Sighing grabbing a rag that was in her jeans pocket she wiped off the sweat that had seemed to gather on her forehead. While she Shelter was slowly coming more and more together. She still had some work to do, yes some people have already stayed there a few nights which Savannah didn't mind at all. As long as they felt safe that was what mattered. Moving another few boxes into a corner a breathe escaped her lips. This had been a dream of hers for a few years so she was happy that she was able to have it finally come to be now. While the means to get this far was anything but pleasant , it didn't mean that she wasn't happy with the end result. Scales was busy today so that just left her which she didn't mind. Before meeting up with Adriana she did her own things for pretty much her whole life. While it was nice to have company and someone to care for again. Savannah understood the need to be alone also. It was a way of life that she wouldn't complain about things just happened to go someways that time. Hearing some noises she just glanced around but didn't see anything. Must be some of the guests moving around, which they were more then welcome to do.
Opening some of the boxes she saw kitchen supplies and what not, heading to the kitchen she started to unpacking some plates and what not. Reflecting back on exactly how far she had come. Life had a very funny way of giving you what you want but also having a price for it. That was just the way the world was sometimes, not that Savannah cared either way. This was her life now , she was helping people who were like her , feeling trapped and scared. It was a horrible feeling to think if you were going to die one night or not because your husband decided you made a decent sized punching bag. A frown formed on her face as she drifted back to that time so long ago. Sometimes it could feel like mere moments that would take your breathe way, with just a single thought. Quickly shaking her head she finished unloading all of the plates and other kitchen supplies. Breaking down the cardboard she set that aside and headed back to the main room for the last bit of boxes.
Humming softly she started to think about how her night would go, maybe Ana would stop by her home for some drinks later. It all depended on here and if she was needed or not, while she had some people she trusted to keep this place alright and safe while she was gone. If she truly felt like there was danger or a threat to someone or themselves she would often just stay the night or few nights. It didn't bother her in the least, besides Ana had keys to her home so if she ever wanted to lounge in her pool or home she was more then welcome too. They had been though so much together Sav didn't really trust anyone else as much as she trusted her. Wanting to feel some fresh air she would go the the french style windows and open one allowing a nice breeze to wander though. Her door was always open for anyone who wanted to come by, so she would just continue setting up her new place and see what the day held.

Lea did her best to keep apprised of new locations that were helping out people on the light side or helping humans. Now that the war had started, Lea made sure that she was kept in the loop, and even though she was certainly not a warrior, she could help in other ways. The immortal had gathered a good bit of money, kept her business above ground even though she served some patrons that had conflicting viewpoints to her own, and sheltered humans where she could. Lea had even taken a few supernaturals under her wing, those that were affiliated with the 'light side' or were neutral, or those who had simply lost their way and were in need of someone to watch out for them. The redhead knew that she had always been a giving person, and since she had basically devoted her entire life to the cause of keeping others safe, she couldn't stop now that things were getting hard. Through her many contacts, Lea had learned that the light siders seemed to be horribly outnumbered in age, power, and experience because the 'dark side' forces were gathering fast. There was talk of a small group of individuals, some 'task force' that was growing, and perhaps even growing strong, but she wasn't going to risk exposure and her business by choosing to fight with them. No, Lea would find other ways to help and throw her hat in the ring.
When she had been told about a new shelter that was opening up, and was structured to look after women, children, and people who had suffered from domestic abuse, Lea had immediately been interested. Since she and Gabriel had built the Ol' Fisherman's Pub from the ground up (literally), she understood that starting in the beginning could be difficult, and figured that whoever was opening the shelter would likely be in need of assistance. Even though she had been working longer hours in Gabriel's absence, she was able to talk Mia into taking a few extra hours to cover for the beginning few hours of her shift that evening so she could go over to the shelter in the afternoon, introduce herself to a newcomer in town, and offer a helping hand where it was needed. Lea knew she could be useful, and even though she had been a little bit down about her abilities where war was concerned, she found that this might be the perfect outlet to make herself feel like she had more to contribute to the efforts.
