And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Course she had heard wrong. She personally hadn't been expecting though, what came out of his mouth next. He sounded like he literally had a checklist for someone. Though when he mentioned "yourself" her curiosity definitely perked. Was he comparing her to someone he would prefer over her? Excuse me? She thought to herself stubbornly, before she heard his chuckle. God she liked his laugh. Very...refreshing would be a good word. Lorelai certainly enjoyed it, and she knew Troy was a fan of the man too, after all, he could hardly seem to get enough of him. Grinning gently, it faded as she listened keenly to what he had to say about someone he'd want to spend his life with. She understood - completely in fact. She didn't want to be with someone who was only with her for...whatever. It was nice to hear though, and the brunette listened intently to what he had to say. A supernatural and supernatural, humans and humans. She could understand she supposed about the humans with humans, that prevented hybrids. Curiously, she inquired, "So, you don't approve of human hybrids? Or hybrids in general?" she smiled gently, giving him a light wink, "I agree with you on those points, especially, I mean, you wouldn't want to be with someone who lied to you, or manipulated you for...whatever reason." she nodded solemnly, "It can be a pretty weird world." She shrugged lightly, though she knew. It was usually a horrible world. The civil wars in Africa, in Freetown, her hometown. Her eyes, she felt them shift down as she remembered the first time a riot broke out in town when she and Angel had been there when she was young. Pushing that memory away, she instead focused on making some with Jason. Why not?
"Don't you worry too much, I'm not afraid to let you know what I think." she smiled lightly, "I find it easier to say things, rather than, obviously write it, but as well as not to keep things hidden, you know?" she was curious to know what he thought, see what made him, him. After all, she could feel butterflies swelling in her stomach at the thought of spending more time with him. Then she felt like a little girl again, crushing on her first school-yard crush. She laughed at his comment about Troy and how he loved her and knew who he went home with. "That's right, he's been with me since he was a puppy, so he knows better." she giggled, brushing her fingers with Troy' tail for a few moments. The hybrid pondered, curious. It was so weird though, most of the time she wasn't like this, not with men at least. Usually she was a lot more hesitant to spend time with them, especially alone, maybe it was due to the fact Troy was with her. She wasn't alone, plus now she had her magic after being taught it and learning it over the past few years. How would it measure up against a werewolf? Enough to make sure she got away at least, but she highly doubted he would shift in public. Unless he was either extremely stupid - which he wasn't, he kept her on her toes, which was refreshing, or he broke down. That she highly doubted as well. He seemed stable enough, and he spoke of his sister fondly, which personally - she found adorable.
Suddenly as he spoke, she felt a quick flash of heat run through her body, and she personally hoped she wasn't blushing. "A heart breaker, hm?" she couldn't help but slightly tease, "I might need to keep an ear out for you." Instead of course using eye, she used ear. Made more sense, and Lorelai paused when she felt his hand on top of hers - obviously to help her find where he was. "I'd love to...well...I suppose go to your car sometime, sounds like she's beautiful." Lorelai commented. She stood up and Troy followed, her hand lingering with Jason's a moment longer then necessary, "I'd love to go with you." Troy whined eagerly as he fell next to her, the opposite side of where Jason was. He had a strong hand, and arm. Noting that, the young woman tilted her head carefully, and nodded to his comment, "That's good to know, I'll try and keep that in mind." she flashed a quick grin. Pacing herself with Jason, trusting both him and Troy to keep her with them easily between the two of them. "Do you usually strike up conversations with women at a coffee store? Or do you tend to just do what I do, wander and just find something to waste time?" she nodded gently, "Or at least, I hope you know you're way around, don't you?" she nudged him gently, "I'm sure you do, so how did you manage to get your car? Someone give it to you or what?" There, getting to know him, as she wanted to get to know him as best she could, and more.

Colt grinned easily. He knew he was charming but only used to it his advantage when there was easily something to gain. He'd seen an opportunity and taken a chance, which proved a smart move. Lorelai had agreed to walk with him, which meant the charm was a success. The werewolf swallowed a somewhat nervous laugh, which shocked him to the core. He was bothered, that much was obvious. He'd have to learn more, experience more to prove anything.
Ah, hybrids. A delicate subject, seeing as his target happened to be one. Luckily for the werewolf, she was a supernatural hybrid. All magic. That boded quite well for his following comment. "Oh, I don't mind hybrids. Especially since they're pretty." The tone of that comment gave away the purpose. He was flirting now, plain and simple. "Humans without any power are weak and easily injured. In a world where supernaturals exist, as we obviously do, they are not safe. They are obviously the prey, regardless of the intentions of either party." He shrugged, rather calm about the subject. He spoke truth, but it remained to be seen if the woman would take offense. He really hoped she wouldn't.
This was honestly a new experience for the werewolf. He felt almost jittery, way too nervous. His breathing was far too shallow and his heart pounded in his chest. This was what October would call a crush, he supposed. It was entirely unflattering for a grown man, much less a werewolf. He should be stronger, more controlled than this. Besides, the green eyed man was used to smiling and flirting and being charming. Normally, the women he decided to play with didn't play back. They stayed confused and compliant and went along with whatever he wanted. This one, Lorelai, fought back. It both intrigued and frightened him, rendering him unable to make a real decision on the correct way to proceed.
"That's what Tober calls me. A heartbreaker! Not my fault if that's what she calls me." He laughed again, unaware of her fascination with the sound. "I guess that might not be the best thing to say, but it's the truth. I like to flirt. As far as my car, she is beautiful. Definitely restored with care. I bought her in pretty poor condition from a dealership on the edge of time. The owner thought she was irredeemable. Boy, was that guy wrong!" He could recall the day fondly but if he got caught up in memories, he'd lose the chance to make new ones. Little did he know that she'd thought something similar only minutes earlier.
"Well, if you want the truth, I normally try not to plan my days. What happens, happens. It more spontaneous and beautiful that way. I was drawn to you because Troy bumped into me and I'm a dog person so I had to come say hi. Then you were just interesting. I had to stick around to find out more about you. This little walk is my way of getting to know you better." As he had mentioned earlier, Colt had a thing about honesty. He wasn't going to mince words or beat around the bush. "It's a nice day, so I thought you might enjoy the sun. Or I could buy you lunch, if you'd prefer. I know a great little place just around the corner."

