Today was a lazy day. One of those where you laid back and did nothing. Evan was slowly beginning to realize that as he lay on the couch of his apartment, ear buds in, arm across his eyes. He didn’t do well with lazy days. At all. In fact, Evan had been laying here for two minutes, already two minutes too long for him. His hands were starting to get this prickly feeling, like they were anxious to find something to do, his legs following suit and beginning to get restless. He’d only be able to last another minute or two before he shot off the couch, bored out of his mind. Evan probably had some form of ADHD or attention issues or something. The brunette was certain that he did, but had never been formally diagnosed. God forbid something was wrong with one of Mama Wells’s kid. That woman would much rather live life not knowing. Either way, he was always on the go, always moving, always finding something. Unfortunately for Mr. Wells, there were only so many somethings in a day and when you had an attention span as short as his, you tended to blow through them much too fast. What kept normal people entertained for a day would hold Evan over for an hour, tops. It seemed to be wrong that the one who constantly needed to do something always ran out of things to do.
Prediction coming true, Evan was on his feet in the than a minute, pacing his small but cozy living room. There had to be something to do. Homework? Pfft…Evan never did that. He was dangerously close to failing out of college for the second time, but the ambition that had convinced him to go back was running on empty and he was ready for his next project. Video games? No. Evan was already bored of the game he had bought a few weeks ago, playing it once and then never taking out of the box. The rest were beaten already. Call Ryden? Negative. The last time the two had hung out, Evan had gotten the vibe that he’d really annoyed the guy. Much wasn’t new on that front, but the young human thought it might be nice to give Ryden a breather before he started bothering him again. Calling another friend though, that was a starting point. The twenty five year old searched for his phone, almost giving up based on the assumption that it had disappeared. Evan wasn’t all too worried about finding it; it was somewhere in his apartment and he didn’t necessarily need to call someone. Evan happened to see it peeking from under the couch right before he was about to stop looking. Little rascal.
Gliding his thumb along the touch screen of the phone, Evan quickly scrolled through his contacts. There was a reason for each and every one as to why he shouldn’t call them. And then he got to the “S” portion of his phone, spotting a name he had thought he had deleted from his phone. Thumb hovering above the screen, Evan debated on whether or not he should do just that. Sara was his ex-girlfriend. Their relationship had mutually ended and on what Evan would consider good terms, but he had wanted to get rid of her number so there was no accidental drunk calling that would result in making himself look like a total ass. But seeing her name on the brightly lit screen instantly brought the pretty blonde to mind. She had always been such a kind girl, extremely bright; much too good for Evan. And deep down, both of them had always known it, making it an underlying reason for their breakup. The past couple of times Evan had seen Sara she was with some model handsome blonde guy. There was just something off about that guy, something that gave Evan a weird vibe. The blonde was always looking at Sara as if he would die if he lost her and it just wasn’t right.
Guys weren’t supposed to be sappy and romantic like that; guaranteed he had some hidden agenda. There was no way it would be natural. And his heart went out to Sara, who naively echoed the blonde’s look. There might’ve been a slight part of Evan that was jealous at the fact that he had never gotten a look like that, but his main reason for obsession was concern for his ex. That guy had to be some sort of con, up to something. Evan just plain old didn’t trust him. So now seemed like a perfect time to make a surprise visit to Sara’s. Of course Evan didn’t call – that required too much planning. But the college student grabbed his keys and wallet, heading out the door and to his car. He was at Sara’s in less than fifteen minutes, standing in front of her apartment door a moment later. There was no hesitation as his hand went to knock, not really caring if he was interrupting something. In fact, Evan sort of hoped he was. He wanted to give that blonde guy a piece of his mind if he was here.

