Pocketing her phone Aquana slipped into the car, crossing her ankles she sighed and looked to the driver. " I don't pay you to just sit there on your ass,can we go please I have a meeting to get to on a reasonable amount of time. " Rubbing her neck muttering about useless workers. Happy to feel them to be actually moving now though so that was at least progress. Pulling her phone back out,her fingers started tapping on the screen, making sure appointments were being made and deadlines were met.. Which was what had her in her car at this point in time. Someone wanted to run an ad inside of her magazine. It was a hotel ad,as if it brought more business for her magazine she was all for it. But,she at least wanted to make sure it was work actually looking at before even saying it could be published inside of her work. They hotel was called Luxor D'Monaco she had heard a lot about it,but never actually stepped foot inside. People could always talk shit about how nice a place was,it was time now to actually check to see if their words rang true. Licking her lips, she pulled out a small bottle of water from her fridge, she had a nice enough car to not skip on the nice details and necessities of what she needed. Grabbing a straw she slowly sipped at it and pondered her meeting, she was meeting with a male named Gideon Osbourne. It was told he owned the establishment so at least she wouldn't be dealing with stupid middle men, instead she would actually be meeting with people who could give her good answers and show her what the hotel was truly about. Yet she was annoyed because she would have been there sooner if her drive was not an idiot. Which seemed to be her problem lately, meeting with idiots she had just fired an employee for that same thing, you would think that they would work in order for that not happen. Finishing off her water, making sure none touched her skin, she threw it away and rested back against the chair and sighed. It was a beautiful day and Aquana was happy for that, she just hoped her models were ruining their skin in the sun. Because that would take make up and touch up if they screwed up their good complexion. Which meant more money, and the thought of that made Aquana's head hurt even more so then the bothersome employee she had right at this moment. Pulling up into the hotel she waited for the door to open.slowly slipping without so much as a thank you she continued onto her way. Ignoring her drivers comments, know they wouldn't risk losing their job when she paid better then most because she wanted the best and the best is what she usually got. Smiling a cool smile as the hotel entrance door was opened she offered a nod and continued in. It was beautiful from the outside now it was just a matter of if the inside would look just as good. With her purse clutched in her hands, her heels clicking on the floor, her dress hugging her curves, she glanced around with a pursed smile. Taking in everything she possible could from first glance. It wasn't bad it was actually quite stunning and high class as much as Aquana hated to admit that. Continuing onwards she ignored the glances she was getting. Yes she knew that her confidence seemed to rattle people, that her own aura gave of bitch, but that was not her problem. It was the people around her who never seemed to be able to get it together. Making her way to the bar that he suggested to meet she slipped into her chair, slowly pulling off her jacket setting in a chair beside her. A approved smile on her face as the bartender came up right away. "Martini extra dry." As she waited for her drink, she glanced at her phone for the time.. Her meeting would start soon and she liked what she was seeing. Outfit

Gideon was always sharp with business plans, and tried to make plans accordingly to help expand his already broad realm of resources. Finally, the hotel was finished, and guests were coming in by the thousands, and he'd be lying if he said he wasn't incredibly proud of what he'd accomplished. The Luxor D'Monaco had been his third major hotel within the United States, and already it was on track to do more business than his hotel in Los Angeles within a two year span. While Manuka wasn't the largest of cities, it was large enough to make a difference, and had enough repeat clientele (as well as wealthy out-of-town patrons) to keep it afloat. Besides, Gideon was smart to invest in a town like Manuka, as it seemed that the population was on a consistently steady increase, and if there was one thing he'd learned early on in his business ventures, it was to keep track of the numbers. And if numbers were rising, they shouldn't be denied or overlooked.
A week ago, Gideon had put in a request to meet with the Editor-in-Chief and “head honcho” of a popular fashion magazine that was being published out of Manuka, and headed by a rather well-known young woman. At least, young by his standards, and well-known on a level that supernaturals would understand. Gideon had done his research before moving to Manuka, and read up on all the major families that had settled there early on; since they were all supernaturals, they were of interest to him. The Adrastos family were an old mer-family that hailed formerly from Atlantica. Their family status boasted an anti-human stance, which meant they'd see eye to eye, and while he'd read that the family was more of a matriarchy, and also boasted strong females, Gideon wasn't nervous. Aquana Adrastos was supposed to be a tigress in negotiations, and a shark when it came to business, and after several brief conversations on the phone, the demon had sweet-talked her into coming to his hotel to see its splendor first-hand, and had arranged for her to have a two-night stay in his finest suite, and put all her room and bar service, as well as any other luxuries she wanted to indulge in during her stay, on his personal tab.
