Parker’s past two weeks had been really weird, at least by her standards. To any other person, they probably would’ve been average days, most likely. School, work, all that jazz. And Parker’s days really hadn’t been more extraordinary than that. She went to school, she went to work at Page Turners, and then she went home to repeat the process all over again. It was what happened during that time that was strange for the girl. See, she was a military brat. She moved a lot. Honestly, Parker could really remember a time she had stayed in one place for more than a handful of years. It made it really difficult to get attached to people so Parker tried to avoid it.
She had done pretty well since middle school, keeping people at arm’s length and bitching out anyone who tried to get closer. Lonely? Yeah. But better than having to deal with the heartbreaking goodbyes when it came time to move again. Parker thought once she had a more stable life, she’d definitely work on the friends thing but not until then. Except it seemed her fate had other plans for her since it had suddenly thrust one Blake Lewis into. Honestly, Parker probably would’ve never run into him on a day to day basis. They ran in different circles, to say the least, and while Parker had seen him in the halls and things, whenever she asked her acquaintances at school about who he was, they brushed him off. Eventually, she had stopped asking.
But then two weeks ago, Parker had been given detention for punching a guy in the face (for a completely justified reason, considering the guy had tried to kiss her when she told him no). Regardless, it was the first detention Parker had had in her life, seeing as how she tried to stay out of trouble for the most part. Which was why her meeting Blake was purely an accident. First day in detention, he had ended up talking to her and Parker had talked back with hopes of passing the time quicker. She was glad she did though, because he had turned out to be a lot more funny and sarcastic than she had thought he would be. Basically, he was an all around adorable individual, with his sense of humor and the smile that could put anyone in a good mood. They’d really had a lot of time to talk and get to know each other. As much as Parker had been dreading detention, in the end she was happy it had happened.
The problem was that today had been their last day of detention together. Parker was done. While she was glad she didn’t have that obligation anymore, she was sad that her time with Blake had ended because now what? She had swore she wouldn’t make friends at Gracedown High, considering it was her first year there and she was a senior. There was no way she’d ever stay in touch with anyone once they all went their separate ways and she couldn’t handle making good friends to only lose them again. But she didn’t want to stop talking to Blake and that was what scared her. At least she had until tomorrow to make that decision. For now, Parker wanted to distract herself and she knew the exact place to go. Instead of going straight home after detention, she decided to go to Le Petite Boulangerie for a sweet snack. She had a book she had bought at work and she figured the bakery might be a nice place to eat and read.

[style=width: 400px; height: 3px; background-color: green; margin-bottom: 5px] [/style] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------lets make the most [/style][style=font-family: 'Verdana';background-color: #d3ccc6; width: 400px; font-size: 9px; color: #515453; text-align: left;] Most of the time, Weston wouldn’t be seen anywhere near this place. Filled with sweets and sugar? He was a fitness trainer. A physical therapist. Everything that was bad for him was kept at arm’s length. That was the extension of keeping at arm’s length. He was very social and had no problem letting people into his life. Well, what they thought of his life. His real life consisted of watching chick flicks and playing with his puppies, but no one really knew that about him. He tended to keep it that way. In fact, the more people that knew the side of him that he wanted, the better it was for him. Still, there was no denying at least the military part of him. He was always dedicated and disciplined from what he had learned from a couple of years of training. Keeping away from these places had been one of them. He caved only because he felt he was allowed to at least treat himself every once in a while.
This walk was one by himself. He didn’t know why he hadn’t brought Maggie or Toby (both of his pups) along with him. Perhaps they were better to sit at home for now. Weston could just walk wherever he wanted without worry of no pets allowed. Which he always thought was silly. If dogs that behaved themselves couldn’t stay, what was the point? He knew there was plenty of people that he had seen that might as well been misbehaved dogs. Once to a breakfast place, a teenager put the syrup all over the table and put things on top of it to make it incredibly sticky and messy. All of his friends giggled and thought it was funny. While Weston was a bit of a faker in front of his ‘friends’ to remain alpha of the pack, he wasn’t going to do something as incredibly childish as that. Most of his fake acts consisted of adult things. Like booze and women. The booze was less of a faking thing though he always watched himself. No one wanted a fitness trainer that had a gut to him because of too much alcohol.
