[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I TRY TO BE SILENT, BUT MY WORDS EXPLODE LIKE HAND GRENADES The Words: 577 The Outfit: goes here The Notes HOPE IT’S OKAY! Riley was bored. This usually didn’t happen when he was alone because it was easy for him to entertain himself. He was just sitting in his kitchen with nothing to do except blast music. He was playing some hardcore band he couldn’t remember the name of, but he nodded his head to the screaming and guitar. He rested his hip against the counter and crossed his arms. He wondered if there was something to do around here. Surely he could find something, but what? Manuka was pretty expansive with random shit to do, but he had already done them all. He could go to the club. Riley looked over at the microwave and saw that it was only 8:37. Shit. he thought. It was also a Monday night, so no one would really be at the club right now. He wouldn’t go to the pub now either, because he didn’t have the urge to drink.
He didn’t want to be with a bunch of drunk people either, so maybe he could just go walking around town until something finally caught his interest. He was in fact in almost the center of town, so something was bound to catch his attention. He went to his bedroom and threw on a black t-shirt and a pair of nice fitted jeans. After putting on some shoes, he went to the kitchen and turned off all of the lights and the music. With a long sigh he went outside. He hoped that something would spark his interest because he really didn’t want to be home alone.
Riley went outside and looked around for a second before deciding that the old town might have something exciting for him. Usually he would’ve gone to the city but today he felt like the town might have something for him. Riley walked with his hands in his pockets. He noticed people around him, some with their kids, and others by themselves, like him. In front of him, he saw one child walking out into the street and the boy’s mother was too busy talking on the phone to realize that he was about to get hit by a car. Riley instinctively rushed forward and grabbed the kid by the arm and quickly yanked him back onto the sidewalk. The woman on the phone turned and Riley didn’t let her speak. “Lady! Watch your kid instead of talking on the fucking phone!” he gave her a disgusted look and shoved the kid back to his mother. He walked away as the child started to cry from the yelling. Some people shouldn’t be allowed to have kids. It was ridiculous the idiocy of humans.
Riley huffed and continued walking. He saw the place where he used to take girls when he was a teenager to drink and smoke. He hadn’t been back there since he was about eighteen. He wondered if it was the same, or if two short years had changed it at all. He looked behind him to see if anyone was there, but no one was around. He walked back behind the bike sheds. For some reason just being back there made him want to smoke or drink or something. He knew of a little trail that lead a path back to where a small cliff overlooked a city over. He walked behind all of the trees and sat on a boulder that looked at the bright lights. So much for not being alone.

you got a lot to prove Since she had left Manuka and finally come back, her welcoming experience was not good. Giselle had left Manuka for three years, in attempt to escape her problems and an unhealthy relationship with Damon Ellis, a firetamer. Now since she had came back, she was once again greeted by the bitterness of her ex. She had a small reunion with her ex and it did not go very well. They both ended up yelling, screaming, flinging insults and placing the blame of downfall of their relationship on each other. Either way, all she could say was that she honestly, didn't plan it that way. She didn't even think she'd see Damon still here in Manuka. No. He was supposed to be gone. Fate had a strange, cruel way of working, throwing two lovers together for a bitter reunion. What was this? Entertainment?
It was evident that the duo both still had feelings for each other. It was clear. It was obvious. The had deeply missed each other, even thought they were hurt and it did not take a rocket scientist to figure that out. They - well she kissed him, but he returned the kiss with an equal amount of passion, and if not, more. You couldn't kiss someone like that and not want them or have some sort of feelings, right? Right? But them getting back together was a recipe for destruction and drama. So they both came to the conclusion to stay friends instead of ignoring each other all together. She wasn't going to be leaving anytime soon. And she didn't want it to be awkward whenever she ran into Damon. So friends, they shall be. And that is all they will ever be. Or that's what she planned anyways.
Friends. How stupid. They both planned to stay friends, yet it didn't work very well. since she's been here, she had seen Damon several times. Friends my ass. More like ignoring each other, even if tat was not they wanted. They just stared out each other stupidly and in jealousy if they had some kind of 'date'. It wasn't a glare, nor was it just ignoring each other, refusing eye contact, they just either stared or gave fleeting glances. They didn't even exchange words after their argument, they didn't even greet each other.
