The hybrid was in the zone. He worked hours upon hours on his laptop in his rather lavish office from day to night. Never moving unless it was the utmost need. His hand moved to grab the cup of coffee that was placed by him, bringing it to his lips he found its contents empty. With a tired groan, Elliot sat back in his chair, rubbing his tired eyes in hopes it would reawaken him in some way. The lack of sleep had caused his head to pound painfully, the coffee sedated it, but since the black elixir of life was gone, he felt as though he too would follow in the destruction of the day. Things only got worse when he got a call from the front desk of the building, frowning a bit he answered. They sounded a little bit nervous to speak to him. They should have been, he was slowly dropping in mood level and was liable to snap at anyone he spoke too.
”I’m sorry to bother you, Mr, Lan… but there is someone here that… says they want to talk to you.” Elliot frowned, most people who wanted to speak to him knew how to contact him without going through to the front desk. “Did they say their name?” He asked softly, keeping his cool event hough his nerves slowly were rising within him. ”Ashton, sir.” At the name Elliot frowned, he knew the name. It belonged to the boy who kept annoying him at the coffee shop lately. What did he want? Sighing he rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Send him up with a guard, make sure they watch him like a hawk though.” With that he hung up the phone. Elliot leaned back in his chair and chewed on a pen. So now the brat was bold enough to actually come to his work and bother him? Classy.
It began to bother him that this boy was so persistent in speaking with him, or at the very least bothering him. Elliot wanted to be left alone in peace but this boy kept barging in and bothering him. Slowly after a bit, the doors to his office were knocked on and Elliot pushed a button under his desk that automatically unlocked the door. Call him paranoid or whatever you wished, but he was ready for anything when it came to the business he was in. He didn’t look up from his laptop and he began to type away. “It’s alright, you don’t need to stay.” He told the guard who had led Ashton up there. Slowly he finished and it a sigh he leaned back in his chair once more, black eyes narrowed on the boy with suspicion. “Is there something you need?” He didn’t feel like being nice, he didn’t even want the boy there to be honest. Part of him knew that he couldn’t be rude and letting him up to his office was the right thing morally. Or was it? This boy could be anyone or anything, someone who wanted to bring him down or someone who was just plain stupid enough to get involved with his affairs. No matter what, Elliot would try his hardest to sniff it out.

• Just at the thought of you, my body shakes • It would be a complete lie to say that Ashton wasn't nervous about this. He was pretty sure that there probably wasn't anyone around who could read minds, and he was positive that Elliot Lan could not, since he didn't have the Immortal gene as one half of his hybrid species. Maybe the faerie side could sense that something is up, but Ash prided himself on being good at what he does, even at seventeen years old. Much like Elliot who was only nineteen but seemed so much older. That brought a weird feeling to Ashton, like they could relate a bit through the things they both had done at an age that they shouldn't have even been thinking about stuff like that. With a small sigh, he entered the building in which everyone knew Elliot worked. He wouldn't dare go to his home, but work place seemed like a good start while they didn't know each other very well. Actually; Ashton knew a lot about Elliot, but just through files and other things, but first hand, he hadn't been able to get out so much. The moment he entered the building, weary eyes were on him.
"What do you want?" Ash turned to see a large man, and his heart skipped a beat in nervousness, but he plastered a bright smile on his face. "Uh ... I'm here to see Elliot, I'm a ... friend, of his?" Ash was pretty sure that there was still a long way before they were friends, but he was making a start at least. The man grunted an eyed him skeptically before picking up the phone, hard eyes on Ash, and he swallowed. No wonder many people didn't come in here, the security were scary as hell. "Name?" Ash bit his lip and tilted his head, eyeing the man. "Ashton." He could also play the one syllable game. He didn't listen as the man spoke on the phone, looking out of the window he admired the positioning of this building, some really pretty views. He wished he could live in a place with a nice view, rather than one overlooking the place where they trained. Maybe then he'd be able to get a false sense of freedom. He could only ever hope to be free.
