And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Her alarm clock had gone off too early for a day off, though she got up anyway, seeing as she was already up, and she was wanting to just...explore today. Her roomies, two other girls who happened to be mermaids, and both blind. Yeah, three girls in one house, all blind? Probably not the best thing, but they got along and we're good friends. She was the only one who had a guide animal, a guide dog who happened to be tailing her to the bathroom as she stroked his head gently then grabbed a quick shower. She had done what one of her friends, London had suggested and when she had been over, she and her had constructed specific outfits for her to wear, and they rested on a hanger together, so that when she dared to, she could grab one of those nicely-put together outfits for herself. Just to make herself feel better. Leaving her hair to fall and curl up slightly into the natural waves, blank hazel eyes blinked as she grinned towards Troy's footsteps, "C'mon boy, chow down, let's go." she mused gently, not wanting to wake up her roommates. They had a system that if one of them wasn't there, there happened to be a little machine that typed braille and therefore allowed them to quickly leave a note for someone to step on or hit when they woke up. Which was what she did, as she headed back to Delma's room, and with quick, practiced hands, taped the paper up to her height on her chin, which would hit Delma right in the face. Delma was shorter than her of course, mainly because she was 5'9" to begin with. Often times Bonnie had offered for her to do some modeling, but she'd never gotten into it, mainly because it reminded her too much of Sierra Leone.
Grabbing Troy's harness, she gently set it up on him, as he whined eagerly. The hybrid giggled, "Let's go Troy." She could use a stick, but the dog was so much better, so well-behaved and he was allowed everywhere, she couldn't go anywhere really without him unless she took the stick, which she only preferred if there also happened to be someone else with her. Besides, Troy was good, and recognized when to stop at crosswalks and all that. Regardless, she exited the house, carefully locking it before she headed into the heart of the city on foot. She obviously couldn't drive, and a taxi was out of the question as she figured they wouldn't appreciate the drool Troy might leave behind after sticking his head out the window. Besides, walking was always nice to begin with. Running a hand quickly through her hair, she yelped slightly as Troy whined and jerked slightly, and she personally hoped she hadn't drawn more attention to herself. Feeling Troy nudge someone, she apologized, "Sorry." before she then frowned, as she smelled a coffee shop. Heading in that direction with Troy, she relied on him then as she picked out her sunglasses, placing them on her nose. She honestly wasn't sure what was going on, as the young woman brushed past someone, and she knew it was at least...somewhat sunny out due to the warmth she felt. Or so she hoped. Managing to get to a table outside the coffee shop, she wondered if she should brave it or not.
Most likely not. She didn't want to worry about it. Groaning softly, she then set down Troy's harness, telling him to stay. Goodness, suddenly, Troy's leash vanished. What? He never ran off unless there was a cat on the ground nearby. Who the hell would bring a cat? Growling, the young woman quickly unleashed her magic, and an invisible force seemed to slam itself onto the dog's leash, stopping him in his tracks about five feet from her. Hesitating, she spoke, calling the dog, "Troy!" The dog whined lightly, his tongue lolling out of his mouth, but he soon returned to her, mostly because there was something pulling on his collar, by her magic, not his leash to make it look more realistic. Patting Troy, her head sagged as she scolded him gently, before holding onto the leash, as Troy curled up by her.

Damn. Awake... Colt thought to himself as his eyes fluttered open for the first time of the day. It wasn't quite his ideal wake-up time, but it would have to do because he was good and coherent now. Damn again. With a sigh, he was out of bed and running a hand through his shaggy hair. "Good morning, world." He mumbled to no one. After a few moments, he had dressed himself and was slipping out of his room. Unfortunately, his younger sister was crashing on the couch and he'd completely forgotten. Cursing himself mentally, Colt hopped his way around the living room, trying to get out of the apartment without waking his sister. Luckily, grace was with the werewolf this morning and he shut the front door to the apartment with an inaudible click.
Well, good morning indeed. He'd made it out without waking up Tober, which was awesome. Even more awesome was the fact that sunlight wasn't incredibly bright. Life was good when he could e out in the daytime without needing sunglasses. The air was fresh and the wind was blowing softly. It made the werewolf smile. Beautiful weather.
He had been minding his own business, hands stuffed into the pockets of his omni-present leather jacket, when a dog had all but bumped into him. Colt tipped his head to the side. "Hm? What do you want?" He then noted that the dog was attached to a woman via a leash and he relaxed slightly. "And who are you?" The woman didn't seem to hear him. Odd. If she was walking about with a dog, that meant this mystery woman was probably blind. That was intriguing, for sure. She seemed to headed toward the coffee shop down the street. Interesting.
Colt held back to watch the woman and her dog as they headed down the street. Unfortunately, the dog had noted his canine qualities. Perhaps his clothes smelled like wolf... As soon as the woman put the dog's leash down, the animal tore in his direction and Colt was tempted to show the dog who was boss. The owner, however, caught the dog before he got to far and Colt smirked. Magic. Even more interesting.
Making enough noise to be sure that the woman could hear him, Colt approached. "Hi. Um. That's a nice dog you've got there. He seems friendly." Nonthreatening and easy to respond to. Excellent way to start...

