Playin’ her music at the club had become one of Kaia’s standard gigs. They loved when she mixed it up for them. Had even started advertising for her and shit. It was pretty damn cool. She’d always been good at this, something about pulling the beats together and making a harmonic blend just spoke to her soul. The fact that other people liked it? That she could make money doing it? Purely a bonus. A very large bonus… with lots’a zeroes at the end of it. She grinned, setting up her equipment with practiced ease. She’d been here so many times now, it was old hat. The bartenders coming on shift waved at her as she slipped the headphones over her ears, performing some sound checks. She spun a track, twisted and warped it, feeling the bass thumping in her heart and her ass. Perfect. Tonight was going to rock, as she was going to test some of her new remixes on the crowd. She’d test the waters, see how they reacted. And that would tell her whether or not she’d be playing it again. Hours passed. Music blared and people danced like they had no tomorrow coming to them, and that, seeing that, always made Kaia feel amazing. Only music could do that to a person. She dropped a beat, swerving it into the track that had come before it, rippling the two together with a flick of her wrist and a twitch of a knob. The bartender sent her over a bottle of water, and she grinned, giving him a little head nod. Man had had the biggest fucking crush on her for months. Poor guy, he just wasn’t her type. Too… something. If people had known her tastes, their eyes might’ve widened in shock, but she didn’t care. She knew what worked for her, and wouldn’t start apologizing for it now. Still, the benefits that came with a little harmless flirting were nice… she cracked the bottle open, quickly pouring some into her mouth, gulping it down. She really was thirsty. She had to dance and work just as hard as any of the crowd, and she was damn good at it. The air was popping in and out of her lungs in quick little pants as she flipped the song again, and noted a brunette chick makin’ her way through the bustle up to her station. Pretty thing made a request, and Kaia grinned. ’Absolutely babe! I love that damn song!’ She had to shout over the incredible volume of the music and people. Her hands made a few quick clicks, and the request was pumping through the speakers, Kaia’s twist on it amplifying it to new, danceable heights. Her heeled steps wandered down from her booth, following the girl. ’Dance with me!’ The brown-haired lady was amenable, and Kaia spun her around, and they danced together. The immortal didn’t roll in the girl-lovin’ direction, but there was nothing wrong with some dancing… Especially not when it made every made in the vicinity drool with envy. Yep.

Tonight was a club night , it had been awhile since Mira was able to find a good time for some fun. True she had fun with Damon but that time had passed and it was time for her to go out and enjoy herself again. With all of her siblings now gone , it seemed like she had free run of the place and her time. So slipping on her clothes Mira would head out to her car to enjoy the night on the town. A giggle escaping her lips with promises of what was to come. It had been a good few nights so far , but time was getting boring so she wanted something fun and exciting to do. This seemed like the perfect night to do so in that regard as well, dancing around slowly before slipping into her car. Fingers tapping on the steering wheel to the music thumping though her own car. Eyes flicking around as she drove down towards the city , trying to find the place that would bring her the most excitement tonight. Her mind couldn't stop from wandering back to Damon though , the night of passion and lust they had. From the flirting into the bar to going back to a bed it was deliciously sinful. Yet probably never going to happen again so having those thoughts were semi pointless.
Finally finding a place that looked promising she grinned at were she pulled up to. Club Dagger. This place always brought her good times so it seemed like why even risk ruining a good thing. Grabbing her keys and jacket making her way inside paying the cover and handing off her things for the coat check. Body already moving the beat of the music. Yes it would show promise of a great night. Her outfit catching eyes already , all Mira would do was offer winks and teasing glances to the males that were eyeing her like their next meal. Please didn't they have more class or better things to do , not that she was any better when she found something she wanted , that was besides the point though. Music was thumping though the club , her eyes catching the DJ she was an attractive woman. even though Mira didn't swing for woman that didn't mean she wouldn't admire a beautiful woman when she saw one. Moving to the music her body and hips would move to each beat of the bass. Something was missing though and Mira figured it would be time to request a song. Without wasting anymore time she headed towards the booth.
