Jesse had got out of work early today, leaving at one instead of his usual four or five o'clock and he planned on putting that extra free time to good use. One of Leila's cameras had started acting up a few weeks ago but she hadn't had the chance to take it to the camera shop in the city to see about getting it looked at. She still had another camera but the broken one he knew was her favorite and she'd been upset when it appeared to no longer want to work properly. She'd had it for a few years he knew that much because he'd been the one who bought it for her one year for her birthday and though she used it a lot since then the girl was always painstakingly careful with her cameras.
She hadn't said it but he knew there was another reason she hadn't taken it to get looked at yet and that was the money factor. They weren't exactly swimming in the stuff seeing as they both only worked minimum wage jobs for now and had rent to pay and other necessities. Were they the poorest people in Manuka? Probably not by a long-shot but extra things such as repairing a camera wasn't at the top of the list to be taken care of you could say. Jesse hated that was how it was even though Leila never once complained and worked her butt off same as him to keep them afloat. Which was why he'd done some extra work at the McCreedy Ranch the past week and put in some overtime so that he could complete this secret mission today.
Leila had already gone into work at the coffee shop when he arrived back at their apartment and therefore it was quite easy to get the camera in question without raising any suspicion from her. The little photography shop was only a few blocks down from their place and boasted not only repairs but just about everything else you could need for your camera or photo needs. It took him less than ten minutes to reach the store and after talking to the owner of the place was informed that they would be glad to take a look at the camera to see what they could do. Told it would be about an hour or so he thanked the older man behind the counter and left hoping it could be fixed. Left with some time to kill he wandered down the sidewalk, window shopping for the most part until he came to the area that boasted different vendors selling fresh produce and other things of that sort. Among them was a stand that held just about every single kind of flower you could imagine, sold individually so that you could make your own bouquet as well as pre-made ones ready to be bought then and there.
Thinking that flowers would be the perfect addition to the (hopefully) repaired camera he'd be bringing back for her he browsed slowly even though he already knew her favorites and could have easily made up a bouquet in no time flat. Still he had the time so why not look around a bit?