Her footsteps loudly echoed across the empty night, she wandered around this area in hope to see Damon once more and actually get to talk to with him, minus the screaming and accusations. She had come here several times, either wanting to spend from time alone to think or to find him. But nonetheless, it was almost of if he was dodging this area, knowing that she would be there. She turned so now she was behind the bikesheds, where she and Damon used to hangout. They had dubbed it their area. Most days, she would have seen nothing or no one here, but instead, today, there was someone. There was someone here. How unexpected.
Only her gray eyes saw someone, but that someone was not Damon Ellis. It was another Ellis. Another familiar face. One which had belong to his younger brother, Riley. Oh yes, she remembered him. One year younger than the both of them and would make some kind of stupid comment to kill the moment whenever her and Damon were intimate. She knew Riley because well she was dating Damon for a long time and many time he had brought her home to his family. Apparently, him and Damon were close too, just like how Damon was close with Aphrodite. Shit. Shit. Shit. Turn around. Get away from here. She didn't want to hear more accusations from someone that was once close to her. She didn't want to blamed for leaving. She didn't want anymore of that. She already had to live with the guilt that was slowly eating her away. She didn't need anymore of it.
"Well shit." Giselle said abruptly, blurting it out.Well shit? What kind of greeting way that? Oh god. She wanted to run and hide. A terrible habit she had, doing shit without thinking. Moments later, she slapped her hand over her mouth stupidly. Of course, she turned around to leave, hoping to go unnoticed, but Riley would notice that someone was here since her heels were obnoxiously making a loud sound, making it very clear that someone was here.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I TRY TO BE SILENT, BUT MY WORDS EXPLODE LIKE HAND GRENADES The Words: 825 The Outfit: goes here The Notes hope it's okay, and if something with their story needs to be changed, I can fix it (:
Riley was good at being alone. The only problem with that was the fact that it was hard for him to ever stay alone. Even if he was sometimes “closed off” to people, there was always someone new that he was meeting. Sometimes he wished people in Manuka weren’t so damn friendly and in your business. It was basically like a small town in that people were always asking for your name or talking to you at random times, but the population was so huge. He had liked living in L.A. for the year he did because people there never talked to you. They were all too damn busy caring about what they looked like to start a conversation with a stranger. Unfortunately though, he had met another firetamer and things quickly spiraled downward. She had gotten him into different types of drugs and made his drinking much heavier. After a while, Riley had started hating himself and everything she had let him become, so he dumped her and moved back to Manuka for rehabilitation. The withdraw from the drugs was a lot harder than he would ever let anyone know, but he had gotten better, and was now sober with only one relapse. He was proud that he could get over the addiction.
As he sat alone on the giant rock, he could hear footsteps getting closer. He knew sooner or later, someone would discover him. He didn’t turn around to see who it was, but waited to see if they would say something. He heard the curse come out of her mouth and knew right away who the owner of that voice was. He had heard her say that exact thing more than once. Riley turned his head and saw Giselle turn to stalk away. He slid off of the rock and faced the human. “Giselle.” He said in a shocked voice, loud enough for her to hear. He hadn’t seen his brother’s ex-girlfriend for quite some time. It had been years. He had no idea she was even back in Manuka. She had dated his older brother Damon for a long time. They had broken up after Damon’s stupid ass told her about how he and the rest of his family was a firetamer. Then he burned her house down accidentally. It was an idiotic thing to do, but he knew Damon was unable to control the fire that had set her home into flames. The only problem was that Giselle didn’t know that. She had believed that Damon had done it purposefully. She had fled Manuka to get away from everyone and everything. Or that’s what he had gathered from it all. He still wasn’t sure.
Honestly, Giselle was one of the only humans that he could stand to be around. He liked that she never took shit from anyone. She was nice when her walls were finally broken down, but still, she was guarded. Riley was the same. That’s why it was so hard for the two to actually ensue in conversation for a while. And the fact that she wasn’t a supernatural didn’t make him want to talk to her. But Damon had assured him that she was different. Then one day Damon had told him he loved her. He was slightly shocked. Damon, mister badass, in love with someone. A human no less. Riley then had no choice but to be friendly with the girl. And then he had found that he actually liked her, too. She was actually a cool girl. But, just like he knew in the back of his mind, Damon fucked it all up. He went and informed Giselle of their species and everything happened. And she left not only Damon, but him, too. He had become friends with her. Even though he wasn’t nearly as hurt as Damon, Riley was the one that had to see Damon doing nothing but drink and drown his sorrows in alcohol and random women. He was the one going out of his way to make sure Damon didn’t do something stupid. Not Giselle.
