i feel so used because of youhow could you do this to me? Derek never considered himself a fighter because he himself had a fear of getting hit by others. He had very idiotically thrown himself in those type of situations in the past. Derek couldn't keep his mouht shut once his agitation kicked in. He never fought back in fights and usually tried his best to shield himself. There were only a few times where Derek had chose to fight back from being controlled by his anger. He never stopped and thought over if the situation was too much for him to handle. Sometimes Derek could handle himself. He wasn't a violent person, only when in wolf form. Derek figured his sudden confidence to attack Elijah came from his wolf instinct kicking in and the alcohol. The wolf in him was very protective of what was his. He had to keep his mate away from any other. Derek wanted to know the full story of what was happening. All types of scary scenarios flashed through his mind.
Derek never had time before to get to know someone and fall in love. He had maybe one or two girlfriends in his past, but he was never happy with them. Derek felt attached to Vaeda on a whole different level. He couldn't explain the desperation he felt when he was away from her and the happiness he felt when he was with her. Derek felt so anxious without her. He would die for her and of course throw himself into any situation even if he was pissed at her. Derek completely forgot he was supposed to be angry with Vaeda as well and not only Elijah. He couldn't bear to look at her if she showed up. Derek sensed something going on between Elijah and Derek. He just was scared to find out what. Despite if it was even as simple as growing feelings for each other, Derek wasn't happy with it. How could she even look at another man in the same way she looked at him? Derek wasn't even attracted to other women. All there was was Vaeda in his mind and if some fucker like Elijah came and tried to steal her he would fight her no matter how slim of a chance he had at winning her over.
He couldn't stomach the thought of his Vaeda with another man. Derek felt sick thinking about her lips on another man's. Especially Elijah's. There had been countless times where those two were alone and naive Derek didn't even know what was going on. He had thought Elijah was such a nice guy. Turns out the guy didn't know what boundaries were. The thing that made Derek even more angry was that Elijah knew Vaeda and him were together. Derek wouldn't have had a reason to want to hurt Elijah if he didn't know Vaeda had a significant other, but he did know, that was the thing. Derek wanted to do all types of violent things to Elijah. He was just dumbstruck that he was stupid to have let this happen right in front of him. Derek didn't even want to look at Vaeda when she showed up. He didn't want a thing to do with her anymore. Life without her seemed unreal and made him want to pull his hair out. She was all he had besides his family. He devoted all his time into her and his career. Without Vaeda his life would be no breaks and all work. He wouldn't be able to handle that.
Derek didn't feel like he needed friend if he had her. He was so awkward anyways when it came to people because they became so distracted with his stutter. There had been a few friendships he had while he was in Manuka. They feel apart as easily as they had formed. Derek admired how easily Vaeda made friends. How could she even have a friend like Elijah anyways? He was full of hate and drank too much. Vaeda was always so courteous. Derek wasn't a person to look down on others, he just watched who he befriended to avoid any unneeded drama like there was going to be in that night. If Elijah hadn't showed up this night would have ended up as perfect as the couple had intended. Derek hated Elijah for it and he also hated Vaeda for letting it happen. Why didn't she protest the dance when she knew Derek would probably watching and sense whatever the hell they had going on. Derek never understood the mind work of others. He only had wanted a good night with his girlfriend before he had to spiral back into school. He needed the break and this was no break from stress, this only added to it.
Derek felt his anger swell up more in his throat when Vaeda popped into his mind. He felt so betrayed. The thing that scared him the most was he knew that he couldn't stay angry with her no matter what she did. He would need to take all his anger out on Elijah. Derek knew he'd probably break down if she showed up and that would only make him look like a bitch. He tightened his grip on Elijah's collar, noticing the discomfort from Derek's strength. Good. Derek focused back on his target, his blue eyes staring daggers into him. He was so tempted to just snap his neck and break his spinal cord. Derek only imagined the horror on Vaeda's face, though. She cared about Elijah and he couldn't do that much damage. He would do what he could. Derek locked his jaw when Elijah's gripped at Derek's wrists, trying to pry his hands off and hold himself up more. That wasn't going to happen with his puny human strength.
Derek ground his teeth together in agitation. He didn't like being lied to. His nostrils flared in frustration, not believing a word of what was coming from his mouth. Derek was just right about to choke him at the next words."D-don't tempt me, boy. I will skin you right here in front of all t-these people." He growled again, tightening his grip even more. Before he could even realize it, Elijah had brought up his leg and hit him right in the stomach. His release on Elijah broke instantly as he clutched in pain, coughing. Derek let out a very inhuman snarl and straightened up. He was trying his best not to change in the middle of the ball. He held a hand on his stomach."You motherfucker." Derek whole features were screwed up in anger. He charged at the human, throwing two blows at Elijah's stomach to show him how it felt. Derek wasn't going to stop unless someone pulled him off and no one from the ball had stepped in yet, which was surprising.

enough words for fuckincirce and emily and she's wearing thisNow that she was finally able to breathe, she was ready to go back out to the ball and find Derek. She wanted her night to go back to the perfection it was before she had to dance with Elijah and everything got all screwed up. Why did he have to talk to her tonight? Of all nights, he would choose the one where everything was supposed to be exactly perfect and no other way. But with Vaeda, nothing was ever perfect. Her relationship with Derek certainly wasn’t anymore. Before that night with Elijah, everything had been perfect in her life. She couldn’t have asked for anything differently other than maybe not blacking out when the full moon came around. Then she wouldn’t kill anything and not actually know about it. Her life would be jolly and wonderful.
Everything seemed to take a turn for the worse. First her friendship, and now her relationship with Derek. Was this some kind of test or something? And if it was, she was failing miserably. The only thing she had left was her job, and no one but she could mess that up. She had no intentions of doing such a thing, so she knew at least she would always have that to fall back on. Still, it didn’t seem like it would be enough anymore. Vaeda was a pretty dependent person. She always liked being in a relationship with someone because she liked taking care of them and making sure they had everything they needed. But if she ever lost Derek, she didn’t know what she would do. Everything she knew so well was going to change and she wouldn’t know what to do with herself or her time. When she wasn’t at the vet’s office or at school, she was with her boyfriend. When she wasn’t with Derek, she was with Elijah or another friend of hers.
Vaeda walked into the ballroom looking to the bar where Derek had been sitting. She noticed the two glasses that he was sitting by before, but Derek wasn’t there. The only thing she saw was a seemingly empty bar with the bartender craning his neck towards the dance floor for some reason. Vaeda looked over to see what was going on, and fortunately for her, her werewolf hearing caught the voices of Derek and Elijah. She couldn’t quite hear what their words were, but she knew Derek’s voice, and his sweet stutter that seemed to be spiting fire right now. She became very alarmed and rushed towards the group of people that began to crowd around the two. Vaeda used her strength to push people out of her way. With her small frame, one would think she was week, but it was just the opposite.
When she finally got to the center of the circle, she saw Derek grabbing Elijah by the collar of his shirt. Vaeda’s heart leapt into her throat. “Derek!” she shouted angrily. She took his hand with hers and pried his fingers away from Elijah, who dropped to the floor. She pushed the other werewolf away. “Don’t you dare hurt him,” she said, then turned to Elijah. Her face fell. Since it was all his fault, all of this that had happened to her, she had no intentions of helping him out. She growled uncontrollably, once at Elijah, then, turning towards Derek, did the same, warning them both to stop. This was not the place for fights, nor was it going to happen on her watch.
It was said that Vaeda was somewhat of a pushy person. When she wanted something to happen or when she wanted something at all, she did it however she needed to, or went after it full on. Now that she was set on separating these two, mostly so Derek didn’t kill her…friend. Vaeda was not about to watch a bloodbath occur on these nice marble floors, nor was she going to have it happen in a very public place. Elijah was a human, and there was quite a few vampires here tonight thirsty for blood. Even if she was mad at him, she could never, ever have him become a vampire or have the blood drained out of him by a vampire on her watch. She was a protective woman, and damn it she was going to protect that asshole whether he liked it or not, and whether she liked him at the moment, or whether she hated his guts. Right now, it was the latter.
Vaeda took a hold of Derek’s arm. With one quick glance at Elijah, she said “Stay away. Please,” her words sounded weak, almost desperate. Her facial features were just as feeble. She looked almost worried. She knew if she were to see him again all hell would break loose. What she needed right now was time away from him. she needed to fix what had been broken with Derek, and it was going to take a few weeks to make her guilty conscience feel okay about all of this. The first step was telling Derek about what happened, and she was going to when she finally got him calm enough to talk to.
She pushed him by the arm out of the door, through the castle, and to the valet. When they brought the car around, she snatched the keys before Derek could get to him. There was no way she was going to let an angry man drive her home. When the two got into the car, she drove home. Neither said a single word. All she thought about on the way home was how she was going to fix her relationship with the one person in her life who she trusted more than anyone. She would give up everything for Derek, even her own life. She didn’t want to jeopardize their relationship just because of one little slip up on her part. What they had was too special.
Vaeda parked the car in the parking garage and sat there for a moment beside Derek. “It’s probably not even what you think,” she started. Her voice cracked a little, so she cleared her throat. She turned to him and put her hand on his knee. “What do you think happened? Why did you get so angry so fast?” she whispered so her voice couldn’t crack noticeably. She squeezed his knee and rubbed it softly with her thumb. Vaeda bit her lip with a small amount of fear running through her. her heart was pounding in her throat and she could barely breathe. This was the moment of truth she had been waiting on for a week.

