ICC box! WOO

Well, the title explains basically what my little ole suggestion is XD
an ICC box - in character chat
Yeah...so...it'd be fun to have...and would be cool...and i dont know what else to say...so...yeah...

I disagree and I don' think we should have one for many reasons. The first being that people get addicted and then never thread which is terrible for this wonderful site. Also it can get plots all confused if your trying to thread and icc. There are more but im simply too tired to remember them but I don't want an icc box because it ruins sites and you know that Ally. You've seen first hand what an icc box can do to a site. I highly disagree with idea because I think it will make the site worse and I would hate for that to happen.

It's a good thought, and I understand that there are those people who would easily balance the ICC box and rping threads, but like most things in life- it is ruined by those who can't. If EVERYONE balances it and ONE perosn doesn't, it becomes a problem. Its a huge bummer because I agree that the ICC would be fun to have for when say all posts are caught up but you still want to rp. c:

(You may notice the garrett hedlund icon in the admin section and yes, that is me) You can peek around and notice theres only a total of... what five threads? If you read them you'll also see all the plots are in the middle! Like my charrie, Jacky Holster Burkie, and another Nina Dobrev Carmena De Ruiz's thread is where they've already met and started liking each other. This is because the admin and I went on MSN ALL the time because she INSISTED on it. As you can see, I got frustrated and left. Because I wanted to RP not chat. This is worst case scenario of course, but this is possible. We don't want that for this lovely site <33

I can see both sides of the ICC box. Especially since I've had experiences with it, it was on one site, and we were all pretty advanced players, so we handled it just fine - which I'm proud about, the site ended belly up due to the admin had major personal problems. <3

What I can think of since we have all levels here, is maybe we can do it for a test run? Maybe try it out and see how it goes? We can also see what Jurate thinks about it, but it's one little wrong tip and the site goes. o.o Or perhaps try it for a day and see how it goes with everything, but I know personally I'm fine without it, if we need to, we could do a separate board for quick little plots like that - i.e. the plot board.

And Em, it's weird, I left that site for the same reason, due to always playing things out in IM.

Let's all see what Jurate has, I know I'm wary about it, so I'd probably say no. <33

Ah, right, personally, I never ever use the ICC boxes on any site ever. I don't know how to use them, and I never bothered to try because I was content with RPing. However, the simplest way to deal with this is, I will put an in character chat box up for THREE days. And then, we will see how it goes, how popular it is, and how much people thread with it around. After three days, I will ask you lot what you thought, and whether we should keep it, whether you are able to keep up with threads and not get confused in plots...

Does this seem okay to you all? Cause I can definitely see both sides of the argument, but I am willing to give it a trial run. (:

I don't want to sound like the bitch here or like I'm running the show, but I love this site and I'm terrified of what could happen if we got an ICC box. I know that's dramatic, but on the first site I ever went on that had an ICC I loved the ICC and everyone else did. I loved the site too. They had nice admins, nice plot, and great graphics. They posted often too, but once we all found out that it was easier to rp out your plots on the ICC box everyone stopped posting. I swear no one was posting. I had open threads, but no one posted so what did it matter? I soon went with it and just used the ICC box. We did little plots and big plots and soon the admins that I love got angry with us. They said that big plots had to be rped out. My little group of five that used the ICC box the most for our lots was not happy with this and rebelled. We made a separate ICC box for ourselves whenever things got bad or something. Then the admins were so angry that no one was threading that the main admin said that everything that wasn't threaded didn't count for anything meaning that a plots that we had been doing for months were gone. All gone. My little group got so angry that we simply just continued our whole plot on our own ICC box. One of the people in my group who was close with the admins told them about our secret ICC box and we got a somewhat nasty pm from one of the admins saying that they new. We continued to use our secret ICC box until one of the admins was misinformed and heard that one of the members in our group was under thirteen when she was actually thirteen. Because of this false information that member of our group was deleted. We were angry and we had a shouting match in a facebook chat room. I thankfully had left early due to family issues and was not part of this, but because of that shouting match two people got banned. One of the admins cried and none of us were liked anymore. Throughout this I hated the admins even though they were all once my friends and I love them. In the end we made our own site with a new plot, but because we only icc on that we're dying with almost no threads and now no one wants to even ICC. So basically I came to Nightmare hoping that this would never happen. This is my experience with an ICC box and I don't want it to ever happen again. If you do choose to still make the ICC box then okay it's your decision and I totally understand. I'll still love you all, but I strongly encourage you not to make it even for three days. I think that was just because a few people made a bunch of bad mistakes and it doesn't mean that anything that dramatic would happen here, but it's whatever, it was just a little ole suggestion to see what other people thought...Either way it desn't matter to me

I know Ally I know, but you remember how bad it was? I just really didn't want history to repeat itself. I know that I have an addictive personality because well I'm addicted to this site and roleplaying and what not. I just don't want some members to get caught up in it and some don't and then plots never get done...

I know what you mean though, and thats why im partially agreeing with you. And i'd definitely go back and change what happened, too, but since we can't do anything about it but learn, i guess havin an icc for only meaningless things could kinda work, but then people would probs abuse it...then something sorta like that could happen again...idk we could have a poll if that could like make everyone;s opinion more...proportional? idk i cant think, im too tired

I think the trail run is a great idea c: Think of this way everyone- if the ICC doesn't work out, we still have IM threads XD That's what they are are, just not as quick as responses haha I'm sorry to hear that happened Holly. That sounds pretty bad. I don't think that will happen on the merge of three days.

I love the idea of the trial run ^^ I definitely think it will be good and this way we can see how it goes, but also make sure that we keep threading. <33

So yeah, just saw this whole discussion. XD I'm not a big fan of ICC myself mainly for the same reasons as everyone else who isn't but I do agree a trial run can't hurt.

I had the same thing happen on another site, Em. Ended up ruining the place and it just sort of died. I never really got into ICC with my charries but I can see the appeal.

Oh wow, Holly, it is horrible what happened :\ But I think we should do the three days, see if people do post less, and in three days I'll remove it then we'll see if we can keep it without posting kind of lessening? Personally, I don't use ICC. And we should make like a couple of rules like all major plots must be in threads or whatever? Idk.. tell me what you think?