Lea made it to 'Carpe Diem,' which was a rather appropriate name for the shelter, in her opinion, and made her way inside. After giving the place a look around and nodding at the décor – which was really quite lovely – her gray eyes landed on a blonde woman who was humming and had a rag in her pocket. Lea waved once their eyes met and gave the woman a dazzling smile. ”Excuse me, but are you the owner? My name is Lea Nathanson, and I thought I'd drop by and introduce myself...” Lea spoke softly, traces of her English accent over every syllable as she spoke. ”I own one of the taverns in the Upper State – the Ol' Fisherman's Pub, and I understand that you're probably in need of a few extra hands. I'd like to volunteer my time, if you're interested. I think it's wonderful what you're doing here.” The redhead didn't want to be too pushy, and she hoped the blonde would accept – she really just wanted to be useful, however she could manage.

Savannah wouldn't how know how long she was working or how much she was getting lost into her work until a a voice paused her. Her head would rise and she would take in the voice a beautiful woman wearing a very cute outfit, it was very classic yet chic if Savannah had her phrases right. It all changed so quickly with the world , the world seemed to be moving so fast lately it was always hard to keep up. A smile graced her features though , happy to know that some people have already heard of her shelter. Yes Savannah heard the whispers of a war coming to this town between light and dark forces, Savannah would have no part in it. She would help with that could though offering shelter to those who needed it. Knowing that it wouldn't but much but at least it would offer some aid. War was never her things her life was made around war and the last thing she wanted to be was part of another way. Who truly wanted to live that way , musing on those thought she shook her head. The last thing she wanted to do was look and seem like she was ignoring the woman who stepped into her place of work. Wiping her hand on the rag she would move past the boxes towards the red haired beauty.
" Oh yes I am the owner of this establishment. Savannah Pennington pleasure to meet you Ms. Nathanson. " Her voice would show her southern accent though and though , she never tired to hide that. While the memories of her home were not good ones , that didn't mean she wasn't afraid of showing she was from the south. Roots made you into the person you are today. While she knew it was probably a double standard, on how she felt and how she was running her own life. None that was important it was nice meeting someone else though. She seemed to be a kind hearted woman which Savannah would always enjoy the company of. The English was also alluring as well , not having heard many of those in her travel's it was always nice to hear different accents it was pleasing to the ears. Smiling she looked once more at the outfit the other woman was wearing then her own. Oh well she hadn't planned on meeting with company so thoughts of changing filled her mind for a moment or two before she spoke again. That is a lovely outfit your wearing by the way. Fits your form perfectly. Savannah always gave compliments were they were due and Lea deserved one at the moment for the way she wore and pulled of that clothing.
" Oh I will have to check that one then , thank you for the welcome. I have been wanting to no where a good place to grab a drink and some food is and it seemed liked I found it. " Her smile would widen with the words of her wanting to help out at the shelter it was so nice to know that others enjoyed helping humans and people like she did. There wasn't kindness in the world like this anymore so when she found it Savannah was always truly pleased. " I would love any help you have to offer , if you want I could pour us some iced tea and we could sit and talk about it more if you like. I could use a break from unpacking and such anyway. " Stepping aside she would head towards the kitchen to grab them both a drink if Lea accepted. " Care to join me in the kitchen, I would love for you to see the place that you would be spending your time at. "

The immortal was smart enough to assume that the person who was running the shelter was likely a nice, kind individual even though she usually hated making assumptions. The old adage had a tendency to come true sometimes, and Lea didn't like to make an ass out of herself or others. Still, there were some safe bets, and a shelter that took people in reminded Lea of what she was trying to do with her own business. Although she had limited space, she did have a few spare bedroom sized rooms that were in the downstairs area of the bar and an apartment up top that she rented out to Mia, who was a really nice, lovely young woman. Lea had taken a few people in during her stay in Manuka, letting them stay in the smaller rooms that were connected tot he bar, but it really wasn't meant to be a permanent sort of location – just a haven for people who needed a place to stay, or shelter from whatever storms they were trying to run from. The immortal wasn't a very judgmental person, and didn't ask very many questions when someone needed her help, but given her limited space and the fact that living in a bar – even for a short period of time – wasn't most people's ideal location. A place like the blonde was trying to build, however, seemed to be a much better location for people who needed a place to stay to get away from their troubles.