Gideon made his way toward the hotel bar when his man at the front desk tipped him off to Ms. Adrastos' arrival. Gideon adjusted his tie and walked toward the bar where Raoul, his best bartender, was working on her drink. Silently, he slipped in next to her and made eyes with Raoul before she had time to really notice his presence. ”Raoul, please charge all of Ms. Adrastos' drinks over the next two days to my personal tab, and I know I won't have to tell you to give her your very best.” It had definitely taken him some time to arrange the finest non-human help to work in his establishment, and since most of them had learned early on that he was not one to be trifled with, he was now paying for the absolute best money could buy. The ones who hadn't made the cut, well, they were either no longer on the earth or in Ryanna's slave trade market ready to be shipped off to their new, very eager “owners.” Gideon caught Raoul's eye again and smiled in a slow, charming manner, knowing that his manners would be the first thing she looked for, especially since the little mermaid had likely come with preconceived notions of him. Gideon kept to the shadows, and let most people make their assumptions through rumors; very few actually got to meet with him face-to-face except on accident, or if he wanted them to know who he was. Some probably thought he was some old miser instead of a handsome, debonair, billionaire playboy. ”And will you kindly set me up with two fingers of Scotch, please? From my private reserve, and no ice.” Gideon then turned to Aquana and purred. ”It's imported directly from Scotland, and I won't take a bottle that hasn't been aged at least seventy years. It'd be a travesty to dilute it with ice,” Gideon explained, then extended his hand and waited for her to take it before pulling her hand to his lips for a brief kiss. His manners were a bit old-world, but they always got the job done.
”Welcome to the Luxor D'Monaco, Ms. Adrastos. I do hope you'll enjoy your stay with us here,” Gideon said, then smiled; he figured she already knew who he was, but decided that a formal introduction couldn't hurt. ”I'm Gideon Osbourne, and I must say... your voice over the phone does little to give a man a picture of who he is truly dealing with. Thank you for taking time out of your schedule to visit in-person.” He was being a bit smarmy, but he was genuine. This business deal had the potential to make him hundreds of thousands of dollars in new guests, and a positive write-up could set him up for years, especially if she chose to cover his other hotels, too. So, he'd waste no effort in charming this delightfully icy creature.

Humming softly, her fingers dancing along the bar top it was a very nice place so far Aquana was very impressed. It seemed like all the boasting everyone gave was well deserved. About to speak about her drink,a voice caught her ears over her shoulder. Gideon had now made his appearance and he was a lot more attractive then she thought as well as having good taste. Offering a soft smile she glanced back as the drink was place in front of her. Raising the glass to her lips,a soft sigh of pleasure passed them, setting it back down so licked her lips. " Mmm a bartender who knows how to make good drinks are well worth their weight in gold. He is a good one and very good and worth keeping. " A man or woman who could make drinks like this were alright in Aquana's book. They had a job and they did it well. She had no use or time for people who could not do a simple task of making good beverages. It seemed like Gideon knew how to hire them which was a good thing. " So I like what I see so far which is good I would have hated to be disappointed. " Grinning at his liquor choice her own words a soft purr with a deeper tone to them. " Well a man who has good taste in liquor is even better. It seems like they were not mistaken about the owner of this place after all. A man with style and taste."
Waiting for the introduction she was beginning to wonder if maybe she had misspoke to the gentlemen in front of her. She knew she wasn't but one can never be to careful. Then he gave his name and a teasing coy smile passed her lips before slipping to a look of pure professionalism. As her hend fell into his at the introduction she raised a brow slightly and watched curious. It had been too long since she had met a gentlemen with such manners, even though she thought men weren't worth more then just breeding. Meeting one who had manners as well as taste well a woman could appreciate that at least. " A true gentlemen,I thought those have all but died out.. You seem to never disappoint Mr. Osbourne." Taking another sip of her drink she turned towards him. Crossing her legs as her toned legs showed slight skin as her dress slightly rose. But,still looking the ever classy lady as always while they continued their meeting.
" And I must say the rumors of your looks do not do you justice either,a man with such looks, well he probably could get whatever he wanted. So my question is why ask for a ad in my magazine. Now you have a beautiful hotel from what I have seen. Yet I am wondering what made you think of my paper my work to run your ad." Ah yes the business woman was coming out,now she enjoyed being charmed like any other woman most of the time, but she always wanted to make sure that she was nothing going to waste time or money on a person who just wanted to say they met Aquana Adrastos. Yes she knew of her own fame and reputation, running one of the most popular fashion magazines in the city, well it was bound to get you noticed, but at the same time. She wanted to make sure her time and effort's were not wasted on young stupid ideals.
Eyes watching him, taking in everything she could about the man in front of him. He seemed wiser beyond what she knew, from just the way she saw him carry himself, she could be wrong but what she saw at the moment she couldn't be that far off. Licking her lips she pushed her empty glass aside and shifted her legs once more. " Now what do you plan to show me that will prove that I should place this luxury hotel in my paper. From what I can see of you now though I am sure you will not disappoint.

Aquana wasn't that difficult to impress, it seemed. Although Gideon did value quality, and made sure that he always got the best of the best, the fact that she was enamored with his bartender's ability to make a dry martini, which was a relatively simple cocktail. But, he was trying to be charming and impressive, not judgmental and snobby. Even though he could tell that this woman fell into both of those categories. The demon had a knack at reading people, because he'd been doing so for thousands of years. Eventually, you saw every type of person that existed, and people just seemed to keep repeating themselves. There wasn't really anyone that completely took him by surprise anymore. Except Jyli...
