as long as i've got my suit and tie IMMA LEAVE IT ALL ON THE FLOOR TONIGHT Before Derek never had one bit of time to go out and do what normal twenty something year olds do. He knew he was setting himself up for the worst by going out by himself, but there really was nothing else for him to do. Derek had asked some of his dad's business friends to go out with him. They all canceled on him last minute so it seemed like he was going off by himself. Derek's anxiety was going through the roof thinking about it. If he spent one more night in his apartment he would go crazy. He had no idea where all this spare time came from. It was possibly because he and Vaeda didn't see as much of eachother as they did before. They were nearly inseparable months ago. Now they only saw one another a few times a week. He had very little desire to see her after all the stuff that went down at the Winter Ball and all the mess with Weston.
Derek was so grateful Weston wasn't one to run his mouth. He truly was a nice guy and he appreciated that. Derek was starting to question everything about himself now. Kissing Weston while he was drunk had made him confused abut everything. Now whenever he kissed Vaeda it just wasn't the same and he felt so guilty to admit he had enjoyed the brief kiss with his friend. It sent a lot of different feelings through his body that he never felt with Vaeda and that was terrifying. Derek knew he was straight and that was the end of it. He had never felt himself attracted to a man, yet Derek barely found himself attracted to girls either. Vaeda was the only woman he had ever felt a strong attraction to and that attraction was slowly dying each time they saw each other. He knew he was distant and moody now because he kept finding himself snapping at his girlfriend for nearly no reason.
He hated lying to her and keeping what happened away from her, but she had done just the same to him with Elijah. Derek understood how it felt now even though his situation was a lot different. He knew Vaeda wouldn't judge him. Derek just couldn't help but be afraid though. He could barely admit it to himself that he could possibly be attracted to men more than women. Derek wasn't going to go out and test that either. He just wanted to figure everything out and there was no one to help him. His parents were about as homophobic as it came. They were both very adamant with their opinion during the presidential debate and that disgusted him so much. He was more than happy when the presidential election was done and over because he didn't have to hear his parents being completely idiotic.
Derek snapped out of his thoughts and pull on his jacket. Even if he was only going out to a bar he couldn't help but dress nice. Nobody he knew went to that bar so he wouldn't have to deal with socializing about business and topics he wasn't really in the mood to discuss. They had decided to go on some club in the Upper State before he got canceled on. Derek was just going to go to a nice little bar. He grabbed his keys and made his way out of his apartment and to the parking garage to his cars. A bit later he found himself parking in front of the bar. He pulled his jacket off and left it in the car as he made his way into the building. Derek studied the area around him and the people inside the bar. He didn't see any familiar faces and that was good. Derek went to the bar and ordered himself a whiskey on the rocks. He sipped at his drink quite quickly, enjoying the burn of the alcohol.
A woman began to strike up a conversation with him for a bit before she realized he wasn't open for a hook up. She excused herself to the bathroom and Derek knew instantly she was tired of him. Derek pushed himself away from the bar to seat himself at a table in the back. A soloist began to sing up on the stage. Derek watched in interest, listening to the lyrics and jazzy vibe of the music. He sighed and finished off his drink, still watching the artist up on the stage. The girl had a nice voice. Derek checked the time on his phone, already growing bored with being at the bar. Shane Vendetta had never really known what it was to have a girlfriend. Sure, he had been close with Celeste O'Connor, some ghost who he believed had moved on without telling him since he had not seen her in ages. But he knew now he had been in love with her and missed her when she was gone, but knew she would not come back. The whole problem with Shane, was his inability to be alone, in combination with the fact that he was probably the biggest commitmentphobe on this planet. Mostly because he was usually too high of life to even notice anyone wanting to go there with him and he usually did not do repeat offenders. He had seen how destructive love could be when he was little, with his mother and her love for his father (or atleast who Shane believed to be his father), that had allowed him to beat her up all the time and beat Shane up too when he was old enough to try and protect her. Shane was the most loyal, protective family member, even if he was the first one to move out, to live with his mate Xan (mainly because it was damn time to move out), lured by the temptation of kinky saturday nights and dress up roleplay shit, ofcourse his mother had cried (she did not know about the latter he had with Xan). Because she was gonna miss him. But Shane knew she no longer needed him. She had her boyfriend to take care of her now, and she no longer needed her son to do so.
It were his own youth traumas that had kept him from moving out for so long. What if something happened and he wasn't there? The only reason they had survived last time, was because Shane had smelled the fire and got them all awake and out on time. But Xan had gotten him this far and he had to say he liked living on his own, self dependent, even though he missed his mother cleaning up his mess after him and cooking for him. He knew how to cook quite well, he was italian after all, and pizza were a plus, but still he needed to get used to her not being there constantly. Like tonight, he'd just get dressed in his favorite tight black jeans, some t-shirt with a goofy text on it (mamma mia!) and a beanie tucked over his head, and left the apartment without so much of an inquiry of where the fuck he was going and how late he was gonna be back. Not that it was really such a weird thing for him to go out. Tonight he was gonna watch Annette as she was taking one of their solo-gigs. It happened occassionally, and she needed more money now with a little one on the way. It was still strange for him to imagine her with baby. A cigarette was burning between his fingers as Shane casually made his way through the empty streets. The night always comforted him, he loved spending his time in the night.