Lea was pleased with Savannah's introduction, and caught the way that the woman checked her out, even if it was subtle or probably more geared toward her outfit than anything else, although she did wonder. Lea had realized just how useless her outfit was for 'helping out' with building or straightening up and whatever when she compared herself to the more casual clothing that Savannah sported. However, even the basics looked really good on the blonde, and Lea found that her eyes might have lingered on certain... assets for longer than they probably should have, given that she was attempting to start some sort of a romantic relationship with Mona, her shy little chef. ”Oh please call me Lea. May I call you Savannah? It's such a lovely name.” Although Lea wasn't good with American accents, she did find the woman's to be charming, and recognized it as being from the Southern states, even though she hadn't found much time to explore the different regions of the USA. Lea had spent most of her seven hundred and fifty years exploring Europe with Gabriel, but she liked this new country just as much – although it did, sometimes, leave certain things to be desired.
Savannah commented on her outfit, finally, and Lea grinned in a cheeky way from ear-to-ear. ”I feel quite over-dressed, but you're really too kind.” Then, she raked her gray eyes over the blonde in a way that definitely was flirtatious and bit her bottom lip, ever so slightly. ”I find myself more impressed by the way you manage to look stunning in jeans and a t-shirt.” Lea had no shame, and no qualms about being forward – this meeting would likely go nowhere romantically, but perhaps the two of them could be friends. The redhead already knew that the blonde was a fellow immortal, and younger than her, but had definitely seen her share of a few centuries, which was impressive enough. Lea never cared much for age – really, even if you had forever, it was still just a number. ”Any time you'd like to visit, I'd be honored by your company. My chef is really wonderful, comes up with the most creative things.” Then, they got to talking about why Lea had really shown up: her offer to volunteer, which was immediately accepted, even if Savannah seemed a little surprised that she was so willing.
”I'm not sure how much help I'll be today, love, but I'd be grateful for the drink. It's still bloody hot outside, even though they say summer's ending,” Lea said, giving her a charming smile and following her to the kitchen, where she took a seat and gave Savannah the opportunity to play hostess. ”So, Savannah... why don't you tell me a little more about what you're doing here? I've only heard rumors, but they're all good things.”

Savannah couldn't help but be happy with the woman who wandered into her shelter, Adriana had been here plenty of times of course. This though was another woman who she could possibly a friendship growing with. She was a lot older then herself, an immortal was well though which was a pleasing thought. Knowing that you weren't the only one of your kind in a town. Now if it never got brought up that they were the same Savannah would be fine with that, it was never her place to questions such things. Instead she would just welcome the company and continue work on her shelter when she wasn't doing things at home. Moving was always a pain having done it enough in her life time she would have thought she got over the annoyance of it all. Sadly nope it was still there , not as strong as her younger years, but still a slight annoyance none the less. Why moving never seemed to get easier was beyond her , she wouldn't question it though. Moving allowed her to make all of this possible, something that she truly wanted. So she would smile and finish unpacking and just be able to enjoy the new part of her life. Right now though enjoy the beautiful company she was graced with was at the top of her list.