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Flirting. Lorelai normally called people out on it, she liked to. She liked hearing their reactions, as they tended to be about the same, but always different in their own little way. How would Jason react? He had the confidence most men sought, so she could only figure that he really would react with some other flirting way, or just go with it. Maybe she should call him out on it and see what happened. But oh yes, he was flirting. The heartbreaker. That word rang in her ears annoyingly and the hybrid then pushed it away as she tilted her head slightly, before musing, "You do know I can't see myself, right?" she flashed a teasing grin, unable to resist, "But thank you." she'd take the compliment, might as well. She didn't really know what she looked like, and god forbid she freaked when she got her eyesight back. Should she tell Jason? She didn't want to randomly approach him and hug him without needing guidance by him or Troy. That probably wouldn't go well, but that wouldn't go well with her past either, the past that she wanted to keep hidden from him - for now. Dammit, Lorelai! She scolded herself! Pay attention to the conversation at hand, make new memories, besides, she was really beginning to enjoy Jason's company - more than she should. She drummed her fingers calmly on his arm that was linked with hers. Yes, he definitely did have strong arms, always a...nice thing, she thought quietly to herself. Hazel eyes lingered plainly over some things before the young woman mused lightly, "Hybrids are hybrids. I do happen to know a wonderful immortal-human, turns out he actually is just like an immortal, but he still has his soul. However that worked out." she shrugged. She didn't care, as long as the world kept spinning, and everyone got what they deserved in the end. It was called karma, and karma is glorious.
Tuning in as he explained his sister, Lorelai's ears picked up as he swapped to answer her question about his car. "Wow, I'm impressed with that, I could only imagine what it must have looked like before hand." she grinned reassuringly, oblivious to the fact of what was going on on Jason's head - for obvious reasons, one mainly because she wasn't a mind reader. There was a spell for that, but that would be a pain to do now. "Well...at least you're honest about it. Most guys, no offence, would deny it and claim they're perfect." Lorelai commented, amusement edging into her voice as she did so. It was true. She did appreciate Jason's honest, it was quite refreshing actually, doing well, the hybrid thought quietly, solemnly to herself. He certainly was doing much better than she had anticipated, and she found herself excited at the thought of getting his number - and seeing him again. Over time she'd gotten used to the keys on her phone, especially since she had one designed where there were slightly different buttons raised up on each one, allowing her to key in something, only a phone number obviously, and her phone would play it back to her, the number, if she wanted it to.
Lorelai paced herself with him, noticing their steps seemed to fall pretty well together with each other. How wonderful. The brunette listened to herself quietly as she heard him about dogs, "That's good to hear, though I think...I think I might know why." she emphasized, playing along with that for a brief moment. Hearing him mention lunch and all that fun stuff, the hybrid responded, "Well, let's not try to plan too much, then, yeah? I'm good with lunch when-ever you're hungry. I vote for that cafe around the corner though, sounds just fine to me." she smiled softly, her face pointed in front of her, as she didn't feel like turning her head and all that jazz - the view wouldn't be different for crying out loud. She felt Troy tug slightly for a second then he calmed himself as he padded along beside her, his harness proving to be nice, along with Jason's arm, she felt like she wouldn't have to worry about a bug coming too close to her. Tempted to run her hand through her hair, Lorelai stopped herself, since both her hands were busy anyway. "Ever been out of the country? Like for vacation or something? there, get to know him, see where he's been. What he's done and all that fun stuff. Lorelai threw a quick grin and mused, "I will tell you this...I wasn't born in the States." she didn't smile this time though, it pained to tell, but she felt like...she didn't want to hide from him. It felt...right, easy to tell him, be with him. Which was freaky, but wonderful at the same time.

"Well, of course you can't see yourself, pretty thing. I do remember you're blind. I'm playing escort, remember?Am I doing a good job? And you're welcome." Colt found this situation entirely attractive. He could flirt without being called out on it. His new conversation partner was beautiful and charming and she seemed to be enjoying herself. This really was going well.
He ignored the comment about the immortal-human hybrid. It wasn't worth the time to speak the words so the werewolf moved on to the comment about his car. "Oh, geez. She was a mess when I started with her, you know. Practically falling apart. It took two months but I got her all polished up and shiny. She runs perfectly. Have you noticed I've said this before? Just a hint. I'm super proud of my car." This last bit was said in a stage whisper for comedic effect, but was almost cut short by his laughter. He really did love his car, almost as much as he loved his sister. That was quite a lot of love for an inanimate object.
Perfection... The unattainable ideal. Of course everyone strove for it, but every single being, dead or alive, fell short of the mark. "Trying for perfection is pointless." The werewolf said with a scoff. "No one's ever going to achieve it. We're all going to fall short. That's a comforting thought, in my opinion. Therefore, no need to strive for it, you know?"
He was quiet for a moment, listening to the sound of their footsteps. In the quiet, he could only wonder what he done to end up in such a situation. Normally, he got the average ones. This one... this one could really be special. He wondered idly if Tober would like her before grinning at the mention of lunch. "Oh, great! I was hoping you'd say that. I know the owner and she'll give me free food. Family friend." He was amused by the weight of Lorelai's hand against his arm. He felt like a perfect gentleman, escorting the belle of the ball somewhere. His curiosity was peaked when she mentioned she wasn't from the States, but he could tell a taboo subject when he heard one. "No, I've been out of the country. I'd love to, though. You're from out of the States? That's really cool."
They didn't have far to walk, but Colt found himself wanting to stretch out every single second. When they arrived at the cafe, the owner was going to ask a bunch of questions that he didn't have answers for and/or didn't want to answer quite yet. This was easy. This was comfortable. If the truth was told, Colt didn't want to sacrifice this feeling for a sandwich quite yet. He was having too much fun. "Besides Troy, who is an obvious interest, what do you like? I don't think I ever returned that question."