Some of that anger began to rise again as he looked at her. He didn’t want to be a flat out mean person to her, because he understood why she had left. It didn’t change the fact that she had rejected his species and called them freaks. It almost hurt knowing that she didn’t accept Damon anymore just because he wasn’t human. Because that meant she didn’t accept him, either. Whatever. He didn’t care anymore. He just knew that she was back, and he now had to deal with that. Somehow. He didn’t know what to do or what to say. He was so confused.
Riley crossed his arms over his chest and clenched his jaw making sure nothing harsh was said. “When did you get back?” he asked. He stood there silently waiting for her answer. To see if she even would answer.

you got a lot to prove I-If Damon was a firetamer then that meant the rest of his family was just like him. That meant Riley was able to create and manipulate flames like Damon was able to. All of the Ellis’ could. The thought was absolutely unnerving and unsettling. After Damon and the incident, Giselle had developed a fear for flames or fire. She couldn't stand the sight of it anymore, the sight of the powerful, vicious flames eating away at an object until it was replaced it ashes. Every single time, the sudden fear throbbed through her body, causing her to immediately freeze up in fear and play dumb. Why? Because she knew she was powerless against such a force. There was no way she was able to stop it. And she was well aware of that too.
She whipped around at the sound of her name coming from the Ellis member. It was just an instinct to do so, to respond to someone who had called you by your own name. Cover blown. He had noticed her, maybe it was her footsteps, maybe it was the sound of her voice. Either way, something had given her presence away. Her gray eyes flicked towards Riley, who had seemed to recognize her. Curiously, she took a look at Riley, hoping to get some read on his facial reaction. She tried to decipher his emotions by his facial reaction of the tone of his voice. But she got nothing but confusion curiosity; he was wondering why she was here or even wondering why the hell she decided to show her face right now. The same reaction when everyone found out she had come back. That same reaction Damon had when he had laid his eyes on her.
She took a deep breath. “Hello Riley.” She said in a simple greeting. She then began to nervously chew on her bottom lip, to calm down her nerves. Whenever she got too....overwhelmed, her mind began to play tricks on her. She thought of a situation ten times worse than it really was or she had the tendency to jump to conclusions. Both terrible habits she had, but couldn’t stop. No matter how much she wanted it to. He must be so angry at her, so pissed, so enraged. He had a right to do so. He had every single right at hold some kind of grudge towards her. He had every right to hate her guts, after what she had done. He must be so furious at her, for calling not only Damon, but his entire species a 'freak' or 'monster'. Then the same must have applied to Riley. She had demanded that they should stay away from her. Just to leave her alone to be and live her life without them.
Why the hell did she do that? Why did she do something so terrible in the past? Why? She had left them. She had abandoned them. Since then, something inside her felt empty and hollow, like it was waiting to be filled once more with the joys in her life, which she had now discarded. There was nothing left for her. Maybe there were some, but the main reasons that made her happy. It was all gone. Hell. She had her reasons for doing what she had done. She was so scared. She was so young, so confused and didn't know what to do. But now, she simply regretted what she had done. The only problem was, she couldn’t turn back time or try to go back to fix everything. To not repeat the same mistake she did years ago. Instead, Giselle was trying to mend the problems by trying to fix up the present.
Instead of slamming her with questions or insults or even blaming her for leaving them, Riley just asked a simply question. When did she get back? What a simple question indeed. It was nothing overwhelming to her. Unlike Damon, after he caught her attention, he literally asked her, what the hell she was doing here. And just that like, their conversation ignited into flames, not literally, but you know what I mean. Hopefully, she was crossing her fingers that the same would not happen with his little encounter with Riley. She prayed and prayed mentally that this would not be a bad outcome. She hoped her wouldn’t have to live with more blame placed on her shoulder or even have more guilt that was eating her away slowly.
