“Just a little bit” Siane replied amusedly, in response to his comment about rambling. She looked at him for a long moment, her eyes fixed on his face, as if she was trying to work something out. Realizing she might be making him even more uncomfortable, she snapped herself out of it and returned to studying her tail. She felt slightly awkward and wasn’t sure why. The pool suddenly felt smaller…not in a bad way, but she became much more aware of Joss’s presence.
When he mentioned her tail being pink her lips curved into an easy smile “Yes, I’d noticed” She leaned forward a bit, running a hand over the scales. “A bit odd actually. It’s normally more a sort of silvery color.” It was quite confusing. She knew her tail took on different tinges depending on her mood but pink? It had never been pink before. What did that signify? Glancing over at him again she playfully used one fin to splash him.
“Oh I don’t really blame you” She said as he apologized for over reacting. “I think most people would be nervous if they found themselves in a deserted pool with a mermaid” Had she really spooked him that much? She hadn’t been terribly comfortable about being alone in a deserted park with a demon who could probably kill her with one hand, still, he hadn’t and here they were, having a conversation in the middle of a rainstorm. Strange, but …nice. Once again she felt her eyes being drawn back to his face. There was something about him that intrigued her.

"It's... not normally pink. It sort of suits you." Joss couldn't help but smirk. It was sort of amusing that even the mermaid seemed surprised by her tail color. It was sort of amusing, that look on her face. Vaguely, the demon wondered what the tail felt like. "Hey, hey! I'm already wet! No need to go and make it worse. I'll splash you back." And he did, with one quick slap of his hand against the water.
"No, no. It's okay. I'm alright now, I swear. I'd actually like to hear you sing again, if you don't mind. I think if I prepare myself for it, accept that it's coming.. It might not affect me as badly." The demon pulled himself onto a rock and leaned against his knees. "Alright, let's hear it."

"Suits me? It's...pink. I'm not a really a pink person" She shrugged her shoulders slightly, dismissing the thought of her tail color for the time being. She chuckled as he splashed her back, not minding the water in her face at all.
What he said next had her openly staring. "You want me to sing?" Slowly a smile crept over her face and she nodded slightly "Very well, but if your aim is to to immunize yourself, don't get your hopes too high. People have tried it before." She smiled again. "I think it might be intresting though, to see if you can control the urge to come closer"
She rested on her elbows again, facing him and watching him closely, started singing softly, continung the song she'd stopped. It was in old mermish, but somehow the ancient language made it even more beautiful almost as if the words themselves were magical.

The demon had braced himself for the sound that was to be coming out of the mermaid's mouth. Mentally, he had readied himself for the lure but his body still wanted to respond. As soon as the music hit the air, his muscles tensed and tried to lurch his body forward and into the water. Somehow, he managed t keep himself planted on the rock, but he looked strained and not at all comfortable. His eyes stayed locked onto Siane, but he simply did not move.
"How'm I doing?" He asked, though his voice was almost slurred with the strain of keeping still. Sure, he wasn't moving but it wasn't like the sound wasn't messing him up. He could feel his mind slipping away and when it was gone, he'd be in the water again and swimming toward her. Something whispered in the back of his mind that if he was that far gone, he'd be unable to control his body for a while. The thought was frightening, but Joss still didn't move.
The seconds seemed to pass into hours as he sat, his muscles beginning to twitch from the stress of his position. Finally, he gave up and his body fell into the water with a splash. Though he was no consciously controlling his limbs, they propelled him toward Siane until he was dangerously close then forced him to tread water in front of her, waiting like an obedient puppy. He cursed himself mentally for being too weak to resist completely, but he found himslelf utterly unable too do anything but swim. Uh oh...

Siane watched with interest as Joss tensed when she started to sing. He did well in the beginning, remaining motionless on the rock before he asked her how he was doing. She simply smiled, continuing with her song. If Joss could resist it until she'd finished he must be one of the only living creatures on earth, apart from other mermaids, who could.
Soon though, he started twitching and Siane knew he wouldn't be able to hold out for much longer. Sure enough, a couple seconds later and he slipped back into the water, swimming towards him as if she was pulling him on a wire. Their eyes still locked, Siane slowly trailed off. ending the song, and his trance. Very interesting. So even Demons couldn't resist siren song. She smiled slightly, waiting for him to come out of his daze.
She wasn't quite sure how she felt about this. On the one hand, she was sort of pleased that she still had some form of defense against him, and on the other hand, it might have been nice to have someone who was completely unaffected by her voice, or at least, able to control themselves. Sometimes Siane wondered if there was actually anyone who spent time with her because of her, rather than her innate siren. Thankfully though, these little moments of insecurity didn't last long and a second later she was fine again.

