Judas missed the water. He missed free swimming, and as much as he might now like his tail, he enjoyed the deep blue sea aspect of it. He also missed running. He used to do it way before his life went to ashes and he got Sabriel. He had loved it, and now that he got a day off he decided that he should do the things that he misses most. Sabriel was being looked after by Basil for their day out, and he didn't want to sit around at home. He wouldn't do running today, he'd simply walk to the his favourite place. The waterfall was a truly spectacular place. It was beautiful and there were barely any people there. It let into the sea, and he liked that. The seclusion of it because he would hate for anyone to see what he is. His tail. Even though he knew he should grow used to the tail, the merman simply couldn't. Some might say that that might reflect onto his opinion on his daughter's tail, but they couldn't be more wrong. He would never want her to hate a single aspect of herself. Judas was the way he was because of the parents he knew about nine years ago.
He took his phone just in case something happened with Sabriel, because he could never be too careful. The walk to the waterfall really was quite long, but Judas enjoyed the burn in his calves. He rolled his shoulders a little to simply stretch them, not having had time to worry about his own body so much in the last few weeks. Taking in a deep breath he was so glad that the weather today would be nice all day. He'd hate to be walking and it would start raining, and his tail would make an appearance. What an uncomfortable thing, that even a sliver of water makes it appear. It could happen in the middle of a busy street if you don't find shelter quickly enough. Judas has been unfortunate to have been pushed into a water fountain in the middle of the museum. He had been shaken up, and he hated that the vampire who he held a hate for was the one to help him. The one to make everyone forget. Of course, after he got lots of fish jokes, and then people wonder why he has low self esteem when it comes to his tail. It is much easier to believe people if they say bad things rather than good.
Running hand through the strands of his hair - longer than usual because he hadn't even had time to think about cutting it - Judas took a winding path down the forest. It was familiar now, but he'd need to take another turning off the main path just so no one would bother him. He doesn't want anyone to see. He does so, winding between tree's, branches breaking under his feet. He had a backpack on his back, a towel in there because he'd need to be completely dry for him to get his legs back. He had learned to be completely prepared for everything.Or, as much as anyone could be. The breeze blew cool but he didn't care, because the water would be just right for him the moment he grew his tail. Sometimes people wonder how fish don't get cold, and the scales make it so they're about the same coolness as the water, counterbalancing any coldness.
Once there, Judas put his bag under a small hollow in a rock, stripping quickly he still felt self conscious of being naked in such an outside place, yet the water would be hiding him. Throwing his clothes on his bag, Judas' skin prickled with multicoloured goose-bumps because of his tattoo's. The tattoo's were the only thing he really liked about himself. Because they were a part of him and his choice to be a part of him, and no one could take that away. The first step into the water was freezing, but ten seconds later the transition from legs to tail happened and the water felt just right. With a satisfied huff, he moved to sink under the water, head and shoulders too, before he swam. He swam like he hadn't in the longest time, directing with his arms and tail. This is the only thing that he could appreciate about the curse. That he had freedom to roam the waters so openly.
