With his thoughts preoccupied for most of the day with an Encyclopedia, he ate up the book, and now - had nothing to do at 4 in the afternoon. Wonderful, he grumbled to himself. A pressing thought occurred in his head, he'd been thinking about it for awhile, and why not? He should get a dog, he lived in this apartment all by himself, and he had some fish, but that was basically it. Grinning softly at the thought, cursing the weekends, he headed to get his laptop and proceeded to start surfing local humane societies. The weird part, was the last time he had a dog as a foster parent for awhile, the dog always listened to him, and even got scared sometimes too. Was it because it could sense what he was? Possibly, as he searched, he debated on calling Ellie to see if she'd want to go with him. Help him pick out a dog - or two. Knowing him, he'd most likely get two, so the other one could have company, and he'd get his own little pack going on. Wrinkling his nose, his eyes landed on an Australian Shepherd and Jack Russell Mix, named Lola, thankfully she was only 2 months old, so he could probably renamed her. Shaking his head, he then selected a 5-month old Rottie/Mix, they didn't seem to know what the other mix was. Nevertheless, he placed an inquiry on them, knowing he had a week to go in there before they were able to be adopted again, leaving a name, the black-haired male logged off, and realized he'd wasted only thirty minutes.
God, he moaned inwardly, and then grabbed his keys, locking his door as he left, heading down the stairs. No physics projects either, how saddening. Eying his shoes, he chuckled softly, as he glanced to the sunset, the only good thing about winter he thought, as he held up the jacket on his neck, was that the sun set earlier, so he could explore earlier. Blinking bright blue eyes as he headed into the forest, he soon entered deeper into it, inhaling slowly, checking to see if there was anyone around. The only good thing besides his speed and strength, was that he could smell all species, nice huh? The male shivered slightly as he carefully tucked all his clothing away, he'd never tried to shift without his clothes on, just in case they actually would rip like in those stupid Twilight movies he was dragged to see with a few friends. Shaking that thought out of his head, he then crouched down, and whimpered only for a moment. In this moment, black hair grew from his head, and it soon - quickly - covered the rest of his body. Jaws elongated and split, his bones cracking and muscles growing. Within that blink of an eye, in the young man's place, was a massive, black beast. Thick, shaggy hair ruffled slightly in the wind, he lifted his head, sniffing intently, before then taking off. This was the part he loved, running through the trees, smelling everything and anything he wanted to, just letting his instincts fly.
Powerful paws reached out to increase his stride, as he then came up to a river. Padding through it softly, the black wolf's ears perked up when he heard something to his left. Scowling the wolf lowered his head, ears pinning back to his cranium, then caught the scent, a hunter. Growling, the powerful wolf lunged, narrowly missing a bullet, as he spotted the hunter, he realized why he could have missed him, there were beer bottle scattered about. Scoffing the wolf then snarled viciously towards the hunter, then grabbing his gun in his jaws, and managing to snap the firearm in half. Smirking, the wolf flicked the hunter with his tail, then returned back into the darkness of the forest, knowing if people nearby heard that, they'd most likely come and investigate. Especially those pesky Forest Rangers as well. Growling softly, the animal then paused and perked its ears up when a foursome of wolves appeared. They all paused and looked at the larger creature, before the largest of the four, obviously the dominant male, snarled, licking his chops, telling him to either join his pack, get lost or he'd fight. Hissing, the bigger wolf backed off. That's what he didn't want, a high bond with other wolves, as he padded away, a howl was thrown to him, telling him a wise choice, and that there was a light bond between the two now. Sitting on his haunches, head leaned back to almost 90 degrees, and returned the howl. Though this one was much stronger, and deeper than most wolves' howls. Just because of his size and what he was.
A freak.
That word stung him like silver did, as the black wolf peered up at the half-full moon, as he started to follow his own path back to his clothing. Where they had been stashed. Bushy tail wagging slightly, he knew he had to work on Monday, and with tonight being Saturday night, he'd prefer not to bother with staying up all night - again. Wrinkling his nose, the wolf, having been out here till about 10 at night, then disappeared, shrinking back into the lean, though muscular and black-haired young male. Scrambling and pressing himself into the tree, in a crouched position, he tensed when he suddenly heard someone nearing his tiny clearing in some bushes, by a massive oak tree. Quickly, he scrambled into his underwear, jeans and was pulling on his shoes, with not shirt on, revealing the bullets he'd been hit by when he was younger, silver ones too. They just scratched him, but nonetheless, Lucas, his father had killed that werewolf slayer. Pausing, bright blue eyes looked up in mild horror towards the person, before he then straightened, and awkwardly spoke, "I was...swimming. There's a river nearby." What a horrible lie. But hey, if it worked, he'd be perfectly fine with it, as he slid on his shirt and jacket quickly, shyly looking away from the person, and spoke, "I...I'll just leave now..."

