And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are She felt shivers dart down her spine. They felt wonderful. She was loving this too much. It was simple. Wonderful. Enticing to want to do it. Did he mind it? Didn't seem like it, but this was what she liked. The contentment of just being...here. In his arms, like nothing else would ever be able to touch her. Feeling the warmth surround her it seemed like, the brunette tilted her head gently, fingers barely touching Colt's face as she mapped out his features quietly, painting an image of his face in her mind. He was as handsome as she had thought. Smiling weakly, the brunette then realized with a pang that she was so close to Colt, she could feel his breath brushing her face. She loved it, being so close to someone, she cared so much about, in such a short amount of time. It was frightening, but wonderful at the same time. It was perfect, and she didn't care about anything else at this point. Well, besides a few things, but the only thing in her mind right no was Colt. Colt this and Colt that. The hybrid then paused as he spoke, and she was going to ask something, to poke a little bit of fun gently, though she smothered the want, just as fast as it had come the moment their lips touched. Good Lord. Lorelai had a thing for chocolate, for spicy food. They were wonderful, but this. This kiss was wonderful. Delicious, perfect. She swore it felt like fireworks were going off between them.
The woodsy smell, it was a mixture of the woods, cologne, and a strong scent. A scent she couldn't quite put a finger on. It was...natural, in a sense. Like what she figured a werewolf would taste and smell like. Lorelai didn't mind it, her mind coiled around Colt and Colt only, as she eagerly returned the kiss. His lips were soft, luscious - though she would never say that out loud, it was just...perfect. Lorelai then was surprised the moment it ended, and the darkness that came with closing one's eyes, remained when her eyes opened, staring curiously to Colt's direction. Then, an apology. Oh God, he was right. She couldn't be doing this, as her panic took over. What if he turned out to be a horrible person? This could all be a mask, and the hybrid winced the moment she was back in the water, with just her. Pausing, Lorelai heard him then swim away, back to the boat, probably where Troy was lying down getting sun to dry himself with. The mermaid remained there, almost defeated in a sense. She hated this. Why couldn't she move on? She smacked the water with her tail, floating on her back as she scowled. Her therapist had told her to take it slow. Slow? How slow!? No! She shook her head, closing her eyes. She trusted Colt, he had had plenty of opportunities to do something nasty, and he had yet to do it.
He was a good guy, she settled, but...maybe. She'd have to ask. Take it slow. She couldn't jump right in, most guys wanted only one thing. Was he like that? She felt betrayal inch itself into her thoughts, though she smothered it, thinking it over. He hadn't made it clear about sex...but two sides of her fought. One said he did, the other said he didn't. Or at least, not for awhile. Lorelai then tilted her head as Colt had gotten out of the water. Frowning slightly, she then dove under with a splash and a powerful stroke of her tail. Using her magic, she went under the boat to near the reef, and felt a few fish seem to greet her. She ran her hands along it, before landing on a shell. Making sure a crab hadn't made it their home, she returned to the surface a minute or two later, pulled the water out of her lungs with magic, as she appeared on the other side of the boat. She approached it carefully, hearing Troy's panting as she headed to the back, and set the shell down, before then gripping the platform submerged in the water, and she got herself out onto it. Scales glittered in the sun, unknown to Lorelai as she then grabbed the bottom of the boat. It was so awkward without magic, but she preferred not to use it if she could help it. Landing on the boat, she sighed and lied down, feeling a warm tongue from Troy lick her. Grabbing a towel Troy had brought to her, Lorelai then began to dry herself off. She wanted to talk to Colt, see what was going on, and speak as well. Taking her hair out of the ponytail, feeling the waves hit her shoulders, the hybrid felt her legs return. Good, with her bikini bottom - even better. Tying the towel around her waist, she threw out her magic to find Colt, and when she did, she sat beside him, "Colt?" she asked, unaware of how close she'd probably sat by him, "I...I wouldn't apologize." she mused gently, hands nervously fiddling with the towel, "It's just...." she paused, "I want to spend time with you...I like spending it with you." Yes, honesty. "Just that...I want to take things...slow." She held up the shell to him, offering, "Here, it's said if a mermaid offers you a shell, the shell brings luck."

Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid! Could he have made a worse choice? Colt had kissed her and it was been beautiful, magical, everything he could have hoped. The voice in his head had cheered him on, but the voice hadn't reminded him how awful Lorelai's past had been. God, he didn't even know the half of it and it was already awful. What if he had triggered some sort of awful memory? What if he had caused her pain just by following his own stupid instincts. Angrily, the werewolf slammed his hand down on the seat next to him, wincing in pain. Of course, he was going to injure himself. That was just going to another thing he'd have to apologize for.
Without looking up, Colt could hear Lorelai reappear on the boat. The sound of her footsteps told him that she was headed his way and the werewolf braced himself for anger. Surprisingly though, she sat down gently. God, his body knew exactly how far away she was, longed to pull her close. That wasn't allowed, though. Off limits...
Curiously, he raised his head and listened as Lorelai spoke. She.... liked spending time with him...? Take it slow? God, of course! Miracle of miracles! Though his brain still screamed at him for being being an idiot and his hand still throbbed, Colt smiled. "Take it slow, huh?" He laughed, that deep resonant sound. "I think I can do that, Lorelai... If that's what you want." His eyes widened in surprise when she presented him with a shell. He'd heard the legend, and appreciated the sentiment immediately. "I love it," He admitted softly. 'Tober's good with stuff like this. I think I'll have her put it on a necklace for me. Then I can have good luck all the time."
