Okay, I'm not trying to target anyone on the site, so please don't come at me in any type of negative way because I won't tolerate that.I'm an honest person so I felt like I should say that on our advertisement we should put that Nightmare is more of an intermediate/advanced site. Not like "we need a 1100 words per post' type of thing, but make sure it's known that we are not a beginners site. We are open to new rpers and such now, but it's just getting really old and making the site look like we're beginners ourselves. Plus putting that on our advertisement might bring in more experienced rpers as well. The people we have now are marvelous. I just have seen some things on the site that just don't make us look too good. We are getting more people and it's making the site bigger, but it's not making us better. I have been here for awhile so I know what I'm talking about. I'm not expecting positive feedback from this but it's my opinion and I feel like a lot of the older members will agree with me too and some of the new ones. Sorry this isn't all formal and shit haha. Okay that's it c:

I'm gonna chime in here, and say that I agree. I know from everyone that I talk to on a regular basis, which is just about everyone on the site, that we're all capable of producing at least 400 words per post, more likely 500. I've been thinking for a while that we should perhaps up the minimum word count, because I'd wager that 95% of us post over 400 words every time.
I know we've stated in the rules that one should be respectful with the people they RP with, and if someone posts 900 words, you should respond with at least 800 or so words in your reply, but this doesn't always happen, because people will default to the minimum, or slightly above the minimum because that's all they have to do. I've been personally part of threads where I exhaust time and effort, and get a 250-300 word reply, as have many other people, and it's frustrating. I agree with the proposal made above, that we should consider advertising ourselves as a more "literate" roleplay (this is a term I've seen on other site), and consider upping the word count to 400 words. Because, let's face it, not much can happen in 200 words, and we like to progress our plots.
Not trying to target anyone, because you KNOW I love you all, but I wanted to say that I agree with this being considered by our lovely mods/other players.

Sorry, I don't agree. It makes me feel like we're telling people who are new that they're not welcome. We're community and all should be welcome. Even if they're new at this we can help and teach them. What's wrong with that? It's how most of us started out. I just dislike the idea of excluding anyone based on what they can or can not produce.

i kinda agree and disagree ;-; while i think we should be advertised as a more literate site, the word count shouldn't be raised by a whole lot. maybe up to 300 words, but not more. i know that a lot of the time, some threads can be hard to post for, or muse isn't that good, and sometimes shorter replies make a thread go by easier. right now, i'm in a lot of long or medium length post threads, but i'm also in a few that are shorter, around 250-300 words. it makes it easier to reply to and they take a shorter amount of time to reply to, and it goes by faster. sometimes, the more rapid - post threads are fun.
that, and this should be a place where people can also get better at posting and writing. i think we could probably emphasize better grammar and sentence structure (geez sounds like we'd become an english class or something ew but still) to make sense during these long posts. i've seen a few people (most of which have actually left the site, as well as on other sites) that can pull off 500-ish word posts, but they are pretty bad grammatically. quality over quantity?
i hope that made sense ._. cause my brain is kinda fried

I have to agree with Kai. I've never understood being advertised as advanced or intermediate because we're not a community who don't accept people, you know? I think that what Kai said is completely right, we were all new once, and no one is amazing from post one. Therefore, I thought we were a community who are willing to aid those who are starting out and show them the ropes, and excluding begginers just seems wrong an unfair to me.
I do get the point of posting like 800 words and getting barely over the word count back, but like 400 words is such a scary number. I wouldn't join a site which required that of me even if I do post over 400, because it just feels like I'm being put under pressure and it's not longer fun. If you're one of those people who does put a lot of effort into a post, and get something small back, then I think we can deal with individuals, though really, it's not about word count as it should be quality over quantity. Yes, content is important in quality, but if people are just starting out, we can address the issue in a non-excluding way, but rather help people out.
When I was new, I was lucky enough to be on a site that accepted me. I wouldn't want to be a part of a site that excluded people just because they're new to something and haven't had the chance to learn. Because if everyone started doing that, how can anyone learn?

I think I agree with this. Even if we don't do a word count thingy, I'm kinda getting tired of 200 word replies when half of the reply is a repeat of what MY character said in MY post. cause that makes the person's post only be like half theirs. so while i dont think we should have a word coun,t we should probably just try to enforce a sort of dont use the other rper's quotes type thing or something. or something like what cuppy was saying. i understand its necessary sometimes here or there, but when EVERYTHING my character said in my post is repeated again in the other person's post, its a little frustrating cause it makes it harder for me to reply xD i dunno. just my two cents. carry on~ XD

there are a million and one other beginners sites they can go on. we're not excluding anyone. just a majority of us find it tiring to plot with newer rpers and threading with them. then us not plotting them makes them feel unwelcome. so either way it's unavoidable. and i always feel like a bitch when i dont plot with others based on their experience. it's difficult and actually very irritating.