Gideon's thought hit him quickly, and he forced it away so he could give Ms. Adrastos his complete attention. She was there for a reason, after all, and even though he could afford to be distracted during this business deal, he wanted to give his best effort and put his best foot forward. ”The way I see it, if you have the capability to buy the best, why not? And I appreciate someone who can actually make my drinks properly.” Gideon grinned, then thanked Raoul when he got his own beverage. ”I would hate to disappoint. I believe in giving all my guests the very best,” Gideon said, then glanced over his own lobby. Everything was spotless, lavish, and brought him great pride. The Luxor D'Monaco was probably one of his finest hotels, and best business ventures, because Manuka was one of those places that seemed to be an endless goldmine of opportunity. ”I am pleased to hear that you like what you've seen so far, Ms. Adrastos, although this truly is just the beginning.” Gideon's studying up on her family had given him plenty of material to work with so he'd have a better understanding on how to handle this stubborn creature. Stubborn women were somewhat of a specialty for him, and he was rather good at charming even the most fickle and “man-eating” of womankind. Any good businessman knew to go into any deal properly prepared for whatever curve balls might arise during negotiations, and although he knew there was nothing she could quote him that he couldn't afford, he really did need the write-up. Gideon was already planning to use the Luxor as a way for Ryanna to do some “on-site” hunting for her slave trade market. If he could get the hotel filled with hot, young women that had read about his business in her fashion magazine, there would be plenty to select for her more specific needs. Apparently, Gideon had flattered her enough for her to call him a “gentleman,” which meant that he'd already pulled the wool far enough over her eyes. All it took, apparently, was some strong alcohol and one of his bright, knee-weakening smiles. Her comments about his looks also caught him by surprise: and here he was under the impression that she could barely tolerate men. Gideon knew he was handsome; he had been crafted by the man who many people thought to be some sort of master creator, and, for the most part, his children he made to serve directly with him were some of his best work. ”Most of them have died out, but some of us still remember chivalry,” Gideon said, wondering if she'd catch onto his double entendre of sorts that almost gave away his age, but not quite. If she did, he wouldn't mind because it wasn't like she didn't have secrets of her own. Just one little drop of water could silence any blackmail she'd try to put on him if she decided to play dirty just because he was a demon. ”If I'm being completely blunt, any start-up business needs a solid clientele base. I make a lot of money from people who are passing through and choose the Luxor because it's the most beautiful hotel in the city. I chose the property its on for a reason, after all,” Gideon said, getting directly to business even though she'd tried to soothe him with compliments. He knew that maneuver, and had been doing it since before her great-grandparents had come into existence. ”But I'd like this to become a destination spot, because it's good for me and for Manuka. There's a lot of natural beauty in this city, and I feel anything that has potential has the potential to make money, don't you?” Gideon took another sip of his beverage, then waved Raoul over to bring her a refresher, since her glass was empty. ”Your magazine is one of the most well-read and well-distributed throughout the East Coast, and I could use that publicity to my advantage,” Gideon said, then tapped his fingers on the bar and thanked Raoul once he brought over her new drink. ”Not that it wouldn't be to yours, as well. Along with paying you for the advertisement every month, if you did a write-up review and I was pleased with the results, I'd be sure to leave a copy of your latest issue in every hotel room, every single month. I'll scratch your back, too, Ms. Adrastos.”Gideon finished off his drink and saw that she was starting to appreciate that he wasn't some fool when it came to hard bargains and negotiations. Gideon made sure that he was rather hard to track, and did well to ensure that his identity, his assets, and everything connected to him was under lock and key... he wanted to remain an enigma, a local legend, and even though he had done his research on her and her entire family, he felt comfortable knowing that she was going in a bit blind. She had no idea what she was dealing with when it came to him, and would have to rely more on her instincts. When she finished off the new drink that Raoul brought her and asked about seeing the rest of the hotel, Gideon smiled. ”Absolutely. I'll give you the VIP tour,” Gideon said with another charming, mega-watt smile. ”Right this way.”[/blockquote]

Aquana smirked at that and continued on with her drink, while saying that was all well in good, sometimes you just wound up disappointed with things. So as he enjoyed the best, sometime the best wasn't good enough. Which just pissed her off,why was the best so hard to get. It shouldn't be with money and power, well it should be able to buy you anything, yet she was still stuck with stupid fucking people in her office and life. Which irritated her to no end. So she was contemplating all of this while sipping and excellent drink at Gideon's hotel. Maybe it was because he was a man that people wanted to give him the best, while herself she was just a woman who if demanded to the best was seen as bitch. Not that see minded,it was a double stranded an amusing one sometimes but a double standers none the less. " Yes getting the best is a perk, although I can't help but wonder why isn't the best always given. People these days slumming it and not putting forth all of their effort. Why even live if you just became a waste of space. " Sipping more of her drink she let out a soft sigh and licked her lips. This drink was good,so she was happy that things were going well at least to start.
Glancing around the lobby, her eyes judging every person and types of people who passed by. Money that was what she saw when people walked though those doors to enter into this beautiful hotel. Money bought power two things Aquana loved to have both of. So maybe this was going to work out after all,but he was a man so she would need to make sure it was worth the time and money she would throw into this,or at least the hours she would do to make sure the place was perfect in the magazine should she chose to run it. Wondering if only humans came here, that wouldn't do though at all,but from catching the sights of others, and of course looking into the man she was meeting with. It was good to know that humans didn't really stay here. And if they did, well at least that had money and class to give them a little leeway in actually existing. Offering him a calculating gaze. There was more to him then met the eye, which made her please to know she wasn't wasting time with a blow hard idiot.