God, she was sweet. Not only had she forgiven his forwardness but she still wanted to be around him. He'd be eternally grateful that things had turned this way. He would just have to exhibit enough control to keep things moving at the right pace. Colt put the shell to the side, careful to remember its position so he wouldn't break it. He had a thought, just a little plan and it made him smile. "So I think we should probably head back." Regret tinged his voice, but continued on. "I sort of hurt my hand a minute ago.. so I was wondering you wanted to help me steer the boat in." He rose and offered her his non-injured hand. "Come here with me... You put your hands on the wheel... I'll put my hands on yours. We'll steer it in together, yeah?" Contact, but it was innocent. It had a purpose. .......he could do this.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are The young woman fell silent as she sat down by Colt, waiting for his reaction. The boat rocked gently due to the waves of the ocean, almost lullaby-like in a way. As the waves lapped at the boat, Lorelai's attention remained locked on Colt, listening to his breathing, the slight shift as he moved, as she figured he hadn't been sitting up straight when he came over, his body language from what she felt move on the seats, told her he had been slouching over, most likely with his face in his hands. She heard him repeat what she said, then laughed. She liked his laugh, but wait...was he laughing at her? Cocking an eyebrow, Lorelai opened her mouth to comment before hearing him speak about doing it. "I'm sure you can..." she almost added he could if he cared about her as much as he thought she did. Or she hoped. Placing a gentle hand on his arm, based on the feeling, most likely his forearm, she grinned as the shell vanished from her hands and the hybrid then mused, blowing back some of her hair that had fallen into her face. "Sounds good. I would get one for her, maybe next time, since it would need to go right from my hand to hers for the luck to happen." she commented. She would be more than happy to do that for Colt's younger sister, which she felt a pang of jealousy sneak through her at that thought. October had an older sibling to keep an eye on her, Lorelai never had that. She wondered what it was like, to keep an eye on someone, just a sibling. Sure, she had the few other women, and the woman who tutored her as well with Braille, but they were all in their late teens, twenties, while she hadn't even hit 14 yet.
Lorelai listened to his words, then heard the regret in his voice, though faint, it was there. Head back? She didn't have a problem with that, not one bit. Her brow furrowed when she heard him mention helping to steer as he had hurt his hand. The young woman opened her mouth to voice something, that she could help before he stood up, and Lorelai followed, her arm hitting his hand that had been obviously out for her. Oops. She sighed softly at herself, and her hand brushed his, "Thanks." Lorelai grinned gently, before she then took both his hands, and whisper, "I'm more than happy to." she paused, before adding, "Hold on..." She then ran her thumb over both his hands, allowing her sensitivity to kick in as she then allowed her magic to flow onto his injured hand. She then grinned as a soft, water-like substance appeared, and coiled around Colt's hands. Lorelai felt her magic land on his hand, and as the substance disappeared, she mused, "It will heal your hand faster, probably by the end of the day." she grinned gently, before she then had him guide her to the wheel, and her fingers brushed the ignition, she snapped her fingers, and her magic shut the gate in the back and brought up the anchor, getting them ready, as Troy whined lightly, sitting down outside from what she heard. Lorelai glanced over her shoulder, she hadn't let go of Colt's hands, as her hands fell on the wheel, his on top of hers.
She became vividly aware of how close he was, but she...didn't mind it. His arms just made her feel protected. Safe. Like she mattered was the best way to pt it. That he actually cared about her. Did he have any idea what he did to her? Perhaps, if he didn't, then that was just wonderful, did she do the same to him? Pausing, as she felt the boat begin to move, Lorelai spoke, "I...at my appointment tomorrow...I can...tell you." she sighed, closing her eyes, enjoying the feeling as she allowed Colt to steer while she turned the wheel with him, using her muscles while she allowed him, who could see, guide her. "Tell you why I'm blind. Why I'd like to take it slow." She bit her bottom lip. He was serious though, the sincerity in his tone was hard to miss. But she couldn't see anything besides that. Colt was a good guy, and she felt so lucky to actually be here. With him. Almost like he didn't deserve her. In a way she didn't feel like he did, but she felt like being selfish, she wanted to be his, and spending as much time with him felt...perfect.

Colt couldn't help but grin as he felt that odd magical substance sink into his skin. Of course Lorelai had helped him. That seemed like something she'd do in a heartbeat and the thought only widened the grin on his features. She had agreed to help him steer and had taken her place at the wheel. That left him to sidle up behind her and place his larger hands over hers. This.... felt right. They were standing in close proximity, but he felt no danger. His hands rested lightly on top of hers, guiding with ease. Lorelai spoke about the appointment tomorrow and Colt just nodded, humming his assent in his chest. "Mhm." He said easily. "That's fine.." And it was fine. This was all fine. Her closeness, her warmth, that slight hesitation when she spoke that he found so adorable... The best part? He'd seen her again so soon. The thought comforted him and made the rest of the ride go easier. Colt had walked Lorelai and Troy home so he could have some knowledge of where to pick her up in the morning. He'd said goodbye, lingering only a moment longer than necessary before heading back to his own apartment.
The next morning, Colt arrived once more at Lorelai's place. This time, however, he had driven over on his motorcycle. The comforting rumble of the engine died down as he switched the machine off. They had agreed on a meeting time before he'd left the previous eveing, so now all that was left to do was wait. He had taken off his glossy black helmet to wait, placing his spare helmet on the seat behind him. Leather jacket was adjusted just right, hair brushed out of his face. She'd be out soon and, to be honest, he just couldn't wait. Today had the potential to be very enlightening and he wanting to make sure that Lorelai was taken care of in every way. Now, if only she'd come out!

