Right now was a beautiful time of day, one of Cade’s favorite. Night, if you really wanted to be technical. Twilight. The sky was just getting dark, stars beginning to appear like the world’s brightest diamonds. At just a quick glance, the sky looked black and many would be content to just leave it at that observation. Caden, though, couldn’t keep his eyes off the sky. They explored every visible bit of it, noting the deep blue, alluring purples, the velvet black that was just beginning to appear. It was really beautiful. If Cade were more of the artistic and creative type, he might’ve felt the inspiration to write a poem or something. But his talent ended with playing the guitar and singing things that others wrote, though it never bothered the fallen angel all that much. He had never wanted to be good at that kind of sissy thing anyway. No, Cade would be so much more content to just lie back in the lush green grass and finish watching the sky make its final transformation to actual darkness.
That just wouldn’t do, not right now. Cade was in the middle of a bet, one he was sure he was going to win. His gaze landed on the haunted house in front of him before turning around to yell to his companion. “Keepin’ up, baby?”He tossed nonchalantly over his shoulder, a smirk tugging lightly at his lips. The term ‘baby’ wasn’t meant to be taken as a nickname from a boyfriend to a girlfriend. Alexandra and Cade weren’t like that. It was more like something an older brother would call his sister, following along the lines of ‘you crybaby’. Cade couldn’t help but mercilessly pick on the young witch, knowing that, not only would she take it, but dish it back with twice the strength. “From how far you’re lagging, I’m beginning to think you might chicken out on me. Thought you were tougher than that.”
The fallen angel faced the house again, pausing as he stared at it and waited for Alex to catch up. This whole dare thing was stupid, simple teasing that had gotten out of hand. Honestly, there was nothing that scary about the supposedly haunted house. All it had going for it was a few rumors that were started by humans and were only believed by humans. And yet, here Caden found himself, acting like the immature teenager that he wasn’t. One would think that he’d be more like an old geezer, though it seemed as if his maturity stopped growing the moment Cade stopped aging. Or the moment he died, whichever you chose to view it as. But for some reason, the witch always brought out the most puerile side of the fallen angel. It had all started with the two of them poking fun at one another, which somehow escalated into the courage of both individuals. One of them – Cade couldn’t even remember if it had been him or Alex who had suggest it – decided that the best way to test it would be to go venture into a not so haunted house.
Entirely thoughtless, though the blonde couldn’t keep the smile off his face. Even if this whole trip turned out to be nothing but a bust, at least it was interesting. The young man turned to see if Alex was still following and, deciding that she was close enough, began his journey towards the house again. He wasn’t scared, not in the least sense, but still couldn’t help but picture zombies hiding in the dark spaces his eyes couldn’t quite make out. That’s what he got for playing his Xbox for a much longer time than considered healthy. His hands itched for the control that fit so well in them as his eyes searched for two glowing points of yellow light that would be sure to give away a zombie. Last time Cade had checked, there was no such thing as zombies, but there were all other sorts of things that went bump in the night. Who was to say that they couldn’t exist?
The whole line of thought was ridiculous. No creatures of the half-decayed, living dead variety would meet up with the two tonight. Cade sprinted back to Alex, finding the feeling of the wind blowing through his blonde hair absolutely amazing. He slowed down as he got closer to the young female, walking beside her once he reached her. “Not having second thoughts, are we? If so, I will never be able to respect you again,” Caden teased, pulling at a lock of Alexandra’s hair, much like an annoying younger brother. That one action basically defined their friendship.

Twilight, the initial thought to most girls around her age was immediately Edward Cullen and Jacob Black, the two hunks in the horrible book and movie series. Twilight though to her, was this time, the time between day and knight, where she felt the most powerful as well. The shift between two things, and she giggled slightly, her bright purple eyes crinkling slightly at her giggle. It was nice to think about, though as the sun began to set, the temperature began to slightly drop as well. It didn't bother her, and she was sure it didn't bother the troublesome blonde in front of her. To be honest, she wasn't sure why she was lagging behind the fallen angel, the blonde whose hair - unlike hers - always stayed blonde. Right now her hair was like a mixture of light brown and blonde, so what-ever, but at least it wasn't that dirty dishwater blonde. She hated that name. Eyes narrowed slightly towards their destination, feeling that the on the whim dare shouldn't have happened. Her senses were going on over-load. Most witches were always like this around places believed to be haunted, unless they really were. Wrinkling her nose, she muttered something, before then hearing the blonde call back to her. Giving him a sharp look at the back of his head, she then smirked coyly, and flicked her fingers, causing some vines to begin to ascend towards him. Oh, she'd get him, she'd just bide her time and wait for the opportune moment.