i feel so used because of youhow could you do this to me? Controlling his anger had always been a battle for Derek. He seemed like such a intelligent and well rounded man, but that took a lot of concentration and counseling growing up. Now he could walk away from some situations and know it wasn't worth it. Before he would attack people with blind anger. His father would easily cover up the bloody, violent stories. They still haunted Derek's memory. He didn't mean to hurt a lot of the people. He knew he would become a werewolf since he was a kid. Derek hadn't started the transformation until he was a teenager and the new werewolf senses mixed with teenage hormones were no good. He was always mouthing off to people as he still did now. Derek did get excused for his horrible behavior for his social status, money, and good marks in his classes. Everyone looked past his snide remarks half of the time and try to give him the most respect they could. Derek did admit he did talk down to most people. He was a nice guy, but as soon as he got even a little bit agitated it was a trainwreck.
He was nearly about to lose control with Elijah and tear him apart. Derek wasn't thinking of him as a defenseless human, but a man who could easily step in between his relationship with Vaeda. He felt like Elijah was stepping into a situation that wasn't his to get into and Derek wanted him out. He wasn't thinking of how terribly inappropriate it was attacking him in the middle of a big social gathering. That was the thing; Derek wasn't thinking at all. He was letting his anger and rage control him. Derek's wondering about Vaeda popping back up was what was stopping him from murdering the human. Every fiber of his body wanted to snap the boy's neck. Vaeda wouldn't forgive him. She'd be pissed that Derek had even attacked him like he did. Well he had good reason so she had no right to be angry. She was half of the reason he had done it. It took two to tango. If they really did do what Derek thought they did then he'd have to channel his anger on her somehow.
Derek knew for a fact he couldn't be angry with Vaeda. That was his life and he was afraid to lose her. She was too good and too perfect. He loved everything about her. Derek wanted to able to scream at her and tell her he didn't want to speak with her. He could try to prep himself up for any of those, but it wouldn't work. As soon as he would lay eyes on her he would be overwhelmed with the opposite of anger. Derek would just have to channel all of the bitter feelings onto Elijah and give him full blame until he could at least muster up some type of poker face and act angry with Vaeda. He wasn't even sure how to feel about her. Derek was sure something was going on. He had seen it. The way Elijah was looking at her while they were dancing made him sick and the way his hands were on her. Like he was so used to having them there and it was so natural. There was no friendly type of body language with Elijah. Derek felt like he had every reason to be pissed at Elijah in the first place. Derek had stayed in his place when he had saw that. Once he saw he had upset Vaeda that was when he drew the line. No matter how he felt towards her no one would make her cry.
Derek watched with a slight demonic smile on his face as Elijah doubled over from his punches. He grabbed him by the collar again, still growling low in his throat. Derek was about to say something equally threatening again, but his face fell into as he heard Vaeda call out his name. His eyes instantly fell on her as she pushed through the crowd. Derek quickly turned his head back to Elijah, wanting to at least get one last hit in before Vaeda intervened. Before he could do anything, he felt her hands begin to pry Derek's hands off of him and he was watching Elijah clatter to the floor painfully. He glared at him, breathing heavily and stumbled back a few steps as Vaeda tried to push him away. His heart hammered uneasily in his chest and his anger spiked up again when she spoke."Why? Don't want a-anyone to touch him but you, eh?" He said in a disgusted voice, unable to look at her as he said it. Derek ground his teeth together, still staring at Elijah with a death glare. He looked away briefly from him as Vaeda began to growl at him. Derek stared at her with an icy stare, figuring it was time to let the fight go.
He watched numbly as she took a step toward him and took his arm. Derek glanced back at Elijah as Vaeda spoke at him. Oh, so Derek had to get yelled at but Elijah got none of the heat? He ground his teeth together, wanting to spit in Elijah's direction. Derek let Vaeda guide him along, dreading being alone with her. His anger would fade and the hurt would pool back into him. Derek didn't want that. He wanted to pull out of her grasp and run. They made it to valet and he just let Vaeda take the keys. He easily could have taken them, but he felt too tired. He felt like he was just dragging himself along. The silence on the ride back was nearly unbearable. Derek stared out the window of the passenger seat in silence, trying his best not to let tears fill his eyes. He didn't like crying, it made him feel vulnerable. That was one thing no one enjoyed feeling like. He also didn't want Vaeda to see him like that. He had to make her feel as hurt as he did. Derek wouldn't talk for as long as he could. His heart was pounding loudly as they pulled into parking garage and came to a stop.
He pulled his seatbelt off and just sat there, still staring out of the window. Now he was staring into the blackened window of the car a few spaces away. Vaeda began to speak and he wanted so bad to channel her out. He listened, chewing on the inside of his lips. Derek knew exactly what had happened. Even if it was as extreme as sex or as simple as a kiss, it still happened. She had went against their loyalty toward each other. No matter what did happen, Elijah had come to grow feelings for Vaeda and that wasn't good. Derek was afraid Vaeda would do the exact same. He wouldn't be able to take that. As soon as Vaeda was gone from his life he would have nothing but his school to cling to. Derek stared up at the side mirror on the car, frowning at his reflection. He looked sick and angry. He gave Vaeda a side glance when she asked him what happened. Her hand landed on his knee and he pulled away from the touch almost instantly. Derek didn't want anything from her. at the moment until he knew what happened.
He was silent for a long time, not wanting to answer her. Derek could feel her eyes burning holes into him and he could feel her desperation. He shifted in the seat, crossing his arms over one another. Derek was now staring in front of him at a Volvo in the parking space parallel to his car. He kept a cold look on his face as he stared. Derek wanted to get out of the car and avoid this situation."Say something. Please." Vaeda spoke out again and he sighed, acting as if he was aggravated. Derek was far from that. He was hurt, uncomfortable, and just all over not feeling good. He sighed again, figuring he might as well talk."I don't care w-what the fuck you did with him, it's just the fact that you did something. I just can't even believe you right now." He said quietly, shifting in his seat again. Derek still wouldn't look at her. He couldn't bear it."If you had sex with him, I'll kill him. Don't think I won't." He said in his same monotone, icy voice. Derek was being completely serious. Vaeda knew that. He couldn't dare hurt her so he had to go to the next thing and that was Elijah. Derek felt exhausted he didn't want to talk anymore.