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Lorelai couldn't help but go with it. It just flowed easily with Jason, she felt like she didn't need to worry about it at all with him. Tilting her head gently, listening to him respond, she couldn't help but giggle slightly before she then mused, "Yes, yes you are. I will admit I was worried for a second you and Troy might want to go two different ways, and end up with me in the middle." she laughed lightly. "No, don't you worry, you're doing a wonderful job." she reassured him. He was too. Their paces matched nicely - thank god, and he wasn't rushing this at all. More in fact, it felt like he was taking his time. Good, she wanted to spend as much time with him as possible. Wrinkling her nose slightly, Lorelai nibbled her bottom lip before suddenly she felt Jason shift. What the hell? He suddenly then whispered closer to her, obviously to get his point across that he really did love his car. Unable to hide the slight giggling, Lorelai shrugged her shoulder gently, playing, "No..." she said, sarcasm lacing her voice, "I had no idea." As she listened in about his comment on perfection, the brunette did agree to a point. She could totally see that logic though, with the whole thing about perfection, but in her head, what was perfection? The sun? Love? Perfection was all in the eye of the person who you asked to define it really. She knew people couldn't reach perfection, most people, humans and supernatural alike were greedy, blood-sucking bottom-feeders in her "modest" opinion, but Jason didn't need to know that. Didn't need to know why she had such a tainted opinion.
So lunch it was. Good, she was good with whatever Jason was good with honestly. Lorelai was laid-back with some things - or she liked to think anyway. Hearing him mention free food, the hybrid nodded, she'd still find a way to at least somewhat pay the person back for getting food from them. "Sounds nice." she commented lightly, "How long have you known this...owner?" she inquired curiously. It was nice to walk with him, she felt like she didn't need to be acting at all, just be who she was. Paranoid? Yeah, only a little bit, but who wasn't in this day and age? Especially with this Plague group coming through, and her initial panic had turned out to be nothing, but her dreams with the future always came during her nighttime slumbers as well, that or nightmares. Personally she preferred the future, less gore about her past, as well as it always looked promising - mostly. "Sierra Leone." she spoke calmly. There, at least that. She wouldn't say more, but she wanted Jason to get to know her, and therefore she could get to know him in return. And also see meet him again too. Perhaps for her birthday? Mmm...she wouldn't mind having him with her birthday. Definitely not.
She paused momentarily as Jason's arm vanished, and she heard a door open. Instinctively, Troy led her on through carefully as she followed him, relying on the dog to get her through as she entered what she could smell seemed like a very nice little cafe. One of those joints that wasn't a chain, her favorites. She liked the "mom and pop" places she called them. The ones where like a married couple owned it or something. Pausing as the duo sat down carefully, Lorelai grinned as Troy made himself comfortable beneath their table. Twirling her hair slightly behind her shoulders, she pondered for a moment at his returning the question. Her interests? Ouch. Hesitating, Lorelai mused, "Umm...definitely my classes...graduating soon, actually, in a year." she smiled ligihtly, "I would say swimming, I swim in the pool where I live a lot, people know I can't see, so they're always nice." she nodded gently, "I sing occasionally, and I also do some...acting on the side, usually commercials. I have one commercial that's over in Europe right now for a clothing line." Lorelai commented gently, fiddling with the hem of her shirt - mainly because she was nervous. Why was she nervous? She wanted to please Jason, she figured. Not please him, but not disappoint, like he was expecting something majorly horrible or something. Yeah right. Nudging Troy gently under the table to make sure he was there, Lorelai mused, "So how long have your parents been here, exactly? If you don't mind me asking."

Colt was relieved that Lorelai seemed to be okay with his work as an escort. He'd been worried that something ridiculous would go wrong. Perhaps the very situation she'd mentioned, that he and the dog would try to lead her in different directions, could have occurred and then he'd just be embarrassed. Fortunately, the Fates decided to leave his dignity in tact and everything seemed to be going smoothly. He was actually blushing lightly, but she couldn't see it. The werewolf was very, very thankful. He couldn't help but chuckle at her response to his little secret. Sense of humor was a definite plus, especially since October said that his jokes were kind of corny sometimes.
The werewolf thought back in his head to try and remember when he met the owner of the cafe. "If my memory serves me properly, she was one of the first people I met here in Manuka. My apartment's down the street a little way. So I walked down here a lot. Practically lived in this cafe for the first two weeks or so. She slipped me muffins. I like muffins." He gave a cheesy little grin that Lorelai couldn't see, though eh figured she could probably hear it in his voice.
They had arrived at the little cafe, it seemed. Colt separated himself briefly from his escort to hold the door open, trusting Troy to get her inside. "Hey Justine! I brought a guest." The older woman behind the counter looked up from her cash register and grinned. "Oh, kid... Who are you bringing to me?" Colt returned the grin and laughed somewhat awkwardly. "Justine, this is Lorelai. Lorelai, Justine. Can we sit?" The woman watched the pair for a moment before shrugging. "Sure. Sit wherever you want." The werewolf followed Lorelai to a table. As she played with her hair, he narrowly checked the impulse to reach out and brush a strand of that pretty long hair.
Once his hands were under control again, Colt drummed his fingers on the table. Sierra Leone.. He'd heard of the place. As far as her interests, the man found himself being almost painfully attentive. Every bit of information was like a gift. Swimming and singing... Made sense. She was a mermaid. Acting? That was interesting. "I'd love to hear you sing," He remarked quietly. "I'm sure your voice is lovely." That was a lovely little side thought.
"W-What? My parents...?" The concept of is parents in general was certainly a buzzkill. "They've been here about a month with Tober." That one sentence seemed to be all he was willing to say about it. "Now I know you can't see the menu, but this place is famous for its sandwiches and pastries. Justine can probably make you anything you want, if you just ask for it."