Laughing at that she perked a brow, now that was something,if he had been around since some men still knew that. Then how old was this man in front of her, must be old enough if he actually knew manners. " Yes well not everyone can be as well versed in time and cultural like you have been. Which if they were, well that would probably save their lives and not wasting people's time." Eyes focused and calculating, now what type of flavor was he,many choices could allow him to be as old as she probably was,but she wasn't one to waste time trying to find out. If it was of no use to her, then she didn't bother wanting to know it. Being a supernatural herself, silence was usually golden, even more when a single drop of water could change you into a fish out of water. So they would keep their secrets and be none the wise,a little cloak and dagger never hurt, sometimes it even ended up being fun.
" Please the last thing I would want is a person who is scared to say what they feel or think, myself I know I am a bitch. And have no problem stating that or being one,so I would expect the person I am talking with,to be as blunt and honest as I am. I think that makes good business ." Happy that he was cutting though all the bullshit that she usually had to deal with when talking business, she nodded her head. He knew all of his facts which was refreshing. Her mother would be pleased as well, well more so that he knew what he was doing. " Yes, I agree as well, if you can make money in any way why not use it to your advantage, this world is not meant for the weak.." Cold and cut throat, that is what Aquana was like in all aspects of her life. Business was no different,Aquana enjoyed this part of life. Being mean didn't phase,Aquana it gave her a slight thrill to just watch people crumble for being so weak. Only the strong survive and Aquana was going to make sure she thrived in that.
Smirking she laughed softly at the flattery, yes while flattery did win over most people,Aquana just like the business of it all. But it was good to know that her magazine was doing so well. She lived pretty much at her work,so she wanted to make sure that all of her work did not get wasted. " Now that sounds good, flatter is nice but I do not need to have it wasted, or exposed too it. But money and profits business expansion now that is music to my ears. Now if you have read about me,then you know I would never write anything that is top of line. Or I would have never wasted time in meeting with you."
Lifting the glass and sliding it away, she slipped from her chair and stood besides him as she was led towards the rest of the hotel. " On a weekend, how much profit would you say this place revenues. " It was curious because if she would make this deal, then she would need to make sure more magazines were published.

Gideon had a keen enough sense to know when people wanted to stick with business, and when they were open to a little bit of distraction. For a long time, he'd held the belief that women weren't as skilled in business as men, but after working with a number of women who possessed a skill with business that it was near dangerous, he'd learned not to underestimate anyone. The Adrastos family were a very old clan of supernaturals, and their reputation did precede them, so Gideon knew what he was dealing with at least in part before he and Aquana were even formally introduced. Gideon could respect that she seemed to have a desire to jump right to the chase, because while sometimes the pomp and circumstance about wooing a prospective investor was interesting and amusing, Gideon liked to crunch numbers. Over the years, he had obtained enough properties, businesses, and the like that he was proud of what he'd done, and when someone actually took an interest in his work, it was like a small victory.
As she spoke, Gideon got the sense that this little mermaid was more cutthroat and vicious when it came to her business than she'd originally let on. ”If not for those who 'slum,' as you say, it wouldn't be so easy for others to rise to the top,” Gideon said with a cool grin. ”Let the rubbish sink to the bottom, and you'll see what makes it to the surface, that's what I've always said.” His reality was a harsh one, and a bitter pill for some people to swallow, so he made sure only to speak of his true opinions when he was surrounded by like-minded company. Ryanna was the person he told most of his inner-workings to, even though he still didn't tell her everything, and had always been pleased by the way her mind was just as wicked as his own. It was impressive, and a feat that was difficult enough that he'd never seen anyone match him in three thousand years.
Gideon could tell as she looked around that she was sizing up his property, and felt inclined to watch her gaze as she did so, since he already knew all the surroundings of the Luxor D'Monaco like the back of his hand. After all, he'd seen the place when it was just a vacant lot, then a shell of a building, a large, empty space, and then what it was today. Every part of the development and building Gideon had a hand in, and made sure only the best hands other than his own were part of the process. And, just like anything else, Gideon knew this was a process. Business deals were also a process, and the demon felt anxious to get to work. Not only did she seem to be impressed with her surroundings, but with him as well, and Gideon was flattered. Even after all his years of existence, flattery was something that he still hadn't built an immunity toward. ”Ah, sometimes knowing all the culture of the world and how most of it has passed us by just makes me feel old, not particularly worldly or special, though I do appreciate the compliments.” It was the proper response, after all, he didn't want to be too charming and let the lovely Ms. Adrastos think he wanted anything more than just a business proposition.
As if on cue, Aquana launched in with telling him that she was direct and to the point in a way that made her statement perfectly clear and, only for a moment, almost like she was trying too hard to impress him. The demon fought a chuckle and a semi-derisive remark, because he really didn't want to put a hindrance on their deal. Being forward was one thing, and he could appreciate that, and even tried to be forward himself on some occasions, but with age he'd learned that sometimes being a firecracker and overly so only got one so far, especially with those who had quite literally seen and done it all. Sometimes, it wasn't about a 'fear' to say something, as Aquana suggested, it was just a smarter maneuver to advance your pawn further along the chessboard where he liked to dabble.