Why was the fallen angel so full of stupidity? It was something Caden wondered often. He had been alive for over a hundred years, twenty two of them as a human, another quarter century as a guardian angel, and the past fifty or so years as a fallen angel. You think someone who had been around for so long would learn some sort of common sense. Like the fact that you didn’t go wandering around in a cold, dark forest without a proper coat on. A long sleeved, but extremely thin, shirt just wasn’t going to cut it. And while Cade liked to pretend he was above the cold, he was freezing. Popping the collar of his shirt in an attempt to keep his ears warm and shoving his hands in his pockets, Cade trudged on through the woods. Another area where the young blonde was lacking? The little warning light that went off when you were doing something stupid, the one that most called self-preservation. Maybe it was because there wasn’t much that could actually kill Caden. He wasn’t going to catch a cold from wandering around a dark night and wasn’t going to get seriously injured by anything in the forest. Unless he ran into a pissed off angel. That would definitely be a downfall to tonight.
Well who knows? Even then that might be nice. It’d definitely be better than just wandering around dark woods. Yet another example of how fortunate Cade was for being mostly indestructible; he’d much rather run into something that had the potential to kill him than having absolutely nothing to do. The blonde really did need to get his priorities in order before he accidently got killed. The fallen angel wandered further into the forest, really regretting his lack of coat with each step he took. Still, he couldn’t bear the thought of returning back to his empty apartment. He had done absolutely nothing today but lazed around his apartment. Literally, nothing. He had woken up and ate a bowl of cereal – arguably the most productive part of his day – and then sat down in front of his Xbox. Possibly the best purchase Cade had ever made in his life, or the worst, depending on how one looked at it. Playing his Xbox was the way Cade spent a good portion of his day, which some said was wasteful. But when you had eternity and the days blended together, wasn’t it okay to waste a day or two here? Or maybe a week at a time. There was very little difference to Cade. Regardless, that was what his day had consisted of; lounging around his apartment in a pair of pj pants, sitting mindlessly in front of a video game, and killing zombies that slightly creeped him out. Hey, if you were alone in an apartment with (virtual) decaying things and glowing eyes, then you’d understand. Especially once the room was dark. Which actually happened with surprising speed, seeing as how when Caden had sat down, the sun was still brightly shining.
He couldn’t justify staying in that apartment anymore. So after throwing on clothes, Cade dragged himself out of the apartment. And where better to go than a dark forest? So making a full circle, here Cade was. Trying to find something to do for the rest of the night. Though it was starting to look hopeless. What did the fallen angel really think he’d find here anyway? Just about ready to give up, Cade turned to go the way he came. That was when his eyes fell on the dark shape of a wolf. He was pretty sure the wolf hadn’t noticed him, had been too distracted by something else. A slight smirk played on Caden’s lips as he followed the wolf, knowing exactly who it was. So tonight was going to get interesting. Following almost completely silent, Cade kept a respectable amount of space between him and the black haired creature. If it was who Caden thought it was, then it might be a good idea to give him some space when he transformed back into a human. There were some things that you couldn’t unsee and the blonde felt as though Owen naked would fall under that category.
After Caden had decided that he had waited long enough – for someone that had all the time in the world, he was rather impatient – he hiked towards the spot he had seen Owen disappear. It was obvious that Owen had no idea who had followed him, judging by the stream of excuses that flowed from his mouth. Smirking, Cade leaned his tall frame against a tree, crossing his arms in front of him and giving off an air of confidence. “How stupid do you think I am?” He asked, a hint of laughter coloring his tone. Pushing himself from the tree, Cade quickly closed the distance between the two males. He put his arm around Owen’s neck and pulled him close to give him a noogie, despite the fact that Owen was taller. “What are you doing out here? Playing the big bad wolf, are we?” Cade released Owen from his grasp and stepped away, a smile still plastered on his face.

As the excuses seemed to shoot out of his mouth like falling stars, Owen played with his hair nervously as he adjusted his jacket, pulling it fully onto his shoulders and buttoning it up. Bright eyes landed on the figure approaching him, and he inhaled slowly, suddenly recognizing the scent. Dammit, how could he have missed him? His smell was so - defined, just like he was. Caden and his confidence. The confidence Owen lacked so much of, though he made up for it in smarts, he still had to fight with Cade a lot to be able to win at games if they decided to play them together - which they did a lot. Not to mention the never-ending jealousy Owen felt towards Cade, he loved the guy, like a brother of course, despite him being probably - way cooler than himself. Nose wrinkled slightly when the figure then approached him, and leaned against the tree, he spotted the bright blonde hair. Hair Owen had always been jealous of too. Actually in reality, Owen was just jealous of Caden in general. The looks and confidence, the air that he ejected around him when-ever they would hang out together. The werewolf paused slightly as the fallen angel then inquired, though it was rhetorical, he felt the urge to answer it. Who wouldn't? Owen was like the puppy dog all girls wanted to cuddle with, one who wanted to please everyone. He hesitated and answered, "I...I don't think your dumb."
