Theodore wanted to relax, he was feeling claustrophobic in the real world. Everyone expected everything of him and he felt stupid when he let them down. He felt like he couldn't try hard enough because every time he succeed at something he was pushed down by failing someone else. He was in the woods. No one was there to judge him, or to expect anything from him. He loved the freedom they provided. Not only was it freeing but also he had a chance to be the real him and shift. He loved being a shapeshifter. There was nothing that could beat the feeling of him in his form. No one knew that Theo was a shapeshifter let alone his form. He was a snake. A python to be specific and he loved it. It was unusual and most people wouldn't expect him to be something so scary and some might even thing gruesome. But to Theo snakes were exiting exotic things. And the other shapeshifters that he had come across were all something less weird, most of them were mammals. And Theo liked being someone different, someone unique.
As he sat under one of the trees he took the chance to relax and close his eyes. Life was hectic. He always seemed to have something to do and not time to rest. He used to like that but now as he grew older he wanted more time to himself. More time to think about what he was doing and what he wanted to become. For him, the forest was just the place. Nothing there to distract him, or to take his attention form his thoughts. In the forest he usually spent most of his time in his animal form. But it hard to think as a snake. Everything seemed to be so much bigger and so much better and it was hard to comprehend what was happening let alone ponder over his problems. So he had made the sacrifice and turned back. So as he sat there, trying not to let his mind wander away from him he tried to make himself think about the important things. About his parents nagging him to sort his life out and think about the future, his friends always wanting to do nothing more then part and Theo being tired of the same thing happening over and over. But Theodore was easily distracted and so he gave up thinking and just looked around him.
He had always loved the forest, he didn't know why. Maybe it was because it was the natural living habitat for the snake. ll he had were theories but he didn't mind. The forest felt like home. To many it might feel big and scary, especially at night. But to him he found that the sounds of the animals made him feel safe and at home. The sight of the moon made him feel closer to... something, he didn't know really. It made him somehow feel closer to himself. Made him realize what type of person he actually was. Not what type of person everyone wanted him to be. He lightly ran his hadn't across the tree bark his back was resting against. He didn't know why he did it, He just wanted to feel the roughness of it. It felt good, the almost pain as he dragged his hand against the bumpy surface. The tiny bits of wood sticking out and lightly pricking him. Theodore came across a sharper piece and he felt it going through his skin. The slight sting making him pull his hand away. And as the blood started to roll, he wiped it of onto his jeans. He didn't mind the sight of blood but it made him feel creeped out. He had no clue why but the crimson blood unsettled him.
