[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] You can have it all but life keeps moving The Words: enough The Outfit: here The Notes ahh! Harlyn had decided today was just going to be a whatever kind of day. And what was that exactly? Well, it was exactly what it sounded like. The wolf wasn’t going to make any plans for today. It was too nice out to try to plan every minute of it. Harlyn was just going to go with the flow, see where the day took her. Those were always the most interesting, to her at least. There were some people who liked to have everything laid out in front of them but Harlyn definitely wasn’t one of those people. Order wasn’t exactly her style, after all.
So Harlyn packed a backpack full of things she thought she might need; a sketchbook, pencils, a book she had been trying to read, her cigarettes, a bag of pretzels, and a bottle of water. Hey, she could get hungry or thirsty on her adventure. Who knew where she was going to end up? Besides, Harlyn swore she was almost always hungry. Her grandma used to joke that Harlyn would eat them out of house and home and honestly, Harlyn was surprised she didn’t. You’d think that she’d weigh a billion pounds by now, with how much she loved to eat and how much she hated to exercise. She was just lucky, she guessed.
With all that ready, Harlyn got on her bike and rode off with little heed to what direction she was heading or where she was going. She wasn’t really paying much attention to anything around her either, which was a bit of a problem. There were a couple of times where she let her bike swerve out into the road and in front of traffic, which would then cause a chorus of car honks in her direction. It happened more than Harlyn liked to admit, the whole spacing out thing and then causing issues. It was people like her that made drivers hate sharing the road with bikers.
Eventually though, Harlyn shifted from the city to a more rural setting. That was one thing that the wolf had always loved about Manuka. For as big of a city as it was, you never had to feel like you were missing out on nature. It was right there, not even that far of a bike ride from center city. Otherwise, the girl didn’t think she’d be able to take living in Manuka. It was a nice city and all, and she really did like it, but Harlyn was more of a grass and trees kind of girl. She liked being surrounded by green, nothing but nature and the animals that lived there. Honestly, Harlyn didn’t understand how you couldn’t enjoy being outside.
Today seemed like a perfect day to just flop down in the middle of a meadow and soak up the sun. That was exactly what she was going to do. Once Harlyn got to the meadows, she got off her bike and walked it to a random part of the meadow, dropping it in the grass once she found the perfect place. The girl set her backpack next to the bike and then laid down next to that, looking up at the clouds. The only thing that could make today better was a friend. That was exactly what Harlyn needed. She grabbed her phone and texted ‘Come find me. I’m in the meadows!’ the first person that came to mind – Bear. Harlyn loved his company and she thought he’d probably enjoy this too. |

It was no secret that Bear had always been a bit of a bum, especially on bright days like this. It was the perfect kind of day to simply sleep all day, and yes, the animal in him was grunting in agreement, The warmth of the sun was a temptress, threatening to lull him into slumber if he stuck around any longer. It didn't help that Benjamin was narcoleptic as well, since ever since Sawyer's apparent 'death', he had been more nocturnal than usual. But now that he was living with his older brother, he did notice the shift in his sleeping cycle, he had become more diurnal. He wasn't sure if he appreciated the change, since he was no longer able to forage for berries at night, but ah well, what could he do? The change, he noted, wasn't too bad. The city was more active during the daytime, but that didn't stop him from feeling the occasional bout of drowsiness.
He was slumped on the couch, playing the role of a lazy hobo, flicking through the channels on the television restlessly. Benjamin was too lazy and sleepy to look for adventure, and he wasn't exactly feeling too interested in actually watching anything. To be honest, he was waiting to fall asleep. Televisions had a habit of doing that to him when he was drowsy, and just when he felt his eyes begin to close automatically, his phone buzzed. Curious, and wondering who it was, he picked it up and his face automatically broke into a smile when he saw the ID of the sender. It was from Harlyn. He had met the peculiar werewolf the other day, and quirky as she was, he had found himself liking her immediately. Bear wasn't going to admit that he perhaps, maybe had a tiny crush on her ever since they met. She had just been that adorable, and the little werewolf had not fully left his mind. Nevertheless, deciding that a crush was just a crush, he was content to understand that it would probably fade in time, and having Harlyn as his friend was already more than enough for him.