THERE WAS A TIME I WAS everything && nothing ALL IN ONE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - No plans. No homework. No rush to do anything. It was just her and the whole day to do whatever she pleased. Good, because she'd most likely either go out on her boat or chill in the large tub for awhile. Most likely the latter. Emerald eyes opened carefully from where she was lounging in her large bed, facing away from the space that only four days ago, had been occupied by the one and only Cade Salvatore. But that just seemed like a distant memory now, that she didn't have physically anymore, just memories and photos of them together. Closing her eyes for a few brief moments, she snuggled deeper into her sheets before realizing she wouldn't be able to return to sleeping, and therefore gave up and proceeded to get up out of bed and heading into her bathroom. Turning on the water to warm, not scalding hot as some people presumed all girls had to do - she liked hers slightly cooler, mainly because it helped remind her of the ocean's surface water and how warm it always was. Slipping into the tub, her phone nearby as it always was, her long legs vanished into the water. Hanging lightly onto the sides of the tub, she giggled as her toes seemed to stretch, so to speak, and give way to the fins at the end of her tail, and then the glittery scales appear. There was some type of slick substance on her tail, as with every mermaid's tail, which caused her to slip through the water easily, but it made it that much harder to stay still in the tub. Tying her blonde hair up into a bun, she closed her eyes quietly, listening to just her breathing, forcing all her worries out of her head. Cade was gone, and she knew the hole in her heart was still there, but she had talked to her parents, and they had told her she could meet them for dinner tonight and take her to her favorite place to eat.
Smiling when she thought about this, a text was received, and she arched an eyebrow when she noticed it was her younger step-sister. Answering it, she grinned, she too was excited about going out to dinner tonight, though she knew the real reason why. Beatriz had told Kyle, her father, though she hadn't known Sara was listening in slightly on their conversation, but she wanted to get Sara back out into the world, maybe try and see if she couldn't find someone else to fill the hole. She doubted it. The mermaid hated to sound rude, but it was true, she didn't think she could forget about Cade for a day - it would take a lot - or just a bunch of energy - to help her forget him for awhile. Rolling onto her side in the tub she'd asked for specifically, due to it being quite large, she drew up her fin, and brushed her fingers along the purple-blue-green scales quietly, as she then finished up her bath, getting out and drying her fins off when she heard someone knocking on the door. What the hell? She wasn't expecting anyone! Scrambling, having been putting on some make-up, the mermaid draped a towel over her fin, and called out, hoping the person would hear it, "Hold on!"
Sara gulped, wondering who it could be. The moment her legs reappeared, she dried herself off completely and grabbed the first thing she'd seen - thankful the day was supposed to be warm - was a black dress with a small red belt around it. Throwing it on and checking herself, she tugged on her hair slightly back into its lazy ponytail. Who could this be? Her heart sprang at the thought of it being Cade, but her logical side stamped out her hopes, telling her he wouldn't come back. He had no intention of it. Hiding the pain, the mermaid smothered it, wanting to know who it was, and due to her rambling thoughts, forgot to check through the peephole as she grinned back to her plethora of fish, "Who is it guys?" she grinned, sliding on her slight black heels that went with this dress, before speaking, "Who is it?" As her hand grasped the knob and she turned it, drawing open the door in the hallway, a light smile on her features, though anyone who even knew the mermaid a bit, could tell the immediate confusion on her face. "Evan?" she inquired, wide-eyed. He was - honestly and she hated to sound mean - the last person she expected to see here, especially without letting her know or something. Tossing the towel she'd dried off with aside, Sara spoke, opening the door slightly, "C-c'mon in." she smiled gently, Evan had been here before, therefore she wasn't nervous about him seeing all the fish, he just didn't know what she was, but she had a feeling he knew there was something. Eying him quietly, well - her ex-boyfriend, she smoothed out her dress slightly and inquired, genuine concern melting onto her features, "Is everything all right?" [/blockquote][/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - this thread template was made by GREEN EGGS AND SAM! of caution 2.0 with lyrics from elton john, it's tagged for kel! & its a total of enough words. you can see what SARA is wearing this thang! It was odd to hear her voice after so long, but it felt completely normal. Such a weird sensation, to know you’ve forgotten how something sounded but having your body respond to it as if nothing had changed. Sara had always had a one of a kind voice, always very sweet and musical, whether or not she tried or even noticed it. Evan didn’t understand how he had forgotten it. He felt stupid, even if he couldn’t be entirely blamed, considering they hadn’t talked in months. The human, regardless, couldn’t keep a smile off his face when he heard her call through the door, even though her voice was muffled. He got the image of her frantically trying to get ready to come open up the door, seeing as how his arrival was unexpected and all. Trying to wait patiently, Evan clasped his hands behind his back and rocked on his feet slightly, looking down the hall. To anyone observing him, he would’ve looked like a young child who was trying his best to behave, trying to be a good little boy so his mommy would buy him a treat later. That was just how Evan was, more childish mannerisms than adult.