The next thing he knew, he was being motioned past, another guy who he hadn't seen coming escorting him. The man was tall, and Ashton had to strain his neck to look at him, but he shrugged and walked in silence. Looking around at the building it seemed clean, nothing out of the ordinary. But his hunter instincts were telling him to scope the place out for nearest exits, since he was not stupid enough to bring any weapons, he also wanted to see what he could use for self defence. To anyone watching him, it would have seemed like he was merely curious at an unfamiliar surrounding, yet Ash knew better. Then they were by a door, and the man knocked, and he heard locks unclick. Jeez, really? Was the guy that paranoid? It made him chuckle a little, but he masked the laughter into a smile. He waved bye to the guard once Elliot told him to go.
He entered the room and smiles brightly at the male, much as he had done at the coffee shop every morning that he saw him. "Well, hello to you too Elliot. Always a pleasure." Ash ignored the coldness of the black eyes, he would make it his mission to get that look out of him. He had a sense that Elliot was very alone, even though he employed lots of people. And even though Ash was here to find out as much information as he could, and then kill him, he felt bad for him. His doubts setting in once more, after the killing of the young boy, Ashton had not been the same. But this was his task set by Thomas. He owed the man his life, so he'd have to kill this man. Ash knew all the things he'd done, or well, enough for him to be a target. Yet ... he still felt sorry for him. "I was thinking ... you could take a break from working, and have lunch with me?" He smiled sweetly, in a friendly manner, eyes bright and excited. He wasn't expecting a yes, but even being let into his office was a start, right?

“Oh yes, a pleasure.” His voice dripped in layers upon layers of sarcasm. Although dry, he didn’t want to be witty right now. He didn’t have the proper mental strength within him. Working as much as he did, Elliot often forgot what a good nights sleep would do for the body. Or food. Elliot hadn’t slept fully or eaten in days. Coffee had been his own source of nourishment. At a time like this, people could say it was impossible to actually fear Elliot. He looked to weak, so breakable. But what he wouldn’t tell them is that this poor time existing was simply to get a greater edge in the world. Elliot couldn’t control people without having some sort of back up, so he would take over companies through debt, make himself look like a hero to thousands who would loose their jobs otherwise. And thus, more pawns to add to his game.
“Lunch?” He said, looking up at the boy in surprise. The coldness of his eyes seemed to drift away and was replaced by actually, excitement? Elliot was really hungry. What harm would come to him by eating something? Did he have anything else to do? No, he basically got done everything for the afternoon. He could have gone home if he so wished, but Elliot refused and tried to continue working even when work was done. The hybrid closed his eyes for a moment and tilted his head back, and unknowingly slipped off into a light sleep. No one could say “Poor Elliot”, he brought this on himself. He just didn’t know when the right time to stop was. He never did. Pushing his body to it’s limits would one day kill him. He always joked about that, but it would. Elliot never knew when to stop himself.
Slowly, Elliot came back to and looked at the male. How did he get in? He groaned softly and rubbed his eyes, remembering how and why. It almost gave him a headache. “Lunch… you mentioned lunch. I normally stay and eat in my office. It works better that way.” No more did Elliot have doubt in his voice. Exhaustion over took that and Elliot was unwillingly letting his guard down. He had no strength to keep it for front. He just couldn’t. He would pass out again if he did and Elliot just didn’t want to. Black eyes settled back on Ashton and he gave a small sigh. “We could order something? If you’re set on having lunch with me?” Elliot actually said yes. He didn’t question Ashton for once, his gaze was no longer cold. And so a true version of Elliot was coming forth. The version of him where he was broken and tired, barely holding onto consciousness.
“We can get pizza, or take out. I have menus.” He murmured and slowly stood, but his legs caused him to shake a bit. No strength. None at all, it would seem days on pure coffee and nothing else were finally giving him the after effects of a running high. Fuck.