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are To say she was excited about today was an understatement. She felt like this was the beginning of...everything. The brunette had invited over a friend when she'd gotten home last night, to help her pick something out for today. Why? Her therapist had told her as long as she was doing her exercises - which she had been, that she would most likely start to be able to see again today. Squealing from excitement, Lorelai quickly got ready, stumbling over Troy by accident. She had hardly anything in her room and her bathroom, making it easier, and she always made sure to keep her shampoo, body wash and conditioner separate so she could find them. Straightening her hair, she patted Troy as she lingered on the couch, adjusting her pumps. She was wearing a pair of black leggings with a tunic top, a light fabric and such, but she could have it double as being light, but also being warmer if it didn't warm up that much today. She then went to grab her walking stick - just in case. It was a portable one, therefore it was thinner, but it worked just fine if she didn't try to break it. This was just for when Colt probably could or couldn't go into the room with her. She hoped Dr. Lopez could allow it, but she'd need to see. Lopez was someone Bonnie knew, a top psychotherapist in Manuka and the surroundings areas. The only reason Lorelai had gotten in so easily was because not only was Bonnie a friend to the woman, but Lorelai had gotten some buzz in the local area when she first arrived here.
Snorting, Lorelai folded the stick up as she heard one of her roomies wake up. Excitement coursing through her as she twitched excitedly on the couch, before she frowned, "A motorcycle?" Patting Troy, she mused, "See ya, boy." and a quick kiss on his soft head before she then stepped outside, tilting her head. Yeah, it was Colt...and a motorcycle? First off, she loved them, and secondly, that was hot, thirdly...she'd never been on one before. Biting her bottom lip as she flicked the lock behind her, the hybrid carefully headed out to him with her portable walking stick, and folded it as she tapped what she figured was a part of the wheels on it. "Hey, Colt." she greeted him softly, "A motorcycle, hm? I'm going to admit...I've never been in one before." She confessed, tucking her hair behind her ear before she quickly snapped the portable stick back into her purse, which she easily tossed over her head and onto her shoulder, which she could set in her lap on the motorcycle. "Awesome." she grinned, stepping up to it, "I have a feeling I will be the most awkward person getting on a bike." she smiled sheepishly, holding out a hand and placing it on Colt's shoulder, holding out her other hand and running it along before noticing another helmet. For her? How sweet. Finally though, once they'd gotten on and settled, Lorelai mused, "It's on West Street, the grey building right across the street from the bank." She just panicked slightly though, what would Colt think?

Colt had raised his head at the sound of the door opening, face practically lighting up when he spotted Lorelai. Yeah, today was going to be pretty awesome, all things considered. Keeping quiet, the werewolf watched Lorelai make her way to the bike, heard her voice say his name. He shuddered, unable to resist the musicality of the letters when Lorelai spoke his name. Such a good choice to give her his first name. It felt so right. Ah, but this was the moment... This was the here and now. She was going to get onto his motorcycle and they'd begin. He just couldn't wait.
"Hey Lorelai!" He said lightly. "Yep, this is my bike. You look great today! Ready to go?" Yeah, he was a bit anxious to get to the place and scope everything out. When he felt her settle down behind her, he turned his head just a bit. "Alright, then. Helmet on.. Make sure you hold on to me, too. Safer that way." Sure, he was telling the truth, but the bit of impish laughter behind his words made the intent more clear. Just like the steering of the boat yesterday, this was contact with purpose, so it was perfectly acceptable.
After giving Lorelai a minute to follow his instructions, Colt kickstarted the bike back into life and revved the engine for show. "By the bank? Got it." And away they went. Colt loved the feeling of the wind rushing past, the constant vibration of the bike below him. He loved the control, the speed, and the energy. It was his job to keep everything going as planned and he relished that fact. Onward they sped, toward a landmark of their newly found relationship. Today, Colt was acting as guide and as helper. He just wanted to do all he could for Lorelai, whether that meant sitting in the session with her or waiting outside for the appointment to be done. Either way, he'd be happy.
All too soon, it seemed they had arrived. The noises of the bike died down with little protest and Colt removed his helmet, tucked it under his arm to help Lorelai off of the bike. They were in her world now, and he was at her beck and call. "May I give you a hand with that dismount, m'lady?" The affection was clear. Had they really only known each other a day? Seemed like a lifetime already.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Lorelai blushed the moment Colt complimented her, 'Thanks. I'll say the same back to you, though I'm going to assume jeans?" she grinned gently, teasing. Getting on, the hybrid smiled to herself, as she felt the helmet lock on to her head gently, the brunette listened to his instructions, and soon her hands snaked around his waist, holding her onto him and the motorcycle. Good Lord, she loved it! She loved the feeling of the air rushing past her, the purr of the engine. Oh yes, she had a very, very good feeling about how today was going to go. She nuzzled her face, which was protected by the helmet she noticed, into his back, resting her head on his shoulder, peering out over his right. What were they going by? Stores? Goodness, she hoped she could see some of that stuff by the end of today. Though she had to prepare herself. She'd never seen Manuka before. Freetown? Yeah, but that was thousands of miles away, across the ocean. Here, it would be like she was going to be a newborn again. She could see anything and everything for the first time. Lorelai sighed softly. She had to brace herself, but she was ready to see again. Ready to not have to worry about tripping in public and someone seeing her do that, only to have multiple people ask her if she was all right. Even though she'd only been with Colt for a day, and had him around, she definitely wanted to spend every day with him as much and as long as possible.