It was impossible to miss the surprise on Sara’s face and Evan gave her a slightly devilish smile upon seeing it. He liked knowing that he had surprised her. Knowing he caught people off guard always caused a grin to appear on his face. Evan was a strange one like that. “The one and only,” Evan said in response to Sara saying his name. The devilish grin turned more to a lazy one – still there but not quite as prominent. He opened his arms for a hug as he stepped in towards Sara’s apartment. They were still on friendly terms, so there was nothing wrong with a hug, right? She still smelled the same – like the beach on a nice day. Evan couldn’t really describe it as anything else and he was curious how Sara had always managed that. She spent a lot of time at the beach, out in the water, he knew, but he had never actually gone with her. The blonde had always been weird like that, never letting Evan come with her when she went to the beach or went swimming. It didn’t matter all that much, just an observation the young man had made while they had been dating.
It seemed as if nothing had changed in Sara’s apartment. There were still the fish, as expected, and the whole apartment just gave a homey vibe. Evan wasn’t entirely sure what he had been expecting to be different, but he just thought it might’ve been. “Everything’s okay,” Evan said, with his back to her as he looked around her apartment. Then he turned around so he was facing her. “I was just bored and decided to visit you.” He told most of the truth. Yes, he was bored and yes, that was part of the reason why he had come to visit her. The other part though, the fact that he wanted to check up on her and meet this mysterious guy, wouldn’t be mentioned unless needed. It seemed kind of clingy, really, if Evan thought about it and he didn’t want to give Sara the wrong impression. It was when he turned back around to look at Sara that he actually stopped to look at her, taking in her outfit and overall appearance. She looked nice. Great, actually. Again, Evan wasn’t entirely sure why he had thought any differently. Life went on and all of that jazz, and Sara was doing pretty well.
“Am I interrupting something?” The brunette asked, finally making the connection that, not only did Sara look good, but she was dressed nicely. The kind of nice that people looked when they were getting ready to go on a date. Though he was asking merely because he was curious, not because he felt bad if he was interrupting. He started wondering if he’d meet Sara’s new boyfriend, if that was in fact who she was getting dressed up to see. Honestly, the college student had no clue why he was so obsessed with this idea of meeting the guy who took his place. Yes, he was slightly jealous of the new dude, but not overly so. And it was a normal type of jealous, the kind anyone would feel when they realized that their ex had moved on to someone different. Maybe jealous wasn’t the right word, but Evan didn’t know how else to describe it. Even if you didn’t have those kinds of feelings for that person anymore, it was still strange to see them with someone else. He glanced around Sara’s apartment again, trying to see if he could find pictures of Sara and the new guy together. God, Evan was beginning to sound like the crazy stalker ex. But he wanted to know that, if she had moved on, she was happy. Because if this guy wasn’t treating her right, Evan wouldn’t hesitate to kick his ass. Sara was too good to be stuck with a jerk.

THERE WAS A TIME I WAS everything && nothing ALL IN ONE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sara could hardly believe this. It was coincidence, wasn't it? With Cade just having left no more than a week ago, and here was her most recent ex, Evan right in front of her. A thought crossed her mind as if Cade had somehow gotten Evan's number - out of her phone - and called Evan telling him Sara was single again or something. She personally hoped not. Her relationship with Evan had been wonderful, and she knew that he'd find someone who appreciated him, as Sara had always felt like she was the downer on his mood sometimes, which helped drive the wedge into her decision and their decision to ultimately break-up. At least they were still friends, and Evan always knew how to bring a quick smile to someone's face, even if their day had been horrible, he could make them smile within a minute of seeing him. The mermaid didn't even bother to hesitate, a hug was innocent, wasn't it? She thought so, which was why she happily returned the hug, following suit with him putting his arms out for one when he entered her apartment. Emerald eyes watched some of her fish, especially Nemo the clown fish who was like a dog in a sense and watched the people who entered Sara's apartment. At his comment, she smiled, and added, "Of course. I don't think anyone could be like you Evan. At all."
