Jenn stepped out of the cab and handed the man some money. She looked up at the tall apartment building and sighed. She had money, plenty of it but she didn’t want so much attention. She walked up the steps and into the building. A elderly woman greeted her,“Hello dear, would you be Jennifer?” Jenn nodded and took the women extended hand. “Here you go, third floor, fourth door on the right.” Jenn accepted the key and thanked the lady before taking her single knapsack of clothes over to the elevator. She listened to the wine of the machine as it worked against gravity to take her up and the soft but annoying music overhead. As the doors slid open she sighed and stepped out, walking down the hall. She counted off the doors in her head before stopping at her own. After opening the door she looked around. It was small but big enough for her, she didn’t need a big space. She shut the door and noticed how it bounced back open. Sighing inwardly Jenn walked over after putting her bag down and pushed it closed but it wouldn’t really go with out forcing it and she didn’t want to brake it so she left it cracked and made a mental note to have It fixed.
She turned and took in the small room and smiled to her self, she would be fine here. She was on her own, finally away from the witch of an aunt she had been with. Walking over to the window, one of the only two, she opened in and looked down. She was afraid of heights but this wasn’t so bad. A fresh gust of wind came through the window, ruffling her dark hair and made her smile more. After climbing into the window she let her legs hang out side. It gave her a rush of fear and excitement all at once. She watched cars and people out in the street and pulled out her iPod from her skinny jeans. Leaning against the window seal she listened to ‘Wrapped in You Arms’ by Fireflight. The song was one of her many favorites, always relaxing her. She closed her eyes and let herself be taken by the sounds.