However, she did get one thing right: business was certainly not for the weak, and while she was likely many things, Gideon wasn't naïve enough to think that Aquana Adrastos was weak. ”I don't consider any of the rare flattery I dole out to be wasted, Ms. Adrastos,” Gideon said curtly, but with a smirk on his face so he wouldn't be taken too seriously. ”Whether it's necessary or not, I've always been one to call my shots as I see them. Call it being attuned to gut instincts or whatever you please, but it's suited me well throughout the years.” As the tour began, Gideon led her toward the lavish elevator so they could start at the top and work their way down. He wouldn't show her his private living quarters, or the top secret basement area below, but the rest would be sure to dazzle her well enough, even if she did have a refined palate.
As soon as the tour started, she went in with her questions, and Gideon smiled. He was close enough to the books to know financial information like she'd want to know off the top of his head. So many business owners took a backseat when it came to bookkeeping, but Gideon really did like to know his business from the ground up, even though he didn't always take care of his paperwork on his own. Jyli had made sure to keep him in the loop as far as the hotel's finances were concerned; it was still a slow start because it was brand new, but it was doing quite well. ”My larger hotels in New York and Los Angeles gross approximately $100,000 over a three day weekend, but they've been around for at least two years,” Gideon prefaced, for comparison. ”The Luxor has been open for three months, and on average, I take in approximately $65,000 gross as a low point. We're on track to make millions, Ms. Adrastos.” Hopefully, that “m” word was all she wanted to hear before she was sold, although he could talk more numbers if she had the inclination.

Aquana hated to admit it but this man knew what he was talking about, not that he would ever know that though. She had an image to uphold and while it was pleasing to meet someone who knew what they were talking about. It was slightly annoying as well, not many people she had met were actually capable of anything. Not wanting to even think that it was the reason she was annoyed a lot of the time. She would rather just think it was the men in her life and call it good. Her eyebrow slightly raised listening to him speak and taking it all in, he had a charm about him that she rather found likeable. Her eyes taking in everything listening to all that was said, she couldn't help but smirk wondering what her mother would be like in this situation. Would she just sit here and listen to him speak or would she be already out for blood and telling him what she wanted changed. Aquana knew the answer to that but it was fun to think of what she would be like. Her mother a blessing and a curse in her own right , full of anger and coldness that Aquana all but had in spades.
At the slumming comment she smirked and shook her head, " I would rather have no rubbish at all, even though it is sinking to the bottom it is still there polluting and wasting space. " She knew that she was possible giving more away of what she was but that couldn't be helped. She wouldn't hide in the shadows afraid to admit what she was , but that didn't mean she would go out into the open about it either. Although she enjoyed his view on it as well it seemed like they both didn't like to waste time on this that were foolish and a waste of space.
" You know taking a compliment when it is do is also good form Mr. Osbourne." She was happy that he took it in the end but curious as to why he didn't accept it out right at first. Was he just not use to that type of praise, not that it truly bothered Aquana one way or another but she knew in order to make a deal work some flattery or kindness went a lot better then being a bitch and cold. Gideon was a very interesting man though , attractive as well but that was all he was just a passing glance a single thought. He was first and foremost a business associate it everything went well in the meeting they were having.. Both of them would go back to their homes richer people then when they started out their day.
Her heels would click against the ground as they started their walk of the hotel. Her eyes watching and flicking around to people as they passed and some glanced their way. A small smile always plastered on her face, yet if you knew to look hard enough her eyes would be stern and ice cold. Why did people stop and stare it was annoying and it did not do anything productive it was a hindrance. She would nod hearing him speak the numbers and file them away to come back to later when she talked to him about it later. Hearing the millions caused her to pause for a moment but then continue on her walk. " I see not bad for a three day weekend , oh I would hope so because anything less then a progress towards millions and this meeting would be over already." Smirking at this she wandered towards a elevator and waited for him to lead her somewhere else. " What is your clientele base here , we both know money of course but do more men or woman home here. " It might seem an odd question to ask but Aquana was curious because if a spread of this hotel went into her magazine the base of people here would change. " Now how do you feel about having model in your section of my paper as well , because we could something more out of it as well." Shifting her shoulders slightly her face looked towards Gideon it would be interesting to see where this meeting went.

His meeting with Aquana was more interesting than he would have originally guessed. There were many rumors surrounding the mermaid, most of them stating quite plainly that she was a shrewd businesswoman and had a tendency to get exactly what she wanted. Gideon wasn't in any mood to play hardball, because her business ended up benefiting his business, and that was something he valued. Not many people were able to exhibit any trait or calling that would make them valuable to the ancient demon, but he was more than willing to respect where it was due, or flatter where it suited him. It seemed that Aquana wasn't as swayed by flattery, but facts and one's ability to stand alone, which were traits that he could respect, even if he wasn't certain how to base his opinion on the little mermaid just yet. At least she seemed to like him, and he could certainly find ways to make that work.