she flashed a short smile, before gesturing to her kitchen on their right, "Can I get you something to drink?" A look of curiosity could be seen on the girl's features as Evan looked over her apartment, and she pondered briefly what he might be looking for? Something different? She didn't think so, except for some new pictures she'd put up of herself and her step-sister on the houseboat on the coffee table in the center of the living room which also served as the entertainment part. Tucking back her shorter wisps of blonde hair that had escaped the holds of her ponytail holder, she sighed gently that everything was ok. Good, she was afraid she'd have to go and make sure Evan was going to be all right. It wasn't that she'd be jealous of the other girl he may be with - as she knew he could probably get any girl he wanted, Sara was just worried he'd get stuck with a girl who would treat him horribly. That she refused to let happen, and it had become a silent pact between the two that they wouldn't date anyone who didn't treat them how they should be treated. Just one of the many ways Sara and Evan had always gotten along so well, just because they were so laid-back with everything in life. "Wonderful, glad you came." she grinned at the reason why he was here. Sounded a lot like him, the spontaneous guy that Evan was, Sara had always appreciated that about him, as guys always tried to get that spontaneity, but most of the time they failed at copying the spontaneity they witnessed in the teen flicks. Watching him turn back, she perked at his inquiry, and she smiled sheepishly, shaking her head, "No, nothing besides just me wasting the day away, finding things to do." she shrugged lightly, glancing away for a moment as she did so. Deep down she wanted to hang with Evan, but her initial feelings were to spend time with him, see what he had been up to, and to just pass the time with him, it always flew by with Evan, and she figured her stomach got a work out from all the laughing she'd always done. Grinning pearly whites his way, eyes flashed to his hair, a thing she had once teased him lightly about when it had gotten too shaggy that it hung in his eyes a lot. Needless to say Evan was always one to make a crack, and Sara never expected anything less out of him, as Evan always had something good, fun and exciting to say. Sometimes she wondered if he had ever had anything written for him, or if he planned things. Most likely they just came naturally. Pursing her lips slightly, she then inquired, green eyes locking onto his dark ones, wanting to spend time with him - might as well, besides she always had fun with Evan, "Want to go do something?" she inquired, putting it together so it didn't sound like she was asking him on a date. It would just be two good friends exes who happened to be friends still, and besides neither of them had anything to do today, her logical voice reasoned inside her head. Planning this, Sara looked to Evan quietly, figuring, though still hoping he'd say yes, and by do something, could mean anything from playing video games for 30 minutes to walking around town to something else. Something she didn't mind, to help keep her mind busy, and plus she got to hang out with Evan. Evan was glad that Sara hadn’t rejected the hug. There were those who would’ve thought that hugging your ex was in the off limits department, but it luckily seemed as if Sara wasn’t of that mindset. Besides, the brunette always saw her as a friend first, ex second. And it was natural for Evan to hug his friends. Or his friends that were girls, that is. It was a lot more awkward with his guy friends, considering that they always thought they were much too manly to hug another dude. Those typically turned out to be weird half hugs. Even then, he wasn’t one to feel out of place. So if Sara had decided she didn’t want a hug, it might’ve stung a bit at first, but Evan would’ve gotten over it. He was one to bounce back pretty quickly from things, ready to move onto the next. An upside of (probably) having ADHD? Possibly. But it also annoyed some people that Evan couldn’t seem to hold onto an emotion simply because he didn’t have the focus to obsess over something. That was just how he was though. “Good. I’d be worried if you could confuse me with someone else,” Evan said, a big grin on his face.