enough words for fuckincirce and emily and she's wearing thisVaeda couldn’t stand the thought of Derek pounding on Elijah. It hurt her knowing how badly Elijah would get injured because he was just a human and Derek was so much stronger than he. Even she was stronger than Elijah. It was one of the drawbacks of being a werewolf, but at the same time, it was an amazing gift, too. Even though she wasn’t as strong as Derek, there was no way she would let him beat her friend up, even if he had done her wrong. She wasn’t the kind of person to hold grudges whatsoever. She was definitely not going to let him get beat up for something like a kiss. Maybe if he had taken full advantage of her, then she would beat him up herself, but it was just a kiss. One that she would probably never forget.
His words were like a whip lashing her in the face. It hurt so badly having him think she would rather defend Elijah because she cared more about him than she did about Derek. It wasn’t that at all, truly it wasn’t. Her heart squeezed in pain, but she didn’t let him see how badly he could hurt her with his words. She just glared at him and moved him along out of the castle before any of the faeries came and did it for her. By the time they were in the car, she could barely look at him without wanting to practically rip off every limb piece by piece until he apologized. She didn’t know what had come over her, and felt terrible for even thinking of such a thing. Then realized it was because he was right. She didn’t want anyone touching Elijah. Especially not Derek, but also not other girls. The thought of Elijah with another woman made her heart sink into her stomach. The thought of leaving Derek made her heart jump into her throat and she quickly realized that she couldn’t do that to him. no matter how badly Derek had hurt her, she knew that she could never leave him. he was too good to her and she was so in love with him. love was about forgiveness, trust, and respect. Derek gave her all three, but mostly respect, and that was what she loved most about him. he was such a trustworthy person and she hoped that he would forgive her about the Elijah situation too because she wouldn’t be able to handle him not forgiving her. she just wanted things to go back to normal and for her to be able to not feel guilty about it anymore. She hated the guilt built up inside of her. she might have to tell him what happened between her and Elijah after all.
As they sat in the silence, Vaeda almost broke down crying. She tried not to show it, but she knew the tears were coming soon. Him not saying anything was worse than him coming at her with harsh words. Or so she thought until he said he couldn’t believe her. what was even worse was what came next. The accusation of the two having sex was way over the line. She felt bad about a simple kiss. If she were to have had sex with him, she would have been a complete wreck. How could he think of something like that? He should have trusted her more to be able to control herself, even if she had had a few too many drinks. It didn’t make her want to cry, but rather it made her want to hit him square in the jaw. Instead of doing that, she took a few deep breathes.
Vaeda very suddenly opened the door, got out, and slammed the door with anger. Her dress got caught on it, and it almost slipped down off of her shoulders before she got a hold of it, reopened the door, got her dress out, and slammed it shut again with an annoyed huff. She stomped towards the elevator with a disgusted look on her face. When she heard Derek come up behind her, she turned around automatically and shoved her finger into his chest with all of her strength. “Even if we were to do something, which I’m not saying we did do you honestly, honestly think I could have had sex with him? Sex?!” Vaeda poked his chest again and turned around and punched the elevator button. It lit up and she crossed her arms underneath her chest.
When the doors opened up, she turned around and looked at him, all of the anger gone from her face. All that was left was pain. She could never hurt Derek like that. She could never cheat on him purposefully, and she sure as hell would never be able to sleep with someone else. As the doors closed, the tears finally began spilling down her cheeks. The lump in her throat was almost unbearable and she found it hard to breathe.
When the doors to the elevator slid open, she stumbled into the hallway. She left the keys in the ignition, so there was no way to get into the apartment. She was stuck out here until Derek came up with the keys—if he did come up. She wouldn’t blame him if he just left and drove away. Vaeda knew that he wasn’t very good at confrontation, so she wouldn’t be that angry if he did leave her. besides, she needed to think about things.
That’s when she heard the staircase doors open.

i feel so used because of youhow could you do this to me? He wasn't sure how she would react to him saying those last words. Whether she reacted to the fact he said he'd kill Elijah or the fact he accused her of having sex with him. He knew it would get some type of negative reaction from her. Derek nearly expected a blow to his face. Instead of that he heard the car door slam. Derek finally looked over at her side and it seemed her dress got caught in the door. She opened it up in a puffy rage and closed it again. If he hadn't been in such a bad mood he would have found it funny. He watched her go and leaned back into the seat and let out a frustrated cry. Derek punched the dashboard and put his head in his hands. He grabbed the keys from the ignition and stepped out of the car, slamming the door as well. Derek ran after her, scared she would just leave. As he bolted through the car garage and caught up to her at the elevator.
He wasn't sure whether he had ran after her because he wanted to apologize. Derek wasn't sure. He didn't feel sorry about anything he said. He was being as sincere as he could. Vaeda was lucky he hadn't murdered Elijah. He was very capable of doing so. Luckily he had been somewhat in his right mind during the fight. If he had had maybe one more drink maybe he would have lost control and snapped the human boy's head right off. Derek wasn't a violent person, but this had to do with Vaeda. He'd jump in front of a bullet for her. Derek was very protective of her and if their relationship was on the line he would definitely do anything even if that sounded psycho.
As Vaeda's spun around, Derek's eyes widened in response to her rant. The jabs to his chest felt like knives. Her words were like actual bullets. Derek wasn't sure if he believed they had had sex. He was only stating it because he had been hurt and wanted to make her feel his pain too. It had worked, but now that he saw her pain he wished he hadn't said it. After her rant was over to turned and pressed the elevator button and stepped inside. As she turned around as the door closed he saw a glimpse of the very facial expression that almost made him fall to his knees. Why the fuck had he said that to her? Of course she didn't have sex with him. But of course Elijah was a decent looking guy. What woman would turn him down? Ugh he felt so confused. Derek sighed and ran his hands through his hair.
He needed to get to her. She probably was still in the elevator. Derek's eyes stopped on the door that led to the stair case. He walked over to it and swung it open. Derek flew up the steps. He didn't want to be angry with her anymore. Derek wanted it all to stop. All of the pain and venom filled comments. He didn't like how they were acting toward each other. Derek just wanted to hold her and to know that she wasn't going to ever do anything with another man again. That she would stay loyal to him. Derek just wasn't sure how his trust would be after this point. Could he trust her around Elijah anymore? Would they still even talk to eachother? He didn't know. Derek finally reached the door to his level. He opened the door and his eyes met with Vaeda's instantly.
He paused and heard the door shut behind him. They were alone again. It felt like all the pressure was his chest. Derek slowly walked toward her, staring at the ground. He stopped in front of her and looked up. Derek didn't even know what to say. He felt bad for accusing her of having sex with Elijah, but how could he have known she wouldn't? The things that happened in relationships these days were horrible. He cleared his throat."S-so. What a-actually happened between you and him?" Derek sounded tired because he was. He ran his hands through his hair not even concerned they were standing outside his apartment. Derek wanted to get this settled before they even did anything. He needed answers.
Derek took a step closer to Vaeda, staring at the ground now. He was so unsure of what to do. Derek still felt hurt, but he also felt bad because he had said something that hurt her. It wasn't right. Just because he was upset, he shouldn't be an asshole to her. He took a slight intake of breath,"Vaeda.." Derek reached up to touch her cheek and frowned when she pulled away. A pained looked flashed across his face for a second. He had really pissed her off. Great."I'm sorry I assumed that. I know you wouldn't. I'm j-just so c-confused right now." Derek set his hand on her shoudler, squeezing it and running his hand down her arm. He searched her face for any type of reaction, but before he knew her arms were wrapped around his neck. Subconsciously he wrapped his arms around her waist and buried his face in the crook of her neck. Derek continued to murmur apologies and about how much his loves her until he pulled back. They stood there staring at each other for what seemed like hours until he leaned down and gave her a gentle peck on the lips. He pulled back and gave her a gentle smile.

enough words for fuckincirce and emily and she's wearing thisVaeda didn’t like crying in front of Derek. Well, she didn’t really like crying in front of anyone really, but she couldn’t help it. Some might not think that she could ever be really vulnerable, but she didn’t have a heart made of stone obviously. I mean she went out and helped the animals who couldn’t survive on their own. She was one of the sweetest people you’d ever meet, but there was a side to her that people rarely ever saw which was her vulnerable side. Derek rarely ever saw her like that even. She really hated being seen as anything other than a sweet yet strong independent woman who knew how to take care of herself. Even if she had frozen up when Cas had attacked her, she had gotten her composure enough to save her ass. It had been one of the scariest moments of her life, but in the end she found out why he was tracking her in the first place. It was sad that the girl of his dreams, or something to the extent, had been attacked, but not all werewolves were bad. She almost hated being one because of the stereotypes. The only reason she was in love with being a werewolf was because she could talk to animals. It was wonderful being able to communicate with the creatures that she was trying to save or help get better. When she was in the office, it was hard to not have real conversations with some of the animals because she was so used to communicating with them freely. When she was working late, she would sometimes sing to them because they hated being stuck in those tiny kennels. It was sad, but she knew she couldn’t let them out for they would probably fight, pee everywhere, and mess up the entire place. It was the sad truth.
As Vaeda looked at her boyfriend with those big sad brown eyes, she couldn’t help but feel even guiltier about the entire situation. Her heart sank into her stomach and she just wanted to grab him and hug him until all of this went away forever and she never had to tell him a single thing. That way everything could stay the way it was. but it wasn’t like it had been the greatest since she and Elijah had kissed. She had felt nothing but the guilt weighing heavily on her shoulders and the want to tell him how sorry she was. then she felt bad because she thought she was being a bad girlfriend, even though she had been really drunk that night and everything was all fucked up. Nothing was ever going to really be the same as it used to be. There were too many feelings, as unwanted as they might be, to ever go back to the hunky dory ways they had been before. No matter how sad she was about that, she knew she had to face the facts and be responsible for what she had done that night.
As she bit her bottom lip, she looked down at the marble floors. This was the moment she had been waiting on. This was her chance to just come out with it and finally feel clean of all this guilt. Her heart thudded roughly in her chest and she felt like she could barely breathe. When she looked up at Derek, she sighed trying to get all her nerves out of her system. She walked up to him and put her hand on his chest to try and comfort him before she even said a word. She rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes tightly. “I didn’t mean it. It was… just…” she stammered with her words and felt like she was getting ready to lose the only person in her life she had ever loved before. She didn’t want to lose him over a simple kiss. But then again, she could be just overreacting to this whole thing. But to Vaeda, it was cheating all the same, and it was as bad as doing anything else. It was why even just the simplest kiss (which wasn’t exactly that simple since she had felt like doing more than kissing Elijah) made her feel guilty as hell. “Okay, well you remember that party I told you about a little while ago?” she asked and looked up at him with tears in her puppy dog eyes. “Well, Elijah was trying to be all protective over me, but I still got pretty drunk, and we sort of… ya know, kissed. But that was it.” Vaeda clenched his shirt and rested her head on his chest.
“I didn’t mean to. He kissed me, but I was too drunk to really do anything about it. And then after I realized what was going on and how I felt about it, I ran away.” She bit her lip again and tightened her grip around him. she didn’t want to let him go. She just wanted this whole thing to be over and done with and forget about everything and go to sleep because she was getting tired from all of this worrying. “It’s okay. I know exactly how you feel,” she patted his lower back and sniffed her nose.
Finally she pulled back and looked up at him for what seemed like forever before Derek kissed her quickly. When he smiled at her, she felt so much better about everything. She no longer felt like she was going to drown in her guilt, and she felt like they had somehow gotten closer in their relationship. Vaeda felt like she could tell him anything and they would still be okay. Of course she would still keep the secret of the fact that she had wanted to do more than kiss Elijah all to herself, but it was still a good feeling to be able to trust someone wholeheartedly. Derek was one of the only people in her life like that, and it made her love him even more.
"Come on, let's go inside," she said and gently took the keys from his hand. She unlocked the door and walked inside turning on the lights. She set her coat on the back of a chair then took Derek's hand. She embraced him in another hug. She stood up on the couch to be the same height as him and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Derek, I love you and only you." Vaeda kissed him lightly at first, but her sudden passion surprised even herself. She didn't want this night to end on a bad note and hoped he would take her to bed to have a little make up sex. It was always some of the best.