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Her fingers drummed against his arm gently, as she then heard him begin to speak about his apartment and how he met this woman. Ah, so just by chance of him coming here a lot. She understood. The brunette grinned gently, as she heard him explain about enjoying muffins and all of that. So he met her through living nearby. Lorelai understood, she knew that she had met Delma through a mutual friend, and she was personally glad for that, though she was beginning to wonder how good it might be if someone else happened to be with them, help keep an eye on the two blind, mermaids. Interesting enough, wasn't it? The brunette then paused and mused, "I'm sure she appreciates the continued business though. I'll be sure to mention this place to friends. What's it called?" she inquired lightly, since she figured there wouldn't be anything in Braille here, since that tended to be the "bigger" stores such as Arby's, Target and more. "You socialize with a lot of people then? A bit of a social floater?" she smiled lightly. She remembered being called a social butterfly in Freetown, between herself and the other women and people she interacted with before she escaped from the confines of the estate she had been a slave in. Shivering slightly, hoping Jason hadn't seen that, she was vividly aware of herself being introduced to someone. Molding a gentle smile onto her features, the brunette then smiled gently in the direction of this Justine's voice, "Pleasure, Justine."
Sitting down calmly, Lorelai tuned in to Jason quietly, wanting to hear every word he had to say. Then he spoke about wanting to hear her sing. She swore she felt a flush color her cheeks for a few moments. She certainly hoped that had only been a figment of her imagination. Knowing her luck, it probably hadn't been. "Well umm...I don't really sing too much except if I happen to find myself at a karaoke bar or something my friends tricked me into." she smiled gently, then adding, making it a point, "I wouldn't mind singing for you though, any songs you would want to hear specifically?" She laughed gently, "I know a few in Krio, one of my two native tongues if you wanted to hear that." she couldn't help but grin. It was nice to be able to speak that language, and give a call back to a few people she had befriended over in Sierra Leone before coming here, and becoming an official US citizen. Hell yeah.
The hybrid paused upon noticing the sudden change in Jason when it came to his parents. Much like her own past. She understood. Though she didn't have much time to dwell on that thought as he then pressed on to speak about the menu. Giving him a playful look, Lorelai mused, "I do have...other ways." she winked playfully, before she then ran her hand smoothly along the menu, her magic coursing along the surface, invisible to everyone but her senses as she allowed her magic to sense the ink and she was able to paint a picture of it in her mind. It strained her and gave her a headache, but it was getting better. "I can do that once in awhile, where I can paint a picture in my head about what's on the menu. The club should be wonderful." Lorelai nodded gently as she then paused, one of her hands on the table, she inquired, "This isn't typically a question people ask, for obvious reasons, but I want to know, are your eyes green or brown?" she flashed a grin. "Or, those are my guesses anyway." The hybrid smiled gently, keeping them off the subject of their parents, a touchy subject for both. That she was perfectly fine with. She wanted memories with Jason, and preferably wonderfully good ones if she could.

Colt had settled into his chair, crossing his right ankle to his left knee. He found it much easier to sort of lounge at tables, since his legs were so very long and lanky. "This is the Dinner Plate Cafe," He said with a laugh. "It just sounds so homey, doesn't it? I love it here." He was caught off guard by Lorelai's next comment, but it made him laugh. "I... uhh... guess you could say that. I know a lot of people, have a lot of acquaintances." Of course, very few of those acquaintances were actual friends. Colt was a friendly person, sure, but he certainly had some trust issues so he rarely allowed people close enough to call them friends. He didn't have to tell Lorelai this, though.
The werewolf noted her blush with distinct amusement. The flush really complimented her coloring and he found himself trying to figure out how to make that happen more often. Of course, he'd done it on accident this time but it was rather easy to to figure out what buttons to push. That was the game he played, after all. How to best compliment women. This time the trick was done out of a genuine desire so it didn't really count. "Doesn't matter what you sing," He mused idly. "Whatever you think would be best. Though I do think the Krio ones sound interesting. I don't believe I've heard that language at all." She seemed endless interesting. A mermaid-witch hybrid. Blind. From a foreign country. So interesting it was almost painful.
His eyes widened slightly as he observed the use of her magic. There were no visible signs which made the occurrence all the more impressive. "How did you...? Woah. That's really cool." The man remained shell shocked for a moment, just staring blankly at the menu in her hand. Behind him, Justine cleared her throat to take the order and Colt snapped to attention. "Oh. Right. Ordering. Miss Lorelai here with have the club and I'll take a cheeseburger with cheddar and pickles. The usual." Ah, the Wolfe traditional cheeseburger. He and Tober both adored it. Funny how they shared even food tastes.
Colt was startled once more by her question about his eyes. She was right. That was an odd question. Then again, most people could see what color his eyes were. "They're green." He said with a chuckle. "and my hair's kind of light brown. Sort of shaggy. Tober says I need a haircut." Again with the laugh. It was true. He probably did need a haircut, but Tober also said that chicks liked longer hair. That had been proved often enough that Colt didn't question her, but the statement amused him nonetheless. "May I ask why you decided green or brown and not blue?"