At least she wasn't wearing heels. With the young fallen angel - well - in appearance wise, it was always hard to tell what he had in mind for them when they hung out. Most of the time they always agreed on stuff though, which was nice, like games and what-not. She perked once more when he spoke, and she snapped, the malice in her voice only going along to match his own, "Maybe because I want you to get eaten first."
she grinned deviously, eyes landing on the house as they then got much closer. Yeah, there was definitely something about this house that was making her witch senses go on over-load. Her mind drifted slightly as she worked her way up the hill and paused as it leveled out, watching Cade pause. Nibbling her bottom lip, the blonde then pressed on, heading to catch up to him. Honestly, why the hell were they here? She'd never admit to Cade that she was getting the willies from this place, never ever. Besides, if she did, there would be definitely some consequences for both of them, though mostly him. She'd find a way to make him pay - either with or without using magic. Nonetheless, Alex was quite good at picking out details and nit-picky things, a skill she noticed pretty much all the witches had. A scowl knitted her brows together slightly when Cade rushed back to her, feeling the wind ruffle her hair slightly, that was left down today, as he came up to her side, she remained silent, shooting him a death glare the moment he spoke. Course when he tugged on her hair, she yelped and playfully shoved him, their relationship nothing but that, friendship like brother and sister. "Mooooom!" she whined playfully, as if they were in a car on a road trip with the family, "Tell Cade to stop picking on me!" she grinned innocently towards him, before she flicked her fingers casually, causing the vines that had been tailing around her, to shoot themselves around Cade's ankles, binding them together. Laughing happily, Alex shot off ahead a good fifteen feet or so, before turning back to Cade, a plain look of triumph on her features, "Let's go Cade, we might miss everything that goes on in the house. Slow-poke." she teased, before tossing her hair over her shoulder as she approached the porch. The hair on the back of her neck stood up, though she refused to let the fallen angel see that. To her, it didn't matter whether or not he was an angel or not. Personally she was quite glad he wasn't, or he'd probably be dead-set on protecting her, instead of exploring a supposedly haunted house with her. Giving him a light nudge, she then walked up the porch steps, eying him quietly, "Want me to knock?" she grinned. In some ways, she was partially excited to explore here, since she really hadn't been here before. Having Cade here was just an extra bonus. i believe i told some lies / kel!. im holding onto all i had / idk the words. i believe in butterflies / done. go to hell some other day / click!. saying sorry for when i was bad / heh, hope it's all right. <33. trust me itll be ok REAL SLIM SHADY !? As stupid as this whole adventure was to being with, Cade was glad it was happening. There wasn’t much else he could thing of doing tonight, not when he was on his way to the haunted house. Spontaneity was the spice of life. Hearing Alex’s comment, Caden couldn’t help but to turn, a hand over his heart and a pout on his handsome face. “That hurts, Alex,” he half whined, like he was offended by the fact that Alex would prefer he got eaten first. Then he dropped his hand and a bright smirk replaced the pout. “But I’d like to point out a flaw in your logic, m’dear. I am much too handsome to even think about eating and my muscles are much too tough.” Yes, the blonde was vain. Extremely vain, beyond the valley of acceptable vainness. He had had almost a hundred years to perfect that personality trait and it probably didn’t help that there were enough people who were quick to tell him such. Had it been anyone but Alex though, Cade probably wouldn’t have played it up so much, because he didn’t like to make people hate him. Alexandra, though, would probably just call him stupid and shake her head. She was used to him.