She then paused as they stopped, figuring they'd arrived. Lorelai then grinned inside the helmet and she nodded, pulling it off once her hand had connected with Colt's to help her mostly not stumble off. Getting off better than she'd gotten on, she ran a quick hand through her hair before offering the helmet to Colt, "Here...I'm not sure where you'd like it." she spoke gently, and added, "Thank you...again." she spoke, her voice sincere, her hand brushing his arm gently, "I'll buy us lunch, yes?" she grinned gently, her tone fond, affectionate towards the male with her, "Or I can make you something." she offered gently, as she paused outside the grey building, where she knew her therapist would be waiting. They were only about ten minutes early, but that'd be good, get her nerves settled. As they stepped inside, she could remember the layout, and the receptionist behind the official-looking glass commented, "Nothing's changed, Lorelai dear. Ah, who do you have with you?" Lorelai smiled gently, and paused, unsure how to introduce Colt, she remembered Jason, but...what was he? Boyfriend? She went with that, and answered, "My boyfriend...Jason." Sure, they'd only known each other a day, but she felt like she'd been with him for years.
Sitting down, as she heard Dr. Lopez's voice in the background, she played with the hem of her shirt, trying to keep her nerves from getting too bad. Hearing Colt by her, she mused, "Umm..." she paused, "I...would you want to come in?" She offered quietly, the anxiety showing in her voice, it was quite evident and she was bummed she had allowed it to get into her voice. Lorelai sighed and leaned down, resting her elbows on her knees, and her face in her palms. Why the hell had she invited him? She liked him. That's why. And not just liked. She really liked him. She wanted to be near him at all times, "I'm sure...you've figured it isn't a...doctor's appointment for a physical or anything." she mused, "I...I have hysterical blindness, Colt." she turned her head, though she did find comfort, he was right there, and she loved it. "From...my hometown." she turned her head back towards him, "Do you know what that is?" she asked, meaning the illness she had, before glancing up, as the receptionist, named Jenny commented, "Dr. Lopez will be right with you two, darlings. Need anything to drink?" Lorelai shook her head for herself, but let Colt respond before she continued.

"Yep. I'm wearing jeans, white tshirt, black leather jacket." Colt was amused that Lorelai had guessed his fashion choices. Somehow, she knew. They ride over had been pretty easy, no traffic or any severe issues. They arrived at the building in what seemed record time to Colt, who had helped Lorelai off the bike and let her lead him in the direction they were supposed to go. Inside the building, it seemed that receptionist already knew Lorelai. Of course, that made sense. She'd been here before, he would assume. The office was looked pretty well.... office-y to the werewolf. Nothing terribly special. Just.... a waiting area and that secretary's desk. His ears perked up as the woman behind the counter spoke.
Green eyes widened slightly when the receptionist asked who Lorelai had brought with her. Colt's mind quickly flipped through a couple of options, all friendly. Therefore, he was completely blindsided when Lorelai decided to dub him her boyfriend. Not that he didn't want the title... No, not at all! It was just... very, very surprising. He nodded greetings to the woman, then followed Lorelai to her seat. Boyfriend... The voice mused in the back of his head. Guess she really likes you.
Repressing a grin which didn't quite seem appropriate here, Colt sat down next to Lorelai and observed. She seemed nervous, clearly obvious based on her body positioning. Instinctively, a hand placed itself on her back, rubbing comforting patterns into her shirt. It was a trick he'd worked on Tober many times and only hoped it would calm her a bit. Something told him that he'd do anything to keep from seeing Lorelai upset.
He was once again shocked by her voice. Would he want to come in? 'Sure, I can come in. If that's what you want, I mean. If not, I can totally stay out here. I'm just... here for you. Whatever you want. Whatever would make you more comfortable." The werewolf fell rather quiet as she spoke again. Hysterical blindness? What? Something about her past....? Was it trauma? "I'm sorry, I don't... think I'm quite familiar with the condition. Can you explain?" Green eyes flicked briefly up to the receptionist. "A drink? Oh, no thank you." he waited for the woman to go away before returning to his attention to Lorelai. Now, he was a bit worried and a bit intrigued. What was going on here?

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Sitting down, the brunette commented gently, "Umm...I'm sorry about calling you my boyfriend if that sounded odd...but it would be easier." she smiled softly, "Just, if it seemed too bold." Which she could be - she supposed in her own little way. Surprise melted over her features when she felt someone's hand on her back, and not just anyone's. Colt's. It was strong and warm, as she remembered it. Smiling fondly, appreciative of it, she tuned in as he spoke. She shrugged, "I mean...I think it would be easier, but...I hope it won't change what you think about me." God, she felt so vulnerable. She hated this. So...dependent. Depressing in a way. Lorelai hated this, but it was for the better, and she was determined to begin seeing today. It would happen, she told herself. Fumbling with the hem on her shirt, she paused for a brief moment. How could she tell it without saying what she'd most likely be saying in her session? "It's called that...it's a...conversion disorder." her eyes swiftly glanced his way, wishing so much that she could see his reaction. Watch it take to his face. Would he leave? She felt like she'd be dumping this all on him, and this was only their second day of actually knowing each other, though Lorelai felt like she could trust him with her life. Which frightened her to no end. Hesitating, Lorelai spoke, "It's a form of protection." she nodded, remembering what Bonnie had explained to her upon her arriving in the States to get her citizenship, "I lost it when I was 10 in Freetown, in Sierra Leone."