“Not too long ago.” She answered his question, dismissing it with a simple shrug. Nervously, the female rubbed the back of her neck with her fingertips, trying calm herself down or go at ease. But it didn't work. Her muscles were tensed and her heart was slamming against her chest. She was scared, terrified or what was going to happen. In all truth and honestly, Giselle didn’t know what to even say, what to do or even how to react to this little run in with Riley. Even apologizing to Damon, admitted she was wrong, it was one of the most difficult things she had ever done in her life. It was the same with a couple of other run in with former faces. Most of the time, people were freaked out or shocked about her reappearance in Manuka. That a girl like her dared to show her face back in the city after what she had done. What a brave soul. She didn't know what to say or how to act, but instead, she went with her gut feeling or instinct and tried to avoid any conflict. She didn't want to get into more trouble than she had already gotten in, in the present and the past.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I TRY TO BE SILENT, BUT MY WORDS EXPLODE LIKE HAND GRENADES The Words: 896 The Outfit: goes here The Notes HOPE IT’S OKAY!
Riley stared at his brother’s ex-girlfriend with a mostly blank face. He didn’t want her to think that he had any kind of emotion seeing her. He knew exactly how her first seeing Damon had gone. He didn’t want any kind of pitiful fight to happen between the two because he knew there was nothing more that either of them would rather do less than fight with the another. He had no intentions of automatically throwing blames on her like she had done everything wrong because he knew very well that that was not the case. In fact, he blamed most of the events on his brother, not that it had done anything to jeopardize their relationship. Just because he wasn’t great at firetaming didn’t mean that he should hate his brother. Riley had once been out of control of his manipulation of fire, but after many hours working on it with his brother he was able to control it very well. Just like Damon was now, too.
Giselle had said that she had gotten to town not too long ago, which told him basically nothing. He spit out a harsh laugh. “And that would be how long? a week, two?” he asked in a distant tone. It wasn’t that he cared about the exact date that she had arrived, but the way she had said it made it seem like it wasn’t even a big deal. In his mind it was. He had kind of waited for her to come back. Not in that creepy type of way, but he knew that eventually she would come back to Manuka. It was kind of obvious that she would. To Riley at least. When Damon had come to him to tell him what had happened, Damon was completely shocked about it all while Riley sat there thinking to himself that he had been right all along. And Riley couldn’t blame Damon for being surprised. The girl he had basically loved had forsaken him and called him, as well as the rest of his family, a freak. Riley could understand his utter confusion.
Riley had wondered when the day would come when he would finally see her again. He had thought of a few things to say to her even, but he could not recall a single one of them. They were mostly mean things, things that would make her just as angry as he was—or had been when he had thought of them. He didn’t want to be mean or harsh towards her now though, it was much different than he thought it would be. He thought he would be furious when he saw her, completely outraged with the fact that she had abandoned his family. But alas, he was neither. He actually didn’t really feel anything. It was as if his heart had grown a shell around it and no longer hurt thinking about the prior events. It was like nothing had ever happened. He had nothing to say anymore to her than to ask when she had gotten here. He couldn’t just see her and feel that old hatred, but he couldn’t feel that love that he had had for her either. It was like she was a stranger to him, someone he had nothing for and someone he could care less about.
If it were up to him though, things would be different. In all honesty, he really wished that everything was different. If he could, he would go back in time and stop Damon from being stupid and telling her that he was a firetamer. Somehow he would get him to not say anything at all. Somehow. But nothing of a such was possible, so he had to think about what to do in the present. He didn’t really know exactly what to say to Giselle, but the silence was so think you could slice it with a knife. If she wasn’t going to say something, he had to. The silence needed to disappear or he would go crazy. He sighed trying to bring the right words together. He saw that she was nervous. “I know you’re probably frightened, but you shouldn’t be.” He said calmly. “I’m not going to hurt you or anything.” Riley didn’t think he would ever be able to hut her. No matter what happened in the past, she was too good of a person, for a human, to ever harm.
She was probably the only human he would ever give another chance. But he didn’t know yet if he was going to be able to give her that second chance. Things were obviously still awkward, and both had things to say to the other, no matter how harsh they might be. He wanted so badly to just yell at her everything that she had done. He wanted to yell at her and blame her for everything that she had done. He wanted to tell her to go back to wherever she came from. But if he did, he would feel terrible about it afterwards. He couldn’t do that no matter how much he felt the need to do so. He sighed once more getting out all of the angry emotions building up inside of him. He needed to stay calm for the sake of both Giselle and himself. A few deep breaths and he would be fine.