• Just at the thought of you, my body shakes • Ashton wasn't thrown off by the sarcasm. Really, he did not expect Elliot to embrace him with open arms, and so far, the man had been living up to Ash's expectations. He seemed very closed off and alone, obviously very deep into whatever work he was doing. Ash didn't yet know what that work was, but he would need to find out details eventually. It made him nervous to think of 'the plan', because at any moment he could be found out with no information, and that would be completely pointless. With a small but beaming smile, Ashton eyed the male. "Hey, don't be like that ... you know I brighten up your day." Ashton teased. Generally, he was a very happy boy. This wasn't him pretending to be extremely happy, he just was so light and easy going, almost like a ray of sunshine on a dark day. It came just so naturally to him, and he hoped that Elliot wouldn't be a grump, because it was kind of hard to stay upbeat when the other person seemed to put a downer on things. But it's not like Ashton had a choice, so he would go with whatever the male gave him to work with.
Ashton was actually very surprised when the word 'lunch' was said in an ... excited manner. Or well, there was a trace of it in his voice, and Ash only nodded his head, kind of looking like an excited puppy. However, before he could say anything, Elliot had closed his eyes, and well ... he wasn't opening them. That instantly made the smile off Ashton's face disappear, and he licked his lips as he tentatively walked towards the male. It seemed like his breathing had evened out and ... was he sleeping? Ashton looked around, feeling awkward now that he felt alone in Elliot's office. It was like a habit thing, feeling watched. Elliot probably had a camera somewhere, and Ash needed to find out where so that one time he could disable it and maybe take a peek at Elliot's things. All this thought process made him not look at the things on his desk, because it would be so so foolish to get caught now, and he had all the time he needed. With a soft sigh, he sank into a chair, his blue eyes on the sleeping male.
It was strange, because Ash literally doesn't know what bad Elliot is doing. He was just told by Thomas that Elliot is a bad man, and Cooper had seemed to agree. And even in his file ... he wasn't hurting humans. Or well, not as far as Ash could see, he guessed that he would find out. But it seemed like Elliot's work was very important to Thomas. Of course, Ash read some things about the organisation called 'Cantarella', it was a business as far as he could see, giving and getting back in return, but it was through rather dirty means. He guessed that the information he needed would be in the roots of the group. The young boy sighed softly, a pang in his chest that this was simply too much. Now, he would act with Elliot like he genuinely would with any other person. The man was very alone, Ash could see that. It seemed like he had no friends, and it would be hard but ... without even knowing, Ashton wanted to be his friend, especially when he was looking as vulnerable sleeping as he was then.
About half an hour later, the male was stirring, and Ash was flipping through a book he had found on the side. It didn't look like anything important, so he didn't see that Elliot should suspect anything. Sensing waking in the male, Ashton's blue eyes travelled to his tired face, and a small frown crossed his features as if he was ... worried. He convinced himself that he wasn't. When Elliot spoke, Ash nodded along, a smile on his lips as he put the book down. He listened to the suggestion to order something, and that seemed like a good plan, if only because Elliot didn't seem like he could walk five metres before falling to the ground. "Sure, ordering sounds good, since I would like to have lunch with you... I mean ... if you don't fall asleep on me again." Ash's own gaze was soft as he eyed the tired man in front of him, clearly working himself into the ground. Eyes which were steely when they first met were now devoid of that emotion, and simply seemed sad. How was Ashton supposed to kill a man who looked like this?