He answered in his defense. It was quite the opposite, Owen really worshiped Cade, he could probably get any girl that he wanted, those blue eyes, that blonde hair. Frowning slightly, Owen stood up, him being about two inches taller than Cade, and brushed off his dark jeans. It was nice though, he was particularly glad that he didn't need to worry about explaining himself more to the person. It just ended up being someone he knew, which he was really thankful for. Now he didn't need to keep up with his excuses, he just needed to make sure he didn't trip over his own two feet. That was probably a reason, now that he thought about it, that he loved being a wolf. Being a wolf, he just felt so much more confident about himself, he moved with such ease and grace, he hated this form, his human form sometime. It made him question too, should he be more wolf or more human? Confusion settled into his being and it etched itself nicely over his features before he realized it. Straightening himself, it was a moment later when Owen's neck was grabbed, and he was bent over slightly as Cade gave him a noogie. Unable to hide a laugh, feeling like he was 10 again, Owen shook his head after wards, like a dog would after it got out of the bath or got wet. He wasn't too picky about his hair, but the noogies always felt weird, though Cade still did them, Owen just knew - figured - it was just who he was. After all, Owen really did appreciate Cade's company, even if he did feel like he was a child next to him sometimes. Blinking calmly, he added, "I just didn't see you...not that like... Guess I...was distracted." he stuttered slightly, before grinning lightly at Cade's inquiry towards him. He shrugged slightly, eying the blonde quietly. "W-wasting time." he answered swiftly. It was true though, besides, a friend of his - who happened to be a girl, invited him to a party tonight, and told him he could bring a "wing-man" if he wanted. Which in the end, Owen would end up being the wingman and the guy the girls wanted to hug, but not date. Pausing, Owen added, "I...I saw a h-hunter out here.." He sighed softly, before looking to Cade and noticing slight goosebumps on the fallen. Giving the blonde a look, Owen shrugged off his jacket and offered it to him, since he had on two shirts, "Take it." The black-haired male then inquired, "W-what are you doing...here?" Owen approached Cade slightly, and stepped around him, smelling the air for that hunter from earlier. Fortunately he was too hammered - luckily - to seem to be worried about anything, especially the bear-sized wolf that bit his gun in two. Checking his teeth, Owen turned to Cade, "I...I was invited...somewhere. A party. Yeah...a party. Want to go?" Hey, why not? He'd missed hanging out with Cade lately, but he wanted to revitalize it, who knows, maybe they could have some fun. It was nice though, not to have to worry too much about being himself with Cade, he was like the other older brother, the one who would make sure Owen was happy. Not that Aidan didn't do that, but Cade had the confidence both Owen and Aidan lacked severely. Something Owen wanted to obtain, and was hoping he could...eventually. For a wolf, Owen was quite a jumpy kid. You’d think that he wouldn’t be afraid of much, seeing as how he could quickly transform and gulp down almost anything in this forest in one bite. And yet, here he was, nervous and fidgeting, spitting out excuses that made no sense. “Ya sure? ‘Cause I feel like I’d have to be pretty damn stupid to believe that you were swimming.” Not in this weather, when just standing outside for a short period of time caused a loss of feeling in one’s toes. The kid would be one giant ice block had he tried to go swimming and as amusing of a mental image that was, the idea of dealing with hypothermia wasn’t. Besides, if Owen had been swimming, then his hair would be wet, at least. Caden couldn’t help but poke holes in Owen’s excuse, though he wouldn’t voice them out loud. The black haired guy was smart, much too smart for his own good. Smarter than Cade could ever hope to be. And while the blonde was envious of that, he’d never tell Owen nor would he try to bring the kid down. “We’re going to need to think of a better excuse,” Cade said, including himself when it’d be Owen who thought of the actual explanation as to why he was out in the woods at such a late hour. Caden wouldn’t be able to think of anything plausible. Owen would, he’d just have to not get so panicky next time.
Caden worried about the wolf, another thing he wouldn’t ever tell his friend. He wasn’t the type that went around expressing his fears and doubts. The blonde just shoved everything little upsetting thing away and kept a smile on his face. Rarely did he frown or otherwise. But he was always afraid that someday, Owen would slip up, would make a mistake because he panicked. It was the only way the fallen could see Owen making a error, because he was just too careful and cautious. And Cade felt like it might be a blow to Owen’s self-esteem if he told him so. Resisting the urge to give Owen another noogie, Cade slugged him lightly in the arm instead. “Guess we’re lucky that I found you,” he teased. Especially if Owen had been so distracted that he hadn’t even noticed the other guy. There could’ve been all manners of creatures out here to run into Owen, some more friendly than others and some that were downright nasty.
Though none of that mattered now; nothing had happened. All potential disasters averted. Caden didn’t want to think about what could have happened. He hadn’t seen his friend in a while and missed him, much like an older brother might miss the younger one. Owen was the little brother Cade had always wanted but never had and spending time with him right now was what the fallen angel wanted to do. “What am I doing out here?” the young man repeated, laughing. He clapped Owen on the shoulder, still chuckling slightly. “That’s what I’ve been wondering myself.” Caden was a strong believer in things happening for a reason, in fate and all that jazz. It must have come from being one of God’s foot soldiers, because Cade hadn’t been like that before. He would’ve laughed, actually, had anyone suggested that there was a thing like destiny. But that was then, when the blonde was young and stupid. This must have been a sign saying that it was time for Owen and Cade to do something, because why else would they have found each other in such a random location? Though, Owen being in the woods was arguably more natural than Cade, simply because of what they were.
