[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M GONNA GIVE ALL MY SECRETS AWAY The Words: 1144 The Outfit: here The Notes this song and here we go! Antala loved to go to the St. Amanda's Hall, because there were so many good musicians and magicians and it was just.. so alive there. Sometimes she'd go there with her guitar and play a few songs, or join some merpeople who were always there and sing with them. It was easy, especially to entertain the oblivious humans in the crowd, because for them it was all just plain magic. They didn't know that their 'magic' really existed, they thought it were all just illusions, really talented people, and that magic wsa something for in books and not for in real life. But it was. They just did not see it when it happened right in front of them. It amused her. And it took her mind off things and there were a lot of things Antala did not want to think about. So it was time to leave and to make her way downtown, walking fast, faces pass and all that jazz. So she got out of her PJs, changed into decorated hosiery, a sweater which indicated that she had issues, a white skirt that matched, her stuffed boots with heels and some bag and that was it. It was still cold, but the sun was shining and it was warm enough for her to go out without a jacket. All she did was slide her trademark black beanie on her her head, one thing she was hardly seen without when it was winter. And cold. Antala hated the cold, basically. She inquired her parents that she'd be gone for a while, just visiting St. Amanda's Hall for some jamming, nothing too seriously, swung her guitar over her shoulder and made her way out of the house.
Antala's head was fairly full lately, too full for her to grasp all the details of it. Firstly there was Luka Lahey, who did not leave her mind no matter how hard she was trying to get him out of there. He was annoying, rude and obnoxious, he was a bad boy and he was no merman, so there was no way in which he could be fitting for Antala Adrastos and yet her mind couldn't help but continiously picturing herself with him. It was the old trap all over again and she knew that she just had to avoid him and be hostile if she saw him. Any time she saw him. But Tala had already been hostile and it hadn't worked. He had just as easily disregarded her brutality and came back with sarcastic remarks that could only make her smile. He had made her smile, damn, that was not what the plan had been. And if it wasn't enough, there was also the debacle with Weston. Oh god, if anyone found out about that, she'd be so dead. But her thoughts about that drifted away as she entered the place of destination, a smile on her face as she saw her merpeople friends to jam with. They greeted her all kindly and enthusiastically, since they hadn't seen Antala in a while. Well, logically since she had had exams with college and had been so fucking busy with studying. Tala wanted to become a lawyer, and lawschool was difficult. And a lot of studying. And though she actually had to be studying now, the mermaid needed some time for herself, to get things off her chest.
Like Weston. Antala was getting so nervous from this situation she had created with her friend. Sure, it had been her own proposal, and she was grateful that he had wanted to help her, but she was getting paranoid and knew this shit would hit the fan sooner or later. Why on earth had she thought that pretending to date a merman was a good idea? Both Weston and her knew their feelings for each other were nothing but friendship and pretending to date in front of her parents was always awkward and they were always anxious to be found out and all. Adding that the whole situaton with Luka and there could be said that the brunette was keeping a lot from her parents and knew that if they'd find out, Attina would kill her, not to mention Aquana and this was not a view Antala was looking forward to."C'mon Tala, sing us a song, we haven't heard your pretty voice in so long." One of her friends nudged her, and made Antala smile. A song, yeah that would probably help. Her fingers rhythmically glided over the strings as she started playing. Her merfriends joined in with a guitar, or ticking on the stone stairs of the hall, creating a rhythm, but no one song. Just Antala's voice echoing over the place.