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Upon hearing the name, the Dinner Plate Cafe, Lorelai couldn't help but grin. That was adorable. She wanted to see it, god she hoped her therapy would allow her to see again. Though her therapist had told her it would also come with acceptance, and to stand up to the men who had slaughtered not only her family, but stole her childhood, her innocence, as well as the families and lives of countless others. "I like that." Lorelai grinned. She did, and Jason was right. It did sound homey in its own little way. "What colors does she have?" she grinned, and patted Troy, whose head had poked up for a brief moment, "I could just look through Troy's eyes, but he doesn't see colors." she teased lightly, and Troy leaned over to Jason and licked him before lying back down and relaxing, obviously going to grab a quick nap or something before anything. Though when she thought of singing him a song in her native country's popular language besides English, she wasn't sure what she could sing. There were definitely a few songs she could think of, hell, she'd even trained Troy to respond to words in Krio. Pausing, Lorelai muttered, "Troy, shake." [/i] In Krio, and the dog soon inched up and around to Lorelai as she held out her hand, palm up, and Troy gave her a shake, "He knows a few words." she smiled gently, before snapping her fingers to let Troy go ahead and get back beneath the table as he had been before. Brushing back some of her hair that had managed to escape her ears, the brunette listened in on Jason and she commented, "Umm..sure. Maybe later today or something." she grinned, giving a gentle shrug. "It's really only spoken by like..less than ten percent of the population." Lorelai mused gently, her parents having taught her and her older sister it so that they could be more...marketable if they decided to stay in Sierra Leone. Lorelai couldn't, not with those memories and the war it had and was still having in its own way. Now though, she hoped, thought she had finally found someone that she could relate to, not have to be scared of showing who she was, that she was proud to be different, and she knew Jason felt the same way. Her attention perked the moment she had heard someone approach their table, and seemed to wait for them. Justine perhaps? Had to be. Quickly mentally taking note of her foot steps and how they sounded and everything, the hybrid smiled gently towards Justine, "Thanks. Oh, and if you could, if I could get that without olives, if it comes with them. Thank you." she smiled gently, wanting to make sure she got off on a good note with Justine. "The usual...do you get other things too sometimes?" she inquired lightly, as they soon received their drinks. She ran her hand gently along the table, as if searching for something Jason's hand, but she just mused, "I sense the ink in the paper. It's a strain, but it works." she grinned fondly. "Do you mind if I ask...for...you werewolves, say, if you were to shift tonight, on a half moon I believe I heard, do you remember things? You still keep control these nights jut not on full moons?" She did keep her voice low, so only Jason could hear, and she knew he would be able to. The cafe wasn't all that loud, and she wasn't too worried about it. Lorelai did listen to his explanation of his eyes. So they were green, and shaggy hair. How long was shaggy? Whatever, it was shaggy nonetheless. Pausing, she inquired, "How long is shaggy?" she flashed a playful smile, plucking a lock of her dark hair and twirling it lazily around a finger, debating on how to answer his question, "I'm not sure, I just...got the vibe you had either the green or brown. Blue just...I didn't imagine you with blue eyes." she shrugged lightly, "I remember the Ocean in Freetown, when we went to the beach, it was so blue, and the algae sometimes was so green." she smiled weakly, "But I definitely just...couldn't see you with blue eyes." There, a little word play, as she smiled sheepishly, dropping her hand from playing with her hair. She never got nervous! This was weird, was she? Most likely a bit. Lorelai then inquired, "I feel like I'm dominating the conversation, sorry if I am attacking you with questions." the hybrid mused gently. Oh yes, she definitely needed to make sure to get his number soon, memories, oh memories, she told herself, it was time to make some new, wonderful ones. Colt took a moment to sit back and examine the situation he found himself in currently. He was sitting in one of his favorite restaurants, close to his apartment. His sister was safe and making friends in a new town. Across the table in his favorite restaurant sat a beautiful blind woman who seemed interested in him. Under the table, her guide dog seemed to be taking a nap. It was almost too much to stand.
He laughed aloud as Troy did his little trick before going to lay back down. "That is one smart dog you've got there, Lorelai." The werewolf chuckled under his breath. He was fond of animals in general, but dogs were a particular favorite for obvious reasons. They were similar creatures and that meant that they bonded together. He reached down and ruffled the dog's fur with a smile he was sweet. "And really? Ten percent of the population? That's even more impressive. I... speak English. And you know... canine." He chuckled quietly and glanced toward Justine. "And Justine heard you, even if she didn't answer."
Colt chuckled again at her question about the food. "Yeah, that's the usual. Sometimes, I bring Tober here and we almost always get that burger. Exactly like that too. Cheddar and pickles. Justine laughs at it. Says we're too much alike. When I don't get the burger, I like grilled cheese a lot and I sometimes get grilled chicken. On sour dough. Mm. Can you tell I like food?"
He caught slightly off guard with her question about shifting, but he tilted his head and considered. "Yeah. I could fully control myself if I were to shift. It would be painful, yes. It's always painful, but I'd know what was going on." His hand accidentally brushed Lorelai's and he sucked in a quick breath. There was that shock again. Crazy chemistry. It just ridiculous. If he was to tell October about it, it was almost a certain bet that she'd stay to ask the girl out on an official date, not just a random run-in sort of thing. The whole exchanging numbers, dressing up, 'I'll pick you up around eight' sort of date. After the whole of this run-in, the werewolf was heavily considering it.
"You just thought they'd be green or brown? Well, alright. I'll accept that as an answer. As far as how long shaggy is..." He was quiet for a moment, considering. "It's um... Almost shoulder length, I guess. Maybe an inch or two shy or shoulder length. Yeah. That sounds about right." The werewolf grinned at her comment about dominating the conversation. "I'm not bothered at all. I don't mind questions, though I do feel like I should be asking you questions back. Well, here's one, though this might be a little forward. Can I have your phone number? I've really enjoyed just... being around you. I'd like to see you again, actually plan something out. Maybe I could pick you up in my pretty car?" A charming grin and another head tilt. Waiting games were awful.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Lorelai knew Troy had heard the compliment that Jason gave to him, especially since he felt the slight nudge from Lorelai and the dog whined eagerly towards Jason, and nudged his hand, wanting to be petted. Grinning gently, the brunette nodded, "Thanks, I do hope he would be too of course, or else he wouldn't be my guide dog now." she teased, and reached down, her fingers brushing Troy's soft fur gently, "The best in his class from what I hear." Lorelai grinned and laughed lightly when he spoke about knowing English and then canine. Of course. Very funny. She did giggle though, and she commented, "I bet you're pretty good at it." she slid in a wink and waved her hand gently when he mentioned Justine, "No worries." The blind woman then shifted in her seat gently, especially when she thought she heard Jason shift across from her as well. He most likely did. Lacking a sense she had noticed, helped enhance her other senses over the past decade and some years. Apparently he liked food, most guys did, she had noticed over the past few years being in the States. Some "southern" ones too, as Bonnie called them, since one of her sons, who was about two years older than Lorelai lived in Georgia and visited them a few months after Lorelai had been taken in by Bonnie, and he practically ate her out of her house.