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Sighing as Troy had come back to her, though mostly not by choice, her eyes shifted gently behind the dark sunglasses. She wore them on purpose, her eyes still moved like she could see, due to her type of blindness, but she still preferred them, they just went with the whole look she'd been told of too. Troy whined, though his hackles rose cautiously when someone approached her. Frowning slightly, the brunette stroked Troy gently, hushing the dog lightly as she tilted her head, her hearing tuning in when she heard someone approaching her. Cocking an eyebrow curiously, she checked Troy's mouth. Good. Nothing. The hybrid then leaned up when the footsteps got closer, and she straightened up, looking behind her sunglasses towards the newcomer. Obviously a male. A soft grin molded over her features as she heard him then speak. Her dog, Troy? Yeah right, she mentally responded. Sometimes. He was a good dog, but he had been horribly stubborn when he wanted his treats while she and he had first become partners. Now, he was the best dog she could have asked for, save for that random outburst, she wondered why her dog seemed to curious to want to meet this guy. His tail was still wagging, hitting her leg it felt like twice a second because Troy was excited. "He is. But generally not this excited. Sure you don't have dog treats?" she grinned lightly as Troy stood up, whining.
Letting go of the harness slightly, the young woman allowed Troy to go ahead and approach this male, who based on if she was right about how close Troy was, the male wasn't too far either. Troy whined, wanting to meet this male, obviously smelling like a dog, a wolf, a canine he wanted to befriend, wanting to be sure he wouldn't need to worry about a fight between the two of them, instincts taking over. She gestured to her table, "Feel free to sit, I think I ran into another chair when I came to this one." she laughed weakly, as Troy licked the man's hand gently, "His name's Troy." she mused gently, curious. It was weird, Troy was always friendly around people, but he usually stayed by her side, never wanting to actually go up to someone and say hi to them like he was doing now. Pushing her sunglasses up her nose, she held out her right hand, a small smile on her face, "I'm Lorelai, I apologize for not seeking out your hand." she smiled sheepishly, once they shook hands, a soft spark traveled along her arm before she then set her hand back down, "I'm sorry now if he happens to drool a bit on you."

Colt couldn't help but smile. Both the dog and the woman seemed interesting. The weather was beautiful and the coffee smelled good. Seemed like a good way to spend a day to the werewolf. Maybe even his lucky day. He'd take a seat and make conversation since the woman didn't seem vapid. But first... This dog. He'd need to prove he wasn't a threat.
The werewolf crouched down to be on the dog's level. Eye to eye, he held still for just a moment. "Troy, huh? He probably smells dog on me. And I'm sure I don't have treats. I'd give him one if I did. Seems like he should be spoiled." Colt extended his hand to the dog to be smelled and waited for the appropriate greetings. "Oh, don't worry about the drool thing. Doesn't bother me at all. I love dogs." Ha! That was amusing. If only he could say why.
When he'd given the dog enough time, he petted the dog's head and rose. Upon being invited to the table, Colt grinned. Score! He pulled out the chair the woman had mentioned and took a seat. "Lorelai... That's a lovely name. Oh, don't worry about it." He took her extended hand and shook it firmly, somewhat surprised at a brief shock he experienced. Must be static from the dog's fur or something like that. "I'm..." A brief mental struggle over what to say his name was. "...Jason. My name's Jason. It's a privilege to be invited to sit with you. Can I get you anything?" He jerked his thumb in the direction of the shop and gave her a warm smile. Of course she couldn't see it, but he didn't know that.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are The brunette grinned softly upon hearing Troy's eager whines towards the male that had approached the two of them. Arching an eyebrow gently behind her sunglasses, the brunette then mused gently as she adjusted the designed harness on Troy while he sniffed this guy's hand. She was curious to know what he looked like. Though that usually wasn't the first thing she asked someone upon first meeting them, "can I touch your face?" definitely an ice-breaker if they didn't deem her as horribly awkward or weird. Feeling Troy tug, she just released him fully as he then licked the male's hand. The dog was eager to please this male, he had the instincts kicking in, telling him this man was something else. But at least something he recognized. "I'll admit though, I spoil him enough, I'm not sure spoiling him more would do. He might stop listening to me." she flashed a grin. He loved dogs. Wonderful. Now she wondered if he was taken. Laughing softly to herself at this thought, Lorelai then shifted gently, carefully moving as she did so, as to not make a fool of herself before she blinked calmly, "That's good to hear, Troy always loves friends." The young woman commented. Yes, definitely a plus. Though it was weird, he rarely acted this super-friendly around every male that walked by. He usually ignored them. Why was this guy different? Curiously, she pushed forward, at least wanting to get a name out of this guy. Then a slight pause she noticed, as he attempted to see about his name. Was it a lie?
She'd grown accustomed to hearing different tones without her eyesight, and from what she could tell, he had chosen this name over another one. He wasn't lying from what she could tell, which was at least a plus. Plus a bit of magic to confirm that didn't hurt either. "Nice to meet you, Jason." They shook hands and she ignored the light spark that felt like it traveled between the two of them. She ignored the warmth and strength of his hand, not wanting to freak out in the middle of public. Her nightmares had faded to memories now, thanks to therapy and Bonnie, but there was always that part of her that feared this whole thing. She refused to let it get ahold of her thoughts, especially from potentially meeting someone she could really care about. Someone she wouldn't be afraid to show who she was, and for them to show who they were to her. One thing she wanted, was to share the excitement of the prospect of with this therapy, now that her nightmares were gone, to start gaining her eyesight. Personally she hoped it would slowly come back, instead of all at once. Shivering slightly at this, she then heard him inquire about getting her anything.