When Elliot suggested Pizza, Ashton grinned. He loved food, and he loved pizza, so it was all good. However, when the male went to stand up, Ashton was also on his feet in a flash and giving him a dirty look. "Sit your ass down, before you fall over and split your head open on the corner of your desk." Ashton didn't feel the need to be careful in the way he spoke to Elliot, he was sure that if it came down to it, right now, Ash could beat him in a fight. Running a hand through his hair, Ash walked over to where the menus were pointed out, and eyes the numbers, pulling out his cell phone. "Any preferences on toppings? I suppose we can get two if you wanna get something icky, like pineapple." Ashton laughed lightly. "You look like a pineapple guy to me." He winked jokingly before going back to the menus and actually dialling the number. After the order was placed, he pulled his chair in front of the males desk and leaned his elbows on the surface. "I would ask if you wanted me to leave so you could sleep, but I suppose that you'd just go back to work." Ash mused, eyeing him in speculation as he ran a hand through his own wild hair. He really needed a haircut. "Though you look like death and about ready to pass out, like dude, ever heard of food and rest?" Ash gave him a pointed look, as if scolding him for doing bad things. This is what friends did, looked out for one another, and Ashton would convince Elliot that he was a friend.

A tired scowl passed through the hybrids lips while he sat back on his office chair rubbing his eyes and face. “I haven’t had a good nights sleep in days.” He had no reason to tell the boy this. It made him look weak and childish to admit he was tired. Elliot was so very careful to not let any of his walls down and he did by falling asleep on this boy. He took in a deep breath to compose himself. Worrying and getting nervous wouldn’t do him any good. Nothing bad happened he was sure; his cameras would have picked up on it. There was no need to be so worried, this was his sanctuary. Elliot felt as though he could lower his guard a tiny amount, but was he really? The fact that he had faith in his cameras to a normal person would make him seem more paranoid.
“I’d prefer spinach and black olives, fruit on a pizza is disgusting.” The older male gave a small grunt as he moved from his chair to stand up. His bones cracked and ached from sitting for hours on end, he could feel the numbness running all over his body. His eyes drifted to the book the boy had been reading which lay casually across the sofa in his office. Elliot picked it up thoughtfully and smiled weakly. “You got this out of my book self?” Well that was obvious that the boy did. Elliot for once had no scowl on his face, or a frown. No sign to show him he was angry. Instead he was actually smiling. “What did you think? You can… barrow it if you liked it enough.”
Elliot was a sucker for a good story. How could someone not enjoy a good book? In a story you could become anyone you wished. From a thief, to a hero, even to someone like a homeless man. Worlds were invented just for you and Elliot like so many others thought it was the best escape from a life they disliked living. Elliot felt the heat rise to his cheeks and he looked at the boy, their eyes meeting for just a moment. He had gone off mentally which was something he never did. “So pizza… if you like something else, get half and half.” He murmured and walked back to sit in his desk chair. He couldn’t show any sense of serenity in front of the boy. He didn’t feel comfortable enough and he also didn’t know anything about him.
This wasn’t paranoia for Elliot now, it was more worry. The only person who truly knew him was his baby sister and even she had some negative things to say about him from time to time. He often wondered why she stuck with him as long as she did. He was horrible to her, never letting her out of someone’s sight, just in case she got in trouble. He didn’t give her many freedoms and more so treated her like a prisoner than a sister. But he did this because he was scared she’d leave him otherwise. His sister was enough, although he could never get into Luna’s head on his best days, he thought his love only needed to go to her. Blood was blood after all, what more did someone need besides their own kin?

• Just at the thought of you, my body shakes • “I haven’t had a good nights sleep in days.”
Ashton looked at the male long and hard, and the truth to that statement was infinite. It was so obvious in the bloodshot eyes, that he had not slept in so long. He looked tired, and sullen, not radiant like people who've had rest were supposed to look. But Ash would bet anything that Elliot wouldn't have eaten anything in a while either. "Yeah, I can see that." The boy laughed, and cocked his head to the side, a teasing smile on his face. "Alright, we'll eat and then I'll get out of your hair so you can sleep." Ashton nodded, fake concern that sounded real to his own ears filling the space around him. The thing was, Ashton was a generally caring person, therefore it was not hard to show it to someone who looked like death, even though he might not have meant it. It didn't matter, the tiredness was making Elliot less cold than he had been before, when they hard first met, and Ashton saw that as progress. Slow going, but progress none the less.