Either way, Lorelai found it adorable, typical, but most of all, definitely something she had learned about Jason and wanted to keep that stored away. "Sounds like it. I'll keep that in mind." she nodded gently. Using magic - a lot of magic - allowed her to make stuff once in awhile, instead of working around things and usually putting stuff into an oven or microwave for awhile. Her eyes shifted slightly as she focused on where Jason's voice was coming from, making sure she wasn't looking completely away from him. She had noticed people seemed to get...creeped off by that, just her listening to them and obviously holding a conversation, but not looking at them. Well, she couldn't see, imbeciles, she thought darkly. The hybrid remained calm and poised as she heard him explain his entire deal with shifting. So it was true, if Jason were to shift, say tonight or even later today, he would have full control of what he did, it was just the full moon time that he didn't get to have control or remember. "On a sclae of 1 to 10, how bad? And no, you can't say, 11." she grinned teasingly.
She honestly didn't mind dominating the conversation though, and as he explained his hair, her head fell to the side. It sounded like something she supposed she could see. Goodness, what would happen if, no, when she got her eyesight back? Her stomach dropped. What all had she been missing out on all these years? She'd definitely need to get used to seeing herself in the mornings, instead of just hoping her hair and everything looked okay. Which was why even though the most makeup she wore was some foundation she'd trained herself to put on just to make sure her skin tone was even. Otherwise, she only had on makeup if a friend happened to put some on for her. God she couldn't wait to see exactly what Jason looked like. Feeling butterflies swarm her stomach, the hybrid refused to let the emotion fall on her face - too much before she then hesitated when he suddenly stepped forward and asked for her number. She grinned lightly and nodded, "Course." she responded gently, producing her phone from her purse in its rightful pocket, and handing it over to him, "If you'd like, you can put your number in my phone if you'd like, and it will automatically give you a separate ringtone, though you can definitely just pick one for yourself." she smiled gently, feeling like she was a 10-year-old with a school yard crush. Feeling the heat color her cheeks again, getting her phone back, Lorelai then responded, "I'd really like to see you again too, Jason. I will tell you now, I'm just fine with about everything, that I'm allowed to do." she smiled gently, refusing to let the nerves get the best of her, though she knew she could feel slight blush coloring her cheeks. That's when then, Justine had brought them their food. Time seemed to fly with Jason. That was both nice and horrible at the same time, as she wanted to spend as much time with him as possible. Maybe the rest of her day. Carefully running her fingers over her plate to allow herself to "see" it, Lorelai grinned sheepishly towards Jason, "Maybe you could close your eyes and eat with them like that." she teased, grinning, "Just a thought." she teased softly, "So then, is October in high school or is she a freshman in college?" Since she had a feeling she'd like his sister, plus he loved her. It came down really to Lorelai wanting to know as much about Jason as possible.

Colt gave Troy the affection the dog was seeking, ruffling the dog's fur and mumbling a string of compliments to assure the dod that he was doing a good job. Although most people thought that animals couldn't understand humans, he knew animals (pets in particular) could very easily understand human speech and listened in to humans. "I'd imagine he was the best in his class since he takes care of you so well. I'm jealous." The werewolf chuckled and returned his attention to Lorelai. "Very good at speaking canine. You know... since I'm a dog at least once a month."
He snorted and shook his hair out. It was sort of weird to admit that out loud. Although the man wasn't exactly secretive about his being a werewolf, he didn't shout it from the rooftops either. It was sort of nice to be able to make jokes about his condition with someone other than his family or a member of the pack. His mind went into overdrive when she asked him to scale the pain of shifting. "Oh, damn. Cuz I was totally gonna say eleven." God, did Lorelai know how much he was enjoying the conversation? Did she realize how easy it was to joke with her? "Okay, okay. In all seriousness... I rate it consistently about an eight. I'd have worse pain a few times in my life, but it's certainly no cakewalk. I've also adjusted to it, after shifting more times than I can count."
Oh, that blush... Colt couldn't help but stare. It complimented her coloring just enough. Between that blush and those eyes of hers... No, no. No staring. He figured she'd probably be able to sense his gaze. Oh, wait. What did she just say? Did she just.... He was startled when Lorelai handed her phone over to him. He entered in his number and programmed in a ringtone, sending a quick text message to himself to get her number too. The werewolf flinched, though, when she called him Jason. That had to change. Quickly. Still, he kept his mouth shut and just listened to her. God, she was sweet too. This just kept getting better and better.
Justine brought the food and Colt thanked her. He glanced up at Lorelai's comment about eating with his eyes closed and chuckled. "Maybe I will. Just to be different." A full out grin spread over his features when they got back to October. "She's a junior this year. Got a bit of a late start, but she's a great student." The thought of his sister spawned a very strange mix of emotions in the werewolf. Tober always scolded him for his trust issues, always asked how he could hide his name from people when he was so insistent on honesty. The thought made him duck his head in embarrassment.
"I've got a confession to make," He said quietly, as he slid her phone back across the table. "Jason isn't really my name. I mean, it sort of is.... It's my middle name. I really prefer to go by my first name, but I have this weird thing about it. I can't let people I don't think I can trust use it. That being said... I cannot stand to hear you call me Jason. Please, forgive my weirdness, and call me Colt." There. Now it was out in the open. Though he fell silent after his confession and tried very hard not to feel anything, Colt found himself anxious to hear her say his name. What was that, anyway? Why should it matter? She's special. You know that... A voice whispered in the back of his head, but he ignored it. Stupid voices...

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are The hybrid heard the soft little whistle that Troy did when he was really loving the attention that he got. Which meant Jason had to be petting him, because she certainly wasn't. Good, usually Troy wasn't a fan of men, though Jason wasn't just a man, he was w strong, powerful werewolf, and Troy knew better than to invoke his rage. She couldn't help but grin as he said he was jealous. Jealous of what? Troy? He did sleep with her in her bed, but she definitely wasn't going to voice that, that sounded too...odd. But he didn't get to eat everything they did, or at least Lorelai claimed she never fed him human food - she did. The brunette laughed at his comment on speaking canine, she couldn't help it, she grinned innocently, "Of course. I'd imagine you'd be pretty good with dogs of all shapes and sizes." It was adorable, she liked his voice. Liked listening to it. To be honest she felt like she could go to sleep listening to him just humming or just talking about anything and everything. It was one of those voices where she'd love listening to it, but would also keep her listening forever. She blinked mildly, allowing the darkness to remain with her, the darkness she wasn't born with. The darkness that had claimed her eyesight when she was about 11. The first decade of her life had been all right, till she was 10, and her family was killed. Running a hand anxiously through her hair, she quickly then pushed those aside just as Jason spoke, cutting into her thoughts.
