I have come so far, thought I was so strong The truth is I've just fed myself a lie for too long I never thought this would be me
[/style]There had been a lot of pressure on Riley as of late. The pressure was first put on him when he had first gotten back into contact with Julian, who had told him he should reveal himself to his family. Then he had seen Darby in the forest and even though she hadn’t said as much, he could tell by the way she spoke about Damon that she didn’t like that he hadn’t come clean about still being alive. He had talked to Julian again and his ghost friend had once again brought up the subject. Riley knew Jules was right, but he couldn’t bear to see the disappointment in his family’s eyes when they realized what he was and why it was that he was a demon. Failing at being a guardian angel—especially when his charge was Darby—was going to be hell. His father was going to be really pissed when he found out about the whole situation and he just wasn’t ready for that.
But he knew he had to at least come out to the people he was closest to. He would have gone straight to Damon, but he needed to start off slowly. Calan was his next choice. He would have shown one or both of his sisters, too, but he wanted to talk to Calan about some things anyways. For one, he wanted to get some insight about what the hell had happened with him and Julian and if it meant he was gay, or if it was a one time thing. He couldn’t really explain himself to his brother because Damon was a bit of a homophobe and he didn’t want to get those judgmental looks the first time he reconciled with him. Calan was the perfect person to talk to about it because Calan was gay and was in a relationship.
While Riley didn’t understand or like the idea of Calan with Shay, there was nothing he could do about it. The two were in love and that was that. Riley just wished Calan was older or Shay was younger so that their age gap wasn’t so intense. But Riley didn’t want to bring that up. He wanted to forget about Calan’s relationship and why he disliked it so much. Today was about their reunionand maybe some advice on Julian (in Riley’s mind at least).
So he walked down the street towards where Calan lived. He had prepared a little speech in his head so that when he finally saw Calan again he’d be able to say what he wanted to say without revealing everything that had happened after Remy killed him. But before he reached Calan’s place, he saw his cousin walking along the sidewalk. Instinctively Riley hid behind a man and went invisible to the world. A second later he felt stupid and shook his head, mentally hitting himself. He had grown accustomed to disappearing whenever he saw someone he knew from his past life. So he became visible and walked towards Calan. Riley felt his heart pick up speed with nervousness and he clenched his fists by his side.
Finally he got the courage to say, barely audibly, “Calan…”