Ashton scrunched his nose up. "Spinach? Only old people like that." Ashton told, him, his eyes following the males movements as he stood up, eyes falling to the book which he had been reading. Ashton didn't know what he was expecting, but the no malice look on the males face kind of shocked him. Ash nodded to his question. "Yeah, I hope you don't mind, I like to read and you fell asleep on me." Ash chuckled and moved to take the book from the males fingers, carefully opening it to where he had left off reading. "It was good, I only got a few chapters in." Ash smiled and thought. "Yes, I'd like to borrow it." He said, however in his mind he was thinking that this would be another excuse to pay the male a visit and not seem like he was trying too hard. Ash wanted to push, but he also knew that he couldn't push too hard.
Ashton watched the change in the male. Like he realised that he was being too pleasant, which was actually comical. He nodded, sitting in front of the males desk and picked up the phone that was there, since he didn't bring his own, and rung the number. When the person on the other side picked up, Ash bit his lower lip and inspected his hands. "Half spinach and olives-" He started, scrunching his face up as he gave Elliot a distasteful look, "And half pepperoni, extra cheese." He grinned, because Ashton loved his food greasy and full of calories. Not like he didn't burn it off. When they asked if he had a special request, he took a moment to think. "Write your dirtiest joke on the box." He snickered before putting the phone down, and grinned at the other male. "There, now we wait. They said they'll be here within twenty minutes to half an hour." He nodded, leaning back in the chair.
For a moment, Ash revelled in the silence. It was nice sitting there, facing the glass wall of the office, his eyes bright and full of life as he drummed his fingers on the side of the chair. "So, Elliot ..." Ashton started, dragging his eyes away from the view and onto the other male in the room, a soft and friendly smile playing around his lips. "What do you do when you're not working or passed out from working too much?" He snickered a little, kind of afraid of how easy it was to talk to him, to play this part that he had created for himself with such ease. Too easy. He didn't want to become the part, he didn't want to actually become sympathetic to the guy who he was supposed to kill, because he knew Elliot must have hurt people. He seemed like the type of person, and Thomas had told him as much. But in time, in time Ashton would get what he needs and he'd finally be free. He'd prove himself to Thomas, and this would be just a chapter in his life to forget.

Elliot’s lips pursed into a pout. Did he really look so bad? The hybrid shook his head and ran his hands over his face once more. So what if he looked bad? He wasn’t trying to gain anyone’s approval by his looks. “Thanks for your sudden concern in my health, but even after you leave I’ll still be working until tonight.” On what? The boy didn’t need to know. Elliot had a appoints to keep for later in the day and it would be better if the boy left, Elliot didn’t want to have to blind someone just for seeing his appointments. The male sighed softly. He could be morbid at the best of times, there was no need for such thinking. However, why did he continue to have this set paranoia? He had every reason to be paranoid with someone he didn’t know, but there was nothing this boy could do it him right now. The environment they were in wouldn’t allow for any foul play to go on. Elliot was safe, secure. He could loosen up a little bit.
“Spinach is good for the body, it makes you smarter.” He snickered a bit, tempted to say the boy should try it but that would be rude and Elliot didn’t want to go that far. “I don’t mind, that’s why they’re there.” He murmured and eyed the boy slowly. Taking him in like he’d done so many times before. It was strange that he was just now noticing how attractive the boy was. Elliot wasn’t the kind of person who looked at gender when it came to lovers. You wanted someone for their being, not just their body. Well that all depended on who you were talking about. Some people solely wanted the body and sometimes Elliot was no exception to this rule. He shifted in his seat for a moment before asking, “Don’t you have a girlfriend you could go and bother?” He snickered again, keeping a teasing smile on his face.
The male sat while the boy ordered their food and he rolled his eyes at the dirty joke. How childish could someone be? Oh well, it was all in good fun supposedly. ” “You’re a child.” He murmured and began to type again on his laptop once more. His eyes almost dedicated to the screen like it was so much better than a human’s presence. The next prying question from the boy’s lips made Elliot sigh. The answer was simple but also slightly embarrassing. He was dedicated to his work like it was his wife, and he was sure it was easy to see. “Depends. I’m either working or sleeping with someone to keep myself from lacking total social interaction or hanging out with my baby sister.” He shrugged and looked up at the boy. Waiting for a response.