As their conversation continued, Gideon couldn't help but smile at how shrewd she really was. Her opinions were bold, uncompromising, and he wasn't quite sure whether to admire it or think that she was a bit overzealous and judgmental. Gideon tried to steer his business with a more open perspective, taking the variety of the world into account before stepping on the necessary toes. This was from centuries of practice, however, and he knew that even though Aquana didn't lack in experience for her age, she was still very young and would only have a mortal lifespan with which to leave her legacy on the world. The demon wondered if that knowledge alone wasn't what made her so interested in accomplishing things immediately instead of biding her time – he had an unlimited amount of time, so he lacked in worry for time-sensitive issues. ”An interesting viewpoint about our little class system – I'll have to keep that in mind.” Gideon was diplomatic, as usual, not wanting to stir the pot by altering a differing viewpoint when she seemed to be so set in hers. The demon had no doubt that he could decimate her in a verbal sparring match, but that sort of thing never really interested him. He was able to put aside politics, differing opinions, even a flat-out dislike of some individuals just to accomplish what was best from a business standpoint, and that was part of what made him a professional.
The demon raised an eyebrow when Aquana commented on his supposed inability to take a compliment. He could take compliments, certainly, but wasn't sure how it was in 'good form' to take one that was about something so obvious as him living for a long time. His response to Aquana wasn't meant to be ungrateful for the compliment, because he was pleased that she seemed to like him and respect him well enough, but Gideon didn't see a three-thousand year existence as something to compliment – it was just a fact of life. His life, to be exact. ”Perhaps alteration of 'form' and the acceptance of compliments fluctuates with modern society. I find that sometimes, even I am out of my depth.” Really, he was very old, and while he'd done his best to transition smoothly as the world changed around him, there were still many parts of an ancient world that still lived within his thoughts, words, and actions.
After leading the mermaid around other parts of the hotel and discussing his business plan, gross earnings, and prospected outcomes financially, the demon thought that Aquana seemed rather impressed. The statement about her not taking an interest in any start-up business that wasn't on track was a bit presumptuous, maybe even elitist, but Gideon did enjoy a woman who knew what she wanted. The advertisement would be very good for his business, as well, so he wanted to reel in this deal. ”The clientele base is for adventurous types with a fondness for luxury – men, women, couples. Anyone with fine tastes and a rich palette will feel very comfortable here. People like you or your exquisite family, Ms. Adrastos,” Gideon said; he was certainly good with the compliments, and wondered if this was the image that her magazine would support. ”We cater to the best and the most beautiful, as I have a penchant for the finer things in life. That's the best way to live, wouldn't you agree?” She seemed to be intrigued, and Gideon thought that he had her reeled in for sure when she asked the question about her bringing in a model for the shoot, and he grinned.
”I've a limited eye for what will sell magazines, if I'm being candid – but I couldn't see how a beautiful woman wouldn't be a draw. I leave those decisions to your discretion,” he replied, knowing that it was likely smart to let her think that she still had power and control. He wouldn't want to chase her away by his being tight-fisted or unwilling to compromise, not when he had a good thing going.

Aquana wasn't one who really liked to dally in things she wanted what she wanted, and usually got it. Sometimes it took time but eventually she was pleased with the end result, that wasn't saying things always went her way. No sometimes she didn't get what she wanted but that was just life. It would mean that she would just need to try harder next time, her mother wasn't one who liked people losing, so Aquana never liked too lose. She knew her reputation of being a cold hearted unfeeling bitch, that worked for her though. What did feelings have to do with good business, sometimes all that did was just in the way of the things that really mattered. While she wasn't the closest with her family , she hoped that they understood why she was doing thing certain ways and not question them. Well the only one who really would question things would be her sister Jamie. Which Aquana admired cause that meant she had the balls to actually ask what the fuck was up. That was neither here nor there. At the moment all she was focused on was expanding the business she had, and the one person who was helping her was Mr. Osbourne , there wasn't much spoke about this man. Expect that he had power, which wasn't a bad thing to have. It all mattered what they did with it though, so far though he seemed to be doing well for himself.
Smirking at the comment about how she viewed things, she would give a slight nod of her head. She didn't really have sympathy for those who didn't help her. So people were poor in the old, how was that her problem. If anything they would have strive to get better instead of just wasting space. But with the way society was going, that didn't seem to be a possible future. So Aquana would just adapt to it and not care about the lower class, as long as they didn't effect her. As much as she wished they would all disappear, because she knew none of them would even look at her magazine. So waste of space that was all they were. " It doesn't suit many people thinking that way, but the world wasn't suited to fit the weak or simple minded." Not that she thought Gideon should think her way, she knew he was more then capable to think his own views of the world. With the way he talked, she also knew he had much more age on her but she wouldn't pry with that either.
She didn't mean to offend Gideon with her comment about compliments if she that was a grievous mistake on her part that she would need to make amends for. " Yes well with society this day in age. It is hard to find what people mean by compliments or insults they seem to be blending together more often then not now. " It was sad though that people seemed to butch the English language as well as their own intelligence to try to fit into the mold of society and what people think they wanted to here. If someone wanted to have an idiot around them they would probably specify that, but when people dumb themselves down, or act stupid to just make a point. It never made sense to Aquana and probably never would. " There is nothing wrong with being who you are though . People are trying to blend into much into society that all they seem to be doing is messing it up with their idiocy. " Aquana never hid her dislike for most people or humans for matter, while she didn't go out of her way to outwardly cruel she wouldn't be nice either.