Offering the woman a warm smile, requesting the song she smiled and waited for it to start playing happy with the woman's reaction to her choice. Giving a little jump and cheer of excitement that others like her music taste. Yes she could be very childish at times that didn't bother her though. Heading back to the floor she paused hearing her voice " Of course." Happily joining her in dance her body moved across the dance floor before moving back towards her dance partner, never minded ever putting on a little show. Giving a laugh she would continue to move to the beat. " Your a great Dj and dancer. I'm Mira by the way nice to meet you."

Music and booze were circulating through the club like water and smoke, making people loose and fluid, popping through the club. Kaia observed it all from on high like some kind of artistic goddess, feeling the power over it pulse through her blood. Whoo. She loved her damn job! Kaia got to dance and groove and play with music every night, for money. It was some kind of amazing. Also, she got to wear whatever the hell she wanted, and say pretty much whatever she wanted, and changed her hair as often as she liked. The little DJ was blonde at the moment, and it was working for her. She rather loved the short blonde curls on her head, even though they were semi-covered by a hat. One time she’d heard that ‘to be blonde is to be noticed.’ No idea how true that was, but it seemed to be true enough. Hell, maybe that was just for the black girls, for whom blonde wasn’t a natural color. She didn’t fucking know. And anyways, it’d change in a week or so, when she selected some new color that was talking to her that day. Maybe blue… or black with blue highlights… something to think about when she got there. For now though, she’d rock out the blonde locks.
The cute little squeal Kaia agreeing to made her chuckle, and it was probably that that prompted her to go down and join the pretty brunette. The tiny DJ had a few songs always lined up for the next couple of tracks, just in case she had to get down to pee or get a drink or whatever. Usually, she stayed at her station, but sometimes a girl just had to go and groove with the people who made her feel loved. Not that they noticed her very often, she was just a hot fixture, unless they wanted to make a request or she played something exceptionally popular. So mingling was never a bad thing. It wasn’t like she was gonna take any of they asses home with her. Too frickin’ paranoid for that. She didn’t ever take people home with her. She didn’t know them like that, for one. But there was no harm in a little shameless dancing with a pretty human woman. Yes, she knew she was human. Still getting the hang of the immortal thing, but sometimes it came in handy. ‘Specially when you had as many potential enemies as Kaia did… Yeah. That white chick could dance though, she ‘d give her that. And they both saw the charged looks that the crowd of men and women were giving them, bonding over it. Kaia even got the woman’s name out of the deal.
’Thanks sugar! Mira, huh? Nice to meetcha. I’m Kaia. Like it said on the posters on your way in.’ Her hips swiveled, and she wrapped Mira’s arms around her neck, a little hot and grinding, but her new companion was rolling with it beautifully. ’What brings you to the club, Mira? Business or pleasure?’ It was a silly question, but Kaia was feeling playful, and there was no room for such heaviness in the club when she was dancing with a pretty woman with no expectations.

Clubs something Mira loved to do , you could lose yourself and no one would even know. Being able to be a totally different person just for a night , no fears no worries just the music the drinks and good company. Who wouldn't want that in their lives , tonight Mira was looking for just that and she seemed to have found it in a very beautiful dancing partner and DJ. Now even though she wasn't for woman that didn't mean she couldn't appreciate a woman of beauty or someone else who knew how to move their body. The music was pumping the drinks were flowing people were gathering around on the floor and dancing. Why more people didn't do this was a mystery to Mira , even more so when her brother didn't find any enjoyment in it either. Damien was someone who was innocent who could still blush when a girl made his way over to him. Something that Mira found so sweet , one thing Mira never did when she knew she wanted nothing could stop her from going after it. Which was what brought Mira out tonight , dancing clubbing music. Yes this was what she wanted and nothing was going to stop that.
Smiling at Kaia her hips moved once more to the bass that was humming around them , it was a very pretty name. “ No problem , Kaia that is a very pretty name you have.” Eyes looked in shock though as she finally placed the name. “ Oh Kaia oh my god I love your work , I have always wanted to go to one of your shows I am do happy that I am here now. This just made my night ten times better. “ Kaia knew her music and how to get a good beat going , probably why the club tonight was such a success. Mira loved listening to her stuff on the computer something about it always caused her to dance no matter what she was up to. Mira couldn't ever find a reason not to enjoy a good dance , it was even better now that she got to meet the woman who she often danced to.