• Just at the thought of you, my body shakes • Ashton's eyebrow was raised at Elliot's words, because he didn't seem like a stupid kind of guy, yet he was definitely acting it. He looked like a walking corpse, pretty much, and yet he was still saying that sleep is a no no. Ash snorted at the ridiculousness of that, but who was he to make Elliot do anything? He was here for his own reasons, and therefore if he wanted to ruin his body through lack of sleep and food, so be it. "For someone who sounds like he's a smart guy, you're being especially stupid." Ashton said nonchalantly, not caring that he was being insulting because it was clearly deserved.
"I think if I was smarter I'd be Einstein." Ash shot back at the comment that he knew wasn't said but was implied by the spinach comment. The younger boy stuck his tongue out playfully, actually extremely surprised at how easy it was to be himself while pretending to be someone he's not. He didn't know if it was a feeling he liked, but it was better than feeling uncomfortable in his own skin. Because then he knew that Elliot would realise something fishy was going on, so he needed to act completely natural. Ash nodded at the comment about the book, rather glad that he didn't upset him by taking something off his shelves without asking, because Ashton didn't want to ruin this now. He was sure that he could, potentially, lie his way out of any suspicions, but he hoped he wouldn't need to.
At the next comment, Ash looked more amused than he had a few minutes ago and that was saying something. He laughed at the words, blue eyes on Elliot's dark, tired looking ones. "Girlfriend? No ... are you offering?" Ashton winked, it was more of a tease than a flirtation, because God knows the last thing he wanted to do was flirt with Elliot, but the opportunity to say that was simply too good to pass up. Ash snickered a little before leaning back in the chair he was on. There was no faulting the fact that Ashton was a bright and happy kid, and more of the time he was. His young age also adding to the fact that he would have life easy, just sometimes he didn't think it was. Sometimes it was the hardest things, because he hated it. He hated having so little choice in what he needs to do, hell if it were up to him, he would not be sitting in that office in that moment, yet you wouldn't really notice that just looking at Ashton, and that might have been the saddest thing about the young male.
The 'your a child comment' made Ash puff out his cheeks like a puffer fish before letting out all the air loudly, showing Elliot just how much he could behave like a child. He was a dork, really. "Come on, you have to admit that my presence is contagious." Ash said with teasing arrogance, a white toothed grin lighting up his young features. However, when he listened to the next part, it made him snort, because seriously? That guy seemed like the loneliest guy in the world. "That ... really sucks. Sorry about your life." Ash said, actually kind of meaning it, but he knew he wouldn't if he knew just what Elliot did when he worked. "Baby sister? You need to make some friends." Ash chuckled. "You're gonna go insane if you just live through your work." These were the wise words of the seventeen year old.

If there was one thing you should never do in front of Elliot, it was to insult his intelligence. The air around the hybrid suddenly shifted and he glared at the boy with a fire that only hell could bring out. Slowly he stood and walked over to the male, grabbing his chin roughly to yank him forward. His lip curled in a slight scowl. “Don’t insult my intelligence so carelessly. Next time you slip up I’ll happily slap that cocky little smirk right off your fucking face, do I make myself clear?” He growled and pushed him away with ease. Fixing his tie the male moved to sit back down at his desk. Anger fueling his hands to continue his work. You didn’t insult Elliot, not directly and so carelessly. This boy was nothing to him, so what right did he have to say such things?
