There wasn’t many people whom he knew whom he didn’t find out about. If they exchanged names, anyone could be that he was remembering that name. Looking it up later. Not really anything internet style. Ha, don’t make him laugh. The internet was a bit of an annoyance for someone like Nick. Like it was a fantasy of lies spread all over there. He had yet to use it. He just got a car for goodness sake. No, the way he looked up things was talking to others. Figuring out the city. One good thing about the size of Manuka was it wasn’t very hard to find someone who at least heard about them. Sometimes, he didn’t go out and search for it. Sometimes the answers just appeared on his lap. Talking enough could really get someone to slip up, especially the way that Nick easily swayed his words. Manipulative and evil. Yep, that was Destin Nicolas. He wouldn’t have it any other way.
This one was troubling though. There wasn’t much about her he figured out. So he did what any rational man would have in his shoes. He met up with her again. He didn’t want to meet up with her and start investigating her. Ugh, that’d make him look like a modern cop or something. No, he was going to be more clever than that. Everything very subtly. There was something about this woman that he was sure about. It was like she was hiding something she didn’t want the rest of the world to find out. In that way, it made him want to figure it out even more. Now, people seemed to misunderstanding him on this whole blackmailing thing. He didn’t eventually plan to blackmail every single individual he met. That would be stupid and quite frankly- looking like he was trying to hard to gain things he didn’t want. No, all of this was just ‘in case’ type of situations. He didn’t want to use them (okay that was a lie, some he did want to spill depending on the case), but not always. No, not always. Some weren’t even interesting, but the person just wanted to keep it hushity hush. Sometimes he didn’t even know the secret. He just said things to imply he did. Bluff, as they call it.
Did he expect to find out from this one visit? No. Whatever it was, she probably was careful about it, and though Nick had seen her three other times, he didn’t expect the fourth to be a winner or anything. No. If luck stroke him, then he would figure it out. Life would be good, and he would be as happy as a pig at lunch time. Oh, he wouldn’t push any information away or not try, but he also knew that he couldn’t be expecting very much. As manipulative and evil as Nick was, he was full of logic. What can be done and what can’t. One of the world’s biggest problems was people focused so much on the things that couldn’t be helped. No, you can’t help what an entire country is doing to the planet on the other side of the world when you were trying all you could. It could be helped if you wanted someone dead and needed to figure out where he was. Which was another complicated issue he was going to deal with. He hoped with this war starting around them, he could manage to spot him trying to crawl in the ranks. Nick certainly would crawl in the rankings himself. Soon the humans would be under supernatural hands. It was as simple as that.
This was meant to be harmless for the both of them though. So far, from what he got, she was a smart woman. Smarter than he expected women to be. He wouldn’t voice that to her, of course, as there was no reason to make an unneeded enemy. Despite what others thought, enemies were not fun for him. What was fun about someone wanting you dead? Absurd. He asked her to meet him here. In a very loud crowded area with lots of noise. Somewhere where she probably would have hated to go. Make her distracted by all the pretty little surroundings. If she did like this place, then there we go. He couldn’t lose on this one. The man waited for the newly acquaintance to walk in the door, as he positioned himself in the middle but in view of the door.