Arching an eyebrow playfully, she mused, "I'm actually here to take up their table, originally, but coffee would be nice." she reached swiftly into the pocket in her purse, and produced her wallet, "Don't worry, I'm more than happy to pay." her voice stated firmly, "Really." she emphasized, eyes locking in on where she judged he was, though behind her sunglasses it could seem like she was really looking at him. Her fingers brushed over the different clips she had in her wallet, and landed on the ten-dollar bill one. Pulling one out, she waited for him to take the money, though her mind told her he probably wouldn't, after all - he'd offer. But hey, she could pay for herself. Lorelai felt Troy then lie down perfectly between her and this newcomer, Jason. Interesting, common name. But a name nonetheless, as she let him do what he pleased, she stuffed her wallet back into her purse. "Well...when you get back, I'd like to know where you're originally from." she flashed a short grin. He wouldn't be gone long, she figured only a minute or so.

So here he was. Sitting at a table outside of a coffee shop with a beautiful woman and her dog, making small talk on a gorgeous day. It really couldn't get better than this, could it? Colt could tell that she thought it was odd that the dog was responding so well. The werewolf thought it was rather amusing, actually. The dog, Troy he seemed to be called, was simply responding the scent of another canine. Colt was older and bigger, therefore he'd take Alpha status. The smaller dog was trying to appease the leader, make new friends. As long as Troy behaved well, the two dogs could be friends. In fact, he sort of wished the dog would sit a little closer. It was nice to have a friend in an unfamiliar situation, though it was doubtful Troy would choose a new dog over his master.
Green eyes flicked up to the woman across the table. In addition to a musical name, she was extremely attractive and there seemed to be a serious spark of chemistry. What kind of day was this? "Also very nice to meet you, Lorelai. Have I mentioned that's a gorgeous name? Flows so beautifully." He somehow managed to be complimentary without sounding sleazy. It was a delicate balance that Colt prided himself in keeping constantly. A gentleman but still a flirt. Chivalrous but fun. Under the table, Colt tapped his chair to try and draw the dog's attention.
Oh, she was going to send him for drinks? That could be done. "You're quite clever." He commented quietly. She pushed money toward him and his green eyes widened. "Oh, absolutely not. The man always pays." He chuckled deep in his throat and patted her hand gently. "No, really. I've got it. Don't even worry. I'll be back like two minutes and I'll answer that question for you."
Just like that, he was up from the table and going to get the coffee. He ordered two black coffees, but picked up a handful of cream and sugar just in case. As he'd predicted, it had taken no time at all to get back to the table. "Coffee, m'lady. Black. I hope that's oay. If it's not, I brought some cream and sugar. I like mine just a little sweet." Again, with the chuckle. Despite himself, Colt found a small smile twisting his lips. This day just continued to surprise him.
"Now for that question. Where I'm from originally, huh? That'd be the middle of nowhere. Beyond that, it's not important. Moved here to Manuka to get away from my parents. My little sister had some trouble, but now they're all here." Just the thought of October made the little smile become a grin. "How about you?'

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Keenly keeping her attention on this Jason, Lorelai heard him or so she thought it was him, tap his chair in order to get someone's attention - most likely Troy's. The dog eagerly answered. He jumped up as if he were on a spring and nudged his head under the man's hand, whining to be petted, sitting down by him. Lorelai shook her head gently, reaching out slightly with her foot to feel Troy's tail wagging as fast as an electron shot around an atom, "Oh, thank you. You can feel free to shorten it if you dare." she teased, "Though I will not answer to Rory." her nose wrinkled slightly, before she then shook her head, gesturing to the vicinity Troy was in, knowing he was there based on his tail hitting her foot, "Don't go turning my dog against me." The brunette laughed. Goodness, this day was turning out to be nice, and Jason from his voice, couldn't be too much older than her, she figured no older than 24 or so. Though she could be completely off, but he didn't sound like he was in his 30s or anything older than that, where it would get weird. At least Troy seemed to like him, so that was a plus for this man. She was tempted to call him out on the light flirting he was doing, she wanted to, but her heart smacked her sarcastic side. Telling her not to do it, the guy seemed nice enough, but then again, so could they all. Her eyes narrowed slightly, though Jason wouldn't see that, he couldn't see her eyes and she didn't really plan on him doing so either. At least not right now. Let him get to know her first.
Lorelai's face contorted into mild mock annoyance and playfulness as he declined the money, claiming the man always paid. Oh really? Was he pulling that card on her now? Feeling him pat her hand, Lorelai scoffed lightly, wagging her finger towards his direction from his voice, "Don't think you got away with that. I'll make sure to get you back." That of course, she'd leave for him to decide what she meant, either by paying him back or making sure to buy him something to pay him back that way. Or even a way to poke a bit of fun at him, mainly because she could. Lorelai gently tugged on Troy's harness, and the golden retriever licked her hand gently, as she remained with him, hearing her phone vibrate in her pocket. She didn't bother to answer it, she was too busy imagining what Jason looked like. She could vaguely remember a few members of Amnesty International when she was in Sierra Leone, their skin like hers and her parents', their brown hair. Did he have brown hair? What color were his eyes? She bet green or brown. One of those. Damn, she wanted to know! Huffing slightly, she looked up in surprise when Jason returned, and set down the cup. Damn, she hadn't gotten it from him.
