okay. They don’t die.” The blonde paused and glanced at Sara before looking back at their hands. “After…ah…falling…I tried to keep myself from getting close to any non-immortal.” Maggie had been the only one and Caden had told himself he wasn’t going to go through any more loss. And then he moved here, became best friends with Owen. That should’ve been his first warning. The second Cade began caring for Owen like a brother spelled trouble – he was someone that Cade couldn’t think about disappearing. And then came Sara. “It was a half-baked plan at best. Now though…” He sighed. “Sara,” The fallen was going to say he couldn’t imagine of a world without her in it, that the very thought of it making him want to break out into a clammy sweat. He just couldn’t form the words, still in the mindset that he didn’t want to seem like some clingy, emotional weirdo. Instead, he just looked like a fish, with an opening and closing mouth, as he debated whether or not he should finish the sentence. Finally, Caden settled on just keeping his mouth shut and staring into Sara’s deep green eyes.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - she paused, wondering if Cade should know she was a bit of a picky eater. Well, she certainly didn't eat any kind of seafood as she was surrounded by the fish constantly when not in public, and plus she preferred not to eat any meat, but she'd eat ice cream and drink milk and such. It was just the meat and fish part, she could bring that up later. Or maybe now. Yes. Pausing, she grinned shyly, "Umm...if I may add just my...thoughts." her eyes locked onto his, enjoying the sight of the marvelous blue hues they were, "I'm not that big of a fan of seafood or meat." Sara smiled innocently, then added, "You can eat it of course but...I really never have." she gushed, unable to hide a sheepish smile when she told him that. She glanced away, as if shy to admit that; Sara was in a way, but not that if Cade were to eat a steak or something, she wouldn't get on him about that. Even if he were to change his diet, Sara wouldn't mind - it was his stomach. But she didn't want to influence him to change, and she certainly wasn't going to be one of those types of girls that commented on everything their friends or significant other ate. Plus she had a feeling Cade would eat what-ever he wanted - within reason of course. Then there were just some things Sara didn't want either of them to eat, like raw things - they could get sick. She wasn't sure about Cade getting sick with him being immortal and all, but nonetheless. At his inquiry about her promising to not poke fun at his swimming, Sara couldn't help but laugh lightly. Beaming brighter than she imagined she ever could with someone, she nodded lightly, "But of course, Cade." she grinned solemnly to let him know she was serious, but the mermaid had a feeling Cade would be just fine. Granted if what he said was true she may be able to swim circles around him, that just came with the difference in what they were as a different species, but both still very human. "Yeah, that's true. I love my cousins and such, though they like to speak in a dialect of Spanish I don't know when they plan things like birthday presents when I happen to be around." The blonde smiled fondly, eyes falling from Cade for a moment to the people below as they circled around and were approaching the ground. Fortunately they seemed to have a few more turns on the Ferris Wheel. Wonderful. It was absolute bliss up here. She scanned around their surroundings for a brief moment, before he opened his mouth and called her attention quickly back to him. Not like there was anything else she wanted to pay attention to. Sara absolutely adored being with him, and much more than she would ever admit to anyone else's face but probably her own or Cade. Falling silent as his words, she grinned weakly and nodded, before looking down to his hands as if he'd suddenly disappear into the wind like sand, just disappear and she'd be here - alone and wondering where he'd gone. That was the worst. If Cade just suddenly decided to leave. She shivered that thought away and her eyes went slightly wide at what she was thinking. Just what was she thinking? Sara was having a bit of a panic thought process going on. With the idea of Cade leaving, her being only temporary made her think of something out of a book, only this was real life, and she was living it. Only this time, unlike the characters, she would give up anything. Sara would do anything to be able to see Cade one more time. That much she knew. But right now, she was perfectly content where they were - in their own little bubble world. Outside it just seemed like a dream, as if their imaginations wanted to toy with them, reminding them there was actually reality out there. "It's...okay." she sighed, giving him a reassuring smile. She didn't want to bring that up now. No, not this early in their relationship. She was enjoying this time too much and she wasn't going to have a freak-out session right in the middle of the bliss. She gave him a light look at his words and she brushed aside some of his hair casually with her fingers, grazing his forehead slightly as she did so and she mused lightly, "Are you trying to get through my logic?" she inquired gently, before adding, "Cade...don't you worry. Maybe talk to an Immortal about it?" she shrugged softly, "I'm sure you can find someone around here who is also Immortal." she reassured, though her hand fell from his for a moment, eyes falling. She wasn't. Cade was, and therefore it would only cause him pain in the future. Cade was going to move on with his life, continue on as a fallen angel, while Sara grew gray hair, crow's feet eventually and was laid to rest. Granted mermaids could live a little longer than humans, but nonetheless, Sara would age - Cade wouldn't. It would end up hurting him, she didn't want to do that - ever. She shook her head softly after a moment, "Then...try not to think about it too much..." she whispered, finally lifting her gaze to meet Cade's, "I don't know how hard that may be but...it's just a thought." Meaning he could obviously just ignore it if he wanted, she wasn't going to push any thoughts into his head, that just wasn't right. Sara tilted her head ever so slightly, eyes following his own eyes and falling to his lips when he spoke. Speaking about them, about the two of them and such. Unable to smother a gentle smile when it appeared, the mermaid sighed softly, then perked when he sighed, saying her name. He didn't know what it did to her when he said her name. It made her feel like she was priceless. Just by saying her name, and his smile could break any girl's heart in a second if he worked it just right. She ran her hand gently along Cade's jaw for a moment, before her hand fell to his pair of hands, and squeezed them gently, noticing - unfortunately people were starting to get off - they had another few moments up here. "Oh, Cade." she sighed softly, before lifting her eyes as their eyes met and locked, "I can only imagine." she closed her eyes for a moment, as if imagining it when in reality, she was planning what to say next. "If I can do anything for you with your family...please make sure to let me know." she urge. Sara knew if she were to be an angel or something, and had the chance to somehow communicate, she would. Not in a creepy, weird way. But in a way to tell them she was happy and keeping an eye on them. Drawing herself closer, Sara pecked Cade's cheek affectionately as their Ferris Wheel ride was drawing to an end, and the people who opened the door beckoned them out. Sara was almost tempted to pay them to go again, but she settled on just moving on and finding another thing to do. Her hand remained with Cade's - if he hadn't pulled away, and Sara spoke, "I really liked that...I don't think I'll ever forget it." [/BLOCKQUOTE][/ul] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TAG kel love!