Rolling off the couch, suddenly feeling not sleepy anymore, Bear ran a hand through his disheveled mop of curly hair and was out the door in an instant. Replying to Harlyn's text and telling her that he was on his way, he proceeded to take the walk that would take him to the meadows. Luckily for him, he knew the shortcuts around Manuka, and so, did not take him too long to reach the meadow. That was the perks of exploring a city, you knew its ups and downs and its roads. He had already most of the city's parts memorized. When Bear finally reached the meadow, he looked around for Harlyn, and spotted her short figure immediately, lying down on the grass.
"Hey!" he greeted her, plonking himself down on the grass next to her once he had finished making his way through the foliage. "Thank goodness you texted me, I was about to fall asleep back home." He could feel his heart beating a little faster than it usually did when he looked at her, and as usual, choosing to ignore it, cheerfully added. "What've you been up to, Harls?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] You can have it all but life keeps moving The Words: enough The Outfit: here The Notes ALREADYADORABLEAKSDJA It was no secret that Harlyn wasn’t good at waiting. It wasn’t that she got impatient or anything – if you knew Harlyn, you knew she was one of the biggest sweethearts you could ever meet – and she was always understanding about why someone was late. What Harlyn really couldn’t get behind was the whole doing nothing while waiting thing. She wasn’t always the greatest at doing that. The werewolf liked to have something going on, whether it was talking to someone or watching a movie or drawing or something as simple as playing a game on her phone. She liked to be doing something that took her attention and passed the time.
Right now, it was just her and the grass, which wasn’t very entertaining at all. The girl found herself plucking at the grass, twisting it and tying stalks of it together. It was what had kept her entertained until she heard Bear’s greeting. He had gotten here much quicker than Harlyn had thought he would, so it was a nice surprise to suddenly have company. A huge smile spread across the werewolf’s face at the sound of his voice and she pulled herself into a sitting position so she could see him better. “Well then, I’m glad I caught you before you went to sleep!”
It was true, too. Harlyn didn’t know what she’d do if he hadn’t been able to come meet her here. She hadn’t known him that long, but it didn’t mean Harlyn liked him any less. They had talked a lot the first day they met and she had that sort of instant connection that she rarely had with people. See, Harlyn liked making friends. She liked people liking her and hated when there was anyone who didn’t particularly care for her. It was this sort of attitude that led her to making all sorts of friends. The wolf doubted she could list them all. But the thing was, having that many friends meant she was rarely close to any of them. They were people she could call in a pinch and she could hang out with and know she’d have a good time, but they weren’t necessarily people she’d want to have deep conversations with.
There were only a few people that Harlyn had that connection with and those were the people she considered her closest friends, the ones that she could tell anything to and know it’d be safe. Goose, her best friend, was one of those people. She told him everything. Or well, mostly everything because there were a few things she refused to tell anyone. And Harlyn already knew that Bear was going to be one of her closest friends too. There was just something about him that made Harlyn want him to be an important part of her life. Maybe it was because he was such a sweetheart, or maybe it was because he had one of those smiles you couldn’t help but fall in love with. Whatever the reason, she knew it was going to be a better day because he could come join her.
“Today has pretty much been one long bike ride,” Harlyn told Bear, smiling at the little nickname he had thrown in. She had to say, she really liked it, even if she wasn’t always the biggest fan of nicknames. Mostly, it was because if anyone ever felt like calling her anything other than Harlyn, it was “Lynnie”, which sounded like a nickname for a little girl. Now that Harlyn was all grown up, she wasn’t so sure it fit anymore. “Figured it was time to relax. Look for shapes in the clouds. You know, all that jazz.”

If Harlyn had not taken the initiative to text him, he would have fallen asleep right there and not have woken up until nightfall. You see, Bear loved sleeping, it was quite a typical trait for a creature like him, especially when there was warm sunshine and fluffy pillows. He was indeed a bum, and damn well adored being a bum who did nothing all day but sleep and forage for food. He wasn't getting fat because he worked out regularly, though the exercise was to only keep him nice and lean and fit. The young Rhys wasn't looking to get extremely ripped so that girls could go gaga over him, but his body did not look as though it was verging on the edge of fat and huge soon. The bear in him wouldn't allow it, due to all the lumbering that it did and poking at beehives, and taking off at full speed whenever he was done with the honey. You took what you could get with whichever exercise, oho. Exercising aside, Bear was thankful that Harlyn had decided to call him out, now that he thought of it, he wouldn't mind spending the entire day with her in the first place.