Panic settled into her stomach. The coffee cup was somewhere near her, she assumed. She liked to think she was pretty good at faking being able to see, though usually Troy with the harness tended to give it away, it was also her mannerisms that gave it away too. If Jason had noticed, she did appreciate it that he didn't ask her right off the bat. That tended to get annoying, the whole appeal thing going on. Toying with the ends of her hair nervously, she laughed lightly as Troy then left her and set his muzzle down on the male's leg, unseen to Lorelai obviously. She listened to him explain about himself, and then a sister. Envy streaked through her at the thought of her sister. She tensed the moment he asked her. Damn, she hadn't thought about him reversing the question. Idiot, she scolded herself. Lorelai raised her hand and placed it cautiously on the table, carefully reaching out with her magic to allow her to be able to sense where the cup was. Upon brushing it with her fingertip, she caught it, and she spoke, "What's your little sister's name?" She was a little sister, her older sister, Angelica, Angel had been her nickname.
Her head shifted down slightly and her grip tightened on the cup. A spark of magic flew from her hand on her lap and to the ground, where it danced for a split second before disappearing. It could have been a trick on the eyes to any human around, but probably not a werewolf. But she didn't know that. "I...used to have an older sister." she spoke calmly, her Krio accent slipping in for a moment before it suddenly vanished, "I...only have my aunt, Bonnie." she spoke gently, "Lost my parents and older sister, I was brought here." she raised her head, her eyes shifting, searching in the darkness. Therapy promised her sight within awhile, she wanted to be able to see this Jason, to be able to look him in the eye, to see what he looked like. The brunette brushed her hair behind her double-pierced ears, "You go to school here then? Or graduated already?" she inquired gently, attempting to get off that subject.

"Shortening that gorgeous name? Wouldn't dream of it. And who would call you Rory? That doesn't even make sense!" Colt couldn't help but chuckle at Troy. The dog was cute and trying to win his affection. He got points for that anyway. "I also would never dream of trying to turn Troy against you. He seems super loyal. I'm just... kind of attractive to dogs, I guess."
He had firmly ignored the comment about paying. He had been raised to be a man and that meant being chivalrous. The man paid for most things, opened doors, and generally took care of the ladies around him. This was not done to demean women or insult them. The actions were based out of a desire to respect women for the beautiful creatures they were. Besides, if someone really pestered him about it, the werewolf had been known to let up on the more annoying signs like insisting on paying for the bill. Lorelai seemed the type to protest. He'd have to keep an eye on her.
"What's my sister's name? October. She's seriously the cutest thing on the face of the planet." It was easy to tell that the man adored his little sister. Without her, life would lose all meaning. He was startled out of his thoughts by a spark. Speaking of keeping eyes on his conversation partner, Colt's attention was drawn away from petting Troy by a rather bright spark. His green eyes flickered back and forth from the coffee cup to Lorelai several times before the werewolf finally registered that he was dealing with a witch. Deciding not to comment at the moment, he returned to petting the dog. He was taken slightly aback, though, when she mentioned her losses. His parents.... Well, the werewolf could care less about them. They never understood his spirit anyway. Losing October? That just didn't compute. "I...I am so sorry. That's awful. I'm so sorry for your loss."
He would have remained at a loss for words had Lorelai not continued on to ask him about school. It was difficult to remove himself from the thought of losing October, but he tried for the sake of the conversation. "Ah. School. No. I'm not. I was in medical school for a while, but that just didn't suit me." His lips twisted into a sneer at the memory of his parents' interference. They'd tried to make an outcast soul into the model of a perfect son and lost said son in the process. Colt did not appreciate their meddling, so he'd left. Lorelai didn't need that much information, though, so he continued. "I'm a mechanic. Really good with cars and motorcycles too. I know that's not real illustrious, but it's what I'm good at. Are you in school?" This time, the werewolf was a bit nervous about reflecting the question but he couldn't get any information about her if he didn't ask questions.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Oh, no nicknames from him? She'd be fine with that. She liked it when he said her name. She liked to think his name, say his name. Letting it roll off her tongue, though she was curious if it was actually his name or not. Just didn't seem to suit him as well as another name might. She couldn't help but laugh at his comment on Rory, "Don't look at me!" she commented giggling, "I should ask how they got that out of Lorelai." Though her curiosity rested on the comment of him being "attractive" to dogs. That was interesting, but a comment nonetheless. The hybrid took that into mind, tucking it away for later. To be honest she was wanting to start to piece things together with him. His name, why Troy liked him so much. Was he like her? Not necessarily like her, but...a supernatural? Her assumption was yes, now she just wanted to know to be sure. Where was some metal or silver when she needed it? Metal wouldn't hurt faeries unless it hit their blood, but this guy just didn't seem like he'd be a faerie. Perhaps a shifter or a werewolf. Maybe even an immortal. Oh Good Lord. She hoped not an immortal, or he might have heard the...thoughts about him in her head. Pushing those away and instead focusing on the current conversation, he'd better consider himself lucky. Most didn't know she was without her parents and older sister, it was something she preferred not to tell people, mainly because they always acted so out of place after she told them. Jason didn't need to know the details.
