Waking up Karson glanced outside with a soft sigh. It was a quite morning and it was a going to be a beautiful day , at least that was what Karson hoped. It was quite in the house her siblings were doing. Her twin was doing whatever , Jayne was probably trying to put their father's affairs in order. It still seemed like a dream thinking that he was no longer with them. Yet as soon as she left her room the reality became clear , Their mother was a former shell of who she was , Lee Ann stayed holed up in her room , barely speaking , the spark she had was gone. So Karson would check in with her from time to time. Making sure she had not passed away like their father , she wasn't sure if she would be alright. Nothing could be done though so she would continue on with her day and not worry about things that she could not control. Humming softly opening her bedroom window with a soft whistle , her owl came though and perched on her shoulder. " Hello baby I didn't think I would see you again. Have you been hiding from me. " With a soft laugh as her fingers gently brushed her feather before gently kissing her then lifting her arm and sending her back outside into the wilderness.
Heading too her closet , calculating what she wanted to wear , she did not have anything really planned. So maybe she could be able to do something fun , grabbing a nice pair of jeans a sweater top , she liked the idea of her glasses and hat . It was nice to have a casual day like that. Slipping on her flats she headed down from her room and too the kitchen , picking up an apple taking a bite grabbing her jacket keys and phone . With one last glance at her empty home with a soft weak sigh she headed out the door. Her car rested on the far side of the lot , it was a rather nice car a simple suv that was able to fit things in the trunk and give her enough room to where she didn't feel cramped. Turning on the music Karson let out a laugh and headed out towards the town. Eyes flicking around she wondered what her bestie was up too , they had a great day at the zoo. It had been too long since she had spent time with Chandler , and the zoo was fun and they were able to get a ton of stuffed animals. Which Karson loved making sure that she got a giraffe for Chandler to take home with him before they left that day.
Passing the library Karson quickly pulled into the lot , reading was something that it seemed like she had gotten from Jayne, She often saw Jayne reading a good book , so it was nice too see that she also enjoyed it. Exiting the car she glanced around , it was a rather quite day at the library. Stepping though the door , the smell of books passed her nose. Books had a smell , at least if you ever asked anyone who as ever read would tell you. It was an old smell but something purely fitted with books , loving that smell she glanced around trying to pick a good place to start her reading adventures.
Fingers softly running across the spines of books , her eyes closed taking in everything around her not wanting to miss a moment of it. Karson wasn't sure what her day would hold , but with everything that had happened she was looking forward to enjoying very moment of it. Picking up the classic book Treasure Island she headed to a couch and curled up. Her fingers flipping though the pages fingers running down them before they settled on the first page and the reading fun had begun.

[style=width:400; height: 300; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/D87TgI2.jpg);] darlin its cold outside wash down with something strong [/style] [style=width: 288px; font-family: arial narrow; font-size:10px; line-height:91%; text-align:justify; background-color: #e1e1e1; padding: 15px; color: #000;]It seemed almost ironic that a man that owned a bookstore was going to the library. It wasn’t as if he was going to go to get away and read for a while. For him, it was a small change of scenery. Don’t get him wrong, the love of his life was the little bookstore that he owned. That store saved his life. It got him a home and off the street, but even seeing the same home walls over and over was a little much for him. Especially for a man that spent his childhood seeing all sorts of different places (even if they weren’t so pleasant). One would think he might have moved onto different places, but he guessed not. There was something about books and reading he had always loved. Arthur didn’t imagine that he was going to stay there very long. Maybe see what selections they were offering. Libraries tended to be the type to run bookstores away, but he did have a respect for them.
Arthur had a few employees. Obviously he couldn’t run this joint all by himself. He just happened to almost always be there. The warlock lived in the upstairs part. It was small, cute, and clean. It had an abandoned guitar on the corner of the room, doing nothing but collecting dust. Music wasn’t really in his soul as much as it used to be. It must have been his personality changing from an optimistic broke young boy to a grown up man who knew better now. Honestly, he knew he should have never made it out of the world alive. It was a wonder that child services hadn’t found him either. All of this gaining identity back after he had gone basically missing had been a difficult process. It made him look like a supernatural that was able to live forever and needed a new way to identify himself. No. Arthur Roberts had been the name he was born with.
All those things weren’t among his favorite things to talk about. The man really didn’t like to talk too personal to people. It was easier to do when friends were slim. He was much too annoyed by people despite his job. During his job, he had gotten into the habit of smiling widely even if he wanted to reach his hand across and tape their mouth shut. After hours, he was able to be completely himself and dislike whoever he wanted. Very rarely did Arthur actually enjoy someone’s company. All this happy bouncy personality that sprung from these trends have bothered him. Some people thought it was “adorable.” He thought it was something to be taught differently. Arthur might have done differently if he would have known the truth about the world. With that in mind, he had the idea that people should know reality. None of this false fantasy in their head. It was rather sad.