“ Oh pleasure of course I would hate coming to a club for business I think it would ruin all the fun. I am happy that you get to enjoy a dance with me though.” Since she already knew that Kaia was here to work she wouldn't waste time asking that pointless question but she would enjoy the music and enjoyment of the night. Just showing possible more times for even more enjoyment even if it was just going to be company with a good friend. “ Care to get a drink after your shift , it is always nice to have a drink with good company.” Offering a smile at that , she hoped that wasn't to awkward of a question, she could be a rather pushy curious one at the best of times.

Kaia was one of the lucky ones, in many ways. Mostly, she was lucky that her work and her play were the same thing. Oh, not all of it, of course. The immortal had other hobbies to keep her entertained. But the thing that took up most of her time was obviously music, blending and popping and creating. And she was lucky, in that she loved it. The other stuff though, like roller derby, decorating her house, writin’ in her own journal, she had reasons to love that shit too. Always had. Lucky that her parents had encouraged her to follow whatever the hell made her happiest, wasn’t she? They didn’t push her to do something extra brilliant and complicated- though they had no idea how complex a disc jockey’s job really was nowadays- they pushed her to grab and hold as much happiness for herself as she possibly could. It had, at one point, included her husband… that hadn’t lasted. The dance beats and other stuff persisted though, followed her into the rest of her life. They were like earworms, a thing you couldn’t get rid of, til you followed it to its end, like you were supposed to. In the club, you were supposed to shake and bop and dance until you couldn’t anymore.
She was well on her way to that state of being with Mira, as she learned the pretty brunette chick’s name was, spinning and swiveling in their semi-embrace. The hungry wolf-like looks they were getting meant that Mira could likely go home with her choice of company, later, if she was inclined. But apparently, not. No, she was a fan of Kaia’s, and the short black woman laughed outright at the look on her face. She’d had people profess to loving her combination of hustle and flow before, but never with the utter expression of shock and delight. ’Lotsa thanks for all the compliments, sweetie. Gotta tell you though, my shows ain’t that special. They’re pretty much like this, just more expensive.’ She winked, twirled, and grabbed Mira’s hips, tugging her in close while she continued speaking, picking up where she’d left off. ’Love meeting a real fan who knows me though. So you amped up my night too, Mira. Props.’ The beat continued poppin’ and thumpin’, and Kaia was waiting for that built-in warning note to herself that would tell her to haul her tiny, yet curvaceous ass back up to the booth before there was no more music playing and a riot started. She had a few more minutes to kill though, and doing it in Mira’s company didn’t suck at all. Especially since the girl was there for fun and not anything super serious.
’Awesome! I far prefer peeps to appreciate my blendin’ ‘cause they wanna, not ‘cause they have to. And you might be surprised how much fun I have doing this for business. ‘Specially with lovelies like you out here.’ Her grin was sassy and infectious, poking a little fun at Mira for claiming that a club environment for business stole the fun. The human woman went with the teasing pretty easily, actually, even asking Kaia to join her for a drink after work. Well, wouldja lookit that? Huh. There was no harm in it, right? Her brain did a quick calculate of the odds, and figured that it couldn’t hurt. And a little company would do her good. ’Sounds like a brilliant plan, babe. Thanks! You can tell me what you thought of the music tonight. ‘Preciate the feedback.’ She heard her failsafe riff, and nodded, spinning Mira into the arms of a tall brunette with a smirk, bidding her ‘deuces’ for the moment, shimmy-shaking her way back to her booth to select her new lineup.

Mira loved the club life the energy the music all of it, the bodies pressed against each other because they are feeling the same thing. Her brother didn't like this though and Mira accepted that but she felt bad for him as well. She wanted to Damien to be able to enjoy and explore life, not that he wasn't loving what he was doing. Mira knew that he did but that didn't stop her from wanting him to have more out of life. Wasn't that every siblings desire though to have their family have and want more, to expand their life. That was what Mira wanted to do at least until her brother left , she wondered sometimes how he was. Maybe the city life was just too much for him, being on a farm to this was a big change for all them. Mira loved it though the life and flings the drinks, if anything she wanted more it was fun and full of excitement. Every night something else was happening it was intoxicating like tonight she got to meet one of her favorite DJ's who could say they got to ever do that , not many and that was what made this night even better.