The blonde accepted Owen’s coat with a smile of gratitude. He slipped into the coat and despite the fact that Owen was taller than Cade, the coat was tight. The fallen angel had quite a bit of muscle on his otherwise lean frame, due to his penchant for working out. The mention of a party caused his blue eyes to brighten and sparkle and a mischievous smile to spread across his lips. “A party? Why didn’t you mention somethin’ sooner, man?” The fallen angel couldn’t resist a good party. Hell, he’d gone to so many that they had all blended together. And what better way to spend an otherwise wasted day? Straightening his shirt collar, Caden glanced down at the clothes he was wearing, deciding that he would’ve chosen something better had he known that he and Owen were going to go out. Oh well, it was much too late now. And besides, in Cade’s experience, once people got drunk enough, it didn’t matter what you were wearing.
“Let’s get goin’ then,” Cade motioned for Owen to follow and started walking out of the forest. He shoved his hands in the pockets of the borrowed coat, feeling ten times warmer than he had on the way out here. Owen really was a sweet kid, and sometimes it annoyed Cade that that was all anyone saw of him. Not that it was a bad thing, but some people took that opportunity to walk over the wolf. “We’re gonna find you a chica tonight,” Cade said with a smile that showed he had just made that a goal.

I'M THE NEW CANCER •• N E V E R • L O O K E D • B E T T E R •• A N D Y O U C A N ' T S T A N D I T- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The werewolf watched the blonde's eyes. He could see his own mind working, checking the kinks and such. Personally, Owen wanted to start working on something to keep his mind busy, instead of randomly spitting out random facts he knew. He sealed his trap shut though, especially the minute Cade responded about him swimming. Glancing up to his mass of black hair, Owen answered, "I didn't get my hair...wet."
Yeah, that made sense. God, he was still not sure why Cade hung out with him as much as he did. Cade could be friends with anyone he wanted to be friends with, yet here he was, hanging out with him of all people. Certainly everyone else in the world was better prepared at public speaking than Owen would probably ever be in his life. Unless he had it written out for him before. Wrinkling his nose in displeasure at this thought, the wolf then stretched himself slightly, sighing as he felt his bones crack back into their rightful place completely. He even felt taller too, which was something he really didn't want to have happen, but it felt like it nonetheless. Plus he was trying not to slouch so much, a habit he realized he'd picked up over the years, mainly to try and see if he couldn't avoid more eyes on him, especially the eyes of the girls who immediately took him to be gay for some unknown godly reason. Scowling slightly at this, the thought vanished the moment Cade spoke once more to him. Rapidly, Owen's quick mind began to work. He fell silent, bright eyes falling to the ground, as he spoke, "It's hunting season, isn't it?" He paused, "Went...hunting with my u-uncle...got separated..." Course he knew when it came right down to it, he'd panic and probably say something he shouldn't. Cade was the extra leg he needed, he felt like a two-legged wolf without Cade around sometimes. Even then, he always felt like a Chihuahua around the Great Dane that he compared Cade to. Even if Owen shifted into a bear-sized wolf. Owen swayed slightly when Cade slugged him, mostly in mild teasing. Cade still had most of the angel strength within him, even if he rarely realized it. Clutching his arm, as if it'd been broken, Owen responded, "Y-yeah...definitely." Though he desired to speak like Cade could, without stammering sometimes...or just plain being a dork. A soft sigh escaped the young man's lips before he could help it then looked back to Cade silently. He grinned lightly when Cade mentioned why he was out here - no reason. That made sense, Owen commented silently in his head, eying the blonde quietly before he answered, "Y-yeah...maybe you should...you know, find one too." he smiled playfully, like a puppy would when it wouldn't give up its toy to the person playing with it, "M-maybe we were...hunting out here...with my uncle...we both got lost." A chuckle escaped his lips nervously. The moment Cade responded to the party how Owen had figured he would, he checked the coat on the fallen, noticing how it seemed to be a little tight. Of course, he thought. Cade was "thicker" so to speak than him. Owen had the lean muscles, while Cade had the more of the "bulk" muscles, so to speak. Otherwise, the coat would have been a bit bigger on Cade, well it was, just in height though. Eying the spectacle, Owen smiled silently, before gesturing back towards civilization, where he knew the party was being held, "Then...but...do I n-need to go?" he inquired, feeling his nerves pour into him. Dammit, it was just a party! He told himself, one of his hands clenching in annoyance into a fist. It wasn't like he was going to meet the President of the United States or anything, though in some ways, it was worse. There were girls at the party, and sometimes he ended up reciting laws and theorems to them. Sometimes because they asked, other times because they goaded him into doing it. Owen blinked at Caden, feeling like the younger brother - as he usually did. Why did everyone always had to be older than the 22-year-old? Then again, Cade was an angel though, so he was Immortal, which meant no death for him. Owen felt like death sometimes at parties, they just weren't his thing, but he'd been to parties with Cade before, and he knew what happened. His comfort zone was yanked away from him faster than he could say, Uncle! Stumbling slightly, Owen yelped and quickly regained his balance, unusual for someone of his height, but he did, as Cade began walking away. "B-but..." He began to start forming logical reasons why he shouldn't go to the party, and he immediately