He took in a breath and tired to slow down his heart rate, finding reasons to kick the boy out was becoming difficult but also rather easy. He didn’t want to seem like a prick, but felt like it was unavoidable at this point. He refused to say anything about the Einstein comment. His anger was rising slowly and he didn’t want to lash out at the boy. He wasn’t that kind of person to lash out on pure anger and he didn’t want to become as such. He just continued typing in silence. Doing what he knew how to do. Keeping his fingers clicking, he suddenly found himself a little bit dizzy. His eyes began to sore by looking at the screen for so long. Perhaps he did need a break. However Elliot slammed his laptop cover down and gave a tired sigh. “I’m not offering.” He grumbled a little bit, sounding less than impressed by the whole situation he was in now.
How did this even happen? He never let anyone in here, only his sister and a few workers. How was it he was letting this boy stay for so long? Elliot began to question himself again and he felt a little sick to his stomach. Was he going soft? No. There was nothing wrong with what he was doing. He just had to keep telling himself that. “I don’t want your pity for my life. I wanted it to be like this.” He growled a little bit and shifted. The boy just didn’t understand what his job meant to him. How long it took to build this empire he had. All the effort he put into it. So why did it bother him so much? “My sister is all I need thank you very much.” His words grew a bit harsher, but to him they were true. Luna was all he needed and wanted. What more could he ask for?

• Just at the thought of you, my body shakes • Ash hadn't expected for Elliot to be this way. It was all fun and jokes until he was hurting him and the younger males eyes looked almost betrayed as bruising fingers hooked into his flesh just at a passing comment. He glared, his heart rate speeding up knowing that Elliot could hurt him and he was ready for it. Expecting it almost, before he was let go with angry words, and he moved to rub his jaw. He looked almost like a wounded puppy, taking in a few deep breaths, he tilted his chin up in a proud motion, red marks appearing on his pale skin. "I hope you're proud of what you've just done." Ashton murmurs quietly, before looking down at his hands, and swallowing thickly, his innocence seeping through and he didn't want to do this. Not any more. He wanted to go home and never see this man again, but the thought of Thomas' disappointment kept him rooted to the spot.
Ashton kept his eyes on the young man who seemed to be doing too much for his age. It seemed ridiculous, that someone should work so much. All work and no fun. He knew he couldn't handle it, and clearly his teasing was rubbing him up the wrong way. Ash merely shrugged at the 'not offering' comment, hurt at his earlier behaviour and it showed. The young hunter was a forgiving person, and even though Ashton didn't like killing anyone, Elliot was showing him why the hunters did what they did. He was a terrible, horrible man. But maybe he just needed more people in his life. Ashton would make sure he became that, but he could tell that he had so few redeeming qualities that it would be easy to kill him in the end. Then again, he could kind of understand. A random boy comes out of nowhere and annoys him. But Ash figured if Elliot really didn't want him there, he would have kicked him out by then.
Ash released a long sigh, and nodded. "Alright." He agreed, not wanting to annoy him further, but this was also hindering who Ash was. He was someone who would think of something and just say it. He was fun, and quirky and geeky, yet it seemed like Elliot would suppress that and he didn't want that. He found himself thinking once more that he hated Thomas for giving him this task. He didn't want it, yet he didn't want to be a failure either. For himself and for his mother, who would be so upset if he failed. He ran a hand through his hair, and took a moment to look around. "Do you know what? I should probably go..." Ash decided that he could come back later, he didn't want to do this then. He picked up the book he was offered, and took some money out of his pocket. "For the pizza." He smiled and put it on the table. He made his way to the door, and tried to open it but he forgot that the male locks it, so he simply waited for it to be unlocked, biting on his lower lip lightly, he made sure his back was to the room.

” I highly doubt an adult takes pride in hurting a child. But you’ve been warned.” He glared right back. His black eyes seemingly growing blacker with each moment of eye contact. He lost all patience at this point; to think he even had them to start this battle was a miracle in his mind. Elliot had to keep telling himself that this boy was just that. A boy. True they were very close in age, but Elliot (to his knowledge) had seen more and done more. Been exposed to things that defined the maturity level. To get mad at him would be exactly like getting mad at a tiny puppy who pissed on your carpet because it had to pee. Thankfully Elliot was a cat person. He took in a breath to relax and stared him down a bit longer before he said he should leave. The words that began to leave Elliot’s lips came out because he could even think. “No, stay.” What? What the fuck did he just say?