"I want you in my bed in a minute flat, let's hit the backseat of your cherry cadilac. I bet you never guessed or came prepared for this. I like your bow tie, glasses on your eyes. You better push that gear down into the fifth and hit the gas pedal with a hell a kick. I wanna feel the heat, your tires grip that street. I like your straight-A style, can't wait another mile." |
[/i] Like always, the music took control of Antala Adrastos. She did not even notice the people who staring at the gathering of merpeople who were jamming up those stairs and stood there watching the scala of sounds and rhythms that all matched up together in a brilliant song, all turning around Antala's voice. If she let it, the brunette's voice had a rough edge that totally did not fit her as person. Personalitywise, the strong, yet high pitched and well schooled classical musical voice fit so much better. It was what Attina liked to hear, so it was what Attina got. But here, with her friends in the open, in freedom? Antala liked to rock off her socks. After the song finished, the girl got interrupted by her phone and got up, sliding her guitar over her shoulder, as she picked up her iPhone, not even looking at the person who called her. "Weston? What? Look, I dunno, okay. Ofcourse I'm anxious. I'm scared out of my wits, but seriously, Wes, how on earth could they find out we're lieing to them and you're not really my boyfriend? I mean, we've been discreet nothing can go-" Antala stopped walking, her jaw dropping a little as she stared into a pair of very familiar eyes. Too familiar. Damn. "-Wes, I'm gonna call you back later. Okay? Bye, I love you." The little 'I love you' at the end should indicate enough for her friend about her situation and that she was in the neighbourhood of a family member. "H-Hi, Hermes. What are you doing here?" Antala said rather awkwardly, shoving her phone back into the pccket of her sweater. Damn, this was not good. [/div] [/center][/td][/tr][/td][/tr][/table][/center]

St.Amanda's ey?
It didn't take long for Hermes to switch off his Mac and proceed to kill fifteen minutes by playing with his Corgi puppies and throwing a basketball towards the ceiling. You could say that Hermes was going to stalk his sister in a bit, or rather, more like he had found the perfect excuse to get out of the house. There was only so much of insults he could take from his mother and sister, about him being a total failure. Shit, he didn't need fucking recorders repeating the sane shit over and over again in his ears. It was complete madness. His inferiority complex was doing no help in blocking them out, the notion that he was a worthless piece of crap had long since implanted in his head, and Hermes usually had a thick skull when it came to listening. Not when it came to things like this, unfortunately.
Picking up his guitar, casually slinging it over his shoulder, Hermes threw the window open and leaped out gracefully, freefalling out of the mansion that he apparently called home. There was a loud crack as his body smacked into his mother's precious rose bushes. Thorns ripped nastily into his clothing, but the boy paid them no mind. His only main concern was his guitar, which he had clung on to when he had been falling, his back cushioning whatever impact it would have received had he not been careful. Picking himself up, he brushed off stray thorns and pink flowers from his shirt before walking, whistling gaily. His mother would have plenty to say about the plants and his current state, but like he could give a fuck at the moment.
When he reached the hall, the first thing he noticed was the crowd. A thin smile spread across the boy's lips as his listened to the songs coming from the hall. Recognizing Antala and her friends' voices among the cacophony, Hermes stood by the sides of the hall and quietly listened, grinning to himself. She was indeed using her mermaid given gifts well, the crowd were practically hypnotized. All they needed now was him, and they would explode. Throwing another Adrastos into the mix would create pandemonium. They were just that good.
When the song was over, he looked around for his sister, perhaps greet and chat with her for a bit before leaving again, but she was nowhere to be found. Brows furrowing into a tiny frown, he walked away from the hall and into the opposite direction, wondering where he should head off to now. As he sauntered along, he heard a familiar voice, and looked up. Antala was on her phone, her eyes looking everywhere but at him, and as he drifted closer, he inconspicuously eavesdropped on her words. An eyebrow rose as he rolled over the words in his head, and a slow grin spread over his features. Not her boyfriend? She had a boyfriend? Discreet? Oooohhhh my, someone was rebelling. What did momma say about boys, eh, Tala? And here he thought that she was trying to groom herself into another Aquana! Big surprises did come in tiny packages. And his sister was tiny.
His grin didn't hesitate to widen when Tala finally noticed him, and made the wise decision to end her call with a faux 'i love you.' Hermes halted in his tracks, looking at her with bright eyes that sparkled with mischief. "Nuthin," replied the younger boy. "Just eavesdropping. Who's Westonnnnnnnn~?" He pulled on the name, almost singing it in his baritone voice. "You didn't tell us you had a *ahem* boyfriend."
"What would our bitchy mom say?"