regretted mentioning it. "I-it's just...I have..a project due...for physics." Yes, it was a downright lie, and Cade probably knew that, but it wouldn't hurt to try it out, "I need to...get it done...tonight." Owen felt a little bad for lying, okay, pretty bad, but still! He'd much rather hang out with some good friends and play video games or something, or work on his graduation project. Nevertheless, eyes darkened in worry when Cade spoke about getting him a "chica" tonight. Muttering something in that language, Owen then caught up swiftly to Cade and spoke, holding out his arms, showing his - emotions, which were too easily readable on his face, "Cade! Why? M-maybe....just a name? Or..number?" he asked, not wanting to really talk to a girl all that much. Or if Cade forced him, Owen could lie again. No, he hated lying. Didn't bring anything to any justice. Frowning, finding himself in a tight situation, he was half-tempted to turn on his heel and make a run for it, though he knew Cade would track him down, he would be easy to find - till he managed to disappear. Scowling slightly at his own thoughts, Owen then looked to Cade, before sighing, his usual signal for giving in, and gestured to their right as they headed fully back into town, "It's...at that club there. She has...a room reserved..f-for everyone...the b-big private rooms." [/blockquote][/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -• B E C A U S E Y O U S A Y S O •UNDER YOUR BREATH 50+ WORDS | COMPLETE | OPEN | CHECK THE TOP PIC LYRICS BY PANIC! Owen was arguably one of Cade’s closest friends. He couldn’t remember how they had become so close, but Caden figured it was like that with all the best friendships. The friendship was such a great thing that you couldn’t remember what it had been like without that person in your life. You didn’t know the exact moment they had stepped into your life because it had made it a better thing. It felt like they had always been there. At least, that was how Cade viewed his friendship with Owen. He cared for the wolf like he was his younger brother. He might’ve teased him every so often, but never meant it and hated people who gave him a hard time. The fallen angel would be quick to pick a fight with anyone who tried to bother him. They were only jealous of Owen’s brains anyway. Owen might’ve wondered why Caden bothered being friends with him, but Cade always wondered what he did to deserve a friendship as good as the one they shared. He was honestly nothing special and currently not held in high regards with the big guy who ran things in the sky. Through some weird twist of fate though, here he was with the wolf and Cade wouldn’t change that for anything.
His companion mentioned something about hunting, and Cade looked Owen up and down. He wasn’t dressed like a hunter, nor would he pass for one. “You don’t look much like a hunter. Where’s your gun? And what the hell do you think you’re goin’ to shoot tonight?” For some reason, the blonde couldn’t help but poke holes into this potential excuse. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he could never see Owen as a hunter. Sure, he was a wolf, and a dangerous, out of control one on the full moon at that, but he didn’t intentionally hurt anyone or anything. Owen was much too sweet for that. He didn’t seem like a kid who – as cliché as it was – would kill a fly. And Cade didn’t want to picture him, gun in hands, stalking some poor wildlife. Couldn’t picture him doing that. It probably didn’t help matters that Cade hated to see animals in pain and hated the concept of hunting itself, but there was absolutely no way he could pair the idea with the kid next to him. They didn’t – and would never – line up and it would stay that way.
“You don’t need to think of anything else,” Cade snapped, sounding almost irritated. He wasn’t annoyed with Owen, just annoyed by the idea of him being a hunter. It was still bothering him, even if nothing had actually happened. Caden hated that, having weird mood swings. It happened to him every so often and he was never sure why. But he always felt guilty and horrible after it, especially if it was a turn towards the worst and he yelled at someone when they didn’t deserve it. Much like what had just happened. The blonde particularly hated it when it happened with Owen because he never did anything to try to provoke anyone. He was a very “no confrontation” kid, not wanting to upset people or start a fight. Never would there be a reason to yell at him, and Cade felt absolutely awful when he slipped and did. In a kinder tone – wanting to make up for his mood swing – he added, “If we see anyone, I’ll do the talking.” Because Cade could easily make up some convincing excuse, even if it didn’t make much sense. All he had to do was stay innocent looking, keep his blue eyes wide, and people felt that they could trust him instantly.
He was ready for a fight with Owen over this party. The young Salvatore had been genuinely surprised when Owen had mentioned it. The wolf hated parties, hated when Cade dragged him to them. If he knew about one, why didn’t he withhold the information? It must’ve been a slip of the tongue, a complete accident. Caden could almost guarantee that he regretted mentioning it now, but it was much too late. Cade was set on going to this party and of taking Owen with him. “Of course you have to go. Don’t be stupid,” Cade said, not looking back at Owen as he picked his way through the woods. Unlike Owen who had just tripped but regained his balance, Cade would’ve fallen flat and he didn’t really need to do that tonight. He felt sort of mean, for taking Owen to something he obviously didn’t want to go to and for extorting the fact that Owen would follow him. Because he wasn’t sure if Owen had realized it or not, but he couldn’t physically force Owen to go anywhere he didn’t want to be. Sure, Caden would resort to wheedling and pleading and begging, and wouldn’t be afraid to use all the force his big blue eyes possessed, but there was nothing saying that Owen had to listen to any of it.