Elliot froze, his entire body just shut down for a second so he could take in his own mild stupidity. Why did he just ask him to stay? Did his brain short out while he was typing or something? His black eyes looked at Ashton and he bit his lip hard, so hard he swore he could taste the iron flavoring that lived in his veins. Slowly he stood and gritted his teeth a bit, knowing that he would have to suck up his pride and do something right for a change. Slowly he walked over and brushed his fingers over the younger boy’s chin. “I’m sorry, and no keep your money.” He huffed in protest before stuffing it in the male’s coat pocket. Now that Elliot was acting like a mildly decent person, he took a step back. Maybe for both their sakes at the moment it would have been best for the boy to leave. That way Elliot knew he wouldn’t lash out again for a small joke. The hybrid really needed to grow a sense of humor and fast.
“At the moment, maybe that is best.” He agreed while walking back to his desk to unlock the door. Something inside panged in his chest. It was strange. He wasn’t use to having someone around who wanted to be there, purely for the reason of just being with him. His sister was his sister, so she didn’t count in his mind. Luna wouldn’t leave him alone just as he wouldn’t leave her alone. Family didn’t count. Ashton wasn’t family, so did this actually mean he’d miss the little shit? Elliot shook his head and sat back down, trying to figure whatever it is that was going through his fucked up mind out. “Be safe heading home.” He murmured, knowing the boy would hear him. He kept his voice silent because he wasn’t sure if it was the right thing to say at this time. Elliot felt like he had to say something at the very least.

• Just at the thought of you, my body shakes • Ashton didn't appreciate being called a child. He'd never really had a proper childhood, he'd had to grow up way too fast and it actually hurt that someone saw him as that. Although, he would have liked to be a teenager, Elliot's words were meant to sting and they did a job. "You're not better than me, Elliot. Maybe you ego just can't handle that." He murmurs quietly, blue eyes darkened in distaste as he took a step away from the man. Ashton had only tried to be his friend, and yet he was doing all this to push him away. As much as the hunter wanted to back out now, he knew he couldn't. Ashton was just about ready to go when the two words stopped him in his tracks. His eyes widened as he looked at the man before him, trying to decipher for what sick reason he'd want him to stay. To hurt him more? To put him down more? Ashton narrows his eyes. "Why?" He asks, the other questions clear from his expression, that he wasn't going to take his bullying, and that in friendship, all parties were equal. Elliot might think himself better, but Ashton could still teach him a few things about living.
Ashton stood his ground as Elliot walked over to him, his eyes hard but he was curious too. Though what Elliot did was about the least expected thing that Ashton had ever thought would happen, and his whole body stiffened at the contact. The fingers were electric, and right now, not in a pleasant way at which Ash fought not to flinch back from. The next unexpected thing was that Elliot was apologizing, and really, Ash had to think hard about the fact whether this was the same man who was touching him hard enough to bruise. "I - um ... what?" He asks in confusion, looking down at his pockets as the money was stuffed in there and shakes his head, because this was becoming more surreal by the second and Ash didn't really know what to think about it.
Ash followed when Elliot went to his desk to unlock the door. He picked up the book which he had been flipping through and offered a small smile. "Still borrowing this." He murmurs before slipping the pizza money on the table before Elliot could say anything. He was half way through the door when he heard the male's voice again, turning back, a hand on the handle Ashton tilts his head and licks his lips. "I will be. Not sure why you care. We're not friends after all." He reminds him, because Elliot doesn't like him so Ashton is beyond comprehension. His heart is beating wildly in his chest as he moves to head out of the office room, fingers holding the book tightly as he makes his way all the way downstairs and is let out. The fresh air is cool, and it does wonders for his mind and relaxing his erratically beating heart.