"I'm glad you caught me," he chuckled. "You just spared me from hobo-ing around the house all day." What boy didn't like the fact that the girl he may or may not be having a crush on had come looking for him for company? Bear could feel himself punching his own back in glee, but he tried not to make too much of a party in his head. Anything could happen in the meantime, but like any other boy, it was score one for him. Though he knew that even if he had not the slightest attraction to the werewolf, he still would not have minded going out with Harlyn. The tiny werewolf had a very welcoming, friendly aura around her that he really liked. The connection that they had had instantly had delighted Bear. It wasn't often that these things happened to him, he was quite the shy bug, but at least he was making the effort to come out of his shell a little bit often than he normally did. He was far from Huxley, who had a more difficult time than him adjusting to social situations, but Bear was getting better.
Back then, the shifter knew plenty of werewolves, Boston had its fair share, but unfortunately, most of them were in packs, and were usually brutally violent. Those packs hunted for sport, killing everything that they considered scum and weak. Unknown to him back then, those wolves were affiliated with the dark side, so it was quite a pleasant surprise for him when he came to Manuka. There were two packs of werewolves, one entirely male and one female. Harlyn was part of the female pack, and from what he had heard, they were alright, and not affiliated with the enemy side. Bear had heard of the alphas, who were always at loggerheads with each other, but at least they were not having pack wars and causing havoc around Manuka. If that wasn't a silver lining.
"Seen anything interesting in the clouds then?" asked Bear, grinning. "Maybe something like...jell-o?" He was messing around, he knew how much Harlyn disliked the jelly, but he loved seeing he get riled up about it. Before the werewolf could answer, he pulled out the packet from his pocket, one that he had managed to remember to snitch from the kitchen island before he left, The jell-o was bright green, and as he pulled it out, it wobbled cheerfully in front of Harlyn, almost as it it was greeting her. "Hopefully something like this?" He waved the jelly in front of her, waiting.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] You can have it all but life keeps moving The Words: enough The Outfit: here The Notes ALREADYADORABLEAKSDJA The werewolf was glad that she had been able to catch Bear before he had fallen asleep. She really didn’t know what else she’d do with the rest of her day if she hadn’t. Sure, there were other people Harlyn could’ve texted and tried to drag out here, but she had decided she wanted to spend the day with Bear and anything less than that wouldn’t have sufficed for her. He was one of the few people who didn’t seem to get annoyed by what could be conceived as clinginess. She couldn’t help that she liked people and would much rather be around others than alone. It just didn’t always come off the right way.
“You should be thanking me then!” Harlyn teased, her smile growing bigger at the sound of Bear’s chuckle. He had a really nice laugh, at least Harlyn thought so, and it was one that could make anyone around him happy. She was pretty sure she wouldn’t stop smiling while Bear was here. “I saved you from a day of boringness!” she added, a laugh slipping in as well. Harlyn didn’t think that spending all day by yourself doing with was bad necessarily, because everyone had those days that they needed to just chill by themselves. But when it came down to it, she’d much rather they hung out together.
She shifted to get more comfortable, putting her arms behind her head so she could prop herself up to stare at the clouds a little more. The sky really was pretty today, seeming as if it was almost jewel colored seeing as how it was such a beautiful blue. The clouds only seemed to cause the blue to pop more and even if Harlyn wasn’t so interested in finding pictures in the clouds, she wouldn’t have been able to stop looking up. It was days like these that she loved being outside. Good weather always made her happy; exceptional weather was beyond description to her.
The girl was about to answer Bear’s question by saying she had thought she had seen a cloud rabbit right before he came, but he hadn’t given her the chance to respond. Instead he mentioned jell-o, which caused Harlyn to sit up immediately. “Ew, of course not!” She said, attempting to sound as if she was offended by the suggestion, not that she thought Bear could really ever offend her. He was much too sweet to ever purposely say something that would upset someone. That was one of the many reasons she liked him so much. How could you not love someone so adorable?