See? This was fucking exactly why Antala didn't lie. She gazed at Hermes, a little bit caught off-guard because she didn't know what he had heard and why he was listening anyways. And shit, she couldn't lie. Antala never ever lied, because that only caused her to sink further into the shit. "Why were you even eavesdropping, I've got nothing to hide." She said, though her voice wasn't completely cooperating, as she fidgeted with her sweater. Antala hated lieing, jesus, she never stood a change when it came to that stuff. She wished she had never talked Weston into pretending to be her boyfriend. He was a great frien for doing that, really, but she just knew it was awkward and they both were scared as fuck that they would get caught. And Antala was doing a great job in getting caught. Lieing was just not for her, unlike Hermes and Jamila, who were perfectly able of telling a lie with a straight face, unlike Antala who would get all nervous and fidgety and blushing and feel so awkward that she ended up spill the beans anyways. That was just how she was, who she was, and there was nothing she could change about it. The fact that Hermes had been eavesdropping on her was enough to alarm her already, because she didn't know what the hell he knew.
But it was only because her mother was so incredibly annoying about the whole 'finding a fit merman and getting married' stuff. The mermaid really wasn't ready to get married yet, she did not want to, she did not strive to, hell, the way things were arranged for her, she did nto want to get married at all. But at least she wanted to finish college and all first. The girl reallyreallyreally did not want to become some dependant housewife, that was not for her. And now she got Weston, atleast it was partly off her chest and partly off her shoulders. Aquana didn't whine anymore, her mother didn't nag the entire time, they did not try to set her up anymore. Life was good. Now if only she managed to avoid Luka some more, that would be perfect really. Life would be perfect. Eventhough the smart part in Antala said that lif was never perfect and that secretly she really liked to see Luka, even if they only dished sarcastic remarks at each other, but those were details Antala surpressed for the purpose of her own good. There was no way such things ever worked out and Luka didn't like her anyways. And she didn't like him either, damn.
But now there were other concerns to take care off. "Weston is my boyfriend." Antala said, trying to sound more secure and rather annoyed about this investigation, but honestly, all she felt was nervous and anxious. And it was really showing off, okay, it always did. "And mother already knows, she has met him already and she thinks he's a delightful young man. Haven't you noticed how she stopped trying to find me a fit merman? I found one." Antala said, though her whole composure still hadn't been fully regained, at least she managed to sound a little more normal. This was so much more easy when you knew the other didn't know or suspect anything. The brunette knew she was most probably making a huge fool out of herself with this act in front of Akakios, because most probably he heard everything, but well, it was worth trying, wasn't it?

Antala could not lie for balls, and he knew, that she knew, that he knew it. It was too easy to dig crap out of her. Although to always tell the truth was indeed a noble trait to have, there were times when lying was needed to save your own ass. Such as now. To be honest, his older sister did not to worry about him telling on her because Hermes did know how it felt to struggle while underneath the radar, but he had to admit, he was enjoying tormenting his sister, if not playfully. It did not matter to him on whether she had a fake boyfriend or not because really now, it was none of his business, but he knew full well that his mother would plenty to say about her lying. With both Attina and Aquana grooming her in making her another them, there was no doubt that the pair were keeping a sharp eye on the little brunette. The consequences of them finding out about this fake boyfriend, well, Hermes wasn't too keen on pondering over the idea.
"Bull. Shit." was the merman's simple, playful reply, swinging his arms. The large grin was still plastered on his face, showing no signs of disappearing, This was fun. "It doesn't matter why I was eavesdropping....your you-know-what secret is out hoohoo." Waggling his eyebrows at her, he crossed his arms over his chest and stood his ground. Antala wasn't going anywhere until he was done with her. That is, unless she decided to do a 180 and walk off, but he would still be able to catch up and block her. He wasn't born with long legs for nothing. As much as he wanted to spill the beans on her to get her into trouble, he was also wondering why the fakeness was needed with this Weston fella. He knew how much his mother badgered her about getting a handsome merman boyfriend, but to Hermes, it was better to suck it all up instead of taking matters into your own hands. Unless there was already someone else, and this was only a cover up....
