854 words • open • outfit • she's a bit sassy xD
The reason Tala loved Neath De'ar, was because there was an opportunity for you to be completely lonely. Coming from the giant ass royal family she came from, there was always someone watching her every move or judging her for wanting to be a good daughter to her parents, and thus following their lead. Sure, the mermaid did not agree with everything they wanted her to do, but they were still her parents and she wanted them to be proud of her, even though it became clear by now that Attina was never proud of anybody. Everything could be better, you could sing higher, play faster, be more accurate, treat people more politely, there was always room for improvement and it drove Antala insane. Wasn't she always trying to please her mother, while she always failed? The brunette could never do anything right and she would be fooling herself if she thought she did. Even getting a respectable merman boyfriend did not get her mom off her neck, though admittedly, it had become less. Tala still felt horrible about making Weston do this, but he had agreed to do it himself, so it was his own choice. She just wanted to make sure he did not have to marry her as a consequence, because she'd stop that. She did not want Weston to sacrifice all that for her, even if he decided he wanted to do it. She wasn't allowing it, and that's that.
And then there was the other thing her mother was constantly pressing her about, now that the boyfriend issue was out of the way; her siren singing. Her mother thought she was old enough to join the ranks and start luring people in to drown them, like a rite of passage into the adult world. For so long Antala had been able to fend it off because she claimed she did not master the siren song yet, even if she was a natural at that and had been able to lure people in by the age of twelve, she had always been able to hide the fact that she could, in fact, lure people with her singing. And now her mother was bothering her about why it took so long for her to master it when she was so musically inclined, she should have been able to do it years ago. Tala was cheating and she knew that some day it would come out, much like she knew that one day her scam with Weston would come out, even if she hoped and prayed that it wouldn't, because then they'd both be in big big trouble, but she just wanted to stretch things out and push them forward as long as she could. It was also a nice way to keep her mind away from that blasted guy that had been haunting her thoughts for a while. Part of her felt used, because she had been drunk and he had taken advantage of her, but another part of her had severely liked the fact that things had happened.
Luka. He confused her and annoyed her, and yet somehow she felt strangely attracted to him, and even her defense of sass and bitchiness did not seem to help, it just made him come at her more. She thought the dislike was mutual, but by now she was confused about whether she truly disliked him or whether she just disliked the feelings he gave her. He had rescued her from losing her v-card through rape, something he didn't have to do because she even told him to not to, but he had, and she was grateful for that. It was a surprisingly new sensation to feel gratitude towards that guy, but she couldn't deny it either. He had carried her home under her loud protests, which she was also grateful for now, because only disasters could have followed after that. ..But then he kissed her. She told herself he had been the one to initiate the kiss, mainly because she couldn't remember who had actually started, and it was much easier to blame him for it than herself. Granted, she had kissed him back and had actually liked kissing him, but she had been drunk and didn't know what she was doing. Besides, it was the first real kiss in her 20 years of existence -not the wet kisses on her cheek from family or whatever-, and part of her was kind of disappointed it hadn't been with a guy she was truly in love with. Though she knew that that would probably never happen, so maybe she should be glad she at least go tone decent kiss. She didn't know, maybe, Antala was so confused about it, that she just preferred to blame it all on Luka and decide to just stay away from him, because he was nothing but trouble. She opened her mouth to let out the hums that came with the siren song, carried on by the soft breeze of the wind, something her mother had forced her to "practice" and at least she couldn't say Antala did not oblige.