Hearing the fond tone in his voice was obvious. Someone who was deaf would still probably be able to see the tone of his voice on his face. She could easily hear it. He loved his sister dearly. How sweet. Lorelai loved that idea, the family, the tight-knit family bond that had been stripped of her when she was 9. Wrinkling her nose as she ignored that thought, the brunette smiled gently, "October, I'm glad you two are pretty close." she nodded solemnly, "How old is your sister?" The immediate change was obvious. Lorelai could sense the slight change in Jason, as Troy remained with his head on Jason's lap, while she heard his apology. She didn't move for a moment, before nodding gently, "It's...all right. It happened," she paused, debating on continuing, and how to, "Quite awhile ago." That she wouldn't say when though. No. So then when he mentioned medical school, her curiosity perked. Was he a doctor? Then, her guess, was it his parents who forced that on him? She could only imagine. But she wouldn't push, "Ah, I guess parents?" she spoke gently, her tone telling him she wasn't pushing. Oh good, a mechanic. That meant he was good with his hands. "Sounds wonderful. Do you own your own business?" she inquired gently, then nodded lightly at his inquiry, "I'm...getting my degree in International Relations, so that.." she paused, and added, "I can help people in Africa." She had a reason, she had friends over there, even a relative or two. Lorelai sipped on the coffee - wonderful coffee, as usual. Plus the company didn't seem to be too bad either. Jason was interesting, entertaining to say the least. Plus he was holding her attention, which was the biggest plus, "Do you mind if I ask how old you are?" she smiled innocently, "Only curious."

"I don't even know." Colt said with a shrug. "Maybe they were making a joke out of Lori?" That was the closest the werewolf could get. The thought of someone making such a joke with such a beautiful name was appalling almost to the point of pain. It was ridiculous how everyone thought that names should be shortened and messed with. The reason he kept his first name from most people was so that he could gift it to people. His middle name didn't seem quite as special. Jason. Such a common name. Colt was much more interesting and, in his humble opinion, fit him much better personality-wise. Her name, though, was a perfect fit. Graceful and flowing. Absolutely perfect.
Ah, October. His baby sister. It was impossible to keep the grin off of his features and the affection out of his voice when he spoke of her. She literally was the most important thing in his world. She'd remain that way until he found someone to spend his life with. Then she'd have to share the attention. The thought made him laugh. October would probably insist on interviewing the woman he fell in love with to be sure she was right for him. If there were ever two siblings more devoted to one another, Colt would shoot himself. "She's seventeen. Growing up way too fast, if you ask me. I don't even know what to do with myself." ....did that sound too fatherly? It was appropriate anyway. Colt had taught his sister more about the world and its workings than his parents ever did.If he'd only been around when October had that issue with that boy.... Things would have certainly turned out differently.
It seemed odd to push the subject of her family's death, so the werewolf avoided the subject. He plowed on to one even more unpleasant, his own parents who were very much alive and the bane of his existence. "Yeah. My parents. They have this ideal of the kind of son I'm supposed to be. I've never lived up to it and never will. Who they want me to be is so fundamentally different than who I am that I couldn't do it if I wanted to. They just don't get it." He laughed bitterly, then realized how awful he must sound complaining about his parents' pushiness when he had none. He quickly tried to backtrack. "I mean, I guess they did a good enough job of raising October. She got into some trouble, but she's here now... and safe.... So that doesn't matter. And I mean.. I got my way in the end. I'm doing what I'm good at."
Oh boy. The subject of the mechanics shop. "Well, I'm a co-owner, I guess. My boss really likes me, things I do good work so I'm the next in line. How fancy is that, right? Heir to a mechanics shop." Again with that laughter. "International Relations, huh? That's... incredibly cool! Oh, and I'm twenty one." He grinned, but he was seriously doubting now that she could see it. All the signs pointed to blind, but he was nervous to ask. Didn't want to offend... had to find out sometime, though. "Please don't take offense to this but.. is being blind difficult?" His voice was suddenly quiet, worried about upsetting her. That was the last thing he wanted to do.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Well if it was a joke, that person had an extremely weird sense of humor, Lorelai thought smugly to herself. Though she did agree with Jason, the whole joke thing. Wrinkling her nose in response, the hybrid shrugged, "Most likely. Weird sense of humor then." she shook her head gently. She wouldn't worry about it, just as long as Jason didn't call her that, she would be fine. Well, as long as no one called her that. Tilting her head gently, she grinned when Troy shifted, his tail brushing her foot as it wagged and he continued to just aim to please Jason it seemed. Certainly had a way with this guy. Which made her want to know, what was he? He certainly wasn't human, but definitely wasn't something like a vampire. Troy wasn't too much of a fan of men to begin with, probably because she too was always wary around some men. Though the moment she usually got on that topic, she either clammed up or get angry. This time it happened to be a silent anger. Mainly because she knew one of the men who had slaughtered her family was here, in Manuka. She'd hunt him down, no one would ever suspect a blind young woman to be able to do what she could do. Then again, in Manuka, nothing was ever as it seemed. Especially him with his relationship with his younger sister. It was quite adorable, and she felt a strange sense of envy through her body. If Angel were alive, would she and Lorelai have the same type of relationship Jason did with his sister, October? She pondered over that, and figured most likely yes. Angel had doted on her baby sister up till the very end, even defending her so they spared her life.
Realizing she was going down a bad path, Lorelai instead focused her attention on Jason and the conversation at hand. She grinned at his comment and the woman answered, "Well as far as I know, I don't think there's anything to slow someone's age." she teased gently, "It's nice to see your awesome relationship with your sister, I'm sure October appreciates all you're doing, you know?" Lorelai fell silent, as her mind drifted gently along with Jason's sayings. His parents. Sounded like the type one of her friends had, the type that wanted the perfect son or daughter. Bonnie wasn't like that, she didn't care what Lorelai did with her college, and when she'd been growing up, she learned everything she could through books and the other woman that was with her a lot, at least Chibuzo had the decency to have her be taught. So she was right on time with her graduation for her major. Lorelai nodded gently about his parents and his sister, "They did their best what they figured." she shrugged gently, "You didn't seem to turn out too bad though, and I'm sure your sister is just fine." she reassured, and listened in on the mechanic shop. "You like doing what you're doing, isn't that the important thing?" she flashed a quick grin.