i feel so used because of youhow could you do this to me? Derek knew he would have to throw away his selfish feelings and try to rationalize with the situation. He didn't even have an idea of what happened between Vaeda and Elijah. Regardless, he couldn't stay angry with Vaeda forever. He knew how to deal with things on a more mature and professional level. Derek had grown up learning that etiquette. His father made sure he would be able to set aside his personal feelings to understand someone else's view. Especially at conferences when so many points of views were throwing around ideas. Derek has always helped his father with his research and business. Hence why he was always away. Derek didn't like leaving Vaeda so much. He tried his best to spend as much time as he could with her. Between school, his job, and constantly traveling. Derek always felt like such a bad boyfriend.
He was scared that was maybe what drove her to do something with Elijah. Derek wasn't around enough to cater to her every need like he wanted to. He didn't like missing out on time with her. Leaving so much had driven her into the arms of another man. Whether she had feelings for him or not, he had been blind enough to let it happen. Derek was always afraid he would let that happen. He was just so pissed because he could tell Elijah liked her. Derek had been dumb enough to let that happen. It made his chest hurt thinking about it. It made it hard to breath. The night was so overwhelming. It all had seemed so perfect at first. Why had it turned to shit like it did? Derek was so naive about it. What hurt the most was that Vaeda didn't even tell him or even think about telling him.
Nothing even seemed to be bothering her at all. He figured whatever had happened between her and Elijah must have happened awhile back. How come she hadn't told him? Had she even thought about telling him? Vaeda seemed fine all up until Elijah came around. Derek wasn't sure if his trust would be quite the same. He probably couldn't handle seeing her around her "best friend" ever again. If she even mentioned his name it would cause some type of conflict. Derek knew he would find it in himself to forgive Vaeda, but he would not forget what she did. He didn't think he was blowing things out of proportion. Maybe kicking Elijah had been a bit much. Derek couldn't stop himself when he got mad. He knew if Vaeda hadn't shown up Elijah would be nothing but a pile of ripped apart limbs. Derek wasn't sure if he ever killed a person. He sure as hell felt close enough to feeling like murdering Elijah.
Vaeda was a big part of his life. Elijah was tampering with it and he couldn't just stand there and let it happen. Derek knew he hadn't been professional in that situation. He wouldn't be able to handle himself without Vaeda. She was like the core to his happiness. Derek couldn't imagine himself with another girl. She was the only one. She was 'the one' as some people would say. Derek would do anything to get her affection. He felt so desperate without her. Maybe it was unhealthy for him to feel like that, but he couldn't help it. No one could replace Vaeda. Even though he was still a bit angry with her still, he wanted nothing more than to hold her.
Fear swelled up in his throat as she began to explain. He still stared at her with sad eyes, not taking them off of her. Derek wanted to hear every painful word. He clenched his jaw as he listened. So Elijah had kissed her first. Uh huh. He would keep that in mind the next time the two men crossed paths. Derek kept his face as calm as he could. You could read all his emotions in his eyes. Derek didn't say anything when she was done. Relief flushed over him. A kiss. Only a kiss. That was good to hear. He wouldn't have been able to handle it if it had been a bit longer than a few short moments. Derek pet the back of her head, staring into space. It was just a shock that she had even done it. Her being drunk had kind of played into it. Derek was so unsure. He couldn't stay mad at her though. Staring down at her and staring at her equally sad face didn't help either.
Knowing what had happened made him feel a bit better. He told her it was all okay. Derek didn't really know what to say. He had obviously already forgiven her for her mistake and there wasn't much else he could say. Derek just wanted to get inside the apartment and forget about the whole night. At that thought Vaeda grabbed the keys from his hands and opened the door and he stepped in behind her. Derek closed the door lightly behind him and kicked off his shoes and pulled off his coat, watching as Vaeda turned all the lights on. He smiled at her as she approached him and stepped onto the couch, wrapping her arms around his neck. He was now eye to eye with her."I love you too. I l-love you so much." Derek swallowed back all of bad emotions and let himself focus only on Vaeda as she leaned in and kissed him. He held her delicately at first, but as the kiss deepened his grip became tighter. Derek lowered her down on the l-shaped couch, hovering over her. His hands wandered across her body, wanting nothing more but to have her dress off.

enough words for fuckincirce and emily and she's wearing thisShe knew Derek could never be mad at her forever, but she had never tried to worm her way out of a situation before. She thought that people should pay the price for their mistakes. Still, she was more than relieved when he couldn’t be mad at her. she didn’t know if she would ever be able to live with herself if she were to break Derek’s heart by kissing another guy. She had already felt so bad about it in the first place, but seeing the disappointment in his eyes made it that much worse. She couldn’t blame him though. she would be just as mad if he had kissed some girl. She would be even angrier if it was a good friend of his. The more she thought about it the worse she felt. She did feel like a weight was lifted off of her shoulders when she told him, but there would always be a pang of guilt stabbing at her gut.
Vaeda was glad to get the subject off of Elijah. She didn’t want to talk anymore. She would much rather have some make up sex and pretend like everything was alright. She stepped out of her heels and looked at Derek who was also taking off his shoes. After turning on all of the lights, she got onto the couch to stand as tall as he. She felt this hunger inside of her that she hadn’t felt for a long time. she felt desperate to have Derek, but contained herself with her movements. She laid back on the couch and began unbuttoning his shirt. Her fingers fumbled with excitement so she finally just ripped his shirt off and threw it across the living room. She didn’t have patience for things like that right now. She needed him now. The urgency was getting stronger and stronger every moment. She didn’t even try to mess with the belt, she just tore his belt and pants off. She felt him tear off her dress as well and she maneuvered herself on top of him.
With a little giggle, she got off of him and grabbed his hand. She pulled him up and walked to his room. She pushed him not-so-gently onto the bed and crawled on top of him. as they worked their way out of their clothes and doing the deed, she had flashes of Elijah through her mind. She wondered if he would be this good or if he would be gentle on her. even though she was a werewolf and had more physical strength than he had, she bet he would still go easy on her.
She hadn’t even realized that she was imagining Elijah until she climaxed and yelled out the human’s name. suddenly Derek sat up and looked at her with angry eyes. ”What?!” he screamed. Vaeda’s eyes widened. She had just imagined Elijah underneath her instead of her boyfriend and she hadn’t even tried stopping herself. she blinked and hadn’t even realized that Derek was yelling at her. she felt so ashamed, and when she looked at Derek, still yelling at her, she burst into tears. The last thing she heard him say was ”Get out! And never come back!” Vaeda grabbed her clothes, which were ripped, her shoes, and one of his t-shirts and began walking out of his house. The put on her dress outside of his apartment and his t-shirt overtop just so no one would be able to see her exposed chest.
She swallowed the lump in her throat and slid onto the floor outside his door. She cried into her hands and wondered how she could be so stupid. How could she picture Elijah as she made love to Derek? She didn’t know what she was doing anymore. She wanted to go back to Derek and tell him how sorry she was and that she didn’t mean it, but he told her to never come back.
The last thing that Vaeda wanted was to be alone right now. She couldn’t go to her parent’s house because they were out of town, and Isaac was at the ball. She had seen Chandler at the ball, too so she couldn’t go see him either. And there was no way in hell that she would go to the castle looking like a train wreck. The only other person she knew of that would be home by now was Elijah. She didn’t care that Derek had just beat the hell out of him or that she had just yelled out his name during sex. She wanted to see him.
She stood up, sighed deeply, and walked the stairs to the bottom floor. She got a cab and just a short drive later she was staring at Elijah’s house. Her face was still beet red and her eyes were puffy from crying throughout the entire drive. All she could think about was how she had, in fact, broken Derek’s heart. She no longer had her boyfriend, and she was all alone. The one person she loved more than anything was now nothing but someone she had hurt. She could never forgive herself for that.
Vaeda took a deep breath and finally knocked on his door. She wiped her face one more time to try to hide her tear streaks, ut there would be no denying that she had just been crying for a while.