He followed Sara into the kitchen, walking straight to the table and taking a seat as if he owned the place. And while he obviously didn’t, Evan had been here enough times to almost consider it a second home and was comfortable treating it as such. Though there was a good chance he would’ve done that in any apartment. Act like it was his, that was. The brunette seemed to lack those little social indicators that told what was and what wasn’t appropriate to do in certain situations. Like how to be polite when you are a house guest. He had missed social etiquette 101, which was slightly ironic, considering his mom was Mrs. Manners and had groomed his younger sister to be Miss Manners. Must’ve gone right over Evan’s curly little head, though that wasn’t all that surprising. He didn’t have the attention span to try to learn something he had no interest in. Besides, he’d much rather just act on his own impulses instead of trying to conform to someone else’s idea of perfect. As selfish as it sounded, it was Evan’s happiness first and then everyone else’s’. Or at least it was like that in most situations.
“I’m good,” he replied to Sara’s question of if he’d like something to drink. Eyes scanning the kitchen – because Evan was rather observant for someone who couldn’t focus very long – he spotted what looked like well-worn cooking books stacked on the counter. “Did you take a sudden interest in cooking?” Evan asked, purely curious. When they had been dating, Sara wasn’t much of a cook. Not to say that she never cooked nor was she bad when she did, but it just seemed to not be an activity she enjoyed. Cookbooks just seemed out of place in her kitchen. Nothing else looked strange, and the young man was distracted from his investigation anyway by Sara saying that she was glad he came. Evan could keep the grin off his face, happy that Sara actually welcomed his presence instead of trying to figure out how she could get rid of him and as quickly as possible too. “Thought you might be doing something. Looked dressed to go out,” Evan commented, once again glancing at Sara. She really did look like she was getting ready to go out on a date or something. Then again, she had always been extremely stylish and Evan wasn’t all that surprised that she had just viewed that as a normal outfit. He honestly had no clue; there was absolutely no fashion sense residing in that brain of his. His eyes met Sara’s as she glanced his way and he was slightly caught off-guard by the color of them. Evan had known that she had green eyes, but had forgotten just how dazzling the color was. His attention momentarily distracted by her eyes, he didn’t hear Sara ask her question. A moment or two passed as he tried to piece together the words he had actually heard to figure out what she was asking, and then he was able to answer. “Of course,” he said in a tone that suggested he was offended for her having to ask if he wanted to do something. Evan was always looking for some sort of activity to occupy his mind with. It would be un-Evan like for him to want anything different. Though there had been a slight hesitation before answering, even after the few seconds he took to figure out what she was saying. It was probably one of the few times the kid ever thought anything through. The thought of the blonde guy Evan had seen Sara with came to his mind and Evan found himself wondering if that guy was the jealous type and if he’d get angry at the idea of his girlfriend hanging out with him. It only lasted for about a half a second before Evan completely forgot about it. “You choose what to do.” He was so out of ideas that it wasn't even funny.

THERE WAS A TIME I WAS everything && nothing ALL IN ONE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A smile fell onto the mermaid's features when Evan hugged her. It was the familiar sense of knowing that Evan would be there for her if she ever needed him. He was like a big brother to her, a good friend. A friend she knew she never wanted to lose. Tilting her head slightly in his direction at his comment, the blonde shook her head smoothly, smiling sheepishly towards the darker-colored hair male, "Well, as far as I know you don't have an identical twin, do you?"
