OPTIMISTIC: Mason is an optimist. He believes in seeing the best in everything. He always has. He doesn’t see the point in being sad all the time. You can’t just let yourself be miserable unless you want to have an even worse life than what you think is bad now. Mason actually sees the people who just let their lives kick them around as somewhat selfish. They allow themselves to be miserable even though they are affecting everyone around them – family, friends, and lovers – negatively. Why not just be happy? Yeah. Shit happens, Mason would be one to know that best – but you’ll always see him with a smile on his face. That’s just who he is – I guess a troubled past can benefit one in the end no matter how horrible it was.
CLASS-CLOWN: Nobody can really figure out if Mason tries to be funny or if he just is funny. He’s always been the jokester at school – he’s “that kid.” He doesn’t really do it for attention, more so he can get people to lighten the fuck up. Everyone is always so serious all the time, and he wants to bring light to their minds that life isn’t really all that shitty unless you want it to be shitty. Worrying about a test the next day to the point where you actually cry is literally the dumbest thing to Mason. Although these values won’t exactly help him out in the future seeing as he isn’t serious about any thing. What he wants to do in life is always going to be a mystery seeing as he doesn’t really want to take the time to worry about such a “serious” decision. Maybe he can find a job that makes people happy, he’d like that.
WOLFIE-TENDENCIES: Becoming a werewolf was really the worst thing that could happen to such an optimistic kid. Werewolves are self-loathing and brooding, and Mason has always been far from that. However, since he was seventeen (when he was bitten and turned into a werewolf) Mason had begun to have a slight hate for himself. It’s an emotion that he buries deep inside himself, something that he tries to even forget. Hating himself goes against everything he stands for – but how can you not hate yourself when you killed your own parents on your first full moon? How can you not hate yourself when you’ve turned into a monster that thirsts for killing when you yourself are the most kind-hearted person? There’s that bitterness that is buried deeply within him, slowly torturing him more and more each day as he tries to avoid it. It gives him a bit of a temper when he’s been drinking, or the few days before a full moon. Completely out of character for Mason, but I guess that’s also what happens when your life fucks you over.
FICKLE-HEARTED: Mason’s maturity hasn’t reached its full level when it comes to his heart. He is an overly trusting person who falls in love easily. I say fickle hearted in the fact that Mason literally will fall in love with people so easily. Love in friendships and lovers. He likes people and he likes to make people happy so he really doesn’t take the time to think twice about he is talking to or trusting. If someone fucks him over, he just retreats to his mask of optimism. Of course, deep down he would be hurting but also trying to convince himself that it isn’t a big deal. He’d rather keep smiling then worry about how mean of a person the asshole was, although he really wouldn’t like that person all too much anymore. It wouldn’t take much for him to trust them again; he prefers to like people anyways. Hating takes too much time and effort. Back to the heart part of his fickleness, Mason can be quite the romantic. However, not in the sense where he’d bring flowers and write love notes. Just in the sense that he falls in love easily – and once he’s in love, he stays there for a long time. Of course, being a human being and a boy at that, not anyone can make him fall head over heels – he has things he looks for in women…. like attractiveness and personality. Just because he falls in love easily doesn’t mean he falls in love easily with just about anyone.

HISTORY: Mason was born on February 13, 1993. He had a typical “american dream” sort of family. With an older sister who has three years on him, and two loving parents. He didn’t grow up in Manuka. He grew up in good ol’ southern California, Santa Barbara to be exact. He attended all of elementary, middle, and almost all of high school there in the local public schools. Always the sparkle in his parents eyes even though he was usually failing almost all of his classes – even ceramics because he’d rather just play with the clay than make something out of it. Teachers loved and hated him – students usually just loved him. What wasn’t to like in a kid who was always smiling and had good-hearted humor? It wasn’t like he was teasing on the “losers” to make jokes. Mason wasn’t exactly popular in school, or maybe I should elaborate on the fact that he was popular in school but not in the sense of the “popular” kids in movies and such. He wasn’t a part of that crowd – he was just the kid who everyone knew because he was funny and nice.
It was 2010 when everything for Mason changed. In November of his Senior year, on the 21st, the newspaper littered the streets with a headline consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Bradley’s death. It happened on a Saturday, and that Monday Mason didn’t show up in school. Students figured it was because of grief, when in reality he was on a one way flight to Manuka. Somewhere far away from what he’d done where he could get away from it all. Although, it’s hard to get away from something so big in your life – the death of your own parents with their blood on your own hands. Mason can never forget the morning of November 21st. He woke up with blood all over his clothes and hands and his parents dead bodies laying on the family room floor in front of a TV that was still on. Mason couldn’t remember that night, but the morning made it clear to him that he was the reason for their deaths.
Confusion lead him back to a night that had happened a week earlier; he was at a house party, and when the cops came and everyone was running away Mason got split up from his friends. He hid deep in the woods, considering that the police wouldn’t go that far into them. He should have just kept with his friends instead of splitting up because that was when he was bit. Mason hadn’t really thought much of it, he was in the woods and in other animal’s territory, but now he realizes what it had actually been. Mason had heard all of the stories about the supernatural, and all of the stories about how the supernatural weren’t just stories. Mason didn’t think much of them, but after the night of the 20th and the bloody Saturday morning of the 21st Mason thought too much of them. He knew that the 20th was the night of the full moon, and that was when it dawned on him. Werewolf? Mason? Most people wouldn’t believe the two would ever be used in the same sentence. The student body of his high school and the entire town was gossiping about the death of the Bradley’s and the disappearance of Mason. His older sister was in college, and came for the funeral – which Mason was absent from. He hasn’t spoken to her in fear of her finding out. He’d rather just pretend he died or something.
Now it’s two years after the incident, and many full moons later. Mason lives in Manuka with two roommates that he adores (in a completely non-homosexual way). They’re like him in the sense that they’re werewolves – a bit like their own pack, meaning their bond is incredibly strong. The older of the three is the alpha, Mason and the other the two betas. It’s easier for Mason this way, he has nothing to hide from these people and they do nothing but help him and each other through the curse of being a werewolf. Mason refuses to return to finish his high school career, which means that he’s a high school drop out and without a college education – but he honestly couldn’t care less.