The death glare that Cade was given by Alexandra was just too much. His lips twitched in a smile and a small chuckle escaped his mouth. She was much more powerful than Cade liked to tell himself. It was so much easier to just picture Alex as a regular girl and the glare looked ridiculous in that context. But Alex was a witch, one with much more powers than Cade could ever hope for. Even though he should be afraid, Cade just couldn’t take Alex seriously. “You’re such a tattle tale!” Caden complained, matching Alex’s tone. They really could’ve been siblings, despite the fact that they didn’t like all that similar. Two siblings who looked so very different that people were surprised when they found out they were related. Step-siblings maybe. Caden opened his mouth to shoot off some other sarcastic comment when he felt something wrap around his ankles and he fell – rather ungracefully – on his ass, the words that Cade had meant to say rushing out of him in a big rush of air instead. A startled look settled over Cade’s features, making him look ten years younger than he really was and all Cade could be glad of was the fact that his back was to Alex. After collecting himself, the fallen angel clawed at the vines, getting them off his ankles as quickly as possible.
“That was a dirty trick, you witch!” Cade called before sprinting after the blonde. He was on the porch behind Alex in a matter of moments, the sprint really nothing more than a warm up to Caden. He sounded angry and slightly betrayed, though he felt neither of those. Cade had been able to perfect the talent of conveying emotions in his voice, regardless of whether he felt it or not. The fallen angel would make a rather good actor, if he ever felt the need to pursue it. Caden, surprisingly, didn’t want all that attention on himself. Mostly because, who know how long he’d continue to roam this earth, unchanging? He was in the same boat as the Immortals here; Caden didn’t age. He’d forever look twenty two, which could rise some questions had anyone ever questioned it. But other than that little setback, Cade would be perfect for the job. He was already self-absorbed enough. The fallen angel lightly pushed Alex, a smile on his face. “Afraid?” What was Alex hoping for? That if they knocked and no one answered, they’d turn around? Definitely not. Not after they made it all the way out here. Alex couldn’t chicken out now. The witch must have known that, if she did, the fallen angel would never let her live it down.
Cade leaned around Alex, laying his hand on the cold handle of the door and twisting it. The door opened with very little resistance and a creaking noise that would give any Hollywood sound effect a run for its money. He stood in the doorway, one foot in the house, the other still on the porch, his arm holding the door wide open. It was much darker in there than Cade had expected and he found himself wishing that he had thought ahead enough to bring a flashlight. Wait, thinking ahead? Not Caden. With a lopsided grin on his face, the blonde looked back at his companion. “I’d say ‘ladies first’, but there’d actually have to be a lady here for that to apply.” With that, Cade stepped into the house, not looking back. “You coming or not, scaredy cat?”

There were many people, Alex knew, who tried to pull off all the looks that they could. The infamous pout, one she liked to think she had a decent grasp on, though when she saw it on Cade's face, she thought, what kind of emotion couldn't he portray? He had decades more of experience than her, which she'd probably never have, unless she got this new potion available only to witches, that was supposed to make one immortal if taken every year. Personally she believed it, but then again she didn't. It meant she wouldn't be able to hang out with Cade as much, despite them acting like they hated each other ninety-eight percent of the time. The other two percent, they were doing something that occupied their time. Shooting the blonde guy a short look, Alex heard him speak, and the pout, then going as far as to mention his muscles. Grinning deviously, Alexandra answered, "Yeah, you're probably right, but you keep forgetting those zombies, they'll eat anything, like hogs."
