After spending several centuries alone and wandering as much as he has he secretly longs for a family of his own but he doesn't trust himself to protect them since he failed his biologically family so badly. His past has definitely influenced his personality. To repent for his sins Darren has tried to protect and help as many people as he could through his immortal life. He tends to be very old fashioned. He believes that woman should be cared for and protected. He believes that children should be obedient and respectful. They way things are in these modern times really bothers him. He loved living in the fifties because that time was so family orientated and gender roles were so clearly defined. He's not sexist in any way. He respects woman and their own personal strength and rights but he feels that as a man it's his job to protect and care for any woman in his life. He hasn't been around children much because he's so impatient and has such a temper that he doesn't think he would be a very good parent. As much as he longs for a family of his own he's afraid to love anyone because he's immortal and he's afraid of losing someone that he loves.

The only love in his life as the moment is his bike. He has a 2012 Harley Davidson Road King (here) that he purchased in early 2011 before it was available to the public. Being as wealthy as he is he can afford to purchase things so far ahead of time. He loves to drive his bike on long trips just to clear his head and think. He doesn't like to have a destination. He just likes to get on and go.

Darren inherited his father's artistic ability and loves to draw. He keeps several drawing books and journals of his work from over the years. He's very possessive about his drawings and doesn't share them with anyone. He keeps to himself a lot and doesn't have a lot of friends. He's not too unfriendly but he's quiet and cautious and careful about who he lets into his life.

Darren was born April 7, 1511 in Rome, Italy. This father was a successful artist that was often commissioned by wealthy citizens of the city they lived in. Over time his father was able to amass a substantial amount of money. Darren did have a sister that was about ten years younger than himself but given that Darren was the first born and their only son Darren stood to inherit his father's fortune upon his father's death. Darren had gambling and drinking problems which caused him to owe huge amounts of money that he couldn't pay off on his own.

There was a local man in town that had a reputation for being a thug. Darren approached him about having his father murdered so that Darren could get his father's money. The man told Darren that he would have to promise his immortal soul as payment and since Darren wasn't a very spiritual man he agreed. He didn't think that was such a great price to pay. It turns out that Darren's mother tried to save her husband and was killed as well. Darren made sure he wasn't home that night but his sister was. Since she was the only surviver of the attack suspicion fell on her. Darren found that very convenient and stepped aside to allow his sister to be executed for the murder of their parents.

Over time Darren noticed that everyone around him was aging but he wasn't. Neither was the man that he had hired to kill his father. He went to the man with questions and that was when he found out that he was now immortal and would never die. As the centuries passed Darren had a lot of time to reflect on the choice he had made and he has come to regret what he did to his family.

Dad. Sophie really liked the sound of that and decided on that option right away. She hasn't called anyone that in years and it meant everything to her to have the chance to do it now. When Jere put her on his back was when she finally realized again how tired she was. All that stress that they had just gone through didn't help. It wore her out more.

Sophie grinned to herself tiredly as he spoke about how he could just buy her whatever she needed and she laughed at his statement about the moon. She wouldn't need that. As they left the woods she lightly wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her head on his shoulder gently. She was still worried about hurting him. If she wasn't so tired and out of it she probably would have questioned how he could move with her on his back, or at all, with all the injuries he had sustained but in the condition that she herself was in now, questions like that would have to wait.

She was so quiet on the way back because she was half asleep, closing her eyes lightly as her new dad walked. It was only when Jere announced that they had arrived that she looked up and what she saw took her breath away. The house was huge and beautiful with an old fashioned quality to it that Sophie had only really seen in movies. This is so cool! She mumbled in awe with wide eyes as her dad continued towards the house. With each new view of the structure Sophie's eyes moved over the building. This was her new home...it was unbelievable!

Finally Jere let her down and she just stood there taking in her surroundings with the same awed expression. She had to force herself to look back at him and focus on what he was saying. I'd love a tour. This is the most amazing house I've ever seen!