Good. Thank you, she mentally said. She hated when she did that. She hated it even more when it took time away from Jason. Hearing him joke, she grinned along, before he then spoke about getting this all done and the shifting pain. She grimaced slightly, "I'd still much prefer my tail over shifting I think." Lorelai grinned lightly, "No offense, but I'm used to it." Tilting her head, she inquired, "When did you first shift?" Running her fingers along the plate gently with her food to place everything on the plate in her mind, Lorelai then smiled innocently towards Jason before ripping a piece of chicken out of the club, and she then offered it to Troy, "Troy..." Troy quickly took it from her - but not hitting her fingers with his teeth, as he was always careful. "Don't tell anyone on me now." she teased. His sister sounded like she would be a good little sister. Well, she figured anyway. From what she'd heard, siblings could fight a lot - for whatever reason, but they could. Or maybe she just didn't get it because she and her sister didn't have that much time to fight when they got older. Wrinkling her nose at the past, she focused on making memories with Jason, definitely something she was aiming on doing. Hearing him slide her phone back to her, she carefully took it and replaced it back into her purse.
"Well, I'm going to trust you will close your eyes. Trust me, it's harder than you think. Do this though," she gestured with her hand, "That way you don't take a bit of potatoes thinking it will be your slice of pizza or something." she smiled fondly, "Sounds like your sister has a good role model in her life though." she mused solemnly. The brunette worked on her side and her club, as she fell silent when he said he had a confession. On what? Was he not real? She certainly hoped not, or she'd be pissed, then check herself into a psych ward. Jason wasn't his name? Colt? The hybrid frowned, confusion etching onto her face. Wasn't he the one to talk about honesty and being yourself with someone else? Scowling slightly for a brief moment, she nevertheless wiped those emotions from her face quickly and instead remained neutral, running her fingers along the top of her drink, letting the silence envelope them for a few moments. So his real name was Colt. Well, his first name, his middle name was Jason. It was technically a lie in some sense of the word, but otherwise, not really. Lorelai pursed her lips thoughtfully, wishing she could give Colt now, not Jason a light look. She could, but it could probably literally mean something else. After all, her memories rested with those of a 10 year old for visual cues and not a 20-year-old's. Remaining silent for a moment, Lorelai then spoke, lifting her head, "Colt?" She tried it out. It did sound better than Jason for him. After all she had had a feeling that his name couldn't be Jason. Or something. "So then when I introduce you to people, what should I call you?" Not by her boyfriend or anything, she hoped he got, but whether or not to call him Jason or Colt. She'd forgive him, it was only a name after all in her words. She'd recognize his voice anywhere, it was fine with her, more for the people to remember him. She knew she wouldn't have any problem remembering Jason Colt though. Yes, it definitely sounded better. "Colt.." she let it roll off her tongue, it definitely rolled better, "Suits you."

Colt thought for a moment, remembering various experiences he had had with canines. There had been many, to be honest. They had always been drawn to him, wanting his attention. His whole family was just a draw for dogs. They'd always had a pack of wild dogs that lived around their house, the numbers interspersed with escaped pets and the occasional wolf or coyote. "I have an aunt who has both Great Danes and tea cup poodles. The dogs hated most people but god, did they love me and Tober. They'd fall over themselves to greet us when we came to visit." He chuckled recalling thumping tails and excited barking. "I'm just glad that Troy seems to like me. It'd be pretty hard to get close to you if your guide dog didn't like me for some reason." Oh, he was a sneaky one. Flirting, letting his intentions for their relationship be known. Of course, he'd snuck that little tidbit in. That was a particular skill of his, and the werewolf found it all rather amusing.
He raised an eyebrow ever so slightly when Lorelai mentioned her tail. Ah, that was something he meant to ask about. But first... to answer her question about shifting. "When did I first shift, huh? I was little... really little... I don't remember much about it other than the fear of waking up. Naked and covered in blood. That happens far too much for any werewolf's comfort. My parents told me everything and I.. well, I was sort of traumatized for a while. Adjusted, though. I mean... as much as someone can adjust to having every bone in their body broken and knitting themselves into another form at least once a month." he was unaware of Lorelai's mini-obsession with his voice. If he had any sort of inkling, the man would have talked continuously to keep her attention. Instead, he observed the moment of affection between owner and pet then spoke. "But enough about me being an animal. What's it like to be a mermaid? Mythical voice and beauty and all?"
A small smile twitched at his lips when she once again mentioned eating with his eyes closed. He'd do it eventually, just not when he'd be wasting precious staring time. He was unnerved by the woman's reaction to his name, though. She'd tried to hide the emotion but he'd caught it for sure. She was bothered by his hiding his true name. "I know, I know. I'm such a hypocrite. It's the just that I've really gotta think I can trust someone before I'll let them call me-" He was interrupted by Lorelai sounding out his name. The werewolf stopped in the middle of his sentence, awed by the way his simple name sounded on her tongue. Like music, like beautiful angelic music. How was that even possible?
The werewolf tried to cover his amazement with a tease. 'Well, you could call me handsome or charming or witty or smart. You could call me.... your friend. As far as my name, though, I'd prefer you introduce me as Jason. Only special people get to use my first name." That voice in his head whispered its approval and Colt resisted a shiver. Would she realize what he was trying to imply? He'd said it several times now. Only special people he had to be able to trust. Was that clear enough? Lips parted slightly and he sighed at the sound of his name again. 'Well, thank you." He responded softly, voice uncharacteristically sweet. "I happen to think yours is rather lovely. I could say it forever. So exotic."