SHE'LL BE THINKING OF ME even when she's with you Oh, Derek really hated Elijah. He could feel it with every punch with werewolf strength and anger backing it up. Once or twice, he could feel something crack and that’s when it hurt the most. Something was happening, but it was hard for him to really hear properly over the punches on his stomach and him groaning a little bit with every hit. Oh come on man, just kill him already. Just break his neck quickly. It would have been more pleasant. Fucking werewolves. People tried to figure out why he was so bitter about being human. Why he was so touchy about the subject of him being human. They told him ‘don’t worry about your family’ but what the fuck about times like these? Instead of being able to torch the sucker, he just had to stay there and try to fight off, but man he was getting dizzy. Looking up at him made him see that there was about five Dereks in front of him. It certain felt like five fists. Or ten fists. Yep, ten sounded better. More accurate.
At once it stopped, and Elijah didn’t move. He lightly coughed, but tried to hold it in considering every cough felt like it might as well been another blow. The man felt like puking all over this floor, but held that in considering he was sure the faerie’s would have his head. He was probably already shit in trouble. The only movement he made besides coughing was looking and seeing Vaeda coming to his rescue. No, Elijah wasn’t one of those guys who was humiliated that a girl came to the rescue. It wasn’t worth going further than that. There wasn’t much she could see specifically. Just her outline. Her dress. Her hair. His head still hurt from the punch to the face. Her outline. Elijah even wondered if he nicked the guy. Still, he was alive. Something that for a moment, he didn’t think would happen. He closed his eyes for a moment, opened them again, and they were gone. With a groan, he rolled over so he was on his stomach, placing his cheek against the hard floor. Then he just laid there. He wasn’t moving.
He could hear some of the whispers along with the music the people not paying attention to the situation with him were still dancing to. It was a big room and hopefully he didn’t have everyone’s attention, right? He tasted the blood in his mouth before he saw it. One eye opened slowly followed by both spreading wide. With his heart pounding, he saw that the blood grasped some attention. Oh yeah, needed to get out of there. Now before he was eaten by the vampire and suddenly made into a yummy Elijah feast. He tried getting up, but the first try was unsuccessful as he kept his mouth closed- though having a hard time breathing through his nose. He saw a pair of feet stand between him and the vampire and saw that there was a glow coming from his hand. Firetamer. Probably one from his family. Warning them off. The glow faded right after he was pulled up by his coat. Stumbling a little bit, trying to regain his balance after being so dizzy. Yep. His very pissed off looking mother, ushering him out and pretending nothing happened. She didn’t say anything to him. She didn’t need to.
Well. That was fun. Fuck everything, he needed more alcohol. He ended up hobbling part way home before someone offered him a ride. Elijah figured, why not? Rode with the stranger to his house, where he walked in, went straight to his cabinet. To find it empty. ”COURSE IT’S FUCKING EMPTY!” He screamed, slamming the door shut and feeling his rib and stomach hurt with the sudden movement. The cat who had been sleeping on the chair shot about three feet in the air to a big black and white ball of fluff. It was a small cat, so all it looked like was a round ball of fluff. After everything that happened tonight, he couldn’t help it. Elijah just started laughing. It hurt like a bitch because of what he was sure cracked ribs, but it was a little bit of a release. By his laughing seemed to calm the cat down a little bit enough to go up to him and sit down. Oh yeah, the treats. Elijah gave them to the cat as often as he did food because well… he was trying to suppress his laughter considering it hurt, but it was hard when he kept looking at the fluff ball.
Well. He was up. And it wasn’t as if he hadn’t been drinking all evening. The flask he had in his suit was empty. He took off all the out layer crap of the ridiculously hot suit (despite it being winter) to where there was nothing but his pants. His shirt was off so that he was able to fix up some of his chest. Holy shit. Looking down on it, he saw basically the forming of a giant bruise on his entire torso. They all wondered why they could be easily classified as monsters. Some could be like Vaeda, but- his mind shut off. Now that he was home and settled, it was time for his mind to ponder. All of this. Vaeda. She just left him on the floor with nothing but questions. How could he mean something to her? He was a failure at just about everything and even a man who had a stammer managed to hand Elijah’s ass over to him. Maybe it was better if he didn’t see her for a while. His stomach dropped. How much he just wanted to throw away his values and fight for her.
He was wrapping up his entire chest, not knowing what else to do with it until he might be able to go see a doctor (though he wasn’t sure what they would do there either). He actually did know what to do since for the longest time his dream was to become a doctor. In high school, he had taken almost all the steps to reassure that. Including first aid and working in the summer as a lifeguard for the local pool. Yeah, that went downhill, but he still remembered everything. Despite what might have been though, he was pretty smart still. It was the time he patched everything up ready to go to bed when he got the knock on his door. His eyes glanced at Oreo, who didn’t run away, which was weird. She hated strangers. This person had been here before. Elijah dropped the roll of athlete tape and answered the door, forgetting everything he thought about avoiding her and keeping his distance.
It was Vaeda. Even in this light, he could see that her face was red and puffy from something. Shit, did Derek really blame her for all of that? For a guy that was protective of his girl- he didn’t treat her very well. Not good enough for Elijah anyway. There wasn’t any words at first. Just a small push in while he closed the door behind him against the cold harsh winter night weather. He just hoped she didn’t walk in this cold weather. Looking down at her, he put a hand on her cheek, ”Vaeda…what happened?” He asked gently, ready to be pushed away if he had to, although all he wanted to do at that moment was hold her in his arms.

enough words for fuckincirce and emily and she's wearing thisVaeda didn’t know why she felt driven to go and see Elijah, but he was the only person in her mind that she could think of that was most likely available and wouldn’t turn her away. She couldn’t help what she had said and if she could take it back she would. Vaeda already regretted even thinking about him while she was with Derek, but it had happened and that was that. She had never done anything like this to him before and her heart ached with sorrow. Derek didn’t deserve to be treated this way at all. He was nothing but kind and gentle and gracious, and what did he get for it? A stupid girlfriend who thought about one of her best friends while with him intimately. God she couldn’t think any lower of herself right now, except she was going to see Elijah. This must be what hitting a rock bottom felt like.
As she waited for Elijah to open the door for her, she rested against the railing along the small porch. She honestly didn’t even know what she was going to say when he opened that door. How was one even supposed to tell another that they envisioned having sex with them while they really did it with their boyfriend? That was just fucked up. Add to the fact that he and her boyfriend just fought in the middle of a giant ball, and it was even worse.
Derek had really pounded on Elijah. She had never seen him so angry before in her life, and it was all her fault. Well, mostly her fault. And Vaeda just realized how stupid it was for her to even be there. Just as she started backing away to leave, the door swung open. She hadn’t realized she started crying again until just now and she wiped her eyes away of the tears. She walked into his house to get out of the cold weather, not that she noticed it, and looked up at him. Her eyes burned a little and she didn’t even know where to begin to answer his question. “Um,” she said with a cracked voice. “Derek and I, we uh…” she sniffed and looked down at his shirt. It felt too difficult to look into his eyes and tell him this. “We broke up.” Vaeda sighed and closed her eyes. She tried her best to keep her tears from coming, but it was too difficult, so she let them stream down her face.
Without saying another word, she wrapped her arms around Elijah and held onto him tightly. When she finally felt like she could look at Elijah without wanting to hit herself for being so crude to him, she loosened her grip around his waist. She wiped her eyes once again and cleared her throat. “I’m sorry. I'm so sorry,” she said. She had never meant anything more in her life. She knew she was being bothersome and she really didn’t aim for that. Sure she was being selfish right now too, and she also knew that. But Vaeda had never been so hurt in her entire life. The only thing she wanted right now was to be with her friend who she knew wouldn’t toss her away onto the street.
She needed some ice cream to go with her depression.