Annette flashed him a smile as he got in, waving his hand at his friend. She was a true blondie, but he liked her alright. They were part of the same band, so that was a given that they liked each other. The blonde nudged her head at him to ask him to join her for a song, but the shapeshifter just shook his head at her. Not tonight. Tonight he was just winging it and doing whatever. He just walked to the bar when he spotted a girl chattering to this guy, who did not really seem to be into the flirting. The more the musician observed the other guy, the more he got the feeling that it might not be just because he wasn't open for a hook up. Maybe just not with girls. And since Shane was oblivious for fear anyways, he thought, why the fuck not. The guy was handsome, totally and if there was any chance for a hookup tonight, well then go for it. Ofcourse Shane had had a fist in his face before for flirting with a straight guy, those guys were usually feeling pretty awkward and were like 'be gone with you fag boy' and the shapeshifter shrugged it off and went after a girl again, leaving the guys flabbergasted because it was too much for their tiny brains to get that some people liked girls and boys. But his italian character was usually what charmed most people to him, so he was just going with the flow and seeing where the heck he'd end up being. The guy hopped on the barstool besides the guy he had spotted, ordering himself a Jack Daniels, just because he could. "Y'know, checking your phone looks very disinterested in the gig and being a musician, I must say I know my friend does not really like that." Shane said in his italian accent, pointing slightly at Annette on the stage as he turned towards the guy. "I'm Shane, by the way. And you are..?" He continued, reaching out his hand to Derek, his eyes swiftly gliding up and down the man's body. Damn, he really was hot.

as long as i've got my suit and tie IMMA LEAVE IT ALL ON THE FLOOR TONIGHT Derek would need a lot more than one drink if he wanted to get through the night. Liquor had been his savior for the past weeks whenever he was alone with nothing to do. Pop open a bottle of Ciroc and cranberry juice and he would call it a night. Derek seated himself back down at the table with another drink, his eyes watching the musician again. He put his attention else where when he realized he was beginning to zone out. Derek had no idea why he thought going out was a good idea. Getting out of the house was a nice idea, but going to a bar was where the plan turned downward. Derek wanted for once to be happy and enjoy himself again. It was so hard for him to let go. There would have to be a lot of alcohol in his system if he wanted that. He would not drink himself into a passed out mess by his lonesome self. Derek needed a larger selection of friends. He had let himself get too engrossed in only Vaeda and hadn't invested anytime with others. It wasn't like he had time though. He barely even had time for his girlfriend before their slight fallout. Derek wasn't even sure where they stood.
He hated everything about the situation. Derek wasn't sure if they would make it through or crumble. He wanted so badly to make it through because he wanted to marry this girl. Derek had never met anyone so wonderful in his life and he was afraid he would never find someone as great as her. If it meant he had to convince himself that she didn't have feelings for Elijah, then he would do that. His subconcious wouldn't let him do that sadly because the truth was the truth. Nothing was the same between them, and now this big elephant in the room wasn't helping. Should he tell Vaeda about the kiss? It had been a drunken kiss like hers, so she couldn't get too angry at him. The fact that it was a guy might mix up the situation and the fact that he liked it. Maybe if he kissed a guy sober it would answer things. Derek brought himself back into reality and began to search the crowd for a guy. His eyes stopped on a decent looking guy and he tried to imagine kissing him. The thought did nothing for him. Maybe he didn't have a sexuality. Was that even possible?
How was he halfway through his twenties and now only finding out about this mess? Had he been so focused on school he wasn't able to find himself and experiment like normal young adults? Derek was far from normal. He was so driven and had his head set on finishing school and establishing a career all that partying didn't do it for him. Derek didn't judge others with no path, but he couldn't understand their mindset. All his life he knew what he wanted to do and he made sure he would do it. Now he was doing exactly what he planned, only it wasn't really helping his social life and how his interacted with other young adults. If it wasn't school or business related he was pretty much a blubbering mess. He was starting to work on that now that he had more time on his hands. A little bit too much time if you asked him. Derek had no idea what to do with himself half the time. He was either drowning himself in booze or watching reruns of 90210. It was all a complete mess.
Derek took his eyes off of the man he realized he was now staring at put his eyes back on his phone. He opened up the screen again to check the time and began to play a game of solitaire to occupy himself. Derek looked up when he saw a figure approaching him out of the corner of his eye. His eyes flashed up to see a man seat himself next to him. The guy ordered a Jack Daniels and turned to speak to him. Oh God, now he had to think of what to say again. His heart began to pound in his chest nervously as he looked at the guy. Derek tried to pinpoint the accent the guy had while he spoke, but instantly gave up. He was never good with accents. Derek looked down at his phone and awkwardly put it away."O-oh, I'm sorry. I-I didn't realize..." He stumbled over his words and finished off the sentence with a small smile. Derek looked back up at the stage to notice another girl took the stage. He brought his attention back to the man next to him as he began to introduce himself.
This guy took no time in starting the conversation. Derek gave him a friendly smile and shook hands with Shane as he introduced himself. He barely even noticed the once over he gave him because Derek was always oblivious to any type of flirting in the beginning of a conversation. A person would need to be sickeningly blunt with him for him to get it."Derek." He replied and looked back up at Shane's friend on stage."W-why aren't y-you up there working your m-magic if you're a m-m-musician?" Derek teased him lightly, the smile still tugging at his lips. He wanted to punch himself from how badly he was stumbling over his words and stuttering. Derek wished his speech impediment would have went away when he was a child like all the other kids did usually. Sadly, he was stuck with this problem for the rest of his life. [/blockquote]
