come spark the parts in me that all but died
jump start my heart and wake the sleeper inside
Unlike most demons usually took pleasure from wrecking some sort of havoc on the earth whenever they could get away with it, Selwyn had been doing nothing but laying low. As of right now, the demon had no plans for world domination, but he did want to see the humans on their knees one day. He was presently busy dealing with another case of financial fraud, something boring that had to do with credit cards. It was a far cry from slaughtering mortals, but it give his brain something interesting to do, and it was thrilling enough for the demon. However, autumn was here, and he was feeling too lazy and too relaxed to do anything. It was too cool a day to do any work, and putting aside all his work for the time being, Selwyn headed out into the chilly autumn air. Tucking his scarf around his neck snugly, he walked towards the old town with no particular destination in mind.
To his pleasure, there were hardly any people walking down the streets for him to nitpick and get grumpy over. Although he was created not to feel initially, he did allow himself to experience the occasional emotion. It was interesting to him, how the mind worked in processing feelings. Even so, surliness and frostiness had a habit of dominating his usual demeanor, and his distrust for everyone but himself contributed to it. He also allowed himself to start enjoying the simple earthly pleasures the world had to offer. This was after all, his second visit to earth, and right now, it had become permanent. His first of course, had been for his late charge, but Selwyn hadn't had time to experience everything earth had to offer. Now, unbound by whatsoever shackles that heaven had once placed on him, he was a free man.
The tall demon strolled through the streets, hands in his pockets, His teal eyes glanced around almost lazily, his mind nitpicking whatsoever flaws he saw in the people around him silently. The flaws in his father's creation never ceased to befuddle and annoy him, and even the supernatural creatures weren't spared. Selwyn knew that no one was perfect because perfection was indeed nonexistent, but he really couldn't help himself. It was almost as he was the only one that wasn't an idiot around him...
And then he saw her, right in front of him, not too far but not too close either. His mouth automatically curled into an expression of distaste upon recognition, and his initially neutral look became stormy. Knowing full well that Aella had already spotted him, Selwyn pointedly turned his back from the direction he had been going and began walking back towards where he had started. Now, don't get me wrong, he had nothing personal against the younger demon, but she was a huge handful, and he was always tempted to break something of hers the moment she opened her mouth. The girl was loud, annoying even, and to the older creature, like a fly begging to be swatted. She wasn't as bad as the ones down in hell; he had broken plenty of necks over there, but still bad nonetheless. Selwyn had made it a point to avoid her after the first time they met, but the running footsteps behind him that were struggling to catch up with him apparently did not have the same mindset that he did.