The man walked into the place, his blonde hair getting rather long, which he hated. Perhaps compared to others, it wasn’t long at all. With his though, he hated it any length of what would be considered moderately long. Mostly because it curled, and Weston hated his curly hair. It made him feel like he was two. It hadn’t reached that point, but he knew that eventually it was going to start to twirl on it’s ends. His huge muscles showed themselves particularly today as he wore a sleeveless shirt. After going on a run in the middle of the summer, this was really the only acceptable attire, as anything else would be far too hot for his liking. He was one of those guys who would run without a shirt on after a while, and of course, he had to have a shirt enough light and small enough to carry in his giant pockets or tuck them in one at least. So here he was, in a place like this, looking like a man who did nothing but work out. While that was almost true, it wasn’t the image he wanted. He wanted the fun guy. Guys who did nothing but work out were too serious.
As he went up and got something small, he looked and saw someone he hadn’t seen a while. A prickle of guilt came at him. Originally, he was supposed to be the man who looked after her. Her father had been in the military as well, moving around as much as Weston had the years he served, and had been asked to see if she was doing well. Oh, he hadn’t talked to her in a long while. Maybe this was life saying that he needed to re-focus a little bit. Little less Jenna (the woman who had been occupying his thoughts lately) and a little more dealing with promises that he made. His eyes gazed down for a moment, taking a deep breathe, and walking over. This wasn’t hard for Weston. Weston was a social animal and nothing made him happier than being social and being helpful. Both he loved above all else. With a sideways smile, he sat down across from her without an invintation, ”Parker! I’ve been meaning to talk to you. How have you been?” All this little beating around the bush like he was shy wasn’t his style. He was more direct. Get the point and have fun later. Though, nothing on his face showed a sign of serious. The usual joking man who brightened people’s days even when they didn’t ask for it.

Honestly, the girl would’ve been completely content to just sit at the bakery and read her book by herself. While she wasn’t always the biggest fan of being alone (especially in certain situations), she also didn’t always want company. If she had the choice, Parker was more inclined to choose no company. She hated the forced small talk that always seemed to accompany it. It was just painful and useless to everyone involved. A waste of time because you felt inclined to do exactly what society dictated when socializing. Yeah, if Parker could avoid it, you’d better bet your ass that she would. Besides, the book she had bought was interesting pretty far, even though she was only a couple of chapters in.
Once Parker was in a mood like that – the one where she didn’t want to be interrupted – it was very rare that someone could bother Parker and that she’d be happy about the disturbance. In fact, it was really only a couple of people that could bother her and not annoy her. Lucky for the guy who had just taken a seat across from her, he was one of the few people. Not only that, but he was one of the few people that Parker could act like herself around. He was a near constant in her life, seeing as how he had known her dad for a long while and he always seemed to appear in the O’Connells’ lives. Though, it had been forever since Parker had actually seen him. She couldn’t even remember when exactly the last time was.
“Wes!” Parker greeted with genuine excitement, closing and placing her book on the table without bothering to see what page she was on. She actually liked getting the chance to talk to Weston. He was basically the big brother she never had. Well, she did have an older brother, but they weren’t really the best of friends or anything. They really didn’t talk much outside of the polite “how are you” and “how is school going” conversations. She really had no clue what was going on in his life and the reverse was true as well. Parker would never be comfortable talking with her brother about real life issues but she didn’t have that same barrier around Weston.
Parker jokingly rolled her eyes at Weston’s statement. Clearly, she wasn’t actually upset with him because she hadn’t seen the mermaid in awhile. People got busy and lives got in the way and it wasn’t like they were each other’s top priorities. Didn’t mean that she wasn’t going to give him a hard time though. “I’ve been pretty good,” she said, reaching to stir the tea in front of her. “Apparently I’m a delinquent now, if you haven’t heard.” Parker smiled lightly at the comment and then took a sip of her tea, letting that statement sink in. Of course the statement sounded much more severe than it was, but again, it was all about giving Wes a hard time.
That also included grilling Weston, because that was always fun. Besides, this didn’t seem like a place she’d really find Wes, seeing as how he seemed to be a health freak. She was a little curious if there was anything going on in his life that would make him come here or if he had just wandered in on his own accord. Honestly, you could never really tell what why Wes did what he did, but Parker thought that was one of her favorite things about him. “What about you? Clearly you’ve been quite busy avoiding me.”