SHE'LL BE THINKING OF ME even when she's with you If he had a dollar for every time a girl like this came over crying to his door, he’d be one fucking broke kid. The ones that did come were more of regular routine ones that came, but Vaeda was different. Sure, ranting had happened before. However, Elijah couldn’t remember when he had seen her in this type of condition. Considering the feelings he felt for this girl, this was probably a little more serious than the others. Not to say the others weren’t serious. Girls that had to leave their home to come to his place really had issues. Yet, there was something more attached to this. Elijah knew exactly what it was, but there was no way he was going to try to explain it. Now was operation forget about everything. Or it should have been. The beating had been a clear sign that he wasn’t going to go near Vaeda again. He wasn’t going to do it for Derek. Not that shit head. He’d do it for Vaeda to keep her relationship happy. Although the efforts weren’t looking so positive now.
Elijah was half expecting not to understand a word that was going to blubber out of her mouth. The beautiful woman was no longer wearing her long dress. She was now in tears and a t-shirt. Something else had happened. This wasn’t just a right after the winterball thing. Elijah was starting to change his assumptions now. Obviously the pair of them had returned to home or somewhere, and got out of the clothes. (He wasn’t going to assume much with that, but he was going to think that the dress though pretty was uncomfortable to wear constantly. Elijah knew from experience that night how hot and sweaty those suits got). They possibly couldn’t have continued on the conversation then right? Maybe he said his thing, she tried to go home and relax. Most people would have just been asking questions so they could satisfy all these assumptions, but he knew how sometimes, all questions didn’t want to be answered. Quite frankly, there were some things he thought would be better left to his limited imagination.
So yes, it was about Derek. That much he figured. The Way family didn’t have the weird misfit that the Sabrer family seemed to have. A couple of them, anyways. The eyes wouldn’t meet with him, but didn’t do anything more. Elijah had the urge to just go up and let her sob into his chest, but he still had no idea where they were. The last time they saw each other, Elijah was looking through beaten eyes as she defended his position. The last one on one time, she ran away giving away more questions than answers. He wasn’t going to try to think about that part of it. Focus on now. Everything seemed so jumbled and complicated. Clearly, things weren’t completely off and horrible if she chose to come here. There was the slightest bit of pride that she would still come to his house in a moment of distress, but he tried to compress it. The man could only accomplish so much assuming.
The words were completely unexpected. He thought perhaps in a moment like this, he would feel the pressure off. He would feel a sense of relaxation as he saw that he had a clear shot. But he didn’t feel any of that. All he saw was a very upset woman in front of him. Hurt and broken looking. Something that he didn’t see as now an open date. Saw it more as a woman he cared about in his life that he had to take care of. It was a weird feeling. Something that was hard to describe. Just his mind didn’t go in the way he thought it would have. ”Aw, Vaeda…” He mumbled, mumbling with a tone of apology in it as well. Somehow, this was his screw up. He got his ass handed to him and he still managed to ruin a completely happy couple. Only him. He would have offered a drink to Vaeda, but he knew perfectly well how that might have turned out. Drinking and hiding under the bottle was his move. And he knew how addictive it got. He wasn’t going to place her in that situation unless he had to. Girls liked… chocolate, right? He had something in the cabinets. If not, he also had a car.
The hug was needed, though he clenched his jaw to how much it hurt. On a normal day, it would have just been a case of not being able to breathe, but she was squeezing tight right on his bandages. He tried not to make any noises that indicated he was in pain. She needed it more than he did. What was a little more anyway? Below him, he could see the cat seemed to sense the distress in the room and came over to investigate. She rubbed back and forth on Elijah and Vaeda’s legs, but not making a noise. Vaeda seemed to realize her grip and loosened, in which he breathed a couple of deep breaths. Yes, a lot better. She apologized and he looked down. For what? For what happened at the ball? They both brought that on themselves. Probably Elijah more so for having the bright idea to try to talk to her there. Out of all places. ”Eh, it’s not bad. I’ll heal right?” Slowly, but he’ll do it. It didn’t even dawn on him she was apologizing for being there and bringing this on him. It was second nature to him. The dream to be a doctor had confirmed his desire to help people like this.
It had seemed to grow over the years too. He looked back and saw what an ass he had been, so trying to almost make up for it. Always go for the little guy. See what they could do and grow into. He had been more proud of his amateur last few years as opposed to some of the stuff he did as one of the main jocks who was cocky enough he could eventually light something on fire with the single twitch of his finger. Though he might have viewed it negatively, it really did change him to a better person in general. Even if he was a drunken almost twenty-two year old. That was how bad he had been before. He probably wouldn’t have wanted a girl like Vaeda before, but now- his want was increasing by the very second. Man, he was screwed.

enough words for fuckincirce and emily and she's wearing thisVaeda had tried her best to stay away from Elijah tonight. Really she knew that this was probably the worst place to be right now, but she couldn’t help herself. Without someone’s arms around her right now she was pretty sure that she would completely fall apart and would be so devastated that she felt she might die. Of course that was irrational, but she could think no other way right now. The only thing she knew for sure was that there was no one else right now that she had to go to other than Elijah. If Derek found out about it he would have been even more pissed off due to prior events that night. But it wasn’t her fault that she had called out someone else’s name! She was just so full of the human that it caught her by surprise and she accidentally said Elijah instead of Derek. She was sure it was simply an accident and that she meant nothing of it. She and Elijah were just friends and nothing more, right? Those butterflies she got when she thought of him were silly and meant nothing. Vaeda loved Derek and was supposed to be with him...right?
She sighed into Elijah’s chest when he spoke. She wiped the tears falling from her cheeks and took a fistful of his shirt. She wished she had the decency to not only Derek but to herself to put all the blame on herself. There was no reason for her to want to blame someone else when she knew that the only person putting her in these messed up situations was herself. Even if Elijah had been the one to make the first move, she hadn’t done anything to pull away and that was the beginning of her biggest mistake. It was in that moment that she had realized that there were feelings for Elijah other than just friendship. She knew that those stupid butterflies meant something. It was admitting it to herself that was the problem. “It’s my fault… all my fault, Elijah.”
Vaeda was scared. She was afraid of losing Derek, especially like this. If they were going to end their relationship at all, this was the last way that she ever thought it was possible to end. Never had Vaeda thought that they would break up really, but especially not on such horrid terms. It broke her heart all over again just thinking back on Derek’s face. The pain that it held and the sheer disappointment and anger. All of it flashed through Vaeda’s mind at once and made her crying that much harder. She found her hand clutching his shirt harder and harder and finally had to force herself to let it go or she might end up bundling it so tightly that she ended up ripping it or tearing it.
She never realized how tightly she hugged people. Vaeda forgot about his deep purple and blue bruises and his hurt ribs and had gripped him even tighter than usual. When she realized it, she felt even worse than before and wanted to cry all over again. She just couldn’t do anything right today apparently. But she held back her tears and looked at his torso after letting him go. “You should put some ice on it. It’ll help the…swelling go down,” she said hiccupping through her sentence. She walked into the kitchen and looked for a plastic bag. When she found them, she took one out then ripped a paper towel from the roll and shoved it into the bag. Vaeda walked to the freezer and pulled out some ice. Walking back to Elijah, she closed the bag and handed it to him. “Keep it on there for a while.” Vaeda bent down and pet Oreo and smiled to her when the cat comforted her as best she could and rubbed sweetly against her leg.
“Your cat is sweet Elijah. Just like her daddy, huh?” Vaeda said more to the cat than to Elijah himself. Vaeda had known Elijah to be a lot of things. He was kind, gentle, funny, ambitious (before he found out that he was not a firetamer), and always dependable. But there was another side of him that most people saw: sarcastic, bitter, self-pitying, and kind of a jackass. He was never like that with her though unless he had had a really awful day. But Vaeda knew how to get him to feel better. It was something she had always been able to do, even when they were younger. He had the same effect on her, too.
She sighed once again. Without looking at him, she continued to pet the cat and softly asked (because it had been on her mind since she had seen Elijah at the ball) “Do you think I’m a bad person?” She had never felt like a worse person in her entire life. And she needed some hope that she wasn’t or else she didn’t know how she would ever be able to deal with herself again. She could barely stand her own company right now and she needed Elijah to tell her that she wasn’t completely awful. She needed something else too, she just didn’t know what.

