too many dreamers, LOOKING FOR THE ONES THAT LAST |
[/div] Jeremiah hadn’t expected to actually grow fond of the girl he had met in the bar. He had even started out patronizing her for the sheer fun of doing so. But she had caught him by surprise. He didn’t know that he could actually feel anything towards someone, but Cierra somehow brought out this different side to him he never realized had even existed. At first he had refused to believe that he could care even a little bit about her, but when she was attacked in the alleyway, he knew he had to save her. Jeremiah wouldn’t have risked his own life for just anyone and if he saw someone being mugged in an alleyway in the middle of the night he wouldn’t have felt at all bad for hem. But Cierra was a harmless, tiny little thing that could barely stand up to him and he hadn’t really done very much to her; how was she going to survive an attack that was physical? Jeremiah had no idea how she had survived Manuka as long as she had, but he knew that once Cason was in the picture, the hunter had looked out for her.
Jeremiah listened in to Cierra's thoughts enough to know how much she loved Cason, even if she didn’t yet want to admit her feelings aloud. He could tell by the fondness she had for him and the way she thought of him. She hadn’t known her most personal thoughts were in his head, too. Afterwards he had almost felt bad, but the guilt went away as quickly as he thought he felt it. Reading people’s minds was just a habit he couldn’t break and he had needed the information at the time anyways. Jeremiah wouldn’t listen in on her thoughts now though because he knew her now and didn’t want to invade her privacy—which was new to him. He never thought of other people. There was always something in it for him when he did something good for another person. But this was out of respect for her, which he had gained when she told him off at the bar.
That had been a long while ago. But Jeremiah had kept tabs on her. When he had seen her home safely she had thanked him about a hundred times and Jeremiah was about to somehow shut her up, but then she hugged him and he was too shocked to do anything but stare at her and pat her back a couple of times. He was almost positive she called Cason to relay the news and Jeremiah wondered if Cason would try to go after him. He would have a hard time seeing as Jeremiah was a skilled assassin and he didn’t take kindly to threats. But Jeremiah also knew that because he saved his girlfriend’s life, it was unlikely that he should gun for him. So he wasn’t necessarily worried about it.
He had called the infamous Cierra earlier today and asked her to meet him here at the zoo. Jeremiah had seen her a few times since the night they met and he knew he could trust her. Usually he wouldn’t dare tell anyone what was running through his mind, but he needed some female advice and he couldn’t go to Ryland because it was about her. The time was coming nearer where he would finally have to kill his girlfriend. He actually felt nervous about it like he wouldn’t be able to go through with the deed. He had brought a fellow assassin and ally, Noah, but Noah seemed to not be helping him at all. Jeremiah wanted to know why he was so scared to do his job and why he felt so different about it. He would of course keep the fact that he was a hired killer out of the details, but he wanted to know what he was feeling and why he was feeling anything at all when in all his life he had never felt anything towards anyone but his parents—and now Ryland and Cierra. It was all too much for him.

[style=background-image:url(http://i.imgur.com/sJi000q.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; width:400px; height: 300px;] someone to talk to playground school bell rings again. rainclouds come to play, again. has no one told you she's not breathing? hello. I'm your mind giving you someone to talk to. Hello. If I smile and don't believe. Soon I know I'll wake from this dream. Don't try to fix me I'm not broken. Hello. I'm the light living for you so you can't hide. Don't cry. Suddenly I know I"m not sleeping Hello. I'm still here. All thats left of yesterday [style=height:215px; padding-right:8px; overflow:auto;]It was amazing how the woman a couple of years ago had nothing but time on her hands, and now she felt like she always had something booked. All the time. Her life was going through a whole new world of twists and turns, some good and some bad. Cason. She couldn’t believe the man told her he loved her. Someone loved her. Put her first in his life. Her heart couldn’t have been bursting more that night. No, she didn’t like him showing up beat up by another supernatural (and him telling her officially he was a hunter even though little shapeshifter Cierra had already known). All of that. She called Vi that next morning on the way to her work, spilling everything and asking how the heck she was going to survive the relationship. Cason was wonderful and deserved the best, but Cierra didn’t know if she could give him the best. Mostly because she didn’t know. Her experience was little. What was common? What was spending too much time together? Too much apart? When was it too soon for some things and when it was not soon enough or too late. Cierra was so emotional, paranoid, and clingy. Not really good mixture for girlfriend material. For instance, when Vi had disappeared, Cierra had kept the emotional side to herself.
So she had been trying to work as much as she could and take her breaks to be able to go and be a husky dog. If she wasn’t doing something right, at least she could use her work as an excuse. She didn’t like dealing with it that way, but she was so frightened. That’s why when she got the call from Jeremiah, she was actually very surprised not only that he called, but to find she had time. Could he read minds over the phone? Out of all the supernaturals she had met and talked to her in life, immortals had been one she didn’t know very much over. They scared her. Out of all of the supernaturals, it scared her the most (though she supposed a wolf on a full moon would have been more terrifying). But she had never really seen them in their true form. Cierra was pretty good about staying indoors during the late nights, especially full moons. Yet, despite that, Jeremiah didn’t… scare her as much as she would have been expected. In fact, ever since he saved her, she felt rather comforted. Also despite the first conversation the pair said. Cierra still turned hot and red from embarrassment remembering that conversation. Goodness, she had actually let herself curse. Honestly, she hardly remembered what it was about. She just remembered being so angry. Over loaded. Not the person she liked. She couldn’t count how many times she apologized.