Her next attempt at being firm that this Weston was indeed her boyfriend made the boy roll his eyes, in perfect imitation of their mother. "Please, sis, you can't lie for shit." he said resignedly. His eyebrows rose when she then said that Attina had already met Weston, and it then dawned on Hermes that he had been probably out at that time, and missed this so-called fateful meeting. "Okay, so, lemme get this straight. You found a nice, handsome merman, and you made him agree to be your boyfriend so you could shut mom up." He did not need to mention that he had heard everything that she had been saying to the boy, about them lying and all. "And then mom met him, blah blah, she liked him, and lemme tell you this, she's gonna start arranging for your marriage soon. I mean shiiit, I heard her yakking on the phone two days ago to some dude about wedding dresses and all that kablooey. I thought it had something to do with Aquana, but now..."
Fixing her with a hard stare, he continued, the tone of his voice changing. "You can drop the act...I'm not going to go running to mom, as much as I wouldn't mind to. But please be honest with me. Is there someone else you're really seeing, besides this facade you are now putting up with this Weston dude?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M GONNA GIVE ALL MY SECRETS AWAY The Words: enough The Outfit: here The Notes this song and here we go! All of this was just another sign that Antala should be a good girl and just listen to her mommy and as she has been told. It just sucked so hard that their mother never watned what she wanted, but "what was best for her' and Antala did not even believe in that anymore. And yet she tried to hard to be a good girl, to listen to all the dirt that had been thrown her way because for some reason whatever she did just wasn't good enough. Whatever she did, she could never be like Aquana. Hell, she did not even want to be like Aquana, cause Aquana was a damn bitch, and Antala could never be that mean to people. She already found it difficult to be mean to Luka. Hell, how did Luka suddenly end up there again? Holy Jesus Christ, get the fuck out. She was so annoyed with herself that the guy ended up in her head all the time, because he didn't belong there. They had had one aggrevating, very annoying yet totally fun conversation in which she had repeatedly wanted to murder him, but ladies don't do such things, so why he ended up in her head was a mystery to her. He couldn't be there either. Because there was no way her mother would accept someone like him and- why was she even thinking about all that stuff? That was not good, it was not right, and most likely (if she was lucky) she'd never even see him again. See, that sounded good. Let's stick to that.
The mermaid flinched slightly when he said bullshit, mentally cursing herself for not having better liar abilities. Antala was the worst liar on this planet and she knew that if Hermes told their mom, Antala could not keep it to herself. She just wouldn't be able to. Those eyes staring at her, hard and dark and cold, ordering her to tell her the future, that alone was enough to make the brunette crack and spill everything. With the given consequences ofcourse, which would not be very pretty. Looking at her brother as he obviously had way too much fun bullying her, she bit her lip to not throw out a sneery comment, because she was basically at his mercy, as annoying as that was. Hermes always liked to fuck them over because mom treated him like shit. Well, in case he did not notice, Antala wasn't exactly being treated nicely either. Maybe existing for that woman was worse than not existing. At least he could do whatever he wanted, like Jamie, and she was stuck in a spider's web of rules and regulations, that all connected, collided but were just a tad different to not be the same and were basically about every aspect of life. Hermes did not have that.
But it was incredibly hard to not sneer or snap at him, because he was pushing her buttons a lot now that he had found out one of her precious secrets. They weren't his to know, only Weston and Antala knew about this. But Tala let out a sigh, defeated. "Weston is a good friend of mine, who was kind enough to agree and do me this favor." The mermaid said, having a rather flat and metallic tone in her voice. She did not like to have this conversation with Hermes. It was none of his business, becuase he didn't understand. He did not understand at all. "Well, I wasnt't planning on binding Weston to me forever, we were gonna break up at some point." Antala continued, rolling her eyes like Hermes did. It had just seemed like a good plan, alright? Fooling her mother until she was done with college, and then she'd surrender and marry some lame-o that her mother had picked for her. "I just want to finish college, Hermes. That's all." She continued, throwing her hands in the air with a shrug.
