your heart is the only place i call home
He really should not be mourning the dead, but he also really could not have helped himself. He raised a hand and ran it through his hair while staring down at the graves, his face twisting into a look of puzzlement as he questioned himself. Jun knew that there was simply no point in grieving for the lives that he had mindlessly took years ago upon his arrival in Manuka, but as he stood there among the tombstones, torn between blaming himself and wondering what the heck he really was doing here, he knew that he had made the right decision in coming here tonight. Although the hybrid knew better than to rely on his instinct too much for answers, there were times when he needed to make use of the beast that dwelt inside him to keep him on the straight and narrow.
Figuring that he had to at least do something since he after all had taken all the trouble to come here, he walked forward, and then bowed his head at the resting place of a young eighteen year old whose life he had accidentally taken when he had failed to control the demon inside him. It really hadn't been fully his fault, Jun had been powerless at that time, but he still harboured some blame and guilt for himself. The girl's blood was still on his hands, and the creature in him was living inside him, making him responsible still. "Gomen."
[/i] Sorry. The whisper was thick with emotion, and the demon in him snorted scornfully. And as though that wasn't enough, he added in English, hoping that she could somehow hear him. "I'm sorry." Figuring that he had to at least do something since he after all had taken all the trouble to come here, he walked forward, and then bowed his head at the resting place of a young eighteen year old whose life he had accidentally taken when he had failed to control the demon inside him. As he was about to move on to the next resting place of another one of his victims, Jun heard the gates of the cemetery creak open, and soft footsteps on the grass. He cursed himself for his foolishness, he had indeed snapped the ancient lock that had held the gates in his hands without thinking earlier, just to enter the cemetery. A low growl escaped his lips at the thought of getting caught; perhaps it was the caretaker of the graveyard coming to see what was going on, and the boy would in trouble for sure. Of course the solution that quietly pleased him would take care of the problem immediately, but the thought of blood made Jun's stomach squirm in a mixture of disgust and delight. Stop it, he thought to himself sternly. Like that would be of any help.
The footsteps were coming closer. Another low growl escaped his lips, this time louder, and layered with more warning for the approaching person to not come closer. Jun's nose twitched as he took in the latter's scent, and his brows furrowed into a frown. The smell was familiar, ringing bells in the hellhound's head, calling back to him a distant memory of having his life spared and his death being faked. It couldn't be her now could it? It was impossible. What were the chances of her being in Manuka too? The last he had seen of the angel was nine hundred years ago in Japan, and he did not think that he would ever see her again, let alone smell her scent in the cool autumn air tonight.
Jun could smell her coming closer, and he flinched at the familiarity and in more vivid recognition. His pupils, previously constricted, hurriedly dilated to normal, and his nails that had been beginning to form into claws quickly retracted. The hellhound blinked and slowly turned his head over his shoulders, unable to believe the new sight before him. She looked the same as ever. Her name left his mouth then, soft and shocked, without him even realizing it, his mind overriding any other thoughts.
"Aurore?"