She wrinkled her nose, she hated saying that place, but she had to, at least her doctor knew that part, so she wouldn't be repeating herself. "It's...a way for the brain, with trauma and psychological stress, to protect itself. I heard it took someone over three decades to overcome it. I plan on getting my sight back by the end of this year." she had promised herself that she would. Lorelai jumped slightly, when Dr. Lopez's voice hit her ears. The woman approached the pair, and offered a hand to Colt, "Hi, I'm Dr. Lopez, or Maria, if you'd like, and you're Jason from what I was told, correct?" She smiled softly towards the young man, before placing a hand on Lorelai's shoulder, "You ready for today, darling?" Lorelai paused, her attention on both Colt and Maria, feeling like they were both looking at her. After a moment's pause, she nodded, before adding, "I'd like C-Jason to be in there with me." Maria nodded, "Sure. You two can sit on my couch." Maria stepped aside as Lorelai stood, having memorized the layout, as she stepped ahead, Dr. Lopez grabbed Jason's arm and mused, "I hope you understand that...it may not be the prettiest thing to be in here today, Jason, though Lorelai must like you a lot if she's inviting you in with us."
The woman gave him a gentle look, before ushering him into the comfy room, where Lorelai was already on the couch, looking down to where her hands were, as if she was watching herself toy with her fingers. Dr. Lopez gestured for Jason to sit, before she sat across from Lorelai and spoke, "Want to tell me a bit about Chibuzo, Lorelai? Tell me what he was like, get him out of your head, and just out into the air, all right?" Lorelai's entire body tensed. Chibuzo. The man behind her family's slaughter. The man behind stealing her childhood and teen years away from her. The one responsible for everything horrible not only to her, but to others who lived near her family as well. "He's...strong. Smart. He knew..." she paused, "He knew to keep an eye on me when he first got me, I tried to escape weekly." Lorelai's hand fell on Colt's leg then, and her fingers coiled in the jean material. She hoped she wasn't hurting him, but she figured he'd say something, or move her hand if she was. "It was so cold there...despite it being in the 90s in the day. Felicia, his...wife tutored me. Remember, Maria?" Maria nodded, "Of course, Lorelai. Do you want to think of her?" Lorelai nodded. "Yes. She helped me escape when I was 16, going on 17 in a few weeks when I got here." She paused, shifting and suddenly found herself leaning into Colt, for support. Comfort. Warmth. Drawing up her legs to allow herself to pretty much snuggle into him, Lorelai felt..comforted. A soft smile graced her lips for a brief moment, before it faded, "I've confronted it in my dreams, Maria. Chibuzo, all of what he did. I want to put it behind me, I have so much to move on with." she spoke, her hand gently squeezed Colt's arm lightly, him, her classes, everything. Maria grinned, and looked towards Jason, to her, "Wonderful."

Colt chuckled at Lorelai's hesitation. "No, it's alright. I don't mind. It's rather nice actually." He wouldn't admit it out loud, but he'd been mentally cheering when she'd termed him her boyfriend. That was a small victory, one he would hold with pride. Of course, he wasn't going to let her forget it, now that she'd used the term. Boyfriend he was, boyfriend he'd stay. Wait til Tober heard! "Absolutely not," Colt said firmly. "Nothing that happens here today will make me think less of you. I promise that."
He quieted down to listen to Lorelai explain. Conversion disorder... Form of protection... Protection from what? Oh... Trauma. Colt's expression darkened considerably and he had to resist the urge to ask questions. He was here for support, not to make things worse. He supposed that things would be explained in due time and he'd just have to wait. Today, he was the protection. He was the comfort... He would do his best. His hand continued the circles on her back as she continued to explain. Colt had noticed the doctor's approach before Lorelai and winced when she jumped. He should have warned her. Briefly, green eyes flicked up to the doctor. "Yes, it's very nice to meet you." He glanced quickly back to Lorelai when she spoke. he was to be allowed in? Wonderful! That meant he could stay by her side.
Colt paused as the doctor held him back. He listened closely. Apparently, it was a big deal that Lorelai was letting him in. He knew that. God, did he know that. He nodded his approval, his understanding and then went in. It was easy to take his seat next to Lorelai, to settle in as the talking began. He listened with horror, but kept the emotion off of his face. She'd been imprisoned, enslaved. Anger welled up deep inside and Colt had the urge to punch something. How dare this man, ANY man for that matter, think that he had the right to take away someone else's life, keep it for their own. It was appalling, shocking, awful.