she smiled softly, as she followed his movements, curious as to what he was going to be doing. Emerald eyes landed on Nemo, her most "active" fish who liked to watch people where he could see them from the massive tank, he followed Sara as she moved along the fish tank, a finger barely brushing the glass on the tank. Nemo happily and earnestly followed her finger, drawing attention from a few other fish as well, who approached the glass more. Sara laughed lightly, and wiggled her fingers towards them, her "mermaid" voice she liked to call it, where she painted over it slightly, her natural sing-song voice with a bit more of her mermaid version, "You're all so cute." she grinned like a child at a candy store as she turned, some of the fish returning to doing what ever they were doing, as Nemo seemed to be intent on watching her and Evan. Noticing him sit down at the island in her kitchen, Sara approached it, leaning on the island, setting her elbows neatly onto it as she listened to him speak, declining her offer on a drink. Nodding, she vividly remembered the first time she had asked Cade for a drink, and what had happened. It had spilled, hit her legs, and she had transformed in front of Cade right then and there. Embarrassing if you asked her. At his question though, the blonde frowned slightly, and she felt her nerves go haywire as she turned to see Cade's cooking books he'd brought over. Her stomach churned and she could feel herself turn green slightly, not from envy or anything just her stomach not being happy upon realizing those were so out in the open for everyone to see - especially Evan. God knew him of all people would be the one to insist on her telling whose those were. Swallowing back the anxiety, Sara tucked some hair behind her ear and she answered after a moment, "Umm...no, not really." eyes searched frantically, she didn't want to give him a straight answer. Turning to the books to get her attention divided, her hand fell onto one, and she felt a slight shiver go down her spine. Cade had been the one to touch these last - now he was half-way across the world. Gathering up the books, she set them up nice and neat and she added, "They're....Cade's." she whispered his name slightly, putting in the "they're" mainly because she wasn't sure whether or not to use the present-tense or the past tense. Closing her eyes for a moment, glad her back was to Evan for the brief moment, Sara took it to gather herself. Evan was here. He could make her smile and laugh, hopefully to get her mind occupied. Personally she was glad he had come, or else she probably would have gone out to her boat for the next week and not even bother going to class. Then most likely, Owen, Cade's friend would have gotten worried. God knew he, like Cade would worry and fuss over it till he got a hold of her. Grinning softly, she wondered about Evan, before stamping that out. He most likely had a girlfriend, Sara knew he could probably get any girl he wanted, and she just hoped she could keep up with him, and treat him like he should be. Spinning back to the human male - unless he was good at hiding his supernatural side, the mermaid smiled softly and mused, "Oh, um...no, not really." Sara gushed innocently, toying with the bottom of her dress for a moment, "I literally threw it on...when you got here." she laughed lightly, as she then approached the island where Evan was once more, knowing he could use being a guy as an excuse. She wouldn't push, as she brushed her horrible bangs aside then shook her head at his tone of voice as he answered if he wanted to do anything. Smiling coyly, the mermaid then mused, "I'll go grab my purse." she slid on a pair of flats as she did, pausing for a brief moment when her eyes landed on a photo of her and Cade on a Ferris Wheel, the second time she'd ever been on one in her life, which was sitting neatly on the coffee table. Hoping Evan didn't see that as she went to fetch her purse, Sara's eyes fell outside for a moment. Good, the weather seemed to be agreeing with her mood. Warm with a soft breeze, but slightly over-cast, at least the sun came out once in awhile. Returning out to her living room and open area, Sara arched an eyebrow lightly, "I say let's head out, games can be held for when it's dark out." She then worked the rubber band out of her hair and put it around her wrist, letting her hair fall out of the band and around to below her shoulders where it rested now, even wavy. Smiling shyly, the mermaid then mused, "I'm sure we can find something to do out on the town. There's everything to do, I'm sure." she beamed, before then tugged on Evan's arm, practically dragging him out of her apartment as she then closed the door, and locked it before tucking her keys back into the matching black purse. Turning back around, she gave him a playful look, as if she were planning something and she wasn't going to reveal it to him till it was too late for him to react. Flashing a sheepish grin towards the curly-haired friend, Sara spoke, "I won't make all the decisions, you need to make a few, please?" she eyed him gently, knowing that she didn't want to completely control his day, as she would be perfectly fine just walking around with him - maybe even head to the beach sometime, check out the digs going on there. Emerald eyes flashed at the thought of being close to the water, before looking back to the male, well - looking up to him as he was taller than her by a good few inches, "I think there's a bonfire going on tonight we can probably stop by..." she mused, throwing out suggestions for them. Knowing Evan, he'd easily be able to find something for them to do. Sara really did have a gorgeous smile. One of those that could literally light up a room. Evan hadn’t realized how much he had missed seeing that smile and he wondered why it had taken him so long to come over again. He figured it was just because he got busy and distracted. Just because he had the best intentions to do something didn’t mean it’d actually play out. That was just how his life ran, he guessed, but it sometimes really bothered him. Or at least it did if he thought about it, but that wasn’t often for very long. The human could see how people got upset with him when he decided to actually care about that. “No twin.” Just the idea of that possibility caused Evan to smile. “My mom wouldn’t have been able to handle two of me. She had enough problems with just one.” No, there was no way Mrs. Wells could’ve dealt with another child like Evan. She would’ve gone insane and killed one or both. She had barely hung on with just Evan and she took every opportunity she could to remind him how much of a problem child he was. It wasn’t that Mrs. Wells hated her child, it was just that when she got frustrated, she tended to focus on how she had never wanted children, especially a problem one.