Lea was such a pretty name , it was short and sweet if were wanted to go by those standers. She would smile and continue to gather them their drinks and a few crackers and cheese trays if they were feeling peckish. Moving a lot did make you hungry at least it did for Savannah she wasn't going to assume that other people were. She would smile towards Lea and nod. " Yes of course you may call me Savannah. I know sometimes Pennington can be a bit of a mouth full." She truly wouldn't have minded either way it was just nice to know that people still had manners to ask if it was alright to do. She knew though Lea was from a different time then normal society now , so she would have the manners that they were both accustomed too. " Thank you for the compliment. Lea is a beautiful name in itself as well." It had been awhile since she was in a woman's company who she wasn't close with. Adriana and her were close but it was a different sort of relationship.. This was one was going well so far at least in Sav mind it was. Time would tell though but she was enjoying it so far she didn't see any reason why that would chance.
Chuckling softly she would bring over the two tea's and small tray of food that they could enjoy. There was nothing wrong with looking good, Savannah enjoyed doing that as well most of the time. Just for moving around things and such it was impractical, then again anyone approaching the Shelter today would have had no idea what was going on so there was no reason to feel bad for what they were wearing. Her eyes would catch Lea's tone of her compliment and her reactions. Her own tongue would lick her licks ever so slightly before she took a drink of tea. Small thoughts of what she would want to do with the woman enter her mind for a small moment before being pushed aside. They had just met, there was no time for that and it wasn't polite, was there small flirting going on back and forth possible, but that didn't mean it needed to get so deep right away. " Thank you , you flatter me. I just needed to wear something I could easily move around in with boxes so this was what I got. I thank you for the compliment." She was being forward but nothing was ever gained by being shy. " Maybe later I will freshening up and wear a outfit that is better then a jeans a t shirt. " If Lea would still want to be in her company by then of course she could have other things to do, but she could toss that idea out there.
" Oh I love new idea for food. I tend to just cook good old southern food, from fried Chicken and what not, so anything that could spice to it I would be pleased. I will come and check it out then. " Sav still needed to check out the town that she had just appeared in , while she heard a lot about of it from her friend, seeing it for herself was something completely different. " That's alright I think I am pretty much done for the work I wanted to do today. It is just all about organizing now and putting things in there place. Yes it was quite warmer then what I imagined but it is nice. " Sipping her tea again she would munch on some cheese and crackers listening to Lea speak. Clearing her throat with a final drink she would look to Lea with a warm smile. " My friend called me down here actually, she said that I could do good here with my idea for a shelter. So I gathered my stuff and moved. I just wanted to make a difference in people's lives. Letting them know that if they ever feel scared , about where they live they know there is a safe haven for them to stay at. And I wanted a change in pace Florida was getting a little tiring after awhile. What else have you heard about me though I am quite curious if you don't mind me asking ?"

Usually, the redhead was used to playing hostess, and was pleasantly surprised when the blonde started preparing snacks for them once Lea introduced herself and stated the reason behind her visit. Really, she had just wanted to be neighborly and offer some of her extra hours – Lea was a social creature, but if there were good works to be done, she wanted to take part in them. Also, she found that her apartment was more lonely now than it had been when she shared it with Gabriel – even though she knew he was well, she felt the loss of his presence every single day. But they had spent years apart before, and she had faith that one day the two of them would meet again – no matter what happened, they always seemed to find their way back to one another eventually. She was comforted by the knowledge that he would want her to go out and meet new people, have new experiences, and maybe even find someone to while away a few hours or a few nights with, if her curiosity was piqued enough. Lea wasn't in love with the man or anything, but she loved him dearly and he was her oldest companion, so she knew him better than anyone else, and knew that he would never, ever be the jealous type. No doubt he was off with some pretty woman (or man) in his bed, so why shouldn't she be able to do the same? Not that this meeting was going anywhere intimate, but there was always the option for her. For now, however, she was intent to enjoy the hospitality, and be grateful for the fact that she was being treated like a guest, and therefore wouldn't have to be focused on being the one to entertain. ”Pennington – it's a good surname. English? I swear, we had neighbors with a similar name when I was young. Oh, but that was many years ago.” Many, many years. More than seven centuries, but she would be willing to guess that this woman's origins were more specific to the USA... she didn't feel to be that old, but age never mattered to the redhead.