Arthur could have drove, he supposed, but the spring air was still crisp enough for him to walk through. A jacket and he was good to go. He would much rather be cold than hot which was probably why sometimes having to keep the bookstore at a comfortable temperature was difficult. It was all about others. Not himself. That was another reasoning he had to come into grips with a long time ago. Little by little, he learned all of his lessons. Even at age twenty-seven, he was still learning just as much as he did then. He walked with his hands in his pockets, carefully eyeing the area. He didn’t live in a bad neighborhood, but it was compared to the places he was going. Very slowly, he was walking into the upper state. Where all the fancy too rich for people what were they doing with their lives type of people. Even outside the library was absolutely beautiful.
As soon as he walked into the library, he realized something that was going to make this entire trip completely useless. His glasses. Arthur was able to see far away fine without them, but when he needed to read something (which was pretty much all the time), he needed them. Well looks like his job was already done here. A trip wasted. Typical. Arthur stuck around for a few moments longer, wondering if he was able to do something there that wouldn’t be a complete and total waste of time. Not quite much else to do except sleep. Which was rude. Just as he was about to turn, he saw a familiar face. That comment he made about not having many friendly faces was true. This was one of the few. Which meant very well that he had to speak with her. Hoping he wasn’t rudely interrupting, he gave a small smile, ”Karson.” He told her simply, ”It’s been a while since you’ve come in. How have you been?” He asked, starting with the regular friendly casual greeting.

She knew that history of the world people tended forget what happened and thus doom to repeat it. So all Karson could do was watch the devastation of it all, it saddened her in a way the way society was deemed to destroy it's self. There was not point to it yet it still happened. Her family were powerful and hated humans so of course they did nothing to stop it. The emotions that they could feed off of from the destruction was to good as well. So she was on the side lines debating what she should do, give in to the darkness be like her siblings. Or be the neutral one like she always was , enjoying the darkness but the light as well. Things changed since her father died yet some of it remained the same , it was a scary aspect and all Karson could do was hold on to the things she knew and hoped that she didn't get lost in it all, Another reason why she had ventured to the library , it gave her a sense of calm. Allowing her to slip into another world that was not her own for a little bit. The world of pure fantasy , then again if people found out her kind existed , well they might think they were in a fantasy world as well,
Treasure Island , a book of pirates and adventure , chuckling softly at the thought of possible meeting a pirate a voice that she knew caught her ear. Rising her eyes from the book she offered the male a warm smile. It was Arthur one of her dear friends she hadn't spoken to him in awhile so it was nice to see him again. " Arthur it is a pleasure to see you can again. Please sit join me." Now that was the question wasn't it , how had she been. From the death of their father and her just trying to keep things together and strong for her mother who was now just a shell of herself. It was hard to answer that , but she knew better then to lie outright so she would gather herself and answer her friend honestly. " Things have been alright , my family is going though some hard times but I have faith that we will all get though it. " Her name was rather known in the city so rumors of her father's death had probably already spread but that didn't mean she needed to add to it. The last thing her family needed was an attack on it because people thought they were now weaker. They were one of the most powerful fae families in the entire city. Nothing would make them weak not even the death of the head of the family.
Now was not time to think of those things though , she was with a friend and it had been awhile since she spoke to him. " But how are you my friend , it has been awhile since we have spoken your right. I hope things are going well with you." Arthur always did bring a smile to her face , he was a kid man and was great for conversation. So whenever they did get together she did enjoy her time with him. Closing her book she set it aside for the moment. Knowing that there would be plenty of time to read that later. She was pretty sure she might find a copy at her home but she wasn't sure of this. Karson was more adventures then her siblings and in that she enjoyed more of the fantasy filled books. Karson though she would be able to enjoy pleasant company now and that was something she would always look forward to. [style=width:400; height: 300; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/D87TgI2.jpg);] darlin its cold outside wash down with something strong [/style] [style=width: 288px; font-family: arial narrow; font-size:10px; line-height:91%; text-align:justify; background-color: #e1e1e1; padding: 15px; color: #000;]The warlock generally didn’t get ‘pleasure to see you again’. That was the modest and correct way to greet someone, but he usually didn’t get one that really meant it. He understood that he wasn’t a pleasant guy. It was made by design. Not many people understood it, and took it personally. It wasn’t a personal thing. His rudeness (different man than the owner of the bookstore, who tried to be polite to his customers) wasn’t directed at someone. Karson was a wonderful woman. One independent, but not so big headed she thought she could do everything on her own. When he was young, he thought that once. That was he was able to live without anyone around him. That had been a dumb mistake. Though Arthur lived on his own, he still felt like he couldn’t do it alone. What did have if not the small amounts of friendship he could collect on his way. He would be worthless if he didn’t mean something to someone else. Taking her offer without argument, Arthur took the seat she was referring to.