you got a lot to prove The moment he questioned her, wondering how long she had been back, the female felt her fingers twitch in annoyance. His voice sounded distant and emotionless. It just sounded like this was a interrogation between a person of authority and a suspect. There was no personal feelings attached nor was there even the slighest bit of a connection. "Why do you even care?" She heard herself say in a cold, questioning voice. She felt her temper boil over the brim slowly, a terrible quality that she picked up from being around Damon so much. Why did it tick her off so much? Why was just being here, standing in front of Riley getting her so mad? Why did it bother her so much? Maybe it was because he was acting so distant; like there was no connection or friendship between them, His tone of voice was teetering off the line of sounding like a pure stranger. It just ticked her off that he was pretending as if nothing had happened.
Throughout the four years she had dated Damon, of course she had met the younger brother. She remember how she felt when Damon explained to her that she was going to bring her to meet his 'best friend'. She could literally feel her nervousness rise up towards the surface and it was just moments before she felt like she was going to pass out. She knew how important a best friend was to a guy. It was like bromance. Minus the romance of course. The human female wanted to make a good impression so badly. She urged herself to put on her best behavior and act like a good missy, even though she was not one. She remember meeting Riley and immediately dropping the 'good girl' act and let herself..well, be herself around him. After that day, she knew she had left a good impression on Riley, which meant she had gotten somewhat of an approval for being Damon's girlfriend.
Riley and Giselle, they got along just fine. Really. They did. They actually clicked better than she would have expected. Maybe it was her paranoia spiking by and coming into play. A terrible habit she had; making events or situations seem a whole bunch worse in her head than what they were in person. You see, they got along. Actually, they were very close with each other. Well, he was that younger brother who bust into the room when they two were making out and he would just shatter the moment on purpose. But still, Giselle viewed him as the younger brother which she had never had. In the four years she was in his life, she had played the sisterly role (alongside Aphrodite) to Riley. It just came to her so naturally to be protective of Riley and be a sister figure since she spent so much time around him.
Now, there was nothing between them but tension that was still starting to form between them. But how can you blame them? All of what they had was tossed into the trash the moment she decided to leave Manuka. When she left, she not only left the past, she left everything else in Manuka; relationships, friends, a future she hoped t to have. She had left it all. He probably hated her for breaking his brother's heart; ripping it out of his chest and stomping all over it like it was nothing. And she was terrified of him because he was able to manipulate flames whenever he wanted to. Plus, the thought of being a human torch was not one bit appealing to her. Her pale pink lips opened in shock when he stated that she was terrified of him. Was it really written all over her face that she was terrified of Riley or even better, the whole Ellis family? Was it that obvious that Riley would say it straight off the bat that she was terrified of him? Oh hell no. Or did he just know that she had developed a fear of fire since Damon burned down her house? Either way, she mind was starting to run wild and play tricks on her, listing the millions of things that could happen to her right now.
Suddenly her walls came tumbling down the moment Riley stated that he was not going to hurt her. She almost felt like a big weight was lifted off her shoulders. She didn't expect him to say something like that. Giselle might have felt a little more comfortable around him. Did he mean that physically or emotionally? She didn't want to get burn by the flames that were able to spur into life the moment he wanted to. "...You're..not?" She asked hesitatingly. Her tone of voice was uneven and even, confused. She didn't know what to say or how to react. But seconds later, the human mentally braced herself for what was to come. For a split second, she let herself falter, but she wouldn't allow herself do that once more.
She folded her arms over her chest and glared at him, narrowing her eyes the slightest bit. Surely he had more in store for her then what had just happened in the past couple of minutes. He was a little..too calm or forgiving. She would have expected a terribly different turn of events or something bad to happen cause that's it always was; once something seemed to have turn out well, something comes to ruin it all. "That's all?" She questioned him accusingly. Really. She had expected more from him. More yelling. More accusations. More blame placed on her. She deserved it. Or that's what she had learned to accept slowly over time. "You're not going to yell at me or blame me for everything like Damon did?" She asked, bringing it up that she had an encounter with Damon since she had been back in Manuka. She wasn't sure if Riley knew whether that event had happened or not.
