OVERALL
pretty much, gabriel is a fun guy. he isn't past hanging out at bars with friends or partying or just getting to know people. like most men, he enjoys sex although he doesn't really care much about the gender of a person. he's learned over the years to be open-minded about things like that. days with too much sun make him angry, and it's usually on those days that he'll stay indoors; on the opposite end, rain soothes him. he's been an immortal for seven hundred or so years, so he knows his shit.

he has a good sense of humor and knows when to laugh, often times making himself involved with whoever he happens to be around. he might make some enemies along the way but he gets along with pretty much anyone as long as your life goal isn't to commit genocide (of the human race, obviously). he doesn't quite enjoy being an immortal because he doesn't have a soul and all that, but he made the choice to become one so that he could get revenge on a demon back in the 1200s. he regrets his choice but now must live with it forever. literally.

gabriel started off human, born to andrea mosra and an unknown father back in the late 1200s. life was rough for him, given that his human mother was trying to support him on her own. she had frequent lovers in the house, something that always confused the young gabriel, although he would never find out that it was because his mother needed the money.

in any case, it was early on that gabriel would learn about the supernatural world. when he was about fifteen years old, he found his mother's corpse outside the back of his house, with the killer still present. a vampire (and his mother's most recent boyfriend) had completely drained his mother of all of her blood and left her for dead in the backyard. gabriel witnessed the entire scene from inside the house and managed to run and hide in his bedroom before the vampire came back into the house. the man disappeared without a trace after that, and the young gabriel had to phone the police.

as it happened, the police offer that arrived on the scene made the decision that gabriel would have to be given to the small orphanage-type place up the next town away because the boy didn't have any other known family members because his mother had broken away from her original family years ago. and they weren't about to track down who they were -- they didn't have those kinds of resources way back then.

and so gabriel was shipped off to the next town with nothing but his bag of clothes, since he had no other belongings to speak of. he was immediately met with other children that were more or less his age, and it was there that he would meet a boy who was a year younger than him. this boy claimed to be a merman. thinking him absolutely mad, gabriel ignored him for the longest time until the day came that he got to witness first-hand that the boy was telling the truth. it didn't take long after that before he realized that a good handful of the children living with him in the orphanage were other supernatural races that he'd never heard of.

so, on his eighteenth birthday, gabriel was allowed to leave. again, he was shipped out with nothing but the clothes on his back and a few extra shirts. he traveled over to england, where he lived for the next huge chunk of his life. after getting a 'job' working under a man who lived in the town he was in, he barely managed to get by living (with the man he was employed by) in the crap conditions that were the 1300s.

so, skipping ahead a few years. he was still living with the man he worked for when he was around twenty-five or so and working his ass off. the man asked him if gabriel knew anything about the supernatural population lurking about, which gabriel agreed to, somewhat. he told gabriel that there was a demon roaming the town who wished for humans to be slaves to him. it was just a warning, which gabriel took to heart. however, shit would hit the fan when the man who had taken gabriel in was slaughtered for telling some of the townspeople of his existence.

gabriel was enraged at this, but really couldn't do a thing about it. it was during this time that gabriel vowed to kill all supernaturals, and in his rage, he sold his soul to satan in order to become an immortal so that he could kill the demon without worrying so much about his fragile human body. he quickly acquired the blade that was needed to kill a demon and managed to stake the bastard in the heart after many failed attempts. once this entire mess was over, gabriel regretted selling his soul. he also had the police on his trail since he left evidence all over the demon's house. fingerprints can be a bitch.

and so, he fled to a neighboring town. things were quieter here, so he was able to live in peace. skipping forward to the 1400s, he would meet the woman of his dreams (or so he thought). her name was catherine. their initial meeting wasn't anything special. they'd just bumped into each other one day and they introduced themselves. but for gabriel, it might as well have been love at first sight. he would do things that others would define as creepy, like watching her walk by at the same time on certain days of the week. it didn't take long before gabriel knew most of her schedule. he'd even "accidentally" run into her on the sidewalk, claiming about how odd it was that they kept running into each other.

after a short amount of time, gabriel became obsessed (he called it "being in love"). especially when he figured out that catherine had gotten with another man. this other guy didn't seem to be anything special, so gabe slowly became restless, trying to figure out why she didn't want to hang out with him after all the times they'd run into each other and why she choose sebastian over himself. furious, he left town for while to let off some steam.

but when he returned, guess what he found? catherine. sebastian. MARRIED, of all things. and fuck, she was due to have a child soon?! gabriel didn't know what to do, so he turned to alcohol. he practically destroyed his apartment that night in a drunken rage. if that wasn't enough, he left shortly after and made his way to sebastian and catherine's house (since he had found out where she lived long before) and broke in. he proceeded to strangle her where she lay in bed after giving birth to sebastian's child a little earlier.

there isn't much that he remembers from that night other than actually killing the woman he "loved" and sebastian getting a glimpse of him before he escaped. he assumed that the demon was too preoccupied with the body of his wife to have chased gabriel out of the house. but he awoke the next morning feeling the familiar emotion of guilt and regret. fearing that sebastian would come after him, he fled the country and ended up in germany.

he'd spend the next couple hundred of years here, just enjoying german culture. during this time he'd become more "normal" of a person, since he believed his 'soulmate' to be long gone. he'd killed her, after all. so he didn't have to worry about being tied to someone anymore, right? right. so he lived his life like a normal person, pretending every day that he wasn't an immortal, that he was just a normal human.

because of his love for humans, he made a new vow -- that he'd never let any more harm come to them because of the supernatural. even though he was one himself, he still felt as though he too was human. and since he was going to live forever, why not try to protect others? think of it as his new century's resolution. he even changed his name to the current one he now has.

shortly after, gabriel heard about the town of manuka in the northern united states. there were a lot of supernatural there, which meant that there were a lot of humans that needed protecting. so he packed up his belongings and his weapons, and headed for manuka, maine. he lives there now in a small apartment and bar-tends part-time at one of the nightclubs. little did he know that sebastian followed him there... >D