He was shocked out of his thoughts by Lorelai's hand on his leg. The grip was uncomfortable, but he wasn't going to interrupt. When she shifted into him, Colt inhaled sharply. This was probably the closest they'd been, as she'd tucked herself into his side. Adjusting to the position, Colt slipped an arm around Lorelai's shoulders and pulled her close. This seemed natural, easy. He could just detect that smell, that spice of electricity that signaled her magic. His mind immediately jumped back to the kiss, the emotions that had coursed through him when they'd touched. Immediately, he felt all the more protective. He tried to smile back when the doctor had smiled, but his attention was completely on Lorelai so he wasn't quite sure if he succeeded.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Even though Colt had said he wouldn't think less of her, Lorelai still had that voice in her head, telling her that it wasn't true. Colt was going to freak out the moment he knew the details. What had happened, the reason why she lost her sight. Was she going to alienate him? God she hoped not. Her hearing picked up his inhale immediately, and she tensed when he did that. Pausing, she listened keenly to him if he said something, but he didn't. She liked this. It was warm, protective. Then, an arm around her, and Lorelai sighed softly, unaware of the knowing look that had fallen over Maria's face the moment this little exchange happened between the two. Maria inquired, "Did you explain to Jason about your sight?" Lorelai paused but nodded all the same, "I explained what it was, but not why." her hand found his chest, and she lazily ran her fingertips over it lightly, like when she had brushed her fingers along his face, mapping it out, she mused, speaking to Colt, "Jason...remember I told you about my family?" her head lied down on him, wanting to be as close as possible, "They were killed in front of me, he spared me because he thought I could see the future." Her eyes closed, though Colt probably couldn't see it, as Maria stood up and walked over to a tempo-machine, one that could be used for musicians. Lorelai pretty much snuggled into Colt as much as she could, enjoying his scent, as it helped fight back the scent she remembered that day. She remembered the date it happened too. April 18th, 2991. A spring day, at least to the outside world. Then, she paused as Maria spoke, "Lorelai, now that it's out in the open, I'd like you to tell me something..." the hybrid nodded, not wanting to move if she could avoid it, "What do you want to first see?"
Oh, damn. She didn't know. She wanted to see everything from butterflies to Manuka, to the buildings, to Bonnie, to Colt's motorcycle, to the shade of Troy's fur. The shade of green the trees were here in comparison to the trees in Africa. She wanted to prove to herself Colt's eyes were as green as she imagined. It took her a few moments as she spoke, "I want to see everything. The colors seem...vague. Like I've only seen them in a dream." She tensed when she heard Maria shuffle, as the woman spoke, "I want you to close your eyes." Lorelai did, "I trust you've been doing your exercises?" Lorelai nodded, as Maria mused, "You can stay like that, or sit up, you pick. But, now, Lorelai. You've done it. You're confronting your past, you have a nice boyfriend now, you're in college, you have your life ahead of you." Lorelai's eyes squeezed shut. She wanted to see, if not everything, just something. Not this darkness anymore. "You understand you won't see completely right away?" Lorelai nodded into Colt's chest, her heart racing a thousand beats a minute, as her muscles went tense, her brain spiraling it felt like out of control. "I want you to focus on your present and your future, Lorelai. The thing most important to you this moment in time."
Her first thought - Colt. It was...everything. But it focused around him. She felt so empowered thinking about him, how much he cared, the support she felt emitting from him like water from a shower. Lorelai sighed, as she grinned softly, "Open your eyes when you're ready, Lorelai." What would she be able to see? Lorelai sat up eagerly in excitement, her hair swaying as she did so. Would she be able to see Colt? Or at least his outline? Pausing, keeping his arm around her, and her hand on his leg, though this time, gentle, Lorelai opened her eyes. At first, nothing. It was the darkness, and her hope plummeted. Nothing. She still couldn't see! Scowling, Lorelai opened her mouth, then suddenly, something moved. Wait! Her hand's tightened, and she gasped, "Wait!" she frowned, staring towards...the movement. Lord. She was able to see something! She yelped and grinned, pointing, "Did...you just cross your legs or something, Maria?" she pointed towards the woman's legs, practically holding herself back from jumping up and down. She held out her hand in front of her face, tilting her head, then moving it, like she was shaking her head, while shifting her hand. "I...it's like shadows." she spoke. "Glimpses." she mused solemnly, dropping her hand and then paused, shifting her gaze to Colt. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she mused, "So...I can't see when it's not moving." she waved her hand in front of her face, catching the movement. "Oh...my God." she practically yelped again from excitement, and then wrapped her arms around Colt in an eager hug. Maria grinned in the background towards the two.

Colt found himself utterly transfixed by Lorelai when she traced her fingers over his chest. Of course, the touch felt impossibly good and his mind just wanted to drift off to sleep with her tucked into his side like this. Still, he knew that he had a duty to do, and that meant staying awake and coherent to listen to Lorelai. This became painfully easy to accomplish when she admitted the cause of her blindness. Colt almost choked on nothing. She'd seen her entire family murdered....? Immediately, Colt's thoughts jumped to October. What would he do? How could he cope if his baby sister was not only gone, but murdered right in front of him? The thought made him want to just hold into Lorelai and never really let her go. Thankfully, her response also seemed to be snuggling in closer with her head on his chest. This worked.
The metronome clicked on and Colt found his anticipation growing more and more every second. It seemed he was almost as nervous as Lorelai. No... He was nervous /for/ Lorelai. This was her big day, the change that would affect the rest of her entire life. This was the moment of truth now. The doctor told Lorelai to open her eyes when ready and Colt could tell something was immediately wrong. She did immediately say anything and he was almost outraged for her when Lorelai twitched. She'd noticed something... Movement?! His heart began to race and Colt couldn't stop a ridiculous grin from spreading across his face. This was great! This was wonderful!