“You're full of it. Don’t lie to me, Owen Collins. If you had a project that needed done tonight, then you’d be at home doing it.” Sure, Owen wasn’t that great at lie. It was very obviously not one of his talents. But even if he were the best liar in the world, Cade still would’ve been able to call that. Owen was a diligent, responsible, physics-loving young man. He wouldn’t wait until the last second to get something done and if on the off chance he did, then he’d be working on it. “You’ll have fun.” Cade was trying to coax Owen into thinking this was a good idea, because it was in the long run. Owen needed to get out of his shell. Maybe meeting a special girl would help him. And who knew, tonight could be the night. “You’ll meet una bella ragazza, just simply talk to her, maybe get her number. If you don’t want to be left alone, I can stay by your side all night. But trust me, there will be a point where you just want to shove me out of the way and get a few moments with said bella ragazza.” When Caden made a promise, he meant it. While he wanted to just go party the night away, he’d much rather make sure Owen was as happy as he possibly could be while being at the last place he wanted to find himself.

I'M THE NEW CANCER •• N E V E R • L O O K E D • B E T T E R •• A N D Y O U C A N ' T S T A N D I T- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Cade was the best type of friend, and therefore it was possible for Owen to both hate him and love him like the brother he felt like at the same time. How it was possible, he wasn't sure, but either way it did happen quite a bit. It happened when Cade made him do something he really didn't want to do, but then Owen ended up enjoying it in the long run. Course Cade went as far as to continue poking holes in his logic. Scowling, his mind working, Owen mused, "I wasn't hunting...my u-uncle dragged me along."
Blue eyes narrowed, he hated being left unable to think of something. This would be one of those times, and Cade would know it. Owen was always like that and probably always will be. He loves coming up with the answers, especially since most of the time they were easy, except when it came to social situations, Cade easily beat him in those parts. Cade was the type of guy when Owen had been in high school, would have definitely ignored Owen until finals or something, then he'd be all buddy-buddy with him. No, not that guy, Cade was too good for that, but he looked like one of those guys. Cade was the one who Owen would be like, "why are you talking to me?" and befriended him. He fell silent though, not wanting to fight with Cade over the excuses, at his other comment about letting him speak, Owen nodded, brushing aside some of his black hair, "Y-yeah...that sounds...good." Plus he just tended to make things awkward and take longer than absolutely needed, Cade could probably finish something in a minute that would take Owen five minutes dealing with getting out of something - and sometimes Owen didn't even get out of them. At Cade's snap though, he had realized that Cade had tried to make up for it. Owen would admit, he'd jumped ever so slightly, but his height probably helped keep him calm when Cade snapped. It wasn't the first time he'd done that, and it rarely happened, so Owen never took it too close to heart. It was just Cade, and everyone had bad emotions, Owen's just vanished quicker, and if he did have any, they would always be sure to show themselves on the full moon. Owen either way cursed his luck when Cade repeated he had to go. Scowling, the wolf crossed his arms and quickly shook his head, "And m-make a f-fool out of...myself?" he gave Cade a pathetic look when he looked back, like Cade was dragging him on a leash, and the collar was choking Owen's neck and his oxygen levels slightly, "I-I'm going to..." Another failed threat. Owen couldn't threaten people all that well, especially Cade, after all he was like the older brother Owen had had. Well, Aidan could be counted of course, but Cade made Owen do stuff to make him seem more...normal, Aidan just went with Owen and they did all their nerdy stuff together, sometimes Owen wondered if his parents were proud of him. The wolf arched an eyebrow when Cade stated his full name minus his middle name, and scowled. Course he couldn't lie, and if he did, the only people who ever believed his lies were either drunk, or just went along with the lie, not wanting to make any problems out of it. Luckily for Owen he rarely never confronted anyone, so he didn't need to worry about that. A pouting look fell on the college-student's features and he answered, "B-but...yeah, I just wanted to...e-explore here...before I-I worked on...it." Reluctantly following the blonde, moving smoothly once he started fully moving his body through the woods, Owen stuffed both his hands into the front pocket of his pants, bright blue eyes peering out at the world beneath his random mop of black hair. Have fun? Owen figured he'd have as much fun as a jock would in an advanced physics class. He growled quietly in disagreement, though nothing else left the wolf as they left the woods and entered the town and the area where the party was. Easily stepping up to Cade's side, "W-well...." he paused, looking away, "There's...t-there's uh girl...she's in my advanced geometric class..." It was true, Owen thought she was cute, plus she actually seemed to get the material enough too. Her name, he easily remembered was Lauren, and though one thought of a cheerleader at that name, she wasn't one, but she did do soccer in high school, now just focused on school. Grinning weakly, Owen then eyed Cade quietly as they approached the club, he could hear the music, and wrinkled his nose, "I...I can smell...the shame now." Owen sighed quietly, looking to Cade, attempting to convey a message in his eyes that read, "I hate this and you right now." though to Cade and in reality it was probably more like, "I can't believe I'm really here." instead. That was his luck. Owen eyed the guy at the front, and fished in his pockets awkwardly, before producing the invite, so they could get up to the VIP area where the party was said to be going on. The invite was taken, and Owen silently fell behind Cade, as if using him for a human - well - supernatural shield. Not that anyone in here could hurt either one of them, but Owen just felt better not going in first. He lingered outside for a moment, feeling like