”Ah well, you could thank my mother for the name. She's long passed, but did have a knack for choosing names when she was alive. Chose the names for me and my three older brothers, strong names for good men.” She missed her family, and even though she knew that her brothers would likely have not taken to the immortal life, she wished that she had been able to spend more time with them. But then... if they hadn't been taken from her in such a savage manner, and too soon, she might have died with them instead of living out the ages as she would now. Avery, Carlisle, and Michael were all good men – her brothers and her had always been close, especially since she was the youngest, and the only girl. A few men in her history had reminded her of the characteristics of her brothers, though none enough to replace that brotherly role in her life – Gabriel and Crawford were both good men, too, even though generally, she felt more of a closeness with women.
Her closeness with women wasn't just in a friendly way – even though Lea loved men, she had noticed a pattern throughout the years of more women landing in her bed. Even recently, most of her lovers and romantic interests had been women, but she supposed that even people who were going to live forever could get into a pattern. She had experienced patterns a few times, and knew that eventually, the tides would shift. Unless they didn't, but that wasn't for her to know until she was living in the moment instead of looking ahead to the possibilities of the future. She found herself flirting with Savannah, and liking that she could find a woman who could return her banter – intelligence was such a turn-on, after all. ”No need to change on my account, love; few women can pull off the casual look, and I know you've plenty to do around here. However... I'm certain that in more upscale venues, you do clean up very nicely.” The idea of the blonde in a shorter skirt that would show off what were likely excellent legs... yum. Now the redhead was getting ahead of herself, so she followed the blonde to the kitchen and took a seat. ”Well, Mona went to culinary school in Italy, but she does all sorts of modern twists on the classic English pub food – that's what I wanted the place to be. It's designed after a tavern that my father operated when I was a girl, but we have more than just the standard fare. She really does a lovely job.” Mona was a talented little thing, and Lea didn't want to gush on her too much when she was in the company of another woman, even if her chef had ensnared her romantic interest for the time being. They got to talking about the shelter, drinking tea, and eating snacks, and Lea took a sip of her beverage. ”This is delicious, by the way. I'm not used to having tea so sweet, but it's really nice. Especially on a day like today. Thank you.”
Lea took a bite out of a cracker with some cheese on it, and decided to respond to the blonde's question – it was a simple answer, and all the things she'd heard were positive, anyway. ”Nothing about you, love, but about the shelter. You know that the war has started, right? Those of us on the side that gives a damn about humanity are starting to cluster and well, I'm useless on a battlefield, but I'd like to help where I could. I heard about this establishment, and felt that it might serve more useful to my capabilities. I run a smaller scale sort of safe haven out of my bar; just two small rooms and an apartment on top, but it's enough to help those that really need it.” Lea explained, wondering what Savannah thought of the war. ”And I'd love to help you, specifically. You seem like a fascinating woman.” And fascinating women were something of a specialty of Lea's.

Savannah couldn't help but smile hearing about her last name, it was funny but probably true. Thoughts of the past started to fill her mind, how long had it been since she thought of her family. She missed them so much when they passed, hated them for having her deal with her abusive husband. It was a mess and ugly but that was in the past she needed to move forward from it, but damn it was hard. While she knew she wouldn't have gotten this far without her family, she still missed them and hated them at the same time. Was that normal to love and hate something so much. Well even if it wasn't she seemed to be feeling that sometimes when her thoughts wandered. This wasn't the time to think of such depressing thoughts though, she had a stunning sex red head right now in her place of business and she was thinking of such sobering things. No that just wouldn't do, it was time to enjoy her company and now dwell on her past. At least not now, there would always be time to think on it later. A smirk and small chuckle would pass her lips now just nodding her head before taking a sip of her tea. Iced Tea that never got tiring over the years it was still as refreshing and delicious as it was when she was on her plantation. " Probably, it wouldn't surprise me in the least so at least we know we both have similar background." Wow if she didn't feel old at the moment she did for a split second saying that.