She wouldn't say where she knew that, but being her species, she knew random facts about things, such as voodoo. "It's quite easy, darling, to make you appear thinner with a flick of my hand. But you see, I'd never do that, I'm way too nice." she teased, playfully tossing her hair, as if to drive home her point the moment she heard Cade fall, and she took off, laughing all the way. Excellent, she'd gotten him back. Tossing a playful smirk over her shoulder, she spoke, "I have a feeling our parents would have dropped us off on the side of the road by now." It was probably true to an extent, or at least pull over and have at it. Maybe moving one to the back or something. She remembered her parents doing that if she and Wren should happen to be fighting or not. Alex responded to him calling her witch, which in all truth, didn't offend her the least, odd enough, "You know it handsome!" she teased, as she stepped up fully onto the porch, as Cade soon caught up with her. His speed, she'd forgotten about that, probably most of the reason why he was ahead of her most of the way. Maybe she should just get something or someone to carry her next time, a little persuasion potion could help with that. Purple eyes darkened when he taunted her, though a light smile couldn't stop from forming on her lips, as she then mused, "In your dreams." she flashed a devious grin, as she stepped into the door-way shortly after Cade went in, and glared at his back at his comment, "Oh really? I'm not a lady? Then if I walked around here without a shirt on, no one would say anything or call out?" she flashed a coy grin at him, as the blonde then flicked her hand, causing the door to creak shut once more. She'd admit, she wasn't scared, she just got the feeling they weren't alone, like there really was someone here. Pausing, her eyes locked onto a slight shadow. Tense, Alex suddenly grabbed onto Cade's arm, and spoke, "A shadow just moved up the stairs into the hall way." Damn her keen vision. Alex shook it off, and released Cade's arm, and wiping her hand off as if he was covered in something. She gave him a look, "Don't mess with a witch when she's in a territory where she gets good vibes from." she teased, even if it was the opposite, she refused to let Cade see it. Nevertheless, Alex poked around in the living room, pausing and leaning down slightly to look at some older photos, obviously dating back quite a bit, since they were black and white. Some of the other ones, they weren't smiling in them, and their dress gave it away too. Alex glanced back to Cade, feeling the - oddness of the house fill her, and she inhaled slowly, before looking up as she spotted a moderately large spider overhead. Arching an eyebrow, she cooed softly, before she then reached up, before glancing to Cade, as the spider then descended onto her hand delicately, and just - relaxed. Eying it, she mused, "You've been here for awhile, haven't you?" Whether or not she worried if Cade knew the spider did answer her, with emotions and such, she approached a shattered window and set the spider down, before eying Cade as it vanished, "You first, madam...the basement, around here or upstairs?" she flashed a coy grin, approaching Cade and poking his arm, "Boo." i believe i told some lies / kel!. im holding onto all i had / idk the words. i believe in butterflies / done. go to hell some other day / click!. saying sorry for when i was bad / cute moment = now. XD hehe. <33 i love these two. . trust me itll be ok REAL SLIM SHADY !? @ caution 2.0. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Alex would know random facts about zombies. She just seemed to have these little facts tucked away for moments like these. Now how she knew Cade was thinking about zombies, that was another story. Again, Cade blamed it on her witch blood. It seemed as if all the supernatural had small quirks that came in handy. The blonde had gotten the raw end of the deal, being a fallen angel and all. Or maybe it came from the fact that he had been human to begin with. The only thing that Caden could lay claim to was the fact that he couldn’t be killed easily. How exciting, especially considering that he had already died once. Regardless, death by zombies didn’t seem like all that pleasant of a way to go, mostly because he probably wouldn’t die anyway. “I think you’re forgetting, my sweet Alex.” A roguish smile appeared on Cade’s face as he called the witch that. Like she was anything sweet. Sweet, in the fallen angel’s mind, implied someone who was fragile and quiet. In his time, it had been said with the intentions of making said sweet girl blush. Alexandra was neither fragile nor quiet, which was why the nickname had caused him to smile. “That zombies aren’t particularly partial to fast food. They’d have to catch me first.” He didn’t plan on becoming zombie chow. There shouldn’t even be zombies here, so there was no need to worry.
Pity to those who had children that acted like Alex and Cade. He was sure there were parents out there, ones who were saints for having the patience to not murder their children. And there were probably parents that had to deal with worse. The fallen angel couldn’t imagine having children like he and Alex. “At the very least,” Cade agreed. An image of Alex and he being put into a box with ‘free’ written on it like unwanted kittens popped into his mind. Very Oliver and Company-esque. Yes, he had watched Disney movies, even though he was much too old for them. A smirk spread across his features as he thought about how moody Alexandra would be if they were stuck in a soaking cardboard box together. Maybe they’d have to try it sometime. On a dare, of course. Always on a dare. “I’m so glad that you agree,” the blonde commented, though he was sure that Alex hadn’t meant handsome as a compliment. He’d take whatever he could get; Cade wasn’t all that picky.