His brown eyes followed Sara as she headed over to her tank of fish. It really was quite odd, the relationship she had with her fish. To everyone else, they were just fish; something that swam around in a bowl of water that was enjoyable to watch (for those who had the attention span to do so, that was) and required feeing every day. Kind of boring, if you got right down to it. But not for Sara. It was as if they were cats or dogs or some other stereotypical “snuggly” animal, what have you. She treated them like you would a normal pet, even going as far as talking to them like they could understand. And maybe they could – it seemed as if they certainly responded to her and that sing song voice she used. It was one of her quirks, Evan figured, and one of the things that he found so fascinating about her. “Having a nice conversation over there?” he asked, though not in a mean sort of way. It was just what had popped into his head and he said it without thinking. There was absolutely no mind to mouth filter on this kid. He offended some people being like that, but the people who actually knew him typically understood that he didn’t purposely offend anyone. It was too much work, really, to be intentionally nasty so Evan just wasn’t.
Again, Evan’s eyes followed Sara as she walked back towards him and leaned against the island. It was such a familiar scene and he had a slight nostalgic flashback. He felt comfortable here, like this. Though it was very obvious that something he had said had the opposite effect on Sara. Her eyes were jumping from place to place, not settling on anything and it was a few moments before she talked. And even when the blonde did, it was very hesitant, like she was trying to avoid something or put it off somehow. But then Sara told him a name and Evan focused instantly on it. “Cade?” he questioned, all his attention for once fixated on a single thing. Probably one of the few times it’d ever happen in his lifetime. But the name was bringing feelings of anger with it. Something happened between that Cade guy and Sara, or she would seem so upset. “Sara, what’s wrong?” Evan asked, staying where he was seated at the island in case Sara didn’t want him close to her while she tried to work through whatever emotions were flooding her right now. His deep brown eyes showed all the concern he was directing Sara’s way.
But back onto a happier note, like Sara had shoved whatever was causing her to get saddened away as if it didn’t exist. That couldn’t be healthy, but Evan didn’t push. He wasn’t going to make Sara talk if she didn’t want to; it wasn’t in his nature. So instead, he went along with her sudden mood change as if nothing had happened. He smiled at her comment about her outfit, figuring a lot of girls said they just threw something on when it had really taken hours to plan out exactly what they wanted to wear in order to impress someone. Not with Sara though – she rarely lied. Evan couldn’t even think of one instance where she had. So he just waited – as patiently as possible for him – while Sara got ready to leave. Once more, he looked around the apartment, mostly because he had nothing better to do while waiting. Not that he even had to wait that long until Sara reappeared, ready to go. She had never been one to take an hour and a half to make sure her hair was perfectly perfect or her make up just right; she always seemed to be the girl ready to go out and do something.
“I agree. The weather is much too nice to be stuck in doors,” Evan said, allowing himself to be dragged by Sara to the door, not that he required much prodding to leave. He linked his arm with hers in a friendly sort of gesture, very lightly in case she wanted to remove her arm from his. “You’re asking me to make decisions?” The brunette moaned, acting like a small child about ready to throw a fit. “We know just how bad I am with things like that.” He was probably one of the most indecisive people on the face of the planet. He tipped his head up to glance towards the ceiling, pretending to be considering things to do while really just trying to figure out a way to get out of making the decision. It wasn’t that Evan minded; his mind didn’t focus on things it didn’t want to. He was quickly distracted by her mention of a bonfire, a crooked smile finding its way to his features. “Let’s check that out later,” he suggested, knowing that it would probably be the best he could come up with.