Her head would nod every so often as she listened to him talk about the hotel and they people who seemed to stay here. The beautiful the best of the best, the bold and beautiful, who wouldn't like to be considered that. From what she could tell this Hotel held a high clientele base. Which pleased Aquana know that people had taste at least when they stayed here. It was a very beautiful hotel Aquana couldn't help but admire it as she continued to look upon it. Her eyes would glance around as they passed by people, her mind trying to think that some of the woman and men here were wearing some of the outfits that she designed and placed in her magazine. Maybe this was going to work out for the best after all. " Yes if you can live the fine life style why settle for less, it is a very bold statement but very true as well. " She didn't mind having the money and living the way she deemed fit. Since she had the money why not live life the way she wanted too.
She would stop walking and turn to face him, thinking about all of this she would take one final glance around the hotel before looking back to Mr. Osbourne. " Well then I think we should sit and discuss the future of our business together, because I think we could have a good future together Mr. Osbourne. " She would of course if they accepted the deal would possible want to take photo shoots here with some of their models , but that could all be discussed after the fine details were all sorted out.

So far, this business meeting was going very well. Usually, it was easy enough to tell when something was going to end up being a positive venture, or fizzling out completely. There were some people that the demon had 'met' with who claimed to have a mind for business, and ended up being entirely disappointing within the span of just a few minutes, but so far, Aquana was rather impressive. She seemed to be a rather shrewd businesswoman, which was never a bad thing – to be a female in business, even in modern times, could be a bit of an uphill battle at times, and even though Gideon thought the sexes were entirely equal when it came to business (at least, most of the time – everyone had their strengths and weaknesses), he knew that not all people felt the same. Other supernaturals that were older – mostly immortal species – tended to look down upon those who were lesser in age, and on top of that, there were still some rather old-fashioned ideals that they held onto with a rather steadfast grip. But even though the morphing and twisting of time was not always his favorite thing in the world, Gideon had tried to adapt to modern society in as seamless a way as possible. His closest allies in Manuka were, in fact, females, and he appreciated all they could bring to the table with an unparalleled respect.
The two of them got into a brief discussion of politics concerning the 'underbelly' of society, and while Gideon didn't exactly think highly of them, he knew they served a purpose. Just like in the food chain, the lowest on the totem pole did have a place, even if it wasn't a glamorous one. Of course, those at the bottom of the totem pole didn't hold his attention, but he was one of those who didn't really care much for someone who was beneath him either way – unless they crossed him, and then they had to be eliminated. But, he could tell that she wanted to ensure that he shared her opinion, in one way or another, and was likely the kind to steamroll others into her way of thinking. Even though he did so in a polite, diplomatic fashion, Gideon took a tone that let Ms. Adrastos know that he was much wiser about her in matters of the world, and would not be steamrolled into any opinion other than his own. ”One must also think about the fact that, like it or not, every being on this planet serves a purpose. And as there must always be a top, there must always be a bottom, and we should consider ourselves fortunate to have risen above the average masses.” With that, they moved on to another subject.
She seemed to be backpedaling, as if she had offended him, and Gideon gave her a charming, placating smile. Of course she had done no harm... not yet, at least. Her opinions were bold, but even if they disagreed, he was more than willing to hear a good counterpoint, so long as it was argued well and in an intelligent fashion. ”My dear Ms. Adrastos, if you offend me, you'll know.” It was simple, curt, but honest. If nothing else, she would be bound to appreciate his honesty and his nature of pulling no punches, even when he wanted something from someone. And even though he didn't need her or her magazine, it would suit him and his newest endeavor well to have the publicity. ”But I do agree whole-heartedly with you about people refraining from being themselves just to please others, or for other less than noble reasons. If I am to dislike someone, I would rather do it from a place where I understood someone, rather than based on whatever other persona they chose to adopt.” Gideon was rather fond of his own identity, and had done well to try to be true to himself – or at least the version of himself that he'd created, rather than the one that had been thrust upon him during his creation – for as long as he could remember. The fact that he was living by his own rules helped, and he had done wonders, all on his own. That was something to be proud of, and even though Aquana was still living within her family's shadow, especially her mother's, from what he understood, he could respect that she was trying to shape her own fortune by making business ventures and other allegiances all on her own.
Which led to discussion about the actual state of his business and the design of his hotel. Gideon explained that he tried to cater to those with money, for a number of reasons. They could better appreciate the time, luxury, and effort he'd put into the hotel itself, were generally of a higher standard, which he could appreciate, and also didn't mind paying top-dollar for high-class room and other amenities. Of course, he had lots to spend money on – fantastic room service, a fully stocked bar down in the lobby, five star rooms... it was definitely paradise, for a price, and he was glad that Aquana appreciated his business model. ”Those who would settle for less shouldn't make reservations here.” Gideon said, meaning it to be his way of a making a joke. Of course, it was still a serious, true statement – he only wanted those who were looking for luxury. There were other hotels in town for those who were looking for a bargain.
Gideon stood and smiled, because it seemed that they were in business. The two of them just had to go over the final arrangements. ”Excellent. Would you like to adjourn to the office in my private suite upstairs, or head back down to the bar and discuss the finer details over drinks?”