At Alex’s remark of whether or not she was a lady, Cade stopped in midstep and turned so he was facing her. They were much closer than he had thought, which only helped Cade decided what to do next. The blonde stooped slightly, so he was closer to eye level with the witch. Their faces were close, almost kiss close. “If you were to walk around without a shirt on, I think it’d be for my benefit and not to prove your point. So if you’d like to do so, feel free.” He was suggesting that there was some sort of romantic feeling between the two when there was nothing in slightly related to that. At least, Cade didn’t think there was. He pulled back, a smile on his face to show that he had been joking. “Besides, no proper lady would go in public without a shirt, and those are the only kind I hold doors open for.” He was glad that he had stepped back out of the doorway, seeing as how Alex quickly slammed it shut. No sense in losing a finger or two, something Alex would no doubt enjoy. Well, maybe not the finger losing part, but the Cade in pain part.
Cade’s whole body stiffened when Alex grabbed his arm. He wasn’t scared, wasn’t expecting anything to jump out and scare the living bejeezus out of the two. So when Alex got jumpy, he was worried that he might’ve missed something, that the two had stumbled into something that was actually dangerous, like a thirsty vampire or pissed off shifter. Because as much as Caden teased her, Alexandra wasn’t a complete scaredy cat. But when Alex mentioned that it was a shadow, Cade let out a full laugh. “Oh, poor Baby Alex!” he crooned, acting as if he were speaking to a toddler rather than a full grown adult. “Did the big bad shadow scare you? Don’t cry now!” As Alex walked over to the living room, Cade headed to the base of the stairs and looked up, trying to find the shadow that Alex had seen. Finding nothing, he walked back over to the witch as she talked to something in her hand. What the hell? Caden shook his head and then looked to Alex as she asked him a question. “Why thank you, kind sir, for giving me the choice,” the blonde said in a falsetto, grabbing the air around his legs as if it were a skirt and executing a very sloppy curtsy. If he were going to be referred to as madam, then he’d play it up. “Let’s go to the basement first.” He figured that that would be the scarier portion of the house, and if they could get through that, then the rest of it would be a piece of cake.

Allowing a toying smile to fall along her features, the witch began to flick her fingers, working up this spell. She was beginning to call on the spirits that lingered in this house - if there happened to be any. Pausing, she crouched down and gently touched the floor, and muttered a spell, before gasping and jumping up, "One of the spirits here...is still really ticked."
her eyes flashed in the emotions and pain she witnessed from that brief spell. Something she regretted doing. Shaking it off, Alex wasn't easy to shake up, but that man...he was quite vile. Wrinkling her nose, she then shot Cade a look and found a quick hole in that logic, and sniped back, wagging a playful finger his way, "Well, who was it that fell flat on their butt on the way up here with vines around their ankles, hm? Besides, all I need to do is out-run you." she teased, throwing a playful and both devious wink towards the blonde. Sometimes she wondered, if when they got older and met up, like in their nursing home or something, if they'd still act like this. Well, more like Cade coming to visit her if she didn't get a hand on that spell she knew to be able to make herself immortal. Alex wasn't sure if she'd do that though, too many risks. At least to do it on herself. Though if she got someone else to do it...thinking of that, she barely realized Cade had started moving again. That was the second when Alex realized he was right in her face. Lifting her hands to begin the process of pushing him away, her hands landed on his chest and stopped when he spoke, a look of annoyance sparking on her features, before she painted an innocent smile on her lips for Cade. Just because she could. Tilting her head, she spoke, "Well...maybe I might..." She then shoved him with all her strength, though she knew if he wanted, he wouldn't move an inch if he wanted to. After all, if she didn't put a spell on herself to make herself stronger, Cade could easily remain budged. She arched an eyebrow at his comment, "Really? So you're going to tell me, that you wouldn't sleep with a girl if she was half-naked and then say, at a party approached you?" that she found extremely hard to believe. Placing her hands on her hips, Alex added, "Don't make me conjure something up to carry your butt out of here, Cade." Course as he brought up her being scared of the shadow, Alex remained silent, listening intently to the "whispers" of the house, so to speak. One thing she had a knack for, was just a sixth sense to things, like a psychic had. That also meant she could see and feel weird things too, another reason why she was hesitant about entering here, but she wasn't about to let Cade see her being as uneasy as she really was. Grinding