Lorelai tackled him in a hug and Colt was all too eager to return it. "You can see movement! That's great!" Excitement colored his tone and that grin only got bigger. he could tell that the doctor was watching this little moment, but he couldn't quite bring himself to care.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are The brunette felt immensely relieved when she finally got to get the talking part over with. She didn’t need to worry about Colt judging her too much – she hoped. So far she could tell, he hadn’t freaked out like she had been panicking over. Sighing softly as she inhaled his scent, before snuggling into him even more if possible. As if she was attempting to mold them together into one person. Her eyes blinked slowly, as if when she opened her eyes again, she wouldn’t be able to see the movement. When she did and noticed something shift, like Dr. Lopez, excitement poured through her once more. Movement! She didn’t need to pay attention to it at all with her hearing, she could see it! Jumping up excitedly, Lorelai yelped, “I can see you shifting.” She then turned her attention to Colt, locking in on where she knew he was. Tilting her head slightly, the hybrid then placed her hand gently on the male’s arm as she sat up calmly, before she then mused, running her hand along his arm, following her movement. "I feel like…a newborn.” she gushed lightly, almost embarrassed. She glanced up and placed her hand along Colt’s jawline, before realizing that there were tears down her face. Surprised, Lorelai shook them away before she just kept on smiling. Smiling more than she thought she ever would in her entire life. The brunette then glanced to Dr. Lopez who mused, waving her hand, causing Lorelai’s eyes to follow the movment eagerly.
"It’s a good start, Lorelai.” she mused gently, "We’ll need to test your eyesight as it begins to return too. Make sure you won’t need glasses.” Lorelai nodded gently, pretty much bouncing up and down on the couch in excitement. She could see! It wasn’t that much, but if someone moved, she would know. "Colt…” she mused softly, her hand falling on his chest, lightly, like a butterfly, she didn’t know why she’d said his name, but she had. Dr. Lopez gave her some medicine just to help with headaches if she would get them from the change from complete darkness to the adjustments she’d be making over the next few months with her eyesight. Lorelai’s hand rested on Colt, "Thank you.” she mused gently as Maria was busy filling out the prescription for the headache medicine. Lorelai’s attention remained on Colt’s movements carefully, following everything as if she were a cat, as if she were a newborn. Wiggling her fingers in front of her eyes, feeling like a child, she then looked to Maria as she approached her, waving the paper in front of her face. Pausing, Lorelai held out her hand, judging it, before it brushed her fingers. "Depth perception seems a bit off, but that will just come with time, dear Lorelai.” Maria reassured gently, as Lorelai tucked it into her purse. "So Lorelai, are you ready?"
Lorelai paused, her arm coiled around Colt's it seemed, wanting to anchor herself there, keep herself as close to him as possible, before the brunette nodded, "I so am." she grinned, pausing, "Do my eyes move? I'm sure they are, but who knows." she gushed slightly, embarrassed almost as Maria gestured to Colt if he wanted to do it. How did she know that? She saw it! Squeezing his arm slightly with the excitement, Lorelai could barely contain the excitement, as Maria commented, "Try not to overload her too much today, Jason. No action flicks for awhile, and definitely nothing with strobe lights." Lorelai laughed gently, her fingers brushing Colt's arm gently, "We'll be good." Maria nodded gently, and added, "You're both free to go if you'd like, Lorelai, you know my cell phone if you ever need me." The hybrid nodded and looked towards Colt silently, "You wanna go somewhere? Anywhere?"

Colt watched Lorelai with barely contained glee. She just looked so god damned happy. Waving her fingers in front of her face, bouncing like a child... He could barely suppress the urge to lean down and kiss her. As it was, he didn't want to disturb her rejoicing so the werewolf remained a solid rock. Something to be snuggled up next to, yes, but he'd let her set the pace here. Besides, he seriously doubted that the doctor really wanted to see their canoodling.
He was shocked by the hand against his face, though that brought attention to Lorelai. Green eyes detected tears and one of his hands moved slowly to wipe them away with the pad of his thumb. "You're too beautiful to cry, you know." The werewolf said affectionately. "No sense in crying, Lorelai." Gods, she was pretty! He wondered idly if she even knew how attractive she was. Colt made a note in the back of his mind to point that out daily, on the off chance that she didn't already know.
Ah, there was his name. Although Colt could find no purpose to the sound, he reveled in it anyway. Such beautiful music! If he could only be granted one word from those lips, he'd do everything in his power to make sure it was his name. It sent shivers down his spine and filled his body with a delicious warmth. If only every experience could be like this. Trying to focus on something other than his sheer joy and attraction to Lorelai. Colt honed in on the doctor's instructions. No action flicks, no strobe lights? He chuckled lightly, finding one of Lorelai's hands with his own and entwining their fingers. A bold move, yes, but he felt all protective. "I'll take good care of her, Doc. I promise! Thanks so much"
Considering himself dismissed, Colt's eyes lit up when Lorelai asked to go somewhere. "I know the perfect places for you to test out this new skill of yours. Come with me." Of course she didn't really have an option, but the werewolf liked to think that his companion wasn't complaining about his company. He led them back outside to his motorcycle, got them both settled, then drove over to a nearby park. The trees rustled gently in a barely existent breeze. Little birds hopped about and pecked for seeds, squirrels skittered here and there. Colt guided them over to a park bench and turned his attention solely to Lorelai. "Well... Here we are. What do you see?"

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are She felt like such a child. A child that was new to the world or something, like she wasn't about to be 20 in a few days, but that she was about to turn 2. Lorelai could only imagine now what she'd be able to see. Now, if she moved, she would be able to see the movement of other things, or rather, the shadows. It could be compared, she supposed to someone being in a dark room, like a bedroom, and no light around. Then if they moved or something else did, like a pet, like Troy, they would be able to see it, and so could she. Though, how good would her eyesight be once it was all back? Neither of her parents wore glasses, though they were also killed before they got much older, so they might have needed them later on - so maybe she wouldn't need them for awhile if she did at all. The hybrid then heard Colt speak after she said his name, and she felt the tears vanish from her face with a gentle thumb. Smiling gently, the brunette mused, "Sorry." she shook them away, blinking them away. She didn't want to cry. Not in front of Colt. Not in front of him when it was like this. Why would she cry? Well, she'd cry for happiness, for joy, like right now, but otherwise she hated to cry anymore than she already had in the past decade of her life. This was a new beginning in a sense. She would be able to do whatever she felt like now it seemed, like she wouldn't have to depend on so many people anymore, though there weren't any colors or bright lights yet, Lorelai couldn't wait to be able to see what she had been able to see as a child. She had coiled her arms and snuggled back into Colt for a few more moments, mainly because she loved the feeling she got from that. A rush of protection, warmth, passion, and she felt like she belonged there.