As if she couldn’t have been more surprised- wanted her to meet him at the zoo. They had met a couple of times after and such, but… Oh, she hadn’t been to the zoo in so long. Terribly long, actually. An animal lover like her should have been visiting about every day she could. That would be great, but usually there wasn’t a lot of people to go with her. Vi used to go with her. Another frown brought on her face, but she shook it off. She didn’t want to think about how odd it was that Vi disappeared around the time of the radical attack. Cierra’s back was certainly going to scar, she just knew it. Being a little bit of a perfectionist on her own looks, this was deeply disturbing. At least it wasn’t visible. Her visible looks were like they usually were. Long wavy hair, pink lipstick, and an outfit that celebrities would wear. Yes, she did put a lot into her own appearance. She had done it for as long as she could remember. She was a little too insecure not to.
Parking her little maroon Honda Civic (1995, nothing fancy at all), she started walking toward the entrance. Memories shot at her. One her first times visiting the zoo with her sister. Skipping and whispering if they were going to see any puppies on the way there. Of course, by puppies, she meant the wolves because it was Cierra’s favorite. Yes, reasons she was completely bias about, but that was probably one thing that didn’t bother her. If she were in her dog form, she would be wagging her tail all the way there. What was it about a zoo that made people enjoy themselves? It was a lot of animals behind cages or glassed doors enjoying a pampered life of luxury and not having to hunt for anything. But there was something about it. It brought a sweet smile to Cierras face as she gripped her purse, seeing the man who had asked to meet. Suddenly in a little bit of a timid way, she grinned at him, ”Hi Jeremiah.” Never really wanting to call someone a nickname until she knew they were okay with it. She remembered first calling Cason Cas. It slipped and she held her breath. That seemed so long ago. "How did you know I liked the zoo?"

too many dreamers, LOOKING FOR THE ONES THAT LAST |
[/div] Jeremiah had settled himself on one of the benches in front of the zoo so that when Cierra arrived they could wonder in together. Jeremiah had never been to a zoo before and wondered what the big deal was. He actually felt terrible for the animals being forced to live inside cages. When he was young, Jeremiah had sometimes felt trapped in a cage, too. He knew how terribly frightening and suffocating it could be. When he was a kid he hadn’t wanted to be like his dad. He didn’t want to be a killer. Jeremiah had wanted to travel and see the world, a world he had known all his life that he would be on forever. But it didn’t stop him from wanting to be able explore and find things and have adventures. His parents had made it clear though that because he would have forever spending time with them was what was most important for now. So he had stayed with them and trained day and night learning everything he could about fighting and killing. He was only sixteen when his father gave him his first client without the supervision of his mother. He had done a good job of it, too, but Jeremiah didn’t feel as though it was something to celebrate at the time. But his parents were proud of him and he put on a joyful face and pretended for their sake that he was glad to be like them. Eventually he started to believe that he was happy.
Then he met Ryland. All of these new feelings hit him hard. He didn’t know what it was but he always looked forward to seeing her again. At one point in time he had to leave town altogether because he was beginning to become attached to her. He had awoken each day thinking of her and went to sleep each night dreaming of her. It scared him. Jeremiah had never experienced this before and was never told by his parents what exactly love was. All he had known from them was the life of an assassin. Love was something they never spoke of even though they were in it. They probably thought that because they would live forever they could explain it to him when he was ready and well on his way to being the best assassin this world had ever seen. But their lives were cut short and he had never found out. All Jeremiah wanted was answers. Cierra was obviously his own option. She was so insanely caught up in Cason that she might have some clue as to what was going on with him.
Just as he wondered where she was, Cierra came walking towards him looking like a million bucks. He stood and gave her a warm smile, which he hadn’t even known he was giving until after she had already said hello. It was weird having emotions that he couldn’t even calculate or control. He hated it. But instead of erasing his smile, he let it widen. “Hey Cierra,” he replied, letting his voice sound casual as if he was perfectly fine, which he obviously wasn’t. He looked behind him at the zoo and then back at her. In a lowered voice he said, “Well, you’re a shifter. I figured you’d like it here. You probably came here when you were younger to find the perfect animal to shift into or something…” Jeremiah shrugged. She was also exactly the kind of person he expected was an animal lover, not just because she was a shifter, but because he suspected if she found a hurt turtle on the side of the road, she’d rush it to the animal hospital to get fixed. Jeremiah on the other hand would have just driven past it without a backwards glance.
Ushering her towards the entrance, he decided to try and stay out of her thoughts today. He knew she hated that he could read her mind, so he would do his best to block off her thoughts. Jeremiah bought two tickets before Cierra could try to buy her own and he handed her one. “My treat,” he said. It was the least he could do.