It sounded like fun. Too bad she didn't have a car - yet - or else she'd definitely make sure to get his number for the shop. Well, that and she was aiming to get his number anyway. She did like listening to him talk though. He had a nice voice, now she really wanted to "see" what kind of face went with that voice. She still thought for the green or brown eyes, and perhaps just dirty blonde or dark brown hair. Either way she was curious, as she could remember things like the sun and everything, what people looked like, but now, darkness. Lorelai tilted her head, hair falling past her shoulders. So he wasn't too much older than she was. Excitement boiled in her, "Ah, I'm about to turn twenty in two weeks from today, actually." she smiled lightly, unable to help herself around Jason. It was just so...easy. Yes, easy. "Is being blind difficult?" Well, it had been easy. Her eyes fell, she could feel them move as she did so, before her fingers brushed her sunglasses, "It isn't really sunny now, is it?" she inquired lightly, having felt the rays of the sun vanish from her skin. Troy whined eagerly, as if not getting enough attention and licked Jason's hand before lying down, looking between the two. "After being blind for so long, you get used to it."
She spoke gently, her head lowering as she took off her sunglasses. She didn't have the classic still eyes people who were born blind had. Her eyes moved, and she remembered Bonnie telling her that her eyes were a "rich hazel" from her description. Lorelai lifted her head, her eyes shifting gently as she looked down slightly, though enough so Jason could see them, "Troy helps a lot." she mused gently, and Troy, hearing his name, eagerly perked up and padded to Lorelai, licking her hand gently before settling down between the two, his head between both of them, big brown eyes looking between the two. She ran a hand anxiously through her hair. Hysterical blindness. Her disorder, the reason why she couldn't see, her brain protecting itself. The young woman flinched slightly as she then looked towards Jason's voice quietly, "Don't worry, you actually had a light conversation with me before, most people ask that as the first thing." she reassured. She didn't want to in a way, scare him off. Jason was...interesting, she actually wanted to get to know him.

Colt still counted help the smile when it came to October. "No, I guess not. I guess she's going to grow up no matter what I do. It's just kind of scary. I remember when she ran into walls because she couldn't walk well. Or when she screamed for piggy back rides everywhere." Oh, the memories. Now his little sister was dating and doing her own things. Didn't she know that growing up meant problems? She'd probably learned that with that guy. "She got involved with a boy, told him she was a were-" Insta-stop. Couldn't say that! Back track! -ehem, excuse me. Told him she had some identity issues. He got really upset, got Tober all upset. They have to leave, go somewhere else for her to feel safe. I told them to come here. I could at least take care of her here."
Colt shrugged. It was true that October had to grow up sometimes. He just planned on shadowing her every milestone. "I guess they did what they thought was best. It just didn't sit well with me. They're doing better with October, I guess." Ah, the mechanic shop... It was probably his favorite place to be. Nothing quite like having his hands covered in grease and hearing an engine purr to life. "I really do enjoy the shop. It's great stress relief and I get to make good machines run. It's amusing."
The werewolf raked a hand through his hair and grinned. So her birthday was coming up, huh? Maybe he'd have to ask Lorelai if they could accidentally meet up again. If that wasn't too forward, obviously. They seemed to be having good conversation and the chemistry was spot on. His thought was interrupted however when she asked if it continued to be sunny out. Wait. What? Why was she asking?
Oh, she was going to take her sunglasses off? Oh, god. He probably made her uncomfortable. "I'm sorry. That was probably an awkward question. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I just...." Woah. Without the sunglasses, her eyes were visible. Her face was complete and somehow she was more gorgeous than she was a moment before. "Your eyes are beautiful. You shouldn't keep them hidden." It was possible that comment would make her comfortable but Colt was into the truth.

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are Lorelai had to grin when he spoke about his baby sister. So cute. She found it quite adorable how much he talked about his sister, and how she would scream for piggy back rides from him. "That's...adorable. I love it that you two are so close." Lorelai listened in on Jason's words and she personally, wanted to hear what he had to say. She loved his voice, it was so soothing, calm. Genuine. Definitely. Tilting her head lightly, the hybrid then paused, her eyes widening when she heard him stop after saying "were-" and she perked. Werewolf? Now that was interesting. Definitely another thing she wanted to know now, about Jason, and even his younger sister. Were they both werewolves? And had they been bitten or were they born to be a werewolf? Lorelai grinned as he corrected him. Too late, she thought. She already had him. "Ah, identity issues?" she gave him a slow, careful wink, controlling her muscles keenly. Oh yes, she could wink, she'd taught herself that when she had been in Sierra Leone, and learning different ways to make Chibuzo happy, and by that it meant from being able to dance to being able to sing a soft song to him when-ever he felt like it. The brunette listened in about his parents with his sister, then on about the mechanic shop. So he had a few things in life he was passionate about, his baby sister and then the shop. Cars. God she loved cars, she loved being able to feel the leather, hear the engine purr and roar once it got started. Granted she couldn't see some of them, but running her fingers along the cars, she knew they were beauties. "I'm jealous of you, being able to work with cars. Do you have a favorite car?" she grinned lightly. "I remember seeing one...it was a 1964 Chevelle SS, that and the 1966 Pontiac GTO." Lorelai smiled weakly, proving she hadn't always been blind. But those were her favorite old-style cars, the new weird, concept cars were always nice too.