The brunette grinned towards her doctor who then spoke, grinning, as she caught the slight movement from her facial features, causing Lorelai to grin excitedly back, "I trust you will, Jason. Say, give it three weeks, you all right with that, Lorelai to come back and try for more?" Lorelai nodded, "Yes, do you think I might gain more on my own, over the course of the weeks?" Lopez gave her a gentle pat on her shoulder and nodded, "Yes, it seems like you have a lot going for her." Her eyes rested on the male for a moment, as Lorelai and Colt stood up, Lorelai's hand intertwined with Colt's. She liked that. He felt like an anchor for her in this mad, crazy world. The hybrid gave it a gentle squeeze as they left Dr. Lopez's place, and she was whisked off to somewhere only Colt had in mind. Getting back on his bike had been easier, as she paused before getting on, seeing something like...what was that word? Ripples? Yes, she saw those, like...the energy. Wide-eyed, Lorelai's fingers brushed the seat for a moment with the helmet back on her head. "I can see...its energy." she gushed, whispering to herself, before she got back on, her hands falling instinctively now around his waist to hold her there.
As they arrived somewhere, the brunette frowned, casting a glance towards Colt as if to silently ask him where they were. As they sat down, she immediately realized all the sounds she saw. All this...movement. She braced herself, her hand intertwining itself with Colt's, as she held onto her anchor. It just felt right, and it reassured her. There would always be something constant in her world - she hoped. Had she fallen for him? Yeah, it could definitely be called that. Definitely more than just a crush now. Lorelai spoke, her eyes wide, though she then narrowed her eyes, it had gotten painful for a moment, "Is it sunny?" she could barely tell, though the movement was slightly easier to see, but not by much. Tilting her head, she pointed to their right, "What...are they doing?" her eyes went wide, following the fluid movement of the people, and something else...a ball? Then a hoop, "Is that what basketball is?" she grinned, pausing, "It's like I can remember some stuff, but like it's a dream." Her hand squeezed Colt's, "Kids playing on the playground." She inhaled slowly, taking it in, what did Colt see? He got to see the colors of the world, the simplicity of them she wanted to see, couldn't wait to see. "Someone walking their dog." she covered her mouth as if to hold in her hysteria of this excitement. Leaning slightly into Colt, Lorelai mused, "Thanks for bringing me here. It's...a perfect mixture." her eyes were drinking everything in, but there wasn't enough to the point where she felt like she'd go nuts. Tucking back some of her hair from her face, Lorelai fell silent, before looking towards Colt silently, "I do have a question...what color is the basketball? I mean...last time I saw one, it was white...with red stripes."

This was all too much, but in the absolute best sense. Only a day ago, the werewolf had met the most amazing woman. She was witty, super sweet, intelligent, beautiful.... but she was blind. Not that he minded at all, of course, but it was a very important attirbute to remember as it had shaped their initial meeting. She'd been there, with her guide dog... and it had been all he could do not to jump for joy. She was perfect! They went swimming... He might have gone a little crazy and kissed her, but god! That kiss! If he could remember one thing forever, it would be the feeling of her lips against his. It was heaven, if such a thing existed. She'd also given him a shell which was now looped around his neck on a necklace. The weight of it against his skin was comforting. And today? Today, he had escorted this beautiful woman to a therapist's appointment where he had been witness to her first glimpses of sight in a ridiculously long time. ....what a life.
Now, here he was. Sitting on a park bench, his hand clasped in hers, examining a world that was too familiar to his green eyes but so very new to hers. What did she see? What was different now? Colt listened with an amused grin as Lorelai catalogued what she could pick up. "Yes, it's sunny. Almost painfully so, actually." He squinted vaguely in the direction of the sun, then went on. "And that's basketball, yes. Though those guys aren't too good, but we'll forgive them that." Colt chuckled and squeezed her hand affectionately.
What? She was thanking him? "You're too sweet. No need to thank me. It seemed like a good idea at the time. Hope you like it." God, he wanted to hold her right here. Was that socially acceptable? Was that even acceptable in his own head? Of course, he was still clutching her hand. That was like a lifeline, something to keep him tethered to the world. That was comforting. 'What color's the basketball?" The question had thrown him for a loop. "Orange all over, with little black lines. That's what color a basketball usually is now, or at least American basketballs. That's the only color I've seen."
He paused, was quiet for a moment as he thought. "....Thank you for letting me come with you today. For letting me see that... Be a part of it. I think I understand a little better, you know?" He was quiet once more, mulling over the consequences. This silence only lasted a moment, though, because an idea had dawned. "Though your doctor is under the impression that I'm your boyfriend and that I take sole care of you. Such a shame that isn't quiiiiiiite true." Oh, so many jokes to make.. He left it there, though, and just grinned. His head had cocked itself slightly to the side and Colt was resisting laughter. Would they always have this much fun?