her teeth together and biting her tongue to keep back a nasty retort, she growled, "You wouldn't be saying that if there really was something up there, which I think there is." It was true. She wouldn't lie. They definitely weren't alone in this house, and she didn't just mean the weird spirits either. Shoving Cade towards the door which led to the basement, Alex shrugged, "My pleasure, darling." she teased, before rolling her shoulders ever so slightly, and toying with the gems on her necklace, which was tucked and resting neatly against her dress-top - what-ever you wanted to call it. Scratching at her leg through her legging, Alex then frowned and looked over her shoulder, as she then muttered a quick spell, and allowed her to see things that humans normally couldn't. Suddenly, she spotted a woman, probably in her twenties peering at her from around the corner, and she whispered something Alex barely caught, before vanishing. Raising her hand slightly to try and call out to her, the witch stopped as Cade had began to descend the stairs. Reluctantly, she followed. Heading down the basement with him, Alex toyed with his hair ever so gently, like her fingers were a spider in his hair, nonchalantly just there, looking around his mass of blonde hair. Grinning coyly, Alex then plucked up a random lighter, and muttered something, before sparking it, and lighting it, offering it to Cade to give them some light instead of just the faint light they had from the moon outside. Frowning, Alex spoke, "What do you thinks down here? Rats?" she grinned, eying Cade curiously, waiting for him to try and do something. i believe i told some lies / kel!. im holding onto all i had / idk the words. i believe in butterflies / done. go to hell some other day / click!. saying sorry for when i was bad / XD ah, i can't wait to rp him and sara. <33. trust me itll be ok REAL SLIM SHADY !? Cade honestly didn’t know that talking to spirits had been a talent of Alex’s. Of course, she was a witch; there were very few things they couldn’t do. They were all full of surprises, or at least in Cade’s opinion. To be fair, he hadn’t met too many witches in his life time. There was Alex, and then a family of witches in Italy that he had met through Christian. And the family he hadn’t spent too much time around, simply because the visit was only to last for a couple of days while Cade was in the process of trying to get his newest fake birth certificate and the works in order. It had definitely been a good place to hide out in. Good, but wild. He had enjoyed his time there and regretted leaving so soon. All in all, Cade was very far from being an expert on all things witch related. He still just hadn’t expected talking to the dead to fall under their areas of expertise. Caden always pictured overdone psychics, in crazy turbans and darkened rooms, speaking in odd voices to pretend as if the dead were communicating through them. Well, Alex shattered that otherwise ignorant image by only muttering a spell to be able to do so. She ruined all the fun.
“I’d like to point out that the only way you’d ever get away is by cheating.” Cade put a hand to his heart and battered his eyelashes, like he was trying to be an overemotional girl. “Could you live with yourself knowing that you hadn’t one fair and square?” He tried to let a note of whining slip into his voice, only furthering the role he was trying to portray. Then Caden dropped the act and went back to being his normal self. “Do you really think you could outrun me? There’s no possible way. Unless you cheat, that is.” He kept wanting to point out this cheating thing, figuring it’d annoy Alex to no end. No one liked being called a cheater; it always caused a huge, heated argument. Knowing these two, it’d turn into one of those “nu-huhs” and “uh-huhs” kind of disagreements that siblings normally had, with a ton of finger pointing going on. That was how quarrels went down with these two; as immaturely and childishly as possible. There really was no other way to reach an end.
He couldn’t stop himself from laughing when Alex tried to push him away. That probably wasn’t the best response; people – especially girls – never liked to be laughed at it that sort of manner. To make up for it, Cade did move back, putting more space between him and the witch. “Now, I never said that,” Caden corrected her, putting up a finger in a ‘hold on second’ motion. “She just wouldn’t fall into the definition of a lady.” Maybe he had his mind stuck in the early nineteen hundreds, but he’d never call a girl who didn’t respect themselves enough to dress properly a lady. But girls didn’t really want to be known as that these days, not from what Caden had seen. They wanted to be hot, sexy, irresistible; the complete opposite of a prim and proper lady. He didn’t move the first few moments after Alex threatened him, mostly to annoy her. Eventually, he took a bigger step backwards, simply because he really didn’t want Alex to use a spell to make him do something. For one, Cade would much rather do things on his own accord. And who knew what she’d decide to summon? He wasn’t about to put himself at risk.