When he said he wasn't going to tell Attina, visible relief washed over the entire attitude and body of the Adrastos' girl. She was about to open her mouth and thank him, when he continued his question. Her body tensed up, because this was not where she had wanted to go. At all. Luka came raging into her mind, dominating her thoughts and all. She could not lie about this, Antala could not lie at all. "Well, I'm not seeing someone, hell, it's nothing even. There's just this guy I met in the park on accident one day who keeps on bothering my thoughts, but he's not important and it's not important. He'll get out of there. You know how I am." The girl continued, letting out a sigh, brushing a hand through her hair. Akakios was the only one who had discovered her fatal attraction to bad boys, the ones she'd always be hostile and mean towards to keep them away, like she had been to Luka. Only Luka... Luka didn't go away. |

Hermes was, by all means, not a fan of bullying, but he knew that he had to provoke his sister a little to get the answers that he needed. In a way, he was protecting her by finding out the things that she so desperately wanted to keep to herself. He wasn't going to hand over the information to their mother, but he did want to know who his sister was hanging out with. Times were hard, and if either their mother or Aquana caught wind of whom she was liking, Hermes would be able to back her up by covering for her, and all she needed to do was nod and keep quiet, as well as confirm his words. The shorter brunette wouldn't need to say much, but only justify that his words true. He would be doing all the lying while all she needed to do was confirm it was such. It wasn't too hard a part to play.
"He must be a pretty decent lad to agree to such an offer." the younger Adrastos remarked wryly, shaking his head. He wondered how she had managed to convince the boy to help her, just to keep her out of trouble. Out of the goodness of his heart he supposed. Hermes wondered too though, on when Attina would find out that their relationship was a complete sham. All hell would break loose on the both of them, and the brunette suddenly felt himself responsible on the secret remaining a secret. Hermes knew though, that if he had been this Weston's dude's shoes in a favour to help a friend, he would agree to such a situation as well. When Antala mentioned that she and her friend were going to demolish their relationship at some point, he snorted. "And you think mother would let that slide so easily." Eyebrows rose to disappear into his brown hair. "She would probably hunt him down and do her....you know." Did he need to say that their mother was probably going to get pissed and hurt Weston? Probably not. Attina wouldn't let this slide so easily, especially if she found Antala's friend perfect for her precious daughter.
"Don't we all," he mumbled under his breath, too low for his sister to hear. He was studying music at the local uni, and yes, as much as he enjoyed the experience, he was dying to finish up and get his degree. Then, perhaps he could start exposing himself to the world and making a name for himself, as well as be free from the chains that bound him to his family. He was expected to marry a pretty, royal mermaid and carry on the Adrastos name, but Hermes was not having any of it. The Atlantic boy was in no hurry to find love, and his joy was already coming from his beloved Corgi puppies. What more could he ask for but those three fluffballs?
So, there was someone. Hermes resisted the urge to roll his eyes again, and add a facepalm to it. He could see his sister surrendering, due to her inability to lie, spilling out everything to him. It almost reminded him of a knocked glass, and her secrets were its contents. From the way she made it sound, Tala had a crush on a boy she met earlier. Perhaps it was not a crush, let alone infatuation, but if this lad was haunting her thoughts, then there was indeed something. No one remained in the thoughts of others for nothing. Yet, Hermes had an assumption that if something did occur between Antala and this new mystery dude, Attina was not going to like it, not one bit, especially if he was not one of mermish descent.
"For your sake, I really, really hope he does." he sighed, running a hand through his hair, looking defeated even if this wasn't his problem. His sister looked so troubled, so lost, and once a upon a time, he might have comforted her. But now, seeing her being groomed into another copy of his mother had distanced himself from her, and he could do nothing but helplessly watch. At least she was making an attempt to rebel, or rather, going against the usual norm, but anything could happen. Hermes didn't want to be there when shit finally decided to explode, but he wanted to be there to pull his sister out of it, even if they had their differences.