SHE'LL BE THINKING OF ME even when she's with you What magic wand was he going to have to steal from a faerie that was going to make the woman in his arms feel all better? Elijah would do that if it would make the situation better. Phycology was never one of the majors he thought about going into for his doctor degree. All he could basically do was let her sob on his chest while she gripped on for dear life. He gently and rhythmically rubbing her back with the trace of his fingers. To keep from asking too many questions and freaking out, he tried to focus on just a couple of things. The creases in her back. The softness of her hair. The tightness of her grip. How he was silently cursing Derek and wondering where the fuck was he and mostly importantly- what did he do to her. He just automatically assumed it was Derek’s fault because of the new dislike for the guy. Before, Elijah had always thought the guy was nice, but now there was a jealous loathing somewhere in his stomach. Like the fire genes were working in that way.
What she was saying though. It was all her fault? No, impossible. It couldn’t be her fault. All the other things hadn’t been her fault. Even the moment where she kissed him, it was pretty much all of Elijah’s fault. It was his doing. He was the one that still agreed to take her out for drinks and he was the one that allowed the kind of behavior. He kissed back, did he not? That hadn’t helped anything. That wasn’t all her fault. What between them could have done so? Derek already beat up the guy. He was supposed to forgive and forget. Wasn’t that how it went in the past? He figured that was how it was supposed to be. There was no other way to be done. ”I doubt it. You’re way too sweet.” He reassured her. She could probably try to explain the reason for it and he wouldn’t have believed a single word of it. He was going to ask around first. Not that there was anyone to ask, but all the same. He knew how it was to be self-critical. Emotional times like these were the worse time to be self-critical.
With sniffles and a red face, she switched to normal Vaeda instantly. She noted that he needed something and ran around the house finding it. Every time she walked by, he put his hands up in protest, saying that he was completely fine and that all ice was going to do was going to baby it to the point of not healing, but she ignored him. She went to his freezer and even got herself some ice before coming back while Elijah was shaking his head and in spite of the situation, laughing a little bit. At least there was something she would be able to do that was still completely Vaeda. He took it saying, ”Thanks. I told you I was fine… you might as well gotten you some chocolate that I was going to get you later.” He teased, then realized she might actually do it, so left before she could. Granted, between him injured and human, she would be able to make it if she wanted to, but Elijah was determined. He waddled over to the cupboard and found it right next to the peanut butter, coming back and giving this to her, ”If I have to put ice on my chest, you have to eat this.” Sounding very professional. Instructional. Compromise. Elijah hated ice. It burned his skin and didn’t melt quick enough. The cold just stayed there.
Elijah was a lot of things but he didn’t think of himself as sweet. He pretended not to hear what was said, but looked up and acted as if he were zoning out instead. But yes, he heard it. There was a swell that came in his shoulders at that moment. He twisted his shoulders back and forth, as if to get them loose before looking over at Vaeda. The cat was still familiar with Vaeda and was rubbing and purring all over, giving her a paw whenever Vaeda happened to stop. Hey, if the pair were going to share any trait, it was going to be pestering. And making their eyes really big not intentionally. Elijah’s big blue eyes were looking at her that moment, a little tired looking from the night he had. A little more relaxed to see Vaeda was at least smiling. If he would have known that, he would have brought the cat in the room instead of letting it run off from the door.
Her words almost made him fall. He looked at her now with confusion, going to sit down because he felt a little unbalanced. The icepack was now starting to do that numbing thing on his ribs and as much as he wanted to complain, it was nice not to have to feel the hot throbbing pain on his chest. Even though there was a new weird hot going through him as she asked the question. What a strange question. Was she not listening to him? He thought she was the least worse person anyone could ever be. She would have given the shirt off of her back for a stranger on the street. ”Are you crazy? Absolutely not! What would even make you ask such a thing?” He asked, just astounded and shocked that it would even cross her mind. Trying to figure out what she could have done in the past. Probably accidently run over a rabbit with her car as it was crossing the street had probably been her greatest sin. Though there was that werewolf thing, but that wasn’t Vaeda. That was… something else. Something- Elijah wasn’t going to lie on- terrified him.

enough words for fuckincirce and emily and she's wearing thisVaeda had always thought of Elijah as one of the more important people in her life. Since her brother Isaac had introduced them they hit it off. Though Vaeda was older than Elijah, she didn’t really ever think of him as being immature or anything like that. He was only two years younger than she anyways, so it wasn’t like she thought of him as like that. She hadn’t even realized this until now that she had actually kissed her brother’s best friend. she was probably going to keep this whole thing out of the Way’s business. She really didn’t want to hear any crap from her family about this entire thing. They would probably take everything out of context and think that she was an awful person, and while she felt like one right now, she didn’t want to have them put her down even more. She could self-loath on her own just fine, thank you very much.
The only person that Vaeda would probably tell would be Chandler. He was one of the only people in her life that she never felt judged by. She always felt understood. She and Chandler were as close as siblings even though they were just cousins. Vaeda knew that Chandler got a lot of crap for being a hybrid and for being the giant goofball of the family. Vaeda thought that Chandler thought less of himself and didn’t give himself enough credit for half the things he did where he deserved it. He was literally one of the nicest people she had ever met, and she’d say that even if he weren’t family. People didn’t understand him and didn’t take the time to try to either. That was what irritated Vaeda most.
Vaeda sighed a little and bit the inside of her cheek. She wished Elijah could have just told her that it was her fault so she could take the blame. Elijah couldn’t help it though. He was just as sweet as Vaeda, especially when it came to people he cared about, so of course he told her it wasn’t all her fault. Vaeda tried believing him, but the more she thought about it the more she replayed it in her mind and the more she put the blame on her own shoulders. Vaeda squared her shoulders and said softly to Elijah, “Being sweet doesn’t mean that this isn’t my fault. It just means it wasn’t intentional, which is wasn’t, of course, but still…” She let her sentence trail off before she looked to the ground. She didn’t want to look into those reasonable eyes and start to think that Elijah was right because she didn’t want him to be. Vaeda didn’t want Elijah to have to put any sort of blame on his shoulders. He already drank too much and if she were to bring him into more drinking, she wouldn’t know how to forgive herself. She really did worry about him. She couldn’t help it with the way he acted, going out and getting wasted all the time, trying his best to forget everything around him. She knew that there was so much more to him than he knew and she wanted that side of Elijah to blossom and show the world what a great, smart person he was.
In one way, Elijah was just like her cousin. She was just now seeing it, but they both underestimated themselves. Chandler in one way and Elijah in that he didn’t think he was as capable of becoming a doctor as he really was. Vaeda knew that he could kick some major butt in school if he just applied himself and put half as much effort into school as he did getting drunk trying to forget about his problems. It irked her so much that they both thought littler of themselves than what they truly were—though since Jude had come into Chandler’s life, he had gotten a lot better.
“You’re not fine!” Vaeda snapped out of her little trans as she went to get ice for Elijah. “You look like crap and that’s partly my fault, too. Sorry I didn’t stop him sooner. I should’ve known he’d do something stupid like that.” She shook her head to herself and snorted at the suggestion of chocolate but didn’t respond. When she came back, she saw Elijah with a Hershey’s in his hand. She looked down at the chocolate and had to admit that it did look rather delicious. She bit the inside of her cheek and stared at the bar of chocolate. “Fine… It really does look pretty good.” Vaeda took the chocolate and gave Elijah the pack of ice. She opened it and nibbled on it while she pet Oreo. The cat somehow knew that being there with her would make her feel slightly better. Oreo purred and asked for more scratching, so she obliged.
She saw the shock in Elijah’s eyes when he looked down at her. She watched him as he sat down and looked at her with utter confusion. Vaeda shrugged at his question and looked down at the floor. She was silent a moment before she took a deep breath and replied. “This whole situation… It just makes me feel like I’m an awful person. What I did to Derek… Only someone terrible would do something to someone so loyal and sweet. I just can’t help but think that I have something terrible inside of me other than just the werewolf side.” Vaeda didn’t tear up. She felt herself really understanding now why she had always been so afraid of her werewolf side. It wasn’t just that it scared her that she could kill an entire town in one night, but that that was who she really was; that she was a fraud who only pretended to be compassionate about animals and about the people around her. she feared that she was really just an evil being all over and that she just hadn’t found out yet.