The blonde stumbled slightly when Alex pushed him towards the door. He wasn’t typically ungraceful, but it was hard for anyone to stay safely on their two feet when they were shoved. Caden turned around and put his hands on his hips – much like Alex did when she was annoyed – and frowned. “That wasn’t very nice,” he said, in a high pitched, crappy imitation of Alex’s voice. He didn’t want it to sound like her; he wanted to make fun instead. A grin spread itself on his lips before he returned to the basement door, opening it and descending into the darkness. Cade wasn’t ready for Alex to start playing with his hair and he stiffened slightly at first, thinking it must be spiders or some other sort of insect who liked to dwell in dark places. And then he relaxed, realizing what it really was. He took the light from Alex gratefully, happy that he would be able to see what was in front of his feet rather than blindly guessing. Much safer that way. The fallen angel laughed slightly at Alex’s inquiry. “Dead bodies,” he replied solemnly, glancing over his shoulder in hopes of seeing a reaction from Alex. Caden reached the bottom of the stairs and moved the light around, trying to make out any shapes. The light didn’t move far enough, only revealing lumpy black shapes and creating shadows.

A look fell over Alex's features the moment Cade dared to open his mouth. It contorted into both annoyance and mischief. Smirking coyly, she held up her hands, then pointed to herself, "Me? A cheater?"
she gave him a look that plainly read, then you don't know me as well as you thought. Eyes gleamed, spelling only trouble for the fallen as she looked around the house, after she'd offered him the light to go down into the basement first. Seeing how he kept pointing out being a cheater, her anger sparked, though Alex only answered, "I would cheat, darling Caden." she grinned deviously, feeling her magic spark and dance along her fingers, causing a soft glow to appear around her hands, "Just don't you be jealous when I do actually win by cheating, besides, who said I wouldn't cheat?" she grinned lightly and laughed shortly. Oh, their argument would probably only get worse and more childish from here on out, resulting in both of them just probably giving up towards the end of it, not wanting to argue anymore because it would go nowhere. Wrinkling her nose, Alex then realized her hands were glowing and she calmed down her magic, before picking up a nearby piece of wood, and sparks flew from her fingers as she lit up the piece of wood like a good old fashion torch. Then, his horrible imitation followed, which caused Alex to want to sock Caden right across the face. Scowling, she emphatically rolled her eyes and she spoke, "Ha, you should do stand-up." she teased, before then offering Cade the torch, "Feeling like compensating with this large piece of wood?" she grinned deviously, hoping to catch him there, and offering out her other hand with the various gems embedded in it, helping to give her more power, "That way you can poke the bodies we find down here." Her face contorted into mild disgust though when he spoke there could probably be dead bodies down here. She scowled slightly and combined with her sticking her tongue out in disgust, came out to a "mildly disgusted" face. Dead bodies, ugh. Ghosts and such she could handle, but when it came to something like actual dead bodies instead of just seeing them on tv, Alex didn't think she'd handle that well. Neither would her stomach. Snatching the torch from him then, and taking the lighter, the witch then looked up towards where she thought she heard movement above them, on the ground level floor. Like something was tailing them. Cringing slightly, she suddenly tripped on the bottom step and knocked into Cade in front of her. Gasping, she sighed and apologized, before waving the lighter around silently, before inquiring, "Is someone down here?" Most of the time spirits would want to be seen - sometimes, though other times they would prefer not to. Frowning slightly, Alex looked around, brushing back some of her hair, before poking Cade in the back, telling him to keep moving as they could circle the basement so that they could see everything and anything that might be down here. Suddenly, Alex sensed something dart across in front of Cade, she grabbed onto the back of his shirt and pull on it, telling him to stop, before she pointed forwards, and muttered a spell, causing the fire in the lighter to then jump up and dance along her fingers before shooting forwards and lighting up the area in front of them, which just had some deserted paintings and other random things. As the dancing flames spell worked, Alex frowned as she discovered it was only a rat. Sighing in relief and annoyance with herself, she huffed and snuffed the flames out in the air, before giving Cade a look that read, "don't even say anything" before she mused calmly, "I feel like popcorn after this. Want some when we get done looking around this place?" she grinned