The hybrid mused gently, "So it sounds like you got your life planned out. Anyone you're planning it with right now?" she inquired, picking her words carefully. Planning it, obviously asking if he had someone special in his life with him, and right now meaning just maybe a girlfriend. She didn't know if he was married or not, since she couldn't see if he had a ring on his finger or not. The brunette shook her head at Jason's sudden distress when her fingers had been raised to her sunglasses, it was cute how thoughtful he was. Definitely a gentleman. That was a nice change. The young woman then mused softly, "Don't worry about it, Jason." He had cut himself off, though the hybrid soon found herself shifting her head down for a moment at his compliment. Most people didn't bother to look at her eyes as far as she knew, especially when her sunglasses weren't on. It was just when she had them on, she felt a bit more normal, like she wouldn't stick out as much, which was a main reason why she didn't like to put the "service dog" label on Troy, as she only flashed that when people asked in businesses, like shops. Fortunately most of the time they saw the harness and assumed.
"...Thank you." Lorelai smiled gently, "I'm sure I could say the same." she grinned sheepishly. "It's just...most of the time people get all awkward after they realize that." Lorelai mused gently, running a quick hand through her hair before she shifted, carefully coiling her fingers around her coffee cup and sipping it. Things like hot drinks were always tricky too, as she preferred not to have anything spill on her by her own fault. "I haven't been able to see in over a decade, Jason, it's all good, I understand." she reassured him gently, placing her hand on the table, as if in an attempt to reassure him. She would have placed her hand on his had she been able to see it, but alas, she couldn't. God she wanted to be able to see him. She hoped that the therapy helped, she wanted to see him besides just through touch. Personally though, that usually wasn't something Lorelai asked a person on the first day of meeting them. Especially not someone as special as Jason, someone she really wanted to get to know. Tucking some hair behind her ear, Lorelai inquired gently, "Do you mind if I ask...you were going to say something about your sister earlier.." her voice softened gently, so only Jason could hear, and she knew he would with those enhanced senses of his, if he was what she thought he was, "Was she born with it?" she asked gently, not wanting to push, "Please don't answer it's just..I'm curious." she mused gently, as Troy licked Jason's fingers, "Plus Troy helps reaffirm my guess." Lorelai smiled gently, her hand still resting calmly on the table, feeling the cool metallic surface beneath her fingers.

Ah, shit. Lorelai noticed his little slip and that wasn't good. He could get into a lot of trouble for revealing their species identity. This sweet woman could be a hunter or even a human! No.. Not human. He'd seen that spark and chosen not to comment on it. He'd never seen a witch before. Was that was Lorelai was? A witch? Oh, boy. Trying ignore it for the time being. Once more, Colt chose to ignore her comment. The wink was much harder to ignore as it sent another one of those strange shocks through him. Still he somehow managed to calm the sudden reeling feeling and refocus on her question. Cars... Cars... He could do cars.
Favorite car? Now that was something he could handle. "My favorite car, huh? Well, that's easy. I've got a 1969 Mustang that I restored to perfection. She's cherry red and purrs like a kitten. Pretty, pretty thing." The smirk that twisted his lips even colored his voice. Colt was proud of his car and the work that he had done which certainly showed. "I could take you out in her sometime if you want." There was an easy shrug and he took a sip of his coffee. That sip was almost in vain when he registered her question. "What? Are you asking if...?" There was a note of something nearing panic in his voice but in a moment, he calmed. "Ah no. I guess you could say I'm still looking. Life's kinda complicated and you've gotta make your own way. It's easier when you can find someone who's like you."
Ack, Jason... He hated the sound of that name... The werewolf much preferred Colt but it was... reserved. He had to get over that. It had been a while since he'd given anyone any name at all. THe man had spend a lot of time brooding, but no one had ever really minded. Or noticed enough to mind really. Colt scoffed at his thoughts and raked his hand through his hair. "You don't have to embarrassed. I don't mind the situation in the slightest, though I think you're still bothered by the fact that Troy likes me. About that," Green eyes shifted downward as the man considered what to say.
The woman in front of him was incredibly smart, observant though she could not see. That intrigued the werewolf, made him eager to share all the information she asked for. "My sister... My whole family, in fact. We're all werewolves. My sister and I are born. I never asked Mom and Dad. Your friend here just smelled the dog in me, I guess. He's sweet." He laughed quietly and reached out to pat the dog on the head. "I.... hope that's not a problem."

And through the rising and falling apart, We discover who we are The hybrid listened intently to Jason's reaction, or lack thereof really, as she then tilted her head gently when he spoke of his car. Well, his favorite car and actually one that owned. Oh, jealous much? She definitely was. Though she didn't find any reason in a car, not till she could see at least. Wrinkling her nose at that thought, the hybrid then let that look fall off her face as she grinned about him talking about his car. God she'd love to be able to run her fingers along it, allow her magic to paint her a mild picture of the car. Her own internal panic level spiked when Jason responded, slight panic edging into his voice before it vanished. So he didn't have anyone in his life. Lorelai felt some pride swell up in her when she heard that. Riveting. Her lips twitched slightly as she heard him explain about the car and not having someone in his life. Someone who was like him. Like her. Well, she'd prefer to be with someone who could see, at least till she got her eyesight back. Lips twitched fondly before she commented, "I'd imagine, though I mean, it has to be easier if one person isn't completely controlling and the other one is so stubborn a mule would be put to shame." Lorelai smiled gently, "I wouldn't worry yourself too much." she spoke calmly, her voice holding a slight mysterious tone to it, though she didn't elaborate more. Sure, was she aiming for his number, or a date? Course, who in their right mind wouldn't?