SHE'LL BE THINKING OF ME even when she's with you Elijah didn’t like it when his own logic was tossed away. The man was very smart and it wasn’t often that his logic was tossed over, but as he listened to Vaeda, he realized that she had a point. But that didn’t mean it applied to her! That was the thing that he had a hard convincing her of. He understood how something was engraved into your mind so deep that nothing was going to be able to take it out. That’s what he felt like when people (and when he meant people, he meant mainly Vaeda) told him he wasn’t as worthless as he thought. Other people felt warm and fuzzy and filled with hope whenever someone pointed it out. Elijah always felt they felt obligated to say it and didn’t really mean it. Honestly, even if somewhere he did believe they were telling the truth, he was going to tell himself something else over and over. It was permanently planted in his mind at this point. The only thing that could possibly change his mind was if they had a war and the humans won. The chance of that? Unlikely.
Except she said that it wasn’t intentional. He didn’t really believe that again. She couldn’t blame something that alcohol did to her. Even under, it made even the slightest kisses feel like it was the greatest thing in the world. Though he couldn’t help but still have what she said stuck in her head. That kiss did mean something even after she was drinking. That was something that was rare. It was sober where you realized how fucked up everything that you thought was a good idea was. To be sober and still see it was something different. But that couldn’t possibly be the reason. Elijah looked at her so uncertain. ”No. But that also doesn’t mean that’s the case for you this time.” He knew that the comment was going to be useless considering he knew what mind set she was having right then. Elijah was in some ways stubborn, but in other ways, he realized when a battle had been lost. And when he just had to prepare for the next one. Looking down at his physical condition, he figured that he better prepare fast. Blame could be argued for anyone if really fought. For example- if his family hadn’t forced him to go, none of this would have happened. So was it their fault? Course not. Although now thinking about it, the thought was tempting.
Vaeda continued to pester him much like his mother would do when Logan burned his hair. He had too much pride to admit that he was very angry at his cousin, but she continued to fuss over him. Much like he had done when he was that age, he sighed and gave a gentle roll of his eyes. Especially when she went on about it was her fault. More of her fault. How was she supposed to know that her stuttering awkward boyfriend had the potential of beating the crap out of someone lower than himself. If it would have been a bet, Elijah would have lost all of his money on that one. He didn’t think it was in him. Although he was sure that the werewolf side helped his case. Elijah didn’t really understand how all of that worked. The supernatural often referred to the werewolf as one of different sides. The side that she was showing now and this monster that seemed to be in her or something. He didn’t know how that worked. How could two things be in one person? Whatever it was, it failed to make him reassured about having a werewolf in his house. But it was Vaeda, which made it better. ”I always look like crap, Vaeda!” He said with a sight whine in his voice, ”And you couldn’t have known. How could you have? I’m glad you stopped him at all. I’m sure the faeries wouldn’t have liked burnt werewolves all over the place.” Being a Way, she would understand of all people how defensive those big families could get.
He smiled when she took the chocolate, but it was gone when he held the ice in his hand. The burning was already beginning. Whatever hidden firetaming genes rolling around inside of him were probably madder than hell. The feeling he got from his stomach was enough to prove it. Still, obediently, he placed it on his side. Despite the feeling it gave his hand, it did make his side feel less hot and thumping. It was as if it slowed down all the little nerves going on in there. Elijah knew very well what was going on, but there was no way he was going to get into technicalities now. He found that he was starting to lose some of that knowledge he worked so hard to obtain. All of those times of memorizing everything his biology teacher was telling him was wasted. Done. Might as well went to school so that he was able to teach others. His hopes and dreams were trashed. Elijah tried not to think about it as he gripped the ice. He separated part of the wrap he had one so that he was able to put the ice on it so he didn’t have to hold it there the entire time. It was a lucky thing, as when he sat down, he couldn’t even focus to work on how burning cold the ice was on his side.
Her gaze went to the floor as if she were ashamed, but it seemed that all of the tears had already been done and spilled. Elijah sighed along with her. She was talking crazy. And it was driving him nuts. Call him a hypocrite, but he was starting to see something… broken. And oh- he didn’t like it. No, not Vaeda. His heart ached, but he ignored it and went to speak to her, very firm and very serious. ”Vaeda, one event doesn’t make you a bad person. It’s- hey look at me.” He softened a little bit when he gave her a small command before continuing, ”It’s called a mistake. Supernaturals make them too.” Coming off of the phrase ‘you’re only human’ considering she… well she wasn’t. Elijah looked at his hands for a moment and made a soft scoff, ”Yeah, we make a hell lot more of them.” We being humans. He looked back at Vaeda, ”But that is one thing that’s always the same. You are literally the nicest person I know. The only one that comes close is a girl that has the mental mentality of a ten year old because she’s insane. I think her teddy bear with a cape is around here somewhere.” He said with a small laugh, trying to prove his point, ”If you don’t believe me, believe Oreo.” Elijah pointed to the cat, ”She hates everyone. It’s why we get along so well. But she adores you. Need I go on? Because I’ll make out a list and we’ll be up all night.” A hint of humor was in his voice, although his objective was to drive this so hard through her that she understood. Elijah wouldn’t start falling for any girl- especially a taken one. It would have to take someone special for that.

enough words for fuckincirce and emily and she's wearing thisBecause it was pretty much useless to argue with Elijah on some things, this being one of those few things you could change his mind on, she decided to just let it go. She knew it was her fault and she knew that she had broken Derek’s heart into a hundred pieces and now there was nothing she could do about it. Instead of arguing any longer, she just looked at the floor and let the guilt wash over her. If she was able to ever get some kind of redemption she’d take it, but even Derek wouldn’t give her any chance after something so big. For God’s sake, she just thought of someone else during sex. It was even worse that she was here since Elijah was the one she thought of—though she would never in a million years tell anyone that. It was going to be her secret. Except, Vaeda realized, that would be the thing that made Elijah realize that it really was her fault and then his argument would be invalid. She sighed and kept her gaze at the ground. She wouldn’t tell him whose name it was, just tell him why she was right, that’s all. “Yes it does,” she started. “I’m the one who said someone else’s name tonight…you know…after we got home…during the end and well, it was awful. I’m awful. I don’t even know how it happened!” She looked up pleadingly at Elijah like she asking him for her forgiveness, though she was unsure why. He wasn’t the one who had to go through the experience he was just the one she freaking thought of!
Vaeda had always had a mother’s instinct. It was probably even greater than the average human since she was a werewolf though because mama wolves were much more protective than others. They were as dangerous as bears and lionesses. Vaeda knew that when she had kids, she was going to be one of those moms that was sheltering and afraid to let them get hurt. She’d have to have some kind of counterpart to make her back off somehow because if she didn’t she’d put them all in plastic bubbles and keep them hidden at home. There were far too many dangerous things in today’s world to let them get hurt, and God only knew how much more dangerous it would get by the time she actually did have kids. Sometimes Vaeda thought of Elijah as a kid, even though he was only a couple years younger than she. She sometimes forgot their age difference really. Vaeda didn’t really care that he was also her brother’s best friend. She liked him more, and Isaac couldn’t argue with that.
Vaeda cracked a little bit of a smile at Elijah and shook her head. “Not tonight you didn’t. Until, you know, after you got the shit beat out of you.” She patted his shoulder a little and nodded. “Yeah, I noticed a few of your family members coming closer. But I wasn’t really thinking about getting hurt. You’re just a human; you could have been killed if he would have done anymore. And then I’d really never be able to live with myself.” Vaeda then realized that she had pretty much made him seem weak. But even he knew that Derek was insanely strong because he was a werewolf. Even Vaeda was stronger than Elijah, but it had everything to do with being a werewolf. “I didn’t mean it like that. I just meant that you wouldn’t stand a chance. No! I mean—“ Vaeda stopped short because she didn’t know how to not make this sound okay. She sighed harshly and said, “Sorry.” She finished tending to his bruises as best as she could.
Her self-esteem had taken a really sharp plunge after tonight and she had never felt so low in her life. Vaeda looked up at Elijah as she pet Oreo and shook her head. “You’re not a bad person. Everyone but you knows that.” She sighed and shrugged a little. She smiled a little when he talked about the little teddy bear. Vaeda stood up and shook her head. “No,” she walked over to Elijah and wrapped her arms loosely around his already beaten body. Since she remembered this time that he was injured, she barely touched him, but it was all she needed. Elijah was the only person in the world right now who could have made her even reconsider her own torturous thoughts. He was right though. Everyone made mistakes, he was right. And he was definitely right about Oreo, who was now on the couch curling up on a blanket. “Thanks,” she said softly and held him there for a little.
She released him and sighed a little. “Now what?” she asked looking around. He needed a good cleaning around here. But she suddenly felt really tired. She could go for some good old fashioned hanging out now. “Want to watch a movie?” she asked hopefully.