Truthfully, Arthur knew more about the large supernatural families than he liked. Living in Manuka for years did that to someone. It wouldn’t take a stranger long to figure out the connection between higher power and the supernatural families- even if it was a human who knew nothing about that sort of thing. They always gave Arthur the impression of a large mafia group. He didn’t like that. Individuals in the families proved him wrong on their reputation, but he still tried to stay out of their way. It didn’t mean he still didn’t hear about the news. It might as well been the front page of the paper. The head of the Astor house died. It didn’t say how and it didn’t say who was related, but it was a large missing piece in the tight grip they had. Arthur wouldn’t be surprised if that just made them more dangerous. He didn’t know how this relative was related to Karson. Just that he somehow was related. She seemed… sad about it, but more as if she was accepting it. Which was good. Arthur could relate to grieving. He couldn’t relate to family like that, and in some way, he was jealous of it. In another way, it was another person he didn’t have to worry about. ”I did hear about that. I’m sorry for your loss.” He mused lightly, trying to keep his expression softer. ”I have no doubt your family will come on top. I imagine you have a new head of house that understands the responsibility?” A terrible thing to assume, but having a family like that, he’d be shocked if that wasn’t the case.
How was he? That was another story. Arthur wished that he could say that he was ordinary. Living life as it should be for him. No adventures to uphold. No traumatic accidents. Those were still true, he supposed. He wished that he could say nothing was on his mind, however. Just the store and taking care of the place. He had to hire another employee because the college student was moving on to bigger and better things. Understandable, but it was a loss of having one gone. He put up a ‘help wanted’ sign in the window. That wasn’t the excitement of his life, however. Man, he wish it were. Now there was a particular little redhead on his mind. Not in a positive way. She was now a frequent visitor and while most of the time, he was patient with his customer, this one was driving him up the wall. It was one of the reasons he felt like he had to leave the place and get some air. That Natalie Hawthorne. The more he thought about her, the more stirred up he got. Why she was on his mind so damn much he had not even the slightest clue.
”Overall, very well. With business, there are always a few bumps in the road.” He had never heard a success story where something hadn’t gone wrong. Something not going wrong was only in the mind of newbies discovering the world and thinking they were going to start right off successful. They had no idea they had to work their way up to the top. Even for Arthur. He had to work from someone on the street, apply for a job that would accept him. Once that job was gotten, he did every will in his power to continue to have that position. He worked hard at it. Now look where he was. While he was no made billionaire, he didn’t want to be. Too much public notice. More than likely, if he had that much money, the rest of the world would hear and know about it. Making him quite the target. Not something he wanted. What he wanted more than anything else in the world was to be like everyone else.

Arthur was such a good friend , he could always make her smile a lot of her friend could which was great to Karson. Who didn't enjoy smiles although she couldn't stop the nagging at the back of her mind that this was just a filler. It wasn't who she truly was , all the smiles the laughter yes it was apart of her but not the full part of her. Maybe that was true but who could be certain of it, Karson didn't want to believe that couldn't believe that. All of her friends were important to her , even though it seemed most of them were light side. Karson couldn't picture them any other way , her brother didn't like it but as long as she wasn't throwing it in his face or having them causing problems with whatever he was doing then no harm no foul. Their family would always been known though , all Karson could hope for was that she wasn't known as a weakness because of her kindness , with their father gone questions would probably soon be raised about the other siblings. What was the future for them , Jayne's was already decided he would the head of the family. But , where did the siblings fall , what would become of them.
Taking a breathe she would try to not think about that for now , the the talk of her father would pass his lips. Her eyes would flick to Arthur filled with slight pain before disappearing again , then fill with light slightly about how their family would come on top. Oh if only he knew it would be known soon enough with all the supernatural families around, it wouldn' t be kept secret that the eldest child took his place of the ruler of the family. Karson wouldn't say that though it wasn't her place and it possible could cause problems which she wouldn't want. “ Yes I am sure we will , this will just make us stronger and make us push forward and not waste time looking back.” Not even wasting time saying it would bring them closer as a family cause let's face it nothing would bring them close at the moment. They were all to different to divided and Karson knew she wasn't helping with that. She was just as different as everyone else. It wasn't helping matters though so she knew she would need to do something to change. “ Thank you for your condolences though , it means a lot to me , I am just taking this every day as it comes you know. I can't do much else besides that.”