THERE WAS A TIME I WAS everything && nothing ALL IN ONE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The mermaid could only imagine what it had to have been like to raise Evan from being an infant up till he moved out of the house for college. She knew she had her patience, but not everyone did, being a mother took a lot of it, and she did wonder how his mother handled it. Upon the human's explanation, the blonde couldn't help but smile slightly at the comments. She could envision his mother getting by pretty much most of the time, though she did get curious to how she coped with it if it ever proved a bit too much for the woman. Then again, probably raising any child could push a woman to a brink, Sara didn't know - she hadn't had any children - yet. Her eyes flashed when she thought of her future, what it held. What would happen. What she would do. Most importantly, who would be in it. Would Cade be? So far that outcome didnt seem likely, Evan? She could see that as long as neither she nor him didn't move when they graduated college. Maybe Evan would, she wasn't entirely sure what his plans would be once that happened. Realizing she'd only nodded slightly about the comment on his mother and not wanting to appear rude, the blonde mused, "I don't think she did a bad job raising you."
she flashed a short-lived smile, as her thoughts had traveled back to Cade with the mention of the cook books he had left here. Most likely for her, but they were just a physical reminder that he was real and that the other blonde had been here before. Now they would never be touched by his hands again - maybe by hers when she moved them, but Sara refused to open them, they were Cade's, and there was a sense of immortality with those books. He would continue to stay this way, she'd grow up, change, maybe have kids, and she realized then she was getting way off track and quickly reeled herself in - no pun intended - back to reality to pay attention to Evan, knowing if she didn't catch something, she would regret it instantly. "Yeah, Nemo says hi." she grinned lightly back at his comment on her talking to her fish. Oh, if only Evan knew. Allowing a slight grimace to fall on her features, she shook her head for a moment at his inquiry. That was what was so refreshing about Evan, he was so carefree a lot, but when it did get right down to it, he really came through, especially when it came to other people. Another reason why Sara had been drawn to the man. "I...I'll, it's nothing." Emerald eyes glanced away for a few moments before she fixed them back on their path in the hallway after having locked the door to her apartment, not wanting to leave it unlocked - ever. A light laugh then did escape her lips as they managed to exit her apartment building when he groaned about making the decision. Wriggling her arm in his playfully, Sara spoke, smiling, "What if it happened to be a life or death situation?" she squeezed his arm gently, "Not that I'm saying this is one but...could you make one then?" she teased ever so lightly, before winking his direction and shifting her gaze from Evan to around them and in front of them to make sure neither she nor he hit something or someone, plus to be able to see what else was out here for them to do. The bonfire would wait till later then, she was definitely excited for that. She'd just need to stay and make sure that she didn't get too close to the water. That had happened once before, she'd gotten tossed into the water and had to swim to the dock where her houseboat was docked and get onto that, dry off and walk back to her car near the beach before getting home. That hadn't been all that fun. This time though, Evan was with her. That just proved more difficult. With Cade, it was easy. He was a supernatural like her, and therefore she had a bit more "leverage" with Cade so to speak than with Evan. She could trust him, and Sara did, but with that? Her logical mind told her no, because he was human, but nevertheless her emotional mind was beginning to win, as it always tended to do. She had always wanted to tell Evan, to show him what world he could experience only if he were subjected to it. But she didn't want to ruin his "innocence" of the supernatural, and she had hinted at it over the course of their relationship, just to test the waters - no pun intended either - about what Evan would think of supernaturals such as mermaids or faeries, vampires and more. Emerald eyes blinked in surprise when she noticed some people heading their way, recognizing them from college, they were passing out flyers, as there was an outdoor concert beginning soon. Shrugging, Sara looked to Evan, "What do you think?" Meaning she wanted to go, at least check it out, therefore Evan wouldn't need to make the decision. Who knew, maybe she would even dare to show him her houseboat, though she planned on keeping it docked, she didn't want to have to worry about hurting Evan, or exposing him to something he didn't want to know about. Pausing, the mermaid glanced nervously towards the male, before speaking, looking away, "Cade is...was...is.." she sighed, unable to decide on the tense, though continued, "My boyfriend..or ex. It's just..." she picked her words carefully, she couldn't tell Evan the exact reason why what had happened, happened, so she just went with what happened at least, "Those books were his...he left them there though, at my place when he left." she swallowed back the emotions, knowing they would make themselves present sooner or later, as she remained close to Evan, knowing that there would be support, but he was just a good friend, and he had asked, so she didn't see too much wrong with that, is there?