a puppy left out in the rain. Nibbling his bottom lip, Owen spoke to Cade, one last resort, "W-what if...all she sees in me...like the o-other girls..just...a f-friend..." he sighed quietly, eyes searching for Cade's, wanting reassurance, though he was sure he'd get it in some weird way. Inhaling slowly, as if not to faint, Owen shortly began to follow Cade, and instantly was slammed with a pudgent smell of alcohol and sweat. Lovely. Another reason why he was always so hesitant to go out to parties. Owen's endless stream of excuses ended and he spoke to Cade, knowing he'd hear him easily - he figured, "W-what...do..we do? Just...sit?" Wonderful, what did they do at parties anyway? Owen ran a hand through his hair nervously, before noticing a pair of girls looking towards them, though he figured they were looking to Caden, most of the time they were, while he - eagerly - shrunk to the background, "Want...a drink?" he looked to Caden, then the bar, then back to the blonde. Yeah, this was going to be interesting he figured. Owen was a master at the puppy dog face. Cade almost felt bad for dragging him to the party. He almost hesitated, almost said ‘let’s just forget the whole thing’. Almost. That was the key word in the statement because while he knew Owen didn’t want to be there, it was good for him to get out and socialize. Though he should take pride in knowing that, while Cade rarely fell for the puppy dog look – simply because when you used it too much you began to look through other people’s – he almost did. Besides, Owen then made an attempt at threatening him, something that Owen wasn’t very good at in general, and Caden’s decision was solidified. They were going to go to this party and Cade was going to make sure that Owen had a good time. He wouldn’t even begin to worry about himself until he saw Owen smile instead of uncomfortably standing in the corner. Caden had this theory that he just needed to get used to social events, talking to people he didn’t know. He had to quit worrying about making a fool of himself. Owen would become relaxed and more open to new things. All he needed was the slight kick in the right direction and Cade was more than willing to help him out on that front.
Again, the wolf tried to lie about the physics project, and Caden just gave him a look. It was one that parents gave children when they knew that the child was outright lying. The one that said ‘I know you’re not telling the truth, but I’m going to give you a chance to stop while you’re ahead’. Owen didn’t lie, or at least not very convincingly, and Caden wished he’d stop. He wasn’t meant to lie; it wasn’t in the wolf’s nature. There were those who knew nothing but how to lie and then those who were too good to do so. Owen was the second type, through and through, and Cade preferred it that way. It was such a nice change from a world where all people did was lie; lie to their partners to keep them happy, lied to themselves to make things seem better than they were, lied to get ahead. They lied because it was easier to do so than face the truth. But Owen didn’t fall in that category, nor should he.
The second a girl was mentioned, Caden knew he had Owen. Maybe the wolf didn’t realize it, but Cade had. “That’s a good start,” the fallen angel commented. And it was, really. All he had to do was find this girl, get Owen to start talking to her. It’d probably be easier if he knew the girl already anyhow. Then there wasn’t that whole “stranger” aspect to the conversation. Some people had no problems with that while others couldn’t handle it. With that gone, hopefully Owen could relax – if only slightly – and enjoy talking to said girl. Start small and work his way up. Owen could do this if he put his mind to it. Of course, if he tried to resist every step of the way, things would be more difficult. Caden could see him doing just that, too. Since Caden had no idea who the girl actually was, it wouldn’t be hard for Owen to chicken out at the last moment and say that she wasn’t at the party or some equally lame excuse. If that happened though, the blonde wouldn’t let it drop and would go find some other girl to make Owen try to hold a conversation with. It was the wolf’s choice really.
He waited patiently while Owen gave the bouncer his invitation, waiting for the wolf to try to make one last attempt at an escape while they were still outside the club. Caden hadn’t been expecting the question that Owen asked next, though he should’ve. Guaranteed there were all sorts of worried and anxious thoughts bouncing around in his head and it was only normal to voice one or two of those. Cade clasped Owen’s shoulder and looked the wolf in the eyes. “If that happens, then she was obviously blind and not worth it.” Owen was a great kid, and Caden wasn’t sure why people just couldn’t seem to see that. As Owen had pointed out, girls always seemed to just look at him like a friend rather than in a romantic way, and he just couldn’t understand it. If girls weren’t so oblivious, they’d realize that Owen was a good guy. Maybe he wasn’t giving off the right vibes. That could definitely be a reason. If Owen were too worried about making a fool of himself, then he didn’t think about other things. Things that girls picked up on and decided whether or not a guy was interested in her. Owen needed someone who was patient enough to ignore his initial awkwardness and get to know him.
Caden wasn’t surprised when Owen moved behind him as they entered the club, like he was hiding. He didn’t bother to address it, figuring it’d be best to let Owen do whatever he was comfortable with to start things off. Blue eyes scanned the club, taking in his surroundings. The blonde almost didn’t hear Owen’s inquiry about what they were supposed to do. “Of course you don’t just sit,” Cade said, taking one more glance around the club before looking back to Owen. “You dance, talk to people, and have fun.” Which Owen was going to do, like it or not. The blonde made eye contact with two girls who were off to one side, their attention directed towards him and the wolf. Caden sent a smile their way, acknowledging them, and then heading off to the bar. He was hoping they’d come talk to him and Owen, not because he was all that interested in either of the girls, but figured it might be a good way to being the night. “Drinks sound good,” he agreed with Owen. Maybe with a little alcohol in his system, Owen would loosen up a bit.