" Yes mothers always seem to have a way with names, named myself as well. I don't think I would half the woman I was without my mamma. How three brother you came from a big family. I am sure they were a riot a minute." Savannah never had a big family just herself and her parents. She didn't mind that but wondered if maybe things might have been different if she had other siblings. Oh well everything that happened to her, maybe her the woman who she was now, so that is something she would always be thankful for. " No wonder you look so tough either, had to stay strong with the three boys in your family. " Sav always found that inner strength and confidence sexy which Lea seemed to have no problems showing, that making her all the more attractive. Something about strength in woman, it was so hard to find in this day in age, but more older skilled woman, they had no problems showing it. Making them all the more alluring, maybe it happened because they all came from a time where woman had no power, thus making them stronger and showing they had it even now. Sav didn't mind that in the least.
A wink would be given to Lea at the comment of her dressing up, she did dress up on occasion and rather enjoyed the look she got from them. Maybe now she would have more of an excuse to do it, if that mean Lea would be hanging around more often. " Well maybe one night you will be able to see me like that, I wouldn't mind the company it would be nice to go out and explore the town. Yes if Lea looked like that now for casual wear, picturing her in a more classy setting was just as sexy, her eyes her body skin tone everything about her was sexy and perfect. It had been awhile since Sav was able to admire the beauty of a woman. She didn't mind it in the least and if it meant down the line it would allow her to get a date with her, well she was all the more for it. " Well all of that sounds delicious so I will make sure to drop by for a visit once everything is set up here. I always enjoy tasting food and getting idea from what I have tried." It was nice to meet people who still enjoyed cooking as a passion, instead of getting quick and instant food. So if someone had skill and enjoyed cooking with a twist then Sav would be more then happy to try all of it. " Oh your welcome, it was a family recipe from years back. It's all about how long you let the tea seep and the sugar you add to it. It is quite the balance of the two." It was nice to know that other didn't mind the sweetness of her tea. Some find it a little strong but Sav just found it just right and perfect for a day like this.
A frown would pass her lips about the mention of the war, yes she knew all about that light vs dark. Good versus evil it was sickening and Sav could only hope that she could help all the people she needed. " Yes I have it's a troubling situation I only hope that not too many people get hurt, I am not much of a fighter myself but I will offer help where I can and shelter for those who need it. Bu tI understand the need for the war but that doesn't mean I am a fan of it. But it will happen regardless of what I want." Hearing Lea had something of a halfway house as well made her smile. " Well I am sure those who stay there are just thankful for a roof over there head. I just wanted to make a difference in the world, I was tired of hurt people falling though the cracks and I wanted to change it." Her southern accent stronger now that she was talking about something she was passionate about. " What about yourself, you are a strong confident sexy woman. What brought you to this town.? "

Interpersonal relationships were always interesting to Lea, who had both seen and experienced many different types of interactions throughout the seven centuries that she'd walked the earth. Yet, it never failed to surprise her how two people could have such an immediate, startling connection. The immortal considered herself to be a friendly, generous sort – she liked to make everyone feel important and welcome, because why not? But there was something different about how she and Savannah seemed to hit it off, right off the bat, laughing and joking with one another as if they were old friends from many, many years ago. There had even been a moment when Lea had racked her brain trying to think of some happenstance where their paths might have crossed a few hundred years or so ago – she still wasn't certain as to the other immortal's age, but that didn't really matter – but couldn't think of an instance that popped up, despite the sharpness of her memory. Granted, it wasn't flawless, but for being as old as she was, it was still very good, and she was quite positive that they'd never met before. The blonde that was standing before her certainly wouldn't have been someone she would have forgotten. ”Mm, similar. It seems we have quite a few things in common already. Although I am curious as to where that charming accent hails from. I'm not as familiar with the American provinces, as I've spent much of my time in Europe. Oh, but I guess they're called 'states' now, aren't they?” It was a little joke, because obviously she knew what the states were called – she wasn't dumb or anything, but she was hoping to learn a little more about the other parts of Savannah. Her history. History had always been another interest of Lea's, and they both could obviously tell the other's species by now. Immortals just had that ability, reading auras to tell species, infiltrating the mind.