"Forgive me for being such a bother, but who is this other mystery boy?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] I'M GONNA GIVE ALL MY SECRETS AWAY The Words: enough The Outfit: here The Notes sort of cute Antala had always been bad with secrets, always been the one to easily spill that what was on her mind. Mostly she told Jamie her secrets just so that it was out there and she could talk about it, but Hermes was definitely her second pick, even if he tended to be an annoying brat and she wasn't always sure that she could trust him, her other voice was Aquana and hell to the fucking no on that one. Aquana was the most untrustworthy person she knew, since everything she did was to bring down her other siblings and stand a better light towards their mother herself. She was like a clone, and that was what they expected Antala to be, even if she didn't want to at all. This was her first act of defiance, by bringing in Weston and God how happy and grateful she had been when he had wanted to help her. It had been awkward for her to ask him and for him the first time they had to try and afterwards they had set up clear rules about touching and all that things because after all they were still just friends and didn't feel anything romantically towards each other so it was a little awkward, but they got through it. Because they were friends.
And of course Antala was worried what would happen if Attina found out and what she'd do to Weston, but the girl could only hope that she could convince her mother that she had used her mermaid powers to get him exactly where she wanted him and that he was such a sweetheart that it wasn't hard to persuade him for her cause and that in fact she had been a good girl by applying her dark forces on someone. She didn't tell her mom because she just wanted to see whether it truly worked. Ah, who was she kidding, nobody would fall for that. "Yeah, Weston is a great friend." Antala said with a smile, brushing a hand through her chocolate-colored locks, before meeting her brother's eyes again as he went on about how their mother would react when she found out, whether she'd just let it slide if they broke it off naturally. "Well, if it is a mutual break up between me and him or if I tell her I broke up with him, she can't possibly hold anything against him for that." Antala said with a nod of her head, as if that solved anything. She didn't know how to go about and fix that just yet, but she'd get there. She wasn't right at that point yet, and once she got there it would all be fine and she'd convince her mother not to go after Weston's head. Or so she really really hoped.
The girl just had big plans alright. She wanted to continue her studies at the university, to get her PhD and then a decent job and to be independent. Though she was scared to death of being independent, that was what she wanted above all. But Antala was scared, because she had never had to be independent and her mother kept her in a golden cage, safe and protected from the world, but also miserable. And yet Antala couldn't gather up the strength to do something about it the way Jamila had, by moving out, by openly being a lesbian and dating girls and non-merpeople. And what did Tala do? She scammed her mother into believing she had a decent mermaid boyfriend to get her off her back and would be able to finish college, when in reality it would might mean that her mom would try to get her to marry Weston. Well Antala had decided that that was something she'd never do to Weston. He had been kind enough to help her with this, but she wasn't going to bind him to her forever and ever, and if her mother was going to arrange her to marry a stranger afterwards, then so be it, but she wouldn't drag her friend down with her, not after he had already done so much for her. Since she knew perfectly well that he'd probably even do it if she asked him to, but she would never eve ask him to do that. She would not let her mother do that to her and him, even if her mom wasn't aware of what she was doing since she thought Tala and Weston were in love or something.
When Hermes started about Luka, Antala was starting to feel uneasy, nervous, as if she wanted to run away rather than to talk about this. Because it was nothing, it meant nothing. The mermaid had her weakness for bad boys and she knew she did, hell even Hermes knew she did, and usually she'd act bitchy to them and then they'd go away from her and she'd easily get over it. "His name is Luka. He's an annoying brat." She said, knowing that keeping things from Hermes now was of no use, it was better to let him hear the entire story. Again her mind fluttered to their day in the park, where it had seemed he so aggravatingly pleasant to toss the ball back in her court every time she kicked it his way, and how their banter had somehow amused her even if she kept telling herself how annoyed she was by it, she hadn't wanted to leave either. Sometimes she replayed the scene in her mind and wondered what would have happened, if she hadn't left. But that was just silly alright, it was. She had seen Luka once, she wasn't going to see him again and she didn't mind it either. Or well, so she kept on telling herself. "He really isn't important Hermes. He's just some guy I met once in the park and who annoyed the living shit out of me." |