innocently, before her purple eyes landed on some paintings, "I...I think the people who lived here last were supernaturals...what do you think Cade? You getting that vibe?" i believe i told some lies / kel!. im holding onto all i had / idk the words. i believe in butterflies / done. go to hell some other day / click!. saying sorry for when i was bad / oh god, this post sucked. i'm sorry. “Of course you’re a cheater,” Cade said, a crooked smile playing at his lips. “I’m an angel; I think it’s against my genetics.” The little fact that he was a fallen angel could be forgotten. And well, that was a slight lie right there. Caden knew he was perfectly capable of lying but typically chose not to because it didn’t sit well on his conscious. Besides, he was only saying that with the intent of having Alex deny it. He liked starting arguments with her, as twisted as it sounded. Well, that was just what their relationship was; arguments. He wasn’t entirely sure they’d get along without those little arguments. The fallen could only smile at the comment that she would cheat. Sneaky witch. Cade wondered if all witches were like that, or if it was just Alex. Despite the fact that Caden had been alive for a while, he hadn’t met very many witches. They typically stuck to their own kind, he had found out, looking down on those who couldn’t do magic. Of course, not all witches were like that; each species had their own quirky groups and Cade must’ve just ran into one of those groups. “Pfft. Who said you’d win, even if you did cheat?” The blonde said, acting as if Alex was no threat.
He jumped slightly when Alex ignited the piece of wood. The young man was sure that he’d never get used to her magic. It always seemed to happen at random when he wasn’t prepared for it. Though his surprise didn’t matter all that much; it seemed as if his impression had done its job of pissing said witch off. “Do you really think so?” he asked, pretending to take it as a complement, though he knew Alex meant it as an insult. It was one of Caden’s favorite things to do, taking Alexandra’s comments and turning it to the complete opposite of its intention. It always seemed to make her angry. He wasn’t entirely sure why he liked to make the witch angry, but he did. He figured it was the younger brother in him, the one that loved to tease and tease and tease. But whatever it was, Alex always came back and they remained friends. “Why is it my job to poke the dead bodies?” He half whined, acting like it was a big deal. Typical male stereotype; they loved poking dead things. Whatever. He didn’t have too much time to think about it, seeing as how Alex tripped.
Caden turned around quickly, faster than it was possibly for a normal human, catching and steadying her before letting go again. “Don’t worry about it,” he said in response to Alex’s apology for running into him. Hey, people tripped and couldn’t control it. Though he must admit that Alex’s inquiring of whether or not someone was with them gave him the creeps. Because sure, while he believed in the supernatural world (it was kind of hard not to when you were one), he wasn’t entirely sure he liked thinking about there being ghosts and spirits as well. Especially ones that had ill wills. It was just too weird, trying to believe in something that you couldn’t see, knowing that they could literally be right there breathing over your shoulder and you’d have no clue unless you could see them. He continued walked when Alex poked him in the back, eyes slowly scanning the basement, taking special care to stare harder at the darker spots, trying to pull out anything that might seem suspicious. Stupid ghosts. He really didn’t want to deal with those. Who’s idea was it to come here anyway?
The blonde paused as Alex pulled on the back of his shirts, literally freezing in his path. Had he not had such good natural balance, Caden was sure he would’ve fell flat on his butt. He wasn’t entirely sure what had caused Alexandra to pull on him to stop, but whatever it was must’ve scared her silly. He knew that her shooting out the sudden flame to light up the corner certainly did that to him. The fallen turned around and gave Alex a questioning work but didn’t say anything out loud, deciding that if Alex really didn’t want to talk about it, she could pretend that she hadn’t caught the look. He looked back to the corner only to have his eyes land on a small rodent. Was that it? Really? Cade looked at Alex again, this time with a smirk. “You’re so random,” he commented, when she mentioned popcorn. What about this situation made her automatically realize that she was hungry for popcorn? Of course he wouldn’t object to food. He was always hungry, just like any other young man, and food was never turned down. Alexandra mentioned something about thinking that the past owners were supernatural and he shrugged. “I’m no good that that whole ‘vibes’ thing,” he admitted. He wasn’t. There was not a single psychic bone in his body, nor was he very good at listening to his intuition.