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are The hybrid tuned in as the newly named Colt now, shifted. She liked listening in on every sound that he made, his breathing, and the shuffle he did if he happened to move. Working on her sandwich, she grinned fondly as he mused about his aunt's dog and how they'd greet him and Tober. "They do say dogs are good judges of character." she shrugged lightly as Troy then rested his head on Lorelai's knee. The young woman fell silent as he then opened his mouth once more and he spoke about the dog not liking him. She frowned for a brief moment upon caching the sound of him saying getting close. Oh, sneaky Colt. He did know how to flirt. God, she had hardly ever flirted, she would appear like a train wreck next to Colt. The mermaid-witch gave him a knowing smile as she then lifted her cup to her lips, took a quick drink before she commented, picking her words carefully, "I'm sure I'd find a way for Troy to get comfortable with it." Aha, return the word play a bit. Like hell she could. Lorelai could easily do that if she desired to, and with Jason, she certainly did. The woman tilted her head softly towards him, some hair escaping her ears and falling down by her face as she did so, but she didn't bother to brush it back. It wasn't like it was blocking her from seeing him or anything. She then nibbled her bottom lip when he mentioned his shifting. So from that she could assume born werewolves shifted when they were young, "Well....when you put it like that." she grimaced, shaking her head slightly. "I couldn't imagine going through that. Not to mention I don't think I'd be the...most graceful hiker." she smiled weakly.
Then, the question. Like to be a mermaid? Nothing that much, she did catch the flirting. "Charmer." she called him on it, giving him a light grin, before she shrugged, "It's....nice. The water's just...wonderful, peaceful. I don't tend to really go into the ocean that much, for obvious reasons. Therefore it's usually the tub." she shrugged, "I like it though...I love it. Plus from what I hear my tail isn't just one color." she smiled fondly. "What color are you when you shift? The same as your hair?" She figured yes, but she wanted to make sure. Keep the topic between the two of them, so she still got to hear his voice. Listening to it explain his name situation, she wagged a finger in his direction, "Now, now, Colt." she grinned innocently, "You behave over there now." she winked, as Tory lifted his head off her knee and then shifted to Colt's, attempting to get food out of him. "Troy's trying your knee now, isn't he?" Lorelai smiled lightly. Pausing, she then hesitated, before putting on her "mermaid" voice as she called it, "Colt, would you ever lie to me?" The best part - it never failed on men, and it always got them to do what they wanted. Most of the time, she just did it to make sure she could get away with something, but with Colt, she just wanted to know if he would ever lie. Nothing horrible, and she wasn't assuming, she was just curious, and Lorelai grinned weakly, "I promise, I won't use that." she reassured softly.
Mulling over his name thing in her head, she heard the explanation. So, introduce him as Jason. Interesting enough. She'd let him deal with it if someone heard her call him Colt. They could account it into being a nickname for him or something. Nevertheless, Lorelai felt the blush creep up her neck once more and she hoped Colt hadn't seen it. Damn him. Damn him for knowing exactly what to say to get that blush to come back. Or he knew what he had to do to get that out of her. Most likely the latter. The sly dog, she thought, an amused look falling on her features. "Oh, I feel so very lucky then." she commented, a slight serious tone edging into her voice, as she toyed with her food for a moment. She wanted to tell Colt about the therapy, but that would mean getting into her past, and she didn't want to do that. Not right now. Not when she was having this much fun. Rolling his name around her tongue was easy, and it was so wonderful to say, like...chocolate on her tongue, she figured. She just really liked it. Grinning at the compliment on her name, she nodded, "Thank you." she tucked her leg underneath her fr a moment. "So...Colt." she started, she loved his name. She loved saying it, letting it roll off her tongue, "How much would you fight me, and Justine too if I left at least a little to cover my food part?"

Colt chuckled under his breath when she mentioned that dogs were good judges of character. "We're right, of course. They are pretty good judges of character. That does apply to all dogs, though. Even one who are human some of the time." He had thought about that one for a very long time. People said those sort of things frequently and he always tried to see if those sayings applied to werewolves too. They usually did, which he found incredibly interesting. Lorelai caught him entirely off guard when she fired a comment back at him. The smile that had previously only twitched at his lips became a full blown smirk. "Oh, really now? Do you think you could do that for me? Figure out a way for Troy to be okay with it, I mean. I'd sure hate to get a friend all upset."
Charmer.... Yeah. He was a charmer, if he was anything. The werewolf was amused that she said that sort of thing aloud, though. The mermaid had spunk and that was the sort of thing he really appreciated in a woman. It was such a plus if his target could banter right back. While Lorelai didn't quite seem the type, Colt figured that if he kept at her... She'd figure out how to respond. That thought made him chuckle once more. She was really turning out to be fun. His attention was snagged, though, when she began to speak about being a mermaid. The mental image was visually stunning. Colt could almost see her with a tail, a tail that apparently was more than one color. That sounded absolutely beautiful. "I'd certainly love to see your mermaid form," He said easily. "Sounds absolutely beautiful."
The sound of her true voice struck Colt like a lightning bolt. If she had been able to see the effects, there were immediately. His eyes glazed over ever so slight and when he spoke, his voice was almost dreamily slurred. "I would never lie to you. Honesty if so important. You could ask me anything, I'd give you all the answers and secrets. I'd never willingly hurt you. You're much too pretty." It was as if the spell had worked like a truth serum. He was speaking completely freely, easily as if he had no cares in the world. The spell lasted for only a moment longer than he spoke, though. The werewolf snapped back to attention and it was as if he'd never answered her question.
"You should feel lucky." He quipped easily. "Like I said, special people only. It's like a country club or something." That probably sounded a little arrogant. Ah well. His ears perked up at the sound of his name again. Still like music, still so exotic. The question that followed drew one more chuckle. "You are a stubborn one, aren't you? Well, I won't fight you if you insist. I'm okay with it, I suppose Justine would be okay too." Such an interesting woman, that was for sure.
