OVERALL
landon is pretty much the typical nice guy. he loves making new friends and just being around them. after he became a vampire and realized he'd probably outlived the man he wanted to spend his life with, he continued on and tried to be happy, although he was never romantically attracted to anyone after that. he's very loyal to the point where he's gotten himself into trouble a few times (even if this scenario involved him as a child, with his friends saying things like "if you wanna be our friend, go steal candy from the store." while he knew it was wrong, he did it anyway because in his mind, he was "proving" their friendship, not earning it).

he's pretty much open about his interest in guys, and doesn't hide anything when asked about it. sometimes landon can be gullible and he also tends to be oblivious to things that others would understand in less than a second (but he does this in a cute way, so it's acceptable).

OVERALL
landon was born entirely human to james and adrianna harter, and grew up as an only child. there was this one time when he was four where a stray cat jumped out of a bush near his house and attacked his foot. while landon's foot ended up okay, the damage had already been done. he was scarred for life, and thus his fear of cats was born. since then, he gets a bit jumpy around them. anyway, he had a pretty normal childhood, and started showing early signs of his homosexuality when he was about nine years old.

when he reached the age of about eighteen or nineteen, he met lief. to his surprise, he quickly found himself falling in love with the other man and soon they became a couple. they were happy together, and landon thought of proposing to him after they'd been dating for a while. he even went out and bought a ring to propose with (not a big, diamond-y one like you would get a woman, but just regular, gold band that matched the one he would wear himself once they got married). but of course, things weren't about to work out for them.

rogue hunters got a hold of him, and proceeded to torture him. confused as to what he did wrong, they beat landon practically into a bloody pulp (among other not-so-nice things). at the time, he assumed they might have just been drunk...or something. he was never quite sure. he was vaguely aware of the fact that his boyfriend had been watching him, but his mind was elsewhere. some time later, unknown really to landon, for he felt nothing but white-hot pain, he was released (probably because he was just human at that point, and the hunters saw no point in actually killing him.

barely alive and bleeding to death, landon escaped only because the hunters allowed him to. it didn't take long for the scent of his blood to attract a predator, and it was basically around this time that landon became familiar with the fact that supernatural beings lived amongst the humans. what happened during this time? well, for one, he was attacked by the stranger, who happened to be a vampire. after being drained of mostly the rest of his blood, the vampire left him to die. however, landon had other plans. he wasn't ready to lose lief yet.

and so, he was turned. he laid there, waiting for the transformation to complete itself. it didn't take long for him to feel the craving of blood - especially when he hardly had any in him to begin with. he needed to feed, but his wounds stopped him from doing anything important. he made his way home, very, very slowly. when he arrived at his house and saw his parents, the monster within took over. needless to say, his parents died that night. he hadn't meant to do anything to them, and lives to this day trying to forget that night.

and so, he went off the radar. he didn't want to be caught for his parents' deaths, and couldn't bring himself to face lief after what he did - even though the other man didn't even know what landon had done. his wounds slowly healed themselves, leaving no scars in their wake. he bought a small apartment and still lives there to this day. eventually, the police gave up on looking for his parents' murderer and moved on. and having believed that lief was human, landon believed the man died years and years ago. after all, it had been two hundred years almost since the last time he saw him..

Almost panting, the man stumbled forward blindly, not knowing where the hell he was going. He could hear sounds coming from unknown places and he wasn't quite sure he wanted to know what was making them. Sure, his 'other' self was far more frightening them all of them -- but he wasn't about to lose his mind to that monster again any time soon. He couldn't remember the events that had transpired the night before, which is why he hadn't the slightest clue where the hell he was right now. Obviously he was in the enemy's territory, but he'd be damned if he knew where.

With a grunt, Gage took another few steps forward. Hands held out in front of him, he felt the familiar roughness of tree bark and stopped moving. Letting out a sigh, he took a glance around. But it didn't matter. It wasn't like he could see a damn thing anyway, in this dense forest. His eyes weren't used to this landscape, let alone the perpetual darkness that seemed to loom over the land. The man moaned lightly, feeling his muscles ache under his weight. How easy it would be right now to bound off on all fours.. If the man had any control over his bestial form and if he knew how to trigger the transformation, he would probably agree to it right now. Dogs had better night vision, after all. Right now, his eyes meant shit to him.

Stepping around the tree, he continued walking onward. Boy, he'd be screwed right now if someone found him here. Not only would he look completely ridiculous to them walking blindly with flailing arms, but he was on their territory. He could be mistaken for someone from the neighboring continent, which would end even worse than if they knew where he was actually from. In conclusion, it was best to just not be found at all.

"Damn it.." he muttered, when he felt a branch give way under his foot. It let out a loud snap, alerting anyone or any thing that he was standing right where he was. Frozen for a second, he contemplated just sitting on the ground and resting. But that wasn't really a good idea -- he wasn't really in the mood to be eaten by anything bigger than him right now. And he started moving again. That is, until he ran face first into a tree.