Lea liked using her powers, but tried to keep them under control so she wasn't broaching on someone's privacy unless it was for the benefit of others, or their safety. More often, she'd rather someone else just tell her their stories without her having to pluck it from their heads. It was a quirk. Speaking of stories, they got onto the subject of family, and even though it was something that pained Lea to think about most times, she had nothing but fond memories of growing up in her family with her brothers and their adoring, hard-working parents. It was only the tragedy that befell her family at the end that caused her to lose sleep at night, but before that, everything had been... well, it was almost surreal how happy they were, which was why Lea tried never to take anything for granted, especially the good things. ”I adored my mother, too. And my brothers! Oh, they were certainly a riot, as you say... but I loved them all dearly. Never a dull moment, as the saying goes.” The redhead's voice got quiet for a moment as she allowed herself to dwell in memories of the past, but not too long, lest she bring up more questions that she had the desire to answer. At least to someone she barely knew, despite how comfortable they already seemed to be toward each other. ”I don't know that I'd call myself the 'rough and tumble' type at all – a bit too dainty for all of that. I can say that I was a very fortunate youngest child to have three strong men to take care of me all the time. They'd get vicious if someone so much as looked at me the wrong way. But that's brothers for you.” She laughed a little, letting the good memories take the place of the bad ones, since there were way more good ones than negative.
”Did you come from a large family, Savannah?” Never one to talk too much about herself without taking an interest in others, Lea opened the floor for Savannah to talk a little about what was likely a fascinating history. Then, the two women made their way to the kitchen for tea and snacks, where they talked more about the food at Lea's bar, which was all artfully crafted by her lovely chef, Mona. Mona... even though she knew she was flirting – and rather heavily – with Savannah, she still thought about the shy little blonde and was hopeful that things would get off the ground with her. Even though it was tempting, the little offer that Savannah had made about the two of them going out on the town together. ”I do enjoy showing people a good time, so I might have to take you up on that offer sometime. Perhaps an outing at my pub, kill two birds with one stone so you can try all the food and see some of the night life.”
After a few more compliments and flirting, the conversation turned serious – the war, of course. Lea hated war, and had seen more than a few of them in her time. For whatever reason, the human race, precious as it was, continued to find reasons to want to fight with and kill one another, and this time it was only made worse by the fact that stronger supernaturals wanted to either enslave them or force their way into the open by whatever means necessary. While a part of Lea did think it might be a relief not to have to hide who and what she really was, she didn't know if the world was ready to handle the fact that so many of the species they thought to be mythical actually existed, and frequently in a more terrifying way than they had ever expected. ”It's good work that you're trying to do here, Savannah, and I honestly don't think it could have come at a better time. Which is why I'd love to be of assistance, any way I can. If I see something or someone that's worth the investment of my time, I'm nearly relentless.” Then, Lea's sharp ears caught the physical compliment that Savannah snuck in to her next question.
”You flatter me, darling, really. I'm afraid there's no glamorous story other than the fact that I always wanted to find a way to re-create the tavern that my father owned when I was a girl, and I felt that this country was in desperate need of some English culture. My dearest friend and I bought the pub together, as business partners, and now he's gone back to his travels, so I'm running the show alone. The end,” Lea gave a cheeky little smile and took another bite out of her cracker, hoping that she wouldn't be some great disappointment because she didn't have as good of a story with as pure of intentions.