For a time that was far less than comfortable for Joss, the demon was unable to speak. His mind was screaming things, but his mouth just wouldn't allow him to speak. Unable to speak, he stuck to just treaded water. It was several minutes before the effect of the song wore off (probably due to his resistance).
"Damn," The demon swore under his breath. "I did okay for a while, but I just couldn't hold on to My muscles just gave up on me."
In an attempt to clear his mind, Joss dunked himself under the water and came up blinking to clear his eyes and brushing hair out of his face. "That's a pretty neat trick, you know? It's a good thing you didn't really want to drown me." He repressed a shudder, knowing how poorly he'd fare if she did. It still hadn't registered how close he was, though. That wouldn't register for another couple of minutes.

Siane gave a half smile as Joss came back to his senses. "Okay?" She asked him with a casualness that was deceptive. Occasionally mermaid song had odd side effects. She was very glad when he spoke.
"Yeah..you held out for...all of 3 minutes" she teased. In actual fact she'd had no idea how long it was, she'd been so focused on the song, and on Joss.
"What does it feel like?" She asked after a second. "Listening to it? I'm not affected by it and I've always wondered" She smiled as he ducked under the water. When he came back up and commented on how lucky it was that she didn't really want to kill him she laughed "I think you might be lying on the bottom by now if i had wanted to kill you" she agreed matter-of-factly. She wondered if Joss realized just how dangerous it was to go swimming with unknown mermaids. She laughed softly as the thought that it was probably just as dangerous to sit in deserted parks with unknown demons crossed her mind and she voiced the thought to Joss. "Having said that....I think it's a good thing you didn't really want to kill me in the park.....You have that pinning move down to an art form" She paused for a moment considering before she looked back at him, an amused smile still on her face. "What do you think, does that make us even?" How odd. She was used to being the one with the advantage, and she liked it that way. Somehow though, it didn't matter so much with Joss.

Joss took a moment to take inventory of his senses. Everything seemed to check out. Sure, he felt a little dizzy, but that wasn't a big deal at all. 'Yeah, I'm alright. Just a little disoriented." He was quiet while trying to form a sentence to describe the feeling. "It's a really odd feeling. Sort of sneaks up on you. You think you're fine, think you're doing great and then suddenly this... dizziness washes over and you're not in control. Everything's great and then you're swimming to your doom. Or you would be, assuming the mermaid is interested in drowning you. Luckily, I seem to have aligned myself with a good one who isn't interested in killing me."
The demon took a deep breath and considered. She was right. It was incredibly lucky that neither one of them was interested in harming the other. Otherwise, they'd both be in serious trouble. "Damn. Was that really only three minutes? It seemed like an eternity and all I could make my body do was swim toward you. Isn't that strange? And then... I got close and my body wouldn't let me move. I just had swim there and wait for you to deal with me. I'm rather glad you didn't try to drown me, though I'm really not sure you could drown me. I am already dead, you know?"
It seemed that the storm had caused them just enough trouble to get them into the water. He wondered idly if there was some sort of master plan to get them here into the water. A demon and a mermaid, such an interesting combination. He jumped himself back upon his rock perch and openly stared. "So... here we are. We've survived the rain and your song, both of us intact. What do we do now?"

Tilting her head slightly in thought Siane tugged at a wisp of wet hair, trying to get it out of her face. "You know, that's a good point. I hadn't thought about it, the you already being dead part. Perhaps I should've tested it out. I could always have fished you out before it was too late" She smirked slightly, clearly joking. The situation was worth considering in depth later though, she'd have to ask her friend Delma about it when she next saw her.
Sensing the demon's eyes on her, Siane looked up and gave him a smile. She swam closer, leaning against the rock but reluctant to remove herself from the water yet. It was funny to think of Joss as dead. Death to her had always seemed like being sentenced to eternal boredom, and Joss and boring didn't go together at all. So far the evening had proved both extremely interesting and enjoyable. Glancing up at the sky she chuckled softly, unknowingly echoing his own thoughts. "I wonder who's bright idea this was....a demon and mermaid going swimming?"