Arthur always had a interesting life , she couldn't help but admire him slightly something always seemed to be going on with him. Not that she would ever wish anything bad but she was happy that he always seemed to be moving. She probably could travel and do things all the time if she so wanted to , where would she go though what would she do. Having enough money to do whatever you truly wanted it gave you so many options it was hard to try and narrow it down. Maybe she could look for some work or volunteer at the shelter because she always did have a love of animals. With doing that then her mind wouldn't be rushing with thoughts and the urge to change at least not so frantic as it was now. What did she need to change though , she had a darkness inside of her yes , it was always there lurking waiting to get out. How to expand it though allow it to be one with herself , was the battle she would always be facing she needed help how to go about asking it though was the question.
“ I am glad to hear your doing well , I am sure everything will work out in the end at least I have to hope that it will. Please why don't you sit and join me or we can go somewhere else if you wish.” Wanting him to be comfortable , and to continue the conversation they could sit and enjoy conversation here or just enjoy the outdoors and a walk. Both were fine for Karson she didn't mind either options as long as her company enjoyed it as well. “ So besides work being the same anything else interesting going on in your life?”

[style=width:400; height: 300; background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/D87TgI2.jpg);] darlin its cold outside wash down with something strong [/style] [style=width: 288px; font-family: arial narrow; font-size:10px; line-height:91%; text-align:justify; background-color: #e1e1e1; padding: 15px; color: #000;]People often wondered why Arthur was the way he was. It was a story he didn’t tell. He didn’t like to tell it and he was positive there were plenty of people who didn’t want to hear about it. Who wanted to hear stories such as that? If Arthur ever asked about stories, it was more on his own curiosity. Which he supposed was true for other people. Still, he also didn’t ask unless under a close friend- like Karson. Though curious by nature, he knew better than to expect a full on story. He knew from experience how he wanted everyone else to keep nose out of businesses. So who cared what happened to him? It already happened. There was no changing the past. Arthur learned so much from every little detail in his life. Most of the time, the lesson he learned caused him to be a little more cynical, but he called it surviving. Some lived life. He just survived, but he was content about it. The man didn’t have a death wish. One might think, but the way he saw it- if he was going to live through all of that shit, he might as well press on. What was the point of wasted time? Probably not the fondest of ways to look at life, but it worked for him. It made him reasonable. Made him stable. That’s all that mattered.
Though she spoke of being a stronger family unit, he knew the pain of loosing someone dear. One was his fault. Or he blamed himself over and over. Though he didn’t think about it very much. Only on his worse of days. It was always lurking somewhere in the back of his mind, but the topic didn’t reach the surface. Sometimes he wished there was an easier way to deal with issues. To just take a memory and forget everything. Perhaps land in a coma and wake up in a better place. That he probably wouldn’t mind, although at the same time, the thought of him not having any of his memories made his stomach turn uncomfortably. ”Not that it was a family to be messed with anyway. Am I correct?” [/color] He asked, already knowing the answer. Even if it weren’t true, it would be weak of the family to suggest they weren’t already enormous and powerful. At least, in the eyes of others. Arthur might not have taken it that way, but he knew only a little of the politics involved with those. As an outsider looking in, he saw nothing but hostility with fake smiles to attempt to make peace. But that was just observing. The way she said it… it made him frown. Arthur knew what that meant. He hoped she didn’t lose her spunk because of something like this. There was plenty of opportunities for her. She was strong. A strong woman from a very high line she had to uphold. ”Take every day better than the last if you’re going to have that idea.” He told her. Though he really shouldn’t talk. The optimism in his voice probably sounded fake. For some reason, it sounded more likely for her than for him. He knew the reality of that. Life didn’t get better as it progressed unless you stayed low and hidden from just about everyone. Keep all connections away and of course you were unable to lose anyone that way. It just made sense. Arthur had thought long and hard about topics such as these, as sometimes it was so incredibly lonely. These thoughts had to be repeated to keep himself properly sane. As far as sane as he was possibly going to go. ”Well, I suppose I wouldn’t follow my advise.” With all that he went through? No. He knew very well that unless he was stuck in that same exact situation, no one could help. With a small half smile, he took her offer and sat across from her, saying, ”Lunch wouldn’t be bad if you haven’t eaten it yet.” Lunch with a friend. That sounded nice. Almost as if some of the things on his shoulders lifted off by the thought. Looking across at her, he shrugged. It was as if she somehow knew there was something else on his mind. That damn hyper woman that kept coming into his shop. He kept wanting to call her girl because her maturity level was such as one, but she was his age. Or around his age. ”Nothing of great importance. Some of my customers more… eccentric than usual. I suppose I just think about it a lot.” Which was the weirdest part of this situation all in all. Why was it on his mind so much? Why was she on his mind so much? There was a small part of him that missed her up and bright spirits, but the rest of him wanted to loath it. That girl, or uh, woman, was going to get hers someday. He didn’t know if he should be glad or slightly… heartbroken. [/div][/style] KARSON/BIRDY. EPIC FRIENDSHIPS YEP YEP 8D