Aquana could only nod as he spoke, who spoke of as a man who man many years of wisdom. Which could be possible considering the town they lived in, she was best friends with a demon so anything was possible. They way he spoke though, it was of knowledge power something that she always respected and admired. Which was one of the reasons she was with him now, he had a way about him that made you want to listen too him. While they were mainly here for business, the way he talked about such things. It showed that he also had a bigger picture in mind. Or at least had seen the words differently then others, which was never a bad thing.. Why people felt the need to limit themselves was beyond her. Even though she had a mother who breathed down her neck like a dragon, it didn't stop her from enjoying life or trying to expand her own company. This was something for her, nothing was going to take that away, she couldn't help but be curious about what brought Mr. Osbourne into the hotel business not many chose to run one, that would be for a different time though. At the moment they needed to finish the deal so to speak. Hearing him talk about the social standing for one last time she would just offer a small smile.
It seemed like it was a good time to talk about a different subject which they moved into smoothly. Her heels clicking against the floor, her eyes glancing around as others passed them by. Whispering into the ears about who they were or could possibly be. That seemed to never stop being amusing, yes they both had a presence too them. They looked of power and control something that Aquana wanted to show everyday she stepped out of the room, the world wasn't made for the meek and ill willed, but the strong and the bold. Those who took what they wanted and didn't quiver at the thought of something challenging them, no they took it all and kept being proud of their successes. " That is good to know, I doubt many live to see the next day if they offend you though Mr. Osbourne you have a certain way about you." She wasn't saying she knew what he was , hell for she knew he could be human, regardless though he had a power that people should respect and not trifle with.
" Yes because you can never show or be your true potential if you fear yourself, people should learn to embrace that they are, not to run from it. Too hide in the shadows as life passes you, it is something no one should ever wish for." Speaking of herself for a moment, everyone knew that she still lived in her mother's shadows. That was what happened when you still weren't an heir to the thrown, their mother was a force of her own, but she didn't plan nor did she want to live under it forever. Sooner or later something was going to give and she would make her move, it would be interesting to see who would be left standing after it all.
It seemed like this hotel had everything she would ever want, it called to power and class. Which Aquana was very pleased her, her fingers gently running over the railing of the stairs as they continued their walk and discussion it was a good conversation. " Your suite will be fine for this, then after I don't see why we can celebrate with a drink at the bar after our arrangement is finished.?" While she enjoyed drinks she also liked business to be done first and this way it allowed her to see more of the lovely hotel.

Aquana was a capable, respectful woman, which was something Gideon admired in anyone, not just women. That, and she had good business sense, which meant that he didn't have to tiptoe around anything, and could cut right to the chase. Such ways were exactly how he liked to conduct his business, unless someone wasn't intelligent enough to handle such a direct manner of approach, but Gideon seldom ever 'dumbed down' anything for anyone, unless he really needed something. But, in those cases, he tended to use a more underhanded approach toward getting what he wanted, since the individual who had what he wanted wouldn't have been considered anywhere near an equal at that point. The demon was good to maintain his business in a positive light, although there were some... investments he'd made that went far and beyond any 'respectable' business, such as Ryanna's slave trade and black market facilities. However, that was just good business for a man like him, and part of why he had people like Jyli and others whom he paid incredibly handsome wages to keep certain things under tight lock and key. Couldn't have some of his involvement leaking out to the general public, after all.
Aquana again proved her intelligence to him when she made the astute comment that he seemed to be a man with whom most wouldn't trifle, and a slow, almost wicked smile crossed the man's lips as she said such lovely words. Unless she knew how to dig deep, she likely wouldn't know of his species, and certainly wouldn't know that he was one of the first angels to not only be created, but become demon as well. Gideon was over three-thousand years old, and someone with a mortal lifespan would certainly not take that lightly, but he sensed her comment was more about his way of carrying himself, and the demeanor he possessed with every carefully practiced word he spoke. ”Oh, flattery would get you everywhere, Ms. Adrastos. However, I assure you nothing but correct assumption when you say such things – people have learned how to make smart decisions after one meeting with me, and others have needed some... instruction on how to behave.” Did he come right out and say that he could be forceful, violent, manipulative, and someone's worst nightmare? No. But did he really need to? The blonde mermaid was highly intelligent, and she would know exactly what he meant. Although he was no threat to her, so she was safe.
A dark, low, and dangerous chuckle fell from him, almost before he could stop himself and think better of it when she spoke about fear. Fear and rising to one's true potential without allowing oneself to be held back, which was something that Gideon never did. He was always ambitious, from the very beginning, which was why he took to the world beneath the Heavens with such tenacity and ferocity that he'd quickly risen to his rightful position of power. He was practically born for it. ”Only those with doubt can truly harness fear. Those who have confidence, a keen eye, and the right companions... those people fear nothing. I fear nothing.” Gideon knew, of course, on a level that he wouldn't admit that he did have one fear... but she was someone that he never spoke about. Not even to his closest allies.
After she made her decision about where to continue, Gideon led her up the elevator to his expansive, luxurious suite and the doors opened. He allowed her to enter first, and moved over to his desk where he grabbed some papers and his checkbook. ”Please make yourself comfortable,” Gideon stated, and then took a seat on a loveseat that cost him more than some people's monthly wages, and took a seat, handing over some of the papers in a manila envelope. ”I took the liberty of drawing up a contract with your business and my own, and thought that if the terms suit you, we could discuss a price that I'll pay you for your advertising and continued assistance in getting my hotel's name out to your circles.” Now he'd see how she could really play in the business world, although his doubts were few. The young mermaid was rather impressive, after all.