Smiling softly Mira would continue to move her body while she talked with Kaia , Kaia was a beautiful name and one not heard very often. It probably was one that not many forget either always able to leave an impression. She was happy though , happy that someone else was dancing with her, and that they were enjoying her compliments just as much as she liked giving them out. Because really who didn't like being told something good about themselves. It was always something nice to do and even more so to hear. “ Well this show is beautiful so I don't know if I would want to see a show that was less then this, I think you ruined other shows for me.” Her tone teasing of course if there was another show happening down the line, Mira would be there it wouldn't matter who was performing it as long as she got to see it. “ Oh well I am glad to be of service then, do you dance with a lot of your fans or am I just a special case.” While she didn't go for girls that didn't mean you weren't able to have friendly banter and teasing with one did it.
Mira could only imagine what it was like doing this for a living, a different club every so often just playing your music. Allowing yourself to see what people liked and didn't like their energy filling the club and the good vibes their the dancing and cheering for a good song playing. The job was probably stressful as well but who wanted to think about that. No it was time for enjoyment and just good music and kick ass company. “ Well glad I could help, wasn't sure what I would find tonight going out but I am really happy I did. “ Her arms moving over a her head for a few moments before dropping back down to her hips as she swayed to the bass. “ Oh for sure I would love to help and give any input I can. How much longer do you have for your show? As much as she was in the dancing groove she body was slowly starting to wear down but she didn't want to seem rude either so for as long as Kaia needed to work Mira would stay dancing.

Sometimes, the immortal was pretty happy for her new aura-reading abilities. To see the pulsing waves of color over the crowd, the happy or negative ones giving her a visual sign that her music was well-received. Or poorly… whichever. It was usually not the latter though. She had had a good eye and ear for that sort of thing before she sold her soul, and now it was better. Kaia actually did take a small sampling of opinions from the people who attended her gigs. Ones like Mira, who were fans, and ones that weren’t. Good to know both sides of the story. Praise and criticism both. Though the criticism was a lot less fun to hear, sometimes it was totally worth it. She could use the information to her benefit. Just like a song request. Mira had started their interaction with a song request. And it was still going great after that.
The little brunette could dance, that was for sure. It gave her the impression that Mira probably did this on a regular. She was a clubber, Kaia could tell. People like Mira were part of why Kaia loved her job so much. Why, when she’d run away from the things that were chasing her, she still couldn’t give up the job and the music. It was one of the things in her life that had always brought her a pure joy, completely untainted by the husband she’d left behind. And every show did that, not the littler ones over the bigger ones or vice versa. But Mira seemed to be under the impression that Kaia had somehow spoiled her with this one, makin’ the DJ laugh and shake her head. ’Awfully sweet, aren’t you? Don’t go all ‘groupie’ on me, ‘kay?’ A quick chuckle left her as they kept dancing, and the small black woman spoke again. ’You know I’m mostly responsible for the music, right? All the pretty shit around us, not my job. And other shows could be just as good… maybe.’ She winked with a sassy grin and hip shimmy, backing the girl up a little with her feigned pushiness. Another chuckle left her at the tease Mira gave her about dancing, and she swiveled, shrugging. ’Ta be honest, I didn’t even know you was a fan ‘til we got out here, remember? But you must be special, ‘cause I only leave the booth for good reason.’ Her breath came a little faster as they got more crowded, and the press of bodies moved in time with the music, and she lost herself to the flow for a few, before her warning pinged her senses, and she started making moves, still talking to Mira a bit.
’Nobody ever knows what they gonna find out here. It’s a wild kinda place. Sometimes we just get lucky, huh?’ And Kaia had gotten lucky too. She really did love meeting a real fan. There were a lot less fans of deejays than musicians, so the immortal felt more special when she met one that actually knew who she was. Don’t misunderstand, she knew that she was popular, but come on. Most were impressed with the people who made the music, not the ones who spat it out in fun ways for dancing to. Maybe that was part of why the little blonde actually accepted, and upped the ante. ’Excellent! I got like, an hour left. Dance your heart out, and I’ll catch you in a few.’
And that’s what they did. Kaia kept it up, ending the night on a roaring note of approval, before handing the system over to a more standard electronic shuffle, and packing her stuff up before squiggling out to find Mira. ’So, what’d you think?’