The hybrid couldn't help but laugh as Jason mentioned her being bothered that Troy liked him - more than he liked her. Putting an offended look on her face - or what she assumed to be offended if she remembered correctly (though it was more like a pouty face), Lorelai answered, "Now just because," she started, wagging a finger towards Jason, unable to hide a grin, "Sure, he might like you more, but he loves me." she teased, before patting her leg gently, "Troy." she mused softly, and the dog bounded back to her, turning away from Jason for only a few moments, whining as he nuzzled Lorelai's hand to tell her silently he was there. Troy then turned back after Lorelai's hand dropped from his head and back to Jason while the man then explained and confirmed her suspicions. So he was a werewolf. That would explain the stopping in mid-sentence earlier, as well as the fact that Troy seemed to really like him. Pursing her lips thoughtfully, the young woman listened keenly as he explained about his family. So he'd been born with it, both him and his sister. He probably had an okay time shifting by now if she knew enough about werewolves as she thought.
A problem? Please. She was a hybrid for starters, and secondly, just because he changed into a big wolf once a month didn't bother her. As long as he didn't bite her, they'd be all good. "No, it certainly isn't." she mused gently, brushing her fingers with Troy's wagging tail as he was petted on the head, in turn licking the fingers that had patted him. Lorelai tucked her hair behind her other ear and she commented, toying with the cup that she had barely let go of once she had found it with her magic and just poking around with her fingers to find it, "I mean...it's not like I'm going to freak out if that's what you mean." No way, she'd seen worse, hence the blindness. Lorelai shrugged lightly, "I'm...sort of, like you." she smiled weakly, sipping on her coffee, about half-way done now if she was correct. "I'm not running away, am I? Well, I wouldn't, mainly because I think Troy would stay here, and I'd like to go a day without making a fool out of myself." she sighed softly. She hated going without Troy anywhere, as he helped her work around obstacles.
"Oh yes, I'd love to go for a ride in it sometime." she responded, with an apology smile on the end of it, before she pressed on about her, "As for...well...what I am..." she paused, "I'm a, hybrid." she forced out of herself. Personally only Bonnie knew Lorelai could see the future in her dreams - she did. But otherwise that was pretty much it except the feelings she got once in awhile before something bad happened, like a storm or an accident around her. Fiddling with her fingers, she added, letting Jason speak before she did, so she didn't cut him off, "Mermaid and a warlock...my mom was a mermaid, and my dad a warlock." She wouldn't go into more, as she hated thinking of her parents and her older sister. Nibbling her bottom lip gently, the brunette shifted her attention and narrowed in on where Jason's voice was coming from, "So tell me....what do you usually do in your free time? Sports? Keep an eye on your sister?" she smiled gently, letting him know she was only teasing, but was also curious at the same time, just what made him, him.

Geez, this woman just got more and more interesting. She responded to his comments with ease and didn't seem bothered by his being a werewolf. She was interested in learning about his life and habits. Of course, the lovely woman in question happened to be blind, but that just happened to make her all the more intriguing rather than detracting from her allure.
The werewolf chuckled, a sound that rang deep in his chest. "That's not exactly what I meant, but you make a good point. Allow me to clarify." He was amused and it showed. "When I said that I wanted to share life with someone like yourself... I meant several things. One, that one should join lives with someone else of supernatural ability. Humans with humans. Supernaturals with supernaturals. We match better that way. Two,I think that personality types mesh or clash. I could never spend my life who wanted to be normal. I've fought too hard to shake the normal life. I'd much prefer to find a woman who appreciated the value of being different. Three, I need someone who will be their true self with me. I will not live forever with an impostor. If the woman I want cannot be perfectly honest with me when we have decided to be with each other... That's just unforgivable."
Colt was quiet for a moment before that chuckle resounded again. Through his whole speech, the werewolf had been watching Lorelai. Sure, he was taking advantage of a sense she did not possess, but he gained valuable information that way. It would be a shame to waste such clues. "I'm sorry. That probably sounds pretentious. I didn't mean for it to sound like that." He watched the dog return to his mastery and he smiled. "Good dog. Very loyal. He may like me, but I don't feed him. He knows who he has to go home with. He knows who loves him."
The werewolf's ears figuratively perked up when Lorelai mentioned being a hybrid. So she was a supernatural, huh? That meant she met point one of his checklist. The thought made the werewolf smirk. Doing well... Doing well... "What do I do in my free time? Mostly do work on my car. I do like a good party and my sister says I'm heartbreaker. What can I say? I enjoy making pretty ladies smile. Speaking of which... would you like to take a walk with me? I think we've both about finished our coffee and I'd rather not take up these nice people's table any longer than necessary."
Colt rose with ease, his chair scraping noisily as he did so. With clear steps, he walked around to Lorelai's side of the table and placed his hand on top of hers. It would have been much more polite to offer his arm, but she wouldn't be able to see the gesture so it was pointless. "I promise to be a perfect gentleman if you agree to come with me. I think between Troy and myself, we can keep you pretty safe."
