Leyna is a pretty optimistic girl. She likes to cheer people up when they are down. She is also very caring and usually when someone she cares about needs help, she will help out or take care of them. She is also very friendly but a tad shy. She wouldn’t just go up to a random person and start talking to them. She guards herself. It takes her a long time to actually open up to someone and trust them. It takes her so long because she has been betrayed before that she wants to make sure it would never happen again. Once you get to know her, she gets more comfortable and can open up revealing her more outgoing and silly side. She likes to be playful and to just have fun, but at the same time she has a very serious and focused side. She is a great listener and she is a smart girl. She spends a lot of time learning and reading up on things. She tries to learn about other powers/species and she learns, of course, about her own power. She is also very loyal. She would never backstab or betray her family and friends. And if she was in a relationship, she would never cheat or lie.

Even though she is on the light side, doesn’t mean she is completely perfect. She has some flaws and bad traits as well. For example…She can get very impatient at times. She absolutely hates waiting for long periods of time, like waiting in line for something. She will usually cross her arms, tap her foot and roll her eyes when she is impatient. So it is pretty obvious to tell if she is in an impatient mood. It is hard for her to forgive people…in fact if someone has wronged or hurt her, her friends or her family in any way, she will most likely never forgive them depending on how bad it was. She holds grudges. She gets frustrated easily if something is done wrong or if people don’t pay attention/listen to her. She is also pretty stubborn.

OVERALL
Leyna’s life was a bit complicated. She was constantly moving from place to place because her family decided they were unhappy with every place they moved too. Her parents aren’t easy to please…So Leyna and her brother had to deal with moving all over and having to make new friends all over again. She knew she would always have her brother to lean on and trust and talk to whenever she needed it. Her and her brother are pretty close…the only bad thing is how he is protective over her. Since both of their parents are out all of the time because of their jobs, he has always felt the need to take care of her. After all she was the baby sister.

When Leyna found out about her power, she was only 14. It was just her and her brother at home and she was trying to cook without her brother knowing. She wanted to prove that she could be useful around the house. She ended up cooking the chicken wrong which frustrated her. Her frustration couldn’t be contained and within minutes a burst of flames came up from the gas stove which was on low…but obviously wasn’t on low anymore. It ended up catching half the kitchen on fire. Her brother came running and Leyna had fallen on the floor and stared at the fire in shock. She didn’t understand at all what had just happened. Her brother had to run and get the fire extinguisher and put out the fire. Then he grabbed her and took her outside, since the house was now filled with unhealthy smoke. She remembered being in shock for a long time then once she snapped out of it she burst into tears. She felt awful about what had happened and at the same time was still extremely confused. Her brother never once judged her or blamed her for anything…Her parents on the other hand never treated her the same. Not like they were amazing parents to begin with, but ever since that day, her parents pretty much left her alone. They hardly would talk to her in fear that she would hurt them, even though she would never hurt anyone unless they were hurting her. She ended up learning more about her power and worked at it. She now can control it much better and plays with it when she gets bored. The only person who was there for her the whole time was her brother.

Leyna soon found out there were many others who had the same power, even some people who had different powers. She continued to do research and learn about everything. Leyna is on the light side…she is a good person and would never have wanted to be on the dark side. Most of the time the dark side scares her but she has her power to protect her, even her brother to protect her. Now she has to constantly guard herself and be careful. She was once betrayed by her best friend, when she was 14. Her best friend had only pretended to be her best friend to get closer to some of Leyna’s other friends. She felt completely used which made her guard herself more and close up a bit. It now takes her a while to make close friends because she needs to make sure she can trust them first. Other than that, her past was average before she hit 14.

If Chelsea had been some random person watching her play chess by herself, she probably would have thought the girl had some issues. Any person would either laugh or look at her strange, unless the person was more understanding and knew she must have been bored out of her mind. As she thought about how ridiculous she looked right now, her eyes stayed locked on the chess board searching for a next move to play…against herself. She pretended to think hard before making a move. Thinking was always the key in the game of chess…well not just thinking but strategy and focus. She knew that right now she was only playing for the hell of it so she wasn’t exactly caring about strategy or focus. But in a real game of chess, those were some key points.

Chelsea remembered playing chess a long time ago with her grandfather. He was one of those wise and witty old folks who always had something smart to say. Usually he preached on life lessons, which surprisingly enough, helped Chelsea out sometime along the road. He was the one who taught her how to play chess and pretty much all of the cheats. They weren’t really cheats, but just simply paying attention. All you had to do was pay attention and focus. It was a bit simpler than what people made it out to be. Her grandfather had actually taught her a lot, not just about chess but about life in general. Sadly he passed away when she was 14, but she will never forget a single lesson he had taught her.

Just as she had finished a move and moved over to the opposite side to play against herself she felt somewhat of a presence. And then a voice spoke and she almost jumped, not expecting anyone to be there watching. She couldn’t help but to laugh at what the boy had said…it was true; she had left her king open. Oh mistakes….they happened from time to time. “Well damn…I did leave my king wide open. Not the first time I almost lost to myself in this mad game of chess.” She joked then watched as the boy moved around the table so that they could see each other better. She had to say it was kind of nice that he had a nice yet funny comment to say…she was almost positive someone would come around the corner and tease her for playing alone. She smiled when he asked if she played here often, “Well occasionally…when I find that I want to beat myself at something.” She laughed then shook her head, “Honestly I was extremely bored and found amusement in playing this wonderful game against myself. It beats being bored!” She smiled then added; “Plus I wanted to see how many odd looks I could get in one day.” Though she wasn’t too fond of people giving her weird looks or teasing her, she had to admit sometimes it was a bit funny.

As she glanced around she didn’t see anyone in site but her and the boy. She could hear people whisper but they were hidden behind aisles of books. She always wondered what people whispered about…yes this was a library and people had to whisper, but still, it was a curious thing. Maybe they were whispering about gossip, or how the Chinese restaurant on 25th sucks ass, or maybe they were simply just chatting about their favorite book. Whispering outside of the library was even more intense because you knew that they were whispering so no one else heard what they were saying. Overall it was just an odd and interesting thing…She turned her focus back to the boy and smiled, “I’m Chelsea. Some people call me Chels. Either one works fine with me!”She held out her hand for him to shake. It was something she had been raised to do so she always just automatically did it. Half the time she hardly notices that she does that when she meets someone new.