I'M THE NEW CANCER •• N E V E R • L O O K E D • B E T T E R •• A N D Y O U C A N ' T S T A N D I T- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dammit, it hadn't worked. The puppy dog face worked a lot, though usually it worked better on professors or students he wanted to get out of talking to. But no, unfortunately Cade was rarely fooled, and Owen felt like Cade was the older brother to him just like Aidan was. Curse his luck. Scowling slightly, he narrowed his eyes towards the fallen angel, as if trying to figure out what was going through his head. Cade was the type of guy that Owen was not only jealous of, but it really got him irked a lot too. How Cade could be so...suave in a sense. Yes, how he just seemed to glide through life, granted he had all the time in the world, he knew Cade wasn't more than 110 or so years old, so maybe it just came with practice? Well, Owen was 22, which meant by most standards he should have had like around four longer-term girlfriends. Yeah right, he'd had one girlfriend in his entire life. Scowling slightly, Owen eyed Caden, noticing the look he was on the receiving end of. Oh yeah, another thing Owen knew about Cade, was that if the fallen angel decided to give someone a look, they always got the message. Owen was just glad he was never - or probably should never receive a deadly look, since he knew that meant death most likely for said person. The worst look he'd probably get would be something like that, something along the lines of knock it off because you're horrible at it. He'd been told before he was a horrible liar. Pausing, Owen mused, "I.."
he was going to see what else he may be able to come up with, but once the look that Cade had given him fully sunk in, the wolf decided not to try and push his luck, figuring Cade could probably put a choke collar - figuratively speaking - around him and reign him in. Shaking that thought off, Owen then tensed when he noticed Cade's look and something flash in his eyes. What-ever it was, Owen immediately didn't trust it, his instincts told him to be wary, and to just shut his stupid mouth. Grinding his teeth together, he felt his canines elongate slightly from the stress and he brushed aside his black hair, inhaling slowly and receiving a heavy amount of alcohol to cloud his mind for a brief moment. Wrinkling his nose, Owen spoke, "W-what if she isn't....here?" He inquired, the innocence falling into his voice, though his mind was already at work. If Cade didn't know her - which Owen was praying he didn't, then he could just fib and say he didn't see her, that she wasn't at this party. Unfortunately that would mean Owen would probably be forced to speak to a girl he didn't know. Growling softly, Owen sent a look to the back of Cade's head, before he quickly wiped it off. No, he loved Cade like his older brother, and he knocked it off, though ended it with jabbing Cade in the back - mainly because he could, and he felt like it. Owen's eyes followed Cade's for a moment as they entered the club, and he gestured towards where some girls were heading towards a door, "T-that's w-where....she said..it would be." he spoke solemnly, eyes flashing around the club, noting all the people - and even some supernaturals he could smell as well. One of the easiest ones to spot were other werewolves and vampires, mainly because vampires smelled sickly and like blood. The moment Cade touched Owen once more, for some weird reason, he could feel his self-esteem plummet. Whatever the reason was, it did, and Owen sighed solemnly as Cade spoke to him, reassuring him. About to make a remark, Owen's eyes noticed the two girls looking their way and he swore slightly, surprising himself even. Wide-eyed when that four letter word starting with "s" escaped his lips, he paused and eyed Cade, before whispering, knowing he'd hear him just fine, "That's...Lauren and...her friend...Kayla." Lauren was the brunette with the highlights in her hair, but Owen wasn't going to tell Cade that. He didn't want to give him any more information so that he could use it against him. Cade was a great guy, but when he made him do stuff he didn't want to do, most of the time Owen hated him during it, but in the end when everything worked out, Owen always made it a point to tell Cade thank you for it. Cringing slightly at the mention of drinks, Owen eyed the bartender and looked to Cade, sighing, "Fine...w-we're here...m-might as well.." he ordered two drinks, one for himself and one for Cade, sliding it across the bar to the blonde next to him. Who knew, he thought, maybe another reason why girls suddenly spotted Cade was that dashing blonde hair, while Owen's was the exact opposite, a pitch black. His face scowled slightly, though he just brushed it off. Suddenly, he felt someone touch his back. Who-ever it had been, Owen tensed, having been leaning against the bar when Lauren appeared by him, Kayla by her, eyes smiling towards Caden lightly. Lauren grinned her toothy grin, eying both of the boys, her eyes remained on Owen for a moment longer, "Hello, Owen...didn't think you were going to make it. Glad you brought a friend." Lauren offered a hand to Cade, Owen noticing how she had leaned lightly towards the blonde with him, though her body was still more towards him. Wonderful. Owen shot Cade a look over the girls' heads as Lauren then spoke towards Owen, "You just get here then?" Owen nodded silently, then inquired, after pausing a moment, "Y-yeah...can...I get you a...drink?" the girl grinned and nodded, asking for a martini or something, before Owen looked to Cade, as if seeking for reassurance, like a dog would when it was doing a new trick. Practically feeling like if he had a tail, it would be wagging a mile a minute, Owen spoke to Lauren, eyes lingering on Cade for a moment, "Y-you...going up..to the VIP...room?" Lauren grinned, "Yeah, you and your friend want to join us? Have some drinks and stuff?" Owen could already feel the alcohol begin to take effect in his body, and he gave Cade a look that read, "I know your plan now. You suck."
