That doesn’t really mean too much, once you think about it. All the towns in Rhode Island are small. It didn’t matter much, though. She’s got an older brother, and parents that divorced when she was in middle school. Mom got custody without much of a fight, and life for Alice and Holden went on. They didn’t think too much as their father moved to Maine to start a new life. They simply went on with it. Then again, by that time, Alice was already in love with something far more out of hand than she should have been able to handle. Theatre is something that takes you over and consumes your life. It consumed the life that once belonged to the young woman. She started in middle school, in the sixth grade. The high school in town was staging Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat which traditionally has a children’s chorus. Alice was one of the first to volunteer—never a shy child, it wasn’t a problem in her mind. By the time the show rolled around, it was clear that the child loved the stage more than anything else she’d ever seen. A seed was planted. Shows began to pile up in her repertoire. The high school director began to cast the young lady whenever she asked, which was as often as they came around. Between the fall play and the spring musical, and including a guest appearance in a student directed production, she had been in six shows before stepping foot in a high school production. Singing became another focus of hers, and it was a bit of a sore spot. Alice doesn’t generally fit the bill of the female range—she’s actually a tenor. It’s something that always trips up her self-confidence, though she can sing and sing well. Starring roles didn’t always come to her like she may have liked. Still, by graduating high school she’d been in Guys and Dolls, Legally Blonde, Anything Goes, and My Fair Lady. Hands down, however, her favorite role had been as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. There’s something about his character that she carries with her, even now. The young woman isn’t that different than the character of her favorite role—clever and mischievous, the personification of the trickster. It was with her graduation that she also was able to realize her dream. Alice was to attend the Actors Studio at Pace University. Her mother had no problem with acting at the high school level, but Alice found herself ostracized by the woman over attending school for it. It was something that she never regretted, but her mother refused to pay for any of it. The woman all but disowned her daughter for her decisions, and has cut her from her life nearly entirely. Alice doesn’t regret any of her education, and considers it the best years of her life. Still, there are some things that could have gone better. Alice wasn’t offered anything after graduation, and to this day has only received small, local theatre and one time contracts. All she wants to do is act on stage, and that’s hurt her marketability as well. She’s stubborn. Alice doesn’t want anything that doesn’t fit her ideal, and that’s also setting her back. Right now she’s living with her father, step mother and younger half siblings—a boy and a girl that are in elementary and middle school respectively. This is a young woman that thrives on the fact that this part of her family adores her. She loves the fact that they care, that they’re always around. Alice is involved with local theatre here, and she’s bringing the children in as well. Still, she has a lot of time to herself as of late. She’s got friends, and that’s what she relies on for entertainment. As of lately, it’s been one Westley Taylor. Like most actors, Alice is loud. She’s got a larger than life personality that fills up the stage when she’s on it, and it makes her complete. This is a young woman that loves to be in front of people and lights up a room when she’s in it. Not only that, she rarely lets anything get too serious. She likes to make people laugh, and she likes to entertain. They’re all solid qualities to have in an performer. There’s nothing that can hold her back from what she likes or what she loves, and it shows through in everything she does. Sometimes it can get to the point of a foolish valor. Protectiveness is also something that’s become a part of Alice. She loves her family, and anyone she considers family. If anyone was to mess with her brother or her half siblings, they’d be messing with the actress herself. She’s more than willing to stand before them and defend as best she can. She’s gentle when it comes down to it. Alice also has a big heart. She tries to fit anyone that’s not nasty to her into it, if she can at all. She’s protective of her dreams as well, and if anyone tries to come close to telling her it isn’t a possibility then she’s going to rip them apart. Welcome to Alice’s world. |