Almost as if trying to prove that very thought wrong, Bear pulled a packet of jell-o pocket and held it out to Harlyn. The very color of it was unnatural, which was gross enough in itself. But what was worse was the wobble of the jell-o as he moved. Food wasn’t supposed to move like that. Ever. “Bear!” Harlyn shouted, playfully hitting him on the arm and scrambling to move as far as she could from the offending food. “That’s so disgusting! Why would you bring that with you!” All of this was said with a laugh, of course. Harlyn wasn’t really mad – how could you be mad at that face? – but it didn’t stop the jell-o from being revolting.
Covering her eyes, Harlyn shook her head. “Ugh, I’m going to have to rethink asking you to hang out again!” she complained, even though that really wasn’t true. What she did know, though, was that she wasn’t going to open her eyes until he put the jell-o away. It was a ridiculous thing to be afraid of, she knew, and ridiculous fears were something people always liked to use against someone when they got the chance. You really thought she would’ve learned by now that telling someone your fears wasn’t a good idea. Even with all the teasing she had gotten from Goose about it, she still hadn’t learned her lesson.

it's them that put me inside the reminder [/size][/color] yours is the only ocean i wanna swing from
"Well thank youuuuuu then, Harls." Bear couldn't help but laugh again at her. He felt his day continuously begin to lighten, all because he had made the decision to spend time with Harlyn. It all seemed too perfect, a bright day going to be spent with his adorable, quirky friend. He couldn't ask for anything else to ask for the time being, he really was on top of the world at this very moment. If Sawyer still had his memory. Bear knew with no doubt that he would be teased continuously for his infatuation with the werewolf. It was getting more and more difficult to hide the more time he spent with Harlyn, but the tiny brunette was so oblivious he needn't have worried. "More like you saved me from becoming a hobo." chuckled the shifter, already imagining himself with a beard and smelling to high heaven. "Y'know, all stinky and homeless, that sort of thingamajig."
Bear truly was enjoying himself. He had always been a little on the shy side, if not naive as well. The boy didn't have too many close friends back home, and nearly zilch when he came to Manuka. It had taken him a while to settle down in Kinsley's home, and even longer for him to get off his ass and look around for people to mingle with besides his brother and Kinsley. Fortunately however, Bear did manage to make a few friends, another shifter called Huxley, and then Harlyn. He was grateful for meeting the both of them, and hoped dearly that they would stick around him for many years to come. He definitely need to get out of the house more often and expand his circle of friends just a little bit more. Not too big, but he wasn't going to allow it to be too small either.
And like all his friends, he loved messing around with them. He had always been quite the playful soul, and did allow himself to get up to mischief from time to time. The moment he spotted the jell-o on the kitchen island back at home, he just knew that he had to show it to Harlyn. The shifter knew how much she hated the jell-o with a burning passion, but yet still wanted to show it to her. Her reactions were totally worth it, despite how ridiculous the fear was. The only harm the jelly could do to you was if it took the initiative to splatter itself on to your face, and the chances of that happening was zero unless someone decided to do it. Bear didn't understand her irrational fear of the jelly, but like most people, he took advantage of it whenever he could.
Her reaction really was totally worth it. He couldn't help but break out into laughter at the horror on her face. Adorable or not, he did use his mischievous streak well, one that he happily always put to use whenever it came to his friends. He nearly dropped the jelly onto the grass when she pushed him from laughing so hard, and when he managed to catch his breath, he saw that she had moved far, far away from him and the jell-o. Bear bounced the green blob on his hand again, holding it out to her. "It's not disgusting." he grinned, bouncing it over and over. "I thought you might like it."
"Aww come on!" he whined playfully, scooting over to where she was now perched. 'Tell you what, I'm gonna go ahead and eat this nasty little bugger. Watch this." When Harlyn removed her hands from her eyes, he popped the green jelly into his mouth and it was gone within seconds, down into his stomach. "Really now Harls," said Bear when he had finished gulping it down. "You shouldn't tell anyone that you are afraid of jell-o, people do things you know." It was the kind of fear everyone simply loved to use against others, Bear included. Harlyn should have learnt her lesson by now, but he didn't want her to because of all the fun he was getting from it. It contributed to her weirdness and cuteness, and that was all that mattered for him.
